Hello! i'd like to request an Emile x F!Reader. Where they had both been in Alpha Company as kids but got separated right before everything went south. Him going off on one mission then her on another, but they reunite on reach when she takes the place of noble 6? But instead of them nothing being trapped on reach when it gets glassed they're able to escape with Cortana?
Oh I love this idea 🥺 I'll see what I can do for it!

Emile-A239 x Female! Reader
Synopsis: Emile had always known Carter, Jun, and Thom in Alpha Company. Yet back then he also knew a young girl who was a cadet like him. After graduation he thinks he'll never see her again. Turns out... that changes when NOBLE needs a new member.
Content Warnings: Romantic Pairing, Female Reader/Male Character pairing, Halo Reach AU where Emile and Noble 6! Reader do not die, Canon typical violence, Mass death/family death mention, Spoilers for Halo Reach, Jun is still alive he's just not around, Swearing.
Tumblr media
Emile had considered you a comrade when you were in Alpha Company. It was you, Emile, Carter, Jun, and Thom along with many others in training. Despite having such comrades, Emile still only ever craved vengeance for what happened to his previous family.
The Covenant killed them all.
Even though Emile only ever trained with revenge and murder on his mind when he was very young, you still came up to him with a friendly tone. You, like some many other Spartans, had your family wiped out by the alien threat. Despite such a blow it looked like you were able to keep your head up. You were quite the hopeful young girl.
You always greeted Emile with a smile. Even during harsh training you still tried to keep your team's spirit up. Call it childish but ever since the age of ten he managed to develop a crush on you. You two were a great team, only made better when Carter, Jun, and Thom aided you.
Unfortunately romantic relations, especially at such a young age, is frowned upon in the UNSC. This lead to Emile hiding such thoughts that managed to slip past his conditioning. He hid them right up until his graduation at age 13.
After his graduation you two were sent your separate ways. It hurt to know he may never see you again. You're sent to two different teams, two different missions...
Emile deep down feared you'd perish, but he had a goal to reach.
Despite such a fear he pushed away his irrational feelings of puppy love. He managed to make his way onto NOBLE team with Carter, Thom, and Jun. He even met Jorge and Kat. Emile still thought of you from time to time but he bet you were fulfilling your own goals.
You were probably keeping your team happy too... he almost envies it.
It isn't until after the Battle of Fumirole and loss of Thom that Emile sees a new member of NOBLE. It's hard for everyone to lose Thom, even Emile struggles but keeps looking forward to making the Covenant pay. Yet a new NOBLE 6 must be picked.
Emile was never expecting it to be you.
The only people who didn't recognize you were Jorge and Kat. Yet they could tell from how the other three acted that you were someone they could trust. Carter greeted you as a leader and a friend. Jun teased you and asked how your other missions went. Emile waved but could only watch in stunned silence as you asked Carter about Thom.
You had your own customized armor. You still held yourself well and didn't look like you cracked under pressure. You even managed to lighten the mood when things seemed tense. He could tell even Kat and Jorge noticed the way you improved the team already.
Despite such happy behavior, Emile knew you were still just as vulnerable as anyone else. You may encourage those around you... but deep down you have your own fears. You didn't like being alone... you hated the idea of losing soldiers.
Even after you met with your new team you gravitated towards Emile, he could tell the news of Thom settled in after the introductions.
"I'm so sorry about Thom..." You say softly, your tone quiet as you speak with Emile. "He made s great sacrifice out there."
"Soldiers die." Emile mutters to himself, he's seen it many times before. Spartans were often just meant to fulfill a purpose and that's it. "... but I'm glad you're here."
"How long has it been?" You ask, referring to your time at Alpha Company.
"Long time now. Not really that important. All that matters is the mission and stopping the threat, yeah?" Emile hums towards you, signaling that it was time to move.
"I guess you're right." You answer, waving towards Emile before following Carter.
"You'll do great out here... Noble 6." Emile manages to say before following his squad.
It felt just like old times. Fighting beside you reminded him of Alpha Company, when you were all just little kids. Little kids groomed for war... a bitter thought, but a necessary evil.
You weren't some little girl now, you're now a grown woman while he is a grown man. Both nearing your 30's and trained killing machines, he didn't realize how much he missed you until now. Even now you still seemed like yourself despite seeing the horrors of alien combat.
Although he was keen enough to notice the times where you appear more dulled than usual... that happiness from when you were little now seems more forced. He can't blame you. It must be taxing.
The whole thing is for him.
He will admit having you on the team made things easier. You got the job done, you're always careful, and you always look out for your team. You're a great soldier.
He tries to suffocate the feelings within him.
All he should think of is the mission. All he should think about is revenge for his family and all of humanity. That's all that matters. Everything else is second.
However, as Emile lost comrades left and right, he worried for you. Each time one of them was lost you seemed to dull. You still tried to encourage those around you, most of the time it was him even when he didn't need it, but he could tell you were growing hopeless. You didn't like the loss.
Your biggest fear was coming true.
By the time Carter sacrificed himself to take down the Scarab tank, Emile could tell your whole demeanor changed. You didn't bother even acting happy anymore. You looked broken down... yet he could see you were still determined to deliver the package to Keyes.
Emile promised himself he'd protect you until the package was secured. He tried not to think of you as he used the MAC gun to take down incoming Phantoms. You could handle the enemy down below, he'd handle the enemy in the sky. He didn't stop clearing the sky until he heard you on his through his helmet.
"Package secure."
"I've got your back."
"No, you're coming with me, Emile."
"We won't make it."
"Bullshit we won't."
It's then he sees you signal for Keyes to stop before rushing towards him. Emile slides out of the MAC gun but prepares to fight when Elite Zealots make their move in him. He thinks he'll die here for you and wishes you just left.
Instead he's met with the spray of gunfire and you pulling him along. He can tell you're determined as you make sure the Elite threat is dead before ushering him onto the Pelican with Keyes. For now, the sky is clear, clear enough for Pillar of Autumn to take off along with the Pelican.
It's then the Pelican heads for the Pillar of Autumn with you and Emile on it. The air is tense around you but Emile can tell you seem relieved. He's thankful you cared for him... even if it was against the mission.
Emile knows why you saved him. Even with the visor on he can tell. You went against orders for one reason and one reason alone.
You don't want to be alone...
- AFTERMATH -
Until you could be moved to somewhere else, Keyes had said you two were going to be put into Cryo sleep. It wasn't right away however, so you both had time to recollect yourselves. Emile admittedly couldn't stop staring when your helmet was off.
"Risky call to save me back there." Emile comments and you look over at him. He winces when he sees the look in your eyes.
"Was I supposed to just let you die like all the rest?" You say softly, sadness in your tone. "You're... we're lucky to even be alive right now to keep fighting."
"All thanks to you." Emile admits. "... thank you."
"It's no problem, it's what we're supposed to do."
Silence overcomes both of you as you contemplate the future. Supposedly Jun had gotten out okay so you both wonder if you'll see him again. Emile is the one to break the silence and your train of thought.
"You look really pretty without the helmet." Emile comments and you turn to him with a flustered yet confused expression.
"Emile...?"
"Look, can I be honest?" Emile asks, leaning back on the wall.
"Sure."
"I've had a thing for you since Alpha Company." Emile admits. "Thought I should at least get it out there now...."
"Poor timing." You sigh but smile at him. "Yet I guess I've felt similarly."
"Really now?" Emile asks.
"Yes, but of course, can't really express such a thing with war raging on." You sigh softly. "I'm... just happy I never lost you."
Emile shoves himself off the wall to walk closer to you. He grabs your attention and pats your back roughly. It's friendly and innocent, an attempt to keep your hopes up.
"Again, all thanks to you. I owe you for that."
"You don't owe me anything." You smile softly, kissing his cheek/visor softly. "I'm fine just knowing we both care for each other."
"Always have, always will." Emile promises. "Now, shouldn't we prepare for Cryo sleep as the Captain said?"
"Yes, Emile." You agree, putting your helmet back on. You then adjust your helmet's comms before speaking again. "This a secure channel?"
"Yes?" Emile answers, confused.
"I love you." You say softly and Emile feels his face heat.
"You too...." Emile replies back before reporting back to Keyes with you on the Pillar of Autumn.

Noble Team; House of Memories
I Ain’t Worried
Tumblr media
“I don’t know what you’ve been told, But time is running out, No need to take it slow.” Carter scolded the team as Jun continued to type away on the “Borrowed” UNSC laptop. How did they “Borrow” it? No idea. “I ain’t worried ‘bout it.” Jun chuckled as he continued to type away. “I’m at my best when I got something I’m wanting to steal.” Jun added on as he managed to break into the system to see what all “Blackmail” he could use on the commander. Stumbling across many images one would NOT like to see… especially if that person is one of you’re higher in command officers… “What.The.Actual.Fuck” Kat said as she continued to look at the images before looking away, as poor yn had to look away from the screen, feeling fairly uncomfortable at what’s currently displayed on the screen. It’s not that yn liked the commander much, it was just so uncomfortable. Jun just starts laughing like a maniac, on the verge of falling out of his chair as he tried gasping for air. Carter was in complete shock. Not knowing what to say or react.. placing his hands on top of his head like he was in pure distress.. Emile on the other hand was trying to get a look at what was exactly there, only able to get small glances with Jorge just standing there at complete lost for words.. Kat managing to come back to her senses to try erasing whatever file Jun broke into. “Wait wait wait” Jun manages to say after a while, stopping Kat from proceeding what she was doing, “What is it Jun?” Kat ask’s slightly annoyed at Jun. “We need to keep those photos.”, “Why would we? Please tell me you have a genuine reason on why you would go this low? If it’s pure bullshit, I’m gonna walk my happy trappy ass to ONI and request for a mission of sort..” yn said before starting towards the door. “Honestly I’m not sure. Maybe if there was something we really wanted to do or go he’ll have no choice but to say yes and not no.” Jun shrugged his shoulders before getting out a flash drive out and connecting it to the “Borrowed” UNSC laptop and saving the file to the drive and removing it before letting Kat continue on with erasing Jun’s trace of breaking into such file. Six ends up shaking his head as he also starts heading to the door to walk out right behind yn. “I honestly don’t know what to say or do anymore.” Yn says as six catches up to them. “Don’t blame you.. are you down to head to the gym and do max reps today?” Six asks as he sees both marines and ODST going past them. “I suppose we could, but do know I’m not caring your ass back to your room lieutenant, like last time.” Yn snickers they end up walking a bit faster than six to the general direction of the gym. “Wow you didn’t have to go that far, that’s not fair you know!”
Howdy folks, it’s b-312-mia who’s finally back after a short while. Writers block be real, and a pain too when it’s really bad on top of being really busy to even have any proper spare time to use for writing and really only used for sleep, at that even. I plan for this “Noble Team; House of Memories” to be a short mini series to see how I like to write little series and such. I ain’t gonna even try to give an estimate on when I’ll update this little mini series, hopefully soon, but then again it all plays a role on if I ain’t too busy nor too tired to. (Though I’m always tired, let’s just say, when I’m not blacking/passing out tired). This week doesn’t look to be too busy so we’ll see, until then, hope y’all enjoy this little short start to a mini series and continue to have a great day/night!

When The Music Stops
Tumblr media
PAIRING: Emile-A239 x F!Reader
SYNOPSIS: You were the only one who Emile would listen to in times like these. You didn't know he valued you as much as you did him.
WARNINGS: Angst in the beginning, mentions of blood, mentions of injury/fighting, eventual fluff, growing feelings, Emile is heavily sarcastic and comes off as blunt, no set timeline - just a drabble, etc.
*I do not give others permission to translate and/or re-publish my works on this or any other platform/into an A.I. program.*
Tumblr media
You rush into the room, the door sliding quickly to the side beside you as a rush of chilled air slaps your face. The facilities on Reach were always cold—freezing, actually. Like a damn meat locker. The Medical branch more so than anywhere else, but this time you could deal with it.
At the very least, it could steady out your heated annoyance.
