* Gwyn rummaging through a package of M&M's and pulling out some *
Nestha: What are you doing?
Gwyn: Azriel only likes the blue
Emerie: And are you saving it for him? what a nice gesture
Gwyn: What? No! I'll eat the blue in front of him and then run away

Headcanon Gwynriel Scene PART 2
Hello there!! 💞
Before you start reading this scene I strongly recommend that you take a look on part 1 for a better understanding. However, nothing's wrong if you don't want to. Here's: the link
Good Reading :) ~~*~~ ~~*~~ ~~*~~ ~~*~~ ~~*~~ ~~*~~ ~~*~~ ~~*~~ ~~*~~ ~~*~~ ~~*~~ The rest of Azriel's training went on without any trouble. Gwyn sometimes got distracted and spent a few seconds staring at Azriel's muscular back. She cursed herself and told herself that Nesta and Emerie's books were a bad influence and she should stop reading them.
Gwyn and Azriel had developed something close to companionship in those days when he and his brothers had taken her to Velaris along with Emerie and Nestha to take care of "wedding" preparations. And on some days, he stayed later at the House of Wind training ring to give Gwyn extra lessons, but she didn't know if she could call it friendship. They saw each other, exchanged a few words, sometimes laughed... But that was all.
Azriel was handsome, she couldn't deny that.
Yes, definitely, the books were a bad influence. But they were so good. Gwyn looked away from the pages again, chuckling at the dialogue.
"Enemies to lovers is so them!" Gwyn giggled foolishly as she closed the book, remembering the complicated relationship between Nestha and Cassian.
The priestess took a deep breath. Azriel was doing a series of kicks on the punching bag. She was surprised to realize it was already getting dark. Before leaving, Gwyn ate some cookies and indulged in the hot chocolate. When she got up to organize her things, Azriel was starting to stretch after the workout.
Gwyn began to hum softly as she squatted to pick up the blanket, but of course, the House did the job for her.
"You spoil me too much, House. Be careful," Gwyn laughed, then stood up. She clasped her hands together and stretched her arms upward. Comfortable positions could still cause a slight discomfort in the back, after all. Gwyn sighed softly as she felt her muscles contract and closed her eyes.
When she opened them again, she saw Azriel in the middle of the ring walking toward the water fountain. The shadows seemed to dance around him. Gwyn continued to murmur some random and carefree notes as she stretched.
Then she noticed that ghost touch on her face again. Gwyn took a deep breath and exhaled, watching her breath condense in the cold air. She blinked, stunned, as she watched shadows intertwine there.
The same shadows that danced with Azriel's breath. — she noticed. Gwyn raised her eyebrows. Did they want to say something?
The redhead took a deep breath and exhaled again, but this time there was no sign of shadows. She furrowed her brows. She swore she saw something. Gwyn approached Azriel, curious. He was filling a mug to drink water.
"Well, well. I thought you were going to hit that punching bag until you dehydrated and collapsed on the floor," she dragged a finger across the weapon counter, cleaning off invisible dust.
Azriel smiled without showing his teeth and was about to retort, but tensed up when the shadows vibrated around him, wanting to escape the reins he had put on them earlier. He brushed them off with a touch on the shoulder.
Gwyn smiled and then grabbed a mug. She approached the water fountain, just to test something. She approached him. And then she began to hum as she waited for her own mug to fill up.
The shadows stirred over Azriel's shoulders. Peeking. Curious. Trying to reach that inviting breath of Gwyn. Azriel hid them with a flutter of wings. Gwyn raised an eyebrow at him.
"Are you hiding something from me, Azriel?" the redhead asked with the corner of her lips curving unconsciously upward as she took a sip of water.
"Not at all," he said, swallowing the remaining water in his mug.
"I like your shadows," Gwyn shrugged. "Why do you always send them away when I'm around? It's frustrating. I need to make new friends, you know? Nesta and Emerie can be... kind of boring sometimes."
