#have i mentioned i love moira Mactaggert today

Was thinking about Moira Mactaggert last night, as one does, and I realized that while people complain about her character only being there as a love interest, there's only one scene in the movie that has her show any romantic interest in anyone (and it's the scene where Charles wipes her mind while kissing her so, not the greatest). Moira's the one who kicks off the plot - she finds Shaw, she finds Charles, they find Erik through Moira's job, and so on. She starts everything, and everything that follows happened because of her and her persistence. Saying she's only there as a "hetero love interest" for Charles demeans her character and ignores the fact that if she wasn't there, the plot wouldn't have happened.

The halls of the X-Mansion were bustling with mutants and humans alike. The mutants were going about their business, trying to get to class while the humans were trying to decorate the entire place. Currently (Y/N) was standing out of the way of everyone just observing everyone passing by. There was no way she was about to insert herself into the chaos just yet.
Recently Charles Xavier had announced that there would be a ball in order to raise funds and awareness for Charles Xavier’s school for gifted youngsters. Ever since mutants have been brought into the light, more and more students were coming in with different forms of powers. If it weren’t for (Y/N), Erik, and Raven, Charles was sure to be overwhelmed with everything. It was only after Erik’s attempted assassination on the U.S. president that he realized what a mistake he had made. In order to get Erik to contain his anger and hatred for humans, Charles had convinced him to stay after his previous attempts. Charles liked to tease (Y/N) and say that if it weren’t for her, Erik would have refused yet again.
Unfortunately, (Y/N) never believed Charles and rebutted his teasing by insisting it was only because Erik had nearly hurt Raven. It only made sense after everything Raven and Erik had gone through together. (Y/N) was almost positive that Erik’s feelings ran deep for the other mutant, so to spare her own feelings, she suppressed any and all thoughts of her and Erik ever getting together. She’d never tell Charles, though she suspected that he already knew what with him being a mind reader and all. (Y/N) knew Charles wouldn’t read her mind unless it was absolutely necessary, she trusted him enough, but sometimes she felt as though her feelings for Erik were strong enough that Charles didn’t have to read her mind in order to find out how she felt.
“(Y/N) It’s nearly time for class, your students are waiting for you.” Charles’s voice echoed in her mind.
“Speak of the devil,” (Y/N) muttered to herself.
“Aw, were you thinking about me, love?” (Y/N) could clearly hear the teasing tone in his voice, it was almost as if he were right next to her.
“In your dreams, Charles,” (Y/N) nearly rolled her eyes at his insistent teasing. Despite the conversation going on in her mind, she made her way to her class. He had a point, she couldn’t keep her kids waiting, she had some interesting stories to share with the kids today and it nearly made her giddy.
“Oh, I think you’ve mistaken me with someone else. Like Erik, perhaps?”
“Fuck off Charles,” She snapped. His constant teasing was almost enough to take her out of the good mood she was in, almost.
“Sorry everybody, I wish I could say I have an excuse for being late, but sadly that isn’t true. You’d think I’d have frozen time in order to get ahead, but I save that for special occasions, like beating Professor Xavier and Professor Lehnsherr at games for instance.” She joked.
Her lame attempt at a joke managed to score a few laughs out of the young mutants, “Anyway, let’s get started shall we?”
(Y/N) went through her lectures with grace, answering and asking the right questions when they arose, a few of the students even volunteered to read a few passages from the textbook, which was often very rare. Because of everyone’s participation, (Y/N) allowed the students some free time at the end of class. Many students took the opportunity to leave and spend their time outside, while a few stayed in their seats.
“Professor (L/N), can I ask you something?” Scott Summers asked curiously. He was hanging out with Jean Grey in the front row.
“Of course, anything in particular?” (Y/N) asked curiously.
“Yeah, actually, it’s about the dance. Is everyone required to take a date? Cause the flyer said to bring a plus one.” Scott had already asked Jean to go with him and she had thankfully said yes, but they were talking and it seemed as though the professors may need dates too. It’d be interesting, to say the least, to find out which professor was going with who.
“Oh, uh, that’s not necessarily a requirement, I think Professor Xavier was just getting ahead of himself,” (Y/N) brushed off, “If you’re not comfortable with taking someone, then it’s not mandatory. I think he only meant for you to go with someone to keep you from getting bored.”
“Okay, so, who is Professor X going with?” Jean asked instantly.
“Oh, I think Moira MacTaggert. I’m sure you’ve all met her, right?” (Y/N) looked around for any confirmation, “If not, then this weekend you’ll get to.”
