"Hey there!"
A smooth but playful voice called, drawing your attention from the portable skillet in front of you.
Looking up, you're met with a very tall man with white hair, a customer surely. However, your attention is drawn to his face, or rather, to the black blindfold that covered his eyes and forehead. Even if you couldn't see half of his face, you could still tell that he was quite handsome.
Suddenly though, a hand appears in front of your eyes and snaps a few times, breaking you from your observation. The man had leaned forward while you were distracted, his face only inches away from your own now, his nose nearly touching your own.
"Ah! S‐sorry sir! Um, what would you like? There's a wide selection of goods to choose from."
You flinch backward, quickly trying to correct your unprofessional behavior by offering the man the usual customer greeting.
The blindfolded man lets out an attractive chuckle as he places a hand on his hip; you swear you could hear him mutter a quiet 'cute'. He then turns his attention to the medium-sized menu card that you had sat to the side; perusing his options. Though it seems like he didn't need to look long as he quickly turned his attention back to you.
"Right, I'll take everything."
He spoke with a curt nod, his voice still playful but with an underlying seriousness.
You stare at him for a while; unable to process quite what he meant. What did he mean by everything? One of everything or literally everything?
"Uh... One of everything?"
You asked him cautiously, becoming nervous at the thought of having your stall picked clean so early on in the day.
The man tilts his head at you, his smile shrinking a bit, and you can only assume that he must think that you're a bit slow on the uptake. But just as quickly as it shrunk, his smile grew wide again and his chipper attitude presented itself even more prominently.
"Nope! Everything you've got! Oh, I'll take your number too while I'm at it!"
He chirped, loosely crossing his arms across his chest as he leaned forward slightly, towering over you.
You feel your face heat up at his words; you've never met someone so bold before. Quickly, you turn around and bag up all of the inventory you have so far today. Ending up with six bags, you pull out a pen and turn back to him, seeing him leaning on the stall counter.
"Here you are sir; your total is ¥59,610.80. Both cash and card are acceptable."
You told him as you handed him his bags; gently grabbing one of his wrists.
The man tilts his head again, seemingly forgetting his earlier flirt, but you only lift the pen that you had grabbed. Pulling his wrist toward you, you write your number down on the heel of his palm; face warming even further at the fact that you're committing to it.
"M‐my number, you asked for it earlier so..."
You stuttered, looking away from him in embarrassment.
He chuckles, standing up to his full height and putting his free hand in his pocket. An attractive smirk spreads across his face as he turns to leave.
"I'll definitely call you some time, you're too cute~"

Suguru Geto x fem! Reader
Warnings: angst, teen pregnancy, grief, slight mention of mature content
Tumblr media
blankley staring at the celling of your dimely lit room. The soft snores of the baby beside you fill the silence as you attempt to make out shapes that stay hidden in the dark.
It makes you think of how Suguru always saw the things you couldn't, not just because of his sorcerer abilities but his general perception of the world around him.
You loved that about him.
He knew how to pick up on things that seemingly weren't there.
You never completely understood the whole sorcerer thing. You remember the feeling of confusion in your heart after you first learnt he was going to jujutsu tech for high school.
You worried for the boy who you've seemingly spent your whole life with being without you and you without him.
Remembering how he held you tight, calm and sure that youd be okay, kissing your forehead and pinching your cheeks, with his signature grin and a playful remarks.
He made you realise he would in fact be alright at his new school, sealing it off with a vow that he'd be careful with curses.
With that you found ways to make due with the distance, his new friend Gojo would help sneak him out. For dates in Harajuku and make outs in the school.
Slowly though, you think of the transition from day visits to spending the nights exploring the other, beginning a new chapter of your relationship.
As each others firsts, feather light kisses filled with nervous giggles and whispered I love yous, he made it beautiful every time you did it
You knew eventually the magic would turn into something that would catch up to you.
You remember buying the test and calling him, crying telling him how you didnt want to do any of it alone, to which he promised, you would never have to.
He kept to his word
Even with his head bowed as both sets of parents raged at him for your reckless behavior. He held your hand, squeezing it, wordlessly telling you he loved you
You remember how he and his friends documented the pregnancy, leaving messages for when the unborn baby arrived. Uncle Satoru, gathering footage for you two.