“Emile!” You call, locking instantly onto the heavily armored man standing in his Mark V[B] at the center of the small room, hands clenched so hard you hear his gloves squeal as his knuckles crack inside of them. But the Spartan had already turned his helmeted face to you long before you opened that door, hearing your footsteps down the hall, the pattern of which he’d memorized months ago. That carved skeleton jeers in the overhead light, every little cut a funeral service for Covenant troops scored like paint across a canvas.
To you, it was a far too familiar sight, and you liked it far more when it was out of your Ward.
“Jesus,” you comment, slapping the pad on the wall to make the door shut behind you as you walk through with a serious face, waving your hands in anger. “What the hell happened out there?! I have half of the staff running around trying to gather enough supplies to stabilize a damn skull fracture, Emile!”
There’s blood on the ground of the examination room—your examination room. But it wasn’t Emile’s. It drips from his fingers and his MJOLNIR like a red river of dark deeds. The Spartan doesn’t even seem to mind it, and, you know, he doesn’t. If you had to guess, you would say he enjoyed it.
“Nothing,” that monotone voice slowly drips out, the SPARTAN-III nonchalantly shaking out his left wrist and fixing his stance, even though that casual rigidity remains. Animalistic calm. “Just cleaned up a few loose ends, Doc.”
“There are three ODSTs that went in for combat training today and are spending the night in here because of you,” you hiss, stalking up to the gigantic man and pointing a finger into his chest plate. He has to physically look down at you at this angle, and you think you’ll never get used to his unnatural height—both in and out of the MJOLNIR. “Carter warned you about another fight with non-Spartans, Emile—this can’t keep happening! I can’t keep trying to cover for you when you lose your temper!”
For once you’re shocked that the man in front of you lets you spew your words; it wasn’t often the hothead had nothing to say for himself, certainly about his own actions when his gung-ho attitude came out.
Your glare softens, tirade stalled for but a moment as the minutes lengthen after your scolding.
A silence falls, your own eyes blinking down at you from the reflection of the scarred visor, those etched marks that make up the image of death unwavering. Not a sliver of the Spartan’s visage is to be seen—it rarely is. Emile breathed slightly heavily, and his arms shook with leftover anger from not half-an-hour earlier when he’d sent his fist into those ODSTs. You can hear the scrape of his esophagus as clear as day, and if you strain your ears harder, you can image his fire-like pulse as well.
Where a deep disappointment had bred, now only concern takes its place.
You blink, raising a hand from your side hesitantly; pausing.
“Emile?” At the small touch on his elbow, the Spartan tenses, but you easily speak in a soft tone, dipping your voice. You can’t recall seeing Emile so…statue-still. “Hey,” you utter, brows creasing as the Spartan’s visor refuses to move an inch from staring you down. As if trying to calm himself by only your presence alone. “Hey, Big Guy. Okay, let’s…let’s take a breath, alright?”
You steady your own, but you know the rapid beat of your heart gives you away.
Emile grunts, turning his head from you to glare at the side wall; you know his jaw is clenched tight under his helmet. But he does as you ask, and you feel his chest bump your form as he inhales deeply.
It was a good thing you found him—of all the staff here, you seemed to be the only one he actually listened to. Even now, it brings a small feeling of pride with it, and you know it shouldn't.
It’s a quiet moment that once more settles, and you feel his tension seep out while you still hold onto his elbow, occasionally caressing your thumb up and down. You know the man best; you’re prideful because you’re the only medic on Reach equipped to handle his snark and aggression—the best at it. And the simple fact is that Emile only comes to you anyway.
“Good,” you nod softly. Taking a step back, you slowly tilt your head and frown at him.
He scoffs before he speaks, but it lacks any venom.
“Came on there pretty hard, Doc.” A nickname for you, only he’s allowed to use it. Emile grumbles and crosses his arms, feet spacing out. But his tone is…off. “Thought I’d be on my ass in a little bit.” “What happened?” You don’t beat around the bush, your eyes deathly serious. “You’re not acting right at all. You haven’t even bragged about how easy they were to bring down.”
“So I need to brag now, is that it?”
Glaring, you set your jaw and level out with him. “Show me your hands, A-239.”
“Woah,” Emile drags out the word, chuckling as you grapple for his hand, moving his head to the side as if studying an ant and saying sarcastically. “Yes, Ma’am.”
Peeling back the armor plating and the thick undersuit, you’re left with slightly inflamed knuckles. With the enhancements of the Spartan's physical forms, even so for the IIIs, these would heal fairly quickly—hours at most. But the sight still rang off alarm bells.
How hard had he been punching those ODSTs to leave a mark on himself? Through armor and muscle?
“Emile,” you urge, firm attention staying on the swelling.
You can feel his eyes on you—digging and heavy. But on this, you would not relent. In your time together, you’d grown fond of him and his horrible attitude. He was off putting, sure, and rough: a bit bad for civilian relations, of course; yet you’d had the privilege to know him as others usually didn’t.
Emile was bluntly honest, and with you…he listened. That was a trust far earned and it had taken months to even get a break in him.
The giant released a low sigh and with a hand motion that equaled ‘fine,’ he shook his head and pushed out through a board tone. “...They were talking ‘bout you. Didn’t like their tones.” A finger touches the back of your skull, brushing across it briefly and disappearing as if never there. You fight back a gasp. “‘Specially when they thought it was smart to say it when I was right there.”
You pause at that, still holding his warm hand as his fingers twitch in your grasp—tiny things compared to the calluses and bulk of muscle. It’s like your heart stops, a foreign heat making the room's chill completely halt.
You stare at his knuckles and feel your eyes blink quickly. Inside of your chest, your heart completely skips beats.
“Took ‘em to the ring,” he says like he’s reading a report. “Threw ‘em down. They lost and I won, and I made them think twice when they’re talking about my favorite Medic like that.” His helmet shifts your way. “You think I’d let them get away with that, Doc?”
“I…” you stutter, for once in your life, lost for words. Emile chuckles to himself, tilting his head mockingly.
“Now isn’t that nice.”
Your face burns even more as the man’s hand shifts out of your hold, tapping your chin up with a finger. His helmet leans into you.
“Thought I’d stop by and have my girl check up on me before someone else managed to get in my way. You didn’t disappoint. Never do.” You’re speechless, heart rapidly pounding and throat bobbing with a swallow. You know he sees it because he chuckles again and his head moves up and down in a sweep of your body.
Emile hums, squeezing your flesh with his thumb and forefinger before letting his hand drop and pulling on his glove.
“You hear anything going ‘round about you, you just let me know, yeah?” There’s a serious edge to that sentence. “Let me take care of it.”
All you do is nod dumbly a blank moment later and feel your face go malleable. You don’t even know how to respond to that—you shouldn’t be encouraging physical fights just because you thought it was an…archaically sweet, if not inherently violent, sentiment.
But was Emile anything but? You knew what you were getting into.
“Good.” Emile moves his head back and stares for a moment longer, his chest rising and falling in a silent sigh of breath, before, soldier-like once more, he walks forward and exits the room with a whoosh of recycled air.
“Be seeing you, Doc.”
You hear the door slap shut and still gape at where he once stood in front of you, fire under your skin and a deep pull in your heart as you stutter under your breath. Clearing your throat minutes later, you blink, flatten out your clothes, and quickly exit into the hallway—hearing every connection of your feet to the floor.
There was something so very wrong about this that made you want to see how it might end. Even if it resulted in your blood-thirsty Spartan standing in your examination room once more, knuckles swollen and his body looming above yours like a silent, skeletal sentinel; some brutish dog ready to tear flesh at a moment's notice.
If only to feel his bare skin again, and the weight of his words on your chest.
"Shit," you breathe, grasping at the bridge of your nose as nurses rush past you. All of your thoughts are about Emile, and you have to internally wonder when that had started happening. "...This isn't good."

You know that Choose Your Own Spartan Adventure fic with Noble Team I've been threatening to write talking about for a while? No, well, not too surprising because it's been a while and I have nothing to show for it.
Technically, I actually do have most of the first chapter done as well as portions of the chapters for each Noble Team member. I should mention they're done in Word. You know, the program I can't use anymore so essentially they're here but are inaccessible to me now? I'm not stressed about that or anything, though! (╯‵□′)╯︵┻━┻
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Anyway. Guess who just got an idea for another Choose Your Own... type story for Noble Team?
Tumblr media
Yeah, maybe I should do that instead.
*whispers* Anyway, what it was about was...
Tumblr media
NEVER MIND, GEESH.

Emile A239 x fem!Reader part two
Tumblr media
Portrait by Joshua Ezzell
Part one Masterlist
Summary: After meeting up with the rest of Team Noble, you're set out on your first mission. Things don't go as planned and you end up arguing with Emile about your behavior. Just why does he have to hold your face like this and stand so damn close you can barely breathe?
Warnings: war, mention of weapons, mention of death, angst, sarcasm, overall harmless, with some hints of early stage smut
Word count: 4503
Tumblr media
AN: I posted the second chapter a couple of days ago already, but I was not satisfied how it turned out. So I wrote many parts new and I promise you. You will fall in love with Emile now! He is the most precious angry fluffball ever.
Tumblr media
Chapter two: Be a good girl, and I'll take my helmet off for you
15 minutes have already passed, since we started in New Alexandria. We left the heavy rain clouds in the city, and I can finally see a few sunrays again. Two weeks I haven’t seen the sun anymore. The feeling that I’ll never see the sun anymore, grew bigger, minute by minute as I waited in my apartment for pick up.
But being now with Noble Team, makes me believe that everything will be fine. Carter explained me the situation, we are meeting rest of the Noble Team at a safe zone camp. 80 click souths from my home city. Once we arrived, we will be heading 20 click west to an old military facility for pick up of an ONI squad. With this squad we will leave fly all the way to Reach and head towards Quezon. West of New Alexandria, behind the ocean. Once we arrived, Noble Team will drop me off and I will get escorted by a UNSC special forces squad to earth.
Then I will just wait for the war to be over before I can return home? Somehow this doesn’t go well with me. I trained years of my life; I have been in different wars myself already. Against Rebels, Terrorists and others. So why am I not allowed to fight now. Its my home as well. I should fight with my brothers and sisters.
“We are landing in 2 minutes.” Says a pilot over the radio, what rips me out of my thoughts. And as we are descending, I can see how the sun slowly sets itself behind the thick clouds and mountains. I’m looking at Carter, who gives me a nod to get ready. Emile on the other side had said nothing. Not a single word, for the 15 minutest as we are in the sky. He just sat at the edge of the helicopter, scanning the area with a heavy machine gun. He seems more professional than I thought in the first place. Maybe I got him all wrong.
The helicopter eventually landed, and I followed Carter into a little tent. Four Spartans were looking directly at me as I entered. Spartans can be really scaring sometimes…
“Noble Team, this is Miss l/n. Ma’am, meet Kat, noble two.” A woman in light blue Armor nods at me. I try my best to nod with a serious face back. Trying to hide my nervosity. As Carter continues: “Jun, Jorge, Noble three and Noble five. And Lieutenant Sixx, obviously he got the callsign Noble six.” He pointed at everyone, while walking towards a simple build contact station. I looked at each of them, “It’s an honour to meet you. You can call me y/n. I don’t really like those formalities.” It sounded a little more desperate then I hoped it would, but maybe it helps me to stay calm.
Kat turned to me and gave me a light smile: “I’ve read your file Ma’am. You are more tough than you look. No need to feel intimidated by us. We don’t bite. Well, almost all of us don’t.” With that, she lifted her head and looked behind me. “You should just stay a little alert around our Grim Reaper.” She chuckled and turned her attention toward the contact station. A little confused I looked behind, seeing Emile standing at the tent entrance. Of course, he bites. I’m not even surprised; he looks like he could and probably would at one point. Quickly I turn my attention to the rest of the squad. Jorge was once a commander of the squad I served with. Against Insurrectionists, here on Reach. “Sir, it’s good to see a familiar face.” I said to him. He smiled softly, as he came a little closer to me. With his heavy hand on my shoulder he said: “Y/n, I’m glad to see you are in one piece. Your father was quite worried as he heard about the covenant. We will bring you to safety as soon as possible.” I smiled back. “Yes, thanks for that, I guess. Even though, I should fight for my home, not run away from it.” With my smile fading into a face of self-disappointment, he just let out a laugh. “I didn’t expect anything less from you. You will get a chance. But your father gives and order, and we all, just as you, are supposed to follow it.”