“What about Professor Lehnsherr? Or you?” Scott prodded.
“Uh, I’m not sure, to be honest,” (Y/N) felt her heartbeat rapidly, could the students know about her fascination with Erik too? Shit, Jean was a mind reader too. (Y/N) glanced at the young student briefly, “That I know of, Professor Lehnsherr might take Professor Darkhölme. And I am going with,” (Y/N) looked around, “Uh, Hank! I mean Professor Mccoy,” She lied not so smoothly. Thankfully the bell rang before anyone can ask any more questions.
“So, you’re going to the ball with Hank?”
(Y/N) nearly jumped out of her skin when she heard Erik’s voice. She hadn’t realized he was even standing there.
“Fuck, you scared me, Erik,” (Y/N) ran her hand through her (H/C) hair.
“Sorry, I knocked before I walked in,” He shrugged, “So Mccoy? Really?”
“What?” (Y/N) furrowed her brows, “What about him?”
Erik laughed slightly, “You said Hank was going to the dance with you.”
“Oh! Right, no I didn’t wanna sound like a complete loner to the kids so I lied, sorta,” She shrugged. This was probably the most embarrassing thing that’s happened to her thus far.
“You could have said I was taking you,” Erik shrugged, “Just a thought.”
“Yeah, next time,” (Y/N) laughed nervously.
“Speaking of the dance-”
“Sorry, Erik, I uh, I’ve got to… Pee! I’ll be right back,” (Y/N) brushed past him and marched to the nearest restroom. She wasn’t about to stand there and let Erik tell her that he was going to ask Raven or that he had already asked her, she wasn’t a masochist after all.
“I’ll just wait here then,” Erik mumbled to himself once she bolted out.
(Y/N) leaned against the bathroom door and sighed. She was going to have to get a hold on herself. She couldn’t keep dodging Erik every time he brought up the dance, they were friends after all.  She’d just have to ignore her pride and accept the fact that Erik didn’t like her the way she liked him. No big deal.
(Y/N) composed herself and made her way to the kitchen. It was nearly lunchtime now and she was starving, she just hoped there was a snack or something available.
“Hey, (Y/N)!” Raven shouted when she saw her from across the hall.
(Y/N) looked up and smiled slightly. She tried to keep things civil, it wasn’t Raven’s fault Erik liked her and not (Y/N).
Raven stopped right next to her with a bright smile, “You ready for the dance this weekend?”
“Yeah, you bet,” (Y/N) lied.
“I can’t wait either, I only ever got to go to parties as my “normal” self before but this time I can just be me,” Raven grinned.
“Well, you’re beautiful so it only makes sense to go as you are,” (Y/N) shrugged.
“Thank you, you are too. I can’t wait to see what you’re going to wear. Charles said to make it formal so it should be interesting to see everyone in a tux and dress.” Raven looked off as if she were imagining just that.
“Yeah, it should be interesting,” (Y/N) agreed.
“Were you headed to the kitchen?” Raven asked suddenly.
“Yeah, I was. I got kinda hungry so I was going to grab a snack or something.” (Y/N) turned to leave.
“I’ll go with you,” Raven decided. She walked right next to (Y/N) without any notice to her discomfort. Raven was the best, really. She was funny, beautiful, badass, and well, (Y/N) could see why Erik liked her. It just really fucking sucked is all.
“So, have you talked to Erik?” Raven wondered.
“Kinda? He stopped by my classroom earlier but I uh, I needed to use the restroom,” (Y/N) really hoped this would be the end of this uncomfortable conversation.
“Oh, well, he really wanted to talk to you so I’ll let him know we’re in the kitchen then,” Raven pulled her phone out of her pocket and texted, (Y/N) assumed, Erik.
“Right, I guess I’ll wait here with you then,” (Y/N) mumbled. This had to be a nightmare right? This wasn’t really happening, right?
(Y/N) grabbed a jello cup from the fridge and a spoon. She jumped onto the counter and started eating her snack. Maybe if she froze time she would be able to escape without any notice. But then they would know what she had done, so it wasn’t really the best option. But still, it was an option.
“There you are (Y/N), I was wondering where you had run off to,” Erik smiled and leaned against the counter right next to you.
“Uh, yeah, sorry I got kinda hungry,” She shrugged.
“I was waiting in your classroom,” Erik mentioned casually.
“Oh, shit, sorry I uh,” (Y/N) wasn’t sure what to say. Why would he wait for her? Why couldn’t he just show up to the dance with Raven and leave (Y/N) alone?
