Post-It
Pairing: Bryce Lahela x F!MC (Casey Valentine), although it focuses more on Casey in the story!
Summary: The job that you have been doubting has been the one for you from the start through a couple of post-its.
Warning: None, just fluff in literal.
A/N: Heyyy, I am back-ish? I feel like this is somehow a way for me to ease the last couple of days of stress. I wrote this with a perspective in my mind, the thought of people walking in and out of my life at times. Those people somehow had given me a smile, an advice, a laughter, and just.. a small glance had made a small difference. This fic is somehow a way, to thank those who had saved other people’s lives with a piece of advice, for those who always has been there for the ones they love. And, to those who had one way or another had saved my life, in a metaphorical sense. All of you are a blessing to the world, and keep being you. These past days, has been one of the peak points for now and... I felt very low. I suddenly thought of the low moments in my life, where someone would come by. Its either for a minute, a month, a year or even a whole lifetime. They left a mark on my life, and had helped me in one way or another. Thank you, and this is for those who has saved people lives by being there for them during the hardest. You are definitely a gem, and you are always worth it. And, to those who I met here, you guys too had somehow made me better. Thank you <3  (I AM SORRY FOR THE LONG AUTHOR’S NOTE) // Also, this is one of my fav ones to write! ENJOY!
A birthday gift to the lovely @honourlight ! Happy birthday, and thank you for everything love! <3333

Her diagnostics office can be quite lonely sometimes, besides the enormous piles of journals that were stacked on every part of the desk. She loved her job, she often wonder what life would be if she were not a doctor. All of her high school friends would comment on her job choice, with various of reasons that made her questioned her decision over and over again; as every failure that occurred, every setback that kept on pushing her down.
The table was scattered with papers of research studies on deseases as the team are trying to find out. Working on the diagnostics team was a dream, working alongside her idol: Dr. Ethan Ramsey, and the infamous Dr. June Hirata and the long lost Mirani twin in her eyes; Dr. Baz Mirani.
Her eys wondered at the trinkets on the table, a pile of pictures were plastered on the wall. A small part of her desk that was known as home to her, even from thousand and hundreds miles away.
The collection of memories that was made throughout her life more than any other year. The feeling of joy, sadness, betrayal was washed through her eyes as her eyes did a small run down on all the respective memories.
It stopped on a particular one. A post-it. Post-it's.
'Thank you for saving my life Dr. V' - Your future rockstar!
'I wanted to disappear once, and now; I felt like life has given me a new reason to live again. Thank you.' - Emilia
'I never knew he would survived, but... he did, I never believe in miracles but, it felt like a chance to start to see again. Thank you for all you have done to us' - Reg .
'Mommy loves to told us a story about a guardian angel looking over us, watching us and taking care of us. Thank you for becoming mine.' - Sean, a drawing of butterflies in a beautiful garden which could be translated as scribbles.
'A hundred of years would never be enough to thank you for everything that you do.' - A&P
Her eyes started to welled up, over all the stories that played in her mind. All the memories from the patients that she called 'friends', the memories of playing blocks with lil Sean at the pediatric ward. The time Emilia hugged her when she was discharged from the hospital after going through a surgery with Bryce in command.
--------------
After a long day of work, the pair stopped by their favourite joint to have one of their impromptu dates, as he recalls a story from Emilia herself.
'She told me about this doctor, blonde, emerald eyes. The prettiest smile in the world....' His eyes fall onto her, despite the exhaustion taking over he; she looked amazing.
'Stop it Bryce...' feeling quite flushed trying to get him to change the subject.
He shook his head with a smile,
'She told me how you were there to hold her hand during her check-ups, she told me all the stories of watching disney together and one of my favourites, the day where she told me about, the thunderstorm.' Bryce looks at her in adoration somehow, the figure sitting in front of him, is one of the best person he ever met.
Casey felt herself somehow getting choked up, remembering those memories flowed by. The thunderstorm held a special place in her heart, as she remembers the time where Emilia felt shaken by the thunder. She accompanied her, throughout the storm as they ended up, falling asleep on her bed. Talking about all of their favourite cartoons growing up, a huge smile was seen on her face after.
'One thing that stood with me after all, she told me...
....you saved her life Casey.'
He took her hand in his and gave it a squeeze, a gesture that words can't compare.
----------------
Her attention was interrupted by the sudden knock on her door, she hides her head down as an attempt to wipe the sudden tears falling from her eyes.
After a couple of attempts, she glances up meeting Bryce. A smile on his face, and a look of concern too.
'Dr. Valentine, I have a preposition for you.' He said in his doctor voice that made her choke in laughter.
'Go on Dr. Lahela.' She made her way to him, as he present a couple of small post-it.
'You look pretty today, I love you in blue'
She laughed at the note in her hand, as he winks before leaving the room. She calls him once more, leaving a smooch on his cheek as they resume their lives.
She smiled at the sight of it, as she took a seat once more on her chair. A sight of the other post-its caught her attention, as she unveiled it slowly.
A set of tears started to fall, as those were the ones that she recognizes very well. She remembers the time where Edenbrook held a small campaign of doctor appreciation day with the patients. She wasn't present during it all as the thought of it flows down her back. But, the post-its in her hands was the same ones from that particular day. A small token of appreciation to the doctors, which to quote the words of Dr. Naveen Banerji before.
'You saved me. Thank you.' was written in black, as the words were bold.
In that very moment, she loved her job more than ever.
The job of saving lives, was not for the weak. But, for the ones who will never give up and she didn’t give up. <3

Happy 4th!
[Bryce Lahela x Olivia Hadley Masterlist]
Tumblr media
Characters: Bryce Lahela, Olivia Hadley, Jackie Varma, Sienna Trinh, Elijah Greene, Rafael Aveiro
A/N: Not time-specific, but before Open Heart 2; this is mostly an Elijah fic as I’d imagine it is a big day for him.
Summary: The interns enjoy the holiday firework display from the hospital roof.
☆  ☆  ☆  ☆   ☆   ☆   ☆
The carols of laughter floated through the air above the hospital as the group celebrated the holiday together.
Olivia leaned back against Bryce’s chest, his fingers mindlessly tracing over her arm. “I still can’t believe you did all this.” She noted, gesturing to the picnic blankets and spread in front of them.
“We wanted to,” Bryce pressed a kiss to her temple.
Jackie took a sip of her margarita, her face wrinkling at the lack of alcohol due to being on hospital grounds. “Plus, with you and Sienna here on call and Rafael on standby, the alternative was being stuck with the scalpel jockey and doctor fanboy.”
