I'm writing a fanfic for a friend (will not publish) and as a Heisen expert. What part of a carnival would give him the most delight. Torn between bumper cars and the dart game but I'm open to suggestions.

Oh my LORD. Do I have OPINIONS on carnival Karl.

I see your vision with the dart game. I do. He’d manipulate them to all be right on target but act like he was just that good. (Carnival workers HATE him! NOT CLICKBAIT!!!) And god knows he would be a menace at bumper cars. No man, woman or child is safe from him.

I am tempted to say the hammer game/test of strength/whatever they call it because he can BONK to his heart’s content. And display how ~totally strong~ he is. Or depending on what kinda fic this is can you imagine how ridiculous he’d be on a Tunnel of Love ride? Immediately banned for public indecency lol.

Anyway. My vote is either test of strength or darts. Something where he can actually win a prize to show off even if he looks like a giant asshat walking around with a teddy bear taller than he is.

okay, if it is not obvious, i have thought SO MUCH about disability in exandria, so heres a general worldbuilding headcannon vs character based hc but it's shown that disability isn't overly impactful in exandria. basically everything we've seen ranging from pcs like shakaste to big npcs like dancer and also smaller one off pcs like the moorbounder dealer in the city of beasts, whatever the name is, they're fully functional within society despite major physical disabilities and theres functionally not a whole lot of ableism at a surface level when it comes to worldbuilding (thanks matt).

however..... its not hard (for me) to extrapolate how the dynasty in particular would have a not great view on disability (thank u cherry for putting it into words as i was charlie day-ing over coping skills early on). it's not something that i talk about explicitly in coping skills (and may not since it would be really info dumpy and not vibe with the way i write or characterize the wizards lmao) but it's something ive spent a great deal of time thinking thru for the dang fic and my in-head notes are basically a) in a modern setting like coping skills, the healthcare situation moves at a glacial pace partly because elves live forever so what is a several year wait for a non emergent specialist issue and b) major disabilities, things that impact daily living to a significant degree that cannot be "fixed" with magic, are at best really only tolerated until anamnesis or consecution so the body can be reset into a more perfect form

i could wax poetic about the nitty gritty as it relates to coping skills specifically, but that is like, the base premise of 90% of the fic lmao

okay so, heres the thing: with the exception of a few squicks, if something is well written with some fukken *heart* i will eat up just about anything. theres some tropes i don't really get myself and haven't found anything with it that's interested me, like hanahaki, but i have fav fics involving things i notoriously avoid, like kid fic and hs aus. like legitimately, my absolute fav fic is a non explicit hs au, which considering i basically dont read non explicit fics OR hs aus is fucking wild

but callowmoore is just chefs kiss. i don't see anything necessarily romantic between them but i love the idea of the two of them bonding over being absolute gremlins. ashton definitely needs a charismatic wingman and fearne definitely needs someone who has (some level of) smarts re Doing Crimes, so the two of them playing off each other is just delightful and i love how soft they are with each other in cannon and in turn all the fanart (especially the forehead kiss???? im still not normal about that)

D - A pairing you wish you liked but just can’t.

hmmmmmmmmmmm okay i guess maybe reylo? the rots kiss was absolute garbage rey deserves better BUT i am in theory into her domming the shit out of him but reylo shippers as a whole soured me on the ship and now i just hhhh no thank you, even from authors i trust to write it in a way i'd enjoy :C

homestuck :I like part of it was definitely the Fandom Cycle of falling out if interest with something, especially once there stopped being new cannon i could access but a bigger part of it was seeing all my fav artists and writers in the fandoms, particularly the ones 30+, PARTICULARLY Black artist, being absolutely shat on by kids for the crime of... being adults in fandom spaces basically, or otherwise creating fanworks that featured non-white, non-thin depictions of the characters. i live vicariously thru @/roundandtalented when they spam share hs art because i still love those characters but yeesh ye olde tumblr hs fandom got VERY toxic

god i do not know if fandom as a whole has picked up on any of the various things i've built in my fics but tbh i think its absolutely hilarious how i inevitably write a porn/camming au for like every fandom i write multiple fics for. it happens, every single time. EVERY TIME. in fact, mine and cherry's sg camming au started with me lampshading this trend i have, laughing about how FINALLY here was a fandom where i couldn't write camming and make it work, except whoops i thought too hard on it and made it work. this occurred over the course of like..... a single evening. i had the basic outline sketched out within twenty minutes of me being like "theres no way i could write camming into critical role, NO WAY" i am not even exaggerating

so i guess maybe my hilarious contribution to critical role is the contemporary magical setting proof-of-concept???? cherry did say there werent really that many at the time i asked because i lov me some modern aus

There's a Yellowjackets fic whose final installment I'm planning to write tonight and hope to make something really special.

Arsonist of Paradise, my in-first-draft-progress novel (possibly to be serialized on my website if there's interest?) about a woman who ruins everything in her life and all of her relationships trying to prevent her prescription-drug-addicted husband from being packed away to a nursing home where he will, inevitably, die of COVID. It's very dark, it's using settings (2020 rather than either much earlier or much later) and tones (pitch-black comedy mixed with straight-up depressioncore) that I don't usually go for, and I really want to get it right because of how serious the subject matter is.

Kratos still hasn't told anyone WHY he has freakishly white skin huh.

Though, honestly, it would be a riot if like in 200 years when he has fully turned around the ashes go away and everyone is reeling from that.

