So I’ve found more photos from this shoot taken by Hugh Brown in 1978 outside of Rather Ripped Records on packetofthree.com. Because of this first, better-known photo out of the set that circulates around being cut off at the bottom, I had no idea that Harri Kakoulli’s cane and whatever he’s got strapped around his wrist isn’t part of some odd aesthetic, but that he actually got hurt pretty seriously? (What in untold Squeeze history happened?!)

I’m glad that he seems to be in good spirits, and that they’re all having so much fun together, but poor Harri!

Into the GuyLoboVerse: Day 20

Earth 247: Metal Elysium

GUY GARDNER - A man with a bowl cut in a navy, yellow, and white color blocked letterman jacket is searching the room with his eyes. It seems he is looking for someone -- you. As you approach, he looks you up and down and extends his hand in greeting. PERCEPTION (SIGHT) [Medium: Success] - On the sleeve of his letterman jacket -- as well as on its back -- are the same enigmatic green rectangles as on your blazer. YOU - Shake his hand. GUY GARDNER - "Hello, I'm Guy Gardner." His grip is firm. "Lieutenant Precinct 2814. You must be from the 3500th..." You realize he is waiting for your name. 1. - "I don't really know my name." 2. - [Conceptualization - Medium 11] Invent a name for yourself. 3. - Say nothing.

Author's Notes:

Ok so this is a bit of a fake fan moment for me (I still haven't played Disco Elysium all the way through. I've played it very little unfortunately). HOWEVER, I know in my heart that it would be fun to do the dynamic of a man giving a broken man the room to pull himself together with Guy and Lobo. It's spiritually connected to the Nice Guys AU (Earth 156) in that Harry du Bois and Holland March are similar (substance issues, 70s, divorced and broken about it) though Harry is much further gone than March. So it is Lobo's turn to play the broken detective.

The text above is a slightly edited version of the scene where Harry meets Kim. I wish I could do more to write in the style of the game but as I said I have not played enough of the game to have the voice there captured. One day though...

Since Kim's iconic jacket is supposed to be modeled after the air brigades in the revolution, I modeled Guy's off of General Glory. With Lobo I switched out Harry's disco look with the most professional wardrobe I could find for Judas Priest (Heavy Metal band with a gay lead singer) in the 70s and 80s.

I know that part of Harry's substance abuse stems from trying to control his chronic pain which is something that slots in nicely with my own headcanon that Lobo's consistent and excessive drinking is to dull his own overactive senses so that he can focus at all. (An insert in Lobo: The Last Czarnian describes his tracking abilities as being able to sense and follow individual auras which would make any populated area extremely overwhelming).

I haven't done much with this one yet because I'm waiting until I have time to play the game more. But it rolls around in my head.

Request: Heyy can you do a Holland x Sister where she goes on a date but it ends up being bad and she has to ask Sam for help?

Sam Holland x sister!reader

Summary: Sam saves his sister from a crappy date.

Y/N finishes applying her makeup and glances over her appearance to make sure she's oaky with it. She's wearing a dark blue sundress that ends a few inches above her knees. She has a purple cropped cardigan on and her heels are black. Her hair is half up half down and she curled it so it's in perfect ringlets unlike her crazed curls she usually has.

Y/N smiles, satisfied with the way she looks for the date tonight. She grabs her phone and purse and goes downstairs, finding her three older brothers down there.

"Hey, I'm going now." Y/N tells them.

"Going where?" Tom asks.

"On my date. I mentioned it earlier." Y/N says.

"He's not picking you up?" Tom asks.

"I told him I'd meet him there. I don't wanna be in a car with a guy I just met. Especially alone." Y/N says.

"Right. Yeah, no, that-- that's definitely a smart idea." Tom nods.

"Yeah. I know." Y/N says, lightly rolling her eyes.

"Just call one of us if you need anything." Sam tells her.

"Yeah. Harry and I are going to the pub, but we'll keep our phones on." Tom tells her and he kisses her cheek when he walks past her into the living room.

"Yeah, thanks. See you guys later." Y/N tells them and she leaves.

Y/N rests her head in her hand as she pretends to be interested in her date's story. This is the most dreadful date she's been on and all she wants to do is leave. Or bang her head against the table until she knocks herself out.

"Yo, homie, I gotta go hit the head. I'll be right back." The guy states.

"Take your time." Y/N gives him a fake smile.

"Maybe when I get back we could, uh... take this date to my place?" The guy suggestively asks, winking at her. Y/N fights every bone in her body to not show any disgust.

