Bob Ross.
Well, you know what they say. When the going gets tough, the tough get comfortable, make themselves a warm brew (like herbal tea or hot chocolate, par exemple), and snuggle down with lights dimmed and their faces illuminated by laptop screen glow. Here, they sit and watch one of #bob ross' many classic episodes, like Mountain Summit, or Valley View, and enjoy the show's blissfully 80s theme music, simplistic décor, Mr Ross' liberally-buttoned shirt, and soft, yet gravely, timbre. For 30 minutes, they enjoy Mr Ross painting a landscape scene: a lake, a sunset, a mountain. And it is after this point, and only after, that the tough get going.

Is it possible to paint like Bob Ross using acrylics and synthetic brushes? I know his technique is designed for oils and natural bristles, but can a similar effect be achieved with cheaper materials? Does wet-on-wet still work with acrylic paint? Can you still blend colors on the canvas? I want to get into painting, but oils are prohibitively expensive at this time (even the lower quality beginner paints are like $7 per small tube, $15 per big). Maybe for Christmas I'll splurge, but right now I want to know if the cheap stuff is worth my time. You can do fantastic stuff with acrylics, I know that, but I am specifically trying to learn to paint like Bob Ross, so if they won't work for that purpose I can't get them. How fast do acrylics dry?

Yesterday was amazing! My new sleepie pill/antidepressant is actually working as intended mostly, I had a zillion spoon, got so much done, felt amazing about myself.
So of course last night my sleep demon was back on its bullshit & I woke up with an overdid it/underhydrated headache & all I can muster the enthusiasm for is a couch day with the dogs & Bob Ross.
