#we cool beans art show #doodles #hlvrai #hlvrai benrey #gordon hlvrai #creepy tag #body horror #hlvrai au #eye contact #infection au #mushroom infection #dont really have a story i was just inspired to draw the horrors #havent drawn horror art in a good bit so this was a good excuse too lol #i have another like. actual hlvrai horror au that i made like. half a year ago #but it involves a looot more body horror. so like. idk. #but anyways for this mushroom infection all i have is #mushroom spores that infect people who inhale too much of it #like pistacios au its a xen desease that causes violence and confusion but different #because Benrey is from xen the spores are already designed to take over his body and control him. #something that wiped out Benreys race #but because humans are not native to xen they only become spore carriers #the worst for humans is confusion. exaustion #and slow death #but the mushrooms cant control them like it can organizsmz from xen #so. thinking an ailen infected with spores shows up in Black Mesa. Benrey is wary of the creature seeing the spores #science team want a closer look dispite Benreys panic. #gordon had inhaled spores and was infected. another parallel to pistacios au #Gordon grows extra exausted only to start growing mushrooms. later getting Benrey infected #Benrey doesnt explain the horrors until its too late for him #Black mesa becomes hellish mushroom jungle and Benreys hunting the team for sport. all the while everyones dying anyways

Intellectually I understand where people are coming from, but personally I do THE biggest double take every time someone boils down conservative Christian ideology (and/or secularized cultural reflections thereof) to a kind of dour puritanism that proclaims happiness is sin/suffering is a moral good/everyone should be miserable all the time. Like I get it! I do. But also, institutionally, I have never met a group of more passionate worshippers and vicious defenders of their own comfort than evangelical Christians. There is a reason the common thread between my various weird triggers more or less boils down to "toxic positivity." There is a REASON my exvangelical tag is #walking away from omelas.

i am definitely the only person who cares about this but I was re-reading parts of Sea of Monsters (irrelevent as to why) and. in the chariot race. well, a.) The Ares cabin has skeleton horses. where did they get skeleton horses? and then, actually more confusingly, b.) almost all the other chariots besides Hephaestus cabin (they have automatons) have normal horses. not pegasi. Percy actually specifically identifies the Apollo chariot’s horses by breed which is very funny to me because Of Course He Would but like. We never see CHB have normal horses at any other point in time? Where did they get the horses?
