Pictures above taken by my big sister! 🐇
Last time I posted about the “school uniform” Honey cosplay I made in 2009, which was truly a thing of “babbu’s first cosplay” aesthetics. My Wonderland Honey from 2010 was a lot better, but it’s largely thanks to my much more skilled friend Minna who took care of all the hard parts.
At this point, I was still using my own hair, but at least it was actually blonde now! Not the right shade, though, but closer.
The bunny pants and paws were patterned and sewed by Minna. The jacket was not made from scratch, but modified from an existing jacket – again by Minna, because I wasn’t dexterous enough to sew bias tapes that nicely.
You can really see how my logical thinking and attention to detail have changed over the years when you look at the parts I was in charge of here. All of those parts were based on recycled materials – and I have to emphasize that recycling is always good! It’s never not cool! The cosplay I’m currently working on is largely made out of recycled materials, too. The problem is I did not choose my materials too well...
The base for the bunny ears was, well, children’s bunny ears I had lying around. I just covered them with other fabrics. That was okay, even if the ears ended up a bit on the smaller side and didn’t look that neat on the inside. The insides don’t need to be pretty when you’re not competing! (I say this to myself and immediately continue obsessing about inseams in my present-day cosplays...)
Calling the turquoise piece of clothing a “vest” is highly generous because it was, in reality, a stretchy tank top. Baby me didn’t think about what the costume parts actually are supposed to be, I just saw something turquoise and bought the first turquoise thing that came across for cheap and added some buttons.
The “scarf” is a scrap of fabric I cut out of a (again, stretchy) hoodie I wasn’t using anymore – and I must say, recycling is always good! It’s never not cool! Except I didn’t hem the piece in any way, so I had to make sure it always stayed in the right position so you couldn’t see the edges. And then there was the decorative button, which was – I SHIT YOU NOT – two buttons attached to each other with Blu-Tack.
Tumblr media
I’m glad I documented this when I purged all of my old costumes a few years back. You can’t make this shit up!
I stand by my “baby me was adorable”. I almost wish I could sometimes reach the same level of “close enough” attitude and creativity nowadays. 😂

Some sketches I did of Roselle (or 'Rusell' since she was trying to pass as a male at NRC) ft. Grim and Floyd.

Saw someone else do this and wanted to make my own. Also before you ask, no I'm not a kinnie nor am I in the kinnie fandom.

I don't know if you've read or watched Ouran High School Host Club, but the Leech twins ask makes me think of the Hitachiin twins. We learn Tamaki and Haruhi can tell the differences between them bc they actually like KNOW the twins well and pay attention to them. The same probably goes for the Leech twins! Someone who spends a lot of time with them like Azul and players can tell them apart but people who don't like Grim and Adeuce wouldn't be able to tell the difference. I hope that made sense!

Oh, I think I know what you're talking about! I've only seen the anime, so I believe that's episodes 5 (Haruhi and the twins) and 20 (Tamaki and the twins). Now that you've mentioned it, I do see parallels between the relationship of the Leeches/Hitachiins and Azul/Tamaki. Their personalities aren't really that similar to one another, but it's interesting how it was both Azul and Tamaki who started their own "thing" (ie the business/the host club) that ended up bringing them and the twins together. In Azul's case, the Leeches first approached him because they found him interesting, but in Tamaki's case, he was the one to approach the Hitachiins and extend the offer to join his newly formed club. It reflects different levels of outgoingness in Azul and Tamaki's natures, as well as different motives behind their actions. The same also applies to the twins themselves; Jade and Floyd approached Azul because they wanted to be amused, and the Hitachiins agreed to join Tamaki's host club because he bested them at their own game (which was a hit to their pride; they had to keep the promise). Previously, all the Hitachiins had was their other twin. They are notably pictured alone and holding hands with one another, being untrustful and unkind to outsiders, using isolating terms like "us" and "them", and making intentional moves to keep others out of their lives (with their "Guess Which Twin is Which" game). We see much more subtle, open-to-interpretation implications of "only having the other brother" with Jade and Floyd, who have noted that they "chose" each other, but don't always relish in basking in solely their twin's company. It's clear that Jade and Floyd are the two who are more independent of one another, whereas the Hitachiins kind of come as a package.
If you think about it, while Azul's business ventures are what first attracted the twins to him, his initial attitude was more like the Hitachiins than like Tamaki's. Azul was the one shutting others out by acting in revenge, and he was the one who was distrustful of the people around him... yet it was only through the twins reaching out to him (albeit for selfish personal reasons) that allowed Azul to become as successful as he is, and that allowed him to grow from that crybaby octopus he once was. I'm delusional so/j I like to think that it's the little details like this that make Azul, Jade, and Floyd's relationship with one another that much more complex.
I think it's quite salient to note that Tamaki couldn't tell which twin was which right away. He screwed his guesses up many times before finally being able to tell which was Hikaru and which was Kaoru. It's only through observing others and continued exposure that he can really get a grasp on them as individuals, and I'd wager that the same goes for the characters in Twisted Wonderland. For example, Riddle always used to get Jade and Floyd mixed up. It is said that Jade gave him a hint to remember which twin was "Jade" (Jade's black hair stripe forms a "J"-like curve). However, I think it would make sense if a lot of this learning of discrimination comes from Riddle's own continued experiences with the twins. Jade is a classmate in his homeroom, while Floyd ambushes Riddle in random places (like the library) to bother him. Constantly being in their presence no doubt also played a part in helping Riddle distinguish between the two. This would also explain why Azul, who has known them since middle school, as well as other second years (whom the twins likely share classes with) and even third years (who have seen them around school) can tell them apart, whereas a lot of the fresh-faced characters like the first years and Grim cannot, especially when they first encounter Jade and Floyd.

