OIKAWA & IWAIZUMI
GENERAL HEADCANON ;
The dynamic between the three of you is quite complex for anyone to comprehend.
But if there's an easy way to describe your friendship with them; you three are the epitome of C H A O T I C.
Oikawa is that friend who constantly teases you at the most random times, steals your hoodies every sleepover, who keeps losing the borrowed items from you and the one who's always updated to your love life and gossips behind you.
He mostly gossips with Iwa-chan anyway, so expect your secrets to be spilled within the very next hour you told him you have a crush on their teammate, Matsukawa.
Calls you variety of nicknames, but mostly sticks to the nickname he first gave you.
Would always rant how he's so much better than Tobio in any ways, shape and form. You've had enough for most of them and subtly fall asleep while he's talking.
He also has that tendecy to throw you under the bus when Iwa-chan is pissed off at him when he's late for practice, mostly because he kept indulging his fans.
"You're coming with me, Y/N-chan. I might get lost with all my mob of fans and no one will ever found me again." :(
In truth, you're the human shield for someone who's plotting to make you the bait for his impending doom. It never worked on Iwaizumi either way.
Though, in rare occasions you two would work together to give Iwa-chan more wrinkles than he already has.
And speaking of the setter, Izumi is your nickname for him.
It's quite unique and people sometimes assume this 'Izumi' you're speaking of is a girl. You never really denied their assumptions though.
Izumi takes the role of the Mom in your small group anyway.
He's that sarcastic chill mom who would always keep you and Oikawa in check, Oikawa often blew his fuse and you have to be the hero to hold him back from committing homicide of your close friend 🙃
When he's in the right mood, he'll also share you his food without Oikawa looking.
Would offer you to join them in their practice if you have nothing to do and admonish the team if they're misbehaving around you.
HOW YOU MET ;
8 year old version of you won't think that playing volleyball by yourself in an abandoned park would lead you in meeting two boys occupying the park before you.
Your siblings are athletic and play varieties of sports, one of them being Volleyball.
You borrowed your brother's volleyball to test out a few moves you saw him doing in your backyard.
Being the introverted kid you are, you found a secluded area where no one can absolutely disturb or humiliate you in your attemps.
Unfortunately for you, there was this brunette-haired douche who made crushed your self-esteem.
"Pfft!"
You heard the unmistakable muffled snicker somewhere, your heart almost hit the floor, if that's possible. You find yourself wishing whatever God is listening to you would grant you mutant powers to let the ground swallow you whole.
"Were you trying to practice Basketball instead of Volleyball?" It irks you how he seems so confident he can do it better.
"That's not nice, Oikawa." A boy roughly around his ages emerged behind him with a frown marring his face, "I know! But can't you laugh after seeing them fail?!"
Rude!
"Ignore him please, he's been a jerk ever since."
"Hey!"
You've come to learn their names minutes later and this Iwaizumi guy even helped you by correcting the stance and everything.
You wouldn't ever thought of finding such precious friends and treasuring them.
With Oikawa's first impression to you, it seemed like there was no hope of befriending with that guy.
But oh boy, you thought wrong.
AS TEENAGERS ;
As what stated in the General, your trio is chaotic.
Coincidentally, all of you went at the same school. It was mostly Oikawa begging you two to accompany him in his high school journey.
The two boys immediately applied in the Volleyball Club while you never bothered to apply in any clubs.
You can either be their manager or just be an independent individual. Your choice.
You'd watch their game and always be disheartened whenever they lose to Shiratorizawa.
You'll find Iwaizumi dozing off, often finding him crying by himself in the lockers. It broke you to see him weep for a loss, he's the Ace and the team kept failing because of his spikes.
Iwaizumi was anything but a failure, sure he has his own flaws but not to an extent where he'd be a burden to his teammates. That was just his innermost evil thoughts
Oikawa would ignore everyone and just be with himself, probably rethinking his course of action earlier.
Or comparing himself from Tobio, who's always been his arch nemesis.
You'd try your best to be there with them, no words can ease their pain, but you can offer comforting hugs.
At some point, the three of you cut ties for a week after they lost to Shiratorizawa for the second time.
It was. . . lonely. Even if Oikawa's annoying shenanigans get in your way, a day is never complete without them.
You miss how rambunctious it was, how lively your morning would start despite the feeling of drowsiness because Oikawa is always there to lighten up the mood.
Without Iwaizumi for a day, who's gonna keep you in checked everyday? Who's gonna remind you what you've forgotten, or be there to save the day?
But no matter what storm may come, you three always find a way back to each other.
HOW THEY PROTECT YOU ;
Being Oikawa's friend didn't mean he influenced you with all his knack of mischief and causing headaches to Iwa-chan.
You didn't really have that much friends other than them, so it's less likely for you to have enemies.
However, being close friend with two popular volleyball players means a few attention and jealousy would dart on you unknowingly.
You were the only one who can converse with the two outside the volleyball field.
Many people have tried to make you their gateway to closure to the two, it often pisses you off.
One day, Iwaizumi was trying to fetch his crappy friend for their practice when he heard a statement that made his blood boiled faster than Oikawa's annoying shenanigans.
What's worse is that you were being picked on!
"You annoying bitch! Why are you hogging Oikawa and Iwaizumi as if they're collectable pokemon cards?!"
Say what now?
Instead of mulling over their words, you couldn't help but to be amused at their claims. You've become immune to their harsh words that it becomes a form of your own amusement.
Collectable pokemon cards? Seriously? LOL!
You saw how their mouths move to say something more but you couldn't comprehend what it was, you were busy holding it in.
By the time you composed yourself, a hand slipped around your shoulder and squeezed out of reassurance.
"Hmm! What do we have here?~"
You shrieked at the sudden appearance of your best friend.
Oh, you can't wait to tell it to him.
"You should've heard what they said, Tooru! Pfft, they said you—"
When you glanced at him, your bright attitude dropped. There was his charming smile yet again that makes every girl fall for their knees, however, you've known him long enough to know what it actually pertains to, and you don't like it one bit.
You didn't notice how your harasser flinched back at the anonymous intensity on his face.
This time, the brunette looked at you with softened gaze, "Hmm? What were they saying, Y/N-chan? You look happy despite the misplaced hate comments about you."
You blinked surreptitiously, unsure how to deal with this kind of Oikawa as you have never been in a tight situation like this before. Izumi mostly handles all of his bipolar sides.
As if someone reading your mind and prayers, Iwaizumi came to the rescue but you didn't expect him to side with OIKAWA. The Oikawa? When did the world became square?
"I agree, we can report you to the Principal for bullying, bullying rates in Japan is high and they don't belittle this issue."
Both of them were now barricading your existence from the girls, you can tell Oikawa is holding back himself from committing homicide and the back of your mind tells you Izumi won't even lift a finger to stop his friend.
You never encountered such scenarios anymore, and either of them would guard accompany you in your class. The crowd would part when they see Oikawa or Iwaizumi with you. Great, isn't it? Everyone is now afraid of messing with you.
If you never had friends because of your introverted self then now you have more reasons to have no one but them :)
AS ADULTS ;
Le cries :(
All of you had to separate from College after graduating high school.
Oikawa was accepted in a boarding school in Argentina that focuses more on honing Volleyball players. Iwaizumi just went to the nearest college in his town.
You and your family had to go back in your province. You can only imagine how difficult it was to connect with your friends.
No worries though! Your bond is stronger than any distance.
Group chats were never quiet. Oikawa kept updating you two with his personal life in Argentina, sending blogs, documentaries, calls and random memes he can think of.
Hanging out with Iwaizumi was never scarce.
Every weekend, you'd put everything aside and go back in the City, or Iwa-chan would visit your province once in awhile.
Every summer, Oikawa would come back in Japan to visit his friends and family.
You better be damn well prepared for a shopping spree every time he's home.
He'd bring home souvenirs and random trinkets he found while Iwaizumi would treat him his favorite food.
LOTS of selfies and pictures here and there as what Oikawa would say as his 'remembrance'
"Stop taking a picture of my hairstyle, Tooru. Not my eyelashes! You're not Suna!"
After graduating college, you proceed to apply for a job.
It wasn't long before Iwaizumi became a trainer and Oikawa stayed in Argentina for quite some time.
