The boys conjure up a bizarre junket by Mark Mehler

On Bourbon Street, in the heart of New Orleans’ fabled French Quarter, the sign reads, “Bob Harrington-Chaplain of Bourbon Street.” Upstairs, the freelance minister administers to the wicked minions below, while across the street, the Hotsy Totsy lounge features naked women parading across an oak bar from dawn to dusk, and next door, the “X-rated Shop” specializes in scatological posters and joy sticks.

This is Freddie Mercury’s favourite American city, where the Mississippi ends its majestic flow and zealots with big dreams fight a losing battle against hustlers, procurers, and all purveyors of sleaze. It is Freddie Mercury’s favourite city because the lead singer and bucktoothed front man of Queen is, above all, an actor. And in New Orleans, anyone can be anyone they want to be. Tonight, October 31, 1978-Halloween-Freddie Mercury and Queen have flown in 80 reporters from the U.S., Europe, Latin America and Japan, to see a show and be a part of a show at the same time. The third concert on Queen’s 28-city U.S. tour is in the ornate Civic Auditorium. Above the stage are listed the names of the mighty: Shakespeare, Michelangelo, Cellini, Durer, Gounod. Out of the soft blue and green lights and smoke, Freddie Mercury struts like a rooster, striking ballet poses, under an astral guitar blare that neatly skirts the sharp edges of rock & roll. The melodies are undistinguished, but the constant tempo changes of “Bohemian Rhapsody” and “We Will Rock You”, keep an audience awake for nearly two hours of uninterrupted music. The lighting show is one of rock’s most ambitious. Eerie purple lights shine out over the heads of the audience, making their hair seem cloudlike and inanimate. At the midpoint of the show, a smaller stage is lowered from the ceiling and 400 lamps meld into the sheer white plane of curtain light. Freddie is a whirling dervish, dominating every corner of the stage.

“Some people call this song ‘Spread Your Legs’, he tells the audience, introducing ‘Spread Your Wings’. “And I like it that way”.

Starting out in black sequins, he comes out for the first encore bedecked in orange hot pants, dancing around like Peter Pan. For the second encore he’s wearing a revealing, white body stocking. As he wails ‘We Are The Champions’, his voice warbles with mock emotion, and he grasps the microphone for support. At the apex of the triumphant denouement, the top executives of Elektra Records, who have sat smiling throughout the show, arise as one and walk out. Moments later, the show closes with a taping of ‘God Save The Queen’. Body and soul spent, Freddie ambles off stage, drained and spark-less. But Halloween night in New Orleans has just begun.

Back in the ballroom of the Fairmont Hotel, over 400 people have gathered to await Queen and much on a sumptuous table of hors d’oeuvres, such as Oysters Rockfeller and Shrimp Creole. A Dixieland band plays uninspired jazz jingles, until, shortly before midnight, the Olympia Brass band comes marching through the hall accompanied by Queen-the mercurial Mercury, the winsome Brian May, the puckish John Deacon, the velvety Roger Taylor. Suddenly, like a giant circus orchestrated by a deranged ringmaster, a legion of strippers, vulgar fat-bottomed dancers, snake charmers, drag queens, and bizarrely festooned revellers, begin to strut their stuff before the assembled masses. Freddie Mercury is besieged by hungry autograph seekers, groupies and fame-worshippers. People begin shielding their clothes, as an ever-imaginative photographer snaps Freddie signing the bare backside of a willowy transvestite. Freddie begins sucking on his giant overbite nervously, and by 2 a.m., he is mercifully gone. Brian May, who seems to be the true organizer of the night’s carnival, is cornered by persistent Japanese newshounds. “It’s wonderful,” he keeps saying. “It’s so nice to be back.” As the evening wears on, epicene men and butch women act out charades of power that would have embarrassed Hemingway. Three obese black women in g-strings do a pathetic bump and grind, and another female participant amuses a small gaggle of onlookers by putting a cigarette in an unlikely place. People leave to check out the scene on Bourbon Street and drift back to the party like cigar smoke. At 4 a.m., a Queen security guard, haggard and irritable, inquires when it will all be over. “Queen wants the naked disco dancers going to dawn,” informs his partner. And it does. The following day, Queen reappears at a press conference at Brennan’s, one of the French Quarter’s most elegant restaurants. Again, it is Roger Taylor and Brian May who dominate the conversation, as Freddie Mercury seems vaguely preoccupied. The subject of all this is ‘Jazz’, Queen’s new album, which contains no jazz. “People think we take ourselves a lot more seriously than we actually do,” says Roger Taylor. ‘Jazz’, Queen’s reunion with former producer Roy Thomas Baker, offers ‘Mustapha’, an up-tempo Hebrew rocker; ‘Fat Bottomed Girls’, a song that owes a lot to Pure Prairie League’s ‘Amie’; and more indulgent rhapsodies like ‘Jealousy’ and ‘Bicycle Race’, with its topical references to Star Wars, Jaws, and Superman. The ad campaign, like everything about the Band, goes to the limit of good taste: 11 bare-chested, major-league-yabboed women racing bicycles.

