Here's Noelle's. I checked off "they are soooooo cool looking", "they're deeper than they seem", and "didn't get enough screen time"

"they are soooooo cool looking": I am 99% sure she is Deltarune's Angel.

"they're deeper than they seem": Weird Route really shows an alternate side to her flaws, y'know? There's a weakness in her that, under certain circumstances, makes her susceptible to influence. But there's strength in her too, that despite what she's been through, she still wants to investigate what's going on, because Kris isn't acting themself. (I love how Toby likes to Corrupt the Cutie to let us see what they're made of. Just like what happened to Undertale's Angel ;) )

"didn't get enough screen time": I know it's only chapter 2 and she'll definitely have a bigger role as the game goes on. But I want to see more of this cool girl already. I'm especially excited about the aftermath of Weird Route...

Berdly's. I checked off "they're deeper than they seem", "not as deep as they seem", and "they work better as part of a dynamic"

I don't think theses descriptions completely convey how I feel about him. like. he's not as smart as he wants everyone to believe. and most of the time, his is pretty annoying lol. but also he's shown to have some deep insecurities and self-esteem issues, genuinely cares about Noelle, and he does have some heroism in him.

I'm so curious about his relationship with Noelle and Kris.

Honestly tho Gyftrot's role is so minor. but it seem to have a bigger impact than I remembered! The design is really cool. Its head weirdly resembles the DT extraction machine and Gaster Blasters, which probably inspired Flowey's Photoshop Flowey look...wonder if it's a coincidence or sth.

Gyftrot inspired tree-decorating for Christmas among monsters. And it's staying behind post-pacifist because it likes the peace and quiet... yeah that could be something to explore in fanworks.

So what do you think noelles mom is going to be like? What's your interpretation of her?

Ooooo that’s a great question. I really do love the different interpretations so many wonderful artists put out. The ones with Gyftrot inspiration are really creative in my opinion. And it ties in well since Gyftrot is literally described as a “Christmas Display”.

I think it would be nice to have her be more monster than animal.

Various Undertale Headcanons

Felt like doing this. It's mostly about minor characters and NPCs

The Froggit you speak to about the yellow names is friends with the ruins dummy. That's how it can get the entire underground to change their spare names from yellow to white or pink, despite being unable to leave the Ruins. It just asks the Dummy to tell the folk outside. That Froggit is also one of the only people that know they exist. Most others don't realize that dummy has a ghost living in it

The last non ghost, human, or flower to leave the Ruins were Whimsalot, Final Froggit, and Astigmatism. They had to 'face the horrible monster that guards the gate to Snowdin' to leave (Fought Toriel until she opened the door for them. Toriel didn't do much fighting). Whimsalot feels a lot of guilt for leaving Whimsun behind

Crystal (Snowdrake's mom) was born incredibly weak and was always bound for a short life. The reason she fell in love with Snowy's dad is cause he joked around about her condition. Those around him thought his jokes were in poor taste, but Crystal appreciated someone making light of her situation instead of just treating her with pity and sadness. The jokes sounding mean to Crystal was part of the reason a rift grew between him and Snowdrake

Ice Cap's family has a strong tradition of making ice clothing. It started off as a way to make armor easily, but later just became for cosmetics. Ice Cap's love of its own hat comes from them wanting acknowledgment and attention from their family. Its hard mode counterpart would be called Ice Sage. Probably look like a wizard

Noelle's mom grew up in Snowdin forest, far from Snowdin Town. Gyftrot is an older relative of hers, and like them, she enjoys solitude. Her outgoing husband managed to break through her shell a bit, but after his death, she went back to being a hermit.

Noelle and Dess often sneak off into town together. Going off to get them back home is one of the only reasons Carol ever leaves the house. The townsfolk are slightly intimidated by her

Assuming Dess is around Burgerpants' age and Noelle is around Frisk's age, they'd be about 19 and 12 respectively. Might make them closer to 17 and 13 just to they weren't born so far apart

The red bird in Grillby's is Berdly's mom. Berdly himself is in Hotland for school and to work with Ms. Boom, so they usually don't see each other often. Berdly does call a lot though, red bird telling him about the goings on and gossip in the rest of the underground. I'm unsure what became of Berdly's dad

Alvin is a professor Hotland University, teaching history with an interest in religion and legends

Waterfall has a lot of farms we don't see. Aaron lives on one, but was always more interested in flexing and working on his muscles than actually working. His brother did most of the work around the farm until he fell down. In Deltarune, his brother's still alive, and Aaron is a little jealous of his physique

Loren and Rainy kid are friends

Catti's hair is natrually purple, like her mom's. Catty helped dye it black with a pink streak

Bratty has two younger siblings. Creepy twins

There’s a lot of cool fandesigns for Mayor Holiday already, but I am wondering if the Deltarune Fandom isn’t kinda.... thinking inside the box, when it comes to her appearance. 

I dunno, maybe this game is making me paranoid, but I keep thinking like... with the game is being so Mysterious about the Mayor, I feel like we might be in for a bigger shock than “Older Noelle with Shorter Hair”.

I feel like there’s a non-zero chance that we’ll finally get to meet her in Chapter 3 or 4 or 7 and we’ll find out that she’s been Gyftrot all along. I mean, that is a christmas-themed reindeer Monster who lives around Snowdin (where the Undertale versions of the Holidays are confirmed to reside) who’s otherwise unaccounted for in the Deltarune Timeline. 

Maybe the real reason why Gyftrot is so grouchy is cause she’s been a grieving widow all along? And it adds in an interesting dimension of her being one of the Monsters who’s objectively better-off in the Deltarune Timeline than the Undertale Timeline. 