As the day came nearer your doctor commanded bedrest until delivery. Suguru grew anxious, chewing at his lip as the doctor spoke. You knew how he tended to spiral under stress, he always preferred to deal with shit alone and push you out until he was ready.
You knew he'd be ready eventually
You never expected it to get too bad
Even when he was visibly exhausted, dark circles under his eyes, he hadn't been eating, your Suguru was doing it alone. "I'm just tired" he'd say dejected, absentmindedly kissing your forehead when he'd come visit your bedside.
Maybe you should've done more
When you found out about what he had done to his parents. Your body froze,a denial and grief, mixed with unmatched confusion seeped into your senses.
That night, you heard something fall in the nursery, you abandoned your bed, with sore feet and navigated to the room.
There he stood, peering over the empty crib. You didn't realise you were shaking, and the source of your fear; the man you love.
" Sugu...?" not so much a question and your voice barely a whisper.
He slowly approached you, touching your belly, softly caressing the skin, kneeling to kiss it.
"you still love me"
"Suguru please..." warm tears slip down your cheeks, you begged him not to leave, you pleaded that it's a bad dream. He mumbled something about his "off spring" before he left
You cant help but think that's why he spared you, the baby in your belly binding you to him
But anyways that was the last time you saw him, before Gojo told you everything. Suguru had more going on than you knew
Your newborn son in your arms, you were alone Suguru wasnt there , exhaustion and a strange feeling weighing your heart.
You stare at the ceiling tearing up at the memories, you hated when you thought about him, you always spiral into the entire story. Leaving you here, puffy eyes and small wishing he was here.
He promised to be here

Lolita fashion: A guide for beginners and love letter to seasoned Lolitas (Fashion guide part ll)
Tumblr media
Hello everyone!! Few days ago I had made a guide for people interested and doing gyaru fashion (interested people please visit my account to read about it <3) moving on I was intrigued and ready to take on the world of Lolita fashion as well, I hope this guides helps newer people and makes other old followers of this amazing fashion culture realize that it is all about fun and feeling pretty. Some may agree with this and some may not either way I am posting this <3
(Kindly please stop sending d#ath threads regarding this post. Kindly also refrain from sending comments saying I deserve those threaths please 🙏🏼)
My guides start from here on. So as a lot of people know, this culture of fashion was started by taking inspirations from Rococco and Victorian era. Over the years this subculture of Japanese fashion has definitely evolved and this subculture has given birth to many sub styles like most famous being sweet Lolita, gothic Lolita and hime Lolita.
So now that you know the gist of this style let me educate you further that the reason Lolita fashion exists is purely just for fun. People especially women wanted to feel that elegance and olden time beauty and dressed up in Lolita just for fun!! So no. 1 rule of Lolita is to have fun. Enjoy what you wear and buy.
Yes, when you first begin it is necessary that you browse through the summary but make sure to ONLY browse through the history of Lolita fashion. Never pay too much attention towards rules of Lolita because again just like gyaru fashion it was and has always been foreigners who police others and are way too anal about rules when as a matter of fact the whole reason Lolita and gyaru existed was to have fun! Of course but only gyaru had a backstory of opposing with stereotypes of women in Japan.
I am here to tell you that I have lived in Japan during the hype of Lolita and gyaru (also being an avid follower of both fashion culture since the age of 4) and having talking with foreigners and locals I suggest you to only LIKE ONLY listen to locals because they truly know what's up. My guides are filled with my experience and what they have told me.
So let's talk about rules like lace and materials and shit. What I have been told and have been doing my life is that pick any lace design that you feel pretty in because in the end even back then Lolita fashion magazines and shows would only tell you what a typical Lolita would wear like poofy dress and small details like pretty wigs and such but people in streets be it Harajuku or Shibuya or etc etc didn't follow these rules themselves and they were covered in latest Lolita trends from head to toe.
