Those bastards at HBO canceled The Nevers after airing half of its first season damn near two years ago. This is after they killed the second season of Lovecraft Country following its phenomenal first season. They also decided to end Doom Patrol in favor of their thrice reworked "vision" of the DCEU. And now that I think I want to watch The Last of Us, I have nothing but bitterness over other great shows that they abandoned. I'm gonna wait this one out.

Thunderstorms
Tumblr media
Captain Magnum x gn!reader
ask: Don't really know how this works I haven't been on here long enough but uh- if your still taking requests for Markipliers egos and stuff could you do a Captain Magnum x reader who has a huge phobia of thunderstorms and Magnum notices while there's a thunderstorm going on and comforts them :')?
A/N: I wrote this during a thunderstorm so I could keep track of my movements when I got scared. That is my official excuse for how long this took. I missed Magnum so much. Nothing but respect for my Captain. I’ve been into pirates recently because of Our Flag Means Death streaming season 1 now on HBO Max. Also, my writing teacher has assigned us to write everyday but she never said what so expect extremely short bullshit posted more often. Maybe on Ao3. I don’t use tumblr anymore lmao.
Word Count: 1.5k
Warnings: Uh. Destiny 2 reference. Battleblock Theatre reference. Mention of. genitalia. yep. Fear of thunder.
--
In hindsight, you probably should have mentioned the extreme fear of thunder before you joined a pirate crew. On the sea. Where storms… happen. And they happen frequently. And strongly. And loudly.
You had no idea how they could do that. Stand out there. With the wind whipping the sails and waves throwing the boat the rain stinging their skin and the lightning striking anything it found and the fucking noise. The boom of the thunder. The explosions deep in the sky, a threat from the gods telling you mortals that you could die at any moment. It was fucking angry. Like Poseidon invited you to Olympus for dinner and you slapped him in the face.
Not that the crew cared. The crew was fucking joyous. The crew… the crew was fucking dancing, goddammit. You couldn’t tell them now. You couldn’t. It’d be the death of any respect they might’ve had for you. You were pretty sure you heard Magnum's booming voice yelling "COME ON! GIMME ALL YE GOT! YE DON'T HAVE THA BALLS".
You couldn't tell them now. You couldn’t.
The door swung open, cracking the wall, and making you flinch. Magnum waltzed in with a laugh that reminded you of Lord Shaxx to a degree.
"Hoo, the waters be wild tonight, eh, mate?" He stomped into the room, hands on his hips. He looked around, but you weren't sitting in the room. His smile fell. "Mate? Where are ya?"
"In here." You called from the wall. A hole in the wall, moreso. A hide hole. Behind the mirror. It came with the ship, or so you were told.
He bounded over and opened the mirror, leaning his head to the side to see. You were sitting on the floor, knees to your chest. He frowned.
"What're ye doin', child?" He asked. You shrugged in response. "Couldja get outta there?"
You shook your head.
"Why not?"
You shrugged.
"Alright then." He closed the mirror and you thought that was the last of it. At least until you heard the distinct sound of wood cracking and breaking and splintering, making you hit the deck for fear that the storm had just gotten that strong.
You looked up once it stopped to see Magnum holding the mirror. The one attached to the wall. That was no longer attached to the wall. It was basically a door, honestly.
"... hi." He said. You blinked at him.
"Hi, Cap." You sighed.
He looked around your cabin a moment before deciding to just set the mirror against the nearest wall. He then shuffled into the hide hole, needing to duck down quite a bit, and plopped down next to you with his legs resting high up on the wall.
"... what's tha matter?" He asked, softer than you were used to from him.
"There's no matter. Nothing's the matter. I'm fine." You rambled, avoiding his gaze. Your eyes flicked back to him, where he sat squinting at you, scrutinizing.
"Don't lie to me. I can see it in your eyes." He waved a finger at you. You looked back at him and tilted your head.
"Really?" You raised your eyebrows.
"No, but ya just admitted ya lied, so mission accomplished." He laughed. You scoffed.
"Oh, you're an asshole." You shook your head, but had a smile on your face.
"Oi! I may be an ass, but I am no asshole, y'understand?" He teased.
"10-4, good buddy." You nodded and stared at the wall in front of you.
"... what's tha matter?" He asked again.
"That mirror was stronger than I thought it'd be." You brought the conversation in a completely different direction. Magnum looked back at the new hole in the wall. He then looked at you, suspicious.
"Fuckin' strong for some glass and wood." He agreed nonetheless.
"I thought it'd shatter, but she's still intact. Fuckin… fuckin strong-ass storm, but she's intact… she's alright… for now…"
Alright, maybe not completely different a direction.
"... what's tha matter?" He repeated for the third and final time.
"Nothing. I'm fine." You shook your head.
"You said." He quirked an eyebrow.
"Then why're you asking?"
"Cause I don't believe you."
"... right. Ok." You took a deep, calming breath, reminding yourself that your captain wasn't shallow. Well, actually, he was shallow. Extremely so. But he liked you. He was your friend. Maybe a little more, though you weren't sure whether it was further in the platonic direction or veered into romantic. You exhaled and turned to your captain. "Magnum."
"Hm?" He hummed his acknowledgement, giving you the softest eyes you've ever seen from him.
"You like me, right?" You started. He squinted at you once more.
"... mm-hm?" He hummed, already not knowing where this conversation was headed.
"And you respect me?" You continued.
"Yeah…?" He snickered, bringing his hands up and dropping them back on his thighs.
"And that won't change right?" You begged.
"Not unless ya give me reason to. Where're ya goin' with this, mate?" He crossed his arms and shifted so that he was facing you a little more. His eyebrows were furrowed and he looked confused and worried. You didn't like it.
"... Magnum, I have… a confession." You turned to face him fully. He looked you up and down, trying to investigate your body language.
"... go on." He raised an eyebrow again.
