As we prepare for HOFAS, I have feelings. Maybe it seems a bit dramatic, but for me it's a little bittersweet to arrive at the day where my post-canon-at-the-time fanfic will be confirmed to be no longer potentially canon.
Vérzavar Ház is a story that I am endlessly proud of. I pushed myself out of my comfort zone, pushed my writing, took feedback and expanded stories and feelings. It is the best thing I've created, and I'm so thankful to have had an audience to share it with.
Thank you to everyone who read a chapter, or all 29. Who gave me kudos or called me a monster or demanded that I fix all the terrible things that happened in these pages. And thank you, in advance, to anyone who may read it going forward, knowing that it will diverge from canon.
If you are anything like me, you are fully invested in the Ruhn/Lidia plot line of House of Flame and Shadow. The anxiety is high, the worry is real, and I'm excited to see the development of their relationship in the terrible situation in which they find themselves.
But there will always be a little part of my heart that will consider Vérzavar Ház as the truth, regardless of what happens next.
Thank you to everyone who read this. Good vibes to you as we embark on this HOFAS journey.
Hopefully it will inspire me to break your hearts once again.
Until next time, my friends!

It's not really a new thought for me because I've considered it for Elucien but now I'm wondering we'll see the same for Gwynriel.
SJM doesn't really do massive time jumps once she gets her series rolling. There was 2 months between the ending of ACOWAR and ACOMAF. Another 1 -2 months between the ending of ACOMAF and ACOWAR. Maybe 4 months between ACOWAR and the novella.
And yes, SF picked up about 9 months after that but....SF was the introduction of the spin-offs that (while following individual pairings) are connected to an overarching theme. It was the book that started the current events.
When SJM introduces the possibility of a brewing war, she moves quickly. It's something we saw in TOG and ACOTAR (what with Rhys mentioning a war at the start of MAF and the war occurring about 10 months later in WAR.
The crossover takes place 6 - 9 months after SF and we'll be adding on to that timeline (depending on how long Bryce is in Prythian).
Does it make sense that this:
With a new war possible and Briallyn up to her bullshit with Koschei, we need a strong ally. We need the Spring Court's forces
Or this:
My father went to the continent again last week. / He did not invite me to accompany him. / I can only assume the fallout is approaching.
Or this:
But you and yours have more important things to think about than ancient history. My father is furious that his ally is dead, but he's not deterred. Koschei remains in play, and Beron might very well be stupid enough to establish an alliance with him too. I hope that whatever Morrigan is doing in Vallahan will counteract the damage my father will unleash.
Or this:
Tell my Vassa I'm waiting.
Or this:
Gwyn, despite the Rite, had returned to living in the library.
Or this:
So they would keep training, until they were all well and truly Valkryies.
Or this:
"The Illyrians are going to be furious about our winning, you know."
Have all just ceased to be important in 6-9 months? The bad guys don't just sit around waiting for the good guys to relax and enjoy life for a bit before pursing their evil deeds (also I just cannot imagine another awkward Solstice, especially for Elucien) 😂
Maybe the vibe I picked up in the crossover is wrong but the IC seems fairly relaxed for a group of people worrying about an upcoming war. Feyre arrived in painting clothes, Rhys had his smirky High Lord persona going on, Nesta was all but smacking Cassian up over the head.
I realize I'm reading into a few paragraphs but I'd think if Bryce had arrived in Prythian while everyone was really concerned about Koschei, Spring, etc., the IC wouldn't be in the right frame of mind to deal with her in CC3 or they'll come off a bit frazzled, wrapped up in their own problems that they have within their own world. Not to mention it is a bit of overkill in terms of things for them to worry about (adding the possibility of new villains being able to enter their world when they're already dealing with unrest in the continent, the courts, the human lands and issues with Beron and Koschei is excessive).
(I cannot stop imaging the spin offs to Captain America Civil War and the crossover to Avengers Infinity War / Endgame)
But what if CC2/CC3 is set in the future for all the characters, AFTER the ACOTAR spin-off series is complete? What if the crossover and the signing of the new books is SJM telling us where she's going AFTER the Elucien and Gwynriel books?
What if SJM will now be writing the next 2 ACOTAR books in the timeframe that exists between SF and CC2/CC3 and neither of them will actually mention the events of CC? (since Elucien and Gwynriels journey's deal with very different things, they could easily run on parallel timelines, things happening within the NC and things happening in Spring / on the continent).
I could see Elucien and Gwynriel having their romantic arcs where they deal with Koschei, the Illyrians, the treaty, Spring, yada yada, and where they put a stop to the civil war setup before it happens. Where by the end, all the characters are happily living their best lives with their partners only for SJM to introduce the real threat heading their way, and those books would feature multiple character POVs.