“It’s cheeky”, admits Freddie, “naughty, but not lewd. Certain stores, you know, won’t run our poster. I guess some people don’t like to look at nude ladies.”

Freddie, 32, was born in Zanzibar and educated in India, and was a childhood table tennis and hockey prodigy. He studied art and became a graphic designer and illustrator, having given up piano lessons in the fourth grade. But he continued singing, fronting his first band at 14 and forming Queen with Roger and Brian in 1970. After the routine easy grilling, Mercury is cornered outside. “You seem to be removed from the character up on stage. Is that really you?”

“No,” says Freddie, “of course it’s an act.”

He denies pandering to gays; or for that matter, to anyone. He hints at a quiet, restless man who needs to step outside of himself for ego-stimulation.

“I have fun wearing all those costumes,” he says. “I can really cut loose up there”.

Freddie is then swiftly ushered out, and again, Brian May is left behind to field the endless questions of the Japanese. The two-day junket, painstakingly directed by and for Queen, ends with a few straggling journalists eating Bananas Foster and being more cynical than usual. Outside, on Bourbon Street, a folk singer entertains an empty house of red velour seats, affirming that a falling tree makes a sound whether it’s heard or not. Which conjures up something Brian May had said about Queen constantly seeking “direct communication with our audience.” For all the words that describe Queen’s trip to New Orleans, direct is surely not one.

strange question, but do you have music recommendations??? i think you've reblogged crane wives, bear ghost, will wood, tally hall, and go! child at one point or another (all of which i enjoy very much). it'd be fun to get some new music recs! First things first, everyone should go listen to the music artists listed above they're all very good <3

Starting off, a band that you should definitely check out is finish ticket. They are a band from California and have very good music <3 my personal favorite album of theirs is when night becomes day with my favorite songs from it being wrong and color <3 the type of sound they have is an interesting mix of chill and melodic and also cathartic/ energetic. They're actually one of the only bands I've seen perform live so far and the main singer's stage presence is phenomenal.

Next artist is qbomb which has a pretty different vibe. Qbomb is very loud frantic fast pace punk kinda thing it gives me the zoomies and scratches my brain <3 also my favorite songs from them are built a giant robot out of trash, insania, poison pop, and 1000000 ad <3

Next artist! Sarah and the safe word! I don't have much to say about them I just like their music. Best songs from them are bottom of a bender and welcome to winterwood <3

Next up is katzenjammer! Fun fact! This band was recommended to me by my old improv teacher and we did clowning scenes to their music :] very circus-ey sound. Best songs are to the sea and demon kitty rag <3

And last one for now because it is midnight, creature feature! This band is pretty much the epitome of Halloween. Imagine Halloween as a band and you get creature feature. A lot of their songs are actually based on old horror movies or twilight zone episodes :] also favorite songs are buried alive and greatest show unearthed <3

Last movie/TV show: Ultimate Spider-Man (2012) because I love to suffer, I guess (ie watch for fleeting Doc Ock/classic villain appearances even though this show is turning out to be my personal nightmare version of Spider-Man)

Sweet/Spicy/Savory: I have to pick one?! Sweet, I guess. That answer’s gonna change in an hour though.

The Crying Child witnessed Charolette Emily's Death (a theory) Part 2.