“It’s okay, anyway, I wanted to ask you something,” Erik glanced at Raven, who was pretending to mind her own business but was failing miserably, “You know, you’re not as subtle as you think you are,” He huffed in annoyance.
“Fine, fine, I’m leaving,” Raven stomped off.
“Erik?” (Y/N) set her empty jello cup aside, “you wanted to ask me something?”
“Right! Yes, I did, I do,” Erik bit his lip and shifted nervously.
“Well?” (Y/N) asked impatiently. She didn’t want to sit there while he told her he asked Raven to the dance and if she could help him with something to woo her or something.
“Sorry, I was wondering if you might want to go with me to the dance?” He spoke quickly.
Wait, what? “Wait, what?” (Y/N) asked surprised.
“Will you go with me to the dance?” Erik asked, meeting (Y/N)’s eyes.
“I- what about Raven?” She asked confused. Why would he ask her out and not Raven? Was this a pity date? Is that why Raven was okay with it?
“What about Raven?” Erik asked just as confused as (Y/N). What did Raven have to do with their date?
“I mean, why are you asking me and not Raven?” (Y/N) asked getting frustrated with Erik.
“Because I don’t like Raven, I like you” Erik laughed joyously. He had thought it was pretty obvious. He always dropped everything he was doing to help (Y/N). He made stupid jokes just to hear her laugh, he always tried his best to show off his powers whenever they were teamed together. Their most successful training session was when he showed her how he could lift their jet plane.
(Y/N) sat in disbelief. Erik liked her? How had she not realized before? She thought back to all the times Charles would tease her, she assumed he was teasing her, but come to think about it, Erik was always the one who got flustered and angry. (Y/N) assumed it was because he really didn’t like her, but it turns out the complete opposite was the truth.
“You really like me?” (Y/N) asked softly.
“I do,” Erik agreed, “So, would you want to accompany me to the dance?”
(Y/N) nodded almost too eagerly, “Yes, I would love to!” She grinned.
Erik smiled and stepped between her legs, “can I kiss you? Or is that pushing my luck?”
(Y/N)’s cheeks flushed, her breath hitching, “No, it’s not pushing your luck.”
Erik leaned forward, looking from her eyes to her lips, “good,” He pressed his lips to hers in a gentle passionate kiss.

thoughts on dark phoenix. spoilers below.
if you don’t want to read all of this, skip to the bottom where it’s all summarized?
first, i came in knowing that i would be disappointed in the film in some way but still, i was excited! the x-men are my life; my family.
anyway...
the first hour...idk lowkey the editing threw me off. it was lowkey...uh...bad. at least some parts were. i really enjoyed the last hour.
liked the x-men in space scene...and when miss jean grey absorbed the phoenix force? RIIIIIIIISE!
Tumblr media
before i continue let me just say: i love you sophie belinda turner jonas. stay iconic; a legend and you did great with what you were given! fuck everyone who said you “ruined [x-men and game of thrones] in the same year” (yeah, i saw that in a facebook comment! lmao i HAVE to laugh at that.)
i’m glad the movie covered charles’s flaws as a teacher, if only a little bit. from experience, i know that you should not repress trauma like that because it will rise and be...a mess. so they covered that well.
i've also seen a lot of arguments over charles xavier’s character in dark phoenix and honestly? i thought it was fine. it reflected his comic counterpart more in recent years. (y’all should be happy that scott didn’t kill him in this movie! lol)
rip to mrs. smith and the rest of her dinner party (the husband was kind of a dick, though).
as much as i love jessica chastain, i really didn’t like the antagonists in this film. they provided a GREAT fight scene and conflict in the peak moments of the film, but i wish they focused on the bond between jean grey and the phoenix more, as well as how it affected the team.
AND BEFORE I FORGET: DAZZLER CAMEO DAZZLER CAMEO!! I loved it.
the confrontation between jean and her teammates outside of her father’s house was great. i liked when kurt tried to stop her and they went through the walls. OUCH when quicksilver got hurt though...i felt that.
also: remember when we all thought quicksilver was going to be one of the deaths? lmao
speaking of deaths...mystique really is dead and honestly? thank god. i hated how they’ve written her character in the past two movies. it also doesn’t help that i dislike the actress...her best movies were first class and days of future past but once they started to put her on the hero route? no thanks
i’m sad that they never explored or outright stated that mystique is kurt’s biological mother. (for the non-comic fans: kurt is the son of azazel and mystique.)