I think the crossover stuff is going to be too big a deal for us to read about it in someones romantic arc and I think if the Asteri do try to make it to Prythian, it's going to involve all the courts, human lands, continent (and therefore more POVs than the ones an Elucien or Gwynriel's books will provide). Can you imagine a book after the spin-off series that features everyone: Feysand POVs, Elucien POVs, a Helion POV, Nessian and Gwynriel POVs, an Eris POV, a Mor POV?
To me, the spin-offs don't feel like SJM is building up to one couple being the big closer. I have a hard time imagining Elain and Lucien getting the grand finale but that's because I don't think any of these romantic pairings seem to rise above the other, that any single couple should get the big end scene especially not in the book where it's centered around their romance (Feysand got together in book 2 with the war in book 3). It's almost like it's a chess game and SJM is getting her pieces into position. Nessian as the generals of the Illyrians and female fighting units. Whatever roles Gwynriel will step into, and Elucien as the leaders of (Spring)?
And once those pieces are in position, then they can all join together for a reason that unifies them all.
There was a fire burning in the townhome at the end of CC2, a place that is supposed to be sitting vacant. What if Gwynriel is already living there? What if Elain wasn't mentioned because she's already in Spring / Day with Lucien?
I don't believe CC3 would spoil anything if that were the case, I don't think we're going to have any real idea of who is with who romantically aside from the already established couples.
If Elain shows up in the crossover, still living with Rhys and Feyre than it shuts down this theory all together. But if she doesn't make an appearance or is casually mentioned as being elsewhere, it could be hinting that she is with Lucien already.
And yes, SF ended where Elain and Lucien weren't interacting and Az was obviously not completely over mor but MAF started with Feyre engaged to and in love with Tamlin, only to end up as High Lady of the NC and in love with, mated to Rhys within 6 months. Based on SJMs writing style, if CC picks up 6-9 months after SF, that does given both Elain / Lucien and Az / Gwyn time to have their character and romantic arcs especially if they're running on a parallel timeline.

I love Gwyneth Berdara.
I know, it may sound obvious, but each day I am reminded one way or another that some people still can’t/don’t want to comprehend some things.
Therefore this is a Gwyn appreciation post because she deserves the best.
I’ve loved Gwyn ever since she was introduced. I was interested, intrigued by her; I wanted to learn more. I found myself getting excited each time she was mentioned or she made an appearance in ACOSF. The more I learnt about Gwyn, the more I wanted to get to know her character even better.
I don’t love Gwyn because I like Gwynriel, or because I hate certain characters. No. I love Gwyn as an individual character, and I want to read more of her story. I want her to have her deserved happy ending.
I love Gwynriel. I am not claiming they are in love (because, obviously, they are not), but there is potential. Potential that, if explored appropriately, could lead to one of Sarah’s best romances - I genuinely get those vibes from Gwynriel.
But if the ship does not happen, it doesn’t mean I’ll stop loving Gwyn. I won’t just switch it up and bash her. Why? Once again, I love Gwyn as a character, not as a part of a ship. Whether she ends up with Azriel, another character, or no one, she’ll remain among my favourite characters, and I’ll still be looking forward to reading about her.
Gwyn is kind, loyal, selfless. She’d give her life for the loved ones. Gwyn is strong and ambitious, and does not let fears conquer her. She’s seriously one of Sarah’s best characters, and it is sad so many people villainize her just because of a stupid ship war.

🧙‍♂️🪄✨✨✨ You’ve been visited by the Wip Wizard! If you feel comfortable, gush a little about the three wips you’re most excited to work on! Then send this to another inbox to keep the magic going!
Oh boy. Y’all know I live with the daily struggle of too many ideas, not enough time. This is the second WiP wizard visit I’ve received but I haven’t had a chance to answer that yet either so, here’s the deal.
First, I’ll discuss three WiPs that have already been published to some extent and then I’ll explain three other ideas, published and unpublished. If a fic is published, there will be a link in the title.
✦ Fics that I hope to finish within the year ✦
1. 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐟𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐬, 𝐰𝐞’𝐫𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐮𝐫𝐧.
(Azriel is the MC, the fic is poly.) This is my CC crossover omegaverse fic. I binge wrote the first 40k words in like 3 weeks and then started posting only life got too hectic and I hit a creative block. Getting back to it is first on my to-do list once I finish this drabble series. It’s currently 7 chapters and will likely end at 12ish. I love this fic because it’s a great time getting to explore Azriel’s relationships with his pack and a not-so-typical take on A/B/O dynamics.
2. 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐑𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐥𝐬.
(Azris) This is a modern/hockey AU. It’s legendary player Eris approaching the end of his career and up and coming star Azriel. They become rivals Az’s rookie year… only Azriel gets traded to Eris’s team his second season in the league. I call this fic “grumpy x grumpier” and it’s true—that’s also why I love it SO MUCH. And this story contains Eris with chronic pain, like me lol, so it’s very close to my heart in that sense as well.
