i guess ill share this with tumblr:

a handmade mug inspired by the album cover for your city gave me asthma.

(the paint job on the letters got pretty messed up, admittedly i didnt carve them in very deep so it was hard to paint white into the grooves)

in case my hand there isnt enough of a reference, this cup is super tiny. it holds about 5oz. did i intend for it to be that small ? no !! but its so cute so its okay

(it has been swiftly repurposed into a holder for my zebra mildliners tho)

i also have some progress pictures under the cut:

heres what it looked like fresh out of the bisque firing + after i shaved down the rough edges

and heres what it looked like with the unfired glaze !

this project was so unbelievably stressful for no reason, i was having like false prophetic visions and nightmares about it getting destroyed or the glaze job ruined, but luckily i think it turned out pretty great ! at least, for my very first handmade mug. probably would've looked a little smoother if i couldve used a pottery wheel.