Life was never boring with them. Even if there's distance, nothing can tether the unbreakable bond you have with them. It's chaotic, but what's life without a little bit of thrill?
That's what it's like to be friends with them. You have each other's back no matter what.
Insulting words may overweigh compliments, but sentimental actions were never lacking. Not a perfect friendship, but also not imperfect.

Anime/Manga Writers: Why don’t the fans like the canon straight couple instead of the non-canon gay ships?
MC looking at their canon love interest: So pretty and fights good.
MC looking at their rival/best friend/partner: They’re like the sun, brilliantly blinding and all-consumingly powerful. There’s a deadly beauty and grace to every action they take. They’re the other half of me that I never thought could exist, the one person who pushes me to be my best self, and life without them would not be worth living. There’s nothing in this world that they could not accomplish and I am but a fool chasing after them in hopes of reaching their level. Even then, having them in front of me/by my side has pushed me to heights I never thought imaginable.

OH MY GOD, OIKAWA WOULD 💯 SLUT SHAME READER FOR WEARING A SKIRT OR SOMETHING SHORT.
Like he doesn’t care that it’s the uniform
He would!!! But like... he doesn't actually believe in it, especially if he's a platonic yandere. He's only saying it to "tease" you or bug you like most brothers do. He'd never compliment you if you ever looking nice, or if he did, it'd be a backhanded compliment. Something like- "that's a nice dress. Too bad you need to wear heels to compensate for your height! Haha, have fun!"
I can see the yandere fan girls actually dressing you up in one of the cute skirts and doing a proper "girly girl" look on you because you mentioned that you were gonna go out on a date (that Oikawa doesn't know about yet and you made the fan girls promise not to tell him because you wanted to see how things would go. In exchange for singing their praises to Oikawa of course, no good deed is free). And maybe they wanted to show you off to Oikawa, let him be impressed by how they take care of you.
They drag you to the gymnasium where he's practicing with the team.
"Tooru-chan!" They call it to him, while you're standing there, arms linked with theirs so that you can't run off.
Oikawa turns towards you, eyes widening ever so slightly at your appearance. You looked beautiful, absolutely adorable.
He walks closer, the fan girls are bubbling in excitement, you are shifting from one foot to another, nervous under his eyes that never leave yours.
"We dressed Y/n up!" One of the girls said cheerfully. "Do you like it?"
Did we a good job, Tooru? They all wondered silently.
Oikawa smiled, and the girls automatically matched his expression, only to turn to confusion as he suddenly began laughing, belly aching, thigh slapping laugh.
He was laughing at you.
"W-what the hell are you wearing!" He said between his laughs, gasping for air.
"I-" you were at a loss for words, immeadiately turning red at his reaction. Did you look bad?
He stopped laughing, slowing down to chuckles as he wiped the tears from his eyes. "Heh, what in the world were you thinking? You looked like someone puked pink on you." He pointed to your skirt and snorted. "And why would you wear a skirt? What are you trying to show off? Your square buff calves? And heels? Wow, I did not know you had chubby ankles." Your eyes welled up with tears, threatening to spill. And the fan girls could sense your humiliation, so they tried to intervene.
The leader of the fan club spoke up. "Tooru, stop joking around. She looks beautiful and you-"
"Was I taking to you?" He cut her off swiftly, glaring at her.
Oikawa walked closer to you until he was right in front of you. He bended his knees a little so he could be face to face with you. His eyes bore into your teary ones and Oikawa didn't smile as his thumb came up to smear the gloss off your lips.
"Pink gloss? Really? You look like an idiot. Change. Now." That was all it took for your tears to start falling as you ran out of the gymnasium.
Oikawa only stared at the gymnasium door that you had just ran out of, as he spoke to fan girls, but to no one in particular.
"Never dress her up like that again. She looked like a slut." He didn't need to say "or else", his fans already knew of the deadly consequences. As he returned to his practice, the girls left the gymnasium, some went to console you, while others went to their room to silently ponder upon your outfit that Oikawa deemed "slutty".
Especially because all of them dressed up like that.
So was it okay for them to look "slutty"? Or did Oikawa not like their style too?
While they went over a existential crisis over their wardrobe, Oikawa was being scolded by Iwazumi for what he said to you. Oikawa didn't bother explaining himself, because he knew what he did was right.
You did not look slutty, but if you showed your skin like that, other guys will get the wrong idea. He knows "locker room talk" the guys have, what they reduce girls to. And he'd rather you he single and insecure by his side eh were he can protect you, than look available and be hurt and heartbroken a million times worse by some scum bag, all while you're away from him.
Tumblr media
What Oikawa didn't see was you leaving the house dressed in your comfy clothes (the girls made you change into the sweats that Oikawa had gotten for you, still trying to win his favour) and meeting your date, who proceded to hang his jacket around you when the wind picked up.
The jacket had his name on it.
USHIMJIMA.
Wonder what would cause Oikawa to have an aneurysm first? The Shiratorizawa jacket that engulfs your body? The picture of you dating his arch nemesis? Or the way Ushijima who towers over you, bends down to kiss you?
My money is on "Ushijima is now a yandere for you and you're the first and last girl he'll ever date and Oikawa will have to pry you from his cold dead arms before he'll let you go."

Miya Osamu x f!Reader
summary: Osamu knows that there’s nothing going on between you and his brother. And yet, he still can’t help but be jealous.
warnings: minors/ageless/blank blogs dni, don't let the summary fool you – this is basically just 4k words of fluff, jealous!osamu, slightly insecure!osamu, married!osamu, dad!osamu, very normal relationship problems, the importance of communication, kita is always the voice of wisdom, osamu is really just a simp for you, reader and osamu are #CoupleGoals
notes: whenever I’m trying to get back into writing, stealing plots from sitcoms is always a guarantee so everything from the title to the banner to the plot is at least 80% lifted from platonic (which is such a wonderful show).
words: 4k
part of the Meet the Miyas series
Tumblr media
Osamu is jealous. And he hates it. He hates the word. He hates the feeling. He hates what it says about him. He really hates how irrational it is.
But what he hates most is that the person that he's jealous of is his own brother (that scrub).
But maybe he's the scrub. Because it's dumb. You've been together for years. You trust him. You love him. You're committed to him. You're married to him. You’re the mother of his child. You're happy with the life that you've built together.
And he knows that Atsumu is your best friend. You were Atsumu's friend before he even met you. Atsumu is the one who introduced the two of you, who set you up — which he'll never stop taking credit for if his speech at your wedding was anything to go by. So of course you spend a significant amount of time with his twin.
It’s never really bothered him before. If anything, he’s typically relieved that you’re so close with Atsumu. The more you occupy the setter’s time, the less time he has to annoy Osamu.
And you’re allowed to have friends and a life outside of being a wife and mother. He wants you to have fun and to be your own person outside of your relationship with him. He doesn’t expect you to go from home to work and back to repeat the cycle all over again the next day. Not that you would ever allow it.
It wasn’t easy and it took a lot of hard work, but over the years, the two of you have built a happy balance between him running the restaurant, you pursuing your own thriving career, being doting parents to a three-year-old son, and still managing to keep your marriage healthy. So this gross feeling of jealousy has no place in his life, especially where Atsumu is concerned.
But it creeps up on him slowly, needling its way into him before he even has a chance to stop it. He first feels it over something so small that it embarrasses him.
He asks you if you want to go see a new movie that’s been advertised for months. His mom and yours are always eager to babysit — sometimes eager to the point of forcing you both out of the house for what’s declared “much-needed grandparent time.”
“Oh, I promised Atsumu that I’d see it with him,” you reply with a slight tilt of your head before picking up your phone. “Let me check with him about us all going together.”
It’s a simple and obvious solution. You’ve already sent your message to Atsumu and are looking up showtimes for that weekend. But there’s a small voice in the back of Osamu’s head insisting that you should be asking him if Atsumu can come with the two of you, not the other way around. The unfamiliar thought makes him feel uncomfortable and he quickly shoves it away.
But just that small, intrusive voice is like a spark and it isn’t long before he finds himself hearing it again, fanning the pathetic, weak flame into something stronger.