3. 𝐒𝐲𝐧𝐜𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐲.
(Gwynriel) Modern AU. Professor Gwyneth Berdara and former FBI analyst, now private sector exec, Azriel Cantor. For a while I wasn’t sure if I was going to be able to finish this one because some things happened that turned me off of Gwynriel for a while, but I’m happy to say that the ship is starting to feel safe for me again and this fic will be returning in the early winter :) the vibes in this fic might be my favorite thing, it’s very dark academia 🖤
✦ Other WiPs ✦
1. 𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐭, 𝐁𝐞𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐨𝐧𝐞.
(Elucien) A marriage of convenience Regency AU that I wrote the prologue for last July. I literally never stop thinking about this one lmao. Regency Elucien is just one of my absolute favorite things.
2. 𝐍𝐞𝐛𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐍𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐒𝐤𝐲, 𝐅𝐫𝐨𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐁𝐥𝐚𝐝𝐞𝐬 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐅𝐥𝐚𝐦𝐞
Part 1 of this fic is already published and, similarly to the previous one, it’s basically a prologue to a greater story. This fic is going to be a behemoth you guys, its pre-canon and I have so many things I want to do, so many plot points that are going to weave the most delicious and dramatic tapestry. For that reason it’s also very intimidating and I’m not currently in a place to tackle that kind of project so it will marinate in my head for the time being.
3. 𝐇𝐞𝐚𝐝 𝐁𝐨𝐲
(Azris) This is Head Boy and Slytherin Eris x Ravenclaw prefect Azriel. This idea has been living in my skull like a little demon for an entire year and I hope to exorcise it before 2023 is over, maybe for a certain character’s week but life is too bust to say with any certainty.

“Thank you for tonight,” Chaol said, stifling what tried to leap off his tongue: I can’t take my eyes off you.
[ ... ]
And as Chaol rode back to the illuminated palace across the city, he could have sworn that some weight in his chest, on his shoulders, had vanished. As if he’d lived with it his entire life, unaware, and now, even with all that gathered around him, around Adarlan and those he cared for… How strange it felt. That lightness.

Yaz gotta tell you I am living for your page! You make my English major heart soar with this empirical textual evidence driven discourse on your page, and also being hilarious and witty at the same time! Slaaaaay 💅
I really want to pick your brain and I hope you respond because I genuinely am really interested to hear your take. I have read almost all your masterlist but please forgive me if you’ve already answered this. I want to chat about this Lucien/Elain/Azriel situation. Personally I’m team consensual happiness and would be happy with either ship, or even dare I say a throuple, if it’s written and makes sense with the narrative. I see compelling textual evidence that there has been an attraction (I’m not going to say bond because I’m NOT saying mating bond) between Azriel and Elain since the first time they met. I also feel like there is a lot of interesting “trope paths” that relationship could go through- choice vs destiny, forbidden love etc. I also feel there is some compelling evidence of Gwynriel or at the very least Elriel not being endgame. I see less evidence of attraction between Elain and Lucien on the page, but do see compelling evidence of her feelings changing towards him which could definitely signal a clear path for something to develop. There’s great room for tropes of a regency era vibe of arranged marriage to lovers that would make my Classics heart happy. I also think there is a lot of language around Elain that foreshadows them, or at least speaks to their similar aesthetic of daylight, sunshine, color, nature etc. I do also feel like there is some crumbs that could point to Lucien and something with Vassa and Jurien (which ultimately could just be friendship). I’m happy to talk specific quotes with you if you want but I didn’t want this to be longer than it already is lol. Okay so what I struggle with is how these different potential relationships could be resolved. In the instance of Elriel, it is a little more clear that she would reject the bond to be with him and he with Vassa (a very interesting thing that while bond rejection is foreshadowed, she has not done it yet which signals to me it will be important in some capacity) and/or Azriel would duel Lucien (which I really hope would not happen just makes me sad if it’s not a “mutual dumping” as it were) My question is how do you imagine she will resolve Elain’s interest in Azriel and his in her? I am NOT citing my difficulty answering this question as evidence at all! I’m genuinely curious to see the path you think the narrative would take. Okay very curious and hoping you respond! Love your writing again ❤️
Awwww thank you I'm so flattered!😂🤍
And you're on the RIGHT TEAM! Honestly I envy you haha! This ship war is insane😅
Well... let's get to it!
• I disagree that there has been an attraction between Elain and Azriel when they met for the first time. Elain was engaged to Graysen and Azriel was in love with Mor. They were polite with one another but there was definitely no romantic coding there. Nesta and Cassian however😂...
• I think Elain wouldn't find it hard to move on from Azriel, we don't even know what she actually feels for him no? Is it attraction, is it infatuation? Is she rebounding? We don't know. It's definitely not love I'm not convinced someone would fall in love with someone they barely say more than two words to each other. That's not how SJM writes her couples and you'd notice that if you read all of her books and noticed the pattern with her endgame couples.
