Jason gifts Kyle some of the cringiest anime shirts ever made because he thought Kyle would hate them, but Kyle just starts wearing them at home all the time. ("What? They're comfy.")

Eventually, Jason gets rid of the shirts ("If I have to read 'kawaii in the streets, senpai in the sheets' one more time I'll lose it."), but Kyle almost immediately buys more. ("What? They're comfy.")

So Jason goes "Oh, two can play at that game, pal." and buys a bunch of green lantern t-shirts. He makes sure that every single shirt has Hal's face on it. ("What- Babe!" "What? They're comfy." "Hal's your favourite green lantern?!" "Have you seen how he gets on Batman's nerves? He's my favourite superhero.")

It's hard to say who suffers more in this ordeal.

Bonus #1:

Kyle buys this shirt for himself and the first time Jason sees it, he has to go on a long walk because kawaii is not pronounced kah-why who even made that shirt?! I can't believe he bought that what the fuck-

For unrelated reasons, it's Kyle's favourite.

When his frustrations reach their peak, Jason posts a long, detailed rant about this entire incident in the group chat he shares with Rose and Eddie.

Curious to ask, is the Murder Club the one with both the scene of Talia visiting a resting Damian while saying Dick doesn’t really count as family to him AND the one where Damian met both Thomas and Martha Wayne?

Or are those two different stories?

They're different stories. The one with Talia is from a story called My Son. It's from Batman: Urban Legends #20. The first part of Murder Club follows that story in #20.

And a lot more stuff, but this is what I'm thinking of now! I had my own issues with this season, but you're right, people are being way too critical and we need more positivity for it out here! That said, I want to thank you so much for defending it and keeping this blog negativity free - you've definitely brought me around, at least! Thank you for your service and hope this helps!!

One thing I loved this season was how dynamic the lighting was in particular. No two scenes were almost ever lit precisely the same way and there were so often like, shafts of light with little dust particles. It was so cool

And thank you for your kind words. I feel like I don't see much negativity here on tumblr (and even when it was here people were very good about tagging it accordingly, so big kudos) anymore so much as almost a lack of excitement, which just felt so opposite bc all S4 did was add to my excitement once I re-calibrated some expectations. Like the possession plot line alone and foreshadowing of that alone, nevermind all the horrifying implications about what Rayla's been through and everyone's arcs? How much worldbuilding we got for Xadia in terms of politics (arch dragons) and culture (Sunfire elves)? Amazing & stupendous. I'm always content with taking longer to get to a destination than I previously thought if the journey there is fun and engaging, and S4 definitely delivered that and more than a few lovely surprises along the way

Like Rayla and Callum are absolutely my fave characters, Rayla in particular, but I truly deeply love every character basically as much. I'm fine with her (and Aaravos) continuing to foil each other with a little more mystery and a backseat for a season if everyone else gets to shine. I'm excited to see where they all go from here!

Hello! So excited to know more about this story!! Just read the introduction post it all looks amazing, super interesting and very rich!

As someone who's also developing an original fantasy story, I have to ask - how did you come up with original names for countries/races/... ? That's something I've been struggling with a bit

Ay same hat!

This is an interesting one to consider because there can be a lot of motivation (and narrative stories - written works - over visual works - tv shows - typically have to go More in depth, or have more room to go in depth with things). There are a few key things I think about when it comes to naming peoples/countries:

1) Tone and genre expectations.

By this I mean that if you have a race of people who are vampires, and you call them vampires, there are a lot of other associations and lore you might have to contend or work around (if you're not using it) in order to feel fresh. However, renaming those people bloodsuckers - or something else entirely - might free you up a little more room to maneuver.

For example: across Vita's Land, there are human-wolf shapeshifters. They are classically werewolves (can transform regardless of the moon, but do grow stronger with its phases, and no silver weakness) with some modifications to - let's just say they almost never look entirely Human, either, even when in humanoid form. But I knew I didn't want the genre associations of werewolves (they're fine, just not for me / this story), strictly speaking, and it felt tonally inconsistent with the rest of the story. Thus, my wolf-human shapeshifters are called Wolf Children, and view themselves as the Moon's children (somewhat literally) with the stars as their brothers and sisters, and another area where they concentrate worship / form around culturally.

Same thing for having a people who ride and breed unicorns as war horses (which we meet much Much later). It didn't matter how scarily I described them, they'd never been taken seriously. Thus, I had to give them another name, and it was an interesting process.

2) History of conquering / colonization (if applicable)

This was an important one for me as just about any world is going to have some history of war / past conflict and subsequent migration, but I knew traditional Trans Atlantic or otherwise colonization had never entirely been a thing. What this meant was that I didn't want what I was using as 'Common' to be spoken universally (like an English lingua franca, which only exists because of historical colonization) and that, 99/100, what various peoples are labelled as is Also what they call themselves. So elves are not called elves because humans decided so, they're called elves because that's what they introduced themselves as, etc.

I do know that a lot of Common words - like Infran! - are derived from specifically Northern elvish, but words are taken from all over due to increased trade. Most gemstones have Giant-ish names; trees from the elves; constellations and some artistic stuff from the Wolf Children, etc. I knew that the closer certain places were the more they'd trade and be more likely to share linguistic / regional similarities, so I also leaned into that.

3) Linguistics and phonetics

I do not have the skill nor the motivation to lay out an entire language. Thus, I try and think of how I want a language to sound and represent people what sort of phonetics may go along with it. I wanted a lighter more flowery language for my elves so they have a lot of As and Ys in their names/words. My Giants had the opposite (more guttural with lots of Gs and Us). I knew I wanted my Wolf Children to sound distinct from either of those, so I leaned towards the Grecian alphabet.

Kilvoskia is a bit more Russian / Slavic inspired than Alvoskia (which pulls a bit more from Western / Islamic Europe and Asia) so that was a difference too - even if again, bound to have some similarities and such. Names can be a great way to denote place and/or culture (i.e. Isuri and Rayan are Citadel born and raised, hence their names have more in common with Citadellian names the Citadel having more Islamic Golden age influences) vs Bill who was born in a tiny fishing town or George, who was born in the midwest.

Even Ally's full name (Allison) changes upon translation or accent, so in some places (and more historically) her name is pronounced Alliccon.

It's also totally fine to not know the names of most of your world's places (you don't want to overload your reader in the beginning anyway) and character names can change, or in-universe meanings can deepen, over time, so don't sweat it too much!