“No offense taken,” Elijah smiled proudly at the compliment. “And, we weren’t going to celebrate Captain America’s birthday without you.”
“Yes, that’s why we are here,” Jackie rolled her eyes. “To celebrate a fictional character’s made-up birthday.”
“I bet you’re one of those people that tell children that Santa doesn’t exist,” Bryce quipped, to Jackie’s narrowed gaze.
Olivia laughed taking a sip of her sparkling cider, listening to her friends bickering. There was nowhere else she’d rather be.
Rafael scratched the back of his neck, blocking out the mumbles of fighting between the others. “I’d like to make a toast.”
The group slowly turned their attention to their resident real-life superhero.
“These past several months have been filled with joy, laughter, and memories. I know I’m not a doctor, but it means a lot to be accepted into this group for who I am.” Rafael lifted his glass. “To acceptance and friendship.”
“To friends that have become family,” Olivia added lifting her glass.
“Hear, hear,” Bryce added.
One by one they lifted their glasses. “Cheers!”
Sienna looked at her watch. “Oo, the fireworks are going to start in a minute!!!”
The group moved toward the ledge in hopes of catching a glimpse of the distance fireworks over the bay.
“If I may commemorate this moment with a quote from one of our greatest presidents,” Elijah cleared his throat. “Today, ‘We will not go quietly into the night. We will not vanish without a fight. We–’”
“No,” Jackie groaned interrupting. “He’s not really… you know he’s not, that didn’t happen.”
“Shh!” Sienna turned to Jackie, her eyes wide with excitement and a bright smile on her face. “I love this one!”
Elijah smiled, sitting up a little straighter as he continued. “‘We’re going to live on. We’re going to survive. Today, we celebrate our independence day!’”
The group cheered, as Elijah took a bow and right on queue, the fireworks sounded in the background. They turned their attention toward the brilliant colors streaming in the darkness.
Bryce wrapped his arm around Olivia’s waist, as she rested her head on his shoulder, enjoying the show from the comfort of her boyfriend’s warm embrace.

Trouvaille - Something lovely discovered by chance.
Her smile was visible as they sat at the rooftop, the final hurrah between them. Casey stares at the view above them, as her friends can be seen taking some momento’s with Elijah’s new camera that  he found while a day of thrifting.
She felt a presence besides her, as Bryce stood on the railing with her. Somehow, their silhouettes overlooking the whole city of Boston. It felt like a farewell, their final farewell to the small part of her life that has become a home to her in the last 48 months being there.
‘I’m glad you suggested this.’ Her hands were in his, as they held onto each other. Their eyes gazes onto the view, as the lights from the city view shines brighter tonight, reflecting her gold attire that made their night brighter in a sense.
‘It felt right for a last hurrah, a last goodbye…’ Her eyes trailed at their friends, who is enjoying their drinks as Rafael was found to be laughing from a joke, along with Sienna from a small reference of a tv-show from Elijah and Phoebe’s recommendation.
‘Hey, tomorrow is still here… It’s never goodbye.’ His voice echoed onto the night sky, a small comfort which unfortunately didn’t gave her the level of comfort that was needed. She smiled regardless, not wanting to ruin their night.
‘I know… have you thought of your next move after… Edenbrook?’ Casey felt her voice cut, as somehow a lump was form on her throat, a question that she wanted to avoid? The fear of the reality, the new future without Edenbrook somehow… is unimaginable? It was terrifying, yet… life was meant to be that way. A bit of terror, and a pinch of sweetness and a cup of bitterness.
‘…I have a few options in mind…you?’ His eyes didn’t felt brave enough to face hers, he sensed this conversation coming. Their futures had been hanged onto a thread, as Edenbrook faces its downfall.
‘I did some searching too, ever since Dr. Ramsey told us about it. I have been searching here and there, maybe somewhere far, somewhere new? But…’ she paused, as his breath stops for a moment.
‘But?’
‘It’s not home.’ Her eyes gazed into his, a small smile was seen on her face.
He remembers his and Keiki’s conversation in between moments, where he talked to her about the possibility on moving somewhere new due to Edenbrook’s fate. Those conversations live in his mind, even after he dropped her off at Connecticut. Their late-night talks brought his perspective. One of the silver linings of having Keiki at home. Somehow, it felt there is someone could understand his non-sense.
-------------------------------------
He recalls, their conversation.
‘I thought you are done with the new hospital talk?’ She stares upon Bryce who is currently stressed out from the amount of searching he has done during his day off.
‘I know, I guess… I still don’t know.’
Keiki took a seat on the couch, as Bryce lets out a sigh.
‘You have been saying that for a while Bryce, you should have made up your mind by now?’ Keiki questions him as a groan was escaped.
‘I am clueless, these hospitals are the ones I have wanted before; ever since I left college. There are openings for residencies, and … I should be thrilled.’
She raised a brow in question, she knew Bryce. He always knows what he wants, but… in this moment. It felt like he was someone new? Someone who has been influenced by a certain human being that she knows all too well.
‘Is it about Casey?’ Her voice is steady, as she didn’t hesitate. She saw their interactions, and she knew that look he gave her. It was the look of adoration and comfort. Somehow, she noticed how his lips curled into a smile as Casey made her way into their apartment for their daily dinner cook-outs. The way he would become a different person around her, the huge smiles as he finishes talking on the phone. The small moments where she saw him happy, and …. Its because of Casey. Casey Valentine.
‘…I don’t know.’ Somehow he wanted to say yes, somehow moving a new territory felt like the past. The past where he wanted to run away, a chance for him to start new. But, during this time… he loved life, he loves his job, he loves helping people, he loves his friends… and he loved her? He loves her.
‘You will figure it out Bryce, you will always do.’ Keiki said, giving him a hug before getting into bed leaving him there. Somehow, a moment for him to figure it out. The new future, or maybe the updated past? A conflict that has been running in his mind for the past weeks.
-------------------
Those countless nights of searching, and he knew where he wanted to go.
‘….I figure out where I wanted to go.’ He started to speak, as the uncertainty left him a smiled followed. In a split second, he saw the future ahead.
He wanted to go home, the one where he felt like where he is accepted and where he belongs. Looking at her, the hopeful look on her face says it all. She was his home, a cliché saying but… after all these months searching, calculating, struggling and living. The future was seen, a small silhouette of the future where it will end up in a good note.
---------------------
All of them are sitting together once again, talking about the possible futures. As the clock strucks midnight, and a million of memories made throughout the night. He was sober enough to make this decision, sending Keiki was a huge influence in this. The essence of change in life, and this is somehow a new change too.
‘…Bryce, where do you think you’ll be going?’ Sienna asked, as the stars above shining brightly on them.