• I think Elain would put a distance between her and Azriel once she sees his dark side or the his rage since she didn't witness that yet. Mor did and it kept her shaking in her seat. Azriel is similar to Nesta in some ways and Elain couldn't even understand the depth of Nesta's rage and despair. Once she sees him explode she will be like "yeah... I'm taking a step back" because she only saw the best side of Azriel without his flaws yet. I'm pretty sure she would have been pissed if she heard him asking the IC that Elain should not scry even though she announced in front of everyone that she wanted to.
• I don't think a mate rejection will happen with any of the main couples. If SJM wanted to pull it off she would've done so earlier. It's only one scene we don't need an entire book for it to happen. We will either see it with Eris and Mor since there are little hints they might be mates or we might explore it through Helion and Lady of Autumn since they are 100% mates and I think Lady of Aufumn eventually had to reject the bond in order to protect Lucien and her other children from Beron. This is why Helion takes a lot of lovers to his bed, to mend his broken heart because a mate rejection drives the male insane. It doesn't make sense for example, have Elain reject the bond in an Elr*el book and then Lucien moves on with Vassa and they get their HEA. It doesn't make sense for the last book to even be Lucien/Vassa because Vassa once she gets back to Koschei will be in her Firebird form at all times and there is no multipov because each book is about a couple.
• I think Elain and Azriel won't work out. They have idealized images of each other and once those break they'll realize how unfit they are. Elain is used to being coddled and protected and Azriel would happily do that for her and Elain is a people pleaser and usually appeases everyone. They both halt each other's growth because there isn't a balanced dynamic between them. We don't see them challenge each other like the other couples. It's very bland if I may say.
• Sorry but Lucien and Vassa make no sense to me. Their interactions are platonic and friendly from what we've seen so far and we barely saw anything? Vassa had very little scenes. There is an unbalanced and unfit dynamic there. He is High Fae, she is a human queen. He is immortal, she is mortal. She will go back to the continent, I doubt he would leave Prythian. Alright, they live happily after and then Vassa dies of old age, that leaves Lucien with who? His mortal descendants or the humans there who despise the Fae? Do you know what's a better dynamic? A Queen and a general who also comes off as kingly. You had one important scene where Vassa speaks of going back to Koschei and Lucien is giving her a pained reaction whir Jurian's face was unreadable? Why would Jurian hide his emotions at the mention of that? Unless there is more to his emotions that he doesn't want others to read into.
• Lucien and Elain are the first mated couple that aren't in love and this is new. They're like a couple stuck in an arranged marriage they do not want. As you said, they give off major regency vibes. They'll have to work around the bond and figure out their true feelings for each other. I think not only Elain is conflicted by the bond but also Lucien. Elain thought she would end up as Graysen's wife while Lucien believed for years that Jesminda is his mate that he lost. They're kind of in the same place. But Elain experienced the trauma of turning into Fae, Lucien wants to get to know her more while respecting her space. I think once Lucien and Elain set aside the issues between them, they'll have a great appeal. We didn't even get to see their dynamic yet and how they are around each other as they truly are to know whether they'll work out or not. Unlike Azriel, Lucien doesn't have a temper and isn't a fan of violence which is something appealing for Elain. SJM did say there will be tension, growth and healing for Elucien together. We're at tension now.
• As for Azriel's feelings for Elain, I think he needs to deal with his feelings for Mor first. We never got closure and I'm pretty sure that we will likely get it so Azriel and Mor can move on. I think throughout Azriel's healing journey we will have a deeper understanding of emotional turmoil. His reasonings for wanting Elain stem from despair, loneliness and the desire to have a mate. He latched on to Mor because he was waiting for a mating bond to snap. He saw two of his brothers mated to two sisters and the third one happens to be mated to another. He thinks fate is being unfair when fate has another mate in store for him. I don't think his feelings for Elain run as deep as some make it out to be. He was in love with Mor for 500 years! Azriel doesn't even know what true love is yet. I think once he explores what love actually is he'll be able to distinguish what he actually felt for each of them. His chapter literally ended with him thinking of Gwyn's smile and keeping that image in his chest even though earlier he wasnt all that happy because of what went down with Elain and Rhys.
