okay. yea, immediately the "you were the sunshine of my lifetime" thing is sort of sus, because we all know pete wentz and anytime sun or summer is involved it's Something. this is solidified in "summer falling through our fingers again" in verse 2, but it's interesting that he uses "ours" in this lyric bc i feel like recently most of pete's summer lyrics have been pretty self-inflicted. it's impossible to not note the whole "inscribed like stone and faded by the rain" in the bridge v. "the tombstones were waiting" line in bang the doldrums. i shant even elaborate u can pick up what i'm laying down!

i think this song is pretty light on petekey imagery but "light from a screen of messages unsent" kinda reminds me of "some nights it gets so bad i almost pick up the phone" in ginasfs but i could be reaching for Sure. let's be real that's all i do

its been a really good spring so far, with so many of my faves releasing music, and obviously that includes sebastian. i remember watching the runway show this was made for, but for some reason i didnt hear the whole track - maybe it was just highlights or something? i really love the synths in this one. its unusual for him to bring the choral singing in the start instead of the climax of the track, but its really well done (as always)! i wish, i wiiiiiiiiish there was something happening about the new album, too.

charli's really being weird recently about everything but goddddddd this slaps so good. im usually not that big on gesaffelstein but i do love ag cook so much. its going to be such a good clubbing record like literally.... its crazy she STILL gets labeled hyperpop. i also like club classics, but b2b is TRULY superior out of this double drop....

the beat of this one is just stuck in my head at all times. its cute! fun! perfect for spring. theyre soon to release their debut album, i need to remember to check it out. while its not SOTY material so far, its just cool and pleasant.

ok i for sure posted this one before, but its ok bc it got like 0 or 1 likes or something. starwolf is a band im really hopeful for!!!! their 2020 album was pretty interesting, but its their three last singles that got my ears all perked up. some daytime disco vibes in them, and its really cool considering i was somewhat.... underwhelmed by poolside's last album. so, i feel good about starwolf now! fingers crossed for summer, as it would be a perrrrrrrfect record to replay over and over during hot sunny days.

and SUUUUUUUUUUUCHHHHHHHHH a spring favorite for the end. kind of getting lost in this one.... number one song i keep thinking of during sweet sunny walks recently. unbelievably cute. 10000% recommend.

"Thank you," I walk past the staff that just checked my ticket, entering the building with my friends behind me. "How long has it been since they had a concert?" Scaramouche comes up, surprising me. "A few months, I think? I'm happy we finally have new songs to hear and especially in this pit atmosphere." I look up towards the stage with excitement. "Exactly what I was thinking, these shows always feel like a dream," He lets go of some of his cold exterior. Always when he's thinking about the band's music he puts his guard down and becomes soft, I don't think he's going to get anywhere with that...

"So you've been going to these concerts since high school?" Kokomi chirps up from beside me, all of my friends also lined up at the pit while it starts to fill up with other fans. "Yes, ever since the first song I came upon accidentally, I've been obsessed. And the rest of you still don't consistantly listen to their music," I frown. "Maybe because hearing you blast it in the dorm is already enough for us," Lumine laughs.

"Look, I can't help myself,"

"And I won't be able to help myself from laughing when you get noise complaints," Scaramouche jokes.

"I don't want to hear it, we havent had any. Yet."

"Right..." Scaramouche trails off.

"When did you start listening to the band? How did you guys meet each other?" I bring up.

"Interrogation much?" He asks.

"I can't be curious about how a friend ended up the way he did? You definitely don't seem to be the type who fanboys over a band," I tease.

He pauses for a moment, swallowing down vile words that he was just about to throw at me. "I actually knew them before they released their first song, it was funny how we started interacting. They suddenly came up to me, of all people, asking me about my opinions on the song they were working on. Of course they're much better now compared to when they started, but it left me in shock back then, so I started tagging along for their practices," He explains.

"Really? For real? That's so awesome, I wish my first time was more interesting like that,"

"How did you find them?"

"It's pretty simple really, I was walking past some buildings at night and I heard music coming from a weird staircase. Turns out it was their first show, my curiosity got the best of me and now I'm here," I reminisce. There weren't many people in the building when they performed, but you could tell they were having the time of their lives and I immediately recognized them as fellow high school students. Didn't think I'd end up befriending those students after starting college.

"That's really cute though, you've ranted before about how you never had friends you truly felt close with, but now in college you finally have a group of close people, I'm proud of you," Beidou throws a hand over my shoulder, comforting me.

"Thank you, Beidou," I laugh, turning towards the stage.

Eventually, the lights dim to a dark shade, creating a hushed silence over the crowd that grew over time since we arrived. "Thank you for coming, everyone!" Kazuha walks out to the stage, the rest of the members lining up next to him. The crowd cheers, many of their hands waving around in excitement.