"Yeah, maybe." Y/N lets out a weak chuckle. The guy walks off to the restroom and Y/N shivers in disgust. "What the fuck was I thinking?" She whispers to herself.

Y/N quickly takes her phone out and clicks on the phone icon. She scrolls through her contacts until she finds Sam. She clicks on his number and holds her phone to her ear. It rings three times before he picks up.

"Hey. You good?" Sam's voice comes through the phone.

"Please dear God, for the love of everything, come get me." Y/N begs.

"Wow. Date that bad, huh?" Sam asks.

"I-- he's insufferable. He just tells the same boring story over and over. And when he isn't he's on his Goddamn phone. And now he expects me to go back to his place with him. I wanna stab myself with my fork."

"Please don't." Sam tells her.

"Can you just come get me? I will do anything, just please save me. The food is crappy, too. I'm starving." Y/N says.

"I'll be there in a bit. Then I'll call you pretending there's an emergency and you can run out to my car." Sam says and Y/N hears him grab his keys.

"Thank you, thank you, thank you. I love you so much. You are my favorite brother." Y/N says. She looks up, spotting her date walking back. "he's coming back, I gotta go. Hurry up." She whispers before hanging up before Sam can reply to any of her statements.

"So... we going to my place or not?" Her date asks.

"How about we, uh... we talk a little more?" Y/N suggests.

"Okay. Uh..." He thinks of anything to say before starting to ramble about something Y/N couldn't care less about.

After about 10 minutes, Y/N's phone rings and she sees it's Sam's contact. "Oh, sorry I should take this." She says, cutting her date off mid sentence. She presses the green button and puts the phone to her ear. "Hey, what's up?"

"Y/N, you gotta get home. Paddy broke his legs, it's insane. And Tom tried to cook so there's a fire and everything's just gone to shit!" Sam exclaims. He pretends to cry out in pain making his voice higher pitched to imitate his youngest brother.

"Okay, okay, uh, I'm... I'm on my way." Y/N says and she hangs up. "Sorry, uh... family emergency. I-- I should really go." She says, quickly getting up and collecting her things.

"Oh, cool, uh... we should do this another time." The guy says.

"Yeah. Yeah, uh, I'll... I'll be in touch." Y/N says, attempting to be polite. She rushes out, glancing around for Sam's car and once she finds it she rushes over. Sam sees her coming and unlocks the doors and she quickly gets in.

"Thank you." Y/N heaves in relief, sitting back in the seat.

"No problem." Sam says, quietly chuckling at her distressed state.

"Seriously, Sammy. I owe you. Whatever you want." Y/N states.

"You don't owe me. I'm your big brother, I'm here to save you from shitty dates. Or to scare guys off." Sam says, pulling out of the parking spot.

"Are you sure?" Y/N asks.

"I'm sure." Sam promises. "Are you okay?"

"Yeah. Yeah, I'm fine. He wasn't, like, creepy or anything. He was just... God, he was so bloody boring." Y/N declares and Sam chuckles at the disdain in her voice. "I'm surprised I'm still awake. Or alive." She quickly gets on her phone and blocks the guy's number, not even wanting to deal with him over text. She knows it's not the nicest move, but at the moment she couldn't care less.

"Where are we going?" Y/N asks once she realizes Sam is driving in the opposite direction of their house.

"You said you were hungry." Sam recalls.

"And? Don't we have food at home?" Y/N asks.

"True, but do you really want food at home?" Sam asks.

"I... I was going to." Y/N says, shrugging.

"Well, you should have at least a semi good time tonight." Sam says. She watches him pull into the parking lot of her favorite place to eat out. He parks the car and gets out. Before Y/N can open her door, Sam rushes over and opens it for her.

Y/N gives him a confused look as she steps out of the car. Sam shuts the door and locks the vehicle.

"What are you doing?" Y/N asks her brother.

"I am taking you on a decent date." Sam tells her. "To make up for your mind numbing one."

"You don't have to. I'm really okay with just going home and eating bagel bites or something." Y/N says.

"Okay, you said you owe me. I'm making you let me do this." Sam says.

"Thought you said I didn't owe you?" Y/N asks.

"Well, now you do. Stop being stubborn and let me show you how a guy should treat you." Sam says.

"Fine." Y/N gives him a small eye roll, though he does notice her lips quirk up in a tiny smile.

"Besides your favorite brother has to maintain favorite brother status." Sam says, wrapping his arm around her shoulders.

"Mm. Favorite kind of annoying brother." Y/N says earning an offended look from Sam.

