You go through life thinking more or less you know the basic rules of how the world works— surely what everyone taught you must be close to accurate, right?

The ground is the ground, and the water flows around you. Fire is not something one can hold, and wind is a fickle flighty thing.

And then, all at once, you’ll come face to face with something that will show you that you know very little at all.
