So we did go see the Harley Quinn movie this passed Tuesday night
or Harley Quinn:Birds of Prey or Harley Quinn and Birds of Prey
or Birds of Prey and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn
whatever you want to call it it we went to see it.
personally I'm saying its the the Harley Quinn movie becasue
that is what it is for the most part its her movie
she is the main character and the star of it.
anyway..
yes there was Cups and buckets for this and some
collectables and you can read about that here
In Theater movie merch!
but yup we went to see it and and I thought it
was actually really good. It does take place
after Suicide Squad this is pretty much what
happened after the Joker broke her out of
Belle Reve at the end of that movie.
This movie for the most part shares
the stylistic design of Suicide Squad
with the animated overlays, character
profile cards and neon text and
writing style of the previous movie
This movie also opens up with a nice
lil 2D animated intro which I thought
was really cool this plays while
Margot Robbie as Harley gives a lil
run down of her life and what she
has been up to since the break out
then from that it goes right into
the movie.
it does feature flashbacks to
Suicide Squad and some new
scenes with..the Joker?!?
but the way they did it you
can't see his face so its
not Jared Leto obviously
and that is it for Joker
in this movie its like I
think 2 scenes? not counting
the 2D animated Joker in
the animated intro
(which I think looks a
bit more like the Joker
from Batman: TAS)
Now of course this introduces
more "Batman/Gotham" characters
into the DCEU and of course
Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn is
excellent in this as you would expect
I have to say I did like
Rosie Perez as Renee Montoya and
Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary
but at the say time I'm iffy on
Mary Elizabeth Winstead as The Huntress
I don't know what it was about her
she just didn't click to me as the
Huntress.
Also I was a bit disappointed
by Cassandra Cain. Don't get me wrong
Ella Jay Basco who plays the character
was pretty great but the problem is
this Cassandra Cain is nothing like
the one in the comics. so actress
was great I just wish the character
was a lil more source material accurate.
Now as for Ewan McGregor as Roman Sionis
AKA Black Mask I thought he did a great
job even tho I did feel he was a tiny
bit over the top at times but over all
I think he did a good job.
Now as for the movie itself I did
hear alot of ppl say it was extremely
feminist.. and I don't know? I didn't
feel it was, it was a bit wacky and
zanny and I did get a good laugh
at alot of it cause I felt it was funny
but what part was "extremely
feminist" ? Black Canary singing
"its a mans world"? Harley saying
she doesn't need a man and going
to do stuff herself? women beating up
guys? like I said I didn't feel it
was "extremely feminist"
personally Captain Marvel was way more
"extremely feminist" then this.
This movie was great I enjoyed it
it was funny, there was lots of
great action and stunts and even
the music was awesome.
all except "barracuda"
I really hate that song its like
every female action scene has to
play that song, why?
what does this have to do with
female action scenes?
at least in their climatic final
battle sequence they didn't play
something like "Just A Girl"
like some other movie :P
but in the end I thought
the movie was pretty great
I enjoyed it alot it was fun
and I think the R-rating allowed
it to be the movie it wanted to be
which was great. So I would recommend
going to see it. It needs some love
and I think it deserves it.

put your top 10 movies in gif form!
1. (ok so I basically love all of the MCU, but Captain Marvel really just left a special place in my heart. I’m a terribly emotional movie watcher, but this really had me bawling from how strong this character is, loved it!)
2. The Silence of the Lambs (Jodie foster is just phenomenal! This movie is so creepy good)
3. Jurassic Park (The score in this just gives me chills every time)
4. Harley Quinn:Birds of Prey (this one also has a special place, it was the last movie I watched before COVID really began to shut everything down, so for a while, it was the last memory I had of me going out when everything seemed, ‘normal’)
5. Hustlers (bc of course, and yes, I cried as well. Every time I remember that ending, I tear up a bit)
6. Jumanji (not that fucking garbage remake, I REFUSE. but yes, I love everything about this movie, the seasonal feel, the music, the 90s fashion and ofc Robin Williams)
7. and since we are on an old school kick, I absolutely love The Mummy AND the The Mummy 2. I’m putting both of these into one bc you cannot just watch one! (I also refuse to watch the 3rd where my precious Evy was re-casted, nope!)
8.Pirates of the Caribbean (basically the first 3 of my fav, but I like the last one too, and ofc I cried 😂)
9. Harry Potter ( 1 and 7pt1 are my favs)
10. Beetlejuice (this one takes up the most space for ‘special place in my heart’. I was hospitalized for a week once, and I vividly remember the hospital tvs playing this movie and it was one of the many things that comforted me <3)
I like alot of older movies and classics. I’m not really one for newer stuff now, except for fantasy/sci fi stuff. Hope you all had fun reading!

