Can you pls elaborate, do you think Harry meant Louis/gay sex he was ashamed of or he was ashamed that people think that he had sex with his girlfriends?
I think he left it open to interpretation (as he does with everything), but I really see very little reason why a single young man having sex with women or girlfriends would feel so much shame over that fact. Sure, you could twist and turn yourself into a pretzel in order to blame larries for Harry's shame, but you'd be showing yourself to be an idiot who doesn't understand the first thing about closeting.
Straight musicians have hidden their relationships from their fans in order to allow fans to fantasize that they have a chance with them. But would a man who's splashed over every tabloid as being a sex maniac who sleeps with 450 women in a year, whom every woman who stands next to him (no matter her age or relationship status) is said to be sleeping with him, who's literally marketed as a straight sex symbol, be ashamed of who he was having sex with if it was women? Why? If you look at the years and years of Harry's comments and behaviors, the only reason that makes any sense for him to have felt any shame about who he might be having sex with is that he's closeted.

I forgot how exhausting it was when Harry is publicly "single" bc fandom starts tracking every skinny bitch who's in a 5 mile radius of him

hey) I'm reading a bukowski (aka harry's favourite poet is I remember correctly?) poetry collection right now and I was wondering if we as a fandom knew that because I wasn't here when the album came out so I might have missed people talking about it? so I saw he has a poem called bluebird (which is already 🤔), but then I read it and and omg he's talking about a "bluebird" living inside him and him not letting this "bluebird" out because it would ruin his career!!! (I don't have the book at hand right now sorry you should read it yourself probably my memory is shit) harry would definitely connect to it, wouldn't he, see his situation with glass closet in it and maybe that's what he's referencing when talking about a bluebird?
hey babe!! yeah we have been dabbling in bukowski, or at least i have (esp in my only angel post, a song that features bukowski writing at the beginning). i know for sure that not nearly every reference has been unearthed. i don't think it's possible to get them all tbh. i'm not an avid poetry reader, but i have to admit i like bukowski's poetry from time to time. this one, bluebird, was brought to my attention after harry's house! you can read a post here but it's just us screaming into the void jhsgfd. but now that you've sent this to me and i'm bored at work i figured i'd dive a little deeper.
There's a bluebird in my heart that Wants to get out but I'm too tough for him I say, stay in there, I'm not going To let anybody see you There's a bluebird in my heart that Wants to get out But I pour whiskey on him and inhale Cigarette smoke And the whores and the bartenders And the grocery clerks never know that He's in there
'bluebird', unclear as to what that means to the poet. but it's soft <> tough. ~"somewhere over the rainbow bluebirds fly," from the wizard of oz / "if i was a bluebird, i would fly to you," daylight. strong associations with the queer identity // a desire to fly away: sott, if i could fly, matilda, etc.
this paragraph is so hs1 to me. drinking, smoking, getting high, having sex, anything to think about what's truly inside of you. then i can't help but think about fine line's "we'll get the drinks in, so i get to thinking of her" where it's the other way around.
the bluebird is also real to bukowski, he's undeniably inside of him, he doesn't try to disprove that. he just hides him by keeping up a different persona, by having a hardened outer shell. // harry and his image
'i'm too tough for him' implies that it's his own choice to keep his bluebird hidden
There's a bluebird in my heart that Wants to get out but I'm too tough for him I say, Stay down, do you want to mess Me up? You want to screw up the Works? You want to blow my book sales in Europe? There's a bluebird in my heart that
the implication that if you show your true inner self, you don't sell as well. what secret about you could possibly fuck over your career? - brings the hiding of the bluebird in a new light, since this is an external motivation to change who you are
~"what if i'm down, what if i'm out? what if i'm someone you won't talk about?", falling
~"put a price on emotion, i'm looking for something to buy. you've got my devotion, but man i can hate you sometimes," fine line
~"i'm not going to get lost, i'm not going to go broke, staying cool," mfasr
Wants to get out But I'm too clever, I only let him out At night sometimes when everybody's asleep I say, I know that you're there So don't be sad Then I put him back But he's singing a little In there, I haven't quite let him die And we sleep together like that With our secret pact And it's nice enough to make a man Weep, but I don't weep, do You?
this reminds me of harry saying he feels most beautiful when he's asleep.
~"just stop your crying, it's a sign of the times"
it just fits so much of harry's art, where he pretends to be someone he's not and tries to come to terms with how people see him or how he sees himself. bukowski spent a lot of his career struggling with who he was, and same goes for harry. even though he's clearly in a more accepting era, he still battles with that split in his life - public and private.
i also think the poem's ending can be seen in a more positive light, as the poet taking control of his life and his privacy. he determines what others see of him. in this layered poem, where the poet makes it seem like he's acting of his own volition by keeping his bluebird tucked away from view, but actually lets it be known that he kind of has to, the issue of one's identity in the industry is prodded at. i think for harry, in a life where he has very little control anyway, his decision to put a giant lock on his private life is about the only one he could make. he probably could still have a personal instagram or twitter acc if he wanted to, showing non-descriptive holiday pics or whatever. he chooses not to, and this is only in recent years that he's begun to be more and more secretive. because maybe it's either all or nothing to him. either the cage is shut or the bluebird flies free