Azriel raised his eyebrows, surprised. It wasn't every day someone made that kind of comment to him.
I like your shadows. When was the last time someone had said that to him? Azriel put on that mask on his face and showed a certain indifference as he responded:
"I didn't want to bother you."
"They're not a bother," Gwyn scoffed. "And as I said: I need new friends."
The shadowsinger gave a small smile and began to remove the wraps from his hands. As if that were possible. The two of them being friends.
He was used to keeping his shadows hidden. It usually didn't require much effort, as shadows had that reserved nature. They shied away from interactions with other people, usually feeling threatened. It was like that when he was with Elain, for example.
But when Gwyn appeared... The damned shadows slithered toward her. They threatened to escape, insisting on reaching her somehow. They became curious, excited.
Look. See. Get closer.
"Most people don't like them," Azriel swallowed hard, me, was what he wanted to say. "They're afraid."
"Well, I'm not." Gwyn offered a warm smile and drank the water. "Let me see them."
Azriel fell silent. Gwyn had participated in the Rite, of course she wouldn't be afraid of seemingly harmless shadows. But would she think differently if she knew everything he had done wrong?
Would she like him if she knew how dirty his hands were? And how much the shadows had contributed to that?
The Illyrian took a deep breath and then exhaled.
"Okay."
And the moment Azriel loosened the restraints preventing the shadows from reaching Gwyn, they went straight to the source of their downfall. The shadows began to dance around Gwyn, who closed her eyes, relishing the sensation. She stretched out her arms and began to make small hums. When she opened her eyes, she watched as the shadows encircled her skin.
"See?" Gwyn laughed, extending her hand above her head to observe better. That smile with sharp canines seemed to ignite something inside Azriel's chest, which he promptly buried. "They tickle."
The comment made Azriel chuckle softly. Tickles? That's something new.
Gwyn relaxed and tilted her head, watching as the shadows returned to coil and shelter themselves over Azriel's shoulders. She couldn't help but pout with discontent when she saw that was all, and only that.
"Do you feel it too?" she asked. "The tickling?"
"No," Azriel began to fill his mug with water again, silence settling between them. He was still having trouble processing that image: the shadows interacting with Gwyn. The way they slid over her arms, neck, and hands as she sang...
That wasn't possible, was it? How?! The same shadows that were shy, quiet, and antisocial. That... Hid behind his wings in the presence of Elain... What was so different about Gwyn that made them behave like that?
Azriel swallowed hard.
"They sort of belong to you, don't they?" Gwyn asked when she noticed Azriel wasn't going to say anything. Then she tilted her head and narrowed her eyes subtly. "The shadows."
Azriel nodded.
"Then you shouldn't hide them," Gwyn smiled tenderly. "You know, we all have a dark side. Darkness is part of our journey. Of us. We have to learn to embrace it," she swallowed hard. "And in the past year, I've learned that when people like you, they like you even if you have that dark side."
"Right," was all he said. And then he realized it wasn't a socially pleasant response. "I'll try."
Gwyn took a deep breath. He's being monosyllabic today.
"I'll be going..." she opened a mischievous smile. "Before you have a nervous breakdown from having a conversation for more than five minutes with someone."
The comment made Azriel almost laugh through his nose. Before he could argue back, Gwyn was faster and continued speaking as she started walking. "I know that forming more than three words per sentence isn't one of your strengths." She patted Azriel's shoulder twice as she passed him.
Azriel straightened up, a shiver of surprise running down his spine. She wasn't one to do that often. Usually, Gwyn preferred to keep her distance from males. She noticed it herself and, for a moment, stopped walking—swearing she had felt a tug backward. Gwyn realized she no longer felt as uncomfortable when she was with Azriel, like that day when he joined Cassian to train them for the first time. She felt... Safe, even though she couldn't explain why. Gwyn dismissed the thought with a slight shake of her head and started walking again. Before she crossed the arch, Azriel called out to her, his voice playful:
"Good night, Valkyrie."