He's right. “But I hope I can at least kick some ass before leaving Reach.” I replied.
“Alright, attention Team.” Carter interrupts our little, small talk. And everybody pays close attention to the contact station. A hologram map shows up. He points at an ONI facility; “20 clicks west, we will meet a backup squad and secure the facility. Taking down all covenant and bring the facility back online.” He picks up a small P.a.d. from the table and hands to me. “Make sure to stay in contact at all times ma’am.” A quick nod from me as response as I fix the p.a.d. on my wrist.
Kat looks at me, “She needs some weapons, or do you want any of us to play babysitter?” She clearly won’t take the job, that’s the tone of her voice saying. Carter points with his thumbs at a weapon chest next to the station. “Take what you are most comfortable with.” He says to me. I response with another nod. As he continues: “Anyway else, I want that one of you stay full time with her. She is a highly important freight. We can’t take any chances.” He looks at each of the Noble Team members. I hope he picks Jorge. He’s the only one I know and to be honest, he’s the only next to Carter who I’d trust.
But he had other plans. “Emile, make sure she doesn’t get a single scratch. Team, we’re leaving in 10 minutes. Get ready.” He just dismisses us and is about to leave the tent. When Emile finally says something: “What? Sir with all due respect, you gotta be kidding!” He sounds angry.
Kat comes next to Emile: “Sir, I must agree with Emile, for the first time ever. I’m sure that Six or Jorge would be the better candidate for the job.” She really argues with the commander. I’m curious if she tries to protect Emile, or me? But it seems that Carter won’t budge. “My decision is made. No discussion. I need your skillset to make sure she will arrive in Quezon alive.” He says with a stern look, then he looks at me: “Ma’am. Take the weapons of your choice, vest, night vision and get ready to move.” With his final words, he leaves. And so do the others one by one. Kat looks one time more at me, “Good luck.” She smiles at me with a concerned face and leaves. While Jorge comes past me, he pats me on the shoulder, before leaving the tent as well. Now it’s only Emile and me. This is going to be great. Really great. I let out a sigh as I look at him. Then, there it is again. That feeling. He looks at me, and I can feel how he tries to kill me with his piercing stare. I turn around, trying to ignore his death threat and walk towards the weapon chest, short after I turned away, Emile left the tent as well. I survived. For now.
Now let’s pick some toys. There are not many weapons in, but I quickly made my decision. I take a MK50 Sidekick, a great sidearm that's ideal for finishing weakened enemies off. As I trained for the Airforce, I worked mainly as sniper and medic, so I’ll chose the S7 Sniper. Light and compact. The exact model I trained with, from the beginning of my time in the UNSC Airforce.
Even though I was categorized as too small for the UNSC to join in the first place, it gave me many opportunities to take down enemies in close range, while I could move faster around them and take them down with a combat knife. So of course, I’ll be taking a M1 combat knife, as I used back in the fights. A bullet proof vest and a night vision device. Ready dressed and packed, I make my way out of the tent. As I turn the corner to meet rest of the team at the landing zone, my soul leaves at the second I get yelled at, by a certain skull visor. “What the hell? You are dum?!” Emile yells at me from behind as I get shocked to the core and jump around, I see how he stomps towards me. That’s it. I’m going to die. What have I done to deserve that. I’m just praying to God, while he stops right in front of me, looking down on me, as if I’m a little child. Then he growls: “A sniper rifle? Do I look like I wanna sit in a corner drinking tea while the others dance with the covenant scum? Go pick Jun if you’re too scared to face the enemy directly, but I’m not taking care of you then!” He stomps past me.
Hold up. That’s why he is mad? God, he is the little child. I definitely will have a hard time handling him, but I’m not going to change my weapon. It will come in handy, and I still have my sidekick gun. I shake my head as if I try to shake his anger off me. Then I make my last steps to the landing zone. Standing next to Emile, I look up at him with a serious face: “Just for your knowledge, with a sniper rifle that size, I can easily take down any enemy who will come in closer range. Also I got a MK50 sidekick. Captain Obvious. In the end it’s going to be me, who has to make sure you don’t get a scratch. And probably will end up babysitting you then. So you better be more kind. Sir.” Realizing what I just said, I can hear the others giggle. The only ones clearly not laughing is me. Why do I have to push my limits always. He’s so going to abandon me in a fight. Or even push me off a cliff, should we come across one. I want to facepalm myself. But - Hold up! He is laughing himself. What the??
I look now even more shocked towards him, he is serious laughing. He turns his head to me, “You think I need back up from a tiny dwarf like you? Not even your wildest dream.” Is he insulting me now? Or joking? I’m confused! To my luck, I can hear Carter approaching from behind, with an amused voice he pats me on the shoulder: “I told you, you two will get along just fine.”
With the team in a good mood, we split up in two groups and jump on the helicopters. Kat, Jorge and Carter are in the other helicopter, while Emile and Noble Six sit on the opposite side of Jun and me. Jun, pushes me light at the shoulder: “I give you some advice.” He says while pointing at Emile. “Make as many jokes as you want to, but don’t be surprised if he’s coming after you. You can always hide behind Carter or Six. But don’t come running at me, I don’t want to die myself.” He says while laughing a little more. I nod with a awkward terrified smile at him. Does he want to tell me that he fears Emile?
Should I take his advice serious? Either way I say dumb shit to Emile, or even worse shit, that makes him angry. I will probably make him kill me. My face drops with the realisation that my life hangs by a threat. As Emile tilts his head light to the side and looks at me: “As long as I got orders to make sure you don’t loose a leg, I won’t rip off your head as well.” He says with a cool voice. Turning away once again.
Wow, how charming. I think ironically. But yeah, actually, his voice, is really charming. I hits me like a thunderstrike. Holy no! Pull yourself together girl! We are not falling for a Spartan! No No No NO! Instantly I turn my face away from the others, trying to hide my blushing cheeks. This is seriously no time to catch feelings. Also, he is so rude and reckless. And childish. And has probably many issues. No no. We don’t do love stuff here. We are professionals. So be one professional soldier. God damn. While discussing with myself, I just pray that this flight is over soon, so I can focus on the covenant instead of my stupid thoughts.
As the helicopter is turning around the mountain, we get a call over radio: “This is Carter. We get no communication with ONI. The plan changed. Jun, you stay in the helo, get up at that hill, right heading. Find a clear vision over the facility. Emile and Six, clear the left entrance area. Y/n, according to your record, you are a medic, means you go with the two and get ready for first aid, if you find any injured. All clear?” Carter gives straight instructions. Jun looks at Emile and Six, both are nodding in response, then they turn to me and I gave a quick nod as well. Jun answers over the radio quickly: “Affirmative, Sir.” With that said, we are starting to descend. I know what will come. War. But against the covenant. I never fought against any aliens before. Slowly my guts starting to turn. Then Jun pushes me once again lightly at the shoulder, I turn to him and he just gives me a thumbs up. It’s not much, but it calms me down a little, I give him a thumbs up back.
The helicopter touches the ground, and we hop off. Jun gives me one more thumb up as the helicopter rises again. Now it’s time to focus. So far, I don’t see any civilians, soldiers and no covenant. The sun has almost set completely. Taking a deep breath, I grip my rifle tight and follow Emile and Six. They give calls each other on where to walk, that the area is clear and where to move. I just follow Emile. Close, but so that he still can move free. We are approaching the left entrance of the ONI facility, and the bad feeling inside me grows bigger. I try to get a little closer to Emile and whisper to him: “Hey, Emile. I have a bad feeling. This is smelly.”, he stops in his tracks and turns his head light. “So what? You scared because your belly is grumbling? There’s no turning back now. Shut up and keep moving.” He harshly cuts me off and continues walking again. I let out an annoyed sigh and follow him once more, this time, I keep more distance. It’s a trap! I can feel it, don’t they? When the two Spartans reached the entrance gate, I walked a little bit further away, and hide behind a huge rock. It’s like a countdown ticking inside of me. Every second it could go down. I kneel behind the rock and set up my rifle, so I can assist the two when they will get surprised. And they will get surprised.
In the exact moment Six get ready to open the gate, the gate explodes and a bunch of Covenant storming out of the building. “Get to cover tiny!” Emile yells. He didn’t even realise that I wasn’t there anymore. “No shit, Sherlock. And who are you calling tiny here.” Is what I whisper to myself, while shooting one by one of the covenants. They are obviously too many to handle, even for two Spartans. Emile doesn’t think so: “What that’s all you got? Bring it on!” He yells while throwing them around like a freaking piñata. “Who’s next! Let’s dance!” He yells and laughs even more, while jumping on three covenants, blasting them to bits. Yeah, he’s nuts - That’s for sure. Six is skilled himself. Not a single enemy can get close enough to him, that he must draw a knife. While Emile on the other hand seems to have a lot of fun using his Kukri knife instead of his shotgun. And it doesn’t take too long and not a single covenant is standing anymore.
As they are about to move into the building, Emile calls over the radio: “You made it to a hiding spot in time?” I answered without even thinking “Sir, I was in a hiding spot already. As I told you, it’s smelly.” I responded. I should have just said yes and we would had no problem. But telling Emile, that I disobeyed an order, was not the smartest idea, because he was clearly not happy about that: “What’d you mean? You just decided to take a stroll around the base or what? Who gave you green lights for running off? Don’t fucking do that ever again! Now stay where you are until we call the building clear!”
After around 10 minutes, he calls over the radio: “This is Noble four. Left entrance clear. We have many soldiers on the ground. Get in here tiny, time to work.” Is all he says. Man, now I’m mad. “He can’t even say my name. And what does he mean, - time to work – I was literally holding his god damn back free, so he can have his fun in the crowd. “Arrogant ass.” I mutter to myself as I’m approaching the building. Entering, I see many soldiers, bad injured. “Ah hell.” I whispered while checking if any are still alive. These soldiers are clearly dead.
Emile was nowhere to be seen. Six came from across the hallway to me. I just shook my head. He let out a sigh and said “Good job. Out there.” He gave me a nod of appreciation. “Thanks Lieutenant. I’m sorry for the soldiers” I sighed and asked “That was the squad we were supposed to meet?” He looked at me and pointed to a door, signing me to follow. “You are right, it was them. It’s now just us. We must get the station online and then bring you to Quezon. With or without ONI.” He explained while walking ahead. Suddenly he stopped, so that I almost bumped into him. I stood behind him, a little confused. “Sir?” I asked quietly. He turned around. “You are a good sniper. For your size, surprisingly. Your senses are excellent as well. Emile said you had a bad feeling and decided to not follow the orders and hid. That’s good. But also, bad. Next time, give clear concerns to the commander. You can’t decide by yourself what to do. Other who are supposed to protect you, will get the consequences.” As he finished, he turned away and continued walking. I felt bad, he was right, but I had to make the decision. To not put the team in danger as they would have focused on protecting me.
“Sir, it won’t happen again.” I said while walking behind him like a stray dog. He chuckled “Good. And good luck with handling Emile. He’s mad.” As he said that, I was not even surprised. I let out a sigh, “Yeah, I deserve that, I guess.” We stopped in front of a big door. Six gave me a slight nudge on the shoulder and entered the room, right away, Emile came out of it. He packed me by the arm and pulled me further along the hallway. He’s probably going to yell at me again. Mentally preparing myself for what will come, he stopped and let go of my arm as we were close to an exit door. Then he turned towards me and pushed a finger against my forehead. “Listen here doll, When I tell you what to do, you shut up and do it. You can’t just leave the spot without telling anyone! Are we clear?” He wasn’t really yelling. Just a little louder, but his finger really hurts on my forehead. I pushed his hand out of my face and took a deep breath. “Yes sir. Won’t happen again.” I said with a serious look on my face to him. He wasn’t done. “Have you an idea how much trouble I get because of that!” Now he started yelling as he came one step closer. I couldn’t even said something, he came one more step closer and continued. “Not only from Carter. If your father finds out I can’t even handle a dwarf like you, I can forget staying in Noble Team.” He came another step closer. As he leaned down, his visor was almost touching my nose. But I didn’t budge. “Tell me Emile” I looked at his skull visor. “Do I look into your eyes right now? Or do I have to look more down or up?” I caught him completely off guard. He spun back and instead of saying anything, he turned on his heels and walked towards the exit door.