Answering this one publicly because I have a headcanon about it:

I actually like that the ashes haven't gone away? Because it fits in with the themes (especially in Ragnarok) of how act ions have unintended consequences, the kind of consequences that can never be undone. So it's not just about Kratos's guilt/self-blame.

However, I did also have the idea that the ashes mostly go away, but some still linger around his hands. Like to show that balance of healing and permanent consequence. And yeah, everyone is like "wait you WEREN'T weird ash-white? This isn't a Greece thing??"

(...related note imagine anyone from the Norse era meeting the now-Roman pantheon and being actively surprised they're not all that skin tone LMAO)

Currently working on an aa fic where maya has never left kurain village basically because she never received any communication with Mia after she left.

Most of Kurain village decides "OK well. Clearly mia is dead" but maya can't believe that so on the day of mias funeral she runs away. And. Gets hit by a bus ITS FANTASY WORLD TIME BABY

So yeah she teams up with Phoenix (member of an essentially? Religious order but really it's just a set of ideals to follow) and Trucy (saved by Phoenix from her burning house and ushered out of the city on account of. The fire being 100% deliberately set)

And now they're buddies <3 a little team <3 trying to get maya back home and.... save the world?? :0

It's got prince miles. It's got actual crow Kay. It's got klapollo not knowing they're in love with each other. And. So much flower symbolism.

Festering was a very long time in the making and I really enjoyed writing Adam Jensen and Vaclav Koller. They have fun voices. 5. What work of yours got more feedback than you expected?

I got way more interaction on Three Strikes and You're Out than I expected. All my fanfics are always self indulgences in a way (if I don't write the idea I'll implode), but this year's picks felt especially niche-- very thankful for all the readers I got, and very thankful for all the fellow Mikhaila fans kdsjhfkjdshf

I generally just call him aro but more specifically: non-sam aro, heartless, and quoiromantic

How proud of being arospec are they?

He's very proud! Just a little nervous about showing it at first

Are they out? If so, how did they come out, and to whom?

Only to Strelitzia, who helps him figure out how he wants to come out. When he returns from Quadratum he first tells Kairi and Riku, then Roxas, Xion, and Ventus.

When he talks to Kairi and Riku they're super happy and supportive. For Roxas and Xion he causally mentions being aro in conversation. Ventus actually comes out to Sora as aro and then Sora is like "me too!"

How do they feel about romance? Romance-favorable? Romance-neutral? Romance-repulsed? Or does it fluctuate?

Fluctuates between indifferent, favorable, and averse. Sora is very affectionate but he's uncomfortable with calling it romantic. Sometimes ok with a soft romo relationship if things are clearly discussed first. I don't really see him as being romance-repulsed. He can tell when other people are in love and cheers them on from the sidelines. His own relationships though? Quoiromantic confusion

Have they ever experienced arophobia? If so, how?

Not really malicious arophobia, but sometimes people will make some arophobic/amatonormative comments about him and his friends without thinking

How do they show their arospec pride?

A white aro ring engraved with his crown emblem! Once he's out to his friends he's more open about showing his pride by wearing a pin and talking about aromanticism

Do they actively try to combat amatonormativity in their daily lives or elsewhere? If so, how?

He corrects people who make assumptions about his relationships and he'll talk to people about aromanticism when they're willing to listen

Was it easy for them to label themselves arospec, or was there a long period of questioning? How many labels did they have to try before landing on the one they use now?

He knew he was arospec pretty quickly once he first learned what aromanticism is, though he alternated using other arospec labels like demi or gray before settling on quoiromantic. He uses the heartless label after meeting Strelitzia

Would they be interested in a QPR? Why or why not?

Maybe? I like both partnering and non-partnering arospec Sora so it really depends on my mood tbh. My favorite qpps for Sora are Riku, Kairi, and Roxas (but I could also get behind a qpr with other characters too)

🌝 Who is one character you haven’t yet written for that you would like to?

I'm not really sure. Over the span of my many fandoms I have written a lot of different characters. But I guess I want to start breaking into the HEU (Hannibal Extended Universe). Maybe start with characters I'd be comfortable writing and work my way up to characters I'm not as familiar with. I'm pretty flexible as a writer that way, which is nice.

👖 Are you a planner, plantser, or pantser? Is it consistent?

I fall somewhere closer to pantser than plantser. I'm really bad about making plans, or sticking to them. I'm currently working on a fic that was supposed to be a one-shot and is now on chapter 10. Because I am a nightmare and surrounded by enablers. I need to try to reign myself in, but who knows if that will work. (It never does.) I like allowing the characters to tell their stories through me, instead of trying to shoehorn them into doing what I want. I built them the set, they get to play in it. Did I mention I am a nightmare lmao

So, like, genuine question.

Would you be interested in a fic where Aqua from Kingdom Hearts, due a dream I had like 15 years ago, is part little sister, arrives in RE village like... ten years before RE7 or 8 happen, Heisenberg meets her (and they mayor get into... some kind of a relationship) then kind of... gets the Lords to overthrow Miranda because Kingdom Hearts values of love and kindness and strength (when paired with a parasite that is simular enough to a cadou they consider her a step sibling) causes Miranda's work to absolutely crumble.

I have to admit I am woefully undereducated when it comes to KH lore but it sounds v interesting and I will happily read anything involving the stinky bargain bin Magneto!! ❤️ You should definitely do it and I’ll be there!
