What led to this (orufrey comic, cw an uncomfortable/creepy scene)

#witch hat tag #orufrey #er.... i'm too tired to have anything to say..i worked several days on this. #wait.. didn't i say just recently here that i probably wouldn't ever depict 'what if alaira is qifrey's sort-of ex'. What's going on #i don't even remember deciding to draw this..it's all a blur..i'm not sure why i WOULD decide to draw delicate scenes in my head #that i wouldn't really want to share with anyone/discuss so why did i draw it... #some part of me really really wants to draw things that are more and more true to myself... #maybe because of my alienation with most romance/shipping/dynamics the rest of the world depicts. #orufrey really is perfectly suited to me - what i read in the text and what is in my head. well anyway #i am TIRED of drawing poses and angles and..maybe now i will actually take a break from drawing bc of the tediousness of Angles #btw it really is a 'stretch of time' . . . assuming witches graduate age 18-20 #well orufrey are canonically 30-ish. they've only had agott around for presumably about TWO years (?) bc she took the test age 10 #and it feels like oru moving in/unknown atelier acquisition/building (?) .. i guess that could be a year or so before agott at most #(she was the first disciple) so... ????????? Unemployed Brimhat Hatred era #that time is very nebulous. after qifrey went to the tower i feel like it's been implied he and oru drifted apart a little. #certainly they didn't live together at first... no way. that doesn't feel like how it is based on things oru has said about becoming Eye #idk. I'm tired now. i don't usually think of alaira as necessarily qifrey's ex and this being how things went in that 'sliver of time'. #i usually prefer the idea that they have their first kiss with each other in their 30s cause That's Just The Orufrey Lifestyle #just felt like making a more relatable alternative view of my own Cai Orufrey Canon one time. btw im a big monoshipper and it hurt a bit #let's leave it there. this is surely the most i've worked on a 'single' art - though now i realise just how much longer the fic took :')

The Rosemary Tree is the first time I've had to put down a book so I could sob over how beautiful it was.

#elizabeth goudge how do you keep doing this? #her books are such a strange thing for me #either they're 'yes it's pretty but could you please get to the point and have something happen?' #or i am slammed with waves and waves of intense overwhelming emotion so i almost can't stand how deeply it affects me #i think it helps to read it at the same time of year the story occurs #the dean's watch during advent was a life-changing experience #and now reading this book in march is having a very similar effect #i actually had to go in a room by myself to properly cry #because someone caught me tearing up #and how could i begin to explain that i'm sobbing my heart out because miss giles is reading the secret garden? #i've cried over sad moments in books but i've never felt anything like this #such intense joy and sorrow all mixed in so you can't tell which emotion is causing the tears #it's been like two hours since that happened and i'm still shook #my world is upended #and i'm being reminded in an entirely new way of what really great literature can do #the rosemary tree #elizabeth goudge

I'm not really in the Hazbin/Helluva fandom nor do I consume their content as often. There is also the fact the fact their type of content isn't my usual content...

But you know the drill: Family stuff convinces me of anything, lol. Lucifer became an instant favourite character of mine. He was absolutely hilarious to watch, his relationship with his daughter made me emotional, and his song "More than anything" absolutely wrecked me gosh darn it! :'D

And with the implication that he might become part of the main cast gives me so much excitement for season 2.

#Just a bit of rant: #I do hope they actually explore more of his relationship with Charlie throughout the series now that the two talked it out. #Because as much of a loving father he is.. he was still no perfect father. But I hope he actually tries to improve. #Many years of a distant and awkward relationship with each other takes time to fix. #So there will be bumps here and there but I think they can do it. #Aside from his dad arc... Lucifer slowly growing to the idea of a sinner's redemption would also be cool. #Because let's be honest he doesn't seem to have hope for the sinners. He's not even into Charlie's cause considering how hesitant he was. #But he was still willing to help Charlie's dream even if he felt scared that she'll end up badly rejected like him. #So the idea of Lucifer slowly believing in that dream as he watches sinners actually try to redeem themselves sounds really cool #He would have a small glance of the good in people(or sinners in this case) and it gives him hope that things could get better. #And it was Charlie who showed him that hope. Who continued on his dream of bringing good. related to that last post that's kinda why i think cpsm revealing that javier had died three years earlier than lloyd is poignant in a very understated way.

javier's original fate was to live when everyone he cared about didn't. he was meant to be the protagonist of that world, to face all kind of threats and survive all of them, but with no one at his side.

he's the narrative's favorite but the narrative's love is not gentle and it is not kind and it will hold you close until you suffocate under its themes and parallels. for the world would bend itself for javier to be at it's center but it would not allow him the comfort of sharing that spot with anyone else.

he was always meant to be the last one standing. fate won't kill him but it won't allow him to die either.

and then comes lloyd with his plot breaking meddling saving everyone around them and shoving his way into the protagonist role, sharing the burden javier wasn't even aware he was carrying. and fate tries so hard to correct itself, it tries by all means possible to put things back the way they were meant to be, but in the end the best it can do is to try and make it so there will only be one main character in the world. the way it was always meant to be.

it concedes. it won't take away everything from its favorite anymore. but it won't stand for there to be two of them.

and the thing is. it wins. it gets what it wants. in the end javier can't save lloyd, he can't take his place, he can't keep him alive, he has to stand and watch him sacrifice himself for everyone else. for javier himself. in the end when the battle is over javier is again the last one standing.

when lloyd comes back and the fate restoration doesn't start up all over again, he thinks it's because lloyd frontera's original body disappeared and he came back in his own body. i don't think it was that. i think the reason fate didn't try to restore itself again is because it had already achieved what it wanted.

the narrative won. not completely. not the way it was originally meant to. but in the end javier ended up as the lone protagonist who watched his loved one die before his eyes.

only then was it satisfied and allowed javier to leave its grasp. only then was he allowed to become a person and not just the main character.

a person who could spend a lifetime with all of his loved ones and when the time came, die peacefully in his sleep, knowing at least the person he came to care the most about will outlive him. at least this time, he won't be the one left behind.

I noticed that in all the ffs Ezra and Reader are already in an established relationship (and that's something I love, don't get me wrong! I'm always soft for the two of them together)

BUT

I can suggest: Ezra and Reader pining for each other?

Ezra and Reader who are emotionally close, giggly and happy whenever they are near each other.

The whole Ghost crew knows there's something between them, but neither Ezra nor Reader want to say something because "they're just friends, and he/they don't see me that way."

Then Ezra disappears, sending Thrawn into exile.

And the relationship between Ezra and Reader remains stuck in what "could have been" and "what will never be"

When Reader, along with Sabine and Ahsoka, finally finds Ezra, the meeting is all tight, endlessly long hugs and radiant smiles.

Obviously not a meeting between "just friends".

But at the same time it's obviously not a meeting between lovers. How could it be, when they didn't have the opportunity to be more than they were?

But at least, for the first time in years, Reader feels completely at peace, despite any imminent threat. They has finally found Ezra, and maybe that's enough.
