HAPPY PRIDE MONTH, ALPHABET MAFIA
just a few reminders:
- first pride was a riot
- black & BIPOC queer people are the foundation of our entire nation and the global culture
- we owe most of our rights and progress to BIPOC trans women/femmes and different communities of lesbians, trans/gnc folks and elders.
- trans people have always existed, they are ancient and indigenous to many cultures and places and are SACRED.
- I’m glad you’re here and there is community out there for you, waiting with open arms. Don’t give up just yet, please.
- rainbow capitalism isn’t liberation
- we are all we have, be fucking better to each other
- lesbians have done so much for lgbtqia+ people and should maybe idk stop being erased for no reason
- biphobia is real and just bc your ex cheated on you doesn’t make it bi folks fault, you’re projecting babe
- being queer doesn’t dissolve white privilege, pls touch grass
- be safe at pride. they’re coming for us all and we need to protect ourselves.
- not everyone wants to use the word queer/dyke/fag etc. I’m glad you reclaimed the slurs used against you, me too, but not everyone wants to and you need to respect that. LGBTQIA+* exists for a reason.
- the black and brown belong on the flag.
- the A is for asexual/romantic or agender, not ally.
- get some pussy (or whatever you do (or don’t do)) and make space for joy! because black/queer joy is revolutionary and fucking righteous just as much as our anger is, too
- Juneteenth coming up too, issa parade in my city fr
- asexuals/aromantics belong at pride. Period. Full stop.
- safe sex is the best sex
- get tested!
- it’s okay to not watch the news. america is hell, go take a nap
- people 100% know themselves better than you ever will, people are who they say they are and you don’t get to decide that for them. respect pronouns, identity, etc. or argue w ya mama/god/someone else cause it ain’t finna be me ❤️
- you deserve relationships that feel safe and actually are safe. Don’t settle.
- learn your queer history. they won’t teach us. they took our elders from us.
- Black LGBTQIA+* history IS Black History.
- we all need to be thankful to the house mothers and the ballroom scene and those who gave us what we have now, regardless of who you are.
- don’t call yourself a stud if you’re not BLACK. wit a capital B and at least one BLACK parent.
- not everyone is out. happiest of pride month to y’all. you’re still gang and we love you just as much. 💗
- our collective liberation lies in the fact that we are all tied to each other. if you’re down for the gays but not the theys, you’re not as decolonized as you think you are.
- shout out to fanfiction writers who have been single-handedly providing queer art/content/representation for years while the industry continues to make a mockery of us or intentionally leave us out. one thing we gonna do is help someone find their queer awakening, and get that story right. love us 🤪 go team
- your life means something. it’s important beyond comprehension. you look good. your ass is fat (if you want it to be). get the mullet as a lil treat.
- LGBTQIA+* people across the board have ALWAYS existed in literally every culture and every continent (and Antarctica counts if you count the cute lil gay penguins😌). Don’t let them tell you different. We are not a “mInOrItY”, we have been MINORITIZED. we are not small, we are great and mighty and have ALWAYS been here. And we always will. We exist in the future just as we have existed in the past. We stand on the shoulders of MASSIVE collective ancestors. If that’s not an indication to keep going, keep fighting, keep laughing, dancing, voguing, and keep showing up authentically - then I don’t know what is.
- it’s gonna be ok baby. pinkie promise.

seeking recs: Black LGBTQ romance novels!
hiiiii besties! I'm currently planning some upcoming polls for my patreonites, who get to vote on a new romance novel for me to subject myself to every month, and I thought that since in June we celebrate both Pride and Juneteenth, combining the two and focusing on queer Black romances would be fun.
FAQ:
this needs to be a *Romance* *Novel*, please, not a novel that happens to have a romance in it. there is a difference!
no YA sorryyyyy
I am seeking Black authors, non-negotiable.
LGBTQ romance, also non-negotiable, but that could mean a lot of different things. gay, lesbian, bi, ace, trans, nonbinary, you name it, I want 'em.
the author does not need have openly identified as part of the LGBTQ community to qualify.
the book doesn't have to be "good," however you define that. I'm seeking as many options to been from as possible; quantity > quality in this case lmao.
if the book is only available as an e-book I'm sorry but that's a no from me, I'm a print girlie
pls don't recommend D'Vaughn and Kris Plan a Wedding, I've read it!
okay thank you, pls pop off now and don't let me down the single time I have ever asked for book recommendations.

I'm so sorry for dropping out of this app for like... two years 💀💀 Sounds like great fun to go to the beach with friends and hubby and- most importantly- puppers. Did you ever post photos of puppy? (You probably did but I see you as the kind of dog mom who will never be bothered by the request.) Good luck with the interview. I actually have been doing some grass touching this summer! 🤩I went to a concert and pridefest and am going on a trip with some friends to an airbnb early next month. Other than skz, what groups are you keeping up with these days? Ateez is my ult rn, Yunho biased. I gotta change my aesthetic here lol. I casually keep up with so many groups tho. My chronic onlineness did not disappear it moreso just changed to discord than tumblr 😭 sorry for the longass message but it is extremely overdue so it's fine (right?)