"I'm afraid of thunder." You blurted out. For a moment, neither of you said anything. That continued for about 3 more moments.
"... and?" He said, eventually.
"What?" You asked.
"Is that it?" He started to laugh.
"Wh-yeah." He sighed and clapped a strong hand on your shoulder, making you wince.
"Mate, we all have fears."
"Yeah, but mine's… dumb…" You mumbled. You tucked your knees into your chest and turned away from him.
"... I'm afraid of something." He murmured after a few seconds. You snapped your head up to look at him.
"What is it?"
"... rats." He sighed. You barked out a laugh. He gaped at you, incredulous. "Oi!"
"I'm sorry I just… remembered elephants and… yeah. It-yeah. You're just so big, it seems so silly." You rambled, still giggling.
"I'm trying to comfort you on your fear, and you're over there laughing at mine!" He scolded.
"I'm not, I get it! You're just… why would they be ascolded. To you, specifically?"
"Are ya serious! Y'ever heard of the plague?"
"Vaguely aware of it."
"Nasty, nasty business."
"You afraid of mice?"
"Nah, mice're cute."
"Well, that's presumptuous. Mice can spread disease."
"So yer afraid of thunder." He cut off the debate once he knew you'd made a reasonable point. You rolled your eyes.
"Yeah. The only good thing about a storm is the rain. And rainbows."
"It's just water. And light."
"It's pretty. But I'm hiding here. From the storm."
"Mm. A'right. I'll wait too then." He stated. You frowned.
"Oh, you don't have to. Go enjoy the storm. Don't mind me." You waved your hand towards the door. He matched your frown.
"Well, no. I can't leave ya alone. What kinda cap'n doessat make me?" He scoffed.
"You like the storm." You pointed out.
"There'll be other storms." He countered.
"You can't be with me for all of them."
"I can be with ya for this one." You tried to stare him down. He stared back. You soon got very, very uncomfortable and looked away with a tsk.
"... fine." You acquiesced. He smiled apparently pleased with himself.
You both sat there as the storm raged on. You flinched and covered your ears at any particularly loud BOOM, and Magnum flinched at your flinching. Whenever he thought you were being a little dramatic, he thought back to when a rat had gotten onto the ship and he screamed like a 5 year old girl he accidentally frightened once. That shut the thought down as quick as it popped up. He squeezed your shoulder when you whimpered and rubbed your back when you curled in on yourself.
Eventually, he couldn't take it anymore. He looked at your shaking figure and it made him feel so… what, sad? He hadn't felt sad since '04. So he made a decision.
He grabbed you by your upper arms and dragged you towards him, putting you in his lap. Your back was against his chest and he wrapped his arms around your middle.
"Mags?" Your voice cracked when you tried to ask what was happening.
"Try to go to sleep." He instructed. Another loud boom made you flinch hard.
"I can't…" you whispered. He sighed and rested his chin on your head.
"... dream of quiet places. Light wind and sprinkles of rain on a sunny day. Maybe a rainbow, if you'd want. Birds and worms and koi fish. All the dumb shit ya like. I'll bring ya to land soon and you can enjoy the quiet. Just… deal with it for now." He squeezed your middle. You closed your eyes and took a few deep breaths, the vibrations from his chest soothing you a bit.
He moved his hands to gently cup your ears. The sound it made calmed you a little. He slowly opened them again and flattened his palms to try and protect your ears from any further noise.
"Night, Mags…" You muttered.
"Night, mate." He rumbled back, not knowing if you could hear him or not.
It stormed through the night, and he made sure to wake you up to see the rainbow that appeared on the horizon. You stared at the rainbow, unaware that he had chosen to stare at you instead.

Our 10 Favorite Music Moments From Euphoria Season 2
Tumblr media
Photo: HBO
Another season of Euphoria has come and gone, and people are still shocked by the dramatic events of season two. We saw the characters go through betrayal, growth, self-destruction; we even got an iconic dance number starring everyone's favorite underappreciated boyfriend, Ethan. (Yes, I'm an Ethan stan. He deserved better.)
Anyway, this season's soundtrack didn't fail in acting as a carefully curated vehicle to move the story forward sonically. Below are our top ten favorite music moments of Euphoria Season 2.
Billy Swan - "Don't Be Cruel"
The season opens with an unexpected flashback of Fez's childhood. His gunslinging grandmother marches into the strip club and shoots Fez's father in the pelvis. When she walks back to the car, the line, "Baby, it's just you I'm thinkin' of," plays on the radio as she tells a bruised and battered Fez that he's going to live with her now, away from his cruel and abusive father, and kicking off the fate that is to befall our favorite, loveable drug dealer.
Orville Peck - "Dead of Night"
youtube
In the first episode, Nate drives Cassie to the New Year's Eve party. Unfortunately, he speeds up to 100mph, and as a result, she spills her drink all over herself. Nevertheless, the tension between them builds, leading to them getting together behind Maddy's back. "Dead Of Night" is about a whirlwind romance that ultimately ends in tragedy, foreshadowing what's to come.
Gerry Rafferty - "Right Down the Line"
The song, which was featured in the official trailer, makes two distinct appearances this season. In episode one, the song plays when Rue and Fez are told to strip by Laurie and company. In episode two, it plays when Rue ditches dinner with Jules to do drugs with Elliot. "Right Down The Line" is a mellow and vulnerable song that describes how Gerry feels about his lover. Gerry suffered from alcoholism for most of his life, and in the song, he praises his lover for helping him through the dark times in his life, saying she is the only one he can "lean on."
Lil Xan and Noah Cyrus - "Live or Die"
While in a somewhat comatose state, Nate fantasizes about Cassie and the life they could have together. The montage includes scenes of a pregnant Cassie and her subsequently giving birth. Given that this song is sung by a couple that didn't last, it only foreshadows just how doomed this toxic relationship is from the start.
