hawkeye pierce is such an odysseus. like his entire thing is that he WANTS TO GO HOME. my man just wants to go home to see his loved ones but can’t because the powers that be are making it impossible (hawkeye’s is the us military and odysseus’s is the gods) by throwing just off-the-wall obstacles at him. and along the way he just keeps losing everybody.

not to mention he is a clever trickster who totally would’ve played the “nobody” joke on frank if he could’ve found a way.

also odysseus was a reluctant draftee into the trojan war too (he tried to get out of it by feigning madness through salting the earth of his farmlands).

It may not be October, but it is Dracula Daily season! Fandom is full of werewolves and vampires, and winterhawk is not immune to the thrall of our beloved cryptids. We've got total AUs where shifters run entire towns or are integrated fully into human society, and we've got canon adjacent fics where the only difference is that someone turns kinda canine once a month, or seems to have a slight iron deficiency. It seemed to be another average day of trying to keep up with Tony around the Avenger’s Tower. As his personal secretary, you often work on site with him, even having your own workspace in the tower just a little ways away from Tony’s. 

You had just finished a long work session and dropped off the paperwork that Tony had asked for earlier, so you rightfully deserved a break. You made your way to the kitchen area for a snack, and while reaching, you accidentally knocked over an adjacent item. Not reacting fast enough, you were prepared to reach down to retrieve it; however, the arm of an unknown person caught it for you. 

Turning to see who had just helped you, you were faced with none other than Clint Barton, better known as Hawkeye. “Oh, um, you must be Hawkeye.” a startled laugh made its way through your sentence, still in a minor state of shock. “And you, sir, must be the new resident pretty boy.” Clint returned the fallen item to its place before leaning against the counter and looking at you with a small tilt of his head. “And please, call me Clint.”

You were somewhat taken aback by his comment, calling you pretty, but it didn’t show much on your face. “So tell me, what’s a guy like you doin’ in a place like this, huh?” His question had an air of playfulness and was accompanied by a quick look up and down that you didn’t miss. “Well, I’m just here to help out Tony, y’know.” Picking up on the subtle tension, you crossed your arms in front of your chest in a way that slightly flexed your biceps. “So I’ve heard.” A small smile tugged at both of your lips, a subdued mischievous energy surging in the space between you two as you held eye contact. Your focus was broken by Tony clearing his throat. “There he is, my favorite (favourite) assistant. Can I see you for a sec? It’s important.” With that, you said your goodbyes to Clint, with his eyes following you as you walked off. “Barton.” Tony snapped Clint out of the daze you had him in before making the gesture to say that he was watching him.

The so-called game of cat and mouse pressed on for weeks after meeting each other, and the intensity of Clint’s flirting only increased as time went by. It started out with cute nicknames and small innocent touches here and there, but eventually moved to gestures such as him squeezing your arm. It made you fall deeper and deeper each time, and it didn’t help that he would always check you out every time you talked to each other.

The most recent time was what pushed you over the edge. You were in the kitchen yet again when a familiar pair of arms found their way around you from behind. “There’s the pretty boy.” You playfully pushed his arms off of you before turning around with a smile. “Hey, Clint.” A flustered laugh always decorated your response to his pet names. The conversation continued almost effortlessly, both of you hanging on to each other’s every word. As your interaction flowed, Clint’s hand found its way onto your hip when he started, “Hey, I was gonna ask-” “Clint, meeting. Time to go.” He was interrupted by Natasha collecting him for a meeting they had talked about the other day. “Yeah, coming.” Clint closed his eyes and dropped his head with a smile as he responded. “We’ll talk later.” He whispered with a wink before joining his friend.

While you were working in your office, what Clint said earlier nagged at your brain. You weren’t naïve, so you had an idea of what he wanted to say. 

By the time the Avengers’ meeting ended, you finished your work session and went to find Clint, so you could continue your little exchange from before. You spotted each other as he was walking, to which you nodded your head toward your office. 

He soon caught up behind you, and you grabbed him by the collar to pull him inside. “Woah, uhhh...” Clint was caught off guard by your apparent eagerness to continue your discussion. “So about earlier.” Your hand left his shirt, but there was still a lack of distance between you two. “Yeah, about that. I was just gonna say you’re a great guy... and uh... I’d wanna-” His words fell to a whisper as his sentence went on, eventually cutting him off with a kiss as both of you slowly closed the distance between each other. A heated passion overtook the both of you as your arms found themselves around his neck and his around your waist. The craving for each other only grew as Clint licked your bottom lip and soon made its way into your mouth to dance with yours. An overflow of desire seemed to possess you, prompting you to kiss down his jawline and to his neck. “Ahh... wait. What if... what if someone... comes in?” Breathy moans escaped between words as you attacked the sensitivity of his sweet spot. You leaned over to the door to lock it with raised eyebrows. “Relax, okay?” You gently pushed Clint against the wall so you could have your full attention on each other.

Absolutely my favorite part of the swap. It just makes me crave for an actual Bandana Dee boss fight that actually does him justice. (also the Prince of Dreams/Beasts title itches something in my heart really well)

I'm not sure if it was intentional or if you even know who I'm talking about, but giving Bandana Dee a Scythe at some point (plus some wind abilities) really reminds me of General Gong the Hawkeye from Patapon, what with the whole high-ranking, scythe wielding, wind-adjacent thing. Probably just a coincidence tho, but I personally love it!