hank’s grieving and his lashing out on charles...and then he went to magneto so they could kill jean...good job nicholas
i must ask: what was the relationship between beast/mystique? like where they romantically involved or still kind of tip toe-ing around? some scenes implied they had feelings for sure but....idk
GENOSHA, BABY! GEN-O-SHA!
jean entering this mutant haven was beautiful but magneto’s entrance? omg i lowkey wanted to laugh. magneto remains to be dramatic and i love it
i also liked the helicopter scene
okay so back with the team:
peter got hurt so you don’t see him until the very end of the film
kurt was used pretty well
ororo was underused when it came to the dialogue department. my girl barely said anything BUT: her action scenes were amazing and i’ll get to that in a minute
to the surprise of no one, while kurt remained hopeful but wary and ororo believed jean to be dangerous (which, she is and was), scott was on charles’s side and firmly believed that they could bring jean back.
i wish the dark phoenix was able to cement the scott/jean relationship more because while i knew they were a couple, it would probably be difficult to know how serious they were. (yes, some scenes showed it but idk how impactful they were?)
okay so fast forward a bit: jean and vuk (jessica chastain) are in new york so magneto, hank, and two other mutants on their side are there to kill jean, and then the x-men show up to save/stop that from happening.
this fight scene was pretty cool...especially when magneto brought that subway car above ground and used it to enter the building jean and vuk were in...magneto, ever the dramatic king who i love
the charles/jean moment...heartfelt. like i mentioned, this covered one important aspect of the dark phoenix saga: xavier's faults. he believed he was doing the right thing and when jean saw how her (biological) father reacted to her...she understood. while i believe what charles did was fucked up and i still would have been pissed, i would have forgiven him like jean did, because he gave her hope and a chance. it was hope to help her manage her abilities, and a chance to life as a mutant because let’s face it, if she would have gone in the child services system she would have been fucked.
and then like any other x-men movie: the government got involved, subdued all the mutants (scott blasted vuk out the building, so she wasn’t captured), and they were locked and loaded on the train. jean got isolated from the rest of them.
BEFORE I CONTINUE: when scott said “i’ll fucking kill you!”...i almost started laughing. i’m sorry, but it’s the truth.
anyway on the train: vuk and the rest of the alien shapeshifters come to wreck shit up and the killed most of the guard (which caused kurt to go on a killing rampage after one of them died in front of him....okay. i was kinda impressed tbh, despite most depictions of kurt would probably not do that.)
the mutants fucked shit up! i think the 2 mutants that helped magneto were both killed though, which made me :// like really? k.
which reminds me: i wish psylocke and jubilee were in dark phoenix but the actresses had other film commitments, so i understand and forgive. also...still said about angel and his fate in apocalypse :( angel is always the most mistreated out of the original 5 lmao.
anyway that train fight scene was really good...despite barely having dialogue (:/) SHE KICKED ASS. and when erik destroyed part of the train? KIIIIIIIING!!!!!
BUT THEN JEAN UNLEASHED PHOENIX AGAIN!!! AND SHE FUCKING TOOK THAT TRAIN, PROTECTED HER FAMILY, AND DESTROYED THE REMAINING ALIENS. FUCKING QUEEN! MCU CAPTAIN MARVEL WHO???? MCU WANDA??? MCU THOR???? NO. JUST JEAN GREY BITCHES.
jean sacrificed herself...i remember reading something that said “2 confirmed x-men deaths” and i knew it was going to be mystique and jean
but honestly i was thinking “three deaths” because fuck, i thought jean was going to kill scott! like i’m disappointed how they didn’t focus on jean’s destruction on everyone and being like...evil. lmao i was really hoping but simon you played me, huh. (great marketing i guess?)
jean died but didn’t die, knowing how jean grey is lmao
they renamed the school after jean and i’ve seen people being salty about it LMAO....they renamed the school for jean in the comics (it changed back eventually...?) so stay mad
people are also mad that charles retired and fucked off to paris adfcrvhfbg
while i don’t think charles would have retired (well...that could be debatable?), i think for the end of FOX x-men, it was okay
also erik offering charles a place to stay in paris???? fucking PARIS??? THE CITY OF LOVE??????????? I’M FUCKING LOSING IT!!!!