I hope this answers your question and thank you for your kind words❤️

Do you think Bloomsburry did their best to delete that video of Sarah answering a question about El/riel, saying that they’re more like siblings? How come everyone remembers it but no one can't seem to find that video? It's not even a rumor or something, since literally me and so many others have said that they remember it. The thing is that I thought it came from an IG live on Steph's acc in between November 2020 and january 2021 (Idk the exact date), I didn't give a damn about ships back then so I remember thinking "huh, she probably says that just to fool everyone again, idc anyway" when I heard her answer about El/riel. So after acosf, when I got invested in the ships, I went to search for that live but it wasn't there? Then I began to think that it might've been fever dream until I saw an El/riel in a tag (idk which Tag it was exactly but I think Gwynriel?) and that el/riel was showing the "romantic" and sexual scenes of El/riel and literally asked Sarah how she could see them as siblings when they have "romantic build up" like that (the el/riel stan was sad). So I went to ask Yaz and she said that it was an Interview from 2017.. then a few weeks later in the comments of a post, gwynriels were talking about that Interview and one said to go to Twitter and see how the El/riels reacted to it when Sarah said that, so I did and... let me tell you, the El/riels were PISSED. Today, I looked up some post from last year and you commented to another person's comment saying something like "I remember it too, but I can't find it!!" (talking about that Interview)
Did that video of the Interview really just dissapear out of nowhere?! It was there before acosf then it just vanished after acosf??💀Where is it?? It would literally confirm so much..
Oh I can answer this! There never was a video of her saying that, because at the time that she made that comment, it wasn't common for events to be recorded and saved online.
Yes, there are clips of her talking from before the acosf tour, but think about how few of those clips are compared to how many events she must have done. Her Kingdom of Ash tour had nine stops. Her HOEAB tour was supposed to have five stops. The HOSAB tour had one "event" that was pre-recorded. Things have changed.
The pandemic is what made those events start to be recorded and posted online, but that wasn't the norm before. People would buy a tour event ticket, go, take notes as fast as they could, and then make long posts recapping what she said. The posts would get hundreds of notes, upwards of a thousand, because that was the only access that we had to what she had said during an event.
So the whole sibling thing was around 2017, prior to recording being a normal book tour thing. It likely would have been mentioned on someone's blog as a note about what Sarah had said during a tour, rather than an actual recording (aka irrefutable proof) of her saying she thought they had sibling vibes.
We will just have to wait a bit longer to see what she really thinks of them! Once Az gets his book, I suppose.

Elriel and gwynriel talk…
I am sooo conflicted. If gwynriel doesn’t happen I’m fine with that, I’m fine with elriel not happening too.
I believe that Lucien if he’s not with Elain in he next book will be confirmed with Vassa however my fear is that Vassa being mortal will be outlived by Lucien, leaving Lucien alone and heartbroken once again.
Currently, I don’t like Elain’s character or more so how her character is treated so far, in the books I feel that she is shown as a damsel in distress most of the time. I look forward to seeing her fiercer side (that we got to see when she killed Hybern) a lot more in the next book and character development. The characters in the series always find a way to treat or speak to her as if she is a child and I don’t agree with it. I don’t like how Elain didn’t even say thank you to Lucien for the jewellery he gave her, I understand that a lot of her trauma is something he contributed to however I feel as though Elain could be more open to even just trying to be more friendly with Lucien and possibly building a platonic relationship if she’s more comfortable with it in the next book. I also think Elain should take some time and think about the risks of a relationship between her and azriel happening that could influence the next war negatively. Elain is portrayed as completely innocent in the books and I don’t believe that’s how she rly is at all, I believe there will be a much darker side to her shown in the next book while also maintaining the lighter side (the darker side doesn’t have to be sexual and I don’t want it to be).
I believe that if Gwyn does not end up with Azriel then she may (this is just a dream of mine) be with that man in the blood rite named Balthazar. I can see it happening, he, from what we’ve seen, is quite caring and doesn’t follow the misogynistic and harmful traditions that most Illyrian men follow.
Originally I had wanted Azriel to be with a woman from a totally different court I’m thinking summer who doesn’t have royal heritage, isn’t necessarily someone who you would tremble before bc of their power as you do with most acotar characters apparently. Obviously I would want her to be a badass and I think a dark skinned lady with a fiery personality would’ve complimented him so well.
I also thought Azriel was bisexual and would’ve like to have seen him interact with someone of the male gender in a romantic way. I genuinely thought in ACOMAF that he was pretending to have feelings for Mor bc he wanted to hide that he had male lovers. I would’ve loved it and Sarah if you’re reading this, it’s not too late to take this idea into consideration.
I am more of a gwynriel fan than an elriel fan but sometimes I get these moments where I just think that “gwynriel won’t happen, it can’t”. Elain will definitely get the pov for the next book, she’s the third sister, it’s going to revolve around her and it has to be azriel too bc he’s the third bat boy. But that doesn’t necessarily mean that they will be each other’s main love interests, it might tell the story of Elain falling for lucien as she gets to know him and the same with azriel to Gwyn. I hope the next book won’t just be revolving around the love triangle, I hope there is A LOT more action and war in it like ACOWAR.
If there’s a book after the next one I will pray every minute of every day that’s it’s from Eris’ pov.
This post was made to address these romance and mate situations so don’t come at me if I’m making it seem like the romance is the only good thing about these characters please.
