midnight surprise - jeon wonwoo

happy wonwoo day <3

you walked towards wonwoo's apartment armed with a small smile and a cupcake. it was going to hit midnight in a few minutes and you wanted to surprise him - even though this was actually a really last minute impromptu plan.

you walked up the stairs to his apartment. pulling out your phone to check the time, and the time and the time had just hit 12 midnight. you quickly texted him happy birthday but you weren't sure that he'll see your text. if he doesn't end up seeing it, your plan would be ruined, but thankfully he does and you sigh in relief when you see the typing bubbles appear and you quickly text him that there's a special delivery at the door and he needs to get it now. he reads it and you lean you ear towards the door, trying to listen to any sounds of movement or footsteps. you try to hide the excitement on your face as you quickly light the candle on the cupcake and stand ready at the door.

wonwoo opens the door and you give him the biggest grin as you softly sing him happy birthday, but the poor boy was just so sleepy it takes him 30 seconds before he registers what's happening before a smile forms on his face. you walk in, closing the door behind you. "but it's not my birthday yet, it's tomorrow", he say his voice low, laced with sleepiness. "it is tomorrow genius", you tell and it clicks in his mind that it's probably midnight.

"make a wish!", you add and he closes his eyes, a small smile on his lips as he blows out the candle, darkness engulfing you both. but the moonlight streaming in is enough for us both to see each other. you take a step forward, finding wonwoo's arm and holding it, to which he pulls me closer, a hand wrapping around your waist.

"here, take a bite", you say as you hold out the cupcake for him to bite. he takes a small bite and you take one too. the cupcake is really good and soon we've both finished it in two more bites.

"happy birthday", you tell again, pecking his lips. "thank you", he says softly. "i really didn't expect this", he adds, a hit of amusement in his voice. "me either, this was a really last minute idea", you confess and he chuckles softly.

a yawn escapes him. "sleepy?", you prompt and he nods. "sorry i must've woken you up", you add remembering how confused he looked when he had opened the door. he shakes his head at my words indicating it was okay. "it's fine, i just happened to hear my phone ping at the right time, i don't think your plan would've worked, or were you planning to sneak into my apartment?", he asked, teasing me.

"haha, yeah i would've climbed up the window like a creep and scared the shit out of you", you reply, earning another soft chuckle from him.

"stay the night?", he asks and you smile at wonwoo and nod. you both cuddle in bed, wonwoo's embrace warm and comforting.

i've spent the entire day thinking of words to write in my little notes app, trying my hardest to come up with beautiful words to write for you on your special day. but boy oh boy, i failed to come up with anything except this mess of a letter. words are not enough (as i've said countless of times) to describe how much i adore, love and look up to you, wonwoo. you have been an integral part of my life, you've carved out your own spot on my mind and heart, and became someone who's like a part of me.

thank you for reminding us to slow down for whenever we feel like the world is about to swallow us whole; for showing us that there's always courage that lies within. thank you for being strong, for showing us that being true to ourselves, for showing us that crying doesn't mean we're weak. it means that we are strong.

wonwoo just radiates love and possitivity. he's just so pure and kind hearted. i hope the universe treats him extra kindly 'cause he deserves all the love this world could offer.

words aren't exactly my thing. and when it comes to wonwoo, words seems to leave my brain. it becomes empty, almost like an empty jar. words really aren't enough to express how much i love wonwoo. i just hope i'd be able to somehow show him someday.