Sam and Y/N ate at her favorite place and talked about whatever came to mind, Sam making sure to open every door he could for her. They stopped at the store and Sam went in and got some junk food.

They got home and Y/N changed into her pajamas and took all her makeup off. She returns downstairs where Sam is with two pints of ice cream on the coffee table and he also changed into his pajamas.

The two put Y/N's movie of choice on and each enjoying their own pints of ice cream. Now, Y/N is fighting off sleep so she can finish the third movie they're on and she rests her head on Sam's shoulder.

"Thank you... again. For tonight." Y/N tells him.

"I told you, it's my job. I'm your big brother." Sam says.

"I know, but still, thank you." Y/N says. "I really appreciate it."

"No problem." Sam mumbles, kissing the top of her head. "Am I still your favorite brother?"

"You're currently in first place still, yes." Y/N assures. Sam victoriously fist bumps the air making her laugh.

London - 13 Nov 2022

As a continuation of this post here are pictures from my visit to London last month! I dropped by some Queen-related places, it was a long list and impossible to get to in only 1-2 days. I'm also horrendous at schedule management so I missed places that were actually close to each other, welp.

But anyway! Here are the places I got to visit that day. You can click to see the full pictures. Please do not repost my photos!

Garden Lodge was the first stop! I think this place needs no explanation. Lovely place during a lovely weather. I had the area for myself for about 15 mins before a few other fans came along as well to take pictures.

The next stop was 12 Stafford Terrace in Kensington. This was supposedly Freddie's first flat in London, and it is the location of many familiar photos including this one above I attached. It was a really nice place, not that we question it but Freddie had an excellent taste.

Afterwards I had to rush off and barely caught what used to be the location of Kensington Market. Here's a video I took from the bus lol. The market was sadly already demolished and is now a Currys. If I get to go there again I'll take a proper photo of the entire area!

From Kensington I went to Soho and visited 143 Wardour Street. This address was where they took this well-known photo above (Watal Asanuma)! This area is where I should have visited the original Marquee site as well as Trident studios, but I messed up the day's schedule that I didn't get them. Next time for sure!

On my way back from lunch in Soho I went to Carnaby Street where they have the lyrics of Bohemian Rhapsody (I didn't think they were still there!). They were put up there to celebrate the launch of the movie in 2018. I bet they look a lot nicer at night but I was there in the afternoon so this is what I got.

Next up is Royal Albert Hall. This was very annoying because there was a huge tent set up that ruined the scenery and again thanks to my bad scheduling management this was the last day I could go anywhere. So I couldn't stand on the exact steps that Smile stood on in this photo (Douglas Puddifoot) without the tent in view, but oh well. I tried my best!

Just around there I went to see the plaque for PRS for Music Heritage award, which commemorates Queen's first public performance in London at Imperial College. Also got a video of where exactly it is. It was originally unveiled in a different place (as shown in photo) but after about a month it was then moved outside for better visibility.

While around Imperial College I looked for this specific site where Queen took this picture when they were still with Mike Grose. It was fun searching for it (it was quite hidden imo) and I felt really triumphant once I found it! There were several compartments (?) but I just picked one that I think is the same one lol.

Genuinely tried my best to keep up with the sun but it set so quickly so I dropped by whatever was on the way back to my hotel. This building at 54 Russell Gardens was formerly Kensington Tavern. This was apparently where Freddie first met Ibex and Roger met John Harris. Pretty iconic! It's a shame that it was closed down.

And from there I finally went to 100 Holland Road, which was also a flat where Freddie once lived in. Firstly, I regret not taking this when there was still sunlight because it didn't look as pretty as it I hoped it would. Secondly, scaffoldings... ugh. Just my luck. Well here's a photo of when it looked nice, hope I can get a shot of it like that next time. This flat is also where this iconic photoshoot (Douglas Puddifoot) took place.

Lastly, below are some bonus of tourist-y photos I took the day before haha. It was a cloudy night but the lights were so pretty!

And that's all for this part of London visit! Again I know I missed a lot of obvious places in literally the same areas that I visited, but with the combo of my bad route planning and the fact that there are just so many historical places in London related to the band, it was obvious that it's going to require several dedicated visits to eventually get to all of them, if I really want to.

My sincerest thanks to Ribbit London who made me a custom map for my visit, put up with my whining about tents and scaffoldings, and always responded so quickly when I get lost pretty much every other turn looking for a specific landmark lol. I couldn't have made it without you!

I will be visiting London several more times for sure, and I hope to be able to get to as many Queen-related sites next time!