Also is it just me or do the books after acotar have such a different vibe? I miss the vibe of the 1st book and how it showed faeries to be a cruel and deadly race, I loved that dark aesthetic. It reminded me very much of how faeries in the cruel prince series are shown as.

Lucien really needs to come first and be happy.
In a way, Gwynriel and Elucien could be the next books.
For me it also depends on the definitive villain, for me the last book and that would close would be Elain's.
But I totally agree that Az currently needs it and it can wait.
I'm of the opinion that the necklace won't even cause drama and that the two women are mature enough not to waste pages and pages with this drama.
And that the story will also start from the point that doesn't even make a difference.
While that's just me I don't think there's any bad feelings or intent to add to this.
And which Sarah just used to show that Elain came out and rejected it in the end, perhaps realizing it's a mistake.
But I think I'm more interested in Lucien's story because Elain's focus is still so little during the 5 books.
When I read Acosf my vibe was wanting to see more of Gwyn, Emerie and I thought I needed an extra well focused on Elain..
But that's because I only got into the vibe of Nesta's book because of the extra bonus.
I agree with so much of what you said.
I write the posts I do which read strongly that Elucien's book is next but that is contingent on the villain, like you said.
At one point, I do think Koschei was the "final" bad guy who would take us through book 2. Because SJM knew who the first two books were going to be about and said the third was possibly going to be a novel set prior to the events of ACOTAR. That means at one point in time, Koschei was never meant to make it to the third spin-off since the third spin-off wasn't even going to be set during the time of Feysand, Nessian, Elucien, etc. So I feel like Nessian was first then Elucien was second. I don't know how this wasn't the lineup at one point considering she said she wanted to write books for both the sisters and had already done research for Elain's book.
But then she wrote SF (and at the same time began to fully flesh out what she wanted to put in the second CC novel which is when she realized the worlds could connect) and she said that while her original plan hadn't changed, the ACOTAR world expanded. Which I think was her referring to the crossover she had planned as well as the idea for additional romantic pairings.
Part of me wonders if her plan is still to address the Koschei storyline in the second spin-off and still write a novel set back in time for the third. Could the third be about Helion and the LoA? Could she have decided to write a book taking us back to the very first war when the Daglan were defeated?
Now that she's contracted for an additional four novels (some of which may be ACOTAR), then it would be an interesting way to resolve the outstanding Koschei / Vassa / Tamlin storylines, taking it back to the time of Fionn before then moving on to the story that results from the information we're about to learn from the crossover.
SJM said the series are meant to stand on their own but I don't know how it's possible for CC3 not to greatly impact the next ACOTAR book unless she decides to rewind and start the next ACOTAR novel shortly after SF in order to build up to the information we eventually learn from CC3.
If you'd never read the CC series then SF would have ended with the issues being Koschei, Spring, Tamlin, the Human Queens, the Trove and the formation of the Valkyries only for the next ACOTAR book to start up with an alien visitor from another world, TT having some connection to Gwydion after being lost in time and space for millennia as well as the possible threat that the original rulers of their world are trying to make it back to take over once again. And suddenly, the threat of Koschei seems laughable compared to all that.
But maybe the Asteri trying to make it back to their original world was a throw away line and Bryce will stop that from happening. Maybe there will never be any real concern that the Asteri could reenter Prythian through the portals. Then that does leave Koschei as the worst villain in ACOTAR so it would make more sense for an Elucien book to be last.
So there's a lot of unanswered questions that make it difficult to figure out who gets the next POV since different answers lead me to think different things. But since SJM loves Avengers movies it makes me think she's going in the direction of the Asteri / Daglan making it back to Prythian and the characters from all worlds will join together in a major battle which means Prythian first needs to avoid a civil war (Elucien type things) before a war of the worlds event occurs.
I, like you, do not think we're going to see any drama with the necklace. I don't think it was ever about the necklace so much as the experience Az had when giving the necklace to each possible love interest. I mean, I do think there is some symbolism to be found between Elain and the charm (seems ordinary, easily dismissed until held to the light - is that not Elain's personality? That no one thinks much about her but there are hints that she'll finally "bloom" when she's away from the NC and in a place of light? With her mate who is the "sun"?). But in relation to Az, it was how he felt after giving the gift to each.
You're right, Elain hasn't gotten much focus and I think so many really enjoyed the Valkyries and their friendship. It's hard not to want to keep the ball rolling once it gets started. But (and I know I'm just repeating myself on this), Elain's ball is only going to get rolling in her book and not in someone else's. She'd be featured in a Gwynriel book even less as she's not related to or friends with either Az or Gwyn and she's supposed to be in the background in the NC. The more SJM keeps her out of focus with the IC, the more it makes sense that she's not supposed to be there. So until SJM gives her a book, I think the Elain we've gotten so far is the only Elain we're going to get
However, I don't think it means nothing that in her bonus Feyre said "let's help one sister before helping the other", that Rhys said Elain is capable of getting her hands dirty, and that SF ended with Nesta placing Elain's rose carving on her father's headstone as a "permanent marker of the beauty and good he’d tried to bring into the world".
