Hey, Aubrey!
So I have some pretty exciting news for Fab Friday. I'm sending this a day early since I have to work tomorrow but I'm so excited to talk about this that I just have to get it out!
So I am a person who has a lot of passion for things like astrology, numerology, personology, etc. I used to run a blog that was creative writing about the astrology signs a few years back, but now I've started a new project that's numerology-based, which will be my favorite.
So this isn't like a song or novel or poetry, but it will still involve a storyline (or 9 to be more precise) and is going to be perhaps one of my biggest projects ever and will take a LONG time to complete.
It's a game! Okay, correcting myself again: it's 9 games! So the world is numerology-inspired. There are 9 seasons (y'know, like winter, spring, etc), which change with every generation.
The 9 seasons/generations are inspired by numerology. I didn't name the seasons, instead I numbered them 1-9 and the number of the season/generation is based off of that number's meaning in numerology. Even the weather patterns are inspired by it.
Anyway, I started on the game and below is my progress so far. It's not much, but I'm so excited to be finally physically starting on it:
Tumblr media
I'd go into more detail but this is already a really long ask, so I'll end it there. :)
Thanks for giving me the opportunity to gush! I'm so excited!
WHAAAAT THIS SOUNDS SO COOL!!!!! What a FANTASTIC concept!!! I can't wait to see how you expand on this and further develop it!!! I couldn't even begin to wrap my brain around writing something like this so I'm definitely looking forward to updates!!! :)

Oh god you got on the plane early if you're still flying! o.o I hope you manage to get some more rest. I'm so jealous I adore New York! Have fun :D
Nah nah I got on a plane late. Had a flight leave at like 10:45pm from California, land at like 6:15am Virginia time, and then it’s a quick jump to NYC.
I will be taking a slow morning upon arrival don’t worry. I don’t have the energy for anything else lol

So, Hannah The Horrible on YouTube released this (roughly 45 minutes long) video yesterday on her channel, and the second part actually surprised me because it talked about my former Facebook friend Jeremy Pauley and his arrest for trafficking human body parts.
I now feel comfortable enough to say that, at the time of his arrest, Jeremy and I lived 5 minutes apart in the West Shore area of Cumberland County Pennsylvania. I technically lived right around where Lemoyne meets Enola, I knew where he was and could have walked there from my house, and we saw each other at the Camp Hill Walmart a few times prior to his arrest. Between 12 and 7 years ago, I was working with the staff at Established Ink, which of the time was in Mechanicsburg Pennsylvania down the road from where Jeremy's significant other Meghan works at the Mechanicsburg 717 tattoo. (Established eventually moved to a location owned by my ex stepfather in Carlisle Pennsylvania before going out of business because of the owner of the shop giving my aunt hepatitis during her first tattoo and because the owner and several staff members at established Inc have severe addiction issues that led them to not being able to keep up the shop or to keep up the agreement that they had with my ex stepfather) and at the time I was very familiar with the staff at 717 Mechanicsburg as well as having known Jeremy after being introduced to him on Facebook by Dionna (Colicchio) dal Monte and also by Jester Mayhone, both of whom I was Facebook friends with at the time.
I used to really look up to Jeremy Pauley because he was a very well established and popular body modification artist in our area who did not do tattoos which was exactly what I at the time was hoping to do as a career (piercings and non-tattoo body modification) and he was always really nice to me and never set off any major red flags other than knowing Dionna, who even at the time was actively involved in neo-Nazi movements and had a hand in attempting to traffic me to Europe for the purposes of supposedly marrying one of her Italian friends and possibly becoming an adult actor in Italy.
I think it should be worth noting that I met Jeremy originally whenever I was 16 and I was a young and naive piercing apprentice and at the time I really didn't understand how deep this shit went. I knew that he was into taxidermy and oddities but I assume that everything that he had had been legally obtained, so I regarded him as just another creep in the body modification industry who was generally harmless. He was a creep, but a nice and personable creep, or so I had assumed. I'm really sad to find out since then that I was extremely wrong.
I did make a video a little over a year ago explaining how I came to know him and what my thoughts about the situation were but at this point my general consensus is just that Jeremy Pauley and everyone who was related to him in this circumstance are really creepy and horrible people and I'm really glad that he plead guilty so that he could face consequences for what he's done.
I know that I'm often very critical of people on YouTube who make content about things like this because there's a lot of exploitation involved in the practice of horror YouTube videos and their creation, but I want to give Hannah props for being extremely respectful towards everyone involved in this case. I love her work and I really appreciate her covering this.