She turned to him, only to say:
"Good night, Shadowsinger."
Gwyn unconsciously curved her lips upward as she turned her back to Azriel again. For some reason, she liked what she heard. Something shimmered in her chest as her mind recalled the exact movements of Azriel's lips as he said that word.
Valkyrie.
And for an even greater reason, which Gwyn couldn't explain, she wished to hear it again.

Lele, in HOFAS we learned that Truth-teller belonged to Enalius who was the first of the Illyrians and the one who liberated them and how could SJM be more obviously to the fact that the Illyrians and therefore Azriel WILL lead the next book it’s like in everybody’s face (and who is closely to it? Yes, the Valkyries - aka Azriel bestfriend Nestha and yes Gwyn)
Right! Bryce gave Gwydion back to Nesta and said find out why you had that tattoo - clear sign that Nesta has more things coming next. Couple that with sjm saying that Nesta has more story to tell. And then we haven't gotten Azriel's reaction to having been without TT for a few weeks when Bryce took it, but now he knows more about Illyrians and Enalius. When he saw Ramiel on the wall drawings he was pretty reverent - no matter what he says, he clearly knows that there are things about Illyria that are worth saving.
I suspect that Azriel is grappling with a lot of conflicting emotions about now, all related to his being Illyrian and owning Enalius's weapon, its connection to Gwydion, knowing that Illyrians were made by the Asteri, and it will be interesting to see where his head is at!

Every day I see a Nesta Stan starting a fight over Elriel and for preferring Gwynriel. do you think it's okay that they hate elain so much when she never did anything that bad to nestha?
I live on twitter, so it's much worse there. it's basically impossible to say an ''a'' without being hounded by nesta fans who say that she did EVERYTHING for elain and that elain should be grateful and that they hate her and that gwyn is so much better and all that shit
I guess the simplest question would be--what was it that she did?
I mean, if they say that she did EVERYTHING or some much, then, I am sure examples could be provided?
Food? Shelter? Clothes? Education? Preventing a kidnapping? Preventing her from being Made? Not having Graysen break up with her? Standing up against Lucien on her behalf? Saving her from Hybern?
What exactly is 'everything' and can they offer some explanation?
I do remember 'don't you touch my sister!' coming from Elain, as she saved Nesta's and Cassian's lives.
I do remember Elain planning to have Nesta live with her in the Human Lands once she married Graysen, so Nesta would be safe.
I do remember Elain giving Nesta gifts for Solstice and her bday. Inviting her--begging her, really--to come and celebrate Solstice with them. Worrying about her. Attempting to talk to her and help her in some way. Until Nesta ignored her at the market and walked past her.
Yeah. I don't think so.
Gwyn gave Nesta a friendship bracelet. Yay.

Yours, Mine
“All I want is that every damn creature on this land get to know that you are mine, and that I am yours.”
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A.N: Okay, I genuinely didn’t expect to feel included in the fandom so fast (It’s the first time I ever use Tumblr, still learning some things) but since some of you liked my daydreams about a modern gwynriel au, here’s an one shot from an incorrect quote. Please don’t take it too serious, it’s supposed to be funny. And also, sorry about the writing, I’m not that good and English is not my first language. Anyways, hope you’ll like ; )
— Gwyn! Let me help you with this! — The Priestess already knew who was it, even before turning to the visitor who has erupted into the library.
Hair dark as the night and the traits of his father. But when he smiles… Nyx was all of Feyre. The Night Court heir ran to her and got some of the books that she balanced in one arm. Gwyn noticed that the boy was already tall enough to reach the top of the pile and couldn’t stop a smile. He was growing up so fast, seem like yesterday when Nestha brought the nephew to introduce to her friends.