One morning, he’s pulled from sleep by the blankets lifting and the mattress dipping. When he cracks open a bleary eye, he sees you doing your best to slip into bed without disturbing him. He can’t check the time on his phone without giving away that you’ve already woken him up. But from the pale grey light of early morning that’s already beginning to brighten the bedroom and the fact that Reiji isn’t already awake, Osamu guesses that it’s between five and six.
He knows that you had plans with Atsumu last night. You told him that you would probably be back late. But “back late” feels like an understatement considering the joys of parenthood usually have both of you up in about an hour whether it’s a workday or not.
When you come down a few hours later, the bags under your eyes and unkempt hair point to your inability to sleep in even after what he can only assume was an all-night rager. You pepper your son’s cheeks with exaggerated kisses that have him giggling over his breakfast as Osamu pours you a cup of what he’s sure is much-needed coffee.
“Ya got home late last night,” he comments as you take the mug that he passes you.
“Ah, yeah. Just ended up going a little harder than I meant to,” you reply and something close to embarrassment seems to cross your features. You glance at Reiji, making sure his attention is on his food before you lower to voice to a furtive whisper. “I threw up in a karaoke room and had to sleep it off at Atsumu’s.”
His immediate instinct is to laugh in your face and he has to bite his lips and quickly look away from you to keep from doing so. You weakly punch his shoulder in response before sitting down at the table.
But the amusement at your misfortune slowly starts to fade, replaced instead by that same voice, which is growing steadily more familiar. He can’t remember the last time that the two of you had a night like that together. He tries to think back on if it was before or after Reiji was born. And while you certainly don’t make vomiting in karaoke rooms a habit, it’s not at all rare for you and his brother to have a wild night out.
When the voice asks why you’re having them with Atsumu but not with him, the only thing he can focus on is the knot in the pit of his stomach and how it only seems to grow tighter.
He hears it again when he’s with Atsumu one day and he asks Osamu what he thinks about you rejecting a new job offer. The question is offhanded — he’s looking at his phone when asks it, barely even giving Osamu a fraction of his attention.
But Osamu freezes. This is the first that he’s heard about any job offer. He didn’t even know that you were interviewing somewhere else.
“What job offer?” His voice sounds thin and Atsumu seems to realize that he’s unintentionally stumbled into something much bigger because his thumb stops scrolling and there’s a line of tension in his shoulders that wasn’t there only moments ago.
“Uh, it’s nothin’ big,” he quickly tries to assure his brother as he puts down his phone and turns to face him fully. “It just happened this week. Some new place made her an offer and she turned it down.”
Osamu merely hums, his expression betraying nothing, but his twin brother knows him too well.
“Look, I’m sure she just hasn’t gotten ‘round to telling ya,” he offers and Osamu can see the slight panic in his eyes. “She had that big meeting. And she’s been lookin’ after Reiji-kun since he’s been sick, right? Thingsve probably just been too crazy fer her to even think about it.”
Every excuse only digs the hole deeper. It’s not just this apparent job that you’ve been pursuing only to turn down that Atsumu knows about. It’s also your hectic work week and how you’ve been taking care of Reiji since the restaurant’s been too shorthanded for Osamu to stay home.
What’s next? Is he going to mention that you’ve also been so busy the two of you haven’t had sex in almost three weeks? From the guilty look in his twin’s eyes, Osamu would bet good money that he’s already aware.
On his way home, he tries to think about the best way to raise the subject with you and ultimately decides that there’s no good way to ask, “Hey. Why are ya tellin’ Tsumu things but not yer husband?”
(He knows that’s definitely the wrong way to phrase it, but that little voice won’t say it any other way.)
But when he enters your bedroom he finds you slouched against the headboard, fully passed out with Reiji sprawled on top of you as he clings to you even in his sleep. The light and tv are both still on. You’re obviously exhausted and stretched thin, while Osamu is looking to pick a fight. The guilt he feels is almost crippling.
It probably hasn’t even occurred to you to mention the job offer with everything else going on. Atsumu is right, which only makes him feel worse.
He comes toward the both of you and carefully tries to pick Reiji up out of your arms without waking either of you. But he’s only just managed to pry the sick toddler loose when your eyelids flutter open.
It takes you a moment to register what’s happening, still feeling the dregs of sleep, but when you do, you give him the softest smile and it makes him feel like an even bigger piece of shit.
“Did you just get home?” you whisper as you help him lift Reiji off of you. But before he can take your son too far away, you shift over and gesture for Osamu to place him in the middle of the bed. “He’ll cry if he wakes up in his room alone.”
“He doin’ any better?” Osamu quietly asks and does as you ask, gently putting him down before sitting down on your other side on the edge of the mattress.
“His fever broke a couple of hours ago, so he should be back to normal in a day or two.” The news is a visible relief to you. It’s not just the amount of effort a sick child takes, but also the worry that’s been weighing you down.
“Wish I coulda been ‘round more to help ya,” he tells you, his guilt about both doubting you and leaving you to take care of Reiji by yourself beginning to peek through.
“Hey, don’t worry about it,” you assure him, lifting a hand to run your fingers through his hat hair. “I know that you’re in a bind since Kimura-san quit. I’m the one with the flexible hours and schedule. I really don’t mind. We’re a team.”
He doesn’t deserve you.
“Well, the new part-timer starts next week so things’ll finally calm down,” he offers and something mischievous sparkles in your tired eyes.
“Good. Because when you can finally take some time off, we’re gonna pawn Reiji off on the grandparents. Then you’re gonna make it up to me by spending the entire night making me cum so hard I see stars,” you tell him, your tone leaving no room for argument, as if he would ever want to.
“I can do that,” he agrees with a grin.
“We haven’t fucked in weeks,” you pout and Osamu can’t hold in his laughter, only for you to slap a hand over his mouth to keep him from waking up Reiji.
Your own quiet giggles are able to momentarily drown out the small voice reminding him about the job offer that you’ve yet to tell him about.
But a few weeks later, even after having the house to yourselves for an entire weekend and spending it fucking on every surface that you could like you used to do before Reiji came along, those embarrassing feelings of jealousy are still as present as ever.
You post a series of photos of you and Atsumu at a restaurant. The first picture is of your happy, smiling faces and the matching pair of five-pound gyoza on the table, one in front of each of you. As he swipes through the series, you both look worse and worse as you try to finish your gyoza. When he gets to the final one, you’re proudly holding a certificate from the restaurant for having finished yours in an hour, while Atsumu looks like he’s on death’s doorstep.
He’s so preoccupied swiping back and forth through the photos that when the restaurant door slides open, it startles him so badly that he almost drops his phone entirely. He doesn’t know whether or not to be relieved that it’s Kita coming to drop off a new order of rice rather than a customer who didn’t read the closed sign.
On one hand, he doesn’t want to deal with a customer while he’s in the midst of indulging that voice that’s slowly becoming a companion. But on the other, dealing with Kita when he’s in a jealousy spiral is even worse.
“Is everything alright? Ya look like ya just got some bad news,” Kita observes with a small frown of concern.
As Osamu assures him that nothing’s wrong, he tries to hurriedly shove his phone into the pocket of his apron. However, it slips from his sweaty hands and skids across the floor of the restaurant where it comes face-up to a perfect stop right in front of Kita’s feet.
He picks it up and when he sees the final picture of you and Atsumu on the screen, he shakes his head in amusement.
“Atsumu only sent me the picture of them at the start of the challenge,” he wryly says as he slides the restaurant door shut behind him and joins Osamu at the counter. He takes a moment to swipe through the rest of the photos in your post before passing the phone back. “I’m surprised ya didn’t go with ‘em.”
“I wasn’t invited,” he mumbled, vocalizing the bitter thought that’s been taking up so much space in his mind ever since you and Atsumu originally made the plans. But as soon as the words leave his lips, he knows he’s given himself away because he can feel Kita’s heavy gaze on him.
“Did ya ask if ya could join ‘em?” is Kita’s annoyingly reasonable response. After a few moments, Osamu gives the smallest shake of his head, confirming that no, he didn’t ask if he could go with you and his brother.
“Y’know, yer wife is an amazing woman,” he finally says when it’s clear Osamu has nothing else to offer. “But fer all of her talents, she’s not a mind reader. Just talk to her.”
Osamu groans loudly at how rational Kita is being. He drops his head down to rest his forehead on the countertop, his Onigiri Miya hat flopping off in the process. While he agrees that it’s good advice, there’s still one problem.