Bryce took her hand in his, giving it a squeeze.
‘Home.’ Her eyes went wide at the sentence, as somehow… visible tears can be seen by them.
The four of them smiled at one another knowing what it meant, as the conversations followed them deep into the night with a rise of a toast, a new road and new destinations along the way.
The future is unknown, unthinkable. But, deep down. He knows;
He will always be her home, while she would always be his. Forever and always.

525′600 minutes since one Louis Lahela been introduced to the world as a gift weeks before Casey's birthday. It was the greatest gift one could ever give, as they had finally been a family after all these years. They have been trying for years, for the chance to grow a family of their own. To have kids, to be known as parents.
Their life wasn't very much beautiful, but… the world where they had the chance to be together. The world where the medical world has bonded them together through a place named Edenbrook Hospital.
Their journey together wasn't as easy as people thought, they were obstacles before they found their own happily ever after which leads to a new beginning. From the secrecy of his past, her conflicts towards her personal feelings, the arrival of his past, and… several reasons that kept pushing them away. But, one day. It suddenly disappeared as she realizes her true feelings, as he didn't want to push it away anymore. They wanted to make it work, to be together, and…its true, if you are meant to be, nothing could stop you. And, they knew.
Years later, they finally had the chance to expand their small family as one Louis Lahela was born. It was a long procedure as Casey was put in labor for 25 hours. It was a painful process, as the risk was life and death. They knew the risk, they knew there was a chance for death. The small price to pay in the sense of motherhood, as Bryce held her hand through the pain. The sound of crying, as the room went silent. They survived. Casey and their newborn had survived, and… the tears that were falling down his eyes were the ones he never expected to fall. The one, that he knew was coming… but, he never knew that the tears as the moment he becomes a father made him cry. The one moment he never saw coming, as he moved on with his life. The moment where he left his past, to follow his dreams. But, meeting her. He finally found his new dream, to be with the one he loved the most. And, that person is one Casey Valentine. His wife, his soulmate, his best friend, his partner, and… his one true love. Forever and always.
-------------
'Do you think he is ready for the real world, Bryce?' Casey asked as they were getting ready for their family outing. As they were a family of 3, instead of two.
'He has the confidence of his father, and the brains of his mother. I think he is ready for anything, aren't you?' Bryce uses his skills to make the baby smile, a skill that he mastered for this very occasion.
'That confidence might lead us to two troublemakers in the future, Dr. Lahela.' A smile on her face, as the Lahela family started on their first journey together.
'Then…. We might need to balance it out real soon.' Bryce replied with a wink, making her blush at the thought of expanding. They had talked, and they were both okay with either a big or a small family. And, Casey wanted a huge family. She never had many relatives as it was always been Dan and herself against the world. Bryce didn't voice out an opinion since Casey knows despite everything, he is going to be the best dad in the world. Either way, they are very happy with what they have now.
-------------
The journey was short, as they arrived at the park. It wasn't as packed, as it was a weekday. A day where both doctors decided to take a day-off on their free days. It was a way Bryce suggested getting closer to him, as every second of the day. Louis is growing up to become his own man, and… honestly, he wasn't ready to bid goodbye to him once he graduates or to leave him in this world once his time was run out. He knows all of their days are numbered, he wanted to spend as much as he could before he was taken away from him.
They decided to settle on a picnic table, as Keiki joined in the festivities with her favorite nephew. Keiki held onto the picnic basket, as Casey held little Louis in her arms who was asleep soundly. They were shocked that he wasn't a fussy baby, as Casey remembers the story her mother used to tell Bryce before. The fact that she was a fussy one, always cried especially in her car rides.
Louis is different. His tears can be heard as he was welcomed to the new world. Besides that, he was known as a very quiet baby as he wouldn't cry.
-------------------
Their day was filled with baby-family fun activities, as they spend their day with each other's company. Keiki somehow has become apart of their small family, and Casey wouldn't have it any other way. Both herself and Keiki would have their girl talks session that either involves planning Louis's outfits or Keiki's life stories about an adolescent Bryce Lahela from long ago. As a bonus, they managed to capture a lot of their moments. All of the good moments that one day they can go back to, during a rainy day maybe.
Keiki excuses herself as the sun finally sets. Leaving the family of three, as the moon is shining above them. They were exhausted from the activities and, honestly…spending time together as a family made it much worth despite their jobs. All of the families were seen before had left, leaving them. The air was cold, as Casey slips onto Bryce's trusty jacket with their little bundle in his arms.
They found out that Louis was indeed a night owl, as he would often be awake during the early hours of the day. And, tonight was not different at all, as he was awake. He was fully awake in Bryce's arms, cooing at the unfamiliar sight which is not his cot or the sight of his baby room. It was entirely different as his eyes slowly follow the view, searching some familiarity until he was met with his mother's emerald eyes. Looking at him gently, as he was taken in her arms.
Casey gazes upwards, as the moon was shining brightly above them. The little boy in his arms jumps excitedly at the unfamiliarity as the parents can sense the love for adventure that was mostly from Bryce. She gave him an all-knowing look, as they are going to be two troublemakers in the house very soon. The small on his face makes her heart flutters as he placed a kiss on her cheek. And one for his little boy.
'Look, Louis look up!' Casey exclaims excitedly as she points the shining moon above them. Louis followed the gesture, as his eyes lands on the round moon above him. He jumps excitedly in her arms, as his gaze was glued to the moon above him.
'It's the moon little boy! It's a huge moon!' Bryce encourages along as Casey held Lil Louis in her arms who is jumping excitedly at the sight.
'Bah bah, moooh!' His voice sounded mimicking Bryce's words as his eyes gazed on the shining moon.
Casey felt herself tearing up a little at these small moments, the moments she heard a lot growing up. The moments where she wanted to have a family of her own when she was in high school. The moment where her parents told her, to not take it granted. These are the moments where she looked forward to. The moments where it was them against the world.
'It was his first time recognizing the moon, I think I know where he gets that side of his from..' Bryce's eyes narrow at her, as Casey was an astronomer lover at heart despite medicine being her life work. He remembers the little stories her mom used to tell him, about Casey's obsession in stargazing, and anything space-related. Her mother always thought that she would become an astronomer of her own, but... medicine was her destined path and she was proud of how far she came as Casey grew up becoming her best self, and now… the best mother in the world in his eyes.
'He might be the future astronomer in the family aren't you Lil Louis?' Casey said giving him kisses on his cheeks and all, as Bryce lets out a small laugh.
'Or.. maybe a surgeon?'