INXS - "Never Tear Us Apart"
youtube
After their high school graduation, Cal and Derek seek shelter from a storm in a gay bar. After a fair share of drinks, the two best friends dance with each other, culminating in them giving into their repressed desires and ultimately kissing. But unfortunately, this is Euphoria and lovers do get torn apart once Cal finds out that his girlfriend and future wife, Marsha, is pregnant.
Bobby Darin - "Call Me Irresponsible"
While high, as per usual, Rue lip-syncs and dances around her house with a pillow to the appropriately named song, making a mess in the process.
Ben E. King - "Stand By Me"
In episode six, Fez and Lexi watch the ‘80s classic Stand By Me and sing along to the song. Lexi later talks about the play that she's poured her heart and soul into, lamenting over everything she couldn't say to everyone's faces and wonders if it may do more harm than good. Fez reassures her that no one will have a problem if the stage production is anything like the movie.
Bonnie Tyler - "Holding Out For A Hero"
youtube
It only makes sense that Lexi incorporated this ‘80s hit into her play. Kat's ex-boyfriend Ethan, who single-handedly played most of the characters in the play, lip-synced his heart out to this hilarious and entertaining homoerotic dance number, earning himself a standing ovation for his performance. Ethan proves what we knew all along; he truly is a hero.
Dominic Fike (written by Zendaya and Labrinth) - "Elliot's Song"
The touching scene shows Elliot apologizing to Rue for worsening her addiction issues and betraying her by telling Jules and Rue's mom Leslie that she had been using. As part of this apology, he sings a song he's "still working on" for her, accompanying himself on guitar. It’s a tender, heartbreaking send-off to a friend.
Zendaya and Labrinth - "I'm Tired"
This grand, church-inspired song is ethereal yet grounded. In episode four, a high and emotionally and mentally exhausted Rue is caught in a surrealistic memory of her late father and walks through church doors, passing by an entire congregation. At the front of the imaginary church stands Labrinth himself, singing "I'm Tired," a song he co-wrote with Zendaya and Levinson. The singer then transforms into her father, and she cries and apologizes for not being a good person. In the finale, Rue shares in the closing narration that she stayed clean the rest of the school year and wants to continue working towards being a good person.

                                               DAENERYS I
It was after what must have been the tenth time she’d looked up toward the door that evening, when she concluded he was not coming. This was a time for war after all, she had reminded herself. His mind was surely preoccupied with strategies surrounding the Northern threat. It was highly likely that he did not even spare a thought of her at this point.
She fell gently into a chair and stared at a flickering candle in her cabin. She was nearly positive that Jon Snow had wanted to sail together for more alternative motives than just proving that they were allies. Now she wasn’t so sure. He didn’t show for supper or provide any indication that he wasn’t coming. The last time she had seen him was when they stepped foot on the ship early this afternoon. After that, they had gone their separate ways.
Was she out of her mind? Did she imagine these previous encounters in her head? It had been Jon who took her hand first on the ship back from the Wall, it had been Jon who gazed at her constantly when he thought she wasn’t paying attention, and it had been Jon who insisted that they sailed together for White Harbor. That was the last time they’d spoken to each other; when she agreed that they should sail together. She kept analyzing every word and mannerism he had made that morning at the council discussion. She doubted he was thinking of this—or any other encounter he’d had with her for that matter. And he certainly had not been replaying it constantly in his mind as she had.
Dany let out a sigh and pinched the bridge of her nose. What kind of madness had she been overcome by? He insisted they sail together yes, but she had been utterly insane to do so! Of course she couldn’t ride Drogon into the North, that would not go over well. But perhaps they should’ve sailed on separate ships. Being here and knowing that he was somewhere on this same ship with her, was driving her mad.
And he didn’t even come to supper! She had waited and waited, but he did not show. Since they stepped on the ship and went their separate ways, she had thought of nothing but seeing him again. Ser Davos and Tryion had suggested they dine without him, but she insisted that they wait. The excitement and adrenaline rush of seeing him had overcome all of her other emotions in that moment. She was certain he would come… that he was just running a little late. Surely, she lost count of how many times she had turned toward the door when her imagination convinced her that she had heard them opening.
But he had not come.
And so, in the hours that followed, Dany’s excitement had fizzled. And with it, her confidence that Jon Snow had felt something more towards her than just an alliance.
Now, after retreating to her cabins for the night, Dany had convinced herself that this entire affair was an utter fiasco that she had imagined in her head. She was right, Jon Snow’s not in love with me.
She folded her arms across her chest and focused in on the flickering candle once more. And I’m not in love with Jon Snow. Dany’s stomach instantly did a little flip at the thought.
The mere thought of him sent her emotions into a frenzy. The pair had spent a great amount of time in one another’s company and she’d grown used to him. When they weren’t discussing the Northern threat or the Southern one, they had passed the time talking to each other. About anything and everything. For Dany, Jon was the most fascinating person she had ever met. His life was entirely different to anything she had ever expected from him.
From being the bastard of Winterfell, to a member of the Night’s Watch, to Lord Commander, to King in the North, Dany took in every aspect of it. Not to mention, he was a remarkable leader, strong, passionate and handsome. Dany was in complete awe of him.
Dany could not help but to feel a heat creep slowly up her neck at the thought of the first time she’d felt something stir deep inside her due to Jon Snow. Back at the caves at Dragonstone, Jon had shown her the dragonglass. But it was when he’d placed his hand overtop of her own to guide her in the direction of the drawings of the white walkers, that she’d first felt something for the Northern king. They were in such close proximity, they were alone, they…
A soft tapping sound at the door stirred her from her thoughts.
Without warning, Dany’s heart quickened at a rapid pace. She could hear the echo of it’s thumping in her ears as she rose to her feet. She smoothed her dress out with both of her hands and sat up taller, her shoulders straight. “Come in.”
The door opened, revealing Missandei.
Dany felt her shoulders instantly drop and every last bit of hope drain from her.
