when callum keith rennie says “that’s not buddies” in hard core logo, which are words that in my brain are very firmly fixed as a ray kowalski expression even though it’s entirely possible he may only say it once or twice (it just echoes, it sticks)... just, for a brief second it’s like the due south universe (which is very stylized and in the end usually very sweet) and the hard core logo one (extremely rough from the edges right down to the middle, and only ever a tragedy) are trying to blend, crashing into each other like a meteorite impacting earth, and that’s maybe the biggest shock i get every time in that whole shocking mess (affectionate!) of a movie