“Kita-san…it’s embarrassing,” he protests childishly and he turns his head to the side to look up at his old team captain. “What am I supposed to say? ‘Stop spendin’ so much time with that scrub!’ I’ll sound like an idiot.”
“Just talk to her,” Kita repeats calmly and Osamu can only sigh. “Why don’t ya tell me how Reiji-kun’s been?”
For the rest of the day, Osamu finds himself trapped in an internal debate over whether or not he should take Kita’s advice. The ugly voice in his head insists that he shouldn’t have to say anything at all. If you really love him then you should already know. The more self-conscious part of him keeps warning him of how embarrassed he’ll be when he tells his wife, the mother of his child, the love of his life, that he’s jealous of how much time she spends with his brother.
But a new voice, one that sounds exactly like Kita, simply asks him if he’s tired of feeling like this. Does he really want to keep harboring this resentment? It’ll only continue to fester and grow until it explodes, hurting everyone he loves.
So that night, after he’s put Reiji to bed and the dishes are done and the laundry is folded and he has no more excuses left to procrastinate, he collapses next to you on the couch with an exaggerated sigh. You look up at him from your phone with an amused smile, only for it to slightly fall when you see how troubled he looks.
“What’s going on? Did something happen at work?” you ask, turning to give him your full attention and scooting closer to him so that you can rest a gentle hand on his thigh.
He shuts his eyes and gives himself a single moment to steel himself before finally letting out the poison that’s slowly been building inside of him for the last few months.
“I have somethin’ to tell ya and it’s gonna make it seem like I’m fifteen or somethin’,” he says and he knows that if he didn’t sound so serious then you would be making a joke about him having some sort of wet dream and ruining the sheets. Instead, you give his thigh a reassuring squeeze.
“Lately…fer the last few months…I’ve been feelin’ kinda…jealous.”
There. The words are out there in the world. You’ve heard them. He can go crawl into a hole and wait for the embarrassment to kill him.
“Jealous? Of what?”
He hates how concerned you sound. You’re not making light of his admission. You’re not confused. You’re being patient. You’re gentle. You’re so much better than him and his childish pettiness and resentment and jealousy.
“You and stupid Tsumu,” he grumbles, slouching down even further into the couch. He glances over at you from the corner of his eye and sees the look of surprise on your face. He shuts his eyes again, balling his hands into fists, and tells himself to man the fuck up.
With his nerves now steeled, he takes a deep breath, sits up straight, and turns to fully face you.
“Look, I know that ya got this weird friendship with Tsumu and that he’s yer best friend. And it’s never been a big deal before, but lately, I dunno…,” he trails off, his gaze darting down before he forces it back up to meet yours. “I’ve just been feelin’ a little…cut out.”
“Osamu,” you murmur, lifting a hand to his face but he quickly takes it between both of his so that he can hold it tight and keep himself steady.
“I love you and our family and the life we’ve built together. I wouldn’t change any of it fer anything,” he’s quick to assure you, needing you to know that you make him happier than he ever thought he could be. “But sometimes I see ya hangin’ out with Tsumu and havin’ fun and it sounds dumb but, I wish I could see more of that part of yer life.”
You softly repeat his name before you climb into his lap. You wrap an arm around his shoulders to hold him close and pull your other hand from his grasp so that you can cup his cheek with a loving touch.
“I’m so sorry that I’ve made you feel that way,” you tell him. “You’re always gonna come first. I don’t ever want you to feel excluded or like I’m trying to keep the different pieces of my life compartmentalized.”
Just hearing your apology and acknowledgment of the irrational jealousy that’s been plaguing him soothes his insecurities and embarrassment.
“I want ya to be able to go do things on yer own and do things with Tsumu without feelin’ like ya gotta bring me along every time. But ya just look like yer havin’ fun when yer gettin’ up to stupid things together and I guess, I just wanna have fun with ya too,” he shrugs. Despite how true it is, he hates how cheesy he sounds. But from the way that you’re looking at him with so much affection, you clearly find it touching.
“I love having fun with you, Osamu,” you smile back at him and his cheeks start to feel warm. “I’d love to do more stupid things with you.”
“Even if that stupid thing is spendin’ 20,000 yen at an arcade to beat a bunch of teens for the high score?” he asks and it comes out shyer than he intended. “Or buyin’ out every flavor of chips and every type of snack from the konbini just to rank ‘em?”
“Even then,” you nod with a grin. “Even if it’s needing to make a cab pull over to throw up after a night of drinking.”
“I thought it was the karaoke room?” he frowns in confusion.
“It was the karaoke room for me. The cab was Atsumu,” you tell him with a laugh and he snorts in response.
But then, since this is a time for honesty, he decides to bring up the question that’s been weighing heavily on his mind for the last few weeks.
“Why didn’t ya tell me about the job offer?” he gently asks, the question curious rather than accusatory.
“Job offer?” The line of your mouth twists down and your eyebrows knit together as you try to understand what he’s referring to.
“Tsumu said ya turned down a job offer. It was around when Reiji was sick,” he explains and his tone turns slightly hesitant. “Did ya feel like ya couldn’t tell me?”
Your eyes spark with recognition before you roll them in annoyance.
“Atsumu’s an idiot. He never listens,” you begin to rant and he’s not too proud to admit that hearing your irritation directed towards his twin extinguishes the last remaining embers of his jealousy. “It wasn’t a job offer. A recruiter reached out about a job opening for a position that involves more work for less pay. I didn’t even reply.”
He feels an odd mixture of relief, guilt, and frustration. He’s relieved that this was just some misunderstanding, but he feels just as guilty for jumping to the worst conclusion and thinking that you were something big from him. The frustration will be dealt with when he next sees his twin and gives him an earful and delivers a slap to the back of his head.
“I’m sorry fer not just askin’ ya ‘bout it sooner,” he says and you just give him a look of understanding.
“You and me, we’re only human. There are just gonna be times when I forget to tell you something or just don’t think to bother with it. But I’ll always do my best to make sure you know when there’s something going on. We’re a team, remember?” You run your fingers caringly through his hair with a soft smile and he leans eagerly into your touch.
“We’re a team,” he repeats quietly, finding the words comforting. He then gives you a slightly embarrassed look. “Hey, don’t tell Tsumu, okay? He’ll just call me a scrub.”
You place a reassuring kiss on his lips before nodding.
“Don’t worry. You’re a scrub, but you’re my scrub and I love you.” He can’t help but laugh as he wraps his arms around your middle and hugs you close. “But, you wanna do something crazy, huh?”
When he looks up at you, it’s to find a hint of wildness creeping into your expression. It’s the same wildness he used to see when you first started dating — before you both became adults and spouses and parents with real responsibilities.
The next day, Atsumu stops by the restaurant in the late afternoon during a lull. His appearance is unannounced, meaning that Osamu hasn’t had a chance to prepare himself for what he knows is to come. It’s as bad as he imagined because as soon as the setter walks in, he freezes, his expression going slack in shock at the sight of Osamu.
Or more correctly, at the sight of Osamu’s hair, which has been amateurishly dyed to be the same shade of grey that he used to wear in high school.
“Don’t even start,” he warns but doing so is pointless because Atsumu immediately bursts into laughter, finding it so funny that he has to clutch his stomach as he bends over.
“Who’s idea was this?” he manages to ask in between his gasps for air and his cackles. “Ya look so stupid!”
Osamu just stares at him blankly, not bringing up the fact that Atsumu is the one who’s been wearing the exact same hairstyle since they were sixteen, and isn’t that even more pathetic?
Because for all of the mocking that he receives, he knows it was worth it for the time he spent joking and laughing with you into the late hours of the night in your tiny bathroom as you did your best to dye his hair without burning his scalp.

you could convince me that furudate didn’t mean to make hinata and kageyama so obviously in love with each other and that he was just trying to write a very intense and obsessive rivalry that just so happens to look a helluva lot like romantic tension.
but how do you explain bokuto and akaashi then? what dynamic could he possibly have been trying to write if not a deeply in love and happily married couple??

