Bargain

One final bargain, determines how this will end.

“You could have killed them. It was clear that Weselton sent his men to kill you, Elsa.” Prince Hans calmly approached the Queen in question, relieved as he saw the iron shackles securely held her in place. He had seen the full extent of her power with his own eyes at the ice palace, notwithstanding the blizzard outside the dungeon’s cell, which was caused by the prisoner in question.

“From your perspective, it would have been the expedient thing.” He continued, his reasoning earned a small groan from the blonde who shook her head at the thought of murdering someone for her defense. He was right, her inherent hesitation made no sense during the confrontation as she had the upper hand all this while. With one sweeping motion of her hand, she could send not just Weselton’s men to their graves, but a handful of other guards that accompanied Hans as well.

Don’t be the monster they fear you are! His words were true and clear back then, perhaps the exact reason why she didn’t take out Weselton’s men. She never intended to harm anyone, let alone kill another. But if desperation comes knocking, if he hadn’t persuaded her, or if he did it a few seconds late, she might. And if so, becoming the very ‘monster’ she swore not to be.

However, she’s neither of those. Or so she vehemently believed. How could she? Her powers were too strong for her to control either way.

“And yet, to you, it would have been repugnant, Prince Hans.”

“Not necessarily.” A sweeping silence hung in the air for a bit. “. . . How are the people faring in this weather?” She asked, inhaling a deep breath, changing the subject.

“I have done all that I could, Your Majesty. Hot soup and warm clogs are made available in the Great Hall. Yet I fear– no, we fear the longer this goes on, your people will perish. Elsa, if you can stop this winter and bring back summer. Please. . .?”

“Don’t you see? I can’t – You have to tell them to let me go.”

Elsa pleaded, overwhelmed with the new development he shared with her and the despairing reality that befell Arendelle. It is not a good impression for the foreign dignitaries who found themselves stuck in the kingdom either, for they will surely bring this shocking news and word will travel faster; the new Queen has unleashed terror and thus brandishing herself as a dangerous witch who poses a great threat to the people around her. But it’s too late for that, isn’t it? She is a monster. 

The auburn prince regarded her for a long while, a sympathetic look settled on his feature. Soon he was conflicted, as evident from his eyes, his steady breath showed traces of cold fog due to the freezing temperature. Eventually, something clicked in his mind.

“I will do what I can.” The prince answered. It was clear to him, at least, that Elsa was unwilling to try and stop the blizzard that plagued the world outside – and there was only one thing left to do that he thought was the best decision he could make for this situation; imprisoning her until he figured another way to assist Arendelle.

If you could let me lead you through this time of trials, you ask for a leader. A servant responds. Trust Hans of the Southern Isles.

“Tell me, is that how you learned to be one of them?” A question arose from her, the wind outside seemed to (coincidentally) howl louder than before. “By learning to care how your actions seemed in the eyes of another?” It sounded as if she was challenging him. Almost distrusting, even. Quite the contrary to the confused and desperate woman she appeared just a while ago.

“I’m not sure I am one of them.”

He lies through his teeth, his back facing the queen as he folds his arms in front of him. You can ask your dying sister, he thought to himself. 

Everything that has led to this– the moment Anna publicly proclaims he is in charge of protecting Arendelle in her absence. . . since the people saw him for who he is, not the 13th son of a King– is precisely why he cared how his actions affect the outcome of the people’s trust in him. 

Hans knows that, even if the Winter ceased, the crown would not rest on his head so soon. He would have to continue giving orders to nurse sick Arendellians back to health, arrange a funeral for the death of Crown Princess Anna and hold a period of mourning for her. Elsa’s imminent execution will naturally fall behind in his grand scheme, and he would have to hold a discussion with Arendelle’s council to appoint the next crown for the throne– which he confidently believes would be his. And all he needs to do by then is play the part until the end.

“Your Majesty, please. I implore you to try. If not for Arendelle, for your sister’s sake.”

“Wait no! You can’t leave me here, get Anna—”

She took a few steps forward, though she soon found herself restrained from further advancing to the prince. Hans, meanwhile, seemed to ignore her altogether, determined to return to the dignitaries and reveal a tragic ending.

Princess Anna is. . . dead. He began rehearsing the lines in his mind. She was killed. . . by Queen Elsa. 'You left me with no choice, Snow Queen.'

An extended scene (if you will) of THE dungeon scene inspired by this post for the television series, Elementary. Disclaimer: I have never watched the show but I was excited when I saw that gif set because I imagined what it would look like if Hans tried to persuade Elsa to stop the winter. Anyway, I've added this fic in my ongoing series, Chronicles of Helsa here!

Hey there! Long time no see! Here’s some rough hypothetical Frozen III concept art of Helsa!

Now, I can’t predict what they’ll do for the next two movies, nor am I the best digital artist, but I wanted to try my hand at conceptualizing Hans and Elsa’s visual identities for this next chapter in the franchise.

With Elsa, I decided to evolve her travel outfit from the last movie and color her in some darker blues that don’t wash her out like her white dress. I incorporated some of the rosemaling from her coronation outfit and some Northuldra stylings as well into this coat and dress combo not only to honor her roots, but also to reflect her newfound wildness and freedom as protector of Arendelle and the Enchanted Forest. That even though she has these god-like powers bestowed upon her, she's still grounded and she's still human, with newfound determination in her skills.

Hans, on the other hand, has dropped all of his facades. No longer concerned with keeping up appearances, I decided to make him look more disheveled and intimidating than his younger, cleaned up self. I've always been a proponent of the bearded Hans concept, but here I think it fits as he has no incentive to perform anymore. His only motivation is vengeance, whether at Frohana or a different antagonist, an "enemy of my enemy is my friend" situation is anyone's guess. He's colored grey and his intentions are grey, no ornamentation, nothing, only the light blue of his shirt hints at any kind of sympathy or redemption.

I also wanted to show that these two share a lot in common, and I've stated this before: Hans and Elsa are two sides of the same coin. Both were isolated during their childhoods, resulting in years of loneliness, misery, and bitterness; both try to appear poised and reserved, hiding their inner self-loathing; both are intelligent and cunning, both have a definite aggressive streak, and both seem to be be on equal footing with interesting chemistry in their very few scenes together.

Here, they are now wild and unrestrained, the main difference being that one of them succumbed to their worst intentions and desires, while the other freed themselves and learned to embrace love and peace in their life.

I'm working on doing concepts for Anna and Kristoff as well, and I'll do Honeymaren and Ryder as well to round out the party, so stay tuned! Digital art takes a long time! Especially when you're still learning how to do it! 🙃😅

We fucked up as a society and I’m very tired of 2023 and not being able to ship my favourite ships anymore, like a character not eveyone loves, having my own opinion.

When I say I ship Helsa people go INSANE. Not only they tell me I’m weird and crazy but sometimes also give me death threats. Once I left a comment on tiktok saying : „I dont ship elsamaren but I love your edits!” And then this girl checked my account and saw Hans/Helsa tiktoks and texted me : „Kill yourself honestly, you homophobic idiot”.My question is WHY? Why am I being called a homophobe when I’m not? And Why Can’t I ship Helsa? Is it killing people?Am I hurting innocent kids because of it? Setting World on fire? AM I FORCING YOU TO LIKE THIS SHIP? ABSOLUTELY FUCKING NOT.

I don’t ship Elsamaren and Jelsa, I don’t think they have chemistry at all. I love Hans with Elsa and in my eyes they have the greatest tension and chemistry. But — Let me surprise you now…This is my own preferance! My point of view! My opinion! MINE.