When it comes to you bby, EVERYTHING is fine 🥰🥰🥰 but omg your summer sounds so fun!!! I can't wait to hear about your airbnb trip 💗
I actually missed pride for our beach trip (portland delayed a month because of juneteenth 🥴🥴) but I saw twice last month!!! and I'm still in love with itzy 😍 I also need to update my blog, I just think my aesthetics changed a little bit since I first settled on this layout 🤔
but AHHH my puppy here you go I love him so much 😭💕

Gonna say this here since I think y'all on Tumblr are more intelligent and less quick to react than ppl on Twitter.
I see others supporting the LGBTQ+ this month every year. Why don't I support? The reason why is because that group is doing alright. Much better than my people are. Being gay is still more acceptable than being black. And even when it wasn't, a gay person could at least hide their sexuality. A black person is black all the time. So, why should I who is part of a group of ppl who is positioned at the bottom in the country try to help a group who has more support than I do? Y'all keep getting yours while we keep trying to get ours. Support from me isn't needed when way more people support the LGBTQ+ group than they support my people. But ppl think if you dont support them then you are against them. Can't I just help myself and my people like everyone else does? So have fun celebrating Pride Month & I hope y'all have a good one. Imma celebrate Juneteenth.
Now... Do I dislike the LGBTQ+ group? No. Also I refer to that group as Queer since that is an umbrella term & I don't see the point of writing the acronym "LGBTQIA2S+" and all those other letter. I only know what half of those letters stand for without looking it up. Queer is easier to say and is an umbrella term. I dont understand why that term isn't used instead. Many use that term in a positive way now. The acronym is just too unnecessarily long. But back to what I was saying... I dont dislike any of them/y'all. My people are more than likely the most disliked people in the world. So why would I have hatred for other people and make them feel how we do nearly every day of our lives? I wouldn't. That just ain't my style. I've depicted bi characters in my art & I plan to depict lesbian, gay, & trans in my art too. I just don't like to talk as if I'm some supporter and ally. I dont like virtue signaling. When I eventually draw a comic about Kale & Caulifla, it just is what it is. When I eventually draw a comic about a trans character & a character who has shown some hints of possibly being gay, it is what it is.
And no, I won't say who the possibly gay character or trans character is. That is a surprise! But the series has hinted that the character I believe is gay is probably "in the closet." That's gonna be a fun comic to draw, but it won't be sexually explicit. Just sexually suggestive because as a straight man, I'm not interested in male on male stuff. But I can write stories about any sexuality so long as I understand it and the characters well.

good morning to all my fellow african americans, happy juneteenth (and fathers day but mostly juneteenth) y’all!! i hope you have a great day celebrating the fathers/father figures in your lives, and celebrating being your black, beautiful self. and let the church say, “amen!”
if you’re nb, especially white, and you have the means to donate, be sure to give money to an african american today. my cash app is $whatchuknowboutme if you feeling generous. however, i don’t need the money, i’d just spend it on eating out unnecessarily and comics. so i’d rather you give it to someone else first (then you can come back and give me a lil sumn sumn when you done lol). specifically black members of the lgbtq+, with it being pride month and all! or support a black, specifically african american, owned business!
ok that’s the post, stay black and stay beautiful.

June Interesting Links!
The 19th of June, known as Juneteenth, marks Independence Day for Black Americans! It celebrates the emancipation of enslaved people around the US and more specifically Texas. Although we know the fight against oppression is ongoing, it is a special holiday and celebration is in order!
Check out this Juneteenth Reading List to celebrate Black authors and how they use their pen to shape the culture.
June also marks the start of Pride Month! In honor of the Stonewall Riots and the start of their liberation movement, Pride is celebrated every June. Enjoy the celebrations and give awareness to those who have and continue to fight for LGBTQ rights along with an extra thanks to Black and Brown queer activists!
Amongst all the talk about AI we need more discussion on AI Literacy and how it could become an equity issue in classrooms. This article from Education Week is a good place to start the conversation.
It probably goes without saying, but the library is against book bans! Here are some resources that resist movements to ban books: Banned Books Library, Unite Against Book Bans, and Miami Center for Racial Justice.
How does your summer reading list look? LitHub has 28 suggestions you can check out now!

June message to my beautiful friends in the Legal Marketing Association - LMA International - hyperlinks referenced below all can be found here: https://tinyurl.com/2butdnvm
June is bustin' out all over
All over the meadow and the hill
Buds're bustin' outa bushes
And the rompin' river pushes
Ev'ry little wheel that wheels beside a mill
— "June is Bustin' Out All Over," Rodgers and Hammerstein's Carousel
These admittedly odd lyrics come from Rodgers and Hammerstein’s musical "Carousel," which us theater nerds know is one of the more problematic entries in their canon, for many reasons I won’t bore you with here! But nonetheless, the sentiment of this ditty strikes me as right for this midpoint of the year. New life, sunshine, vibrancy, joy.