Hello there!! Oh my goodness, what a wonderful ask, thank you so much for telling me all of this! As a person who thrives on Words of Affirmation, these types of comments mean absolutely everything to me. <3

If I may go on a tangent about the shipping thing because I'm glad you brought that up. It's a huge complement to hear you say that because-

The Roleswap comic is not a story about romance. But it is about love.

While I am a personal lover of metadede and it fueled my initial creation of this story, I want to take the Roleswap AU in a different direction from a story that's focuses on a ship where "the main characters act the way they do because they are in love or a couple." A "partnership" like theirs can possibly be interpreted as a build up to a romance. But it doesn't have to be! So there's no blatantly romantic interactions anywhere in this story like what may be found in my non-Roleswap, specifically metadede labeled content (Like kisses, confessions of love, etc.).

Dedede and Meta do love each other, like the other protagonists of Kirby love each other. Kirby, Bandana Dee, all the other Waddle Dees, the Meta-Knights, and the friends they've made over the years. The love between many of them has developed over the entire series! They've all come a long way from fighting each other to trusting one another and even having fun together!

I see the love between the Kirby protagonists as one where they care about and want the best for each other. They may not always understand the other's thoughts and motivations. But they respect them and learn to complement each other's differences. They protect each other in battle. They grow together and learn to bring out the best in each other.

So how could two very different and powerful authority figures like Dedede and Meta come together to save their friends and family, and navigate a huge world and an unknown conflict together? That's the main question I want to present in this story.

Whatever the interpretation of the King and Knight's relationship a reader may have, I'm most happy about the fact that this comic has readers!!!

Anyway!! Back to your ask! :D

Primal Bandana Dee means a lot to me too! The only reason this comic exists is because I also wanted a cool boss fight for him, and I had just finished playing Forgotten Land for the first time. It all just branched out from there. I wish I could just spill everything I have planned for him, but alas! I have a story with a set order to tell! I will say that if anyone is worried about not seeing him until the Winter Horns area, that he will make appearances before that. Just stay tuned!

And hey. This is an AU of an existing story. We know how the canon ending went already. To keep things interesting I have to include some surprises in my version down the line somewhere, right? ;)

I also haven't heard of Patapon so the resemblance between General Gong and Bandee is a coincidence! I did look it up and General Gong looks cool!! I respect scythe wielders, haha. Thanks for telling me! If this is a game I have the ability to play it could be fun to check it out!

New Roleswap update is coming soon! I feel bad that it's been about a month and I left it on a bit of a cliffhanger. But my personal and work life is slowing down enough for me to make more progress on the next pages! Our heroes will get out of the underground tunnel soon! :O

All Out of Love by @sun-tomato / SunTomato (33k, G, Harry/Louis, Big Bang fic, Soulmates, Cupid Harry, Cupid Niall, human Louis, supernatural fic, magic, holy shit the way the author created the entire world, and structured everything was fascinating and beautiful and heartbreaking and just, wow, angst, with a happy ending, but you do cry holy hell do you cry, at least i did lol, so fucking good)

Under a Bronze Moon series by @soidiallednine / soidiallednine (38k, M, Harry/Louis, Wordplay fic, I specifially read parts 2-6 this month, sci-fi AU, warring planets, Harry and Louis are enemies-ish, secret relationships, enemies to lovers, the journey they go on is truly incredible, action, danger, the worldbuilding is incredible, just all of it is so fucking incredible, it was one of my favorite stories i've read this year)

Camboy on Lockdown series by @reminiscingintherain / reminiscingintherain (12k, E, Harry/Louis, Wordplay fic, I specifically read parts 3-6 this month which were for wordplay, camboy Louis, quarantine, strangers to lovers, flirting, lots of smut lol, this entire series was so funny and hot and so amusing, it's such a fun read i loved it)

Where the World has Come Together by @londonfoginacup / LadyLondonderry (26k, M, Harry/Louis, Big Bang fic, fantasy AU, magic, protectors, halfling Louis, vampire Harry, secret identities, enemies to lovers, action, i don't think i can fully explain this fic to anyone but i fucking loved every moment of it)

Chasing, Searching, Dreaming by @parmahamlarrie / parmahamlarrie (46k, E, Harry/Louis, Big Bang fic, soulmates AU, friends to lovers, pining, all the pining, SO MUCH PINING OMG, grief, angst, with a happy ending, single dad Louis, kinda, he's newly become the parental figure for the little twins, this fic was so beautiful and the art was amazing and just wowowow)

A Friend's Gambit - Wordplay 2020 series by @laynefaire / Layne Faire (HisDarlin) (16k, T/NR, Zayn/Liam, Wordplay fic, I specifically read parts 2-5 this month, strangers to friends to lovers, wisdom teeth removal, this was so sweet and funny and just lovely from start to finish, these characters were so soft and i wanted to take care of all of them, and i'm in the series so you can enjoy me as a dental assistant hehe)