Casey shook her head,
'Nope, no more scalpel jockey's in the house. Anything but that.' Casey protests as Louis claps suddenly at the sight of a shooting star above them. Both of their gazes followed him, as a smile appears on their faces.
It was their first shooting star with Louis, along with the first full moon for one Louis Lahela. Hypothetically speaking. It was a start that they didn't even know they will ever get a year ago. Standing there now, it felt unreal as they were finally a family. Their wish had finally come true, as Casey knows hers had came true a long time ago, as she first laid eyes on one Bryce Lahela, as the rest of her life was history.
The shooting star above them was slowly falling from a far distance, as the family of three stood silently with the happy coos of their little boy was heard as both of them made their wish.
After a few moments, they opened their eyes. As his hazel eyes were met with hers, a wished was made in silence as they decided to return to their home. Little do they know, their wishes had finally come true, moving forward.
------------------
They were more nights like these until the day fate had taken both of them away. Savoring their last moments together, as he lets out his final breath with Casey by his side, as Louis wished upon a similar shooting star years ago. Wishing to bring them back to the moment before, where he saw his first moon.
The first and the last as a family, he grew up becoming the person who both Bryce and Casey raised him to be; an astronomer with a gold heart. He also had two younger sisters who managed to follow his parents' footsteps, as Kailani followed their father's footsteps in becoming a surgeon whilst Alexandra followed their mother's footsteps in becoming a doctor in internal medicine.
The three siblings stood together, at the same spot years ago. The moon was shining above them, as the memories from their past emerge once more. It has been a routine for the Lahela family, as they would often visit the same spot in a few months for a small reunion or maybe…just a chance to relive the old memories once more, as the three siblings know that both Bryce and Casey are happily looking over them, with a proud facial expression at the two shooting stars above the three of them. Just the way it should be.
THE END.
A/N: Heyyy, its me! And I hope all of you enjoyed it! It was a sweet and fluffy one this time, since I am wanting some fluffy bryce content! But, the story kinda made me teared up especially towards the end, as it ends in a not-so happy way. But, its still a happy ending to me! Writing Bryce and Casey really bring me happiness somehow as all the stories were the fantasies that I had for a long time, and bringing it here. It felt amazing, thank you so much for reading once more! I hope all of you had a nice day! <3

Homecoming (Bryce’s POV) - Part 2
Read Keiki’s POV
Summary: Imagines on meeting Keiki for the first time, but from Bryce’s perspective.
Characters: Bryce Lahela and Keiki Lahela.
Warnings: None, language-ish. Nothing more than that.
A/N: This is the second part for this series-ish? The first part was Keiki’s POV and I am very glad that all of you enjoyed it! This is entirely Bryce’s POV which is the scene before MC meets Keiki, and Bryce bringing home the groceries. Its like an imagine of what it would be like? The music is blaring, as he inspects the selfie that they took at the music festival. The others were dancing including Casey herself, as she looks like she is in her element. Bryce smiles at the sight remembering their small moment earlier, it certainly makes up for all the lost time they had.
His phone vibrated suddenly, as the familiar name appears on the screen. Keiki.
He felt a pang of worry , as she never calls even after his departure. He knew it was important. Bryce called out for Casey, as his eyebrows furrowed in worried which was sensed by Casey herself. She pulled Bryce out of the crowd, as they stopped at a vendor, where she looks worried at his sudden change of behavior.
'I need to go.' Bryce stated as he walks away answering the call before Casey could call back for him.
The conversation went by quickly, as he took the train back to his apartment. It took him by surprise, after their conversation. Bryce never thought about seeing her again, but… the thought never left his mind. Despite what his parents did, Keiki is still his sister above all. He felt a pang of guilt as he remembers the voicemail that he left during her birthday 6 months ago, as she was living her life luxuriously in Hawaii, or that’s what he thought.
--------------------------------
Bryce was seated on one of the train seats, as it started to move. His mind was anxious, as he was trying to figure out the reason for Keiki's sudden arrival. He has a hunch that there were problems happening at home, but he shook the thought away since Keiki Lahela was known as his parent's very own princess that they would spoil rotten including a unicorn for her 5th birthday.
The walk to the apartment seems to slow down, as memories from his past (the good ones) are playing in his mind. Despite being years apart, Bryce and Keiki are each other’s best friends in the household. A memory during his senior year has floated in his mind as he is making his way back to the apartment. The memory was during a birthday celebration of his friend once upon a time, where the Lahela name was hated by the whole population of Maui.
----------------------------------
Bryce was out with his ‘friends’ as they were celebrating the beginning of the senior year. They decided to hit the bar, as most of them had reached 18 including Bryce. The first few hours were okay, as they were having fun. But, their fun was cut short; by a local who recognize him.
“You!” The stranger yelled at his face, earning a number of stares from the bar.
Bryce looks over to his friends, as he swallows a lump in his throat. He wasn’t drunk, as he realized what will happen. But, he didn’t flinch as the stranger continues.
'You are one of them right?!' He suddenly pushes him as his body falls onto the floor. The customers let out a gasp, as the majority of them were recording the scene.
'What are you talking about man?' Bryce replies as he wipes the sweat forming on his forehead before he stood up. The stranger was looking furious at him.
'You ruined my life! I trusted your family, and this is what I get?! All of you are a bunch of bastards, who came here just to ruin our lives.' He yells once more, as the customers all looked at Bryce with hatred in their eyes.
'It's a Lahela!' One of the voices shouted as they came forward yelling at him for everything his parents had done in the past.
‘We were supposed to have a baby, and now… we lost all of our money because of you!’ Another voice was heard.
'Liars!' The chorus of chanting was heard, as Bryce immediately leave the premise. He sighs as the fate of his life was always going be this way. His phone beeped, and he saw horror; he was removed from every friend group and, there were threats to his position in the basketball team.
‘Crap.’ He places his phone back into his pocket, as he made his way back ‘home’.
The house was dark as it was almost one in the morning. He made his way inside as he saw one of the house staff was waiting for his arrival.
'Hey, Jones.' He said before Jones lets out an expression he knew all too well; he was in trouble.
Bryce nods before making his way to the office, where his father would conduct his 'business'. He has a huge hatred towards the room as it brought so many good memories that were disguises for their business. He pushed the doors where his dad, is stood waiting for him with a stern look in his eyes.
'Do you know how late it is?' His voice was cold, but Bryce didn't give a damn.
'It's almost 1 a.m. So?' He crossed his arms feeling tired of this so-called conversation.
‘You should be back before curfew!’ He slammed his hands on the table making him startled.
'I'm 18, I can take care of myself.'
He shook his head,
'No, it's my house. My rules!'