June also brings opportunities to celebrate and honor diversity, inclusion and shared history. #Juneteenth and #Pride celebrations across the world offer opportunities to celebrate and honor heritage, progress and hope. Although, I believe deep in my bones that these conversations and recognitions should never be limited to any given month, it remains important to mark these celebrations. They are too crucial to our collective understanding and growth to confine them by the calendar. With all the vitriol in the world, now is the time to show love, strength and authentic allyship. Reading the news right now can be an emotional and existential affront to many of us. LMA is strongest when we stand together. Make your voices heard and check in on each other. #SayLove #LMA-MRGs
I find myself in a reflective and, yes, celebratory mood at the six-month mark of my LMA presidency. The energy of the #LMA23 conference hasn’t abated. Our hope was to provide an empowering and inclusive experience that amplified our profession and our community. You took those ideas and expanded them in beautiful, inspiring ways — much like a beloved dance remix, taking what makes any song special and reinvigorating it to keep the party going. (If you couldn't join in person or want to view a session you missed, the #LMA23 Conference Recordings were just made available!)
Speaking of which, it only seemed fitting that I offer another playlist for your summer months. This may be the most eclectic bunch to date, but these are tunes and vibes that get me in a good groove. And, yes, you’ll see I really had #Eurovision, #JillScott, "The Wiz," #RebaMcEntire and #VerveRecords on the brain, among a number of other standbys, when I put this together. Stream or download on Spotify and iTunes. (Fun fact: I just learned Spotify links expire after seven days. Why? No clue… So, if you’re reading this later and can’t access it, drop me a line and I’ll generate a new link for you.)
By the way, Rob Kates and I had a great post-#LMA23 Legal Marketing Coffee Talk chat with our keynote Laura Gassner Otting about her new book, "Wonderhell." Queen of Miami Athena Dion also joined us to reflect on how much meeting all of you fabulous souls meant to them. If you missed it, you can check out the replay here! We talk a lot about mental health, self-care, living limitlessly and showing support for one another in these challenging times.
I hope you have some self-care/re-energizing summer fun planned. It’s so crucial to take time away, unplug, have shared experiences, decompress and make new discoveries. Work and volunteer commitments will be there when you return and, in fact, will BENEFIT from you recharging and refreshing, bringing bold new ideas to your organizations.
Along those lines, LMA recently launched our Well-Being Pledge so we can commit to the well-being of others and ourselves. And please continue to avail yourselves of the excellent educational offerings through our Shared Interest Groups, Regions and Local Steering Committees. I know they refill my well of ideas and inspire me to do better, more fulfilling work every day.
Looking ahead, there's still time to participate in the call for content/speakers for some of the regions' fall meetings. The call for content for the 2024 international annual conference will launch later this month, too — plan now to attend! These are great opportunities for your voices to be heard, to share your ideas with colleagues, and to grow from collaboration. I know in the early days of my time at LMA (and through today) the firms which I have been privileged to support always appreciated the visibility this afforded them (and me!). I don’t say that from a place of ego, but to help connect the dots that your personal and professional growth has a holistic, organic benefit to the organizations you serve.
Now excuse me while I jam out to my latest, wacky, Day-Glo playlist and watch the geraniums bloom on my patio!
Love you!

Stuff I’m Looking Forward to in June
How is it already June? This is a fun month with Summer in full swing. In addition to LGBTQ+ Pride Month (June 1-30), Flag Day (June 14), Father’s Day (June 18), Juneteenth (June 19), first day of Summer (June 21) and Eid al-Adha (June 29), here is what’s on my radar for this month:
Movies:
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse
I was a huge fan of the 2018 animated Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (I named it my #7 Movie of 2018) and am excited about the sequel opening 6/2. Watch for my review.
Asteroid City
A Wes Anderson movie, good or bad, is always a big screen cinematic experience. This one takes place in a desert town in 1955. Can’t wait! Opens 6/23.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny
I out and out love Indiana Jones and in the 5th movie James Mangold took over directing duties. Don’t care what the buzz has been so far, I am excited to see Harrison Ford return to his iconic role. Opens 6/30.
Music:
Foo Fighters But Here We Are
The 11th album from the Foo Fighters is here. The band’s last album Medicine at Midnight was my #1 Album of 2021. This is their first album after the 2022 passing of drummer Taylor Hawkins. I was lucky enough to see the band at Boston Calling last week and can’t wait for the new album dropping 6/2.
Tommy Stinson’s Cowboys in the Campfire Wronger
Tommy Stinson is rock royalty! As if The Replacements weren’t enough, he also spent time in Guns N’ Roses and Soul Asylum, but he’s been laying low since Bash & Pop. Now he’s back with a new project with Chip Roberts. Their first album drops 6/2. Watch for my review.