Aubreyyyy long time no submit!!! I know I'm a day early but with every passing day this week, I'm more and more and more exhausted (welcome to being in your 30's Hannah xD) but anywho~
I wanted to send this now so I don't forget tomorrow.
So!
I'm still not writing a whole lot. I don't know if I ever will again, but I do run 8 writer support blogs AND I recently started a new version of a project I've been wanting to do for years. But it kind of combines 2 things I've always wanted to do.
So I've had autobiographies I've written in the past many times, but this time I'm writing my story as a musical. It's in screenwriting format and it's been so fun so far! I've decided I'm going to turn my autobiography into a musical mini tv series and so far have written I think 5 or 6 scenes and 3 songs for it :)
I don't work on it super frequently but I always try to get at least one scene done when I do work on it ^_^
Thanks for running this event for so long! It's been almost a year (gasp) that's amazing! I hope future years continue to be successful and that you know how beautiful and appreciated you are as a person <3 thank you for continuing to be your beautiful self.
You are A BEAST for keeping up with that many blogs!!! Running one blog is enough to keep my plate full! XD
I LOVE your musical mini tv series idea!! That sounds so creative and fun!! I really love that you're finding and maintaining your enthusiasm despite fatigue and adult responsibilities zapping your energy. That can be really hard to do sometimes, but keeping that love for writing alive in any way you can really goes a long way! ♥
I KNOW! I think June marks the official one year mark and it'S SO CLOSE!! I'm THRILLED to see people returning whenever they get the chance and sharing their enthusiasm!!
Keep up the WONDERFUL work you're doing on your writing! And rest whenever you need to, lovely! ♥

Since youre antifascist, how about you give us a definition of fascism? What exactly makes someone a fascist? (and in case you use terms such as left-wing or right-wing be sure to define them too)
Guess it's been a while since a clever Anon challenged us to define fascism, huh? Right, let's get into it: Via the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum:
Tumblr media
Yale professor Jason Stanley:
Tumblr media
“Fascism is a creation of race hatred and its politically organized expression.” - Willhelm Reich, The Mass Psychology of Fascism (1933).
“Fascism is capitalism plus murder.” - Upton Sinclair
“Repression by brute force is always a confession of the inability to make use of the better weapons of the intellect — better because they alone give promise of final success. This is the fundamental error from which Fascism suffers and which will ultimately cause its downfall…that its foreign policy, based as it is on the avowed principle of force in international relations, cannot fail to give rise to an endless series of wars that must destroy all of modern civilization requires no further discussion. To maintain and further raise our present level of economic development, peace among nations must be assured. But they cannot live together in peace if the basic tenet of the ideology by which they are governed is the belief that one’s own nation can secure its place in the community of nations by force alone. ” - Ludwig von Mises,  Liberalism: A Socio-Economic Exposition (1927).
“Spent most of the day reading fascisti leaflets. They certainly have turned the whole country into an army. From cradle to grave one is cast in the mould of fascismo and there can be no escape … It is certainly a socialist experiment in that it destroys individuality. It destroys liberty.” -  Harold Nicolson, The Harold Nicolson Diaries : 1919-1964 (2004).
“The liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerated the growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than the democratic state itself. That in its essence is fascism: ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or any controlling private power.” - Franklin D. Roosevelt
“A fascist is one whose lust for money or power is combined with such an intensity of intolerance toward those of other races, parties, classes, religions, cultures, regions or nations as to make him ruthless in his use of deceit or violence to attain his ends….If we define an American fascist as one who in case of conflict puts money and power ahead of human beings, then there are undoubtedly several million fascists in the United States.” - Henry A. Wallace
“Fascism is the cult of organised murder, invented by the arch-enemies of society. It tends to destroy civilization and revert man to his most barbarous state. Mussolini and Hitler might well be called the devils of an age, for they are playing hell with civilization.” - Marcus Garvey,  Authors take Sides on the Spanish War, 1937 Philosophy Tube's breakdown of the elements of fascism is very thorough and recommended if you're not the reading type. But do you read books? We hope so if you're looking to engage in political discussion about anything. Here are some books that tackle the definition of fascism, in whole or in part, that we would recommend to you (check/order from your local library!) Mark Bray's highly-accessible Antifa: The Anti-Fascist Handbook is a great starting point for this topic.
Tumblr media
Columbia history professor Robert O. Paxton's excellent book The Anatomy of Fascism goes into this in great detail.
Tumblr media
There's also Umberto Eco's The Eternal Fascist
Tumblr media
or his "practical list for identifying fascists" as well as Hannah Arendt's seminal The Origins of Totalitarianism
Tumblr media
We hope you weren't looking for a simple answer to the complex question of "what is fascism?" Anon, just as we hope you're up to taking our challenge of checking out all of the above so you're curiosity is satisfied and you're well-versed on the topic.

i think you do a really impressive job balancing comprehensive/concise while referencing a lot of complex frameworks(contexts? schools of thought? lol idk what to call that. big brain ideas) but if you have any readings specifically on the institution of psychiatry topic that you would recommend/think are relevant, I'd be interested. it's absolutely not a conversation that's being had enough and I want to be able to articulate myself around it
yes i have readings >:)
first of all, the anti-psychiatry bibliography and resource guide is a great place to start getting oriented in this literature. it's split by sub-topic, and there are paragraphs interspersed throughout that give summaries of major thinkers' positions and short intros to key texts.
it's from 1979, though, so here are some recs from the last 4 decades:
overview critiques
mind fixers: psychiatry's troubled search for the biology of mental illness, by anne harrington

pharmageddon, by david healy
pillaged: psychiatric medications and suicide risk, by ronald w maris
the making of dsm-iii: a diagnostic manual's conquest of american psychiatry, by hannah s decker
the myth of the chemical cure: a critique of psychiatric drug treatment, by joanna moncrieff
the book of woe: the dsm and the unmaking of psychiatry, by gary greenberg
prozac on the couch: prescribing gender in the era of wonder drugs, by jonathan metzl
the creation of psychopharmacology, by david healy