could yall imagine msby4, osamu and suna all at your grad at the same time!!!! i think it'd be so hectic and endearing :-(
they'd all come with their own boquet of flowers, probably having coordinated prior on what they're getting you!! the agreement was definitely small bouquets so that you'd at least be able to carry them all (BUT???? WHY WOULD BOKUTO NOT GIVE YOU AN ENTIRE GARDEN???? YOU DESERVE IT!!!!!)
atsumu is def a bit annoyed that bokuto got a bigger bouquet for you, BUT atsumu is the only one who got you a cute helium balloom!!
they'd be early to the ceremony, seeing you before and after!! you told them that it wasn't important for them to come so early (you had to be there 90 mins prior to the ceremony itself to get your gown, degree, and professional photos taken) but they insisted
they as in hinata, bokuto and atsumu... they just couldn't wait
sakusa, osamu and suna were more than happy to arrive on time... but for carpooling purposes and actually being able to find parking, going all together was the better choice
but what's 90 minutes?!?!??! time went by so fast with the number of pictures you got with them even before you got your gown
you'd obviously get solo pictures with everyone, all of them smiling in their photos that'd let everyone know how proud they are of you!!!
hinata definitely has his cheek pressed up against yours (careful not to smudge any of your make up though if you're wearing any!!), has an arm around your shoulders, and has his other pointing at your degree with you hold it! his smile is so bright and his eyes squint up. he giggles as you two take the photo which ends up making you laugh and show the camera a cheesy smile.
bokuto would have an arm around your shoulders too!! resting his cheek on top of yours and practically caging you as he gives the camera two thumbs up!! you'd smile big and mimic his pose which gets everyone laughing since you honestly give off "mini me" vibes with him
atsumu for sssuuurrreee sticks his tongue out in his photo with you. arm around your shoulders--not really since he puts up a peace sign behind your head to give you bunny ears--and his other hand pointing towards you. he'd wink at the camera too and they'd end up catching a photo of you rolling your eyes at him (that's the one he'd post LMAO)
sakusa, of course, is a little more reserved--but he's so proud of you and your accomplishments!! his arm still wraps around you respectfully and he smiles for the camera. he takes off his mask completely for you so you both get a good photo. he's definitely the most formal when it came to taking a photo with you (but anyone would be able to see how happy he is to see you graduating with the way his eyes squint up and his smile looks so natural)
osamu is super natural when taking a photo with you!! he's got an arm around your waist which atsumu calls him out for (he flips atsumu off LOL) and you laugh. someone gets a picture of this before the actual proper pose hahahaha. he'd tilt his head towards you and point at your degree, his smile cheesy and body language proud
suna, same as osamu tbh, but he practically headlocks you with how close he brings you with his arm. he smiles, rests his cheek against your head, and smiles at the camera while pointing at your degree. his smile is smth everyone gets caught off guard with--since when was he so soft?!
during the ceremony, the rowdy ones get restless because why the hell is it taking so long ahlddjsjdjdjdj but!!!!!
as soon as they see you getting ready to walk, they're EXCITED
everyone is up from their seats, clapping and cheering for you as loud as they can (except maybe sakusa, but he's still definitely standing and clapping obnoxiously loud) as soon as your name is called and they cheer allllll the way until you walk off the stage
the rest of the graduates and audience laugh at their enthusiasm, but, of course, find it endearing as they're yelling things along the lines of "that's our graduate!!!" "walk that stage y/n!!!!" "i love you!!!! give me your autograph!!!" "thats 40 thousand dollars right there!!!!"
and of course some people know who they are!!! you're definitely the talk of the town and some people are jealous you've got the rowdy volleyboys cheering you on so excitedly!!
after the ceremony, more pictures are taken (lots of group photos and silly ones too!!) and this time even with your family.
your family thanks them for coming and comments on how hilarious it was to hear them cheering. it gives them a great feeling (esp one of comfort!) knowing that you are loved so dearly by others!
the boys are also invited for dinner and who are they to say no?!?!?!?
later, they're definitely all posting photos on instagram!! hinats posts on his story and makes an actual post for you--he filmed your walk and definitely posted that, probably captioning it with "slaying their best slay rn 😫" LMAO,,, he also makes a cute collage of you, obviously wanting to highlight YOU as the graduate, for his story. for his post, he makes a photo of you two together the first photo, followed by a bunch more, a group photo, and then his favourite solo picture of you giving a cheesy smile to the camera as you hold up your degree!! he'd caption his post with a short cheesy paragraph about being proud of you and knowing you'll have a great future
bokuto also posts a video of your walk on his story and his yelling is so loud 😭😭😭 everyone who watches it definitely turns down their volume LOL but it's super sweet!! he follows it with a photo of you two together and just sticker bombs it. he also makes a post, making the first picture one he took of the bouquet he got you, then his favourite picture of the both of you, following it with more duo photos, a group photo, and even a photo of him and the boys while they waited. he captioned it with "SO HAPPY FOR @ YNUSERNAME !!! CONGRADS AND REMEBER ME WHEN YOU'RE FAMOUS!!! LOVE YOU!!!!!!!"
atsumu spams his story of your entire graduation actually LOL it started with him getting ready, him with osamu, the both of them getting you each a bouquet, him getting a balloon, them meeting up with the other boys, the hectic car ride that consisted of a loud karaoke session much to sakusa's (the driver) dismay, a video of them seeing you for the first time and how your face lit up, two 6-photo collages before the ceremony (mostly pictures of the both of you striking many different poses), a video of you getting ready to walk and him saying "it's happeenninng!", a video of you walking and his screaming (he's the one who yelled that he loves you and wants an autograph for suuurree), and bunncch of photos afterwards. he posts one group photo followed by his favourite photo of the two of you on his feed and captions it with "so proud of this scholar!!! c's get degrees!" and you're definitely defending your honour in the comments when you eventually see the post LMAO
sakusa, more reserved tbh, posts a picture of you walking the stage on his story! he has a video but thats for safekeeping and he fucking hates how loud atsumu was jsdkdjshdkdjsjdj anyways,,,, he tags you in the story, follows it with a cute photo collage with a couple cute stickers that said congrats! and some confetti, and he also posts a group photo on his feed. he captions it with something sweet and simple! "congradulations to @ ynusername. so proud of you and your success :-)"
osamu posts a video of you walking on his story (volume included LOL) and he's also cheering for you! a part of the video he posts, the camera turns to him and suna and they both exaggerate their cheering. they laugh together but it gets cut off (((and everyone who views it replays it just to see that part again))))). he posts a lot of pictures on his story, so obviously proud of you, and he also gets pictures at dinner! he's late for the actual feed post because he forgot LOL and the first picture is of him, you and atsumu together! it's a silly photo, of course, and it's follow by proper ones, duo photos, a group photo, and a cute picture of you! he captions it with "sry it's late :P happy grad to our happy grad <3" and ofc the boys put him on blast for being late
suna is similar to atsumu (not surprisingly) but not as aggressive. he definitely makes it more mysterious as to where he's going on his story as he posts a mirror selfie of him all dressed up (practically a thirst trap ugh....) and even posts the cute bouquet he got you without context LOL. after that, the next story post is a video of you scurrying over to him and the rest of the group. he posts a picture of the two of you together (def a .5 pic) and captions it with a simple "with the cutest graduate" !! of course he films your walk, posts it, and follows it with a collage of photos! his post for his feed is of the two of you (his favourite photo ofc), followed by a group photo, one with the boys, one with osamu and sakusa, a selfie, and then a silly one of you (probably a picture of you zoned out during dinner because of how tired you were LOL). he captions it with "cograds @ ynusername B] slay your best slay 🫰🏼"
anyway 😭😭😭 grad with these guys would definitely be so much fun

Halooo!!!
Can I have some headcanons on what's it like being the miya twin's little sister? Like how each act with their sis and all? (who also may or may not have a crush on sakusa hehe)
Hmmm! Okay! I’ll try this out! Been a while since I’ve even touched Haikyuu so let’s see if I remember the Miya Twins enough to write for them! Also… these pretty short tbh! Sorry! Hope, it’s okay!
