Wrote a 100 word drabble about McNamara for @hatchetober day 1 fhfhfhc
Prompt: dark
It was dark. So, so dark. He’d gotten used to it by now, though. He didn’t know how much time had passed, or whether they had defeated Wiggly, he only knew that it was over for him.
“It’s been an honor to serve,” he had said to President Goodman.
“Sure,” was the president’s reply.
Thinking back on it, McNamara wondered where he had gone wrong. “Sure.” What kind of a reply was that?
But no use worrying about it now. All that was left was dark. He could only hope the fate of the world was less… dark than his.

Hatchetober day 5: Friend
Hannah Foster wasn't an ordinary child. At age five she was talking to trees, herself, and thin air. Lex worried for her sister, Pamela could've cared less about her younger daughter. Lex worried that Hannah wasn't making any friends. But Hannah had a friend. "Webby!" Hannah called into the Witchwood. "Hello Hannah" The voice responded happily. Hannah had a friend, and her friend would protect her. She had too. She needed to save this child. Hannah was Hatchetfield's last hope.

Hatchetober day 10: Run
"Run Hannah run!" Lex screamed after her sister as she tried to fight off the alien hoard. Hannah ran through the Witchwood with Webby's voice clear in her mind. Left, right, left. Lex followed her sister, both of them running full speed through the trees. "Hannah if we climb a tree we can escape them!" Lex called ahead. "NO! Webby says bad idea!" Hannah frantically called back. The sisters ran deeper and deeper into the woods until suddenly the trees cleared and they found themselves in a small clearing with a pure white house. Hannah and Lex both collapsed breathless in front of it. The door opened and a woman with silky pure white clothes and hair stepped out. "Webby" Hannah gasped weakly. Webby smiled. "They can't get to you here. You're safe. Now let's hurry inside, we only have so much time" Lex slowly got up and helped Hannah to her feet. "Time for what?" she asked. "Time to come up with a plan to stop my brother from taking over the world."

Hatchetober day 24: Care
Ted Spankofski did not care. He did not care if Charlotte Sweetly loved him. He did not care about how cute she looked in the oversized sweaters she always wore, he did not care about how soft and warm her hand felt in his, he did not care about how her lips tasted like coffee and peppermint. Honestly he didn't care. So why did every mention of couples therapy with Sam, every "Sam will be home soon, you'd better go," every "but I love Sam!" make him feel so bad? Try as he might, he did care. He cared for her.

Hatchetober day 21: Witch
She hadn't known she was a witch. Not initially anyway. She'd had a few strange things happen in her life but she'd thought they were coincidences. It wasn't until that day that she knew. And the town knew. And she would have to pay for her crimes.

Hatchetober day 18: Spider
It was a generally agreed upon fact that the children at Hatchetfield elementary school hated spiders. It was generally agreed upon by everyone except Hannah Foster. Somehow the girl found spiders comforting, and fascinating. She liked watching them spin their webs of pure white spider silk, the way the lines of the web fell into a linear pattern and caught annoying flies. It was a normal Tuesday afternoon in early October and while other children were playing on the playground Hannah sat on the sidewalk watching a spider scuttle along. "Ew a spider!" One of her classmates exclaimed. "Kill it Hannah!" Yelled another. Hannah just ignored them and continued to watch the spider. "If you won't kill it I will" said a boy in Hannah's class. "No!" Hannah exclaimed, quickly scooping up the spider. "Ew Hannah's holding a spider! Run!" a girl shouted. The other children ran off back to the playground and Hannah took the spider over to a small green shrub. "Here friend" she said, gently placing the arachnid onto the plant. The bell rang and Hannah and the other children all scurried inside as the spider watched from the plant. You've got a good heart Hannah. She thought. Webby knew that Hannah was going to be alright.