“That’s it?” I asked whispering but couldn’t hold back. “Emile.” I called him, he stopped and turned around. “What?” He was so pissed. Good. My face turned into an art of hell as I bit my lower lip to not laugh out loud. Another deep breath: “My belly grumbling, huh? Just admit it, I was right, and you were wrong.” Biting my lip even harder to not laugh out loud I waited for my end. But he just stood there. Saying nothing. Looking in my direction. I messed up, but it was totally worth it. It’s too much fun to piss him off. Until he started stomping towards me. “Oh shit!” I whispered. Should I run away? Too late, he was already right in front of me again. Now pushing me by my shoulders against the wall behind me. He almost threw me at that wall. Hands on my shoulder, his visor right in front of me again and his feet left and right next to mine, he was cornering me completely against that wall.
His voice, deep and filled with flammable anger “Do you wanna die?” He asked slowly. I shook my head light. “Negative, sir.” Only a whisper was what I was able to bring out. He took a breath as if he wanted to say something. But he didn’t. He was just standing there. Looking down on me, holding my shoulders and pressing them against the wall. I looked at him confused. Should I say something? Then he let go of my shoulder, cupping my face with one hand, lifting it even closer to him. With the other hand he pointed to his visor. “I you look there; you look me in the eyes.” I lost my breath at his words. His voice was now calm and soft. He was a completely different person. Nobody said anything anymore. We just looked at each other, standing so close, I swear he could hear my heartbeat.
Suddenly, out of nowhere Jun yelled: “Hey, Emile, get up to the power transmitter and check if the wires are cut! Oh, ah, Okey. Didn’t wanted interrupted. My bad.” He yelled from across the hallway. As he saw what must have looked as we were making out, Jun just left as quickly as he came around. Emile huffed and let go of me. He headed towards the exit. “You stay put. Otherwise...” He scolded. As he walked away. I followed him, as we left the building and climbed the fire stairs to the roof. I got curious. “Otherwise, what?” I asked dumb struck. He stopped in the middle of the stairs and turned around once more. “Otherwise, I’ll bite your head off. Now shut up.” He scolded once again.
Deciding to not bother him any further. I zipped my mouth with my finger and followed him further upstairs. Reaching the transmitter, it was clear that all cables were intact. He gave a radio call to Jun, saying that the cables are fine. I stood at the transmitter and looked at him. Something is weird about him. He’s rude, childish and has immense anger issues. But I can’t shake this feeling off, that I feel like starting to fall for him. How can I fall for someone I just met an hour ago. And who I haven’t even seen the face of.
He’s noble team. They don’t have a long lifespan anyway. And I’m going to earth. So, I will probably never see him again after we parted ways. Makes me a little sad. As I continue starting at him, with every emotion written on my face, I suddenly realised he’s looking back at me. Ah no, he’s going to be mad again. I smiled at him as if tried to convince him that I’m not hiding any drugs, before turning around and looking at the lake next to the facility. He was not saying anything. When I looked back at him, he is still looking at me. I narrowed my eyebrows: “Did you spaced out Emile?” I asked him. He stomped towards me, I was about to move back, but I decided to stand my ground. Would he come that close again? Is he actually starving for physical contact. The life of a Spartan can be lonely. He stopped right in front of me. Only a few inches were in between us. He took a deep breath and asked. “Why would you want to see my eyes?” – “Huh?” with my answer it was clear that I did not expected that. Emile turned away and shook his head. “Never mind.” He said and walked to the stairs.
“Wait.” I run at him and grab him by his hand. Regretting my move, as he looked down at his hand, I let go immediately. “I- am. I just try to understand you. And it’s easier for me when I can look into your eyes.” I smiled shyly and looked away. I was expecting he’d make a joke about me, but instead, he cupped my face with both hands this time, making me to look up at him. “If you be a good little girl and do as I say. I maybe take my helmet off.” Then he let go of me, and walked downstairs laughing his ass off. He made a joke about me.
“What was that?” I asked myself and rushed after him, before I get another scolding. Wait, was he actually flirting with me? With this thought I stopped in front of the door to the building.
“y/n. Station is online. Come to the main entrance.” Carters call over the radio ripped me out of my thoughts. I must stop thinking about Emile. He is just a Spartan. Doing his job. That’s it.

APRIL 2552
THE AIR WAS DENSE, A DENSENESS THAT COULD STIFLE BREATHS JUST AS QUICKLY AS A ROPE. There wasn’t a single gust of wind that passed by and no chilling breeze that danced around the skin leaving a line of stood hairs in its wake. Not even a drop of rain from the clouds above that circled the colony. The same ones that dawned a slick grey colour making the atmosphere scrape the surface of nightfall, three hours before the moon would be present on the horizon.
Prior to those three hours stood four bone-chilling ones. That was the length of time that Carter waited in the vicinity of the vacant hospital, one that brought too little a number of soldiers that couldn’t even take up more than four spaces on a single hand. But the nurses wasted no time guiding the three soldiers into empty rooms and taking them into intensive care. He would glance pensively now and then when he’d catch the scent of the nurse’s hair as she moved efficiently between rooms, beads of sweat forming on her skin as she worked.
He exhaled.
Quite the successful mission they landed. One that was still successful even at the cost of his team being indisposed. Along with the casualties that racked up in blood piles like books on a shelf. A successful mission, that left one of his soldiers blown to smithereens trying to play the lone hero and another one left with one functioning arm. He stood there with his back against the wall with dirt and grime taking refuge on his face, covering the shame that took four hours to creep around his eyes as he waited for the nurse’s call, announcing that Kat would be alright.
It started before it even ended. Kat had fallen unconscious before even making it to you, dangling from Carter’s arms as the sorrow encompassed his sharp features, causing him to turn away from you. He didn’t need to look at you to know the mournful look that skimmed around your pupils, nor did he need to see you to feel the heat of your torment set his skin ablaze. It wasn’t just his wish that she’d be alright. But it was also yours. And it became your only wish once Kat had bid you farewell all those months ago, swearing she’d never return to you. How you prayed you had never even known her from the moment you broke her heart.
And how surprising it was to see the ruggedness of her tanned skin, flushed with fresh cuts that rained blood like large wounds. The same cuts that were reaching out to you and allowing you to grace your nimble fingers over the deep gash that displayed the crevices of her gums and teeth. Taking her cheeks in your hands as your thumb lightly brushed against her bottom lip, wiping the rogue dye from the corners of her mouth. You hadn’t even processed the fact that her body was devoid of its right arm. Only breaking contact with her face when the other nurses crowded around her, whisking her away from both you and Carter in time to perform emergency surgery.
That was the last he’d seen of you. Other than worrying about Kat’s well-being, he was concerned about your response. You hadn’t acted the way Kat described you would if the chance to see you again ever presented itself. She talked of you, but vaguely and it seemed as though Kat was holding onto you more than you were holding onto her.
“Catherine’s awake.” He heard a distant call from down the hall. Shaking him out of his thoughts and back into the present. A sudden movement of his head opened his view to the shorter nurse that stood before him. You stood there draped in dark blue garments, your hair flowing free from its restraints with your darkened coils that domed around your head. Warm and inviting eyes that resembled the colour of oak wood and dark brown skin that shined like the glossy appearance over your eyes.
He could feel his throat clog up once he realized that you weren’t angry. You couldn’t possibly have been after what you just saw. Still, he came to you with a “Y/N,” in a hushed tone.
And if there was one thing Carter was, it was a formal man, and you could only respond to that with the same formality, “Commander, you’ll be happy to know that Catherine’s awake.”
His eyes widened at the swiftness in your words. “How is she?” He asked abruptly, picking himself up to stand tall next to you.
“You can go in and check for yourself. She should be in room 118.” You said tilting your head in the direction of the room. He stared down the hall for a few moments before turning to you again. Bowing his head before moving in his clunky boots that sent the sound of clanking metal throughout the hospital’s interior. You watched him as the blue from his armour became blurrier with every step he took.
Your thumb making its way to your decorated ring finger, a single band from a pair circling it. While the other band in the pair circled a chain that remained around Kat’s neck since she had gotten it on that faithful day.
━━━━━━━━━━━・❪ ❁ ❫ ・━━━━━━━━━━━
“Kat, where are you taking me?” You said, small sprouts of laughter present in your voice as you treaded up the slanted hill. Grass tickled your foot bottom while your hands were occupied by the warmth of Kat’s, who had been dragging you behind her for the last few minutes. Once time passed for too long and her answer never came, you pulled your hand from her grasp.
She immediately looked back at you, hair from her ponytail nearly slapping her in the face as she saw a spill of frustration overtake your expression. With an exasperated sigh, she moved down just a bit so that your chest was no more than five inches away from hers. “It’s a surprise, Y/N.” Kat responded with an almost dead tone, which only made you laugh even more.
Furrowing your brows and twisting your face as you jokingly mocked, “Ooh, so serious.”
“You’re such a pain in the ass sometimes.”
She roll of her eyes, turning on her heel to continue moving up the hill. Your hands reached out to take hold of her shoulder, ceasing any further movements from her as her head swung around again to feast her eyes on the beauty of your face. “Maybe if you told me what this was all about, I’d leave you to be focused.” Another roll of her eyes, “Or maybe if you gave me a kiss, I’d be more patient.”
Kat’s eyes danced to a playful tune, “It’s affection you’re after?” she lowered down once again, intertwining her fingers with yours.
A slight nod of your head caused her to lean down, her hands wrapping around your waist. Your hands make a path to her nape, curling your fingers to pull her closer to your face, only a few centimeters away. "I always want your attention."
She chuckles, “Is that right?” The feeling of heat emitting from her mouth and eyes steady on yours was enough to turn your bones to mush had she not been holding your hands.
“You’re greedy." she whispered, raspy words filling your ears.
“I don’t care." You confessed almost immediately, attempting to hide the lust building up in your voice. A cold chill ran down your skin, goosebumps covering your arms as her voice lingered in your head. Her eyes never left yours, not even for a second as you moved your gaze to her lips.
"My eyes are up here, Y/N." Kat moved one of her hands to your face, placing her forefinger under your head and thumb under your bottom lip, pinching your chin gently as she tilted your head to look up at her again.
Your movement became stagnant, eyes widening just for a moment. A wide smile was plastered on Kat’s face as she drew closer to you, eyes snapping shut as her rough lips brushed against yours, "Didn't think you could be so bold and shy at the same time."
"Kat," she felt the small whine come from between your lips.
"What is it, pretty girl?" was torture to your being. To have her so close that the rhythm of your breathing altered, matching each inhale with every exhale, that you found yourself tugging at the nape of her neck attempting to close the gap between you both. It was so far that her lips didn't come any closer than where you were right now. What a tease she was, to be killing you with nothing more than a simple nip of your bottom lip from her teeth.
“Tell me again what you want.” She almost sounded sincere, as if she wasn't reveling in your desperation, basking in the glory of having you so nervous that you couldn't even bear to look at her anymore, that you were trying with every ounce of strength you had to connect them in the only way you could at the moment. "I asked you a question, it's not polite to ignore."
"Kat… please, just kiss me already."
Your command sent Kat into a euphoric state. A low chuckle left her before she granted your request. Her lips moved in to press against yours. Both hands move back down to your waist, pulling your body into hers as your grip around her neck tightened. Her tongue swiped along your bottom lip, hoping to move past them to deepen the connection.
You hadn't caught the sign at first and especially didn't catch it when you sensed her fingers lightly tapping the skin along your waist, moving down to your hips. Giving them a light squeeze which caused you to jump. Your mouth widened against hers giving her the access she needed to slide her tongue into your mouth. Your tongues slid against each other and with every movement, it drew them closer and closer. Much like your breathing, your mouths moved rhythmically, going hand in hand as if your lips were only meant for each other. And in your minds, they were.