Missandei bowed once and murmured a “your grace,” but Dany hardly noticed. She clenched her hand into a fist, placing it against her lips, and turned her head to look away from her. Frustration consumed her instantly.
“You have been alone in here for quite some time this evening, your grace,” Missandei said softly. Dany could tell she was trying to tread lightly.
“I’m tired, that’s all,” Dany replied absently, not even glancing up at her.
Missandei stood opposite of her, “shall I draw you a bath?”
Dany shook her head.
“Your grace, forgive me, but is something wrong? You have been acting different lately.” Missandei said, her eyes full of concern.
“I don’t know what you mean,” Dany told her, while still refusing to meet her eye.
“Yes you do,” Missandei replied stubbornly, “You are not yourself.”
Dany finally raised her eyes to look at her. She could see the concern written all over Missandei’s face. “My friend, you imagine this. I am fine.”
Missandei studied Dany’s face. She was not at all behaving like she usually did. Dany was strong. She was usually so honest and sure of herself. She wore her heart on her sleeve and was never afraid to express her thoughts, especially with Missandei. The pair had always been open with each other. Dany was the closest thing that Missandei had ever known to family. For Dany’s mind had to be preoccupied, she looked so conflicted as of late… it had to have been—
“Your grace… you would tell me if you had developed feelings for someone, would you not?”
A small blush graced Dany’s cheeks as she looked down once more. Missandei had known the Dragon Queen for quite some time now and she had never once witnessed her blush. It was a small one indeed, but it did not go unnoticed.
“Would your strange behavior have anything to do with Lord Snow?” Again, Missandei treaded lightly. She knew that Dany had been infatuated with him, but the two had never actually had the chance to discuss him in private or her Queen’s feelings for him.
Dany didn’t respond, instead, she surprisingly offered a small—almost saddened, smile.
Feeling as if she had pried enough for one evening, Missandei bowed once more, “Forgive me, your grace. It is not my place to ask such questions. I’ll leave you to get some rest.”
As she turned to leave, she stopped suddenly when Dany spoke softly, “Missandei… do you believing in such a thing as love at first sight?”
Daenerys Targaryen was indeed a strange girl at times. To anyone who did not know her, she appeared to be made of steel. Nothing could touch her, nothing could faze her. But Missandei, and the few others who were close to her knew that really, she was just as delicate… and as breakable, as anyone else.
Missandei thought for a moment, thinking of how to answer the unexpected question. “I would actually rather hope that it did not exist.”
Dany’s eyes shot up to meet hers suddenly. That was not the answer she was expecting. She furrowed her brows in confusion, “How so?”
I mean to say, why would anyone want a love like that to exist? It’s such an empty and meaningless love. A type of love that is based on value for the person, by their looks alone. A connection could be felt, of course… but not love.” Missandei paused and thought of her own love. She did not love Greyworm at first sight. She grew to love him, due to who he was as a person. “How could anyone truly fall in love with a stranger? You know nothing of their heart.”
Dany pondered this. She didn’t love Jon Snow at first sight. She actually disliked him. She did grow to like him as an ally, but it was based on pure alliance, not love. Even in the caves at Dragonstone, she did feel a deep connection and stir of feelings towards Jon, but she still didn’t call it love. No—it wasn’t until the day they had discussed Eastwatch and their plans to capture a wight that Dany began to feel more strongly towards him.
The freefolk will never follow Ser Jorah. They won’t have to. The words sometimes echoed in her mind when she least expected them. In that moment, Dany had feared for him. She had feared losing him. And she almost had. Leaving him behind was one of the hardest things she’d ever had to do. She thought for sure she was leaving him for dead. She had swore to herself while waiting for him at the Wall that she would never forgive herself. For she would have lost not only Viserion, but Jon as well.
But Jon had returned and the relief she felt was immeasurable. She stayed by his side for days, waiting for him to awaken. When he finally had, he had called her “Dany.” Something that tugged at her heart strings, though she would never admit it. Not only that, he had called her “My Queen.”
Then just days earlier at the Dragonpit, he remained loyal to her, no matter the cost. Jon had looked so distressed when Cersei put him on the spot. But still, he did not back down. “I cannot serve two queens. And I have already pledged myself to Queen Daenerys of house Targaryen.”
And later when she finally had a moment alone with him, they’d discuss the dragons that had been locked away in the pit. How this act was the beginning of the end for her family. Without dragons, the Targaryens weren’t extraordinary, they were just like everyone else. Dany truly believed this. Without her dragons, there would be nothing special about her. She would be just like everyone else. “You’re not like everyone else.”
Somewhere along the line, she wasn’t exactly sure when, there were so many memories at this point, but she fell in love with Jon Snow.
Dany placed her hand over her heart and drew in a deep breath and exhaled, finally realizing it for the first time. A smile danced across her lips.
She was in love with Jon Snow.
“I should bid you goodnight, your grace,” Missandei said. Dany looked up to her and was met with a knowing smile. She gave her a small nod and smiled in return.
Quietly, Missandei exited the room.
The moment she was gone, Dany rose to her feet. Her hands were shaking as she began to pace the room back and forth. She had to see Jon. Even if he didn’t feel the same, she had to know. The thoughts of loss confidence and conflicted thoughts had all evaporated into thin air.
She smoothed out her dress with her hands a few more times—a nervous habit.
Tomorrow. Tomorrow she would talk to him alone. She would ask him what his intentions are with her. She wanted to know why he insisted they sail together. It couldn’t be just for show. It couldn’t. It was settled. She would confront him tomorrow.
Three stiff knocks at the door halted her pacing. Slightly confused, she looked to the direction of the door. Did Missandei return? No, she wouldn’t have knocked that loud. Perhaps it was Tryion. But what was he doing, visiting her at this hour?
Dany approached the door and placed her hand on the knob. She hesitated ever so slightly, but didn’t allow herself to linger. In one swift motion, she turned it and threw the door open.