These seem very "Elain's time is coming" hints to me.

not rlly sure what this is but thought i would share
why my sjm couple endgame radar is nearly flawless which means gwynriel and quinlar will be endgame with the exception of one couple
dorian and celaena(my only flaw i thought they would be endgame until the end of tog)
choal and celaena(i liked them but something felt off and i didn’t really like him)
sam and celaena(i loved them i knew they would be they’re own kind of engame which they were)
rowan and aelin(i didn’t really ship them at first but i def got endgame vibes from them)
dorian and sorsha(honestly i didn’t give a fuck about them so that feeling works with the fact that she died and had very little impact on the book)
dorian and manon (they just never gave me couple vibes like they both had so much going on that they didn’t have time to be a couple. very much love you as a friend but i am attracted the fuck out of you)
choal and nesryn (they had absolutely no chemistry they didn’t make sense other than convenience)
choal and yrene (knew they were endgame they had so much chemistry and went on a healing journey together. only thing is that i still don’t really like choal)
adeion and lysandra (knew it from their first interaction i called it. i only don’t ship because he was a raging dick to her and she shouldn’t have forgiven him)
lorcan and elide (again first interaction it was obvious they were gonna be endgame)
nesryn and tariq (i mean this one was so unbelievably obvious)
feyre and tamlin (i knew something was off with these two and i never trust a blonde male love interest)
feyre and rhysand (i shipped them from the very beginning because boy was he hot)
nesta and cassian (from their first conversation to acowae to acosf i knew they were gonna end up together)
fury and juniper (i called something fruity happening with these two)
aidas and bryce(this just doesn’t make sense in the slightest and therefore i’m praying it is not endgame)
elain and az (no chemistry no shipping)
gwyn and az (dripping chemistry so many signs please sjm i’m begging you)
émérie and mor (there was one line about these two and i swear they’re endgame)
i’m not saying i’m psychic but i’m psychic. this is all just for fun so don’t take me seriously but remember i’ve only been wrong once and it was the first sjm book i’ve ever read

Hey!
good?
You convinced me that the next book is by Elain, respectively by Elucien. Honestly, it totally makes sense that their book. Their story has been screaming for years to be written. I think her talking about Azriel was a way to keep interest in Acotar.
A chapter of it was good for us to know what his secret was, something that was answered on the page.
If SJM talks a lot about Lucien, we'll automatically know it's a book he'll have pov. I couldn't accept Lucien not getting a book, given that of all the males in the series, he has the most history.
In Starfall Elain was close to Helion and Lucien. The bell rang for me in that moment that when Nesta was settled with the Night Court, Elain was in the same vein as Lucien.
"Lucien can win a book with Vassa" would be too lame, as the two alone wouldn't need the Night Court (Feysand) as central as SJM said.
Book of Elucien would have connection with this couple and court. Now Vassien? it's a big joke.
People are scared or convinced it's Elriel because Azriel gained pov and prominence, and the next book could be Elain's.
If it's Elriel to acotar5 nobody will care about acotar6. Vassa and Lucien would be an isolated core, but bringing Elucien brings so many possibilities, not only for them, it would give space to develop Azriel, Gwyn, pegasus, Daytime and Spring.
But I don't trust SJM that much, I think she makes up some forced stuff and retcons. Expectations are high, but I'm not fooled.
Can you imagine Lucien not gaining a main pov also in acotar5 or acotar6?
All any of us have to work with right now are the possible clues she's given and based on those it feels like Elucien to me.
Of course I could up wrong because what's obvious to me is not at all obvious to someone else who thinks Gwynriel or E/riel is next. But I do think Elucien is a serious contender for the next book!
Az did feature heavily in SF but really, how could he not? He's Cassian's best friend.
Mor was prominently featured in ACOMAF, ACOWAR and ACOFAS as she was Feyre's friend but that didn't mean she was getting the next book in the series. Instead SJM chose to focus on Feyre's sister. Even though Gwyn (Nesta's friend) and Az played major roles in SF, SJM could still once again choose to focus on the other sister.
All her characters are important but it would surprise me if SJM said "Feyre gets a story! Nesta gets a story! But now I'm going to give the next book to a new character over the last sister".
Especially when that sister has had an unfulfilled mating bond since ACOMAF. When Lucien still doesn't know his father. When he still doesn't have a real home. When Spring still needs to get itself together. When we're shown Elain doesn't belong in the NC. To me those things seem a little more pressing than Az realizing he has a Mate after his fixating on having a bond with two other women.
I did love that part and I'm excited you noticed it too!