AND THAT GAME OF CHESS BITCH!!!!!!!!!!!!
the very last shot was of the sky, where you could see the phoenix in the air......yoooooooOOOOOOOOO
okay so before i tell you all my summary, let’s talk about why dark phoenix may not have done so well, or at least part of it:
the mutants are now owned by disney, since the disney/fox merge became official (fuck). so, because of this, dark phoenix had to go through reshoots (which brought us that glorious train fight). apparently, the dark phoenix saga was going to be in three parts but because of the merge...that’s not happening. so, dark phoenix is officially the last x-men movie (unless you count new mutants that will be released on disney+, last i've heard). so, because of this, i think this last movie left a lot of fans unsatisfied because we all know that there should have been more to the story, and they had it planned out! unfortunately...disney has to fucking buy everything.
another reason: the x-men/fox superheros are not as hyped as the MCU/disney superheroes. you know this. i know this. and after a few releases from the MCU this year? the x-men didn’t stand a chance. let me also add: fuck the critics, there’s been such a disconnect between them and the audience for years. i’m not saying dark phoenix was perfect, but it’s not as horrific as people (critic and audience) have been saying.
now, the final thoughts and summary:
i went into the theatres knowing it wasn’t going to be the best thing ever. it was average; that’s the best i can describe it. it had good moments and it had bad moments. jean grey as dark phoenix was not as antagonistic as i hoped and while i enjoy jessica chastain, I really didn’t like the villains of the film. i wish chastain was the “physical embodiment” or whatever it was of the phoenix like many speculated. dark phoenix should have focused on jean (which it did but...), her relationships with her teammates, scott, xavier (it did brush on it), and other core values of the dark phoenix saga. it would have been great to see this all play out but unfortunately, things change.
thank you, fox, for twenty years of the x-men. just like how they changed the comic book industry (they made marvel comics), the very first x-men movie is the reason why we have our many superhero films today. remember that. good luck with them MCU, and don’t you fucking dare mess them up!
let me also add a thank you to the x-men cast. with dark phoenix, they all certainly gave their best. sophie did it, and i will miss tye sheridan as cyclops. most of all, i think i will miss michael fassbender as magneto. while he may not be jewish, he certainly gave his all. he really studied magneto and i respect and admire him for that. also rip to rose byrne as moira mactaggert. where the fuck was she when the events of dark phoenix went down??

MUTANT EMPIRE: SIEGE
I thought I had misplaced this book while cleaning, but I remembered today I had taken it to a LARP to read during downtime and then forgotten it was still in the bag. Chapter Five was more of the outer space plot, and Chapter Six...is still not back to Magneto's Manhattan, so I won't tag the magnets this time, but it does focus on Charles, so I will tag @captaindicks and @hexiva because we find out Charles’s preferences in women, who he’s okay with pushing his chairs, and the one person to ever guess Professor Xavier has anything to do with the X-Men.
Basically, Charles is getting ready to address the media. When he does so, he says that the President's current cautious course of action is correct and that the mass attack by the military suggested by Senator Kelly and Graydon Creed would, due to the Sentinels that Magneto has under his control, cause nothing but property damage and likely civilian casualties. While he agrees force is not unwarranted, this particular method would be useless. I think that's a good thing to note about Charles---he doesn't demand every situation be always handled peacefully, he obviously does see force as an option, and an option he frequently uses/condones. He just believes in looking at other options first, and also judging what SORT of force is needed for the right outcome. Hence why the X-Men have currently gone into Manhattan to handle this (the ones who aren't in space, anyway) I'm not sure if the public is aware of that, I've been kinda skimming for the parts that interest me. Also, reminder that this is the 90s, so as far as everyone knows, Professor Xavier is a human expert on mutants/mutant rights proponent, but he is a HUMAN and has NOTHING to do with the X-Men. He is then asked about the killing of humans by Acolytes “in cold blood” caught on tape and “the abduction of local reporter Trish Tilby and her cameraman” If you'll recall from my last post, Trish and her cameraman have not in fact been abducted, but chosen to stay in Manhattan of their own volition. It's understandable that people on the outside would assume a kidnapping though. Also, while the Acolytes did kill two humans last chapter, I would not say it was done in cold blood. A human mob was swarming them, and two attempted to kill them. Specifically, a man fired a gun at the teleporter Amelia Voght, who by reflex teleported the bullets away from herself and into him. Then a woman came at her with a knife, and Amelia teleported her high in the air, where she died from falling. The latter was deliberate, and definitely uneccessary, Amelia could have chosen another way to defend herself, such as teleporting the knife away, and the text specifies she's choosing to use this as a show of force to scare