Hollywood Vampires Live in Rio
The super group Hollywood Vampires do not tour as often as they should, mainly because the members are Alice Cooper, Joe Perry of Aerosmith, and some guy named Johnny Depp and it’s hard to coordinate their schedules. But when they do tour it’s quite impressive. I’ve been a fan of both of their albums. In 2015, they played in Rio for 100,000 fans for Rock In Rio and they’re joined by some guests too. Live album and blu-ray drops 6/2. Watch for my review.
Extreme Six
Extreme has not released a new album since 2008. I grew up a big fan of them and have seen them live in 1991, 1995, and 2009. I even got to interview former members Paul Geary and Hal LeBeaux for my documentary Life on the V: The Story of V66. Can’t wait for the new album, which drops 6/9.
Queens of the Stone Age In Times New Roman...
QOSTA’s first new album in six years is quite a welcome comeback. Their brand of stoner rock has accompanied me on my trips through the desert and Songs for the Deaf is one of the greatest albums of the 00s. New album drops 6/16.
Books:
Paul McCartney 1964: Eyes of the Storm
Sir Paul’s upcoming photo book is a collection of photos he took during the peak of Beatle-mania. Color me curious! Book release on 6/13.
Conventions:
Collectibles Extravaganza: MusicCons 2023
The good folks who run the Northeast Comic Con also run this run music convention featuring loads of rock stars like Mickey Dolenz, Cherrie Currie, Ritchie Ramone, Michael Des Barres, and more. Con is on from 6/30-7/2 in Boxborough, MA.

Social Media Ethics
Tamarijn Alpaio
Prof. Susi
COMM-1400-600
October 30, 2022
The current state of social media ethics: what trends are happening in the industry? What are two current cases related to social media ethics? Outline the current code of ethics for social media by a professional organization you would be interesting in joining as part of their social media staff.
A current trend that is happening is parents posting their toddler to the sound "it made me think of you" then cutting to a picture of their newborn reminiscing on the child growing up quickly.
One case related to social media ethics would be a Twitter post made by Kanye West. Less than a month ago, he posted an anti-Semitic post. He was threatening to kill Jewish people and though it was okay to say/post because "black people are actually Jew also".
Another case related to social media ethics would be trolls in general. There are people that give so much hate to other people, usually anonymously, which can cause users to harm themselves or even suicide. Both cases I mentioned are obviously extremely unethical.
I would be interested in working for the social media staff of the LEGO company. Some codes they currently have are to treat everyone equally (no discrimination), freedom of expression, health and safety, and no allowing for bribes.
Brands/professionals with strong social media ethical codes: what brands are utilizing proper social media ethical practices? Are there any professionals that you feel practice strong ethical behavior on social media? Support your choice with evidence. What are some takeaways you can bring forth in your own practices?
A brand that utilizes proper social media ethical practices would be Minecraft. They are very active with their community and support everyone. They have posts regarding Juneteenth, pride month, and others.
A professional that practices strong ethical behavior would be Keanu Reeves. He has made a private cancer research foundation and many other things. While he has no social media himself, he has many fan pages dedicated to him. All his fans strongly admire him and what he has done for others.
A takeaway I can bring forth in my own practice would be to take responsibility for everything I share online since it will never really be deleted and could affect people I don't know.
Key concepts and issues: what main concepts do you are necessary to adhere to for your own personal conduct online?
To adhere to my own personal conduct online, I rarely post and when I do I put some thought into it, thinking about what other people may think or even assume when they see it.
What to do and what not to do: what main concepts do you feel strongly against and want to make sure you avoid on social media?
On social media, I almost always make sure to avoid posts that could be seen as controversial, such as anything people may consider political. I like to engage in small debates on platforms such as TikToks, but nothing serious or anything that could offend others.
Bullet point 5-10 core concepts that you will follow as a practicing social media professional. Include citations that you used for sources/supports for this.
Respect others even if you do not agree with their opinions
Stay up to date on things before commenting
Remember what could happen from a simple comment
Be careful of the sources you trust
Use social media to discover new trends, opinions, and ideas

CLASS TRIAL 1 - Progress Report #4
Tumblr media Tumblr media
despite everything i still like the energy of the old version lol
sorry this is late i had a depressive episode and have lost all sense of the passage of time. but im still mostly on track to have this out by the... end of the month?? maybe first week of july?? progress as of 6/14 under the cut:
WRITING: ~99% done (with the first draft)
ALMOST THERE... the last chunk of the trial has the most new stuff so it's taking a little longer than the rest, but i've also been editing/proofreading the earlier sections as i go!
MINIGAMES: ~80% done
still wrestling with anagram gambit
climactic deduction DONE
nonstop debates now have skippable text
all selection screens are workin
the newer minigame is a bullet time battle equivalent and the code is almost done!!
ART: ~60% done
CGs (1/4)
sprites (10/20+)
banners (12/14)
climactic deduction comic (14/14 DONE!!!)
minigame art assets (2/6?)
