I’ve been looking forward a bit to your review of the upcoming short, remake comparisons are interesting even when the short itself is a bit of a dud.

YOU AND ME BOTH!!! i have like. Patient Porky is a weird guilty pleasure of mine because there was a small point in time when i was just getting into these shorts and really had only seen Bob Clampett’s filmography in chronological order up until that point, so i was oblivious to all of the better cartoons out there… but i was so fascinated by what a weird specimen of a short this one is that it became one of my most watched cartoons HAHA. it has no reason to exist and i hesitate to even call it a remake, because the term “remake” seems to have a sort of purpose behind it, whereas here i feel like it was just Clampett recycling parts of a much better cartoon and hoping that nobody would notice or care. it’s a great cartoon for those who want to see The Daffy Doc but worse in every possible way!

#there are things i do genuinely like about the short though HAHA… i love the song number and the ‘i made a pig of myself’ gag with the cake #in Porky’s stomach candles still a-blazin’ and one slice very politely taken out of it to indicate he had the courtesy to share… i love that #stupid sight gag way more than i have any right to #i’m probably the biggest defender of the cartoon despite there being nothing to defend and it’s not a good short by any means HAHAHA i can’t #get myself to hate it though. easily one of Clampett’s worst with that said #anonymous #asks #also watching that clip is so interesting because i didn’t pay attention to how Porky ‘s lollipop disappears in the next scene for Doc #it’s such an easy and seamless cheat.. but working in animation constantly has made me think about the placement of props and how to justify #their presence and how to get them off screen like i would have been wracking my brains trying to think of how to get rid of it in a way #that doesn’t detract from the main action or take up time and these crazy guys just cheat it entirely! i always love seeing cheats like that #because i can respect it so much

Anyways, guys, I wish everyone who is reading this a Merry Christmas! Or maybe you are celebrating something else this December? But no matter what, I hope everyone is in the good mood these weekends, and doesn’t have to feel lonely.

I said that the past year and I will say this again - celebrating things like sharing, happy family union, peace and joy doesn’t have to be restricted to specific time. If this just so happens that celebration fails - try to focus on the good things and let them happen later. If the person you wanted to celebrate with was busy - meet on a later date and catch up. If you didn’t manage to finish a drawing for this date - trust me, it is better to still draw it later. You will just... know when you are ready. If you couldn’t get a gift for someone in time - you can still bring it later.

As much as it has stronger effect to be caught in the happy mood with everyone at once, this holiday period simply reminds us about good things we have and cherish, not enforces them. It is okay if this is later and more quiet, most important is if it’s genuine.

I personally feel grateful though, that despite my expectations, this Christmas I was able to doodle something for it and do not feel lonely.. But I owe both of these to you, people who like me and my posts! Thank you guys, and I hope that you likewise have very heart-warming things to think about this time!