The magazines and such only give you an idea of what you can do or typical image of a Lolita fashion follower. That doesn't mean you have to do exactly that. Things like "stop wearing that" "your lace is ugly" "wow you purchased dress from Amazon? Fuck you" "that dress quality sucks you are NOT a real Lolita" is all doing of foreigner Lolita fashion followers.
I am so sorry if you ever encountered any of these people but Lolita girlies in Japan will never harass you like this.
Plus buying stuff from Amazon is OKAY because even though these days there are many affordable Lolita dresses and accessories, it is okay to still look for options and I understand that some people don't have budget and just because you are tight on budget doesn't mean you should be left out. YOU ALSO DESERVE TO FEEL PRETTY! Amazon might not be authentic if that's what you can afford atm then go for it please, enjoy and have fun because you were to meet other Japanese Lolitas they will say things like "wow I didn't know these days Amazon sold such good quality Lolita dresses" never feel guilty for buying off brand.
What people don't tell you is that these days even brands break some of the rules from Lolita fashion and honestly if the household brands break them then you also shouldn't feel bad about messing up. I just want Lolita fashion culture to be welcoming and I don't want beginners to be afraid and I don't want old members to feel the need to be always classic authentic.
Even the queen and ambassador of foreign affairs kawaii aka president of Japan Lolita Association Misako Aiko who has been doing Lolita fashion for 25 years also mixes and matches from different fashion and breaks so called rules like poofy dress shape, owning few dresses with no laces, hair usually styled in a simple way, not always wearing a blouse or a head wear etc etc.
In conclusion if the president of Lolita fashion and household brands are breaking rules then you should also not feel guilty for few little things here and there. Aim of Lolita fashion is to feel pretty and have fun. You are the prettiest person alive, embrace it and have fun with this style. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Do what makes you happy and don't ever feel guilty about buying off brands because sometimes food, shelter and bills is important and that is understandable.
I love everyone of you. Hope my guides help you a lot <3

original callout post is by @menheratic !! if you want more info, please ask them. i am merely reuploading the original callout post of ezaki. please do check out the link of the jp community calling him out in 2019 ^^ https://togetter.com/li/1327770
! The following post talks about the various bad things that Menhera-chan's creator, Ezaki Bisuko, has done.
Here a japanese summary of all the shit he did so far, including but not limited to:
• registering Yamikawaii as trademark
• sending his fans after gyaru YouTuber Usatani to harass her into a suicide attempt over unknowingly buying a shirt with stolen PPG fanart he drew
• himself buying products with stolen art, even promoting their sales, because it’s totally ok when he does it
• the reason why Usatan’s original design was changed aka it was a ripoff of Cult Party’s iconic rabbit mascot that was designed by their artist Maromika-chan
• wrote a whole guide on how to legally get away with sex work as child
• proof of him tracing art for the more detailed MCH artworks
• how he attended the Menhera Exhibit only to smear misogynist bullshit with blood on maxipads
• complaining about how anime for little girls are evil feminist agenda TM because ain’t nobody need men to be saved anymore
• boasting about being a fashion designer only selecting the finest fabrics for his merch when it’s actually made by the japanese equivalent of Redbubble
• “parody” works featuring child characters like Chibi Maruko-chan prostituting themself, the message being all women are whores regardless of age for the right amount of money
• the small “terms and conditions” shield he has at his con booths where you agree that you need to buy anything you touch
• how he setup an earthquake victim fundraiser only to keep the money
• telling his english fans they are not allowed to use any of his art for private use, like as icon, unless they pay him
• how he wants to move to the US when he turns 30 because of all the evil haters TM in Japan
• copyright claiming everyone left and right
• japanese Menhera speaking out about he keeps hurting the community
In regards of the maxi pads:
TW, CW // nooses, misogynistic text in red on maxipads
Tumblr media
Our favorite being the second row second one, “Abortion is murder”.
Some more recent event: When he started harassing and hating on disabled people after Tokyo Fashion translated a Tweet of his because being disabled is discriminating yourself.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’s like a trainwreck that refuses to end, now with 100% more crypto on NFT while shitting on those who warn about the dangers.