Continuing with my theory, there is one thing that needs to be mentioned. When fans were figuring out what the Crying child witnessed that made so distress. The biggest one is that he witnessed the death of his sister Elizabeth. While yes, seeing your sibling being killed right in front of you is traumatising. We know that Circus Baby's Pizza World was openly opened in one day. With him saying the four animatronics plushies are his friends and the fact that he keeps going back to the Pizzeria itself. It makes sense that It is FredBear's Family Diner that he has a problem with.The reason why, he goes there it's because that where his dad, William Afton to get away from his older brother Michael Afton who keeps making things worse for him.

With the missing Children taking place in 1985, it only make sense that the crying child witnessed Charlie's death rather then anyone else's. Another thing to note that the the crying child's favourite ride was the Carousel, the first and only time we see a caurosel up until FNAF Help Wanted 2 is in FNAF 2 where it's located near Balloon Boy, Scott Cawthon said that Nightmare Balloon Boy is Canon which the rest of the other Halloween animatronics are not, however I do think Nightmarrione whom is nightmare version of the puppet could be know seen as Canon. Another thing I believe that the Crying Child may have seen the death of Charlie is because how connected they are. Let's start with the fact that their father were co-owners of Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria and FredBear's Family Diner. Charlie's age could be either close to Elizabeth and the crying child meaning they may have hang out with one and another.

Another thing is that Steel Wool is probably telling us that Charlie's death and The Crying Child's death took place in the same year. During FNAF Help Wanted 2, you have to collect 6 memory plushies. Many of the plushies tend to be found in games where they have some associated with. Bonnie is found in bonk a Bon, you gotta make 4 chica related food and drinks to get chica, foxy is found in the log ride and freddy is found in fazerblast after being the place getting burnt down.

However the puppet and the golden Freddy's whereabouts are opposite to themselves. The Puppet plushie is found in a sister location game where you opened the drawers and type 1983 to get it. I thought that this was strange because the puppet doesn't have any connection to sister location nor the year itself, while the Golden freddy plushie is found in the hard mode in Fizzy Faz Night 3 where the staff bots are replaced by the nightmare Bots that look like nightmarionne. So it would make sense If they switch the puppet plushie and the golden freddy plushie since 1983 has always been associated with the crying child whom passed away at the year and is one of 2 kids whom possessed Golden Freddy. This is steel wool telling us that 1983 is not only the year where the crying child head gets his head crush but it was also the year of Charlie's Death and I believe that midnight motorist show us that.

When it comes to midnight motorist, the one thing I do find interesting is how sympathetic Michael is towards his little brother. Through the Mini game in FNAF 4, Michael and his friends keep scaring him which causes him to breakdown and cry but in the midnight motorist he is telling his dad to leave him alone since he had a rough day. I see this as at one point, Michael sympathetic towards the crying child because they are mourning over the lost of their sister. I think that William Afton used Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria as his hunting ground and in order to keep his youngest son from going to the place. He probably had Michael to scare him so he ends up fearing the place, however the crying child isn't scared of Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria but rather he's scared of Fredbear's Family Diner and the he witnessed Charlie's death outside and it traumatised him so bad.

Welcome to the MIDNIGHT CARNIVAL~

You are cordially invited to Vievecor City’s annual Halloween Party that is organised by the demons on the island to celebrate a most wonderful time of the year. This Halloween party will take place from the night of October 30th to the morning of November 1st.

This party will take place in Hedon and party goers will enter the space through the entrance of Vicium and be transported onto carnival grounds where the festivities will take place. The demons have a message for all their guests and that is to 'Enjoy yourselves~'

The theme of this year's Halloween party is “TWILIGHT CIRCUS”. Guests can interpret the theme as they see fit and dress accordingly.

As a mini-task, players can pick their character’s costume for the party and post it to their blogs at any time. Please add the hashtag #vchalloween2023 and #vievecorcitytask to these posts.

RULES

Our Halloween Party Event will run from Oct 25th, 12pm EST to Nov 1st, 12pm EST. In-game, everything will happen from the night of Oct 30th to the morning of Nov 1st. Players are free to choose whether to participate or not, but it is highly encouraged for everyone to do so. Characters who do not know of the supernatural world will have to sit this event out but they will not be penalised for low activity. Once the event has begun, we ask players to only post starters which are related to it. Please tag all new starters with #vievecorcityevent and #vievecorcitystarter and @vievecorcitystarters. The open starter rules still apply! We advise players to place prior threads on hold during our event week, however, this is not required. Full event details will be released at the start of our event on Wednesday, October 25th, 12pm EST. Stay tuned!