the others into submission. So I definitely would call it murder, unlike with the man, where it was automatic self-defense. But I can't see it as truly cold-blooded when the woman was still coming at her with the intent to kill or at the least cause bodily harm (albeit with good reasons of her own---as she herself said, this is “our city” and the Acolytes are the invaders taking over with the intent to make humans second-class citizens---in another story, this young woman would be the hero) But, I can see the cameras capturing a very different scene, especially since Amelia tried very deliberately to look remorseless and terrifying, since, again, it was an execution meant to discourage further attacks. Xavier condemns the actions of the Acolytes, but then defends Magneto, saying that though he may be a fanatic and terrorist, he is not a cold-blooded murderer and would never have committed such acts himself. I'm inclined to disagree, I think he damn well would kill humans threatening him with the same, but then, if the tapes don't show the aggression by the civilians, if they show Acolytes just picking two random humans for slaughter, then, yes, I agree, he's never been that type and the Acolytes have (as I mentioned in a previous post) However, Xavier doesn't let Mags off the hook either—he notes that Magneto is responsible for the actions of those under him and that “he had foreknowledge of the Acolytes penchant for death when he became their leader” which is indeed true. I would just like to note at this time that these are the SECOND gen Acolytes that Xavier is speaking of here; I play the first gen who, while terrorists, were shown to be more noble and scrupulous in their brief time alive than the largely bloodthirsty second-gens. Just so we're clear, folks. Don't want any confusion. He is then asked if it's true that he's working with the X-Men, a theory raised in this book by the anti-mutant government liason Gyrich, aka the one damn person to put two and two together on this as far as I can tell. Xavier totally deflects by saying he does know some of them such as Henry “the Beast” McCoy (whose identity is public) and then saying that things can be “misconstrued” and jumping into how the IMPORTANT thing is that the American people know that they are safe and turns that into a little speech. Lololol Charles. He also feels “strangely attracted” in an “odd sort of way” to the lady interviewing, thinking that “she still cares” unlike many of her jaded peers in the media business. The text says “But then, he had long since established a history of being attracted to beautiful, odd women. Moira MacTaggert. Gabrielle Haller, Amelia Voght, Lilandra...” and also that “He loved no other above Lilandra” but the X-Men needed him and that was why he returned to Earth after having lived for a time on the Shi'ar throneworld with her as her Imperial Consort. Basically, he was her Sexy Alien Babe and I love that. I also love his type is apparently not just “hot” but also “powerful and kinda weird in some way” Charles also wonders if his ability to walk is the price he paid for his dream, because...his spine was repaired in space by Lilandra's people, but when he came back to Earth, it got fucked up again by the Shadow King and he wound up back in the chair again. No, Charles, that's just the writers boomeranging. We also learn he generally prefers for his chair NOT to be pushed, and that when help is offered by anyone who isn't the X-men or someone he's close to, he generally declines. He also thinks how “the problem with Gyrich”, who I wrote this post on here, “wasn't evil or even “bad” and that “Gyrich was not a villain, but he was an extremely dangerous man all the same” which about sums it up really. You don't need to be “evil” to be dangerous. In a book which strongly features Magneto, I think that’s a pretty good theme to bring up (and I like that it gets to apply to people other than Mags too--I think remembering that bigots are human is a really important thing, because when you start thinking of them as just evil, you stop being able to imagine you or those you know could have bigoted ideas, because you’re not evil, y’know?)

Attack of Apocalypse: A Cherik fanfic
Chapter 15
The others were still in the aircraft as silence consumed their surrounding. Raven wasn’t talking to anyone and it was probably for the best after everything that has happened. Charles is dead and Erik Is in danger, how is this even possible, maybe Hank was right, yeah shouldn’t have placed their trust on a human. Maybe Erik was right, maybe humans aren’t as good as Charles made them out to be, however the mention of Charles was bad enough. “ are we there yet?” Asked Jubilee, her voice so innocent and calm that Raven couldn’t resist a smile.
Raven continued to smile as she looked towards Hank. Hank quickly glasses back and back again so he was facing the window. “ we’re nearly there, just hold on okay. We are almost there” Hank said calmly, he’s hands firmly on the stirring wheel. Hank was starting to face the truth, he’s mind mixed with anger and fear of losing a now trusted friend as well as a loathed for a once trusted, CIA Agent, Moria Mactaggert.
How could he have been so blinded by her kindness, how she had helped them with their mission in Cuba, how she had provided critical information on Apocalypse… How could she? How could she? Hank remembered it so well, he’s memories still open to flow through those days back in 1962, she was there as she watched Charles and Erik. Watching, only interrupting when they got too close.