Gwyn was immediately enchanted, the wings, hands, fingers, it was all so tiny and perfect! Wrapped him into her arms like it was porcelain made. Emerie, otherwise, loved to caress his little pointy ears and watch him laugh, but when it was suggested that she took him, the Illyrian seem a bit terrified by the idea, holding the baby how you would usually carry a bag of rice during a few minutes. She didn’t took long to return it to his aunt, allegedly afraid of letting him fall. That returned to Gwyn, who was already arms-open to take him.
The boy, obviously unaware of Emerie’s discomfort, keeps on laughing, finding a lot of fun on being passed between arms among the three Valkyries.
Nowadays Nyx was a little man, and Gwyn almost misses having him running through the rooms when at the House of Wind.
— Gwyneth, my darling, you shouldn’t carry so much weight — lately, Nyx had turned out into a real flatterer.
Not surprising, given who was his father. But the little one seemed to not notice that he was just a child. It was so sweet and Gwyn wanted to bite his cheeks at every gentlemanly behavior.
— You’re right, thank you, darling.
At the moment they got to the table Gwyn would take place, Nesta erupted by the same door that his nephew had before.
— Why I am not surprised? — she raised an eyebrow watching Nyx put the five books he took from her on the table. — Not sure of whom of the two I’m supposed to be mad with. Nyx, for trying to take my friend from me, or Gwyn, for trying to steal my nephew!
It was a fact that — of all his aunts, uncles and his parents friends — Nyx was especially fond of Gwyn, she suspected that this was due to the long hours admiring him as a baby.
She greeted her friend and started to organize her belongings to finally begin the analysis and decoding of those books when Nyx sit on the table — not on the chair, on the table — beside her and hold her cheeks with the tiny hands to make her look at him.
— Gwyn, one day you’re marrying me, right? — she couldn’t stop the shock with his claim. The impulse of laughing came but she knew that this could offend him so she stopped herself. — My mom and Dad have centuries of age gap, what are a few decades? I’m sure you can wait for me.
Now she had to effectively bite her inside cheek to stop the laugh. Mother! He was actually arguing in favor of this absurd idea!
— Oh, sweetie. I mean, nobody knows about the future, right? I- I’ll do as possible — she assured him e could only beg for him not had learned with his father the habit of bargaining too.
Nesta, blessed were, choose this moment to clear her throat. Turning to her direction, Gwyn found the blonde one biting her lip, as red as a tomato, and knew she heard the little chat and was trying not to laugh too.
— Nyx, your mother’s arrived, she’s waiting for you upstairs.
The little boy jumped and ran excited, but not before throwing his aunt and Gwyn a kiss, and to Azriel he only made a gesture that she assumed it was intern joke between them.
Azriel, the shadowsinger was so quiet Gwyn didn’t even noticed he was there. Since when? His countenance was serious and she asked herself what could’ve happened. Maybe the shadows brought him some bad news? It wasn’t odd a visit of the High Lady, but this plus the frown in Azriel’s face got her worried.
Was taken away from her thoughts by Nesta’s laugh, who teased about her being able to enchant even childs. Gwyn rolled her eyes but laugh too, pushing Nesta out of the library before Merril came to kill one of them, maybe both.
Azriel kept quiet, now messing with the books on her table.
— We should have a mating ceremony — He let it out.
— What? — She wouldn’t have thought he would make of a ceremony a point to officialize their mating, even because they were together for months now, everyone who were important to them knew. — Why?
He shrugged.
— Don’t you want one? The females use to like these sort of thing — said simply.
Well, thinking by this side… Gwyn had never really reflected if it was a wish. With Azriel everything was so… unexpected and perfect. It wasn’t missing a single thing in their relationship.
— Humm… I can’t see the needing, can you?
He grumbled, leafing though another book just to keep his focus on something else.
— Az... — she realized something but couldn’t believe it was the bad mood motivation. — You’re not mad about what Nyx said, right?
— You said you would do as possible! Why haven’t you said you already have a mate?! — he couldn’t take no more.
