It Had To Be You is finally completed!

“You don’t give yourself enough credit. You’re a leader Harry. People look to you for guidance.”

“Well,” he said, his voice a bit stronger now that the tempo had changed, and they had fallen into a territory of conversation that felt somehow less important. “That will never happen. Can you imagine me being in charge of a country? I still rely on you if I’m to be on time to most social functions. Little do they know I look to you.”

Truth was, he relied on her for more than keeping track of the time. Putting her in such a small box felt a disservice to her character. To their relationship. His hand held her waist in a way he knew was flirting with the line they’d agreed to keep, but he didn’t care. He let his fingers sink into her, let his thumb do as it pleased in swiping the side of her ribs, just under the curve of her breast beneath the thin silk dress.

He watched her chest rise and fall, heavier now, and continued to carry her across the floor.

“I’ve learned over the years that you’re usually right about things.” Hermione opened her mouth to disagree, but he stopped her short. “Mostly,” he added.

“Cheeky,” she said before laughing.

Harry was unable to resist grinning himself. “Besides, if you become Minister,” he went on, “that means I can be your bodyguard.”

Hermione blushed then shook her head. “You’d never quit Hogwarts.”

He spun her out in time with the melody, keeping contact with her wrist by means of one single finger. When she came back to him, he let his hand sweep the hair from her shoulder and nearly grazed the hollow of her neck with his thumb.

“I would, for you,” he whispered, then spun her out again.