‘Charles and Erik had sat close by on the sofa, their eyes interlocked by only the slightest moment they could have. Charles was sat reading he’s own manifesto of mutations and homosapians, while Erik just sat with his eyes transfixed at Charles. “ you know how wonderful you look today Charles” asked Erik suddenly as he continued to stare at Charles’ ever glowing blue eyes. Charles smiles and removed his own eyes away from the ever long manifesto that he wrote himself. Charles smiled at Erik and raised an eyebrow. “ what’s the matter? Something wrong?” Asked Charles knowing Erik far too well. He had known so much of Erik but it was he passion for love that drew him in closer. “ nothing, nothing is wrong. I just wanted to say that… That I…” “ come on Erik spill it out” said Charles softly beginning to become desperate to hear Erik’s voice say “ I love you”; to hear he’s voice win him over despite their troubles. Erik was silent as he bit his lower lip but something inside him filled him with joy and happiness, something he haven’t felt for a very long time. It was somehow destiny that Charles found him. It was Charles that befriended him, took him in like a brother. Since then Erik wanted more, he wanted to be closer to Charles. “ I…I love you” He done it. “ I love you Charles” Erik said again and this time he leaned closer, he’s strong hands gentle touches Charles face. Their eyes meeting once more. Charles dropped his manifesto and pulled Erik even closer. Erik could now feel Charles breath upon his own face. Charles smiles and wrapped one arm around Erik’s neck and the other around his waist. “ I love you too” whispered Charles as he and Erik leaned for a kiss; but before they did, before their lips touched each other’s a loud, familiar voice echoed the room. “ Charles! Charles are you coming out? We’ve got to go” cried Moria as she entered the room where they were still wrapped in each other’s arms. “ want is going on? Asked Moira, her right eyebrow raised, looking questionable at what she had witnessed in front of her. "Um..” Erik started but Charles read his mind and quickly interrupted his Erik’s thought of progress. “ you didn’t see a thing! We weren’t doing anything” sad Charles firmly as he stood up and walked towards her. Erik’s smiled dropped and was reminded that she was still there. That whenever Moria was around he stood no chance. “I better leave” said Erik quickly before he made this situation as more awkward as it was already. “ I think you should” said Moria, her reply cold and bitter, leaving a sour taste in her mouth. Erik stood up and was about to leave when Charles gripped his left wrist. He gave him a stare that simply said “ I still love you. Don’t think this is a permanent thing. Meet me by the courtyard” Erik nodded and walked away, smirking at Moria like he usually does. As Erik left, Moria turned her head back towards Charles. “ what was that about?” She asked, her face confused and unaware of the passion that rises through Charles’ heart and mind. How he’s heart beats not for Moria but for Erik. Only Erik. “ nothing. It was nothing” Charles lied before he patted Moria on her shoulders a went out. “ wait! What about out date?” Moria screamed outside the doorframe as she went and head for Charles. Charles was already half way though the corridor. “ maybe later okay” and he went off, away from her monotone presents and back into Erik’s arms. In the courtyard Erik waited and smiled wildly when Charles came running towards him. “ what took you so long?” Asked Erik giving Charles a sarcastic angered tone, but he still smiled anyway. Charles shook he’s head smiling and quickly ran towards Erik, wrapping his arms around Erik’s neck. Charles has to tip toe to kiss Erik on the lips because he was so tall.
The kiss was better then anything else and Charles likes that and it was unlike Moria as it could possibly be. It was Erik and Charles was okay with that. “ sorry…” Charles breathed. “ Moria won’t shut up” he laughed before kissing Erik again. Erik kisses back with passion and had grabbed Charles by the waist and carefully lifted him up on the stone barrier. They kissed, their lips touching with burning passion and commitment, it was as though it was never ending. “ I love you” whispered Charles panting, he’s mouth forming a smile. “ I love you too” Erik pressed his forehead onto Charles’s and with one arm holding Charles steady while the other stroked him face.
Charles couldn’t keep he’s eyes off Erik Blueish green ones. He was too mesmerised by Erik’s beauty, it was this that made him love Erik. It was all he ever wanted, nothing more, nothing less. It just him and Erik. “ just you and I”
The aircraft was getting close to the school and it was here where they’ll get Erik out. “ almost there” said Hank. “ I can see it now…” Hank’s said a few minutes later. Hank had touched down on to the field; Hank had no time to place it back on the holding station under that basketball court. “ what are we going to do?” Asked jubilee, her eyes telling Raven what she needed to know. “ I need all of you, you are all X-Men now, and I want you on the battle ground. You want to be heroes then this is it” soar Raven firmly and she lead the way out of the aircraft. Hank followed her. Quicksilver, Storm and Nightcrawler were the first of the lot to follow of afterwards, leaving Jean and Scott by themselves.