You mentioned about what the GP really sees when it comes to Harry and I can say I am in several groups that aren’t fans of Harry. It’s not that they don’t not like him, its that they just don’t think about him at all. They get all their info about him from the media. If he comes up in conversation (ok, so it’s always by me) the answers I get are:
-isn’t he the guy who wears dresses all the time? -or-
-isn’t he the one who is trying to be “interesting” with women’s clothing and pride flags but is really a straight f-boy? -or-
-he has to be gay because I don’t know any straight man that wouldn’t have been all over OW all the time even in public because she so f-ing hot. (Yes, this was from a straight man)
-Watermelon Sugar is about oral sex with women. He straight.
And finally, none, not one person in any of these groups have ever brought up either DWD or My Policeman or music outside of WS, AIW, or SOTT. That’s it. No interest in learning anything else about him or digging into his music.
That's very discouraging. 😕

hi cc, what is the idea of you and what are people hating on it?
Hi anon. I will put my answer below because is too long and I'm unable to explain it short.
The idea of you is a book that now is having a screen adaptation on prime, here is the trailer. Acording to the author Robinne Lee she was inspired by a guy in a boyband, here is her quote:
A few years ago, my husband was away on business and I was up late surfing music videos on YouTube when I came across the face of a boy I’d never seen in a band I’d never paid attention to, and it was so aesthetically perfect it took me by surprise. It was like…art. I spent a good hour or so Googling and trying to figure out who this kid was and in doing so I discovered that he often dated older women, and so the seed was planted. When my husband returned a couple of days later, I joked with him that I’d found the perfect guy and I was leaving him and our two kids, “oh, and by the way, he’s half my age.”
So basically initially she was inspired by Harry Styles, here are some tweets of her talking about the character. Then in other interview mentions that is a combination of different guys:
I made him into my dream guy,” she told me, “like Prince Harry, meets Harry [Styles],” plus a couple of ex-boyfriends, a little of her husband, and a dash of Eddie Redmayne.
I think the movie is being controversial because first is inspired by Harry dating older women since he was younger, according to the author the character is 20, but the womaniser image that Harry had and that likes and dates older women and this image started when he was 17, a minor.
This idea of Harry liking older women, just reduce him as an artist just to that image that has been know for the general public is just frustrating. And also in the articles and social media talking about the movie they had been making the comparison between photos of Nicholas and Harry.
Tumblr media
Nicholas said this quote about if the character is inspired by Harry Styles:
“We tried to create a character that felt, you know, a kin to Harry in a sense that he’s a younger man dating older women. It was important to create someone who felt new and original and not a shoddy impersonation of this person.”
Anything that mentions Harry Styles will always bring attention and clicks so the promo of the movie know what they are doing, and this is nothing against Nicholas, the book is just inspired by Harry and the movie is promoted with that idea.
Now the second problem is that the songwriter and producer of the album of the movie of this fictional boyband is Savan Kotecha. If you are not aware he is a producer and songwriter and was involved with One Direction since The X Factor and work for the first two albums of the band. Savan is a person not liked in the fandom, because he basically never wanted the boys to be part of the songwriting, he saw the band as this machine, never saw the boys as artists and said awful things about Louis. He is one of the persons responsable that Louis didn't get that much solos, read this transcript for more info.
Savan also in that interview explains that couldn't see the boys as this grown young adults that wanted to write songs, because he knew them since they started and didn't think they would have the ability to do so (he was wrong as we know). So Savan left after the second album, now his association with this movie that is related to Harry and 1D is his way of trying to stay relevant again in the fandom.
This is my perspective, but anyone can have a different POV of what the movie is hated and probably they would explain better than me. Sorry for the long response as you can't see I can't write short answers.