Her eyes were lowered, expecting to meet the gaze of Tryion. Instead, her eyes flickered up instantly to meet dark brown ones that belonged to Jon Snow.
She parted her lips slightly as if she were going to say something, but closed them once more.
Holding his gaze, the pair watched each other for a moment, until she lightly pushed the door open further, inviting him in. She watched him step forward and a small smile almost dared to appear across her lips.
Once inside, he stood beside her, his eyes never leaving hers, as he gently closed the door.
They stood there in silence once more for a mere second. Dany didn’t know if she should say something or wait for him to, but she quickly had her answer.
Jon took hold of her face so suddenly and when he leaned in,  and their lips finally crashed together in a passionate kiss.

Lil Nas X Drops 'Panini' Video + Kevin Hart Dragged (And Defended) Over His Comments To The Rapper About Him Coming Out
Tumblr media
After performing the song in a similar look at the MTV VMAs recently, Lil Nas X just dropped the official video to his newest single "Panini." Go inside his futuristic world and find out why Kevin Hart is being criticized as he recovers from his accident.
Set in a futuristic world of flying cars and hologram billboards, X tapped Disney actress Skai Jackson to star in the vid, showing her in an attempt to escape Lil Nas X as he pops up everywhere she goes, trying to win her over as a fan. Ha. By the way, the treatment idea for the visual came directly from X himself and was brought to life and directed by special effects artist, musician and YouTuber Mike Diva.
Lil Nas X previously revealed that “Panini” is a song about a fan who loves you in the early stages of your career for the cool factor of knowing about something before it becomes mainstream, and that fan feeling like they’ve outgrown you when the rest of the world catches on. Sounds about typical.
And if you're trying to watch it in school, X has got you covered:
if u wanna see panini and u at school act like ur stomach hurting and ask to go to the bathroom
— nope (@LilNasX) September 5, 2019
Peep the blacklight, neon filled video below:
youtube
The video comes out on the heels of Lil Nas X's appearance on Lebron James' HBO show, "The Shop."  In last night's season premiere, things got heated when the rapper, Kevin Hart, Charlamagne tha God, and other guests began a question about homosexuality.
.@lilnasx speaks the truth about his choice to come out while at the top. More of The Shop on @HBO now! pic.twitter.com/wETNaPUU5t
— UNINTERRUPTED (@uninterrupted) September 4, 2019
In the 1 minute clip taken from the full premiere episode, Kevin interrupts Lil Nas X's response, saying "So what?!", when the host asks the rapper about choosing to "come out" while he's at a peak in his career.
Some folks thought it came off as dismissive and silencing, especially when Kevin felt the wrath of the LGBT community and allies himself recently in his career due to comments he made about not wanting his son to be gay. The comedian made it seem like X coming out wasn't a big deal, but, isn't it? Even if it's a big deal in a positive way?
Others believed he wasn't being dismissive, and that he was simply saying it shouldn't be a big deal that someone came out.  They believe he was actually supporting Lil Nas X in his own way. X had a response to that though when he finished his explanation. He said he's actually solidifying the fact that it's not a big deal if he makes this reveal at the top of his career and it doesn't affect his career, instead of waiting to use it as a publicity stunt.
Check out the debate below:
Kevin Hart got me tight the entire interview, but I think he was trying to say that being gay shouldn’t be a big deal to Nas. Even tho for someone like Lil Nas and everything he’s done, being gay is definitely a big deal, and that’s obv what Lil Nas was trying to explain
— Joshua Bautista (@joshb3600) September 5, 2019
This Kevin Hart shit pisses me off, that whole interview pisses me off, I can’t stand when straight people ask why it’s a big deal to come out and then say no one cares if people are gay. Fuck you if you think that. Open your eyes.
— soph (@itsmrstealyour_) September 5, 2019
That Lil Nas X/Kevin Hart clip is a prime reason Black gay men hate going to the barbershop. It’s often a space for (straight) Black men to bash Black women and Black LGBTQ people with very few people challenging that toxic environment.
— Preston Mitchum (@PrestonMitchum) September 4, 2019
If Kevin Hart is still in the hospital, I hope his nurse is gayer than Billy Porter in June.
— Saeed Jones (@theferocity) September 4, 2019
the stupidity of kevin hart telling lil nas x that the world doesn’t care if people are gay anymore. what world are you living in??????
— renee (@chalametsqueen) September 5, 2019
Wow Kevin hart really has the nerve to say “so what” to a famous young black man for coming out, when half his jokes are about slapping his son for “acting gay” LMAO wow
— the qing of queens (@emoilia) September 5, 2019
i can understand where things could be taken out of context but Kevin Hart has literally said he would beat his kid if they were gay-so that’s all i really needed to know about him to form an opinion on him and think that he’s out of line on any queer issues.
— payne (@payneywayney7) September 5, 2019
Others say the people who are criticizing simply didn't watch the full episode:
Twitter: Kevin Hart is homophobic look at how he gaslight lil nas x Reality: #TheShopHBO pic.twitter.com/hqJRPqnMc7
— Zan (@GodZanMarino) September 5, 2019
Kevin Hart could have been quiet as a mouse on that Barbershop episode with @LilNasX and folks would have still been upset on some “his silence speaks volumes...he’s so homophobic” type shit.
This outrage/easily offended culture is lame af.
— joshtooclutch (@JoshTooClutch) September 5, 2019
Y’all asses ain’t even watch the full interview of the Kevin Hart and lil nasx shit y’all annoying “Kevin Hart homophobic” man ain’t no damn homophobic. When he said that joke bout his son being gay niggas thought that was the funniest shit. now it’s not y’all wild
— SKINNY (@senorskinny) September 5, 2019
I definitely think y’all taking Kevin hart saying “so what ; he’s gay who cares” the wrong way lol.....
Calling his accident karma is foul regardless
— Durrell (@DGIBBS89) September 5, 2019
Literally the only time homophobia crosses my mind, is when I'm on Twitter defending straight black men against charges of it.