There was never another person that could compare to you, and neither would there ever be a better Kat.
She moved back from your lips, resting her forehead on top of yours, both of your eyes closed, "Ready to go again?” She breathed out, a smile present in her last two words.
Your breathing was rugged, attempting to return to normal as you held her for support. “Give me a second will you? I only asked for you to tell me where we were going, not to devour the oxygen out of my lungs.” You commented, gasping for air as your knees hit the grass, prickling the soft exterior of your skin as you move to position yourself better. Within arm’s length, you are able to take the chance to look around what circles both of your bodies. Flowers. But not just any, a field of them, tulips that have just begun to stretch up to the top of the hill. Tulips that bare colours of bright yellows and vibrant reds, which look almost orange in the sunset.
Kat, who watched as you slowly became enthralled with the bed of tulips, understood that having you trail up any further wouldn’t even be possible. She reaches to the side of her pocket, placing the contents of the item in the fist of her hand before she places herself next to you. Staring straight at you with the light in your face and her lips can’t help but turn up.
“Running up a hill shouldn’t be a problem considering you run around the hospital every day.” Kat jokes, placing a hand on top of yours as your gaze moves up quietly to meet her eyes.
“This is voluntary.”
“And we should be so lucky that it is because had this been for work you would have failed.”
“Had this been for work, you wouldn’t even see me lagging behind to know that I’ve failed.”
You both laugh instinctively, more for comfort rather than finding the comment humorous. The sound of sweet laughter slips from the moment briskly, leaving you both with the creeping of quietness. Your eyes remained fixed on Kat’s while hers stayed still on yours.
You were in for a ride if you’d let her take you up to that hill. You’d done your best, but even your best wasn’t good enough- not when Kat was so intellectually attuned to your emotions. Surely, she knew what all your whiny complaints meant. It must have made her even more nervous about what she was about to tell you. Though the possibility of rejection was high, Kat wasn’t to be astonished by the potential of your next answer.
“I know how this might look,” She starts, a little shaky in her voice as she pushes to continue, “But it’s not what you think it is.”
Of course, it isn’t. She only had been trying to plan out this cute date, nothing too serious that would deter your answer. Or worse- scare you off. Had she assumed you already decided to reject her before she even got her words out?
In the calmest voice she can muster, she says, “They’ve placed me on the Noble Team.”
Suddenly you feel the beating of your heart and the blood that passes through the stream of veins and arteries and organs in your body halt. This was much worse than you imagined. This was death placing its skeletal fingers on a scythe as they sliced your limbs from the base of your body, watching the blood spill from the open wounds. Watching as you crawled, using your chest for support, and struggled to move with your eyes closed in hopes that maybe when you opened them, the pain would be gone.
‘It’s what she trained for.’ you told yourself. It’s what all the Beta Company is trained for. To put an end to the war with the Covenant. To secure the future for humanity, the future of your children, and your children’s children at the cost of their own lives. It’s what she’s intended to do. You knew this, you knew this before you even got entangled with her. So why did it feel like she took a bullet to your heart? Why did it resemble some sort of betrayal on her part?
Every thought in your head was coming to you in full force, knocking your brain around its place. With all those thoughts, you could muster out no more than a simple “What?...”
Kat’s expression continued on its serious route, even a hint of sorrow is etched into the small fixtures of her face. Your eyes, full of terror, made her tremble with despair. She felt her chest tighten the more she looked at you. But she never was one to flee from a hard situation, that’s what the UNSC told her during her Beta Company training. There wasn’t a better time to showcase that than now. So with a light breath, she removes her hand from atop yours, “Got the message directly from Colonel Holland- I should start under Commander Carter within the next three weeks or so.”
When your voice can’t find the means to let out any type of noise, she continues, “I don’t exactly know what they’ll put us through. Or even when I’d be back from such a duty like that…” She trails off, not wanting to let the next words slither past her lips. “If we ever make it back… I intended to do this better,”
Your expression has turned again. Thankfulness is all that goes through Kat’s mind- at least you hadn’t looked so fearful. She exhales, closing her eyes to allow her skin to feel the heat of the departing sun, before whispering, “If you’re still confused, I’m asking if you can take care of this for me.”
The tiny ring was placed center of her palm along with another slightly bigger band. There it was. Not a question like you imagined it would be. But that was what you envisioned was her reasoning for taking you from work early, and having you fully fed with comfortable shoes and clothing. She wanted to make it special, but you couldn’t push your fear down. Especially not when it seemed like you’d never have the pleasure of showing off the quaint silver band around your empty fourth finger.
Twin bands… or better yet, a couple. “I wanted you to wear it knowingly being my wife, but I don’t know if that’ll ever happen.”
Your hands make their way to her face, your palms on either side of her jaw, allowing her to meet your eyes. As unsure about your answer as you were, you knew that Kat needed to hear you say it. To hear the reassuring tone that would let her know that you would be hers, long after stars burn out of the sky. And certainly long after you both had moved on.
━━━━━━━━━━━・❪ ❁ ❫ ・━━━━━━━━━━━
Kat hadn’t imagined that she’d see much of the ring again. It bore a home under her armour which she rarely ever took off. She practically forgot it even existed. Much like how she hadn’t let her mind wander on the hospital, on regular civilian lives outside of her duty, and especially not on you.
“What exactly are we doing on Troy?” She questions, voice strained as her gaze turned to the window outside, the sun pelting her skin with a heat that she only dreamed of feeling outside of a Spartan suit. But her focus came around to the plants, those bright colours on an enclosed group of petals.
Carter takes his place near her, toppling over her head just a few inches away as she talked to him with her eyes not directed toward him. “Well if you haven’t noticed, Kat, you’re hands aren’t so full anymore.” he joked once he finally caught wind of what drew her attention so intensely. Tulips.
“Very funny, Commander,” she says, caught in a daze while staring outside. Bringing herself back to respond, ”I know we’ve lost Six,”
The room is quiet now. Carter allowed his mind to not wander off over the loss. Seeing as Six’s demise came from his individualism, he couldn’t help but feel a cloud of sorrow make its way over her emotions. It was their fault but Kat felt differently. Maybe had they made it there quick enough, they could have saved him. Thom… what an idiot to act without backup but how idiotic of them to believe that he wouldn’t do something like that. Sacrifice, after all, is a hero’s death. Carter knew that all too well. Kat, equally and in other ways, knew that in order to maintain some sense of control over the actions that were bound to happen, sacrifice was their greatest companion.
He nods, choosing to continue rather than falter, “Correct. We’ve also won Fumirole.”
“I wasn’t finished.” Kat finally brings her eyes to look up at him, “I also know that it’s only a matter of time before the Covenant finds some crack in our system.” She pushes the palm of her hand to the surface of the mattress to prop herself to sit up.
A swift wave of his hand on her shoulder draws her back down into the mattress as he watches her struggle to bring herself up to a more inclined stature, silencing her words, “That’s not really something you should worry about in your position, Kat.”
She huffs, frustrated over the assertiveness that Carter rarely ever showed. She had to remind herself that he was only showing such dominance over the position due to her lack of a right arm. “Pardon my manners, but I don’t see why headquarters won’t allow us to touch base on Reach already.”
“Considering the conditions that we’re in, you and the loss of our Noble Six, I’d recommend that regrouping is the best course of action.” Carter retracts his hand from her shoulder, placing it back at his side, “It’s not like it’s a break. We’re still working, but we all need some time to recover before we put back out there… Is that understood, Noble Two?” She felt her blood start to sizzle in heat. Whoever put Carter in charge knew what they were doing, except when it came to his assertiveness- Kat found that it could be unbearably annoying at times.
“Understood, Commander.” was the last thing she said as she hoped it would be enough to terminate the conversation. But it didn’t, and she always found herself gaining a bit of a sixth sense for the next topic of discussion before it even managed to occur.
Like a moth to a flame, his words met her ears in a fight of resistance. “Saw Y/N today, didn’t think a woman could look anymore radiant. I hadn’t realized that I missed her, though she seems like she doesn’t want anything to do with us.”
Her breath hitches at the sound of your name, had it been so long since she heard it? It must have been, Carter was tiptoeing over the idea of provoking her, bringing her up to get a reaction.
“I know you miss her too,-”
“Commander-” she called out sharply.
“I can see it in your eyes, I’ve seen it for months when I asked you about her. You clutch your chest every time I do but you think I don’t notice.”
“You’re our leader, it’s your job to notice everything.” Another huff leaves her lips. She couldn’t tell if he intended for this, for you to see her like this and give you hope that she was still holding on. Or worse to see the ring attached around her neck and make you believe that she had reconsidered taking you as her wife. She couldn’t give herself hope, it’d crush her if she tried. “It would never work, and she knows that. So do I.”
“Do you?” His focus moved down to Kat’s neck, with the band looped around a chain that laid flat above her breast. “Surely this old thing can’t be for demonstration.”
“With all due respect, sir, I’d suggest you let it go.” She utters firmly.
How stubborn could Kat be to not see what everyone else was seeing? Had she thought they were blind or was she denying herself the embarrassment of being left behind, a figment of someone else’s past? Carter bowed his head, his face inches away from Kat’s ear as his words were stunted. “You are the most brilliant mind I have ever met, Kat. There is no one that will ever compare to you. Nor is there anyone who would possibly want to lose you.”
Any words that were supposed to leave her never did. It didn’t take a rocket scientist to know that Kat was a priceless asset. And as a member of the noble team, you always knew that she was needed, less by you and more by the Spartans. You were also always aware that Kat might never make it back from a mission. That you might see Carter in his cobalt suit walking towards you with sullen and avoidant eyes. Whispering to you in broken sentences that would be consumed by sobs had he met your gaze. Yeah… you always knew that her life was valuable but expendable. That even though she was careful and calculated and was rarely ever wrong, it would be a miracle if she made it past the age of twenty-five. And if she did, then she was one lucky son of a bitch.
Kat told herself she was content with the fact that she’d be leaving humanity’s grasp with no regrets and with no one to mourn her once she threw in the towel. Though she wasn’t enthusiastic about the operation she trained for to taint her life with fear. Nor for it to taint your perception of her with a corpse that wore her wedding band around her neck. Or for her to be a phantom, coming back to you exactly how you described it the day she walked away from you if Fumirole took its vexing turn.
At first, the small squeaks in your shoes didn’t startle her. She stared out the window idly, consumed by her own thoughts to even ponder on whatever it is that the nurse might say to her. It isn’t until she catches a familiar scent, one that fills her senses with blooms of a sweet lavender that could only belong to one person,  “What are you doing in here?”
You stood there, in your scrubs and a stethoscope around your neck with a clipboard taking refuge in your hands as you fumbled through sheets of blank pages, avoiding what little eye contact you knew Kat would give you. “Thought I’d check up on you, you came in with quite the injury.”
“I don’t believe it’s your job to do that.” She voices, too hoarse to speak at an average level, and opts to whisper the next sentence, “Conflict of interest and all.” she says more to herself than to you.
Your fingertips softly glide through the edges of the paper, planting your hands flat on the top sheet before you choose to meet her gaze.  “We’re a bit low on staff, so I-“ Kat’s eyes were a deep red, bloodshot as though whatever rest she had gotten had been whisked away from her system. Her face was covered in bruises as well as there was a large bandage on her right cheek, assumed to cover the part of her exposed gums and teeth. She looked sluggish, face riddled with sternness. Maybe her injuries were a lot more than you thought them to be.
“I,” You started again, “don’t think it’s a problem. I’m sure we can be civil for five minutes while I do my job, considering my supervisor’s name has Halsey attached to her Catherine.”
A subtle roll of her eyes and huff of breath doesn’t take you by surprise as you lightly grip her arm, wrapping the blood pressure monitor around her bicep and pumping air into the cuff as she watches you attentively. Your sights remain on the inflated cuff that wraps around her arm. For moments it’s like this, just you and her and the cuff. Neither of you offered what little comfort you both could bring to each other, knowing that it wouldn’t do any good for the period of time. Kat had to be the one hung up, to be desperate enough to plead for an explanation that would slice through her newly hardened exterior, leaving jagged edges to cut her up all over again.