He's gotta have tension behind the scenes with his team but how do you think something like this gets approved? Do you think it's too obscure that his team doesn't even notice all the symbolism he's using? Like is he using their own ignorance against them to get things like this approved? Or do you think he has carte blanche to do what he wants with videos/stage/songs?
I'm just so confused how he can put out AIW, LNT, and now this video while being with a team that seems to want him to portray the very thing he despises portraying...
What do you think?
no i don't think it's obscure at all it's very blatantly obvious. like if us, the people who only have second hand knowledge about things bts and can only speculate things, if we can piece together the actual subtext within seconds of watching the mv, then i think you'd have to be on a completely different level of self-centredness to not realise what exactly this mv is about. i think currently harry is at a stage where he has a lot more artistic control in terms of the things he wants to put out - music, videos, shows etc and that definitely at the end of the day he gets the final say in what gets released. however, his team gets a bit of control in what narrative they want to spread. so it's like "hey i am putting this out i don't care this is what i want and this is what will go out and you can spin it however you want but yep. this is it. this is my album. this is my video" and that's where the transactional nature comes in a bit. so they're like "okay you can put this out, but in exchange we need a pap walk. or a pleasing drop" or something. and that's why it's no coincidence that harry was recently papped with miss cockburn and his friends because that sort of establishes that "ooh look they're besties surely he's not shading them" and it's very easy to spin the narrative however you want when you have big money and stuff. all the people involved, no matter how close they seem, are contractually involved and that's why everything is transactional in nature.

Favorite H quote of Venice panel for DWD:
INT: I’d like to include the cast in how was to enter this world which is very much between reality and stylization, and maybe we can start with you, Harry.
H: Is this…[messing with microphone buttons] Um, yeah, I think it was, it’s fun to kind of get to play in worlds that aren’t necessarily your own, um, so kind of, you know, this world that’s supposedly so perfect, it’s um, it’s obviously really fun to play kind of pretend in it, and you know, it’s like driving fun cars, and a lot of fun stuff.
So I think, uh, it’s kind of just nice to, like, I think we were looking to have that world kind of built so well around us that it meant we could kind of play, um, kind of in reality for us rather than like pretending that everything was, you know, nice, or…. It wasn’t too much like acting, I don’t think, in terms of in the world that you’re in, it was really kind of created very well for us, so that was really fun.
Gemma Chan attempts to rescue, says she agrees with Harry, and praises everyone – “set design, hair and makeup, cinematographers” except the director.
Chris Pine: pokes at his tongue, stares at ceiling, wills himself to be vanished, then gives a very thoughtful answer
It’s funny, but at the same time it isn’t.  Because it’s yet ANOTHER piece of evidence of Harry’s team’s mismanagement - and his own complacency in it. Harry’s team’s preferred strategy of having him prevaricate and be a blank slate for everyone to fill in the blank with their own fantasy. Radio DJs and music mags usually fill in the blanks for him and tease him, so it comes off as charming. Here, that strategy makes him appear “adorably slow” and certainly unprepared to be taken seriously.  At some point, if Harry wants to be taken seriously, he’s going to need to give more than pleasantly vague word salad answers.

About the leaked scenes from My Policeman:
Take a minute to think about: why the leaked was only from sex scenes?
A few people are dealing with those scenes with a oversexualization without considering the premises from the movie which were talked about it yesterday in large scale, infortuly, they're flirting with the obnoxious concept that was use to sold DWD - sex by sex, a meaningless mechanic act between two humans.
The story, the cast, the production deserves a proper recognition and respect. And the sex scenes from My Policeman should be look at with a delicate point of view that it's draw by the story - there is no need to read the book to know that it's tears to the begin until the end.
While blushing Harry said "now people will know how I kiss" and now people are talking about how he moan.
It's sad.