Scott looked towards Jean, he’s eyes looking straight at her from the modified shield on his face. “ are you okay?” “ yeah, yeah I’m okay. Just scared… Scared that… That… That feeling will come back. That power I though I never had. It still burns inside me… What happens if I hurt someone?” Said Jean her hands shaking a little bit. Scott pulled her into a hug and whispered “ it’s okay, it’s okay right. The Phoenix won’t hurt anyone, it won’t hurt anyone…come on, we need to catch up with the others” Jean smiled and both ran to play catch up with the others.
Inside the mansion, deep below the school, where Cerebo was held, where the Danger Room was located. Somewhere in the other room Charles woke up too. He’s head was spinning and the room was dark, no windows, nothing. “ what is going on?” Charles groan. “ Charles? Charles is that you?” A voice on the other side of the wall. Erik. “ Erik. Erik! Erik it’s me” “ oh gosh, what is going on Charles?” “ I don’t know” whispered Charles. He placed his head on the stone cold wall, wanting to see Erik again. The only one that matters to him right now. “ I’m so sorry Charles” whispered Erik he’s head leaning against the wall, tears escaping his eyes. “ you don’t need to apologise, I’m here and I forgive you” “ I know but it can’t be like this. It can’t end like this… Let go Charles. Let go” Erik commanded through tears. Charles wasn’t going to take that as an option. “ I’m not going to. I can’t. I refuse to. That is not an option Erik!” Charles started screaming behind the wall. “ so was peace Charles but j was wrong now let go.. Let GO!” “ DON’T MAKE ME ERIK! I LOVE YOU. I’M NOT LOSING YOU! I LOVE YOU” Charles screamed until he couldn’t anymore, and all was left was the tears that was running down he’s face. “ I LOVE YOU TOO! Don’t you understand, I love you too. If you love me you’ll let go… Let go… Let go” The words pierced Charles and he wasn’t going to ever let go. It was too much and he had so much to lose. He can’t lose Erik and this isn’t how their story should end. Letting go means forever and forever means a life without Erik. He can’t risk that. Not like this. Not again.

Attack of Apocalypse: A Cherik Fanfic
Chapter 15- Let Go The others were still in the aircraft as silence consumed their surroundings. Raven wasn't talking to anyone and it was probably for the best after everything that has happened. Charles is dead and Erik Is in danger, how is this even possible, maybe Hank was right, yeah shouldn't have placed their trust on a human. Maybe Erik was right, maybe humans aren't as good as Charles made them out to be, however the mention of Charles was bad enough. " are we there yet?" Asked Jubilee, her voice so innocent and calm that Raven couldn't resist a smile. Raven continued to smile as she looked towards Hank. Hank quickly glasses back and back again so he was facing the window. " we're nearly there, just hold on okay. We are almost there" Hank said calmly, he's hands firmly on the stirring wheel. Hank was starting to face the truth, he's mind mixed with anger and fear of losing a now trusted friend as well as a loathed for a once trusted, CIA Agent, Moria Mactaggert. How could he have been so blinded by her kindness, how she had helped them with their mission in Cuba, how she had provided critical information on Apocalypse... How could she? How could she? Hank remembered it so well, he's memories still open to flow through those days back in 1962, she was there as she watched Charles and Erik. Watching, only interrupting when they got too close. 'Charles and Erik had sat close by on the sofa, their eyes interlocked by only the slightest moment they could have. Charles was sat reading he's own manifesto of mutations and homosapians, while Erik just sat with his eyes transfixed at Charles. " you know how wonderful you look today Charles" asked Erik suddenly as he continued to stare at Charles' ever glowing blue eyes. Charles smiles and removed his own eyes away from the ever long manifesto that he wrote himself. Charles smiled at Erik and raised an eyebrow. " what's the matter? Something wrong?" Asked Charles knowing Erik far too well. He had known so much of Erik but it was he passion for love that drew him in closer. " nothing, nothing is wrong. I just wanted to say that... That I..." " come on Erik spill it out" said Charles softly beginning to become desperate to hear Erik's voice say " I love you"; to hear he's voice win him over despite their troubles. Erik was silent as he bit his lower lip but something inside him filled him with joy and happiness, something he haven't felt for a very long time. It was somehow destiny that Charles found him. It was Charles that befriended him, took him in like a brother. Since then Erik wanted more, he wanted to be closer to Charles. " I...I love you" He done it.
