Having a bit of a Dracula splurge. In the middle of listening to the Daisy Edgar-Jones one on Audible which is very good - especially Van Helsing (I am not sure who the voice is ... so annoying when the Audible info doesn't say*) and the only downside is that the carters and sailors are all a bit Dick Van Dyke.
* Have spent about half an hour confirming that the Richard Reed involved is not the same guy as makes the smoothies. Do a proper cast list, Audible!

2022: Francesco Silvestri, drammaturgo, attore teatrale e regista teatrale italiano.

A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court (1921)
Based on Mark Twain’s 1889 novel of the same name, A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur’s Court is significant in the fact that it is the first film adaptation of a Twain’s novel and as the second film about time travel following 1918’s The Ghost of Slumber Mountain.
Directed by Emmett J. Flynn, the silent movie stars Harry Myers as Yankee Martin Cavendish, who following reading Twain’s novel…

Charlie Chaplin's 'City Lights' on Criterion Channel
In 1931, Charlie Chaplin was the lone hold-out in the transition to talking pictures. He wasn’t about to let sound turn the Little Tramp into a talking hobo so he defied convention and created the last silent film to come from a major American studio.
In City Lights (1931), the Little Tramp becomes the guardian angel of a blind flower seller (Virginia Cherrill) who imagines him a rich man.…

There is no way this scene (crude and vulgar in nature) in “City Lights" would have passed the censors in 1936 the year he released “Modern Times” the first film he had to present for such review.
An example of censors in “Modern Times” - instead of intertitle card saying “Dope” he had to use “Nose Powder”. In 1947 “Monsieur Verdoux” his wife Lydia (the battle ax he gets to take money out of her bank”) says “Get to bed”, he had intended for her to say “Come to bed”
Though the Hay’s Code had been around for years, it was not till 1934 that it was strictly enforced. This inadvertently created a new genre of films known as Pre-code; they usually included films from early talkies 1929 till early 1934.

what the slashers got you for valentine’s day
michael: if he even remembered (which is obviously highly unlikely), his gift would be coming home early and hovering over you for the rest of the evening. in his mind, this is romantic intimacy.
jason: a handful of dandelions from the forest and a big hug.
pinhead (1987): they would just ask you what you wanted and get you exactly that. very straightforward! not really the surprise type.
pinhead (2022): would give you the lament configuration and tell you to choose lauderant/love (it’s a pickup line).
norman bates: roses :>
patrick bateman: money for breast implants.
billy lenz: a live rat he found in the attic.
freddy krueger: permission to borrow his hat for the night. what do you mean you don’t want it? of course you do.
billy loomis: nothing. why do you need a present? is he not enough?
stu macher: extremely expensive jewelry!
harry warden: a box of chocolates (there's no heart inside, pinky promise).
herbert west: would ABSOLUTELY forget and end up spending all day in his lab </3.
art the clown: stolen gifts from his victims. lots of jewelry and even articles of clothing.
tiffany valentine: wine, chocolates, and a LOT of physical affection.