Harry leaving behind hundreds of high-heeled shoes at his old house is the most Harry thing he's ever done.
Not shoes - heels, they said.
Tumblr media
Mainly my question is why? Did he grow tired of these particular ones? Did O dump them to try embarrassing him?
Did he leave them to create a new piece of the narrative, that he wears 👠 at home?
He's talked about wearing dresses casually a lot but not heels beyond a few photo shoots.
But he sure looked comfortable in the Dorothy heels and nobody does when they're new at heels soooo

Hiya Gina. First thank you so much for answering everyone’s questions and being such a lifeline in this fandom. I was thinking this PR push with TR is probably a little bit in response to that god-awful movie right? because the movie that so obviously copies his likeness will cause the general public to have a spike of attention to his relationships so it’s real convenient to have these recent sightings so that people don’t look into things his team wants quiet. cause to me it seems movie interest—> “established girlfriend”—> new album (likely including love songs) is a pretty clean narrative. also I have to wonder if his team was/is in contact with amazon? it all seems like such a legal gray area even more than after
Hi, sweetheart. I think perhaps that's part of their calculations since the film opened today. In general, the low-key "realistic" relationship seems to be happening in order to draw a clear distinction with the fiasco that was Holivia, and possibly to set the stage for themes on his next album.
As for the legality of that shitty film, the book it's based on has been out since 2017, and we've all been aware for some time that the movie was being made, so I think if there was anything they felt was lawsuit-worthy, they'd have done it a while ago. However, what was interesting was the very obvious back-peddling that suddenly happened with the promo. Harry's name was heavily linked to the book when it came out and the film when they first started talking about it. Then, all of a sudden, they're saying how the Hayes character is just an interpretation and is a completely distinct character, blah, blah, blah. Perhaps Harry's team did have something to say after all.

Het harries making lists of people "for" harry and on top of that, they're all women , they don't even want to think that Harry might be queer
Tumblr media
Oh please, to them Harry is just a character. They only try to pick that girl they can identify with the most, so they can keep projecting it could be them.
Fair to say, Olivia didn't really provide the proper canvas for 90% of het harries, she was far out of the fanbase demographics, and hardly anyone could really relate to her strange world views and lifestyle.
Isn't it remarkable how all of them faked to be supportive of Harry's love life, but now they can't wait to create a narrative that's more in favor of their own preferences. Of course that also means, they could have a shot with him now. LOL.

Article below. Read it if you can.
The discourse surrounding Harry Styles is many things, but one thing it literally ALWAYS is is exhausting. Harry Styles has reached the calibre of celebrity and fandom that whatever move he makes, how he chooses to do his hair, what he chooses to wear all spark conversation and debate. It feels like for years now the odiously boring conversation on whether Harry Styles has been “queerbaiting” or not is a never ending pollution across social media and the more yawn inducing side of Reddit – but now, it’s pivoted in a new direction thanks to how Harry Styles looked when he went to watch a footie game the other day, with people saying he’s now “straight again”. O-kay.
Tumblr media
Just a very bizarre opinion to be fronted with, in my opinion. And even more bizarre to see it’s currently sitting on 138,000 likes – which either means that many people genuinely believe such trite nonsense or they think it’s funny. It’s got to a boring area of the discourse where it doesn’t matter if Harry Styles rocks up in the pretty bog standard, neutral outfit he did or wears a feather boa as per his Love On Tour era – he’d be spoken about with the word queerbaiting not fair behind.
I think where this gets really problematic is that it’s sort of all centred on the nonsensical. If Harry Styles is bi, gay, queer – any of those things being entirely his business to keep to himself or share when he wants – then why would he suddenly not be if he wears a muted colour, goes the footie or cuts his hair shorter? I feel like the fact I’m even having to voice this makes me feel like I’ve fell down a time slip to 2010 or something. And what I find even more baffling is that the outfit in question is a shirt and sweater vest, big 70s vibes – isn’t that how Harry’s been dressing for … years? So we’re saying all this Harry Styles ‘is straight again’ because he’s cropped his hair short? Do me a favour.
Tumblr media
Was particularly riled at this one, which suggests the reason that Harry Styles isn’t walking into a footie match with a feather boa on and some pink palazzo trousers is because Love On Tour has ended and so has the album cycle – therefore he has not interest in… Your guess is as good as mine. No interest in being gay, of which he more than likely isn’t anyway? No interest in appealing to gays? Why are we pretending that over half of every stadium on Love On Tour wasn’t filled with heterosexual women?
It’s all just very weird, to be honest with you. I am writing this as a gay man, and whether Harry Styles is presenting himself in whatever way he’s seen fit I have never once felt “queerbaited”. I have not spent the last few years of my life thinking Harry Styles was LGBTQ+ – just that he was a massive ally and someone who wasn’t afraid to be a bit flamboyant from time to time. Even if he was gay or bi or whatever it would make a grand total of zero difference to my life or to my enjoyment of his music.
If your first thought when you see a pop star with shorter hair at a footie game is “oh, Harry Styles is straight again” – you need an urgent life.