— Azriel! He is just a kid! — Gwyn tried to stop the laugh mas it came anyways. It was all so absurd!
Hearing the sweet sound, Azriel expression’s softened. He abandoned the book and headed to her, interlacing her waist his arms. Gwyn passed her owns by his shoulders and her finger though his hair on the back of the neck, kissing him chastely on the lips no longer frowned in frustration.
— I think all I want is that every damn creature on this land get to know that you are mine and I am yours — whispered against the smiling lips of his mate.

I would love to hear your thoughts on gwynriel!
(im sorry 😭 as usual, it turned into a huge rant. gwynriel stans, please do not read.)
the strange thing is that there's not much to think abt. see, with elucien, i even have something to argue about, yk? there is a whole story between lucien and elain and scenes of the two together. but with gwynriel?
personally i've never tried to like it, go after fan theories and really understand why they think it can happen. by itself i don't think there are any scenes besides the az extra to, yk, discuss about? i really can't think of anything. i don't think of them as a couple at all. if you're a fan, i'm sorry but idk what to say.
if you're not a fan then let's continue 😌 i honestly think it's pure hatred for elain because there's nothing, nothing that justifies the strength of this fandom. they basically live off ''IF sarah does this'' or ''IF gwyn is this'' or ''IF azriel is that'' and a million headcanons.
i also find it difficult to happen because azriel was already in love with mor. he spent years in love with mor, yk? and then elain arrives and he gets over his crush, everyone notices the difference in his behavior and it is described in the books that he is now in agony for wanting someone he can't have (elain). it would be weird for me to see azriel with another woman, it would make me question the veracity of his feelings. i have a friend who hates azriel for that, even.
if there's one thing i actively think about the gwynriel fandom, it's that they hate elain so much and i can't see a good reason for it. i always start reading fanfics where gwyn literally replaces elain in feyre and nestha's life, where gwyn acts as nyx's aunt, where elain is constantly villainized and compared to gwyn.
i also think that the strength of the fandom is due to acosf's false advertising. there are a million fanarts, headcanons, people spreading scenes that didn't exist in the books etc. there are even people who say they started reading acotar by gwynriel (😂😂😂).

i don't think gwyn and azriel are a good couple. I see them more as great friends, like Cassian/Lucien and Feyre, funny friends who give each other advice and make jokes (gwyn is the girl of the jokes) she and Cassian would also get along great, they would both love to make jokes about azriel falling in love and nestha would be happy to see her friend happy getting along so well with her partner. and I don't think Azriel has feelings for Elain, all his thoughts for Elain are malicious, he never thought of her with feeling of love. So yes, I also support the entry of a new character who will be your companion. I wish she was (yes, I'm involved in this) from another court and another species, maybe from the twilight, she could be a peregrin/seraphim, this would be a great arc for us to know more about other species + another court. I think all courts have their secrets and customs/cultures, and I would love for Sarah to explore that with new characters 🥹
I got carried away with writing, sorry 😮‍💨
No need to be sorry! I love that you all talk to me and share your opinions with me!!
I can see this happening as well.
It would totally be interesting if he had a mate from another court that we haven't heard much about yet, I'm not sure if SJM would go down that route tho. But I agree that that would be a great arc for him.

Cassian and gwyn would be a destructive duo lol, imagine the two of them upsetting Az about his mate and nestha laughing at the two stooges 😭 CUTE
gwyn and cass teasing az about his mate so nesta takes pity on az and tells him two majorly embarrassing things about them (cassian started crying during netflix and chill once because they put a sad background movie on but he came mid sob) (gwyn once actually accidentally tied her own shoelaces together while training because she was thirsting over one of cassians new friends and proceeded to fall face first in front of him) and so while az is ribbing them about it, his mate walks in and is like “az!! why are you being so mean!!” and he’s like WAIT NO WHAT YOU DONT HAVE THE CONTEXT but obviously cass and gwyn instantly play it up like “oh thank the mother you’re here he’s being so mean make him stop” and “he’s been like this all day we don’t even know why!!”