MUSIC: ~90% done
13 tracks pretty much done
1 in progress and 1 to go!! there's a couple more i may add if i have time tho
also been experimenting with sound effects! it'll be a lil work to get everything set up but OH the serotonin of the little danganronpa noises playing as you scroll down the page
WEBSITE: 100% done
bf found a couple bugs after i sent him a wip build but i think i got em fixed!
experimenting with hosting on itch.io so it's easier to download a standalone version-- 60-70mb is still less than a 5 minute youtube video, but stuff will always load faster if it's already on your hard drive haha
this week i wanna try to finish the music and get the minigames working!! that's gonna be the biggest factor in a release date so hopefully by next week i will actually have a Day and Time

It’s almost opening day for the most important court in the land, the U.S. Supreme Court. While there might not be a marching band present to usher in the first day of the new term on Monday, there will surely be some fireworks this Supreme Court season.
This year we barely had time to miss the Supreme Court. Typically, justices sign our yearbooks in June with a perfunctory “HAGS!” (Have a Great Summer!) and disappear for months as they give well-paid speeches in far-off places. This year, they stuck around, busying themselves with many so-called shadow docket decisions. They allowed Texas’ restrictive abortion law to go into effect and gave a big thumbs down to President Joe Biden’s attempt to extend the federal eviction moratorium and to his effort to end former President Trump’s “Remain in Mexico” policy.
Now they return to their regularly scheduled programming. They’ve already set oral arguments in a number of key cases that could reshape our legal and political landscape and exacerbate society’s existing fault lines.
On Dec. 1, the court will hear arguments about the constitutionality of Mississippi’s law, which bans almost all abortions after 15 weeks of pregnancy. The law is at odds with current Supreme Court precedent, set almost 30 years ago in a case called Planned Parenthood v. Casey, in which the court upheld the “essential holding” of its landmark decision in 1973 in Roe v. Wade. The Casey court held that once a fetus is viable, states can ban abortions, but pre-viability, states can only implement restrictions that do not present an “undue burden” on a woman’s ability to obtain an abortion.
Because fetal viability typically begins at about 24 weeks of pregnancy, there seems to be no way to honestly square Mississippi’s law banning abortions at 15 weeks of pregnancy, with the Casey standard. Twenty-four weeks is more than 15 weeks, and a ban is more than an undue burden. By agreeing to review Mississippi’s abortion law, at least four members of the court have almost certainly signaled that they’re comfortable overturning Roe and Casey. That number is likely closer to six, the same number that voted to allow Texas’ abortion law to remain in effect.
On Nov. 3, the court will hear arguments in the second most controversial and consequential question facing justices this term: whether the state of New York can mandate that people who want to obtain a license to carry a concealed gun show good reason, such as self-defense.
The Supreme Court, much to the chagrin of some of its more conservative justices, has largely shied away from taking big Second Amendment cases since it struck down a District of Columbia law in 2008 that banned the carrying of unregistered handguns and barred the registration of handguns, but allowed the chief of police to issue one-year licenses for handguns. The D.C. law also required that people who legally own registered firearms keep them in a nonfunctional state (for instance by binding them with trigger locks) in the home. Justice Antonin Scalia, writing for a majority of the court, famously concluded that the Second Amendment includes an individual right to bear arms, as opposed to a right given only to the militia, and that this right includes the ability to own a functional gun in one’s home for self-defense.
The court’s decision in the gun case it will hear Nov. 3 will tell us how much power states have to restrict a person’s ability to carry a gun outside of the home. In addition to New York, California, Delaware, Hawaii, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey and Rhode Island also place restrictions on the carrying of concealed weapons outside the home. All of those laws could be on the chopping block.
The court will be addressing much more than abortion and gun control this term.
On Wednesday, the court will consider whether the government can prevent a prisoner at Guantánamo Bay from obtaining information in a suit against CIA contractors who tortured him. The legal issue in the case is whether the government can use the “state secrets” privilege to prevent the release of national security information. The court’s decision could affect other pending cases, such as the separate case of five men being charged in the U.S. Military Tribunal at Guantánamo Bay for aiding the men who perpetrated the Sept. 11 attacks.
A week later, on Oct. 13, the court will hear arguments in a case concerning Dzhozhar Tsarnaez, who, along with his brother, is one of the two Boston Marathon bombers. Tsarnaez’s death sentence was thrown out by an appeals court because the trial court failed to ask potential jurors about the media coverage they had consumed about the case and excluded evidence from the sentencing phase about his brother’s involvement in a separate murder case. The Supreme Court will determine if the death sentence should be reinstated.
November will be First Amendment month at the Supreme Court as justices hear one case addressing the freedom of religion and two dealing with the scope of the free speech clause. On the first of that month, the court will hear the case of death row inmate John Ramirez, who claims, in part, that he has a constitutionally protected right to have his Baptist pastor put his hands on him and pray out loud while he is put to death. Texas has thus far denied those requests. The previous cases to reach the court in this area address whether a death row inmate can have a spiritual advisor present in the execution chamber, not what actions that advisor can take once inside.