Black men have too much on our plates to be worried about who other people are fucking - THAT'S what Kevin Hart was saying to Nas X.
— BeeMoe Siddy (@DubAnders) September 5, 2019

Are you really excited for this season? Because I am really torn. The leaks seem to be true, well at least like 80 to 90 percent and most of the stuff just makes me cringe.
Hi anon!
Right now, I AM! The trailers were so amazing how could I not get hyped?
I mean look at this:
Tumblr media
Jon fucking slamming Creepyfinger against a wall in the WF crypts.
Tumblr media
Sansa walking away from Jon (I’m 98% certain it’s him)
Tumblr media
This shot of Jon alone - I’m soooo grateful for the kingly-fur-waistline
Bran is back in Winterfell, Tyrion looks fucking worried all the time, the D is on screen when Davos says “Who’s sceleton sits on the Iron Throne” and when Jon says “the common enemy”. My fucking Queen Sansa Stark reciting some stark-family-unity poetry.
The trailers were 100% pro-stark, Jon/Sansa/LF lovetriangle-ish (did you notice that they were the only ones talking in the second trailer???) goodness and they got me so excited for what season 7 could be. Maybe it’s pointless to say, but GoT has so much potential. Trailers shouldn’t spoil any major events, true, but they do set the tone for the coming season.
But I know what you mean, 99% of what happens in the leaks is complete bullshit and I had already made my peace with a shitty season. But:
Tha leeks seem to be true.  That doesn’t mean they are.
IF the leaks are completely (or only ~80%) true s7 is the absolute narrative lowpoint of the entire series. Okay, nothing could be worse than Dorne, but at least it wasn’t the “main story”. Nothing substantial happens to lead us towards the shows ultimate conclusion. Aryas and Brans story lines are so boring and inconsequential. Bran spends the entire season figuring out who Jons dad is? Seriously, that’s pretty obvious and Bran is a smart boy. Also he’s the most powerful character right now (he is - despite your opinion on the matter) and he doesn’t further the plot at all. The whole dragonpit scenario is so dumb - so very very very dumb. It reads like D*ny stan masturbation porn through and through. (The whole show was positively biased towards her until now, but I belong to the strong believers of the D turning into an antagonist/villain in the end.)
Would HBO really ruin it’s number one franchise in the penultimate season? The leaks are so awful and ridiculous, that I have a hard time believing D&D would actually go threw with that. I already talked so much about all the things that don’t make any sense, just look through my got leaks and got speculation tags.
Maybe D&D just squeezed as much “confirm the leaks”-material as possible in the trailers to fuck with the audience? We all know how they feel about leaks and spoilers. Maybe they are responsible for the leaks themselves?  Maybe the leaks only got a few things right and left major plot points out? Btw, lads, the guy responsible for the leaks, said that Ramsay would nearly beat Jon to death in s6. Sooo, I’m not sure just how accurate his information is.
Also, such a major leak seems rather unlikely for such a huge production. They take so many precautions and safety measures to prevent exactly that from happening. Maybe one characters or episodes plot, but more or less everything? I don’t buy it. Not for a second.
Last, but not least @bisansastarks (btw sry to drag you into another leaks-discussion) infected me with her confidence that the leaks are mostly bullshit or at least missing some very important plot points.
So I decided not to take them to serious and sulk in a corner, but to look foward to a potentially amazing, mind-blowing season. Life’s just easier that way. If I am disappointed I can at least take comfort in the fact that I have better taste than the creators of a multi-million dollar franchise.
Plus look at this:
Tumblr media
We’ll get a stark family reunion with 99% certainty. How could I not be excited?

"tag” posts
Both of these were tagged by the wonderous @whffl, so I decided to morph them into one post. It is a little long though.  5 Things Tag 1 SONG: Man, that is a hard one. Lately I’ve quite liked the song “Take a walk with me” by Normanton Street, so I guess I’ll go with that. 2 MOVIES: Singin’ in the Rain (1952) and Stepmom (1998) 3 SHOWS: Prison Break, Mr. Robot (2015-) and Pride and Prejudice (BBC Mini-Series, 1995) 4 CHARACTERS: Oh. Greg/Gregory and his frog from Over the Garden Wall, Uta from Tokyo Ghoul and, for the sake of my childhood, Tobi (and all his “identities”) from the Naruto series.  5 FOODS: Sushi of different kinds, rice with homemade salsa and cooked veggies, everything that has with avocados to do, a/mutliple banana(s) and taco with my buds. 11 Questions Tag 1. I do enjoy playing all kinds of instruments. really. 7. What are you studying/what do you want to study/do? I’m planning on studying Maths and Physics at uni next year.  8. What language(s) do you speak? Norwegian, English and (some) German. I really want to learn more languages though.  9. What is your favourite movie genre(s)? Psychological 10. Your hobby/hobbies? Art, camping (though camping doesn’t happen a lot) and solving Math problems  11. What TV show/series are you currently watching/last TV show/series you watched? I’m currently watching the second season of Animals. from HBO.  I’m not really tagging anyone particular, but if you want to answer the same questions/do one of the the tags then please do, and if you tag me I can see what you answered. Though @whffl it would be really cool to see your own answers to the 11 questions tag :’)

Guide to visiting the Royal Alcazar of Seville
One of the things to do in Seville that tops most visitors lists is a visit to the Royal Alcazar of Seville, and thanks to its new fame as a prominent filming location for HBO’s realization of George RR Martin’s smash hit Game of Thrones, it is now more popular than ever.
Declared a World Heritage site in 1987, the Alcazar of Sevilla site is a complex of palaces that have been built by various monarchs.  With more than 1000 years of history, the Alcazar contains Spain’s oldest palaces and some of the best examples of Mudejar architecture in Spain.