Bryce's eyes were filled with hatred,
‘Fine, I will leave this hellhole as soon as I can!’ He yells back, as his father looks at him stunned.
‘You dare talk to me like that?’ He just rolled his eyes in response.
‘I give you this life Bryce, you should be thankful for it!’ His voice boomed through the room, as he notes that people will hear this conversation but, he didn’t care.
His eyebrows furrowed in anger,
‘What life? Tell me what is this life you keep on mentioning about ?’ He paused before continuing.
‘You stole from people, you lie to them. You stole their lives, they lose everything because of what you did! And, who gets the blame? Me!’ Bryce pointed to himself letting the anger rolled out.
‘You know nothing, boy!’
Bryce lets out a scoff,
'Yeah, right?! I am not stupid, this life you had been giving me, it was never a gift. It’s just a stop that I had to go through before I leave this place forever’
Both of them stopped as they heard the door creaked open, revealing Keiki who is rubbing her eyes.
‘Dad, Bryce?’ Her soft voice was heard through the doorway making both of them quiet.
‘Hi sweetie, what happened?’ His dad’s voice transformed, as Bryce makes his way to Keiki.
‘I heard screaming, and… are you fighting with Bryce?’ She asked as her eyes gaze into Bryce’s making him soft.
‘No…we were just talking…’ His father replied as an attempt to convince her but, Bryce knows that she wasn’t convinced.
Bryce walks up to Keiki and took her by the hand,
‘Let’s go Keiki, I’m going to take you to bed.’ His voice made Keiki smile as both of them walk away from the room.
The walk was short, as Bryce accompanies Keiki to her room. They walked inside as Bryce gaze onto the spacious room. The walls were pink, as there were toys every corner of the room including a huge play-house that his parents bought for Keiki. He just shook her head, as he felt a tug on his shirt.
He glances and saw Keiki already in the bed, as her eyes filled with worried. A kid supposed to have fun at her age, not worrying over the adults.
'You okay kiddo?' His voice is soft as he lays the question out.
‘I just…I hate it when you fight with dad.’
Bryce chuckles at the statement,
‘It’s just… hard you know. Dad is different and, we just… have different heads.’ Bryce gestures to his head making Keiki giggle as he ruffles his hair as an attempt to calm her down.
The smile on her face, making him happy. He wasn't very close to his parents, but.. with Keiki. It's different, somehow it felt like an escape from the real world when he was invited to one of her playtimes.
‘Will you and dad will ever be okay?’ Her eyes hopeful as Bryce went quiet, don’t know what to answer as he didn’t know the answer himself.
Bryce just nods, without any words coming out. He didn’t want to give her false hope, knowing one day he will not be here to watch her grow up.
'I love you, Bryce.' Keiki said as she pulls him into a small hug, as Bryce returns it happily,
‘I love you too kiddo.’ He replies as he ruffles her hair once more before he retired for the night.
----------------------
It was years ago, as it replays in his mind. It was one of the ‘good’ memories he had whilst being at home. After he left for college, he never looked back. He didn’t regret it, but…somehow he wished that his life was happier not for the sake of himself, but for Keiki.
His apartment was in view, as he quickens his steps up the stairs instead of the elevator. It was a short commute, but he felt himself feeling nervous by the sudden rush. He hasn’t seen Keiki in years, and… he didn’t know what to expect. He wished her a happy birthday 6 months ago. But, there were no replies.
From the corner of his eyes, he saw a figure leaning against the door. Bryce quickly makes his way, his steps quicken as Keiki's head perked up at the sound. A small smile appeared on his face, as he did a quick look at her. She has grown up, and there no signs of hurt anywhere. He sighs in relief, and he stops at the door. He was about to say something, but… he shook his head before unlocking the door.
A new future that has been presented to him, and he will try his very best to be there for her. Honestly, Bryce didn't know how to feel but…somehow fate knows better than him. The fact that he had missed seeing her and this felt like a sign for him. He silently hopes that maybe they can be close once more like before. Hopefully.
THE END.
A/N: I hope all of you liked it! I am very nervous to post this, but... I tried my best! Thank you for reading! 🧡🧡

It was the night before Keiki’s birthday and, Casey decides on throwing a Disney pre-party celebration for her with Bryce. Keiki was thrilled when she delivers the news as she engulfed them in a tight hug. Casey and Bryce were in the kitchen as they get the food ready… by, ready it means… they place their take-out orders into a nice plate and a cake from the bakery down the street for Keiki. Meanwhile, the birthday girl herself is getting the shows ready as she collects every pillow Bryce ever owned and place herself shotgun in front of the television with a blanket wrap around her body. Casey lets out a laugh as she made her way to the spot followed by Bryce from behind.
They placed the food in front of them consists of take-out from Donahue’s and a mini chocolate cake from the local bakery nearby. Keiki smiled at the sight of the food, feeling excited for the night.
‘I am so so excited! I have pre-picked all the movies we are gonna watch!’ Keiki said happily as she browses the Disney+ catalogs for all the movies.
‘Hey, slow down there! Do we have any say in this?’ Bryce said with a serious tone that made Casey laugh.
‘Nope, it's my birthday Bryce! My choice!’ Keiki said excitedly as she settles in her seat with the remote in her hands.
‘We need to surrender Bryce, it’s the birthday girl’s wishes after all.’ Casey backs away slowly making both of the Lahela’s siblings laugh at her.
Bryce surrenders as he raised both of his arms as if he was arrested. But, they both get themselves comfortable once more. Keiki is suddenly lost in thought, as both Casey and Bryce looked at her weirdly.
She was brought back into reality as a small smile crept on her face, she looked at both Bryce and Casey with new happiness inside of her.
‘I think… let’s pick something together.’ She gestured towards the tv making both of them with eyes filled with confusion.
‘It’s okay Keiki, you can choose!’ Casey encourages her, but… she shook her head with a suddenly huge smile on her face.
‘I insist… it would be much fun to pick something together.’ Keiki said happily as both of them smiled at her.
They ended up picking ‘Toy Story 3’ as it was one of Casey’s favorite movies growing up. Bryce and Keiki are debating on Lotso being a villain, and Keiki won in the end (Or… he already knows the answer, but giving the chance for victory to the birthday girl) ! Casey laughs at their antics, as she happily watched her favorite childhood movie with two of her favorite people in the world. She paused the movie mid-way as she lit the candles for Keiki.
‘Its cake time as its finally….midnight!’ Casey glances at the clock above the television as she gestured at the cake that has three candles on it. The candles lit the dimmed room, as Keiki straighten herself to blow the candle.