On Thursday the court agreed to hear a challenge filed by a Christian group, Camp Constitution, against the city of Boston. Camp Constitution wanted to use a City Hall flag pole to raise its flag, which bears a Latin cross. “What about the separation of church and state?” you ask. Well, Camp Constitution complains that Boston allows tons of other groups to use its flag poles, such as those celebrating gay pride and Juneteenth. Both lower courts to review the case ruled in favor of the city.
In a case regarding the free speech clause of the First Amendment, on Nov. 2, the court will consider the Houston Community College System’s Board of Trustees public censure of one of its members for things he said about the other board members. That member claimed the censure violated his First Amendment rights, a claim the federal district court dismissed, finding that the censure was no more than a “statement” of the board’s dissatisfaction. The court of appeals disagreed. The case asks more broadly whether a local elected body has the power to censure one of its members as a result of that member’s speech.
And there is another yet-to-be-scheduled case dealing with the free speech clause, this one addressing the ever-expanding problem of money and politics. When Texas Sen. Ted Cruz loaned money to his re-election campaign in 2018, he admits he did so to challenge a federal law that caps at $250,000 the amount of money candidates can raise post-election to repay their personal loans to the campaign. Cruz loaned his campaign $260,000 the day before the election and wants to be able to raise money after the election to pay back his full $260,000 loan. He says the law violates the First Amendment by burdening political speech without a sufficient reason. The government says the law is necessary to prevent corruption or the appearance of corruption that could occur when candidates fundraise after the election to help retire their personal debts to the campaign.
This is the Supreme Court’s first full term with its new list of players and a solid six-to-three conservative majority. Justice Amy Coney Barrett was sworn in a few weeks after last year’s term began.
Only fools make predictions, so here we go. Ten months from now, when the court's term ends, Roe and Casey will no longer be the law of the land. They will either be expressly or implicitly eviscerated. States will no longer possess the authority to restrict people's ability to carry concealed weapons outside the home, or that authority will be severely narrowed. Cruz, and his colleagues, will be able to raise as much money as they want after an election to repay their personal loans to their campaigns.
There are other consequential cases that the court will consider that could change our understanding of the contours of the First Amendment and the state secrets privilege. But if the only two cases the court heard all term were the abortion and gun control cases, we can already predict that thanks to at least five people in a country of almost 330 million, our world is about to look a lot different.

I've been seeing those george neg tweets about how he hasn't tweeted about pride month or juneteenth (despite saying happy juneteenth on stream) but using those as an example to drive the point that he basically gets away with not saying much at all and saying how if it were dream he would be receiving backlash but george gets away with not doing much.
And its like for a first, i understand how people might be disappointed but at the same time many other CC's haven't spoken about pride or juneteenth and its fine....? Like if your CC isn't an activist...they aren't an activist. That's not to say your CC doesn't support these events they just don't feel the need to tweet about it on their platform despite speaking about it in their streams. And comparing how George stays silent to Dream and arguing how dream would get backlash is odd, dream is more outspoken on twitter and whatever he'd say good or bad will inevitably give him backlash because anti's exist, also him not tweeting about juneteenth i suppose would be different since its an american holiday supporting black americans. George or any CC from the UK for that matter; Jack, Wilbur, Tommy, Tubbo, Smajor, Ponk etc etc haven't tweeted about juneteenth because in the UK there's a different date to commerate the end of slavery.
Like george not saying anything isnt inherently bad, it doesn't harm anyone, i can see how people are disappointed about it but saying stuff like 'why cant he do it when his bestfriends tweeted about it?' Or 'if dream did that he would get hate' is the wrong way to ask him to show his support, and also ignores the fact that again, Juneteeth is not a thing in the UK.
i would like to preface this by saying that i'm white and non-american, so i'm definitely not the person that should speak on this. i am going to report my humble opinion here because you asked me, but take my words for what are worth (basically nothing)
if i'm being honest i never understood this entitlement to bare-minimum "activism". if my favorite content creator makes a tweet wishing everyone an happy pride month i'm happy about it and i appreciate that they're trying to cultivate a safe space for me in their audicence. if they don't make a tweet about pride, i just don't care? like i wouldn't even notice that cishet man number 34 hasn't tweeted anything if it wasn't for the people calling that out.
overall, while i get where they're coming from, in wanting popular content creators to use their platforms as best as they can, you can't coerce them. you are allowed to make a judgement on them for this, you can say "i would rather support content creators that are not afraid of supporting me and possiby alienating a part of their audience to show what they believe in", but wasting your energy in poking a probably uneducated content creator that will likely only tweet "happy pride month :)" really seems fruitless to me.
