hi :) first of all! good morning and i hope u have a nice day,, ily lots bestie <3 but um for research purposes can i ask what this is and where do u read it skdjfjwj
*pulls out powerpoint presentation* IM GLAD YOU ASKED, ZALY
explanation for my current fixation under the cut cuz yes i do know i get noisy when it comes to stuff i like,,,,, AND I ADORE TGCF OK I LOVE HUALIAN WITH ALL MY HEART
Tumblr media
as you may have noticed, i've been babbling about something called tgcf recently,,,
heaven official's blessing (tian guan ci fu) is a chinese novel by mxtx that has been adapted to a manhua (comic) and a donghua (animation)! season 2's release date hasn't been announced yet, but we do know it's in production.
the manhua looks like this, drawn by our lord and savior STARember:
Tumblr media
and the donghua like this:
Tumblr media
hover hand bc chinese censorship is strict 🙃
synopsis:
Eight hundred years ago, Xie Lian was the Crown Prince of the Xian Le kingdom. He was loved by his citizens and was considered the darling of the world. He ascended to the Heavens at a young age; however, due to unfortunate circumstances, was quickly banished back to the mortal realm. Years later, he ascends again–only to be banished again a few minutes after his ascension.
Now, eight hundred years later, Xie Lian ascends to the Heavens for the third time as the laughing stock among all three realms. On his first task as a god thrice ascended, he meets a mysterious demon who rules the ghosts and terrifies the Heavens, yet, unbeknownst to Xie Lian, this demon king has been paying attention to him for a very, very long time.
when they say a very long time, they're not kidding
you can see english translations of the novel here! i read chapters 1-25 from sakhyulations then 26-40 from deep dream translations. the whole novel has actually already been translated by yummysuika, but they took down their translations because tgcf is getting an official english release (you can get pre-orders now! im also saving up money to buy the physical book ughh) but if you search hard enough, you can find the whole novel (244 chapters + a few extras)
i recommend watching the animation first, then read the novel if you want to know what happens next (preferably from the beginning, the novel explains more details compared to the donghua)
the comic is a bit ahead of the animation, but i reckon you wouldn't be too happy to see the exact same events play out in three different mediums, so i recommend leaving that for last when you're left empty after finishing the novel and you're desperate for more content haha
i guarantee you that this book is fantastic. the story just pulls you in with the interesting plot and loveable characters (xie lian is one of my favorite protagonists ever) the romance is super good! you can see how much the main couple loves each other *sobs uncontrollably* and it's not just there for fan service, their relationship is very important to the story and UGH DAMN IT I JUST WANT THEM TO BE HAPPY-
a few words of warning: it's... angsty. like hella. it burns. it stabs you in the gut when you least expect it. heck, it stabs you even when you expect it. it hurts a damn lot. it's got a happy ending (according to other people, i'm still in book 3) but the road towards it is thorny.
also it has some body horror (in the novel, the donghua doesn't show much). not very explicit but it can gross you out if you're squeamish.
tldr: Y'ALL SHOULD GO READ IT, COWARDS

This week has truly been win after win for the magical gays, ya love to see it
First, we got the announcement for the official EN translations of not one, not two, but all three of MXTX's series. A surprise, sure, but if you think about all the traction they were getting recently, maybe we should have known it was going to happen. I've been smiling since the announcement like it's Christmas day when you're 6
Not even 24 hours after those three are in the top 10 on Amazon on several countries and in the top 3 of Barnes and Noble. At this point things start to feel really unreal. Right now, it's mostly dedicated fans supporting the author and the translators. What will happen when new people discover these wonderful beautiful emotional books? I've been in several fandoms where I felt like a defibrillator, desperately trying to inject life back into a community in the middle of a content drought. This time it's like sitting in front of a bomb and barely containing my excitement as I watch the counter go down.
And if that wasn't enough, today I learn that The Heralds of Valdemar are getting a tv series. This is a book series that started in 1987 and has over 50 books in it by now. It had LGBT representation from the very start, in the 80s, only about 30 years ago, but far enough back to make it seem impossible. And the trilogy they're going to start from is one of the most emotional, for me at least, I have ever read. I have felt for many characters over the years, but for Vanyel I felt my heart tear itself apart.
Both MXTX's novels and Mercedes Lackey's novels have meant a lot to a lot of people over the years. They have meant a lot to me. Especially in these pandemic years. And I am so happy that they will finally get the recognition they deserve, that more people will discover these beautiful books, that at least one person out there is waiting to discover them and when they do they'll feel less alone. I'm looking forward to all of the new memes, fanarts and fanfics we'll get to experience together one day.
Am I getting my hopes up? Probably. Is it more than I ever thought I'd get? Absolutely.
All of this feels like a dream, but it's real. I feel like I need to repeat it. SVSSS, MDZS and TGCF are getting official english releases. The Last Herald Mage is getting a TV series. This week has been one hell of a win for the magical gays and you love to see it.