‘Make a wish Keiki!’ Bryce exclaims happily, as Keiki grins.
There was silence as Keiki made her wish, before blowing out the candle. Bryce and Casey let out a whoop, as she bows in return.
‘So, what did you wish for?’ Bryce nudges her little sister, as Casey resumes the movie.
‘Not telling!’ She said as she stuck her tongue out at him.
Bryce gives up, as he lays back as they continue to watch the movie. It was almost the end of the film, as Casey starts to cry.
‘This part gets to me, I am so sorry.’ Casey said, as she took a napkin and wipe the tears away as the toys are in a mission to go back to Andy’s room.
Several minutes later, Both Casey and Keiki were watching with full concentration as they heard sniffles coming from the other direction.
They turned their heads and saw Bryce sniffling and a few tears coming out from his eyes, making both of them laugh as Bryce turns red from embarrassment. Keiki felt her tears falling as well, as Andy leaves for college leaving Woody and the gang behind.
‘That scene… Andy and Woody. Why?!’ Bryce lets out a huff as his tears started to flow slowly.
Casey smiled, as she wrapped her arms around him pulling him into an embrace.
‘Its okay Bryce, let it all out.’ She held him a few moments before, he pulled away feeling composed than before.
‘I am okay, and… no one should ever know about this! I have a reputation.’ Bryce said with a serious tone in his voice.
‘No promises Lahela.’ Casey said as both Keiki and herself high-fived at his request.
After the movie had entered its credits, the three of them are finishing a few of the take-out as Casey gets the cake ready to be put in the fridge. After everything is done, the three of them sat down silently as the credits rolled in the background.
‘I know its jinxing to reveal a wish, but… I wish for more times like this. It feels good, and… it really feels like family.’ Keiki’s voice is soft, as she lunged forward and pulled Casey into a sudden hug.
Casey was taken aback by the whole situation but, she didn't push the hug away. She hugs her back, as Bryce smiles knowingly a few feet away looking at them with a certain gentleness in his eyes.
‘What was that for?’ Casey asked after Keiki pulled herself away from her.
‘It’s a thank you… You are like the sister I never had .. and I felt very lucky that Bryce decides to do something smart once in his life.’  Keiki replies with light in her eyes as she felt the happiest right now eventhough, he earns a glare from Bryce who immediately stifles into a laugh as he was pulled into a bone-crushing hug from Keiki herself . Bryce ruffles her hair as he returned the hug. It felt good to hug Keiki, as both of them haven’t had the best relationship with everything that went down with their parents and the fact, the last time Bryce had seen her was before he left for college as he was trying to find an escape from his family. But, at this moment… being a big brother to Keiki felt amazing. He is glad that, he has the chance to reconnect with her. Bryce glances up and saw Casey smiling at the tender moment before her.
Bryce smiles back at her, as he makes a mental note to thank Casey for the encouragement she had given to him.
They pulled away from the hug as Keiki felt herself getting emotional from all the love she is receiving.
‘I am glad we got to spend more time together Bryce.’
He ruffles her hair once more, before replying.
‘Right back at you sis.’
Keiki beams at the two of them as she muttered to herself,
‘Best birthday ever!’
---------------------------
After clearing up the whole mess from their mini celebration with Keiki. Bryce and Casey settled themselves on the couch, as Bryce offered Keiki the room, courtesy of being the birthday girl.
It was almost 2 in the morning as Casey and Bryce finally settled on the couch-bed. They took the pillows from earlier, as both of them gets themselves comfortable. Bryce turns towards her, as their faces were a few inches away from each other.
‘Hey.’
‘Hi.’ Casey felt flushed, as he gazes into her eyes.
‘Thank you for everything Cas.’ Bryce said as his eyes softening.
‘I didn’t do anything Bryce, it was all you.’ She replied at his statement, making him shook his head.
‘You did a lot. From the moment Keiki stepped into my life once more, you were there for me. Thank you.’ Bryce said softly as he places a kiss on her forehead.
‘Both of you mean a lot to me, and… I would have helped either way Bryce.’ Casey stated as she nestled into the crook of his neck.
Bryce wrapped his arms around her, as they stood silently that way.
‘I love you, Casey.’ He said quietly, as he held her in his arms placing another kiss on her forehead making her glance at him.
She replies it with a sweet peck, before getting herself to sleep as they had an early day at the hospital. After a few moments, Bryce lets out a chuckle as he heard small snores from her. He smiles happily at the sight before falling into a deep slumber as well. At that moment, he felt happy. Happier than he ever felt before and, he wouldn’t change it for anything.
He is aware that life can change in a moment from his job, but for the night.... he knows that everything is perfect and moving ahead, with Woody’s words from the movie,
‘You’‘ll be fine, partner.’ and it’s gonna be fine after all for Bryce, Keiki and Casey.
THE END.

His confidence was a part of his attractiveness. The way he would walk into room with his head high, the way his hair is brushed perfectly; although it is a mess when she ruffles it but he didn’t really mind. His beautiful brown eyes was mesmarizing as all of the hospital staff would somehow stop and stare, at his presence. He was the equivalent of Beyonce walking in a room. He would make a grand entrance, the one that he would silently sweep the crowd away with his own wits.
Casey was the opposite of the man, as she grew up with shyness in herself. Every day she would try to improve herself, to be more confident and more likable. Sometimes, she often hate herself, as she were never be able to stand up for herself. The life she grew up in was filled with comparisons, where she felt like her life isn’t enough. Growing up, she would sometimes feel insecure as she often questions herself, if she was ever going to be good enough to become a doctor. She is good enough, even better than she expects. But, when it comes to love. The insecurities in her life appeared once more, leaving a room in her heart as she watched other couples are happily married whilst she vows to herself as she would be alone until the end of time.
‘Opposites attract’, the way to describe them. Somehow, their opposites had managed to fill the missing piece in their own hearts. The vulnerability from him filled the void of her heart, whilst his confidence were reflect to her as they become close. Closer than friends, but never more. Sometimes, she would wonder if the feelings they had were just a ploy or it’s the real deal.
The answer was given to her, on her very own birthday. As he surprised her with a picnic on top of  a secluded hill where it has become their escape from the real world. They would often lay down the blankets over the hill, as they discussed future events, open their hearts towards each other, a place where they would call it their very own heaven where the three words were exchanged.
Since that day, they had become an item, as they would shared private kisses in the on-call room every now and then, or the other alternative which consists of amount of hugs from every now and then. She cant help but smiled at the sight of him, but… the happiness followed by the amount of insecurities she carried through her back. They had a talk about it, as they discussed about their positions, as their hearts sings in joy over the new happiness in their life.