Harley Quinn:Birds Of Prey, like the problem was with the title?
Really guys,really?
In last week’s episode of The Nerdy Venoms,we dib and dab with the “misadventures” of Harley Quinn and her disappointing box office numbers.
What went wrong?
Lack of advertisement, especially when you had TWO of the biggest, largest comic book conventions last year,to have a PANEL in Hall H at SDCC or NYCC main stage.
None of this happened.
Instead,New York Comic Con/Warner Bros, choose to do a “lottery” (pretty much for everything now-a-days) for you to get a quick meet and greet with the cast and get an autographed movie poster, which some folks were already trying to sell off in some Facebook groups, immediately afterwards.

Spying on the Birds in the Rain - 02/09/2020
Rain and the Washing Out of Habits-
After spending all of Saturday at Danque's birthday party pretty much and the rain that came in, I did not want to do pretty much anything. So it's easy to say that I did not keep up with any of my positive habits like exercise. Instead of feeling down about it though, I instead decided to focus on doing the small productive things that I felt up to doing like laundry and getting gas. In the meantime, I knew that I could at least focus on a movie so I decided to watch a couple of movies instead. So instead of having leisure time watching something that I might not care about, I at least watched three movies that I have been meaning to watch/rewatch for a very long time.
“Birds of Prey” or Warner Brothers could not title a movie to save their lives-
I was actually kind of excited for this movie however the execution definitely leaves something to be desired. I do like Margot Robbie's portrayal of Harley Quinn and Ewan McGregor as expected kind of stole the show whenever he was on screen. The biggest thing I think that let the movie down was it's plot or lack-thereof. I think the film's biggest disservice is that they tried to pull together way too many plot lines at once into one singular plot line that was weak to begin with. I think the film would have done better as an either or type of movie. In that I think the movie would have been better as a Harley Quinn only movie or a Birds of Prey only movie. While I believe that contrast makes for a good story, there was a bit too much contrast between the wacky happy go lucky Harley Quinn tone and the more supposedly grim dark of the Birds of Prey and the villains.
Also I wish they had stuck with a more simple title to begin with. I get why they wanted the original title. I like ridiculous titles myself. I also do know that the wacky titles are just a character identity and not a great way to actually identify what a movie actually is. I think the altered title they have now of Harley Quinn:Birds of Prey is a lot better and a lot more simple. If anything they needed to not include it as an official title and had the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn as a title but only an unofficial one they splash during the title screen.
“Casino Royale”/”Quantum of Solace”-
With the most likely last Daniel Craig movie coming out soon, I wanted to finally watch/rewatch all of his Bond movies. After watching both Knives Out and Logan Lucky, I got really interested in seeing all of the Bond movies either again or for the first time. Here's the thing I know I definitely have seen Casino Royale and Skyfall but I am not quite as sure if I have seen either Quantum of Solace or Spectre though I feel like I might have. In any case they are fun spy films that while are not the greatest in terms of believability they have good action and hero moments for Bond.
Both Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace stand up pretty well for their age and I can see them working just as well a long time down the road. It helps that they did seem to avoid a lot of CGI when possible and that even the "advanced" tech gadgets don't feel too old compared to modern technology. Some of Bond's actions seem a bit too much male power fantasy in these earlier movies but I guess I will wait to see if it's just the actions of a young brash spy or not.
Pieology Low Carb Crust-
As a kind of note to self, the Pieology Low Carb Crust is good as a food item. It's just not good as a pizza crust. It just seems to be missing a lot of things that make up a good pizza crust. Mostly I think it has a lot more of a chicken-y base then I was expecting and I think it would be better if it was more cheese forward and not chicken forward like it is. I think if I were sticking to a completely strict low carb diet then it would be a good substitute during the times that I am really tempted to have a pizza but it would not really satisfy my craving for a pizza.

Yup with our viewing of Harley Quinn's
Birds of Prey there was some in theater
stuff to go with it.
for collectable there was the usual
Funko Pop figures of the characters
from the movie and even some lil
mini funko Harley key chain things
and they had also had some Harley Quinn
pattern socks that you could get lol
but of course I didn't get any of that
but they did have Cups and Buckets!!
which was I surprised by being the
last time they had anything like that
for a DC movie was back in 2016 with
Batman V Superman.
Now we did happily get both the cup and
the bucket!
the cup features one of the posters
with Harley's face and all the the other
characters flying around her.
the topper is of course her famous
mallet and it can be taken off the
base and used as a key chain
they had 2 different ones you could
get the mallet or the baseball bat
that she used in Suicide Squad
the second half of this set
is the popcorn bucket that is
of course the mallet itself
this is of course made of plastic
unlike the recent metal buckets
the popcorn of course goes into the
head of the mallet and the handle
is one sold piece
the head of the mallet is a lil
over 7inches high
and from the top of the mallet
to the bottom of the handle its
about 14 and a half inches long.
but that is it for what I got at the movie if you would like to
see my thoughts on the movie itself you can follow this link