Or maybe Mayor Holiday isn’t even a Reindeer at all? The thing I keep thinking about, is San’s dialouge in the X-Box-X-clusive Casino, the one that actually confirms Noelle and Dess in the Undertale Timeline:

On one hand “the antlered girl and her big sis” is clearly meant as a way to communicate to the fandom that he’s talking about Noelle, but... it’s still kind of an interesting way to word it, right? As if... Dess is not antlered herself?

There’s a bunch of ways you can read it, maybe Dess files down her antlers in a show of rebellion? But I don’t think we should discount the possibility that, like, not all of the Holidays look like Reindeers. I think that Mayor Holiday could be a Bunny Monster or an Ice Monster or a Penguin Monster or even just a giant blob of slime - and that...

Well, we’re still not sure how reproduction works with Monsters of different ‘kinds’. Maybe it’s like the Cartoon Rules where one baby comes out looking entirely like one parent and the other one looks like the other - so Noelle looks like a Reindeer and Dess looks like....however their mom looks like. Or maybe it is a mix of traits from both parents and Noelle just happens to take after her father a lot, but Dess is more visibly a hybird?

Not sure if this is old hat, but Spamton's allusion to Noelle as an angel with tattered wings is reminding me of how Asriel's angelic form looks like the Gaster Blaster, which looks like Gyftrot... I wonder if reindeer are being posed as angels in general, with the antlers as wings. Or demons I guess, since those can be "fallen angels" and Santa/Asgore and his red pitchfork make for a pretty easy Satan

I've given this a stupid amount of thought but. The only character in the UTDR universe I can really see listening to TMBG is Berdly (and mayyybe Kris). Whenever he's not listening to video game OSTs he listens to They Might Be Gyftrots and thinks all of his song interpretations are the only correct ones and that any song not about love or partying is a high IQ masterpiece. Noelle catches him listening to them and is like "Faha you're listening to a song about a worm doctor?" And Berdly responds "Dearest Silly Noelle, the song is not *literally* about a worm, nor someone with a doctorate level education. It's about a vulnerable person coming to terms with their true identity in hopes others will accept them, a sentiment Correctly associated with the Transgender experience". also he's probably a blue canary and he glows blue in dark worlds so there's that

Do your fankids have special family traditions for Christmas? If so, which ones?

Hmmmm... Not entirely sure. I mean, all of them celebrate Gyftmas, as opposed to Christmas, which was actually in the game and is a holiday of giving gifts as an apology to Gyftrot after a bunch of teens decorated them. The holiday's are very similar, so it doesn't really matter.

I suppose with the Blook kids, Papyrus still regularly hosts the annual holiday party, which Broadway, Rexi, Playbill and Chicago sometimes help with. Broadway's favorite part is decorating with glare Dadaton, Rexi enjoys picking out the playlist, Playbill enjoys cooking with Papyrus and coming up with some gizmo or other to help, and Chicago likes helping with the Holiday Maze.

For the DF kids, I can't think of anything too special they'd do. Mostly just imagine Toriel making Gyftmas pies. Sariel likes to help bake them, while CK's favorite part is eating them.

The Pisces family (Alphyne) would likely have a binge-fest of different anime holiday specials leading up to Gyftmas, where they'd watch the Mew Mew Kissy Cutie Christmas Special on Gyftmas Eve. I also imagine on Gyftmas Day, they have an ice hockey match. Usually just between Giko, Naomi, and Undyne though, since Izuku and Alphys aren't the biggest on sports. The kids might invite some of their friends over, and Undyne might invite Paps over.

For Britni's family, Catty and Bratty go all out both at home and at Trash Mart. Britni finds it a little irritating to be honest, but she enjoys making upcycled ornaments and hand-crafting gifts. Britni's family always hand-makes gifts, not necessarily because they're cheap, but it's more fun that way. Britni also regularly enjoys comparing the similarities between Gyftmas and Christmas, and studying some of the Pagan origins of the holiday. As well as constantly wondering "How/why did they insert Jesus into this?"

Wilbur spends a lot of the Holiday season with his Pops, Asgore, as well as with Noelle and Exriel, as those two interact with the old goat man the most. As a result, Wilbs has a few Gyftmas traditions. He, Exriel, and Asgore try and fail to make cookies, Wilbur often creates gingerbread houses with Noelle, Asgore finds ways to let Wilbur be "Santa's little helper", Exriel gets Wilbur's help with winter gardening in the greenhouse and some of his botany experiments, etc. All of it leads up to Gyftmas Eve where Wilbur spends the day at Noelle and Suzy's house until later in the evening when they head to the Gyftmas tree.

All of them though share one tradition that's a special Gyftmas tradition from all the way back in the Underground. On Gyftmas Eve, everyone will gather around a big tree that the whole community helped decorate and exchange presents. It's become a big an extravagant event since the Monsters have come to the Surface. Now the exchange works by throughout the season, people will leave gifts for people under the tree. Both for their friends, family, loved ones, and even a few unmarked ones to go to anyone who didn't get any gifts from anyone else. On Gyftmas Eve, Santa (who's definitely not just Asgore in a costume) will sit down and read out the names so people can come up and receive their gifts. It goes in alphabetical order and it's a big event, so he usually doesn't get through the whole list before he has to go, but he still tries. After he inevitably has to leave, people are allowed to just grab the gifts themselves. With the assistance of Santa's helpers so nothing bad happens. People are also allowed to pick up gifts all the way until January 6th when the tree comes down and any unclaimed gifts are donated to charity.