They would often crossed paths as they worked at the same hospital, filling the void with small gestures. A wink, a kiss, and somehow a small squeeze of the hands silently as they were heading to the same location. Her friends seems to notice the change in the atmosphere, as they felt a happier vibe from them.
Happiness always comes with a price, as there were whispers among the darken halls. The words they said, were painful. Somehow, it felt like she was in the eye of the public where she could be judge.
The tears were threatening to fall down, as they made its way to the pavement tile below. But, it stopped at the sight of his from across the room.
My baby's fit like a daydream
In her eyes, he was not the confident guy all the nurses would gush about, instead; it’s the one and only Bryce Lahela that she admires. His eyes stopped at the sight of her, as a small smile started to appear on the corner of his mouth as he continue the discussion with a fellow surgeon.
Walking with his head down
He pat the back of the fellow surgeon, as he slowly made his way to her. His head falling down as the attempt to hide the tinted pink that appeared on his cheeks. His attempt had failed miserably as he was teased by Elijah countless times, but it never stopped him.
I'm the one he's walking to
The short commute was met with a hug, as he pulled her into an embrace as the visible tears can be seen by his own eyes. She held him, as if the next moment he would vanish anytime soon. She would buried her face into the crook of his neck, as the tension from her back slowly rolled down leaving her body. After they pulled away, Bryce whispers into her ear.
‘I love you’ making her blush, as the other nurses were looking at them sceptically as Casey showcased a wide smile. Without hesitation, she placed her lips on his as the group of nurses lets out a wide gasp capturing the attention of the hospital staff. They pulled away after a while, with a questionable look from his face.
‘What was that for?’
‘I think, It’s my turn to be the bold one here.’ Casey replied as they interlocked their fingers with one another making their way to the cafeteria for their break.
So call it what you want, yeah
Call it what you want too.
Casey felt herself feeling the confidence in her, as she walks hand-in-hand with Bryce finally showcasing her affections in public. She glanced at him, as her eyes fall onto him. He was the person who broke down her own walls of insecurities, the one who made her feel that she has a place in this world despite her dark thoughts. His eyes stopped at her, as his hands squeezed hers followed by a small smile of pure happiness was shown. In that very moment, she wouldn’t trade it for the world as she realized she had found her own, lover, soulmate and best friend in one. Honestly, she wouldn’t have it any other way.
THE END.
A/N #2 : Thank you for reading it! I hope all of you enjoyed it. 😊

It never occurs to him that one day, his sister will be living with him whilst he tries to survive his life at Edenbrook. But, after that day; it felt like an emotional rollercoaster for both of them. Readjusting, reliving old memories and reconnecting to each other. He never knew that he missed her that much, and Keiki didn't realize that being there felt like she was doing something right once in a while.
It is weeks after their meeting, and things are looking up for both of them. Bryce felt much better knowing that Keiki is safe, as he is learning to be her brother from now on. Or, as Casey would put it; be her best friend that he was once before.
-------------------
Keiki and Casey are at his apartment as they planned on this special day; Bryce's birthday. Casey had already planned an advanced celebration in mind for him but, both herself and Keiki especially Keiki wanted to celebrate something for him. Casey had slept over at the Lahela’s today, as both of them did some huge planning for it.
After long hours of planning and browsing through 8 million pins on Pinterest for the last week. They finally started their journey on making it the best birthday for him.
-------------------
Casey and Keiki are hustling on buying confetti streamers and everything needed for a birthday for Bryce. Both of them were enthusiastic to make it happen as it was Keiki's first celebration with Bryce for years.
'We need a chocolate cake!' Keiki exclaimed as Casey let out a chuckle at her excitement.
Keiki ran forward and reached the bakery aisle where there were various cakes in the display making both of them gasped in awe at the number of delicious delicacies that were in front of them.
‘Let’s get all of em!’ An evil look in Keiki's eyes, as Casey felt her stomach grumble in hunger as she hadn't had breakfast even though she would remind her patients to not forget the most important meal of the day.
‘….I called dibs on the rainbow cake!' Casey leaps forward as she had her hand in the rainbow sponge cake that was calling her name as Keiki ran to the other end of the aisle picking up three different types of cakes varied from vanilla, chocolate, and cheesecake.
They meet up at the center of the aisle, as both of them let out a laugh. The looks on the customers who are shaking their heads in disapproval made Casey a bit nervous, as she gets a bit too overwhelmed by the sudden looks. Keiki remembers small info that Bryce told her about Casey, as she immediately places the cakes in their cart and gives Casey a small squeeze on her hand, the same gesture that Bryce would do. It calmed her nerves before both of them smiled at each other. It somehow was a bonding moment, as at that moment Keiki felt like the sister she never had and little did she know; Keiki felt the same way about her as well. They proceed on getting all the stuff needed for Bryce's surprise party before getting lunch.
--------------------
After a huge number of supplies and food has been brought in their possession, they made it with a lot of time to prepare. There were foods to be served, confetti to be hung, and all the presents needed to be hid as well. Much much later, after three quarters of the home had been covered with confetti, they decided to take a break before a dreaded task was heading their way: blowing balloons. Casey was never a fan of balloons except hot air balloons. Both of them sank themselves on the couch that she knew all too well, and all the memories placed a small smile on her face.
She turns her attention to Keiki, who is relaxing as well. But, Casey figures there is a guarded look in her eyes. Somehow, something there is still bothering her. She doesn't wants to pry on their business, but… it feels like she needs a friend. A sister, or maybe someone who isn’t Bryce.
‘Do you think he will like it?’ She starts the conversation after finally figuring out what to say.
Her eyes falls at the decorations around the house, a small smile appears on her face.
‘I think so, his last birthday party back home was before he left for college… ‘ she pauses a bit, somehow an attempt to recover the memory from the back of her mind.
‘It was his 18th, and I remember he got into a fight the night before with dad. And, I feel bad for him. We ended up having a small celebration of our own, at the kitchen with some of our maids in the house. The maids helped me in surprising him with a chocolate cake, and we did celebrate it with a marathon of cartoons.’ A smile appeared on her face, as she was sucked into the memory of it all.
‘That sounds lovely Keiki.’ She places her hands on her shoulder, giving her an encouraging nod.
‘Thanks, it was years ago… it’s one of those days y’know.’ She shrugged it out but, the environment between them suddenly became tense, as she slowly raise her guard back up once more, somehow a shield was placed in front of her.
There was a silence between them,
‘How do you feel seeing him again?’ Casey constructed her sentence slowly, as the nerves inside of her were screaming loudly.