it's not your job to educate them. i'm only here to watch them play minecraft, i don't care about keeping track of their online presence and nitpicking everything they do or don't do. I used to be a bit like this i think, and I still personally don't appreciate that george is so careful in being neutral (though this doesn't refer to the pride month tweet specifically), but it doesn't matter. i can be critical of the content i consume while understanding how relevant and constructive my criticism would be in a specific situation. if i'm interested in online activism, i will uplift the voices of actual actvists, people who know what they're doing and advocate for an actual change. i won’t overshadow the voices that should be leaders of this moment to call out a minecraft youtuber and get a few thousand likes.
even if you get george to tweet "happy pride month, love is love" what have you achieved? is it even worth all this? is it even worth anything to get an happy pride month if you had to chase him and threaten twitter cancellation for this? like at this point if he came and said "i'm sorry i haven't tweeted anything before, happy pride month" i would count it as not tweeting anything, it would be just pure performative actions to get twitter to calm down. sorry i don’t need to get my validation as a queer person from georgenotfound acknowledging my existence.
keeping track of who has tweeted and who hasn’t is performative at best and straight up useless at worst, instead of making a thread of all the times georgenotfound stayed silent, retweet resources that can help, show your support in a positive and effective way. at the end of the day, in my opinion we should start treating content creators for what they are, and if you don't like how they manage their online presence, if that doesn't make you feel safe or comfortable, it's your choice to leave and support someone else. it’s not your job to educate them.
i don't want to speak about juneteenth in particular, my feelings are about the same, but admittedly i am in a very privileged position, so who the fuck am i to say "you shouldn't expect this and that from content creators"? this seems like a more delicate issue that i probably shouldn't speak over, though i don't understand why george, british white man, would even know about this. i never knew about juneteenth until this year, if i'm being honest.

i havent posted anything in awhile but happy pride month yall! and, very much in me fashion imma take this time ta make another informational post! this installment is called
why assimilation is overall harmful to the queer community + the damage of pseudo-right wing ideas spread thruout the trans community!
CW: queerphobia, transmedicalism, bl*ir wh*te, k*lvin g*rrah, violence against queer ppl.
Tumblr media
so, where do we start?
assimilation, what is it?
assimilation is a deliberate effort made by a minority/ marginalized group to (instead of become free) join the majority/privledged, which is wildly more accesible ta abled nuerotypical cis white lgb folks.
now, how does that apply ta th queer community? before that, we hafta look at th stark distinction between th LGBT community and th QUEER community.
because sadly its now different
imma make this as short as possible but basically,
despite its intentions when it was formed decades ago, th LGBT communiy an th way it functions is percieved is different. case in point, th term LGBT has been heavily gentrified and commodified especially by corporations tryina sell it to non-lgbt audiences. youll notice a majority of LGBT voices an advocates are usually white cis lgb ppls or are assimilationists. th term LGBT aswell has been heavily diluted and decontexualized from its roots, such as fightin for rights wit riots an demonstrations, bein heavily tied wit black an indigenous liberation, socialist ideals and memorializing th struggle for our freedom. its also (as apart of its gentrification) is bein forced ta be more 'family friendly' in an effort of control an ta make cash off of us an further assimilate us.
the QUEER community is a somewhat niche nowadays as it sticks fairly close ta th original goals as th LGBT community once had. such as wantin an willin ta fight for liberation rather than succumb ta assimilation. its also seen as a threat as it directly challenges th authority (capitlism, cops/military, goverment, white supremacy, fascism) for its mistreatment an oppresion against queer ppl and other marginalized groups. if th LGBT community is th privledged assimilations that can be proffited off of, then th queer community is more alike 'outcasts' or 'rejects' that arent as palatable ta a cishet majority ie; trans women/ trans/queer ppls of colour, more radicalized queer folks, or those impoverished.
so, with that said, how has/does assimilation harm queer ppl?
as i said, assimilation is disspraportionatly accesible ta able-bodied, neurotypical, cis, non-poor white LGB ppls (shocker) meaning th majority of queer poc, trans people, impoverished, and diasbaled/neurodivergent folks get left behind and continuosly stomped on in an attempt ta eradicate us. and it should be noted theres 2 types of assimilation
1. forced assimilation; forced assimilation is where marginalized ppls thru cultural eradication/genocide r forced ta strip themselves of their identity an join th majority which results in oppresion, discrimination, an further erasure of th ppls themselves. this is heavily seen within th queer community wit th AIDS crisis where those who survived were later branded as 'brave' by th very system that sought their demise in th first place, leavin our community in shambles.