Older Brothers! Osamu Miya and Atsumu Miya
Tumblr media
God. You think the Miya Twins being just with each other is bad enough? Nope. It’s even more chaotic when you throw their little sister into the bunch. It’s a big ball of mess and disaster
Osamu prefers you to be independent and teaches you to cook so you can care for yourself. Atsumu, on the other hand, wants you to always rely on him so he can take care of you
Hence why the twins bicker and fight over you. They have contrasting ways of treating you and it annoys both of them. Osamu is more responsible and level-headed whilst Atsumu is more wild and rambunctious. Osamu bonds with you over painting and café hangouts, Atsumu bonds with you over arcade visits and general mischief
Osamu wants his little sister to behave as a good, functional, well-mannered lady of society whilst Atsumu believes his twin is trying to control their sister and tries to encourage you to be whoever you want to be. Osamu doesn’t like his twin trying to support their sister being destructive
Like with the laidback and stern parent. You got the laidback older brother and the stern older brother. Atsumu treats you like a old friend and doesn’t mind being so open and casual like Osamu is more like a protective momma bear and wants you to never take influence from Atsumu
I swear. Osamu isn’t controlling, he just wants the best for you. He just can’t keep his twin from convincing you to go rob a store— go hold Aran at gunpoint— go have fun by pulling a prank on Sakusa
Speaking on Sakusa. Your brothers are not happy with your crush on Sakusa. You’re younger than him and he is so bland and lifeless. You deserve so much better and detaching you from this crush is one of the only times Osamu and Atsumu will willingly work together, instead of fighting over opposing views. They both agree you deserve better than their own teammate
Should Sakusa even just talk to you, Osamu and Atsumu are pouncing on him right away and trying to threaten his ass into avoiding you like the plague. It’s protective, loving intentions but wrongly executed big brother behaviour(whilst Atsumu has it worst, Osamu is as tame as possible). You wish they weren’t so protective over you…
Osamu prefers handholding where you have your own space, Atsumu loves holding by the shoulder so there is no personal space
Osamu is very proud but hides it under his mellow, strong character whilst Atsumu acts on his pride and brags. Anytime you win a reward, Osamu’s recording you getting the reward for both himself and his parents to admire whilst Atsumu is being your biggest cheerleader, loud and wildly calling out your praises
The Twins would prefer you do not watch their Volleyball match practice but do attend their official games. Having your approval and feeling your pride towards them helps make them feel unstoppable
Overall. These brothers have contrasting treatment of you but the things they share is that they love you so much, that they’ll support and adore you, that they’ll always protect you and that you’re better than everybody around you
It’s pretty cute how affectionate and lovey-dovey and cuddly these twins are to you. Atsumu will express his affections outloud and in public with no shame, Osamu prefers to do it in private, domestic locations since his self-awareness is too high and his protectiveness is as high

cannot stop thinking about unlikely friends yachi and kiyoomi. they probably first met during nationals in kiyoomi's last year in itachiyama. maybe she piqued his interest when he heard her tell hinata to go back to the bathroom and wash his hands properly. they met again in uni and stuck together until they graduated and had to part ways because of their career choices.
and it probably was a gradual thing too, how they became friends. with kiyoomi being generally prickly and yachi being so shy. they just started sitting at the same table one day in the library. then, small nods of acknowledgment became hesitant attempts at small talk. then, it turned into kiyoomi crashing into the chair across from yachi that he has deemed his throughout the semester and immediately complaining about some professor while yachi nods in sympathy. then, it turned into yachi buying two orders of her coffee for that day because she knew kiyoomi would try stealing her coffee under the guise of "i just wanted to try what sugary concoction you brought today, hitoka. c'mon." that he swears he doesn't like. they probably also have matching keychains that kiyoomi bought for them on a whim one day when he was out in the city. and kiyoomi was definitely the person yachi had on speed dial for when she went on dates that started well but ended up making her uncomfortable. and in turn, yachi was the first one he told about you, about the person he was paired up with for a class presentation. she was the first to notice when kiyoomi started crushing on you, even before he himself realized. to notice the way kiyoomi would stare at you longer than necessary, gaze warm with an undercurrent of longing. and the way it might not be as one-sided as kiyoomi deemed it was when she catches you stealing glances at him when you think no one was looking. and naturally, yachi is the first to set the both of you up, ditching the hangout the three of you planned with motoya and tsukasa (that was two weeks in the making, mind you) because "ah, sorry! a very important deadline was moved to today and motoya, tsukasa-san, and i haven't even done half of it." kiyoomi would be disgruntled at how bad that excuse was because the three of them aren't even in the same classes, let alone groupings. and he tells yachi as much. you are none the wiser of course. "i'm really sorry!!! i was so excited too :(( we'll make it up to you both okay? xo" yachi would send to you and to kiyoomi, "if you don't end up kissing them by the end of tonight, don't even bother texting me. good luck!" - [Today 10:19PM] thanks, hitoka

Training Camp Shenanigans (Nekoma & reader)
Summary: As a former club volleyball player, the reader is a great manager for the Nekoma boys team. She's just one to get into trouble when she isn't being so serious...
── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
(Y/n) (L/n). A third year now at Nekoma High School. You played Volleyball the entirety of your junior high years, and had a massive love for it; you even played for the High School girls' volleyball team in your first year.
That is until you had broken your arm on a vacation over break to visit your family in America. It had taken a lot longer to heal because you still tried to practice with it broken, which your doctor yelled at you about. You were just lucky it was your non-dominant arm.
So here you were, at a volleyball training camp, not playing. The reason being that while your bones had healed, you were still “baby guarding” your once broken arm, and trying to build back your muscle and strength in it. That ultimately made you quit playing competitive volleyball for the girls' team, which they understood, but were still sad to see you quit.
Starting the second half of your second year, you began managing the Boys' volleyball team. Coach Nekomata was also keen on letting you give them tips, from one player to another.
Although your experiences differed greatly, you were an excellent player when it came to volleyball.
That and the boys on the team absolutely adored you.
Right now, they are doing a penalty lap of “penguins” (as you call them) after losing a match to Fukurodani. In a kenma-like fashion, you pulled out your phone and began playing Bejeweled.
All too soon, your phone disappeared from your hands. You looked up to glare at the culprit, That’s my focus game, asshole!
“Haaah? What are you, 70 years old?”
“If your penguins are over with, a call out would’ve worked just fine,” you hissed. You tried to snatch your phone out of the taller boy’s hand, but he countered, holding it high above your head.
You glared, “I swear, Kuroo, I’m coming for your kneecaps..”
“Eh?”
Kuroo stared at you blankly, and you took the opportunity to jump up and take your phone out of his loosened grip.
Sometimes he forgets how good of an athlete you are, formerly or not.
“Come on, the next match is about to start.”
“R-right...”
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
You were now refilling the water bottles for the team, humming a random tune. The last match of the day was still going, but you also knew that all of the teams would start their free practice after a short break, and you would have to go help out making dinner.
Then again, you could probably get out of it because you were terrible in the kitchen. Given that it was day one of the week-long training camp, you could probably be banned from the kitchen for the rest of the training camp.
You grimaced at the thought.
“What are you thinking about?”
You jumped, almost dropping the water bottle in your hands. You turned your head to see Yaku looking at you with a small smile on his face.
You laughed, “Ahaha, nothing much, just how I have to finish filling the water bottles and go help out with dinner.”
Immediately, Yaku started freaking out given your history with cooking.
From the doorway to the gym, Lev stared at the two of you yelling at each other.
“Uhh...”
Kuroo and Bokuto were chatting just behind Lev, the former taking notice of the first year’s lack of movement.
“Oi! Lev, if you have time to stand around then you can start working on your spikes!”
The platinum blond jumped. “Right!”
He took a moment to turn and ask Kuroo what was happening between Yaku and their short-ass manager.
Kuroo’s eyebrow twitched, while Bokuto started laughing his ass off at the two of you outside the gym.
“...I don’t know.”
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
After somehow setting the rice cooker on fire Kiyoko-san and Mako-san immediately banned you from cooking for the rest of the week. They didn’t even want you to do the dishes.
While you expected this, it still hurt your feelings.
Dejected, you started walking towards the gyms to let everyone know that dinner would be ready in about an hour.
“Oya?”
Kuroo, Bokuto, Akaashi, and Tsukishima turned their attention away from their practice as you dejectedly entered the gym.
“Chibi-chan!”
Bokuto excitedly ran up to you and started chattering away. He left you absolutely no room to talk, making enough noise for everyone present.
“A-ah, Bokuto...”
Akaashi sighed, walking up with Kuroo to shut up their owl-like friend.