Headcanon Gwynriel Scene PART 1
Hey guys. I'm brazilian and this is the first time I'm translating my writing from portuguese to english so please take it easy on me 😅 I hope you all enjoy it! This scene is a part of my fanfiction (which I'm posting currently on Wattpad only in portuguese, but if any of you show interest I may post it in english as well) Good reading... ~*~ Some context before u start reading: The last chapter wass Nesta and Cassian's cerimony and she offered Gwyn to move to the House of Wind because when Cassian leaves for missions she feels way too lonly. ~*~ It was in that last conversation that Gwyn was thinking about when she woke up that weekend. It had been two weeks since Nesta had been away. Gwyn arrived earlier at the training ring each day and spent the afternoons working in the library. In her free time, she read Nesta's improper romances - which she was particularly enjoying.
But in that particular week, Merril was incredibly demanding with the research content, so much so that Gwyn took her manuscripts to her room. She rolled over in bed, thoughtful. What would a normal citizen of Velaris do at the end of the week?
Take a stroll around the city.
And that's what she should do too. But there she was, locked in her room. She had promised herself that she would give it a chance.
But the other part, the one that screamed that everything would go wrong... It was still stronger. Besides, there were the nights when she woke up screaming and crying from a bad nightmare. The fateful day in Sangravah haunted her constantly. The disfigured ghost of her sister, Catrin, used to make the nightmares much worse. She didn't want do bother Nestha with that.
Gwyn huffed at Merrill's research papers and decided she had had enough. She had spent the last twelve hours working on the translation of two ancient tomes and was not seeing any progress. Besides... Weekend meant resting. Gwyn sighed loudly and dropped the pen on the desk.
"By the Mother..." she stretched her arms before getting up from the chair. "I wonder what Merril's next obsession will be after she finally proves her theory of connection between the realms."
Gwyn took a deep breath again as she stopped in front of the window. She put her hands on her waist, thoughtful. The research could wait. And the romance was getting so interesting when she had to stop to focus on the new content for Merril...
The priestess sighed and picked up the book, lying down on her bed. But she couldn't read. Not there. Then she felt tempted to go up to Nesta's private library. The one they had had so much fun making silly requests to the House.
Gwyneth had a better idea: to read outdoors. The sky must be beautiful out there. She could lie down on the training ring that would be empty and...
Yes, that's what she would do.
Without thinking twice, she put on something that would protect her from any possible cold, grabbed what was necessary, and went to the House. The lights were on, but there was no one there. Gwyn vaguely remembered hearing Nesta telling Cassian that while they were away, Azriel would teach in the mornings on weekdays, but on weekends he would cross over to Vallahan to accompany Mor in whatever they were doing.
Gwyn hummed as she headed towards the large arch that led to the roof of the House, but then... He was there.
Gwyn halted her movements before crossing the arch and held her breath as she saw those muscular backs without a shirt to hide the tanned skin. Azriel stopped his blows on the makeshift punching bag and turned his body to look at who was present, even though he already knew to whom that voice and scent belonged.
Gwyn cleared her throat before starting to explain herself:
"Sorry, I... I thought there was no one in the House, and I had this desire to read outdoors, so I thought it wouldn't be a problem if I came up here, but..." she stopped abruptly to catch her breath and continue: "If this is a problem for you, I can go back and..."
"Gwyneth," Azriel interrupted her, holding back a laugh. "You can stay."
The priestess widened her eyes.
"Really?"
"Yes."
Gwyn quietly celebrated.
"Thank you," she smiled, walking towards the covered area. "I'll remember this before cursing you in training tomorrow, Shadowsinger."
Azriel chuckled softly.
"Good reading," he said and, after a brief nod, turned to go to the nearest rock where his shirt was thrown. No Illyrian leather, just casual clothing. Azriel put it on and then focused on the punching bag again.