Tumblr media
His NFT sales can be found here: https://foundation.app/@bisuko_ezaki
For some reason, after 7 years, he also decided to re-release the infamous wrist-cut bracelet to sell at events. The leader of the Neo-Decora group bought one for example:
TW // Bracelet that imitates sh, includes blood
Tumblr media
Also keeps doing collabs with “Tokyo Uragawa” under Yamiko so Seigi (Mental illness is justice), which focuses on self-harming girls as fetish objects.
TW, CW // drawn sh
Tumblr media
Recently, he also wrote a long-article on his definition of Yamikawaii:
https://harajuku-pop.com/67775/
Tumblr media
Still not sure where overseas people got “this is about mental health awareness” from, might be based on mistranslations because the word for mental health and illness is one in the same, and his definition is about glorifying mental illness. In fact, this is why he was banned from Tumblr because he kept posting other people’s self-harm photos to his aesthetic blog Menherabusu.
Next up: Made suicide baiting posts over his following decreasing in the hopes of getting attention, fans sent him photos of cute animals to cheer him up, and he decided to post about destroying the pictures.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tbh, this list could go on forever as he does this kind of bs on an almost daily basis now, but apparently people don’t care enough to stop throwing money at him.
Meanwhile the Japanese community made a whole Wiki for tracking all of his drama considering how much it is by now.
https://ezabisumatome.wiki.fc2.com/
TW // mention of shotacon
Decided to nickname himself Shotabi, the name being a combination of Shotacon and Bisuko, while using nsfw anime edits of male child characters in sexual situations as decor for his selfies.
Tumblr media
𝐚𝐬𝐤𝐞𝐝:
Is it ok to still like Menhera-chan?
𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐰𝐞𝐫:
Sure, the problem is really only Ezaki himself and his increasing problematic remarks fueled by his ego, the manga is a lot older than him being like that.
Fun fact: Ezaki actually hates Menhera-chan because it's the only thing he ever gets approached for by the media, he constantly rants about this on Twitter. If you have noticed, he barely makes new MCH content anymore (unless he gets paid for it) and mainly reposts old artworks and fanart (without permission) instead because it's the only way he can still get attention as his other works, like the misogynist Manapisu, which is just him hating on women as "dumb wh*res" as a manga, flopped badly.
Just try to not fund his bs by buying new goods.

hi hi just wanted to share smth I thought up
imagine chigiri who in middle school had a best friend who was also very fast and did track. They were the only one who could ever catch up with chigiri and thus they became best friends and their own sorta rivals.
Then suddenly fast track to chigiri's injury and now seeing their best friend who runs like wind and is now bitter af. He knows he shouldnt be bitter when they have been caring the whole time for him so he starts ignoring them.
some chigiri love will be shown on the earthtooz blog 2nite because i adore him and think he deserves the world.
i actually love this scenario, but just- oh my gosh, i want to add on to your thought with my own:
your 'relationship' with him is admittedly, one of your favourite ones, despite neither of you seeing much of each other during school. but you were known to be on the track team and chigiri for being the fasted sprinter on the soccer team.
and on the bleachers after practice, a friendship/friendly rivalry was born.
for two of the fastest people on their respective teams, your parents sure did not reciprocate that energy, taking their times picking you up from practice. thus, you would spend an unknown amount of time talking to him, bundled up in your sports tracksuits with your sports bag snug on your shoulder.
chigiri was pleasant company. a little stuck-up, sure, but fun to talk to nevertheless. you could tell he took great pride in being a fast runner, but as long as he had the skills to prove it, pride is something you can overlook. it was endearing. he still lost to you every time in a 100m sprint though.
you gave him tips one time. you'd never forgive yourself for helping chigiri almost beat you.
but you admire him for it. you admire his talent and his determination,
then suddenly, he's not at practice. he's not at school either. in fact, it's not a week later until you see him... with crutches and a boot. the look he gives you is empty and devoid of the usual friendliness he always shows you and he doesn't even make attempts of greeting you.
his mum picks him on time too.
you get the message that he doesn't want to talk to you. he doesn't make the effort to anymore, doesn't swing by your class during lunch time, doesn't say 'hi' to you before practice, and his coldness causes your heart to break in two.