Mudéjar – of or relating to a style of Spanish architecture from the 13th to 16th centuries, a fusion of Romanesque and Gothic with Arabic.
Dictionary.com
There is no doubt that the interior of the palaces is stunning, especially the Palacio del Rey Don Pedro; however, the courtyards and the gardens are what that many people come to see. The beautiful, multi-layered patios create a maze of pathways that leads you down into the larger, orange tree-lined gardens below. It’s no wonder that a wander through the Alcázar Gardens is the most enduring memories for many visitors to Seville.
Coming up
Getting there Tickets for your visit What kind of tour you need A brief history of the Alcazar of Seville Game of Thrones in the Alcazar Other Alcazar highlights Nights in the Garden of the of Alcazar FAQs
Affiliate disclosure: The links to tours or accommodation in this post are affiliate links. This means if you purchase after following one of these links, I make a small commission at no cost to yourself. Think of it like a win-win.
Getting to the Alcazar
As you’d expect, the Alcazar is located right in the heart of the city, next to the Seville Cathedral and on the edge of the Jewish Quarter, also known as Barrio Santa Cruz.
One of the many great things about Seville is how compact it is, so you should be able to walk there quite easily from most of the hotels in Seville.
If you are a little further out, there is a Metro, Tram and of course taxi’s that operate in the center of the city.
Getting in
It is possible just to turn up and buy your tickets for the Seville Alcazar, but if you do this, expect to be waiting in big queues. So, what I tell you now is crucial.
Book your Seville Alcazar tickets before you go and if possible book for the earliest time slot with queue jump included.
If you do this, it means you can be some of the first of the day to enter and enjoy it while there are fewer people and also it will be cooler than if you visit in the afternoon. If you are in Seville for a couple of days, be sure to check out my recommend 2-day Seville itinerary for suggestions about fitting everything in.
You can purchase tickets on the official Alcazar ticket site, and select the time you would like to enter. The Alcazar tickets can either be printed or scanned directly from your mobile phone.
Once you enter the site, there is a small gift shop on the left where you can pick up a map and hire a pre-recorded audio guide for an additional €2.
Self Guided vs. Audio Tour vs. Guided Tour
When it comes to exploring the palace, I definitely recommend getting a guide. The audio guide is a little dry at times (as these things usually are) but quite simple to follow and certainly better than having nothing at all.
The issue with a self-guided tour is that there is very little information anywhere. You will have a map, but there are very few explanations of what you are looking at and why it’s significant.
Alternatively, you can book a guided tour and not worry about a thing. There are many options for Alcazar tours that can be pre-booked via Get Your Guide. There are also packages available that include an entrance to the Seville Cathedral or tours of the Jewish Quarter, again, a recommended visit.

While I would recommend ruling out the self-guided option, between the other two, I would say it depends on time. If you have plenty, then grab an audio guide and explore. If you are tight on time and want to see, learn, and enjoy as many stories as possible, a guided tour is undoubtedly the way to go.
Most guided tours last for around one and a half hours. If you are using the audio guide, I would allow two to three hours to cover everything, that also gives you time for a refreshment break in the lovely cafe they have overlooking some of the extravagant gardens.
A brief history of Seville’s Real Alcazar
There has been a prominent build on this site for more than 2000 years, but it was after the Moorish conquered the Iberian peninsula the Seville Alcazar really started to take shape. It started as a fortress which evolved over time and by the 11th century was being used as the Muslim king’s residence and state administration offices.
In 1248, Ferdinand III of Castille won back power in Seville, and the Alcazar became the Royal Palace. However, after the conquest of the city, Ferdinand III didn’t live for much longer, and power passed to his son, Alfonso X.
As you’d expect, this marked a significant change in the design of the Alcazar. The new Christian rulers favored more spacious rooms with high ceilings in stark contrast to the small, intimate rooms of the traditional Moorish style. Architects that had previously worked on Gothic masterpieces such as the Burgos Cathedral were brought into design Alfonso X’s new palace within the Alcazar.
After Alfonso’s modernizations, it was the wonderfully named Peter the Cruel who was next to build something special as he created the Palacio del Rey Don Pedro which is one of the highlights of a visit to the Alcazar.
From early in Pedro’s reign, it became clear to friend and foe alike that the monarch had a suspicious and vindictive personality. He employed deceit and cruelty wherever he encountered opposition, real or imagined. His unforgiving nature, combined with a very long memory, made it very hazardous for an opponent to attempt reconciliation with the king.
History Naked
Although technically it war with many of the Arab enclaves that remained on the peninsula, Mr the Cruel had a fascination and love for the Moorish ways and architecture and as such, summoned artists of Arab origin and ordered his palace to be built. The result is a beautiful Mudéjar palace straight from your dreams.
Things settled down for a while with no major works going on, just continual improvements and touches from the various Monarchs that adopted the Alcazar.
It was the Lisbon earthquake of 1755 that introduced the next major change as the façade of the Palacio Gótico was destroyed and rebuilt in the Baroque style to throw another style into the wonder architectural melangerie that is the Real Alcazar of Seville.
Game of Thrones in the Alcazar of Seville
While there are fleeting shots throughout the series, the Royal Alcazar became central to the Game of Thrones plot in Season 5 when Jamie Lannister rocks up to get his Daughter (also technically his niece) back. But the chances are if you are reading this, you already knew that. And if you didn’t know that, you probably aren’t reading this as you’ve gone “Uggh, Game of Thrones, eye-roll and skip. But for those of you that are still with me, let’s continue.
Dorne is the southernmost of the Seven Kingdoms, and The Royal Alcazar is the home of the Martell family, the rulers of the kingdom. While it briefly appears in earlier seasons, it is season 5 that really shows off the beauty of the Alcazar.
youtube
The locations used for filming in season 5
Episode 2
Doran watches his son, Trystane, playing with Myrcella from King Pedro’s palace overlooking Mercury’s Pool and the Grutesco Gallery.
