My Journey through School

Most people go to college right after high school, those who don't go into the workforce or the armed forces. Everyone does something different, growing up my parents always told me to do what I wanted. 

For the longest time I had a plan, I was going to go to the tech school for two years and get my general education done then transfer to the university for the last two years. For the first three months or so I wanted to be an architect, then remembered I'm bad at math. So I really didn't know what to do, but around October I took a few photos on my smart phone of my friend at her cross country meet. She loved them and still uses them as her profile picture to this day! That's when I came to realize I love taking photos, it didn't matter what or who it was, I loved it! 

I began my research to see if there was a way to learn more about photography at the university I wanted to go to. I made a few phone calls and they told me they had a photojournalism class and nothing more. I went to show what portfolio I had and they looked at it and told me that I would never become any photographer and should look for another major. 

I went home that day heartbroken and feeling like I would never be a photographer. Something in me told me to search art schools that taught photography. I looked at a few schools but most of them were in California or Chicago. I looked a little closer to home and found AI (The Art Institute of Nashville). It was only about an hour drive away and I could easily make that! Then came the hard part, telling my parents I wanted to go to school in Nashville. 

Though worried, they supported me and agreed to help me in any way they could. So in July of 2017, I was enrolled into AI! 

A year later, going into my summer semester I received an email saying that AI was not accepting new students. I didn't pay much attention to it and was looking forward to the new semester. I remember walking into AI and seeing everyone in a panic, the directors I had pulled all of the photo/video students into the studio and told us that the school had declared bankruptcy and that we had three days to figure out what we wanted to do. They told us that if we couldn't graduate by December 2018 that we needed to leave. 

With the help of some of the teachers I had, I found Nōssi! Nōssi helped me get back on track for my Bachelors and this is where I spent the next four years. 

I was in college for a total of six years, not because I failed or missed something, but I had a hard run. I came over all the hard times and overcame so much. I graduate this Saturday and I couldn't be happier! I did it, and so can you! Don't let anyone or anything hold you back!

Rocknacht Tennwil – Das Rockfest im Aargauer Seetal!!

Die Rocknacht Tennwil öffnet in diesem Jahr bereits zum 12. Mal ihre Tore!! Am 20. und 21. September 2019 wird das beschauliche Tennwil am Hallwilersee erneut zum Mekka der gepflegten Stromgitarren-Musik. Die Liebhaber von Rock-, Hardrock- und Metal dürfen dieses kleine aber feine Festival auf keinen Fall verpassen. Das diesjährige Line-Up ist gespickt mit nationalen und internationalen Rock-Acts der Extraklasse.

Die Vorfreude auf zwei unvergessliche Tage ist gross. 9 Bands werden auf der Bühne in Tennwil ihr Bestes geben.

Der Band AGAINST EVIL steht dieses Jahr die Ehre zu, die Rocknacht Tennwil zu eröffnen. Die 4 indischen Rocker werden am Freitag, 20. September 2019 zum ersten Mal in der Schweiz auftreten. Ihr Sound ist eine Mischung aus Speed-/Trash-/Power- und traditionellem Metal. Auch ohne “Exoten-Extra-Bonus“ wissen die vier Inder auf der Bühne zu überzeugen und werden mit Sicherheit einen Hammer-Auftritt aufs Parkett legen.Als nächstes sind WARKINGS an der Reihe. Ihre Herkunft: International! Diesen Sommer werden die 4 Helden des Krieges an verschiedenen Rock- und Metalfestivals in Europa am Start stehen, darunter auch am BANG YOUR HEAD und am WACKEN Open-Air. In der Schweiz haben sie die Rocknacht Tennwil ausgesucht, um ihre Geschichten und ihr reines und unverfälschtes Heavy Metal einem breiten Publikum vorzutragen. Die Bühne wird beim Auftritt von Warkings mit Sicherheit erzittern. Mit DEGREED aus Schweden stehen bekannte Gesichter am Start. Letztes Jahr noch als Akustik-Act auf der Rocknacht-Stage, werden sie in diesem Jahr die Besucher mit Stromgitarren und einem breiten Repertoire an fantastischen Songs aus der Kehle von Sänger Robin Ericsson begeistern. Man darf auf eine geballte Ladung Rockmusik gespannt sein. Als Headliner des ersten Festival-Tages gastiert die US-amerikanische Hard-RockBand HARDLINE auf dem Wasen in Tennwil. Mit einem fast unerschöpflichen Repertoire an Melodic- und Hardrock- Songs kommt das Quintett um Ausnahmesänger und Gründungsmitglied Johnny Gioeli (auch Frontmann bei Axel Rudi Pell) an die Rocknacht nach Tennwil. Mit im Gepäck haben sie das neuste Studioalbum “Life“, welches im April 2019 auf den Markt kam. Hardline werden die Besucher mit Sicherheit in ihren Bann ziehen. Für Liebhaber von feingeschliffenen Hardrock Perlen ist diese Band ein absolutes Muss.