2. chosen assimilation; chosen assimilation is where usually a small group/ or a singular person will disregard their people in an a attempt ta be spared from oppresion or discrimination. in terms of queer ppl (especially trans folks) th main contendors r blair white, kalvin garrah, an buck angel. blair is a stellar example of attempted assimilation. she not only rejetcs, but constantly puts her own people on blast publicly ta her audince of white cishet conservatives an (more often than not) fascists. not only that but she deliberatly associates wit th very ppl who seek her erasure an oppresion in an assbackwards attempt at salvation. more concrete examples include 1. showin herself as 'one of th good ones' or 'normal' 2. acting as if shes cishet 3. constantly self-hating ta appease those mentioned above 4. spewing dangerous an misinormed rhetoric aimed at trans ppls which directly affects trans poc an non-passing trans women. next, kalvin garrah. i was gonna write a whole thing on him but instead ill (below) link copshatemoe's videos about him.
so, now that we know how assimilation both forced an personal harms queer ppls in general, what about trans ppls an th trans community?
transmedicalism and its disasterous effects towards the trans community.
transmedicalism is a belif system of sorts that follows ideals such as
beliving trans ppls must be suffering from dysphoria to be trans
a trans person must want to transition to be trans
being trans is a mental illness/ neurological condition/ birth defect cause by unbalanced horomone levels or th existence of "male and female brains"
belivies HRT or surgerys are a 'cure' for dysphoria/ 'transness'
that neopronouns or non-lesbian, gay, bisexual, or binary trans folks are invalid or 'wannabes' who see th "lgbt community as a club of sorts to join jus because"
borderline or blatant rascist, transmysoginistic, ableist rhetoric.
intentional or not, that assimilation is key an becomin 'as close ta bein cis as possible' is th goal of transition.
now, i could spend ages rantin about how these belifs are blatently wrong but however rather than disecting them lets jus go over th direct harm these belifs have caused th trans community.
lets start wit nonbinary folks. nowadays as ive seen transmedicalism has become more open ta acceptin nonbinary folks but regardless they were one of th first punchin bags. since bein nonbinary in any facet isnt exactly 'medically sustained' its already seen as bullshit, but past that it opens th gates for neoprounouns an non-convetional identitys. enby ppls would be attacked constantly or called "trenders" in an attempt ta discourage them from even existing. this 'highschool bully' type of mentality along wit th superiority complex behind transmedicalism created a stark divide between "normal" trans ppls an th "weirdo, faker" trans ppls. not only did these attacks further stigmatize an already oppresed minority but also forced ppl ta hide themselves from they own community ta avoid ridicule an bullying. this type of harrasment has left these ppls wit trauma an fear of they identity bein challenged not only online but also in IRL queer spaces while they already hafta stay hypervigilant around cis ppl, now it seems th same around binary trans folks. not only have nonbinary ppls have been impacted however, binary trans ppls were left wit insecurities, wonderin if they dysphoria is 'rlly that bad compared ta others' and worrying about things they usually didnt care about. probably th biggest of those is 'passing'. passing is th action of looking as cis as possible ta blend in an avoid general treatments sustained by cishet ppls. i as a transwomen was directly affected by this rhetoric which caused me years of my transition spent not becomin myself, but becomin as close ta a cis girl as possible. this lead me ta become embarresed by my own community also factored in by havin virtually no trans friends IRL. this was th shared experince of many binary trans folks an nonbinary trans folks i know an am friends with. in conclusion, transmedicalsim has not only ostrasized an traumatized queer folks, but has also left insecurities an damage ta binaty trans folks aswell.
so, with that in mind, how do we combat, well, all of this an much more?
liberation
liberation is th action of freeing a marginalized group from its oppresive chains. an how would this look/work for th queer community?
majority of cishet ppls think that queer liberation ended wit marriage equality but thats very much not true. multiple basic human freedoms have been stripped from not only cis lgb queers but also trans people aswell. rights such as affordable housing witout discrimination, medical options for trans people being completly accesible or downright free, safe spaces or areas where were able ta exist free of fear of persecution or discrimination, better healthcare treatment towards queer ppl, things sometimes neccisary ta ones transition bein more accesible such as name/document changes, and many more things. but remember, none of this is possible witout ingigenous liberation/land back, black liberation, or under capitlism
anyways, i have 0 way ta end this so happy pride month an a very happy juneteenth!! if ur black ur more than welcome ta leave any gofundmes, cashapps, venmos etc in th notes or reblogs!
also, if you have any additions or points/topics i shouldve made or covered pls reblog wit them!

Another life update
Hello everyone. So, June is a pretty good month. Summer has joined us. The sun is shining, which is lovely. We plan to spend lots of time down at the Beach. Besides that, we got Pride Month, Father's Day, Juneteenth. We have also celebrated our dearest grandma Lulu, Sam’s mother’s 65th birthday this month. She is no doubt still the most amazing woman I know, and we were happy to spend the day with her. Samuel’s oldest niece, Dorisa, also turned seventeen, so we’ve been busy.
I know we’re not really around much these days, not here or on instagram, but I will still continue to post when time allows it. Next month should be a little less busy, and then we have Eliana’s 13th birthday coming up in August. The month after, the twins will be celebrating their 7th birthday, so we’re probably going to be pretty busy up until after Christmas. The quadruplets will be 2 years old in November, and Ellie’s busy with her theatre performances, so yeah, there’s all that.
Also, if you want the outfit that Leo and Noa are wearing, you can get yours here.
But I hope you’re all doing well out there, and as always, take care. Until next time,