And by that point, even the sutures wouldn’t help to repair her this time. Alas, she was never good at leaving well enough alone, not after she caught the blinding glance of the ring that shined around your finger… who wouldn’t notice that? “I just don’t understand you.” Kat whispered out, the sound of her voice, all hushed and hollowed out but low enough that if someone had stood by the door, they couldn’t make out the sentence.
Her attention pulled from a scrutinizing watch of the outside to a softened look. “You knew this couldn’t be anything more than this…” She exhales deeply, “Than these longing looks and sleepless nights away from each other. You knew that and you chose to let me… to let me care for you and leave when you were in too deep.”
Through the view of your dark eyes that drew their intentness, you begin to pump the air into the cuff as it swells around her arm forcing a squeeze from her bicep as you attempted to steady yourself. With a hold of the cuff, you muttered, “We couldn’t stay like that and you knew that as well.”
“You never really gave it much of a chance once I joined the Noble team.” She continued, a rise in her voice coming to the surface as you connected the cold metal of the stethoscope to her inner elbow, Bump-Bump. “Though I can see why. I come back like this more often and I would have broken up with myself.”
Bump-Bump. “Kat please,” you couldn’t deal with this, not now when she was forced to be bedridden, resting in the same hospital as you, the love she let slip away from her fingers.
Bump-Bump.
Bump-Bump.
Your hands shook against the instrument as you attempted to drown out her words with the sound of her heartbeat, which got increasingly faster as she spoke. Maybe she was right, you couldn’t possibly get anything done with the state of things now. Bump-Bump. Not when every sentence that came out of her mouth shook a feeling in your stomach, one that couldn’t be repaired with all the bullets she was hitting you with, “Did you know how much I loved you?”
You glided past the potential the words held, but she didn’t let you. She wouldn’t have you work so easily. “Do you know how much I still love you?”
Bump-Bump.
“Of course, I do.” is what you wanted to say. You wanted to whisper so slightly how much the thought of her brought a swirl into your heart. You wanted to fill your nostrils with her scent and crawl into the cavities of her body, nestled into those empty spaces as though they were made to house you. You wanted to hold her to your chest and freeze the moment, living in the pseudo-reality where tulips grew every day rather than every spring. It’s what you wanted, but life wasn’t justified in its pain. It wasn’t meant to remain stagnant, but to continue speeding around on a carousel until the participants fell off.
Bump-Bump.
With a huff of your breath, you took the stethoscope from her arm, unlatched the cuff and placed it on the stand next to her bed. Your head is bowed down to look at the paper as she watches you, “Loving you and being with you hurts. Seeing you like this hurts, in more ways than one. I can’t hold onto you like this. I just can’t,  it’ll drive me mad.” Once again, your eyes laid on hers and traveled down her face to her neck which was holding up the paired band. Solemness was your expression now,  “Even if we were never to see each other again, I can’t allow you to believe that we’ll be anything more than this.”
“This? Strangers you mean?”
“Kat,” You called back to her once more, placing your hands on the sides of her face, her cheeks cold in your warm hands. Your ring sent shivers down her spine. “You weren’t coming home, not to me at least.”
Even the words came out spliced, though you told yourself that you hadn’t cared. That proved to be a great lie. You couldn’t help the worry and fear that coursed through your veins like the blood that filled your insides. You couldn’t help seeing her bloodied and injured. Neither could she help the outpouring of feelings that took over her senses.
“You don’t want me, that’s fine,” she said with bitterness present in her voice, placing her hand to yours, and dragging it from her cheek. “But don’t paint it as if you doing me a favour. The only person you are protecting is yourself, even before it was about protecting you. It was always about you.”
You stared at her blankly. You hadn’t imagined that talking to her again would shatter your resolve more than it did when she left. What a rude awakening that reared its ugly head when you noticed how time passed by since her last words to you. How she changed from the Kat you knew, one filled with love in her heart for only you rather than one with malice who felt the sting of unwantedness.
You told yourself it was more desirable to lose her on your own terms than to imagine life without her because of her death. That letting her go on your own would force you to accept that your love was a short-living flame. One that fought the atmosphere that’s consumption planned to overtake the flame. One that couldn’t leave smoke in it’s path if it was still lit.
In the lowest tone that you could muster, you ended with, “Well I’m sorry you feel that way, Catherine.”
━━━━━━━━━━━・❪ ❁ ❫ ・━━━━━━━━━━━
Kat’s mind was a frenzy of thoughts, though she was composed and performed at her usual efficiency… there was something blocking her up. Even as your talk with her left the both of you to your own selves, so much so that you hadn’t even noticed how time passed by since the interaction.
Six days. Six days that you tried not to tiptoe too close to her room, staring through the slim window that allowed your sight a glimpse of her droopy eyes and unamused expression. And of her trying to get you out of her system, attempts to lose herself in the battle of blood and carnage on a planet far from yours.
Though she wish she hadn’t… not when the news of Troy being glassed hit the base. And Carter so lawfully broke the news of the insufficient survival rate, marking down that you weren’t among them. Her insides blazed like a forest fire, engulfing her sense from her head to her toes. She felt a similar churning feeling, not like the one she would usually get when the Noble Team was struck with tragedy. This loop of a severed heart, consumed by her blood gushed through her epidermis like holes in a dam. Squeezing through a sphincter to be bubbled and eaten away as every second passed her by.
It was Kat’s wrongful assumption that you’d be the one to receive the news of her demise. What might that have been like had that actually been the course of events? Would you have despised her for what she had said to you just a few weeks ago? To insinuate selfishness from you of all people… how stupid could she feel when the exact pain that she was tiptoeing around would have been bestowed upon you at any given moment? How your words were laced with heartache when she assumed venom fueled your fear?
She too wished she had never grown to be fixated on you. She understood that now and carried it with her until her dying breath was swept up in an instant.

M!Noble Six with a cuddly s/o?
Ah, been a while since I wrote for Noble Six. Hope these aren't too late for you, anon.
Noble Six would be all for a cuddly S/O, despite his reservations about his armor being removed. To him, physical affection reassures him that his partner is real and safe, and the amount of dopamine that swirls through his veins is enough to send him off to Cloud Nine.
Just in general though, Six wouldn't mind PDA; in fact, I imagine he actively encourages it. He is a rare instance where despite him being a Spartan, he is quite open to the idea of physical touch in a relationship and isn't afraid to initiate it with his S/O if they'll allow him too. Be it hand-holding, an arm draped across his S/O's shoulders, he's all for it.
When the revelation is revealed to Noble Team about his S/O and how he can be quite affectionate with his partner (in a non-sexual way), it is something they didn't expect from someone who was formerly considered a lone wolf. Carter is the one who took the most issues with it; seeing it as they're active military, he believes that Six should keep physical contact with his S/O in public to a minimum and not preform it at all in front of superiors, but Six was never one to follow the rules too closely. The only part of the lecture he'll agree with is no PDA in front of his superiors, since he doesn't want his S/O be forced to split from him.
I follow my old set of HCs from quite a bit ago in the fact that Six would cuddle his S/O on the floor of their apartment when he's able to take some leave-time from his duties. Being a Spartan has some benefits, so Six would help his S/O buy many weighted blankets and pillows to help cushion the more rigged parts of his armor, along with buying stash of snacks and random movie flicks.
Prefers being the big spoon for obvious reasons - he's incredibly protective of his partner and has seen pieces of war that he would've never wanted to see, so holding them in his arms grants him some form of comfort. Doesn't mean he'll always want to be the big spoon though; after a nightmare or a rough week of jobs from Noble, he'd enjoy being held, or at least the best his S/O can hold him.
During his temporary leave-time from active duty, Six would likely carry his S/O on his back while he carries out the needed chores for the day. Quite quickly he'd become known through his S/O's little community - S/O's Spartan in shining armor, ever protective of his love, but radiates a soothing presence and carries a heart of glimmering gold. Six helps out whenever he's able to, but tries not to stay out too long as it make sure the sun doesn't agitate his S/O too much.
There have been a few occasions where Jorge and Jun visited Six during his leave, and the sight they got to witness Six catching a break under some shade, his S/O's head laying against his armored thigh and in a pleasant slumber; Six's gloved hands would be tenderly brushing against their scalp while his gaze was drawn to their sleeping form, love guiding all of his delicate actions. Jorge chuckled softly as Jun gave him a look - the mysterious Noble Six was absolutely love-struck.

Training Camp
Emile-A239 x Female! Reader
Synopsis: You knew Emile-A239 back in Alpha Company. You didn't think you'd cross paths again after being separated for different missions. Turns out, it's a pleasant yet upsetting surprise to find out just who the new Noble-6 is.
Content Warning: Angst, Fear of love, Fear of death, Death mention.
Tumblr media
He had a feeling that name sounded familiar. He was hoping by some odd coincidence it was just someone that also had your name. But no, the new Noble-6 was exactly who he thought it was.
"She can't be here..." Emile mutters to his leader, Carter.
"Why not? She's capable and willing to listen to orders." Carter explained to Emile. "I thought you'd know, she went to the same training camp as us. Is there something you aren't telling me? You two always got along."
"It's nothing-"
The fact you two always got along is what scared him. He didn't want you here because he hated you, he just didn't want you here because he cared for you. If anything happened to you it could jepordize the mission.
"Nice to see you all again." You chime, entering the large tent they set up for a base. "Jun, Carter, Hey Emile."
Emile gives you a dismissive wave, too lost in thought. He couldn't tell if he was happy or concerned that you were a part of Noble Team. Only time would tell if he could overcome his worries....
------
Emile was still a good comrade to you in battle, just like he was when you were both in training. It was a shame when you had to be moved to a new team. You missed your close friend and never expected to see him again.
Then you were alerted to the passing of another Spartan you trained with, Thom. Noble Team was looking for recruits and you fit what they needed. You expected a decent reunion to meeting them again, if any.
Instead you got Emile, the Spartan you were looking forward to seeing the most, ignoring you. Anything outside of the mission was just not important to him. Including conversation from you.
It... saddened you to know he was ignoring you. You'd understand if you did something but from what you could tell you hadn't angered him. He was just indifferent.
"He's just been like that lately. Nothing you can do about it." Jun huffs.
"He'll get back to his old self in time." Carter tried to reassure you.
Yet despite all your attempts to spark a bond between the two of you again, you're met with cold responses.
"Don't you have anything better to do?"
At some point you felt you should just stop trying. He wasn't going to change and you just needed to focus on the mission. It didn't matter, Emile has changed so now you will too.
You never understood his behavior until he saved your ass once during a mission. Such an action that sparked an argument between the two of you. Only then did you get it.
"You should've been more careful!" Emile pulls you aside after the mission was clear in private.
"I was doing what I could, Emile. I just messed up one-"
"Once is enough to get you killed. It only takes once to lose your life." Emile pushes back, cutting you off.
You're silent, surprised by his tone.
"This is exactly why I didn't want you to join. If you got hurt I couldn't live with myself."
"... So that's why."
You step back, giving Emile some distance.
"You were so distant from me because you didn't want to lose me...."
"As a Spartan you already lose a lot, I wanted at least you to be safe."
"Emile, there's no need to worry."
"What makes you say that?"
You cautiously step closer, a hand on his shoulder.
"I'd put myself in danger if it meant I could be beside you."
Emile seemed conflicted by what you said. You say nothing more, only hugging him quickly. You then walk away to continue your duty. No use being more intimate than that in the field.
Falling in love with you was exactly what Emile feared. Yet the longer he was beside you and after hearing what you said...
Perhaps he should make the best of this while he still can?