Am Samstag, 21. September 2019 eröffnen die Berner HARDROAD den 2. Festivaltag. Swiss Southern Blues Hardrock nennt sich das Genre, indem sich diese 4 Musiker bewegen. Sie spielen ausschliesslich Eigenkompositionen und die Songs sind kraftvoll, dynamisch und haben einen hohen Wiedererkennungswert. Die Refrains setzen sich schnell als Ohrwürmer fest. Zusammenfassend gesagt, powervolle Hand-Made-Rock-Music, einfach zum Geniessen. Die wohl kürzeste Anreise an die Rocknacht Tennwil haben danach BLOODY HORSEFACE aus dem Wynental. Bereits im 2012 standen sie auf der RocknachtBühne. Seither ist viel passiert! Aber die Bloody’s sind sich in einem treu geblieben. Die Liebe zur Musik wird auf der Bühne richtiggehend zelebriert. Jedes ihrer Konzerte ist ein musikalisches Feuerwerk. In ihrem aktuellen Repertoire befinden sich Song-Perlen aus allen Dekaden der Rock/Metal-Geschichte. Mit ihren vier Gastsängern werden sie die Bühne einmal mehr zum Beben bringen. Weiter geht’s mit CROWN OF GLORY aus dem Kanton Luzern. Durch ihre musikalische Ansiedlung im Melodic-Metal-Bereich dürfen sich Fans von Bands wie Europe, Pretty Maids oder Stratovarius auf ein Konzert der Extraklasse freuen. Wer auf Power, wunderschöne eingängige Melodien und aussagekräftige Texte steht, darf sich den Auftritt von Crown of Glory an der Rocknacht Tennwil nicht entgehen lassen. Als nächstes sind DEVICIOUS aus Deutschland an der Reihe. Anfang März 2019 ging die Band auf Tour und durfte mit, den treuen Rocknacht-Besucher bestens bekannten Bands wie Ammunition, Maverick oder Twenty Dark Seven die Bühne teilen. Mit ihrem neuen Album “Reflections“, welches sie zum Start ihrer Tour auf den Markt brachten, landeten sie einen Vollerfolg. Kurz gesagt, ein Melodic-HardrockAlbum vom Feinsten mit allem was dazu gehört. Zudem präsentierte die Band am 01. Mai 2019 ihren neuen Lead-Sänger. Er heisst Antonio Calanna. Obschon erst 28 Jahre alt ist er bereits ein Star in der Musical-Branche. In der Hauptrolle als Jesus in “Jesus Christ Superstar – das Rock-Musical“ stand er auf so mancher Bühne und wusste das Publikum in seinen Bann zu ziehen. DeVicious ist besser als je zuvor und freut sich darauf, ihre neuen Songs und ihre Hits an der Rocknacht Tennwil präsentieren zu dürfen. Als letzte Band und absoluter Headliner gastieren H.E.A.T aus Schweden an der diesjährigen Rocknacht in Tennwil. In einer Zeit, in der Bands wie Foreigner, Journey und Whitesnake eine regelrechte Wiederauferstehung erleben und junge Leute wieder Classic Rock-Band-Shirts tragen, sind H.E.A.T das Leuchtfeuer, das dieses Genre in die Zukunft bringen wird.