MinifigureSowcase: Pirates of the Caribbean Extended Cast

While the short lived LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean theme captured the visage of many of the franchise’s most iconic characters, there were several whose lack of representation left something to be desired. As such, I have taken it upon myself to encapsulate said characters, using exclusively LEGO with my own custom designs.

1. Lord Cutler Beckett

Arguably the main antagonist of the series, and undoubtedly that of the third film, Lord Cutler Beckett displays a cunning wit and masterful manipulation to seize control of the open ocean. His commanding presence portrayed by Tom Hollander was unfortunately never captured in LEGO form, outside of the LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean game. In the spirit of said game, while not “stooping” to the level of comical humor, I have used dark brown mid-legs to capture Beckett’s *AHEM* Napoleonic disposition. Outside of that, a 15th century wig from the LEGO revolutionary soldier (yeah, THAT was a thing!) and an existing face print and cane lended by a Harry Potter wand concluded the ensemble of LEGO Cutler Beckett.

2. Governor Weatherby Swann

An exponentially simpler minifigure, Governor Weatherby Swann’s roles in the film series dwindled as it went on, ending in his off-screen demise a third of the way through At World’s End. Coincidentally, it is from his brief appearance in that film that I have based his minifigure counterpart. Inspired by the LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean game, the Governor uses the same exact hair piece as his daughter, recolored in light grey to resemble his pompous wig. The wrinkled face of a diplomat is courtesy of Gandalf the Grey from the LEGO The Hobbit line specifically. And, like may of the more regal characters in the PotC franchise, Wetherby Swann’s garb varies from scene to scene, so I chose to emulate his sand green coat featured in, as previously mentioned, At World’s End.

3. Commdore James Norrington

James Norrington is one of the oft overlooked characters in the Pirates of the Caribbean films, which is an awful shame, considering how perfect the grandeur of his righteous demeanor juxtaposes the crude heroism of everyone’s favorite Captain. Not to mention, in one capacity or another, he is present in all three of the first films. However, while his drunken, disheveled look from Dead Man’s Chest was officially captured in LEGO set 4183 The Mill, we never got to see his far more prevalent and memorable Commodore/Admiral garb. Fortunately, many new parts have been introduced to the LEGO catalogue to accomplish the task of promoting a magnificent officer. I couldn’t decide whether to use his more yellow look from the third film or his whiter look from the first, but ultimately decided on the latter because of it’s more coherent scheme. Finally, his head comes courtesy of Legolas, ironically a LEGO iteration of one of Orlando Bloom’s famous characters. And the Commodore’s hat is no more than the LEGO Pirate girl’s hat/hair piece, with the hair colored silver. It by no means ideally matches the good Commodore’s appearance, but it does come far closer than what a simple tricorne could accomplish.

4. Elizabeth Swann

Elizabeth is one of the characters who, albeit extremely sparingly, was depicted in LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean, particularly set 4181 Isla De Muerta, which depicts her red dress version from the first film. However it is undeniable that Elizabeth started playing a far more active role in the second and third films. As such, I have elected to remake her minifigure, reusing her stellar face print and hair, while making a new torso that resembles her garb from the latter part of Dead Man’s Chest. It’s a simple cut, but it compliments Will Turner’s similarly simplistic look. Perhaps in the future I will remake her minifigure again, reusing the face and hair but making her appearance as seen in At World’s End.

Which cast do you picture in the Homeward Bound universe? Id assumed it was tom holland’s peter because harley doesn’t exist in the other spidermen’s movies but I also know you’re a Garfield-Spidey fan and that Harry Osborn and Gwen haven’t been MCU’d—just out of curiosity!!

okay hi this is the first of my current EIGHT unanswered hb asks omg. i'm !!!!! actually shaking with excitement about the fact that i'm about to get to ramble SO MUCH about hb holy shit. okay. okay.

so, obviously harley is based off ty simpkins, but i kind of?? like i mean, yes ty literally plays harley lmao, but also i picture him SLIGHTLY differently in my head. like how he looks in endgame i feel is a different vibe than how ty looks irl. i don't know if that makes any sense at all but i can't explain it, it's just like. he looks like ty but to the left. that's harley in my head. i cannot describe it any other way.