"Hello everyone! I'm Kaedehara Kazuha, the lead vocalist for the band Velvet Cigarettes. This is Xinyan, our lovely guitarist! This is Albedo, our bassist! And Chongyun, our drummer! Let's get this concert started, everyone!"

Everyone cheers in excitement, leaving my ears scared for what's to come for the next couple of hours.

The different lights up on the stage illuminate all the members and their instruments as they begin to play a song from their most recent album, filling the concert venue with beautiful noise. The atmosphere of the concert makes me completely forget about anything going on in my life, just thinking purely about how happy I am to be right here, right now.

I wouldn't trade anything for this, a world where I'm happy, with amazing friends, far from my family, and thriving at a concert of my favorite band.

"This song goes out to Y/N and the friendship I've grown to share with them," Kazuha squats down to the pit, scanning through the people to find me, running over when he spots where I'm standing.

When he grabs my hand from the crowd, he places his lips on it, leaving my hand with a kiss before returning to the show and performing the new song that he wrote for the concert specifically.

Fountain Baby by Amaarae.

i was literally abt to post abt this album today bc its all i've been listenin to. every single song is so good in it's own ways. im also obsessed w Amaarae's voice like ughh!!! it's been on rotation nonstop, i love everything about it. i love her approach to music, its unique but relatable? absolutely obsessed i cant even say anything more.

2. Jaguar II by Victoria Monet

i mean obviously OMM eats but it's such a good album. easy to listen to, so well made, good ole RnB to the fullest. and so BLACK. she's an incredibly lyricist and vocalist, and i feel like she's a storyteller in her music. you can feel her journey in each song. my recent fave is Alright, bc it was produced by Kaytranda and i love everything he makes. it's gold. i wish Victoria all the success in the world!!

3. Renassiance by Beyonce

im only putting it 3rd bc it came out last year. i saw the tour twice this year and it was absolutely everything. the album means so much to me as a black queer femme person but also i've loved beyonce's music since i was 5 yrs old so, it's just nice to have another amazing album from an artist that has grown w me. it still eats every time. America Has A Problem was my most listened to song last year and it was in the high hundreds lmao.

4. Birds, Bees, The Clouds and The Trees by Harrison

its jazz, melodic and gives me so much nostalgia. there's a lot of soul, but it also feels light, sorta like the name of the album suggests. my fave song so far is Outta This World ft TOBi. it's different than the other music on this list but i fr be listenin to almost every genre! jazz music or anything inspired by it will always speak to me.

5. The Barbie Movie soundtrack

i mean what can i say....i like the variety of music on the album and i think theres a lil something for everyone! i was genuinely addicted to the nicki n ice spice song. i think it's also interesting that the composer for the movie decided to enlist in all the top artist to make music for the movie playing into themes around pop culture and mass production....or its just fun pop music, who knows! it's great either way, i wouldnt say its my fave favee but i've been going back to it recently.

and the flopp...now yall who have been here KNOW that i am a tinashe stan downnn and 333 is still one of my fave albums off all time but im not feelin the most recent one :// idk why i just havent been able to rlly get into it. i might get baked n do a listenin party n see if that helps, but something abt this album doesnt feel as curated as the last? idk. but i still love her n applaud her artistry and doing it by herself in an industry tht didnt support her for years

Currently reading: im still working on the bocchi manga :3 i havent gotten to it in a bit but with the new kessoku band songs i perhaps should return to it

Last song: um thi s is absolutely a spoiler for a certain set of summer songs but ive been listening to this band operation sodasteal a lot recently, and my last song is the opener, DESCENT2EARTH on their album slaney vs sodasteal. give it a listen. perhaps it will be a sound of the summer :3c

Last series: hmmmmm deciding how i want to answer this. the last thing i watched was some spongebob last night before bed, BUT the last series i finished in full is the third installment of an anime called Teekyuu. its allegedly about girls in their high school tennis club but thats debatable, theyre off doing completely different shit. its so fast paced, like each episode is only 2 minutes making each 12-episode season like half an hour. but its so fast with jokes and dialogue i have to pause and go back a lot. its a very silly anime :3 there are 9 seasons of this!

Last movie: Jack and Jill (2011) starring Adam Sandler next question

Sweet, spicy, or savory: hmmm sweet for sure out of these, bc a girl loves her yummy sweet treats, but i would choose sour over everything if it were here.

Craving: just some instant ramen with all my usual fixings sounds good tbh. im. quite hungry actually. maybe ill eat something when im done with this.

Tea vs. coffee: i always have a gut instinct to answer coffee bc im not really a fan of hot tea which is how i imagine the platonic ideal of Tea in my head u know? and i do love a good chocolate minty coffeey beverage... but if were going off volume of drink then its tea 100% bc i destroy arizona teas like theyre nothing to me. but trust me, they are my world.

Currently working on: ahahaaaa ohhh well uhh... :) just doin my violet thing.... yknow... searching for truth.. falling asleep atop flowery hills on sunny days.... noticing..... yeah just the usual stuff i usually do.
