With all the hazmat discord going on in the Torchwood fandom has got me thinking, do the villains need to wear one? Like with Lisa, I expect nothing less and Mary would “do anything for her Toshiko” but can you imagine the team not only trying to ‘disarm’ John Hart but also trying to get him in a hazmat suit? The chaos that would bring. Let’s not even start on the two-time travel bois, who just appear in the values.
One a slightly unrelated note, do you think the weevils have their Torchwood issued hazmat suit?
Juggernaut has a soft spot for kids
Despite being a superpowered thug, Juggernaut has a soft spot for kids (if they aren’t fighting him).
In the much-reviled Chuck Austen’s X-Men, the only bright spot of the run was the character development of Juggernaut (Cain Marko) when he had a friendship with a young mutant kid called Squid Boy (Sammy Pare). When Squid Boy was forcibly taken out of Xavier’s School back to Canada, Juggernaut promised Sammy that he would visit him as often as he could. However, Sammy’s life became much worse at home. His father continued to beat him and Sammy dreamed of his time at Xavier’s and wished he had someone strong like Juggernaut to protect him. His father refused to believe Sammy was even his own son anymore, he was so disgusted in his mutation. The beatings didn’t stop that he ran away from home. Despite the international law, Juggernaut traveled to Vancouver to visit his young friend and after seeing the bruises on Sammy’s face completely lost it. In Cain’s mind, no one was going to hurt Sammy the way his father hurt him. Juggernaut threw Sammy’s father through the walls of his house and was met with resistance from Alpha Flight who turned up. Even as Juggernaut went on his rampage, Sammy knew he would never hurt him or his mother and when Cain realized that he was hurting Sammy more than helping, he stopped fighting. Cain avoided a long prison sentence when Sammy’s mother made an impassioned plea to drop the charges and sent Squid-Boy back to Xavier’s.
In Avengers Academy comic, Juggernaut’s soft spot with kids was a running trait during his time with the Thunderbolts and when he gave (surprisingly good) life advice to the students of Avengers Academy.
In the recent Juggernaut mini-series, Juggernaut and D-Cell smash their way into the Dungeon Max Penitentiary, a for-profit superhuman prison. After a nasty skirmish and failed escape attempt (as the prison was actually a flying helicarrier), the duo reluctantly go back inside, not wanting to risk themselves in falling to their deaths. The warden demands they surrender to the custody of The Dungeon, which is contracted by the U.S. Government. Juggernaut says D-Cel is a mutant and requests Asylum on Krakoa, invoking the treaty. The warden reluctantly lets them go but if they do that again, he would catch them again.

Twenty One Pilots and WWI
- trench warfare was a huge part of WWI, soldiers dying over inches of territory, a generally hopeless and miserable situation
- chlorine gas was one of the poisonous substances used against enemy forces
- because of poison gases, gas masks were commonly worn by soldiers (i’m sorry if that question I asked last scared you a bit like a hazmat, in a gas mask)
- flame throwers were used to intimidate and scare people from trenches (i’m flying from the fire, from nico and the niners)
- the pilots of WWI had a very high casualty rate (it was impressive to survive 5 missions) and they carried with them a pistol in case their plane caught fire or they got stuck, so that they could end their life quickly in a hopeless situation
The Ace picked up a blanket folded in a cubby near the door. But before he left, he glanced back.
The blanket had slipped, and the white could not hide the rising black bruises that stained patches over Morsov's skin.
With a deep breath the Ace stepped back out into the warren, waiting. Before long, a pup passed by, and the Ace flagged it down.
“Here's a half bar. Take this blanket to Imperator Furiosa, and tell the Imperator that I'll catch up. Got something that needs doing.”
While the Ace waited for another pup to pass by, he stepped back into the nest and found his bar cache, taking out two full bars. One for the run and one for the silence. It would be the only thing that guaranteed a message sent to the Immortan's Tower stayed safe and sealed away.
