tiktok black metal trends make me disappointed atp… they’re doing exactly what Fenriz talked about a few years ago: just copying each other.
it’s just edgy people with stupid filters, shouting “satan”, while posing with witch hats. literally the stereotypical image we have for bm; the surface, the aesthetic. of course this hasn’t started on tiktok, I’m emphasizing it bcs I keep seeing the same things, recycled. can you even differentiate the accounts?
i’m not calling anyone “poser” bcs that word is horrible and i’m not an elitist. i’m a big fan of “let people enjoy things”, too. what I’m saying is that they lack originality, which also goes for some — a lot, in fact — bands. not everything has to have some kind of meaning, but they’re like brainless zombies following trends.
“The movement, the small but pinpointed things we had in mind, got blown into this big trend, big following thing. l guess the sales of black lipstick
went through the roof.” — Fenriz.
