Well, at least he’s not curled up under the sink. — Yeah, no, he’s just sitting there silently field-stripping his weapon.

remember when sam spent five days without any sleep when hallucifer was driving him crazy, and a drug dealer asked him if he wanted something to knock him out and he accepted it and slept in the guy's car, yeah I think about this a lot

s9 hallucifer who keeps telling Sam that he’s possessed, that there’s someone else in his body, that the time he’s missing is another being taking control of him, and Sam doesn’t believe him.

it's really interesting to me how they wrote and how jarpad played sam's trauma from the cage through the soulless sam arc and the hallucifer arc. like when he's soulless he's very much like dissociated out of body hypersexual kind of trauma response with memory gaps and no real sense of self. when he gets his soul back he does sort of a 180. he's overwhelmed, he's hallucinating, having intense flashbacks, using self harm to ground himself, feeling hyposexual, he can't help but remember. I just find it interesting to see his initial trauma from the cage and how it changes over time, how it changes him

He was a psychopath, Sam. That's what they do all the time, is act. Act like they're normal, act like they're not balls-to-the-wall crazy.

op ur post about post-cage sam with stockholm syndrome has changed my life how do u see that manifesting in sam. how does he feel about it. ur wise words. i want to know what u think.
Anon, this is such a lovely ask, I don't know if you'll ever see this but I'm really sorry this took me more than three months to answer 🙈🙈
I think Sam, no matter what scenario, would and does feel deeply, deeply ashamed for any kind of attachement or connection to Lucifer.
Anyway I think there are many different ways to stockholm syndrome!Sam:
S6B: Sam feels like there's something missing. He doesn't know what it is, but there's a deep ache within him. It's not for Dean. God, he wishes it was Dean. And the shame of that tastes like bile: that Dean is not enough for Sam. That he wants something else. He thinks of Ruby and the demon blood. He thinks about Jess dying on the ceiling. Wanting things has never worked out well for him. He wishes he knew what he was yearning for - . Then Castiel breaks his wall and Sam remembers - bits and pieces, but it is enough. Oh, he thinks, of course it is you.
S7: When Sam starts hallucinating, Lucifer doesn't threaten him. He tries to make Sam believe he's still in the cage, but it's not to hurt Sam. He's understanding, almost apologetic. I know you miss Dean, but he's not here. You're with me. He's pointing out lucky escapes, making pointed remarks about the events of S6+7 (Purgatory, Eve, Leviathans...does all this not seem absurd to you?), the state of his and Dean's relationship (I don't know why you do this to yourself, Sam. Why do you imagine Dean treating you like this? The brother who trusted you to defeat me, who stood by you just as my brother did not...). Sam tries to dismiss everything he says, yet sometimes as he lies in bed at night after a long, tense, depressing day, Dean long since lulled to sleep with the help of whisky, he can't help but wish Hallucifer was right and none of this was real. And sometimes Lucifer hits a particular apt point and Sam spends days staring at Dean, looking for signs that can tell him if he's real or not. Sometimes - sometimes Lucifer feels much more real than Dean.
S11-13: There's something very compelling (to me) about Sam remembering exactly what Lucifer did to him in hell and hating him for it and yet being drawn to him. After all the time in the cage together he knows Lucifer - too well. He knows how he thinks, how he sees the world, what motivates him, how he feels about everything he does. Lucifer's mindset is as familiar to him as if it was his own. The certainty of his own experiences of suffering from Lucifer's hands vs the certainity of Lucifer's righteousness in making him suffer. And Lucifer knows exactly what Sam feels and of course wants to exploit it. Needless to say in this scenario Jack would explicitly be Lucifer's attempt to babytrap Sam...

Consider: Sam with a concussion and no one around to keep him from passing out and it probably killing him EXCEPT for his hallucination of Lucifer who won’t let him sleep. How does it feel to owe his life to the devil? To know that the only reason Lucifer wouldn’t let some common head injury kill him is because his death will always belong to Lucifer, as much as his life does? Sam lying there nauseous and in pain and his head feels like it’s going to explode and all he wants is to shut his eyes, but Lucifer won’t stop talking and Sam survives long enough for Dean to find him and save him.

hey in case you forgot (you forgot) Jared and Misha didn’t play the same Lucifer. So if you’re hating on one or the other for not portraying the character right, it’s because you’re remembering the wrong Pellegrino!Lucifer.
Kripke-Era Lucifer was the youngest of the archangels. Quiet, brooding, and prone to temper tantrums, he got kicked out of heaven because he hated humans and told Chuck to shove them up his ass, wrongly assuming that his father would love him more. He loves nature and wants to return earth to its natural beauty. He’s powerful and menacing. He speaks softly and has meaningful, intellectual conversations. Most importantly, he’s confident. In his mind, he was always going to win.
Post-Kripke era Lucifer is the oldest of the archangels, God’s first creation, born to help him fight the darkness and tasked with guarding the lock and key of her cage. He was Chuck’s most beloved, only locked away when his corrupted mind threatened all of creation. This Lucifer is cunning and hateful. His snarky comments hide his insecurities, because this Lucifer has lost. He lost his fight against humanity, he lost his father’s love, he even lost his own followers, the demons he tempted away. He lacks direction, and so spends his time in pettiness and sarcasm. He’s an emotionally unavailable little shit who doesn’t care about anything, not even nature.
Both Jared and Misha did a good job imitating Pellegrino…but Pellegrino did very different things in season 5 and season 11. He wasn’t humorous in season 5. He wasn’t powerful in season 11. The storyline demanded different things of Lucifer, and the character evolved as well. Most importantly, the loss of confidence after his defeat. Both interpretations are good imitations when seen in their original contexts. Of course Casifer looks weird when you compare him to the original Lucifer, and Samifer looks weird when you come back to him while remember the revamped, funny Lucifer.
Personally, I loved both.