She had a vague sense of Cassian and Mor and Azriel nearby, of Feyre and Rhys and Lucien, of Elain and Varian and Helion.
Elain is standing with her Mates father! So many possibilities. Does she get a vibe being close to Helion? Does something seem familiar about him?
As far as Vassa and Lucien, I don't know how anyone can see that these lines and believe Jurian and Vassa are happening:
I hadn’t seen them interact, could only imagine what the two of them would be like in the same room together. Both trying to lead the humans who occupied the sliver of land at the southernmost end of Prythian. Left ungoverned for so long. Too long. No king or queen remained in these lands. No memory of their name, their lineage.
Then...
“He’s keeping everything running. I think he’d have been crowned king by now if it wasn’t for Vassa
“Vassa and Jurian are two sides of the same coin. Mercifully, their vision for the future of the human territories is mostly aligned
It doesn't seem like a coincidence that SJM mentions a sliver of Human Land without a king and a queen. That Jurian would have been crowned King and we know that Vassa is a Queen who no longer has her old territory to rule over. That they both share a similar vision for the humans. That's Jassa endgame right there. Plus SJM described them the same way she spoke of Nessian "at each other's throats".
I would be shocked if Lucien didn't get a book because she she always intended him to end up with one of the sisters (Nesta at first until she realized they wouldn't be a match".
She's also spoken of him being one of her favorite characters, changed his father and made that father an even more relevant character to the series, given him unknown yet developing powers, an unaccepted Mating Bond, death of his first love, abused by Tamlin and ianthe, is currently getting a little of the underdog treatment because the others don't realize how intelligent and powerful he's going to be. I don't remember any of her MMC ever getting this kind of main character energy but that's what she's set Lucien to to have.
Thank you for the ask and Happy Friday!

Sometimes some people let their ships rule over them and affect their opinions on one character or group of people just based on that. If you like the inner circle then you dislike Lucien/Elucien or if you DO like Elucien then you dislike the inner circle (Feyre included!). Another one: if you like Gwynriel and Nesta and the Valkyries then you dislike the Inner Circle or if you like the Inner Circle especially Feyre then you dislike the Valkyries. You guys, Nesta and Feyre have made peace, calm down. If you like Rhys then you dislike Nesta and vice versa. Don’t even get me started on the whole Tamlin and Tamlain situation.
Meanwhile here I am: I love Feyre and Rhysand, they are the heart of this series, cry all you want but Sarah has made it that way. Let’s be honest ACOMAF, which is Feysand’s story, is what really propelled this series to become wildly popular. I also love Elucien (team doing it in a field of flowers or in the woods with fire in his blood all the way!) and I want Feyre and Lucien to get a proper revival of their friendship again. They give off total siblings vibe—the kind who will yell at the person who hurt you and then yell at you right after whilst saving your ass and then proceed to roll their eyes at you. Why does this sound like it’s happened already? They’ve been friends ever since she was a little itty bitty human! Probably her first friend ever, anywhere! I hope in the Elucien book (it will happen istg, we get some of Feyre and Lucien again) And I want the Archeron sisters to rebuild their sisterhood! I am not a Nesta Stan but I can appreciate her story and I like the Valkyries especially Gwyn! And I like the inner circle too! When Nesta and Rhys had that beautiful moment at the end of ACOSF I was so happy. Even with all their faults and flaws. I am neutral on Tamlin but I’ve moved on from hating him, just like Feyre has, she told him that she wishes he finds happiness too.
Sometimes I feel as if I am the only one who has this stance. Maybe I just like them all too much. I should be angrier. Grrrrrrr…….yep, that’s the extent of my anger and salt.
I actually resonate with a lot of what you just said! Yes, the characters do things we don't like and they make us mad at certain points but at the end of the day, they are all friends and family (I don't want Tamlin to be in that particular family but I hope he finds his own path where he's happy). And yes, maybe right now there's a lot of crazy emotions and frustrations being experienced between the characters but that's what happens when they're all trying to find their way in this new world. But at the end of the day, everyone that gets a POV is meant to be the hero of the story (especially Rhys and Feyre though they have this extra weight constantly on their shoulders because they are the ones in charge. As much as you love your friend, sometimes you don't love your boss, right?). You might not love this character or that character "the most" but I think the author wrote this series hoping that you'll still feel fond of everyone by the main ones by the end of it. I definitely didn't love Nesta for a lot of the series but I'm really happy to see the place she has now found herself in. Thinks of the ups and downs Aelin and Co. went through. There was a lot of dysfunction but when we finally said goodbye to the characters, there was a lot of harmony that existed between them all and I really do think that's what we're working toward in ACOTAR. Maybe once the dust settles people will finally be able to stop pitting this sister against that sister or Nesta against Rhys (and so on) and the discord comes from the unknown of how it will all play out. But I think you're on the right track with how you feel about it because if I were an author, I'd hope for the same feedback from a reader.