Ok I rewatched half of ouran on the train and it just confirmed how mandatory it should be to read the Manga if you liked the anime in any capacity. I actually think watching the anime first and then reading the manga is the best order. In all the storylines that the anime covered there are even more little moments and details and layers in the manga and it’s sooooooo funny I cannot stress how funny it is. And then while reading you catch up to all the stuff the anime showed and THEN you get another nine volumes of new moments with your best friends from the host club

Twisted Wonderland iceberg

Explanations ahead (slight spoiler warning)
Tier 1:
everything is self-explanatory, I think
Tier 2:
Haruhi = the protagonist of Ouran High School Host Club. She's a girl who dresses up as a boy (correct me if I'm wrong) and many players who have a female MC consider theirs to be like Haruhi. [EDIT: Thanks for the anon pointing out that I misspelled the name!]
Tier 3:
self-explanatory
Tier 4:
A fair amount of people headcanon Vil as a trans woman because he presents androgynously/feminine and doesn't care about gender roles. This has also caused discussion in the fandom because breaking gender roles ≠ trans.
Tier 5:
People sometimes wish TWST was more like a dating sim and had character/dorm routes.
Some people headcanon that Silver is based on Prince Philip (from Sleeping Beauty) and/or is a prince himself. I haven't played all of book 7 yet (only the parts out in the ENG server) so idk if the theory has been proven right.
Lilia is old and hints at dying soon.
Hot NPCs, such as Deuce's mom and Sebek's grandpa.
Ace and Deuce have expressed interest in Yuu at various points in the game.
Genshin VAs: Leona/Alhaitham, Silver/Kazuha, Idia/Razor are the ones I can think of
Tier 6:
A beastman (I think it was Jack) has stated that he has problems talking to animals, and Ruggie's talent at it is considered something special.
The tweels are considered intersex by some due to eel anatomy (I'm no eel expert).
Kalim is considered the real villain by some due to never really bothering to help Jamil.
Epel's backstory/attitude has many elements that a fair amount of trans men relate to.
There are theories that Lilia and Sebek are twisted from Peter Pan characters. I'm unsure about Silver, but I think I've read something about him being from another movie, too!
Tier 7:
Some people headcanon that Ace has experienced domestic abuse.
There's a theory that Ace will betray Yuu.
Cater has two sisters who boss him around, which is a resemblance to Cinderella.
Malleus might have two pps because well... dragon.
Epel and Deuce had a whole ass beach date. Deuce constantly cares for him and broke the school rules in order to make Epel feel better. Their scenes together (the settings) looked straight out of a shoujo manga. If Epel were a girl, this ship would be considered canon by most.
I'm not sure EXACTLY which languages Jade's VA speaks, but I do remember that he knows German.
In one of his Halloween vignettes, Ruggie — as opposed to Lilia — has indirectly expressed that he has no interest in romance/relationships.
Tier 8:
UH.

so like... correct me if i'm wrong, but the cschool in twst wonderland is supposed to be an all-boys school, correct? but the mc in the game is technically gender-neutral. so, you could be playing as a fem!mc but the narrative just doesn't question it... and *that* makes me think about how the school has so many lil femboys running around that gender lines blurred...
just imagining a fem!mc not hiding that they're a girl but just. never being asked. they never correct anyone's gendered assumptions bc there's a lot more reasons they're not supposed to be at the college than just not being a boy... fem!mc finally getting figured out (think haruhi from ohshc type shenanigans) and everyone just being *bewildered*. and mc's just like "... yeah idk what to tell you guys... nobody asked?"
you could honestly be very visibly fem at the college and no one would question it bc some people look more feminine but that doesn't mean they're not boys. so everyone just assumes you're like that. just the idea of everyone being so caught off guard bc gendered assumptions aren't as prevalent there and their bro, their homie, is actually a *girl*. and then nothing really changing after the initial discovery bc in the end you not using magic is MUCH more odd than you being the only girl