people had always told you that distance makes the heart fonder. you found out yourself that the saying was as true as they make it sound, your heart jumping alive and filling you with unexplainable yearning. a feeling you later label as a crush. not that your crush on him could do much now.
you see him struggle in practices, witnessing the way the ball gets stolen off him- something that had never been done before, with such ease. he meets your gaze from where you were filling up your water and instantly glances away, ashamed.
the next time you hear of him after graduating middle school, he's on national television, going against the national u-20 soccer team, representing some... project called blue lock? you don't pay any mind to it though, sitting on the edge of your couch in anticipation. the world was watching chigiri hyoma- the prodigy you knew in middle school.
you panic a little when he gets subbed out and you're scrambling for your phone, searching for chigiri's contact. your old messages that were left on delivered appear, causing a subtle ache in your chest to manifest, but the first thing you send is an 'i'm watching the match. are you ok?'.
the next thing you send is a 'CONGRATULATIONS!' when his team wins.
you get a response an hour later, it's chigiri thanking you. his next text asks you to catch up over coffee. you agree as soon as the message is received.
one coffee 'date' turns into a day in harajuku. a walk together turns into visiting a local park and playing on the swing set, jokingly racing each other to each equipment and your feelings for him return full swing by the end of the two week break he has.
you spend his last day together. he tells you to keep an eye on him. that he'll become even better of a soccer player that either of you imagined in middle school. you make him keep the promise to you with a pinky promise. he agrees. you're satisfied.
and fast forward a few years, it's the night before the finals of the world cup and he's in your arms in the hotel room, self-care routine all done as you let him unwind with you in preparation for the big match tomorrow.
he tells you to watch him. that he'll bring home a medal for you. you make him pinky promise you. he agrees. he kisses your ring finger, where a precious gold band sits snugly, a reminder of his love and the years you have spent with the other.
thank u for ur ask !! sorry that i've been letting this one rot for a while but i've been waiting to get this one out since the day you sent it :D love the idea, thank u chaos!!

More fanart for @bluepeachstudios ! (Tell me if you want me to tag the other account btw :D) The differences between Pheo's drawing and Deangelo's... You can tell which one i did before i got to work /hj Also Dea is one of my favs fusion. He's just so cool and creative and COOL! ANYWAY SOME HEADCANNONS!: - Between his hyper-fixation and cap 7 facts, i see Dea as a collector. He's the kind of dude that if he gets one, he NEEDS THE REST. He NEEDS to complete his museum in Animal Crossing (for example). He likes collecting things a lot, and get little reminders of his adventures and stuff. He's very proud of his collections. - In that topic, i think he likes to have reminders of his family. I give him a necklace with beads in the color of each family member including fusions. But, in Rottmnt!Micky fashion, i also see him getting a collection of stickers for each sibling and friends to put in his plastron and shell. Is not permanent tho because he needs to unfuse some day. And also shower. - He has symmetric freckles. - ALSO LOOK AT HIS COLORS, HE'S THE WATERMELON BOY. HIS FRECKLES ARE LIKE SEEDS AND STUFF AAAAAAH - I think he has a Pastel Boy aesthetic with some hint to harajuku (Not enough to be harajuku tho. That would be too overwhelming. He just like his accessories) - Let's be honest, he's one of the OP ones (with Daphy) Anyway, hope you like the drawings! :D I thinks this HC are more HC that the last ones JSJS

This is a less a fact and more a random observation, but why are Senku and Gen wearing exactly the same outfit here? No other covers have matching outfits, much less identical. Even in chapter 29 where Kohaku and Senku are dressed as astronauts, their outfits still aren't identical...
Tumblr media
Is this the famous Japanese "pair look"? Where friends will wear matching outfits, popular in Harajuku and other fashionable places? They are obviously very good friends. Best friends, even!

"Landmine Clothes" are Typically Not Even Girly Anymore: A Look into How Brands Use the Term
A main topic on this blog back when I started it was discussing the way the term "landmine" has been used in order to sell products. While I mostly covered entities like Lafary, who initially promoted it dishonestly on purpose for clout while it was highly associated with Girly fashion, there have been many other brands who have used it in the past two years in order to sell clothes, as popularity of the term has gone up and down.