In The End
Noble six x reader
Tumblr media
Faint sounds of fire crackling filled up the once was mainly empty cave which was now more of a hide away for yn and noble six, until some rescue group is sent or they found a way to leave. Ever since Reach was glassed com signal has been nothing but shit. It was noble sixes first glassing but somewhat the opposite for yn, if you count them bein on alpha nine under bucks Command and witnessing the start of New Mombasa glassing otherwise it could be they're first. After the lost of Rookie it was hard for everyone in alpha nine, eventually after a while the team went separate ways, but once in a while will meet up for a simple dinner. After a good few weeks for yn they eventually became a squad leader themselves for they're own team. Hard at first, settling in as a leader while still recovering from rookies death, it eventually became easy after a while. Awkward in the very beginning but eventually yn came up with a way to slowly break the ice which worked, became close, real close, as a family at that, but In The End, all good things end. While on Reach with Noble Team not only witnessing the deaths of sixes teammates but you're own. Oh the guilt... what a bitch. The flashbacks, everything. Looking over at the 1000 lb spartan who was sitting across from you now next to you, aware of how you're clearly feeling. It was interesting, all Civilians, Higher Command Staff, ODST, ONI even believed in the stereotypical stuff around Spartans being nothing but superhuman, merciless, Killing machines with no emotions, but six has shown otherwise. Despite his past of being a Lone wolf, which noble team managed to help him slowly break the mindset of, has shown how he cares for his own teammates, how close he is with them and how much his teammates death took a drastic impact on him. You knew he was afraid of Loosing you, and you wouldn't blame him. Too much has happened that if you lost either or, the other would more in likely go insane on a full rampage. His silence reminded you of Rookie in a way, how silent he was but put his genuine feelings in actions, funny how he didn't talk much but you both were always found with one another, though six can and will talk, he was still a more of putting his genuine emotions through his actions guy which you didn't mind. Spacing off at the entrance of the cave as you sat there and thought to yourself.. how were y'all gonna leave.. what is going to happen when you do.. what if there's no way to leave.. your mind kept racing slowly making you have a headache before a gloved hand reached and held one of you're's. "You know thinking is good but there should be a limit." He spoke tiredly. You wouldn't blame him, the firefight with back to back waves of Covenant and trying to survive took a drastic impact of energy. "I know.. but" being cut off as he place one of his fingers over your lips to make it clear for you to be quiet. "Shh, here eat this and rest. We can plan something when we have enough energy to go and explore Reach after the glassing for any luck on anything" handing you an MRE before opening one himself, "will do Leiutenant" emphasizing heavily on the Leiutenant before looking at him making yall both laugh, before he shooked his head. "Honestly, the only reason why I'm sane right now is because you're here. Otherwise I would've been gone mentally." He admitted, making you smile at his words, though at other times he could be cheesy, with you he didn't hesitate to talk, not even one bit. "I could say the same" you replied as you looked out the cave entrance, evident is night as you waited for the main entree of the MRE to finish heating up. Maybe In The End not everything is gonna be a giant pill of shit, but you weren't gonna jinx it.. who knows maybe he could taken from you in the blink of your eye, looking at the spartan who was struggling due his gloves you couldn't help but snicker some before offering to help him open a small packet....
Hi there, I'm B-312-MIA! Must say this is my first fanfic in a long while and I'm still learning more about Noble Team due to me being more of an ODST halo person. I hope yall enjoy this little one shot we can call it I suppose. But do if you ever have a suggestion I should write please share, I don't mind writing anything though smut would take a bit longer due to me not writing those much. But I won't waste any more of y'alls time and let y'all have at it. :))

Catnap + Dogday x Reader ( Part 5 )
<<< Part 4 , Part 6 >>>
Relationship : Fluff
Warning : ⚠️ Mention of blood / gore, human experiments ⚠️
Plot : You were sleeping until you woke up and realised you weren't in the infirmary anymore
Tumblr media
Catnap has made his decision, he decides to pay you a visit. Even if it is just a mere minute.
This is the only time he disobeyed The Prototype, surely his god would understand, right?
He had pleaded The Prototype to spare you out of all humans in the facility.
The Prototype accepted it but he won't assure about your survival during the massacre. Whatever happens to you will be Catnap's responsibility.
How about he convince you to join him? To be in the team and follow The Prototype?
It makes Catnap feel happy at the thought of the person he loves joining the team.
Just you and him, might even Dogday if he ever joined the group.
Wait...What if you refuse? Surely you wouldn't, right? If you refuse then he will force you. Yeah, definitely because he wants you safe.
Even it means dragging you down to the deepest and darkest of the Playtime Co, just to keep you safe.
As soon Catnap reaches the infirmary, he peeks his head in the room only to find it empty.
"...Star?"
You weren't in the room, where could you have gone to? Then, his nose picks up a familiar scent.
No...it cannot be.
His pupils dilate as he quickly crawls through the vents and makes his way towards the laboratory.
.
.
.
.
.
You hear voices around you which causes you to wake up.
All you see was the white ceiling instead of the colourful ones, you tried to move your body but you couldn't.
"You're finally awake"
You turn your head to the source and see one of the higher ups, a man in lab coat. You've seen him before but where...?
.....
If you remember correctly, you've seen him in the organisation chart and also on the papers you always work on.
"Dr. Sawyer...?"
"Oh, so you know me... interesting"
In his hand, he held a clipboard. He jotted something on the paper before looking down on you.
You are confused.
What's happening?
Where are you? What is this place? Why are you....here?
"I'm sure you have a lot of questions on your mind. You are in the Bigger Body Initiative programming room"
"Bigger...Body Initiative?"
"We've been monitoring you for quite a long time, now. It's quite hard to find someone that is compatible with our program. We have finally found a suitable host for our newest mascot, you are...perfect"
"Host...m-mascot? W-what are you saying?!"
You have to escape. If you stay you will never know what they will do to you!
Then, the metal doors before you open and came in a doll....
An angel doll with a pair of wings and a golden halo on top of her head, the doll is very beautiful like an angel as it is.
"All the children needed now is an angel to protect them, guide them and help the Playtime Co flourish. Your personality will become handy and guide the children to a better future for the company"
Every word he's saying, you don't like it one bit....
Dr. Sawyer leaves the room, saying you should get accustomed to the doll first.
You begin tugging on the belt on your wrist but they are too tight. You stare up at the ceiling above you.
You cannot escape....
You don't have anything on you to help you escape.
You slowly take in your surroundings, there is a table next to you full of operating equipment, which makes you pale.
Are they going to dissect you and sell your organs?!
Hell no!
"Help! Please!"
You cried out for help, though your voice fell into deaf ears. Tears start pouring out from your eyes, is this how you will die?
Plap, plap, plap.
Your ears pick up a pitter patter on the floor, you look down only to see a plush version of Catnap staring up at you with its beady black eyes.
Did...the plush just....moved?
Then, it tilts its head causing you to flinch in surprise.
The plush begins to climb on the table and hops on to you, you begin to panic and close your eyes, waiting for the pain to come.
Clack!
The straps on your wrists were loose and you open your eyes to see Catnap plush gnawing on the leather strap on your ankle.
Freeing you.
With your hands free, you quickly unstrap the belt on your other leg and hop off the bed. You walk over to the door but it won't open.
"F*ck!"
You begin to look around and notice a vent but it's high up, you can't reach it even if you climb on the table.
What are you going to do?!
You feel a soft tap on your ankle and you look down to see Plushnap, nudging your leg before pointing up at the vent.
You told it you can't reach it.
Then, Plushnap does a throwing motion before holding out its tail and stretches it with its paws.
It doesn't take you long to know what it was thinking.
Now, you hold Plushnap with your strong hand as the toy wraps its tail tightly around your wrist.
"Are you ready, buddy?"
*nods*
You give your best swing and throw Plushnap towards the vent as it tail stretches like a rope, the toy grabs hold on to the vent door as you begin to tug on its tail.
The vent door snaps open as you watch Plushnap crawl into the ventilation system, before you know it. You feel yourself being hoisted up.
How can a plush pull a full grown adult?!
Once you enter the vent, you feel arms dragging you and your face slams into rough fur.
That smells like lavender.
"Catnap?"
"Star....are you alright?"
You pull yourself off from the tight embrace and meet face to face with Catnap.
Before you could question him, he bites the back of your gown, holding you like you are a kitten and begins to crawl fast through the vents. ( you were so close to slip out of the hospital gown since it's just a piece of thin cloth )
"Catnap! W-what's happening and what is this place?!"
"....Not now, must.....get you... somewhere safe...stay quiet or...they'll hear us .."
Even though Catnap crawls through the vents fast, he doesn't make too much noise thanks to his soft paws and being lightweight unlike the other smiling critters. He was built to be silent so he doesn't wake up the sleeping orphans while he does his patrols in the night.
You look through the gap of the vent doors to see people in lab coats.
Who are these people? You know they have a science department but....these people are.....different.
Then, your eyes widen when you pass a vent door. You see a dissected body of a child....
Your hand slaps your mouth, you were horrified at the sight. Next to the dissected body is a bloody toy that has organs in it.
Are they...putting human organs into toys?
What kind of madness is this?
Are they...no, are they using the orphans for sick experiments?!
All the sudden, the alarm went off.
"Did they know?!"
"....No"
"Containment has been breached. Experiment 1006 has breached containment. All personnel please evacuate immediately and go towards the nearest evacuation centre, this is not a drill. I repeat, this is not a drill"
Catnap then tosses you over his shoulder as you wrap your arms around his neck.
"Hold...me...tight...."
The feline slams his paw on the vent door and jumps down on the ground.
You see people running around and being attacked by....the toys.
Your eyes widen in horror at the sight of the toys biting and clawing onto the scientists, tearing and pulling on their skin. You could see flesh and muscles, even bones!
There's so much....blood.
Suddenly, something covers your face and it was a mask. You try to pry it off but something doesn't let you do so.
"Must...wear mask..."
Catnap said into your ears, you see a thick cloud of red smoke coming out from his mouth and it begins to fill the entire hallway.
Some of the scientists begin to drop down after they inhale the red smoke. You watch as the toys begin to bite down on their motionless body like a pack of hungry hyenas.
You were breathing heavily at the horrific sight, the small toys had come to life and kills everyone.
You can hear bloodcurdling screams in the distance, some were calling for help.
Catnap's eyes look at your form, he can see your pale face through the mask and your entire body shaking like a leaf. He has to do something, he didn't expect it happen now.
Maybe ...using the red smoke on you could help you...just a little whiff.
He can manipulate your dream, yeah. He makes sure that everything was a nightmare.
Yes, he will do it.
"Catnap?"
You feel the mask loosen and the smell of the red smoke begins to enter your airway. Then, you start to feel drowsy and the next thing you know.
Everything turns black.
A/n : I'm sorry for not updating for a long time, I had a writer's block for the past days. I apologise for that 😭. I know this is a short chapter and I will do better next time, I hope this stupid a** writer's block goes away soon.
For those who send me asks, I will answer them soon.

Okay, frens, I’m about to probably be a lot less available once NaNo starts tomorrow. Which is kinda saying something, given how I’ve been pretty absent lately. Being sick sucks rocks through a straw. 😕
However, the exceptions will be if:
I’m stalling (despite the fact I’m probably panicking that I’m not writing at the same time 🤷‍♀️)
I’m blocked (in which case I might ask for prompts just to try to get something short going again)
My writering muse* is being a little jerk (there’s no cure for this 😣😛)
(*I just caught this weird typo and left it because “writering muse” felt appropriate for some reason, lol, kinda like she’s wandering around, maybe gonna write eventually... 😛)
Again, depending on how I feel/how things are going, I may start editing and posting things just to give me a much-needed serotonin boost. We’ll see!
I’m hoping going to write “The Price” (Frosthunter, The Flash, NSFW) in its entirety because I have a total of one (1) person at AO3 who has politely asked me about it a couple of times over the past - what, year? Two years? - since I first mentioned wanting to write it. Just when I’m about give up on it, this lovely person writes me a sweet note saying how they hope I’m doing well and that I’ll still write it one day. And that gives me the strength to keep fighting on, lol!
Tumblr media
Despite the fact that, well, Zoom isn’t usually a laugh riot, “The Price” is intended to be rather explicit smut with a humorous slant. Just how explicit and how humorous... we’ll find out together! Even if it’s just me and that one lone person over at AO3, lol!
(If you ever wonder if your comment will make a difference, then I can promise you that yes, it definitely does. Just knowing that somebody cares is SO important. 🤗)
Secondly, I want to finish “Cupid’s Kiss” (Snowells, The Flash, NSFW) and “Guardian Angel” (Snowells, The Flash) at long last. 🤞😣🤞
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This will probably close out my Flash fics for now. I wish I could’ve gotten them done sooner but... Life, right? 😕 I hope that anybody who still cares how they ended will get the chance to see them.
