There is a distant ringing in my head I hear it every morning when I get out of bed I think its a warning             One I wish was left unsaid “This isn’t right” it cries and wails            And the sound scrapes over my bones like nails Something is wrong, I know But what am I supposed to do? There is no space to stretch, no room to grow I’ve just been going along with the flow. There is a ringing in my ears One that has been growing louder over the years “It used to be so much louder”            I tell myself, but the unease remains there is still the ghostly sensation of chains            It’s familiar, a pressure I had once known down to my veins Something is wrong, even if I wish it weren’t If only I had the answers-                        just one would be sufficient             is none that come-            Only questions remain            accompanied by the distant ringing of wails.