But the effects of using this label to death as a selling point are starting to become more clear, now that we are beginning year 3 of the term evolving as a sales point. Because as it turns out, when a controversial term sells well, all kinds of brands will hop onto the trend in order to cash in: even if they're completely unrelated to how the fad initially looked.
Which brings us to the current state of the "style".
Another super long post incoming, so, putting a readmore as per usual.
Something important to start out with: brands and magazines are generally who are responsible for random terms being thought of as styles, which then gets parroted by other people. In fact there's an article on Yumekawaii, Yamikawaii that includes an interview with a Milklim representative, who had this to say about how styles acquire such names.
「私たちは私たちがかわいいと思うものを着ているだけで、そういう名前は外の人が勝手につけてるだけなんですよね」。
"We just wear what we think is cute, and those names are just given to us by outsiders".
Which brings us to landmine fashion, and the brands who tirelessly make up trends to push fads.
A big one is Anonenone, a Taobao reseller that seems to consider itself an authority on what's hot in the landmine fad. Their social media pages also tend to just say completely random things are now a "new trend", such as their recent claim that cyber fashion nowadays is a derivative of "サブカル系 (sabukaru-kei) and 天使界隈 (tenshi kaiwai)" due to it being light blue.
Cyber fashion is so old, a color shift would most certainly not be enough to make it a new derivative. And the two terms they mentioned are not actually fashions either, the latter one being the fan submission hashtag of this online magazine. This is a non-landmine example of what the main issue with their post is.
Anyway, looking into their landmine category on their website, while you will find a couple items that could be considered Girly, it mostly turns up accessories, and the rest of the clothes that are displayed are far from what was originally considered to be "landmine fashion".
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tracksuits and oversized striped sweaters have been quite popular among self-proclaimed landmines for a few months now. Even looking into the 地雷系 tag, you'll mostly find people wearing only those two things, as well as clothes that are very clearly other pre-existing styles, when before you would primarily get the black x pink coordinates that were synonymous with the stereotype.
This shift in what's considered landmine fashion is most prominent in how it has been covered by fashion outlets, such as Larme and Harajuku Pop. Larme actually has a partnership with the aforementioned Anonenone, which is why most of their recent issues recommend them in almost all of the coordinates featured. Although Larme has a rather interesting history with featuring landmine fashion, one that might be better for an entirely separate post...
Anyway, Harajuku Pop also recently did an online article about Reflem, as they're a "must see" brand for landmine girls, and all that's showcased is what I have previously discussed: tracksuits and what would just be considered Yamikawaii or punk-ish coordinates. Here's one example from that article:
Tumblr media
And before anyone comes running to explain how all of my examples are just "substyles" of landmine fashion: substyles have to bear the same anatomy of the original style they stem from at least somewhat, hence substyle. Established styles don't just drastically change appearance like this. If pink x black Girly coordinates are what landmine fashion started out as, and now it's oversized sweaters and plain tracksuits, what is landmine as a style, anyway? The answer is that it isn't one.
Unless you count the color black as being the thing that ties landmine outfits together, which would be so broad that everything would be landmine.
To put it into perspective, even when the Girly tracksuit thing was in full swing earlier in 2022, before it had any other associations, the tracksuits coming out had elements of Girly in them, such as frills, dress designs that were similar to maid outfits or nun outfits, etc. They weren't just any, nondescript tracksuits like the ones that are now sold as being landmine, although you can still find that type of Girly tracksuits being pushed as being landmine, as with everything else that's been associated with the term.
I still see a ton of pushback in Western JFashion spaces about using the term Girly Kei, as "landmine is just so much easier of a term to use", but with what's currently being considered landmine within Japan, that no longer holds up. Because now what brands are referring to as landmine fashion is even more broad than Girly Kei, as it encompasses so many varied styles with nothing tying them together except, of course, the stereotype (which is usually just people trying to emulate the physical elements that became associated with it, such as having undereye blush and a hime-cut because that is what "seems" landmine).
The point is, we would have to get rid of several years of pre-established styles in order to fit everything that's being claimed as landmine right now under that one label, which is what makes it even more clear that it's a fad, not a legitimate style.