‘I… don’t know. It was happening so fast, and… I don’t know where to go. I always wanted to see him again, but he had told them about not returning back. I thought he was exaggerating but, I never was ready to not be with him. We faced our whole lives together, and one day… walking down the large hallways, it doesn’t feel right. Coming here wasn't the smartest way to escape but… it felt like I was destined to come.’ Her head dropped, somehow an attempt to hide herself from embarrassment.
‘Hey… it’s okay. You don’t have to feel bad about it.’ Casey reassures her, as they sat in silence once more.
‘I know, I know… I feel helpless at home, and the first thought I have was to see Bryce again. It’s silly honestly…’ She shrugs it off again.
‘It’s not silly to miss your own brother Keiki… I admit, I never even knew about you before our unfortunate meet at the front of the door.. which I am still embarrassed about..’ Her cheeks went red remembering the comment she left before at his front door that was a scarred memory for her. Keiki lets out a small laugh, as she somehow knows what Casey is talking about.
‘Anyways- what I mean to say is… I think he is happy to have you here aswell.’ She stated earning a questionable look from Keiki’s face.
‘Seriously?’
Casey nods, with a huge smile on her face.
‘Yeah, he seems much happier. Somehow, I can sense that both of you are close before.’
Keiki was smiling as she felt much at ease, from the revelation that somehow she didn’t know she was looking for. She stood up, happily with the conversation as they continue on getting the house ready for one Bryce Lahela.
Casey was about to move towards the balloons, before Keiki stops her mid-way earning a surprise look on her face.
‘Keiki, what’s up?’
She was silent, somehow searching for the right words.
‘Thank you.’
‘Happy to help, now all of these balloons ain’t gonna blow themselves!’ She gestures at the balloons that were scattered on the apartment floor.
A laugh escapes from the younger Lahela, as they proceed on the task. A sense of calm overcoming herself. A revelation she didn’t know she needed before.
--------------------
It was finally 6 p.m. as they are finally done putting up the decorations, as the apartment somehow looks homey and fun at the same time! Both Keiki and Casey both threw themselves on the couch as the exhaustion finally caught up to them, it was a long and tiring day for both of them. But, the results were amazing so they didn’t mind at all.
The sound of the door opening caught both of their attention, as Bryce struts in with a surprising look on his face. His eyes gaze around the apartment, as there were confetti and decorations which are in the right amount. Both Keiki and Casey bolt upright from the couch as they were engulfed into one of Bryce's hugs.
After a while of hugging, both of them shouted.
‘HAPPY BIRTHDAY BRYCE!’
Bryce’s smile was as wide as the moment where she saw him doing what he loves, the smile that came from spending time with his friends and the smile that makes her heart skip a beat as he is always the one who made her smile. Both Keiki and Casey look at each other in satisfaction, as they did it. It was a difficult task but they pulled through together, and it feels amazing.
The small celebration between the three of them went well, as there were thoughts that had crossed his mind. There were somehow like a family, and… honestly, he felt excited about what the future might hold for the three of them.
As Casey lit up the candles on all of the cakes that they bought, he paused thinking of a wish that he wanted for this year. His eyes fall on both of them, Casey Valentine; the person who has been there for him from the very beginning and the person who is still here despite his past, and his estranged sister; Keiki Lahela, who came on his door. The person who was once considered his best friend years ago, as they grew apart. The fear of his parents barging on his front door was visible, as he has a hunch on them coming to bring Keiki back home. But, right now; it was his moment. The moment that he never had as a child, happiness despite being surrounded by an enormous amount of luxury
He blew out all the candles, as he silently makes a wish which earning a double pair of eyebrows raised at him. Bryce lets out a laugh as he proceeds on cutting the cake. The three of them sat on the floor as they enjoyed the refreshments that were set by both Keiki and Casey which consists of a lot of finger food and a huge amount of party snacks that were already made, as the lack of cooking skills by Casey.
-----------------
The day is starting to get darker as Bryce and Keiki are cleaning up the mess as Casey is tidying at the front. They were settling on the dishes, as Keiki paused.
Bryce noticed the sudden movement as he stops working on whatever’s left in the sink.
‘I know that look Keiki, it’s the look when you didn’t get to play your toys years ago.’ Bryce teased her, as she punches his arm lightly, a laugh escapes her lips.
‘Years ago, I hated you for what you did. I hated you for leaving home, and I hated you for leaving….me behind.’
Bryce didn’t say anything, as he understood how she felt. When he left for college before, he promised to come back for her. He didn’t keep his promised, and Keiki is justified to feel that way.
‘Being in school, I realized. Understood, how you felt. I understand why you and dad would always quarrel, the way you hated there. And, honestly… I am so sorry for lashing out for you not being here for me.’ Keiki lets out a sigh as Bryce place his arms on her shoulder.
‘You don’t have to be sorry kiddo, I left you there. Sometimes, I wished our lives were much better than what we have been through.’ Bryce reveals as he felt himself reminiscing old times, the happier times.
‘…I think a happier life might lead us on a different path Bryce.’ She raised her eyebrows knowingly gesturing towards Casey with a smirk on her face who is helping them tidying up the leftovers. Bryce smiles at the sight of her.
‘Yeah, maybe. But, one thing I regret the most is, not being able to beat up the kid who pushed you years ago. Nobody messes with my sister.’ Bryce stated with a rage in his eyes, as Keiki shook her head.
‘You’re funny when you are scary, you know that?’
‘It’s one of my specialties, actually.’ Bryce replies with a hint of cockiness in his voice.
Their conversation was cut short, as Casey calls them out for the gift giving session that they planned for Bryce. Both of the Lahela siblings happily walked back to the living room, as the smiles on their faces stays that way for the rest of the day.
--------------------
After the celebration ended, Bryce and Keiki stood together at the window overlooking the crowded city of Boston where it has become their new home.
She was lost in thought as her eyes stared at the cityscapes beyond her, it wasn't Hawaii anymore. But, the fear of her past creeping up to her was somehow still visible.
Bryce stood there, trying to catch up with past events. Everything was new as somethings were meant to be fixed once more. He pulled her into a brotherly hug, as Keiki tries her best to get out of his grasp. It wasn't a common form of affection for them, but its something new.
The revelation as the past came colliding once more bringing them together after years and years of being apart.
'I am glad to have you here  kid.'
'I am glad to be here aswell.' She smiles as Bryce ruffles her hair a special gesture for the Lahela siblings that made her laugh.
They don’t know what’s gonna happen tomorrow or the next month, but hey. They wouldn’t sweat it much since life has a funny way of making it work and both Bryce and Keiki have lots of moments to look forward to and they wouldn’t have it any other way.
THE END