The announcement about English version of MXTX's novels is really an exciting news. Even after a day, it feels unreal? And to see the translators and artists are the people from the fandom, it's even more exciting. I'm not related to any of them aside from being a follower, but I'm so happy for them too.
Congratulations to SVSSS, MDZS, and TGCF fandom!

HAPPY TEIO DAY
Don’t know what that is?
Maybe you should read >> The Earth Is Online << and get back to me. If you like gays, puzzles, yearning, more puzzles, fun villains, and more yearning. Then this is probably the book for you!
Read MDZS or TGCF? You’ll probably like this! Except it’s better! No MXTX freak shit, the MC states outright that he’s gay, there are mysteries to solve, and it has yearning! What more do you need?
Summary under the cut!
The Earth is Online is a novel following Tang Mo, local gay beleagured librarian. His spends his days listlessly going to his job and playing bridge until a black tower appears above the city he lives in. Countless minds try to solve the mystery of this monolith.
The Black Tower remains impervious.
“One day, Tang Mo saw a flying insect crash into it instead of going through it. The next day, a sharp and clear child-like voice issued an announcement to all humans. “Ding dong! November 15th, 2017. The earth is online.
The black tower’s three iron-clad rules: 1. Everything is explained by the black tower. 2. 6 o’clock to 18 o’clock is the game time. 3. All players, please strive to attack the tower.“” This starts a series of games where humanity is pushed to their limits and given abilites beyond it. Society is disrupted in China and around the world- millions gone as a result of the games. Jobs are left, vehicles abandoned, any infrastructure is gone.
Tang Mo has to figure out how to survive, or even thrive in this world.
Will it be every man for himself? Or will humanity find a way to retain their bonds in this new world?
--
The Earth is Online is a Chinese novel by Mo Chen Huan. You can find a complete English language fan translation >>HERE<<.
There’s also a discord, hmu if you want the link. We have many jokes, several excellent artists, and teio emojis.

hi what' is mdzs in your recent post? It looks pretty neat from the fanart (i am intrigued)
Hello friend! :D Pretty fanart is what sucked me in, too
mdzs is short for MoDaoZuShi (Grandmaster of Demonic Cultivation), a Chinese historical/fantasy/horror/romance novel; there’s no official English translation yet (I believe a Korean one was just announced so maybe one day! we’ll get one too!) but there is a fan translation here! It’s also been adapted to comic, audio drama and animation-- I think most people now start with the animation, which is really beautiful and does make it easier to keep track of all the characters.
(I should also mention the novel does have ex plicit violence, gore and se x; nothing worse than you’d find in a bookstore, but just be forewarned)
Oh, spoilers, those two do get together eventually. But honestly the plot is so good regardless?? Came for the gay, stayed for the political drama. The setting backstory, to put it simply, is various clans/family vying for prominence via hunting evil spirits. The strongest clan attempts a hostile takeover, igniting a rebellion against them which includes the main character’s adoptive family; during and after the conflict, MC’s particularly brutal revenge earns him an evil and powerful reputation, and the first episode/chapter begins with his murder and unexpected resurrection into a world changed by his past life. (A lot of plot is told via flashback, you’re going to be confused at the beginning, don’t worry) Both the protagonist and love interest are different types of hypercompetent dumbass which I love
Also I’ve seen people I met in five different fandoms here in mxtx hell, so fandom feels like a cozy reunion of quality artists/writers, and I’m so happy rn. Please join us!