Especially since many of the brands who pushed the term the hardest, such as DearMyLove, have now gone back to using Girly to push sales, instead of only labeling everything as landmine like they did at the height of the fad. This is likely due to landmine becoming unrecognizable from the clothing they primarily sell, which, has always been called Girly.

What is Pastel Goth?
I've noticed a lot of people questioning what pastel goth actually is, and unfortunately, there's quite a bit of misinformation being spread. As someone who has been into this subculture for about 8 years, I thought I could help clear things up for you all.
Pastel goth is, in fact, a subculture; however, it does not have the historical depth of other long-established subcultures, such as goth or emo. Contrary to the name, pastel goth doesn't have much to do with trad goth. Goth is primarily a music-based subculture, which means you need to enjoy goth music to consider yourself goth. This is not the case with pastel goth.
Pastel goth is a fashion and social media-based subculture that gained popularity on Tumblr in the 2010s. It essentially began as a fashion aesthetic, combining goth elements with pastel colors. The pastel goth style draws inspiration primarily from kawaii, harajuku, and goth fashion. It has always been heavily influenced by recent trends and continues to evolve with them.
While music isn't as central to this subculture compared to others, there are still popular artists within the scene, including Melanie Martinez, Marina and the Diamonds, and Lana Del Rey.
In the Pastel Goth community, you'll find a range of interests, from a passion for art (especially creepy cute art) to an enthusiasm for blogging or social media, an interest in fashion, and engagement in DIY projects.
The pastel goth lifestyle often emphasizes individuality, self-expression, and a willingness to find beauty in every aspect of life. Members of the subculture highly value inclusivity, diversity, and open-mindedness.
Long story short, pastel goth is much more than just a style; it's a broader subculture that extends beyond fashion choices, including shared values and interests. However, it is a relatively young community, and it will (hopefully) continue to grow and evolve.

Shadow High OCs Bio 5: Hotaru Yoruno
Tumblr media
COLOUR: Night sky blue, neon yellow
YEAR: First
GENDER: Bigender
FOCUS: Music Composition
STYLE: Flourescent. Eclectic. Visual Kei.
QUOTE: “Words come and go, but music is forever.”
BIO: The EDM prodigy sensation from Harajuku is now in the States, and the trip hasn’t slowed them down at all. Hotaru Yoruno, or NiteLite as they’re known on Spotify, brings an experimental, unique sound to Shadow High’s music scene. Combining discordant pianos/violins and eerie synthesized vocals with backing tracks including things like old handset ringtones, heart monitors, and computer error sounds, Hotaru’s music style is best described as something out of a weird dream, and their listeners like it that way. In Hotaru’s mind, every musical rule has a loophole, and music theory doesn’t equal music fact. They draw their inspo mostly from underground lo-fi artists and Vocaloid producers from the dark side of NicoNicoDouga, which adds a definite nostalgic edge to their work. Most people don’t know that Hotaru is actually a decent vocalist in their own right, but they lack the confidence to put that much of themself in their work. Maybe someday…but not without some serious audio filtering.
OTHER:
-Hailing from the Harajuku district in Tokyo, they’re fifteen years old.
-Yes, they’ve used UTAU at least twice in their music composition (they haven’t used vocaloid yet but their favourites are Iroha, Piko, and vflower).
-Their closest friend is Wyn, even providing music for xir animations, and the two may be developing a mutual crush.
-They’re passionate about webcore, nostalgiacore, analog horror, and old flash games and cartoons.
-Admires Neon Shadow, and was hired to help out with a few of the band’s shows’ sound design and sfx.
-Anime and manga don’t hold much interest for Hotaru, and they’re sick of being asked about it just because they’re Japanese and occasionally wear t-shirts with anime characters on them. (They’re not averse to visual novels, however.)
-They love to be outdoors on summer nights and don’t mind camping, either. Their favourite thing to do is play catch-and-release with fireflies.
-Hotaru’s favourite fashion subcultures come from the heart of 90s-mid 2000s era Harajuku, including gyaru, Lolita, boystyle, and especially visual kei.