“Sorry, (Y/n)-chan,” Akaashi said.
You laughed, now pulled out of your mood for getting kicked out of the kitchen. “It’s ok Akaashi-kun, I know how he is.”
“I know.”
Kuroo bent down (almost uncomfortably since he was a foot taller than you) to wrap an arm around your shoulder as you deadpanned. His signature smirk was plastered on his face, giving you a bad feeling.
“Oya oya, (Y/n)~” Uh oh. “Why don’t you help us teach this baby bird with blocking?”
Of course, he asked that... you thought with a twitch of your brow.
You sighed heavily, “I was only supposed to come let you guys know you have another hour before dinner is ready.”
“You got kicked out of the kitchen didn’t you?”
You froze. “Ho- Why would you think that???” you started laughing nervously.
“You can’t cook for shit, (Y/n), we all expected this,” Kuroo deadpanned.
“Yeah...”
“So...” His signature smirk made its way back to his face as he geared up to ask you again. “Help us teach him how to block? Spike some balls for us?”
After thinking about it for a moment with a pout on your face, you gave in. “Fine, I’ll spike for you guys.”
“HEY HE-!”
“But only if you agree to stop making fun of me for playing Bejeweled.”
Now it was Kuroo’s turn to be shocked, slightly pulling away from your much shorter form. “You’re still mad about that!?”
He regained his composure as Bokuto and even Tsukishima laughed at you two.
“Fine, but I still don’t get why you play a game for old people.”
You scowled, then swiped your leg back to push in his knees harshly.

You figured something like this would happen, so you brought your volleyball gear with you to the training camp.
After you agreed to help the boys in the third gym out, you did still have to go inform everyone else about dinner. Afterward, you changed and headed back to the gym.
There were still 45 minutes left until dinner should be ready once you found your way back to the third gym.
Some of the other school’s players noticed you walking past the gyms again in your volleyball gear, shoes in hand. A certain duo took special notice and went to Daichi for answers.
“Huh? Ah you mean the Nekoma manager?”
“Is that who she is!?” Hinata asked excitedly.
“Y-yeah,” Daichi replied. “She was one of the regulars for the girls' team up until last spring.”
“So cool!”
“Regular?” Kageyama inquired. “Then why is she their manager now?  Shouldn’t she be playing for the girls' team?”
“Ah, well, from what I heard she had an injury that made her switch gears. However, a friend of mine from Tokyo said that she was well on her way to becoming the ace of the Nekoma girls' team.”
“No way...!”
As you stepped back into the third gym, putting on your beloved volleyball shoes and then beginning your warmup, you also watched the two idiots and Akaashi giving a quick lecture to Tsukishima.
“Ah! Welcome back Chibi-chan!”
“I’m all warmed up now, so whenever you want to get to the play I’m ready,” you replied with a smile.
Kuroo asked Akaashi to go set for you on the other side of the net, while he, Bokuto, and Tsukishima would try to block.
You threw up the ball toward the second-year setter, then ran up for the hit.
You had complete focus on the ball, and the three very tall boys on the other side of the net.
What none of them knew, was that for the past few weeks, you gathered up your friends from the girls' team and had them help you practice. You were still a bit unpolished in your movements after not playing seriously for such a long time, but none of that seemed to matter at that moment.
The cold, serious look on your face as you spiked the ball with such power scared even Kuroo, who was very used to playing with you during practices. He’d never seen such a look on your face.
It unnerved him.
Nonetheless, he had set the timing for the block almost perfectly. Unfortunately, you aimed directly for glasses’ slightly spread-out arms.
Your spike went directly between his arms like a hot knife through butter.
It was exhilarating.
Tsukishima stared at the ball falling behind him in shock. He was absolutely sure you had no chance of going between his arms like you did, or through any of the three for that matter.
“Aghhh, I should’ve expected that from (Y/n),” Kuroo commented. “Well, if that’s how she’s going to play, it looks like we might have to match her energy.”
The rooster-haired boy grinned with a determined look in his eye.
“Alright Tsukishima, let’s do it again,” the blond glanced at Kuroo as they set up their block again. “Remember, though, more experienced spikers like (Y/n) here will look for even the slightest hesitation, or the smallest opening in your stance and position. It’s important to keep that in mind.”
“R-right...”
“I’m going againnn!” you called out.
“Oonnne, two!”
Needless to say, the 5 of you came back after dinner to continue practicing (although Tsuki was dragged back against his will).
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
It was day 3 of the training camp when Kuroo and Yaku came to both you and Coach Nekomata with a special request.
“E-eh!? Why do you want me to join in on the practice? I should be taking notes a-and getting the waters and-”
“Well,” Yaku began, “We know you’re still a really good player, (N/n)-chan.”
“And, we know you still need some practice yourself,” Kuroo added.
You scowled. “Kindly fuck off, Tetsuro.”
“(L/n).”
“Sorry, Coach.”
The old man looked back at his two third-year players, “I’ll allow it.” You and the boys smiled excitedly. “But, let me talk it over with the other coaches first. While they may or may not know how good of a player she is, this is still a training camp for the boys' teams, so they might be against it anyway.”
You three deflated visibly but understood where the coach was coming from.
This training camp isn’t for me as a player, so I don’t really understand why they would ask...
You looked down at your hands.
It can’t be helped... I quit on my own. It’s no one’s fault or responsibility but mine that I haven’t played in any matches.
“-/n)? (Y/n)-chan?” Yaku called to you with a softness in his voice.
He had immediately picked up on your change in mood at the shutdown of the request from him and Kuroo. The latter had also picked up on it, seeing as he had been a close friend of yours since your junior high days.
He knew just how painful it was for you to not play, it’s why he convinced the Coaches to let you in on practice rather than just take notes for the team from the sidelines.
Nekomata hadn’t ever seen you play until the first time you joined in on practice for 3 on 3 matches on a trial run. Kuroo’s lame excuse was that since you were a player yourself as well as their manager, you would have a better time gauging their strengths and weaknesses if you witnessed them firsthand in a match. It wasn’t necessarily wrong, as it certainly did help you gauge their abilities better, but it was still an idiotic excuse.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
Nekomata gathered the team together in front of the bench. Their two-hour lunch break had just ended, starting the practice matches back up.
You had yet to make your appearance back at the gym. No one knew why just yet, but a certain third-year duo had an inkling.
They were correct of course.
Just as Nekomata finished his little speech with the team and sent them off to warm up, you entered the gym in full volleyball attire.
“You see, our manager was a star player on our school’s girl team. She’s just as tenacious as those boys are, but I think it may also be a good learning opportunity for all of the teams.” Nekomata explained to the other coaches.
“Huh?”
“I get that she was a player before, but...”
Keishen and Takeda shared a look with one another before the former spoke up.
“We’d like to go along with it.” Ukai looked around the cafeteria to the players and other managers. “It’s a bit unorthodox, but because she’s a third year, and from what I’ve seen of her games-” Nekomata gave the young coach a look of surprise at that comment- “Nekoma’s manager is a force to be reckoned with.”
“Is that so...” Shinzen’s coach said.
Nekomata pulled you aside as you were refilling the water bottles a while before the practice matches were to start back up.
“I talked to the other coaches about your request.”
“Chibi-chan is playing!?” Bokuto practically screamed.
Akaashi looked up from their team circle in surprise, as did many other players around the gym, including the resident God-like quick duo.
You tried to act nonchalant about it, but it was starting to be really hard not to focus on all the eyes on you courtesy of the other boys in the gym.
Yaku grinned in delight. Kuroo gave his signature grin. Kenma looked a bit surprised at your small frame in volleyball gear, but quickly returned to save his game before starting warm-ups. Even Yamamoto had started crying.
“ACK!” Lev scooped you up into his arms and squeezed you as he cheered.
“L-Le-Lev!”
“OI!” Yaku quickly kicked the back of the first-year’s knees, allowing you to breathe again. Once you were accounted for as safe from Lev, Yaku began berating the first year for quote-unquote “ALMOST KILLING OUR POOR MANAGER” .
You and many others sweat dropped at the two.
“Uhh, Yaku? We need to warm up now...” you gently patted his shoulder.
You were nervous since the Nekoma boys were the only boys you’ve ever played against, but as soon as you had begun the first match of the afternoon all of your fears melted away.
