The little hat I started while waiting to get the needles for my other project. Just a basic hat that I have memorized from a few years ago.
Use any worsted weight yarn, I use big twist value because that what I have.
Cast on 81 stitches on 16 inch size 7 circular needles. Make an invisible join and knit in a 1x1 rib.
I do a half twisted rib, so I knit through the back loop instead of the front. I get tired of ribbing easily, so I usually only do 8 rows, but ideally I do 12.
After the ribbing, knit all the stitches for atleast 36 rounds. If you want a slouchier hat knit more, but I found that 36 works well for me.
Decrease: switch to dpns
Row 1 of decrease: To decrease the top, knit 2 together and knit 6. Repeat until the end of your round.
Row 2: Knit all stitches of the next round.
Row 3: Knit 2 together and the knit 5. Repeat all the way around.
Row 4: Knit
Row 5: Knit 2 together, knit 4. Repeat.
Row 6: Knit
Row 7: Knit 2 together, Knit 3. Repeat.
Row 8: Knit
Row 9: Knit 2 together, knit 2.
Finishing: Cut your yarn, running the end through your remaining stitches and draw it tight with the tail on the inside of the hat. Tie off.
All done!
Photo are of hat in progress, with twisted rib, in the color wine.
Second photo is of completed hat, with a regular 2x2 rib and a different cast on method.

Look!!!
All used up!
Now I only have the scraps over that I cut from the fringe
Now back to some spinning (the rolag I got with the calendar)
This is probably the thinnest I have ever spun, every time I'm scarred the thread will rip 😬
Extra pic of the mittens

I had a fair amount of yarn left over so I tweaked the top half of the Oakwood knits stardew valley fall sock pattern and turned it into a beanie hat.
I want to do another one with the bottom half of the pattern because those chickens and tiny mushrooms and pumpkins were too cute.

Trying to finish something I was supposed to do ages ago--spinning a contrast color for this sock yarn. The fleece (southdown babydoll) had a pretty wide range of grays, most of which I blended together. But I intentionally left the darkest gray out of the mix so that later I could spin up just that, and have a dark gray for the toe and heel. So, now I'm doing that.
One thing I did not realize until now (due to intentionally avoiding working with the darker gray locks) is that they are all much shorter than the other colors of gray, and a lot of them are way finer too. That's not ideal, so I might not use it for the toe--it won't be as hard-wearing of a yarn and the toe/ball of the foot is what wears out the fastest on my socks by far, so. It's fine though, I just want some kind of decorative element that uses the fact that this fleece had lots of nice colors.
I'm also not that surprised, I guess. The longest locks were always the very light gray ones. Hard to know why without seeing the sheep though.

I made a hat with some of the weaving yarn that is over!
Also some flash for more accurate colors!
The free pattern:
It is a bit to small for my taste (definitely not Barett like... Not even after blocking) but it's over my ears, and in the end, that is all that counts 😌)
I also started a pair of flop mittens, with the rest. Soon I'll have the whole set 😈
The pattern I use :