Gwyn sighed, grateful for the small gesture. She opened her mouth to say that he didn't need to put on the shirt, and that she felt comfortable in his presence — even without knowing the reason — and that furthermore she didn't need anyone's pity, but changed her mind at the last moment.
"I don't bite, you know," Azriel said over his shoulder, offering only a half-smile to the Valkyrie.
Gwyn wanted to smack herself. She was there, busy enough — standing, observing those dressed backs and concluding that she preferred the previous sight — to remember to move and choose a place to settle.
The priestess took a step forward, eyebrows raised.
"For your luck, Shadowsinger, I don't bite either," Gwyn replied, keeping her tone calm and serious. "Unless if it is absolutely necessary."
Azriel chuckled. Of course Gwyn would have a smart-ass reply ready. Since the day they didn't win an award for completing the qualifying circuit for the Rite, Gwyn was determined to wipe the smug and presumptuous smiles off his and Cassian's faces whenever she could.
And he kind of liked that.
The priestess started humming softly and cheerfully to herself as she prepared a comfortable place to sit on the icy surface. She had brought a cushion and a sheet to line the floor, not wanting to bother the House with it.
Before she could sit, however, a comfortable mat appeared on top of the sheet and more cushions joined the one Gwyn had strategically positioned against the wall. Additionally, there was a pile with a comfortable blanket, scarf, and gloves. Gwyn rolled her eyes.
Seriously? I can do this myself. I'm not a child, you know.
In response, a mug of hot chocolate appeared next to the blanket. Gwyn chuckled quietly and stuck her tongue out at the House. The mug disappeared.
Hey, I was joking. Sorry.
The mug reappeared, along with a plate full of warm cookies, how fragrant. Gwyn smiled. Thank you.
The redhead settled into a cozy position while humming some soft "humming" sounds. She felt a warm breeze caress her cheeks. Gwyn shrugged, stopped vocalizing, and opened the book while whispering to herself that the House was too dramatic.
On the other side, Azriel, who was absolutely tense and with clenched jaw, relaxed. The shadows were incredibly out of control that night. It was true that Gwyn's presence caused some movement among them. Not agitation, but a small... Commotion.
Even a simple breath exercise from the redhead seemed to stir the shadows. However, it was Gwyneth's voice, her laugh in particular, that seemed to be the real call.
And the shadows... They were happy with a mere murmured singing from Gwyn. That was undeniable. But how was that possible? At that very moment, they were spying on her from afar: crazy to dance with her. They only awaited the master's permission, who, to his discontent, kept a firm hand.
Azriel rolled his eyes. He would have to do something about it, and soon. Gwyn laughed, causing the shadows to threaten to approach again. Azriel gave a scathing look to the shadows over his shoulder, to reprimand them.
"Sorry," Gwyn widened her eyes at Azriel and raised the book. "Funny scene."
Azriel tilted his head, wanting to beat himself up. Obviously, Gwyn would think that the unfriendly look was directed at her.
"It wasn't..." Azriel clicked his tongue. How to explain that he wasn't angry with her without sounding like a lunatic? "No problem."
"Okay." Gwyn shrugged and returned her attention to reading. She tried to laugh quietly to herself, with little success. Azriel smiled. At least she was trying. The shadows whispered to him.
Listen. Closer. Approach.
The Illyrian rolled his eyes: No.
The shadows hissed stubbornly: You're such a brat. Listen to us.
Azriel exhaled in response: Leave her alone.
Azriel swallowed a grunt. Should he leave? No, that would seem too rude. Gwyn had already presumed that he wouldn't like her presence there. Leaving would leave her, at the very least, intrigued. And if there was one thing the master spy didn't feel like dealing with right now, it was Gwyneth Berdara's curious and dangerously sharp inquiries.
So he was left with only one thing: ignore.
Ignore. Ignore. And ignore.