Once you were rotated into the match against Fukurodani, switching out with Kuroo, you gave a signal behind your back to tell the team the play you wanted to use.
You know every single one of their strengths, weaknesses, and plays. You and the Coaches had come up with a large majority of them together, and you studied each player like you were going to have a pop quiz on the team at any given moment. Not to mention you practiced with them literally all the time.
Bokuto and Akaashi knew you were good, but during the first set, they greatly underestimated just how good you had gotten since the last time they joined Nekoma in a practice match (which was only a few months, but you had also been putting in a lot of work to get back up to your previous level and then some).
You guys didn’t win the match against the Owls, but it left a mark on their psyche at how close it had ended.
Scary... they Fukurodani players thought to themselves.
“What’s your analysis on the players, (L/n)?” Coach asked after your penalties.
You used a towel to wipe some sweat off your face, staring into the ground blankly.
“...They’re good,” you said. “But we can also be better. The next time we go against them, I think whenever Bokuto is on the court we need to give him more kill blocks than soft blocks. We gave him way too many soft blocks this time around, myself included.”
“You heard her,” Coach clapped. “Shut down more of #4’s spikes next time, but if you do find the need to intentionally get a one-touch, I advise you to do that as well. Sometimes it can’t be helped, to be honest...”
Nekomata grinned, seeing that Karasuno just got their asses handed to them by Ubugawa. They just started on their dive-receive penalties.
“We’re against Karasuno next,” Kenma mumbled.
“That’s right! Lev and (L/n)-senpai were gone for our practice match against them, and those two haven’t shown their ‘weird quick’ yet in front of her,” Inuoka commented.
“Weird quick...?” you inquired.
Kuroo and Kenma started talking about it.
“It’s fuckin fast.”
“It’s Shouyo and Kageyama’s extremely fast quick attack.”
You put a hand to your chin, thinking about something.
The team left you to think, getting into position.
You and Yaku, the last ones to leave the team huddle, started talking strategy for the next match, although Yaku assured you this should be an easy one to win; they were all out of sync and still trying to perfect their new quick attack with Hinata’s eyes open now. Their star players were pretty shitty right now, you had to admit.
You also knew though, that the second they got their shit together your team would be in an uphill battle.
─── ・ 。゚☆: *.☽ .* :☆゚. ───
It was the last day of the training camp. You were excited to finally head home soon, but you would certainly miss seeing your new friends.
Over the course of the training camp, Kuroo and Kenma introduced you properly to some of the players from Karasuno.
Kuroo had to admit though that he was jealous at the instant click between you and Sugawara, though; it almost made him regret introducing the two of you. This is because while you were a pretty serious person in and out of games, you were an absolute menace to society. Daichi felt the same about Sugawara, just he was exceptionally polite and kind to mask his menace personality (for the most part).
And because it was the last day, Suga and yourself roped some others into participating in a prank war.
It started with you replacing Suga’s water for soy sauce in the middle of a game when no one was looking, as retaliation for him putting a shit ton of curry powder in your curry and you had to, uh, retire for the rest of the night. However, what you didn’t know was that you managed to put it in Daichi’s water bottle instead because you were panicking about getting caught by Suga, Kiyoko, or their Coaches.
Daichi thought it was Tanaka and Nishinoya that replaced his water, who in turn thought it had to have been someone like Yamamoto, who thought it was Lev, and so on and so forth. The only people who suspected you of the ‘crime’ were Kuroo, Kenma, and Yaku; they had known you the longest and knew about your... habits. They also knew what had happened with your dinner the previous night, and had the suspicion that you wanted payback.
Things didn’t get any easier at the celebratory lunch, either. You somehow acquired water balloons and got Bokuto, Hinata, Kageyama, Inuoka, and a couple of others from the other teams to join you in wreaking havoc.
“Ahhh, youth,” Nekomata said at the sight of the large group of high schoolers screaming their heads off while getting absolutely pummeled by the small group of idiots with water balloons.
Keishin Ukai stared at the sight in both horror and shock.
“(Y/NNNNN) (LLL/NNNNN)!”
You froze at the sound of an irritated Kuroo. Yaku was close behind the tall rooster-head, equally if not more irritated. You slowly and mechanically turned to make eye contact with them.
Uh oh.
“Hey, hey....” Kuroo drawled.
“Tet-Testu I didn’t-”
He and Yaku started sizing you up and you prepared to run for your life.
“(Y/n)....” Yaku muttered when they were within a short distance of you. “GET YOUR ASS OVER HERE!!”
“AHHHHHHHHH!!!” You screamed as your favorite fellow third years started chasing you, both soaking wet and attempting to beat your ass like irritated parents.
“I’M SORRYYYYYYY! PLEASE I DON’T WANT TO GET WET IT WAS A JOKE! I SWEEEEAAAAARRRRRR!”
“YOU AREN’T ESCAPING THIS ONE, GET BACK HERE!”
Some had paused their war to look at you getting chased by the Nekoma captain and libero. They watched as you got violently tackled at the top of the hill and then came rolling back down.
Daichi had already corralled his evildoers and was in the middle of scolding them. He paused to smile at the antics before going back into his Dad Mode™ and continuing to yell at his teammates.
“Right.... Youth....” Ukai spit out.

Personal opinion but if you’re writing Bokuto and Akaashi in any setting together, they should be a little in love with each other in every interaction for it to feel in character.

if plat!yandere!shiratorizawa found out their “frail kitten” doesn’t like how she looks like (most of the time she’s insecure) would they comfort her or gaslight their way for her to think of something else
There's so many things they could do. Let's start with the basics-
They'd all gather up in your room, arms crossed against their chest as they ask you to explain why you've been crying for the past few days everytime you looked in the mirror. Of course, you try to brush them off, change the subject, but the moment Ushijima says your name in that dead, monotonous voice, you know its better to tell them the truth than whatever punishment Ushijima would deliver.
Y/n, sniffles: idk... I just... I feel so ugly...
Tendou: oh hon, you're not! You're the most beautiful human being! *the rest of the team murmurs in agreement, except for Ushijima*
Y/n, shrugging: I- I understand that's how you see me- or at least pretend to, but I just- I personally don't think I am beautiful...
The team looks at Ushijima for help, who's just been staring at you all this time.
Ushijima: I think you're blind.
Y/n, and the team: huh?
Ushijima: your vision must be getting weak. Its because of you being on your phone all the time. I'm confiscating it until you learn to manage your time better. And you better eat all those carrots I picked up from my farm. I'll make you carrot juice, carrot soup, carrot smoothie, carrot cake-
Y/n: what no-
Ushijima, narrowing his eyes: don't say "no". You will eat those damn carrots. I'm not risking you going blind because of your stubbornness.
Y/n: my vision is fine! It's because of you I feel so ugly!
Ushijima, confused: what do you mean?
Y/n, sniffles: it's because you won't let me go shopping on my own! Or- or- hang out with my friends! Or have any friends at all! My only recreational activity now is you forcing me to train with you at yhe gym! And i dont even like to work out! I'm ugly- because of you!
Ushijima:
The team:
Y/n:
Ushijima, walks upto you, places his hands on your shoulder: I'm sorry, Y/n. I didn't know you felt this way. I thought you already knew how pretty you are. Look- *proceeds to turn you around to the mirror* I know I don't say this enough, but look at yourself. Look at that face, at those muscles, at those calves. Even your hair looks like me, no? You are beautiful, because you look like a mini version of me.
Y/n:
The team:
Ushijima:
Y/n:
Ushijima: you are a mini Ushijima-
Y/n, proceeds to wail and run out of the room crying:
The team:
Ushijima: what? Ill go check-
Semi: no- ill go check on her. You stay here, Ushijima.
Ushijima:
Tendou: YOU GAVE HER THOSE UGLY BANGS, TOSHI?
Ushijima, nods: yeah. She said she wanted to go to the salon for a hair cut. So I did it instead.
The team, starts laughing: Oh you messed up, Ushijima. You messed upppp big time!
-
Semi, after putting reader back to bed: y/n... would prefer if no body ever called her mini Ushijima, ever again. And I'm taking her to salon tomorrow, to repair the damage...
Ushijima, still doesn't understand what was wrong the choppy bangs he cut with kitchen scissors: you... can take my card.
