Dear Harry,

I won't ever thank you enough. You story became my story many years ago and it still is today. On the day of your 42nd birthday, I'd like to spend a few words.

Harry, you remain, after all these years, one of the best literary protagonists I've ever heard of, I've ever read about, I've ever come to know. I really can't understand all of those people who say you're kinda too perfect, too kind, too good. You're everything but perfect, but yes, you're good, kind, gentle and this is what I love about you the most. Because you haven't ever cared about other people's thoughts, opinions, about all the tea that has always been spilled.

I recently re-listened to the first chapter of the very first book, and, though I knew it was one of my favorites, now I'm able to understand why I adore it so much. Because it's you. It's all about you. "The boy who lived", I guess, is the perfect incipit, and now I'm mature enough to understand it.

Yo listen. Those saying "she wasn't invited by the other cast" bullshits got me mad. I'm a fan of Harry Potter for a loooong time. When Warner Bros announced to made a reunion for their 20th anniversary. Rupert was busy filming his series, Daniel was working on weird AL movie, Emma was filming in Canada. Aaaaand not to mention Robbie Coltrane (may he rest in peace) was sick and hospitalized.

Did one of them turning their back on that reunion? They didn't! Then comes her fans saying "I guess since the show is cancelled she doesn't have to do anything for that show" huh? Harry Potter was finished 12 years ago. So obviously the contracts for them to promote those movies also ended 12 years ago. They coming back together and did that reunion are them being thankful for the thing that got them to where they are in the industry right now! "Do not forget where you come from" that's professionalism and dedication. What she doing is neither of those things. She wants the benefits of being the main on that series but didn't want to lift one fucking finger to promote it even before that show got cancelled 🤦 I'm telling you she got no work ethic, dedication and professionalism.

Daamn, can't believe I made a rant about her 🖕

Warner Bros. Looks to Close Deal for ‘Harry Potter’ HBO Max Series

Warner Bros Television is looking to close the deal to produce the ‘Harry Potter series as a television series planning to stream on HBO Max. The book’s author JK Rowling will have creative control over “any exploitation of her work.” Hence, Warner Bros is letting Rowling join the project as a producer. HBO Max planned to make Harry Potter into a streaming series a couple of years ago. 

When the idea came about, Tom Ascheim was the Kids, Young Adults, and Classics president, managing the Wizarding World and Potter franchises. From the merger between Warner Bros and Discovery Inc., Ascheim exited the company, but the Harry Potter IP grew. With the greater expansion of the fandom, Warner Bros Discovery released the Harry Potter 20th Anniversary Reunion Special on HBO Max along with Harry Potter: The Hogwarts Tournament of Houses on TBS and the stage production titled Harry Potter and the Cursed Child. More recently, the Hogwarts Legacy was a great success in the video game industry, selling over 12 million copies. With this, fans are even more excited to see what the streaming series might bring for them. Next week, the company plans to hold a press conference announcing its new streaming strategy, containing content from HBO Max and Discovery +.  Rather than having a spin-off of the book series similar to the Fantastic Beasts films, the series will directly be based on the book series. Each season will be from each book, having 7 seasons. The Harry Potter blockbuster feature series started in 2001 and ended in 2011, generating more than $7.7 billion at the global box office. The Harry Potter franchise has interesting rights issues. Although Rowling has a say in everything involved with the property, NBCUniversal made a 7-year rights deal with Warner Bros. Domestic TV Distribution deal in 2016. This includes the US broadcast, cable, and streaming rights of the Wizarding World franchise. This means that Warner Execs would have to make a side deal allowing the Harry Potter features to be streamed on HBO Max. After this deal, it will fully return to NBCUniversal's streamer Peacock. This is about the video streaming industry as it discusses a world-famous IP to be produced and put into a video streaming service. It also shows the complications with video streaming rights as bundles and contracts between numerous streaming companies occur. (Word Count: 392)

Bloomberg reported this morning that Warner Bros. Discovery is nearing a deal to produce a “Harry Potter” television series for HBO Max. As opposed to the more recents spinoffs of the franchise in the past couple years, this project would be directly based on J.K. Rowling’s best-selling book series. Each season would reportedly draw from one of the seven books, suggesting an on-going franchise that could stretch for years. Deadline has since confirmed that Warner Bros is in talks with Rowling to join the project as a producer—a big hurdle to clear as she retains creative control over any exploitation of her work. 

Warner Bros. has been exploring a potential “Harry Potter” television series for a few years now, as the studio has had a long history with the franchise and Rowling. From 2001 to 2011, they adapted each book in the series into a blockbuster feature, which combined generated more than 7.7 billion at the global box office, according to Variety. Those titles, along with the spinoff Fantastic Beasts titles, make up a theatrical library that has grossed more than 9.1 billion to date. Since then, the “Potter” brand has been popularized even more with theme parks, tours, storefronts, and more. 

It’s obvious that the Harry Potter property has remained a dominant cultural force, and will be sure to attract a huge audience given how important quality, existing IP is in today’s content world. According to Deadline, WBD CEO David Zaslov "has stressed multiple times his focus of franchises", identifying Harry Potter as a priority.

While WBD has had recent success with the brand—including the Harry Potter 20th anniversary reunion special, the Harry Potter: Hogwarts Tournament of Houses event series on TBS; and the Hogwarts Legacy video game—a lot can go wrong with this reboot. For one, the original films were extremely well-received, so it will be especially difficult to top that, and recasting the iconic characters is likely to upset loyal fans who have Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, and Rupert Grint engraved in their minds. There is also the issue of JK Rowling herself, whose public image is in shambles after a “seemingly endless string” of transphobic tweets. While it’s very possible the show could be a “slam dunk” for Warner Bros, “it will be an enormous challenge to get this right," says one Forbes Reporter. "It sure does seem like they’re playing with fire here.”