hb peter is 100% tom's peter because homeward bound is 100% canon compliant up to no way home (except for some headcanons such as peter having an uncle ben but uncle ben dying when peter was still really little in order to not fuck with the spidey home trilogy being peter's origin story - there are some other headcanons too that i can't remember off the top of my head, but i tried to make all of them align with mcu as much as possible as to not fuck with canon)

for harry and gwen it's not a spoiler for the most part except for one thing is kinda spoilery but not really? it reveals something about one of their characters that has not been established in the fic yet so just to be safe i'm gonna tag this w the spoiler tag and put it under the cut

okay so i'll start with harry

so there's a lot of variations with harry - sometimes he has brown hair, sometimes reddish hair, usually blue eyes, though i love the idea of him having green eyes because. i mean. duh.

i didn't really think of fan casts for him specifically in hb, i haven't really gone in depth with his appearance in any of the chapters, but @alwaysonlineau made the actor from love, simon, nick robinson, the icon for harry's account and now i kind of can't picture anyone else lmao. nick has hazel eyes which can look greenish at times so i'm here for it. also i loved his acting in jurassic world and in love, simon so i think he could pull off harry pretty damn well.

also i love that nick was in jurassic world with ty lmao. the ages are off obviously, nick is 28 and literally played ty's older brother in that movie, but for the sake of a fan cast i think nick when he was early 20's looks very Harry Osborn to me. at least he feels very fitting for fanon harry.

if someone were to actually play harry in the mcu i don't know if he'd feel super fitting, i've seen people mention harrison osterfield for mcu harry which i could see. i also looked through a list of harry fan casts and david mazouz looks harry like to me a bit. charlie heaton was also listed which idk if he could pull harry off but looks-wise i could kind of see. asher angel. i know timothee chalamet's name has been tossed around a bunch and i mean i think he could do it but he doesn't look like harry to me lmao. they'd have to make his appearance work for it.

maybe charlie rowe, who i also saw listed as a fan cast. asa butterfield was on that list as well and i could see the mcu going that route too. but in homeward bound, i pretty much just envision nick.

as for gwen stacy!

so, i thought this before @alwaysonlineau came back, and i know i'm not the only one because i've seen quite a few posts on here and other sites saying the same thing, especially after across the spider-verse came out and gwen had the trans flag and coloring and such, but i really think that hunter schafer would be an INCREDIBLE gwen.

it hasn't been mentioned in the fic yet (mostly because i didn't think of this until i was already like halfway through the fic and then i didn't officially decide on it until across the spider-verse came out) but gwen is trans in homeward bound. it's gonna be made explicitly clear as soon as i can figure out a fitting reason for why it wouldn't have been mentioned so far - it feels as though, since the fic is peter's pov and he's never mentioned it, it should be that gwen hasn't told him so he doesn't know, which means finding out is going to have to be a thing. not like a huge thing but it's going to have to become a scene of some kind that establishes the fact that she's trans and then also addresses why she didn't tell him/any of them.

i haven't decided on how yet - it might be a super casual thing where she just never thought to mention it because it's just a part of who she is and she doesn't feel the need to tell people because she doesn't think it really matters (and also hunter schafer has stated that she passes as a cis woman i remember seeing an interview after euphoria season one where she was talking about it and how like yeah it's great to have trans inclusion and representation in euphoria but also she knows that she's white and passing and that's probably a big part of why she got the role, which basically i'm mentioning because if hunter were to play gwen then gwen would also be able to pass very easily as a cis woman as well). i might make it a bigger thing, like maybe she experienced something (some kind of transphobia) in the past that made her very wary about telling people and then by the time she wanted to tell them it had been a long time so she didn't know how, etc. etc. etc.

i'm queer but like i'm a cis lesbian not trans or nonbinary or anything, i do have multiple trans friends and i've seen a lot of posts and art and such about different lives and experiences trans people have had but i'm still cis, so if anyone who isn't cis has any input on what they'd like to see, please let me know. i don't want to approach the topic with a lack of sensitivity and i want to have trans rep in hb but if people want it to be a casual thing then that's what i'll do, if people want there to be more to her backstory then i'll do that instead.

but yeah, basically i can REALLY picture hunter as gwen, like some of her acting in euphoria i feel has some potential gwen energy to it (specific scenes, some displays of emotion that i could see gwen having, etc) but also this picture of hunter feels VERY gwen to me:

also also, obviously zendaya is rue in euphoria so her and hunter are friends and have great chemistry together and as a gwemj lover that means a lot to me pdfjg

another possibility i could see is emma meyers, aka enid from wednesday. i think she's a great acctress and could encompass gwen's energy pretty well too, but my first pick would be hunter!

long answer short:

in homeward bound, i picture harry to look like nick robinson and i picture gwen to look like hunter schafer.