“Try” (aka the Big Beast of ReverseSnowThawne) still might randomly appear one day, despite being a thing that exactly zero (0) people probably want to read, lol. But I still want to see how it all works out and it has worldbuilding and there are already 3 chapters written so... We’ll see. It definitely has enough mileage to it to give me the 50k for this NaNo.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Over in the world of Halo... “15 Minutes” chapter 6 (John/Reader) and “Recreation” chapter 3 (Kai/maleReader) are in pre-planning. (“15 Minutes” is the rare beast of mine in that I actually have so many events still in store for it that I’ve done an outline. As a long-time pantser, that’s saying something, lol!)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
“Choices” (tentative title, Noble Team x Reader, Halo: Reach) is something I’m still very excited about! It starts with the premise in chapter 1 where the reader meets Noble Team. At the end of ch1, you’ll choose who you’re going to go with and there will be links to the appropriate chapter that will conclude the story with you and either Carter, Kat, Jun, Emile, Jorge or Six (male and female versions).
I’ve always loved Choose Your Own Adventure type stories and after reading @lialacleaf‘s awesome and super fun Master Chief x Reader interactive fic “The Medic,” I was inspired to try my own variation (mine is, of course, a very simplified version, you only make that one choice of who you’re going with but still! Similiar if simpler! 😁)
Tumblr media
If you’d like to be tagged for any of that, just let me know. 😉
Flash Masterlist
Halo Masterlist
Anyway, that’s where I’m at right now. I have only a really basic NaNo playlist done but that can fall into place as we go along. 🎵💃🎵 I just mainly gravitate to songs with a good beat to type to, lol! This one is already on there...
youtube
“Sing Along” - Sturgill Simpson
Noble Team is kinda running to the beat in my GIF, lol! 🤷‍♀️😂
Anyway, it’s helpful to me to spell out my goals, hence why I wrote all of this. 😉 Good luck to those who are also participating in NaNo and happy November to those who aren’t!

MY LOVE, IS MINE ALL MINE
—PART FIVE
pairing: lucifer morningstar x fallen angel! fem! reader
fandom: hazbin hotel
genre: fluff
notes: gotta keep writing to feed the simps.
PART ONE | PART FOUR | PART SIX
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Lucifer sat in his office chair, pen on one hand as he finally did the paperwork that he was procrastinating on for... A few months now, but anyways.
He was deep in thought, the fountain pen fluidly moving along with his hand as he signed the documents. Mind wandering, dissociating even.
He has a lot to think about considering that the next extermination is coming in a few days.
His eyes landed on his right hand, ring finger bare of any rings. He smiled proudly to himself, it took some work to actually remove his wedding ring and he finally did, his divorce doesn't hurt as much as it used to be. He has a lot to work on, his heart, his mind, and his actions.
He's happy that he stopped staying stuck in the past and now, he's ready to move forward. He has let go of Lilith, as the woman wanted. But he'll never forget [y/n], despite the distance and lack of communication, he still thinks of her as his best friend and he's glad she never stopped thinking of him too.
Lucifer sighs, a small smile on his face. Smiling at the thought of her. His hand once again moved gracefully along the paper, ink rolling off the tip of the pen as he signed his signature.
He misses [y/n], he longs to hug her so much.
Knock, knock.
He flinches at the sound of the front door being knocked, the sounds echoing off the castle walls. He lives alone after all, so the palace is deathly silent.
Lucifer groans, rolling his eyes.
It's probably another solicitor or another sinner wanting to have an audience with him.
Choosing to ignore it and continue with his work.
Knock, knock, knock.
There it is again, the annoying sound of someone knocking on his front door.
He exhaled, continuing his work.
They'll go away if I ignore them, just like always.
He mutters to himself, huffing in annoyance as he works.
Tumblr media
[y/n] huffs to herself, crossing her arms around her chest. She's been knocking for a few minutes now and nobody answered.
I wonder if he's home?
She thought, standing outside the door. Hand running over the skirt of her light blue dress.
She waits for a few minutes, taking a deep breath. Trying to calm down her beating heart. Mentally practicing what she wants to say to him when she sees him.
Bringing her hand back up, forming into a tight knuckle. She knocked once more.
Tumblr media
Knock, knock, knock.
It took so much patience for him not to break the fountain pen on his hand. Lucifer gently brought down the pen on to his table. Bringing both his hands towards his mouth and nose as he exhaled exasperatedly. Closing his eyes, eye twitching a little.
I stand corrected, this sinner is persistent.
Taking a deep breath, he finally stood up from his chair, grumbling as he left his office. Going down the stairs.
Finally arriving at the front door of his, fixing his clothes to look presentable to whoever is at the other side. Raising his guard up as he doesn't trust other sinners.
Finally opening the door, eyes closed in annoyance. “Yeah, yeah. Who's there...” his voice died down when he opened his eyes again to see a familiar angel standing on his doorway, [y/n] looking at him awkwardly, waving her hand at him shyly.
Did he go insane without realizing?
[y/n] is standing on his doorway wearing a cute light blue short dress that reaches beneath her knees, halo no longer on her head but he can tell she used it as an accessory based on the golden bracelet on her wrist. She looked as beautiful as the day he last saw her. Though, he had a tint of worry as he noticed the bandages on her arms and knees. What happened to her?
Is this a hallucination?
“[y/n]...?” he asked hesitantly, afraid that she'll disappear and afraid she's just a fragment of his imagination.
[y/n] smiled, heart beating loudly against her chest. Lucifer stood in front of her. The white suit with red accents really fits him, he's just as beautiful as she last saw him, more even.
He is really here.../She is really here...
Finally deciding to break the silence between them, [y/n] smiled at him, “It has been awhile, Lucifer.”
Her voice was enough to snap him from his thoughts and without thinking, he leaped into her arms and hugged her. Tears finally streaming down his pale cheeks. The action causing both of them to fall into the floor.
The warmth of his embrace around her was also enough for [y/n] to silently cry. She misses him so much, so many years spent without him made her incredibly so lonely.
Lucifer grips into her waist, burying his face at the crook of her neck as he sobbed.
Lucifer wonders if this was a dream at first but he was able to inhale the familiar perfume she always wore and it was enough to make him cry even more.
It felt like the universe finally listened to his pleas. He was just thinking that he misses her so much a few minutes ago and then suddenly she's in his door step.
“[y/n].... You're really here... Wait...” his eyes widened as he finally removed himself from her warm embrace, holding her arms gently.
“Why are you here...?” he asked softly, voice hoarse from crying. [Y/n] wiped her eyes with her hand but he stopped her as Lucifer summoned a clean handkerchief and gently wiped the tears off her cheeks.
[y/n] smiled weakly, “I fell.” she says with a small giggle. Lucifer deadpans, eyes blinking not simultaneously. He stood up and offered a hand to her to help her stand in which she gladly accepted.
“What do you mean you fell? When?” he asked worriedly, [y/n] smiled softly as she placed a hand over his cheek. Thumb running over the red circle on his cheek adoringly.
“I have a lot to tell you but I fell... A few days ago... Charlie found me and she treated me during it all.” [y/n] explained softly, his eyes widening. Why didn't Charlie tell him?
[y/n] can practically hear the question based on his facial expression, she smiles. “Don't get mad at Charlie, I asked her not to tell you...” she says, avoiding eye contact.
He frowns, leaning towards her so he cups her cheeks, his other hand on her chin. He tilts her head so she's finally looking at him.
“Why...? I... I could've helped you...” he asked, voice trembling. Guilty for not being there for her in her most time of need. [Y/n] gently removed his hands from her face, squeezing it assuringly.
“Because I don't want our reunion to be a sad one, I can't bear to see you so sad and I don't want you to see how bad my situation was...” she explained softly, her thumb rubbing circles in his hand. He can only imagine what happened to her based on her injuries. She's right, he might not function properly if he saw her so injured.
Lucifer sighs, shoulders dropping as he understands her explanation. But still, he wished he could've helped her more.
“But hey, I'm here now and there's a lot that we needed to catch up on. Don't you think?” [y/n] says with a giggle, a small smile on her face. Lucifer could feel his cheeks burning up as he looked at her beautiful smiling face.
Lucifer closes his eyes as a grin finally finds its way to his handsome face, “You're right, you got a lot of explanation to do.” he says, offering his hand to her in which she accepted. He pulls her inside the palace, finally closing the door behind them.
Tumblr media
Currently, the two are in his room just catching up with one another. Lucifer's hands shined a golden glow over her arms, his angelic powers helping her heal. He listened intently as [y/n] explained what happened to her.
His heart thumped loudly against his chest as he listened how she defended hell and how she finally got under Sera's skin that led to her fall from grace.
“You really did that...?” he asked softly, his hand working gently with her arm as he unwrapped the bandages around her arm. Her arm finally healed after helping her. [Y/n] smiled softly and nodded, “I made a promise to help Charlie and Sera hid the yearly cleansing from the other angels. It was revealed during Charlie's meeting and I was mad.” [y/n] explained to him, his gentle eyes looking up at her as he healed her arm. “I said some things to her and got her mad and I was placed in a trial in which I ended up guilty.”
Lucifer frowns, softly placing down her hand onto her lap. “I wished I was there to help you.” he says softly to her and [y/n] smiled and patted his head.
“It's alright, what's done is done. What matters the most is that I'm here now...” she says, bringing her hand up to cup his cheeks.
“Yeah... But, I hope you know that I appreciate what you did for hell...” he says, nuzzling his face against the palm of her hand. Eyes half-lidded as he looked at her.
“I know and I'll do it again. I believe that the sinners deserve a second chance.” she says, her eyes landing on the many piles of rubber ducks in his room.
“On the sidenote, I see you haven't gotten over your love for ducks.” [y/n] giggles, his cheeks exploding into a bright shade of red as he felt a little embarrassed.
“I can't help it. They're just so cute.” he says with a small pout making [y/n] laugh softly.
“Don't be embarrassed about it, I'm just glad you haven't changed much.” she says smiling at him.
His eyes widened slightly and then he smiled, “I am glad that you haven't changed too.”
[y/n] smiles, turning her head to look around his room. Seeing the portraits of his family on the wall, they looked so happy. She's a little jealous.
“You and Lilith huh?” she teases him slightly, Lucifer flinches slightly and avoids her gaze. “Well... Used to, we've divorced each other seven years ago.” he says, finally looking at her.
[y/n]'s eyes widened, a frown on her face. She felt guilty bringing the topic up. “Oh... I didn't know, I'm sorry.” she says softly, her voice held a tone of regret. Lucifer smiled and shook his head, “Don't be, it was for the best.” he explained, “We just stopped loving each other, that's all.”
“How about we change the topic?” he suggested with a smile and [y/n] nodded, “Since you're here now... Do you plan to stay at the hotel or here with me?” he asked softly to her.
[y/n] blushes softly, the idea of being alone with Lucifer in a large palace seems so.... Intimate. Lucifer's cheeks also burned slightly as he realized what he just asked.
“Staying here with you? Won't I disturb you from your work?” she asked hesitantly, Lucifer shakes his head no.
“No, no, no... You would never be a disturbance to me [n/n]... I would be glad if you stayed here...” he spoke so softly, eyes pleading for her to accept.
[y/n] smiles, she can practically read him like a book. Despite being years apart, their connection never faded.
“Alright, since you looked like you're begging me to stay.” she giggled softly, looking at him with so much fondness.
Lucifer can only stare at her face, she's looking at him like he's the most beautiful being in the universe.
Don't look at me like that, I don't want to fall too fast.
Lucifer blushes slightly, clearing his throat. “I just miss you, that's all.” he says, avoiding her gaze making her chuckle, “I've missed you too.” she says softly.
“I am really happy to see you again, it's been so long.” he whispers, wrapping his arms around her. “I am so happy to be back in your arms...” she murmurs back to him. Lacing her hand with his with him squeezing her hand gently in return.
They have a lot of catching up to do, a lot of feelings to uncover.