Episode 6
Ellaria plots the downfall of Jamie Lannister with her daughters Maria de Padilla’s baths before the episode later breaks out into a big fight throughout the gardens but focussed around the Pavilion of Carlos V
youtube
Episode 9
A meeting is held between Doran and Jamie in the stunning Ambassadors’ Hall, you can really get a feel of what the Alcazar may have been.
Other Seville Alcazar highlights to look out for
Aside from the Game of Thrones filming spots, which as you’d imagine, are some of the nices corners of the site, there are still plenty of pretty spots to look out for.
Some of my favorites from my visit were the labyrinth, a great place to leave the kids if they have wound you up. Also, don’t miss the small staircases built into the courtyard wall, which enables you to get up high for some lovely pictures. But be warned, it’s a tight squeeze so there is a certain amount of waiting for others to go up or down before you can, or just stick those elbows out and plow on through!
Staying in the city? Check out some of my recommended hotels in Seville
Nights in the Garden of the of Alcazar
If you are a music fan and visiting Seville between June and September, be sure to keep an eye out for Nights in the Garden of the of Alcazar. Enjoy outdoors concerts every night with a program comprised of artists of different musical styles including flamenco jazz, and swing.
The concerts take place in the Alcazar’s stunning gardens between King Carlos V’s Pavilion and the Grotesque Gallery, and would certainly provide a special memory of your visit to Seville.
FAQs
How much is the entrance to the Seville Alcazar?
There are quite a lot of different entrance options starting from €5.50 for the basic entrance. There is an additional fee if you wanted to include access to the High Royal Room and also a dramatized night tour available
It’s worth knowing that admission is free on Mondays. You can still book a queue jump on their website below if you are willing to pay the €1 admin fee. I would say that is certainly worth doing.
Where can I buy tickets?
You can get tickets for entrance and queue jump with no guide on the official Alcazar of Seville ticket page.
When is the Seville Alcazar open?
October to March: From Monday to Sunday, from 09:30 to 17:00.
April to September: From Monday to Sunday, from 09:30 to 19:00.
Closed on the 1st and 6th of January, Good Friday and the 25th of December.
When is the best time to visit?
I would recommend getting the first entry of the day. This means you get a good headstart from the crowds and the sun will not be too hot as you will be avoiding the hottest hours of the day.
How long do I need in Seville Alcazar?
Most guided tours take around one and a half hours. However, if you are using the audio guide on your own, I would recommend giving yourself at least two and a half hours to enjoy the full guide and explore properly.
What is Alcazar in English?
It’s a palace-fortress built by the Arabs during the time of the Moorish invasion. The word is a synonym of castle (castillo), and it comes from the Arabic word al qasr.
Should I visit the Seville Cathedral or the Royal Alcazar?
Well, if you only have time to visit one, personally I would favor the Alcazar over the Cathedral. It is Spain’s oldest palace and home to amazing gardens and architecture. The Cathedral is a lovely cathedral, but there are plenty of very nice cathedrals in the world, only one Alcazar of Seville.
If you have any further questions or suggestions, feel free to leave them in the comments, and I can see if I can help and then add them to the post.

A Persuasive Piece on Why We Can Stop Attacking Lena Dunham Any Time Now
by Dr. Ashley Beth Pincins, RPh
November 26, 2017
“I’ve always loved independent women, outspoken women, eccentric women, funny women, flawed women. When someone says about a woman, 'I'm sorry, that's just wrong,' I tend to think she must be doing something right.”-Diane Keaton
Powerful characters do not exist solely in the ‘right,’ perfectly, at all times. While we are all free to express our opinions, mostly these days via social media allegiance, we are not obligated to always be right. We are, however, obligated to be accountable. By these simple standards of humanity, Lena Dunham has done everything right.
Has Dunham, along with her power partner in crime, Jenni Konner, walked up to the sounding board of media and proclaimed advocacy for feminism and progressive female views? Absolutely. Is Dunham both passionate and controversial? Absolutely. Should any of us be surprised that she is following her passions loyally aligned with the fellow writers who helped her send her INCREDIBLY NECESSARY message? No. Was it unwise to do so? Probs. Should she be ravaged socially for it? I mean. Has she been caught ravaging an unconscious women’s body behind a dumpster?
Disregarding that love scene from her acclaimed, debut short film ‘Tiny Furniture,’ no. She hasn’t. And you can bet your britches that the person who was publically trialed was certainly more protected in the media than Lena Dunham has ever been. Keep your public perpetrations in perspective, people.
Indeed Miss Dunham, while *seeming* to be of super hero quality, is actually not of super hero responsibility. She is and always will be solely responsible for herself, her work and her voice. Tha- tha- tha- that’s all folks.
Dunham has admitted her faux pas on a recent statement. Which is more than we ever got out of Ted Kennedy that time he drove drunk with a young girl and she d—-never mind. Ahem.
She has not proclaimed herself the voice of her generation. Did the character which she created and starred as herself proclaim she was the voice of her generation, two hours post-opium pipe from the floor of her frustrated parents’ hotel room? Yes the character ‘Hannah Horvath’ did have that line, in the Pilot episode of Dunham’s inarguably groundbreaking series ‘Girls’ which aired on HBO from Aprils 2012 to 2017.
Yes. It is worth noting the show was co-Executive Produced with the genius of “Knocked Up, 40 Year Old Freaks and Geeks” emperor Judd Apatow. (Or more importantly, the husband to the great comedienne and mama, Ms. Leslie Mann.)
Is Dunham’s voice heard loudly from above mentioned sounding board up to which she has walked? Yes. However, is Dunham saying hers is the only voice that matters? No. Because she fucking knows hers isn’t.
What’s your opinion on your closest acquainted creep? How do you express this opinion? Is your opinion really improving anything? Do you plan to go full on lynch mob on said creep in your community? Better yet, and of most severe importance, have you given this creep the proverbial, millennial “Fuck you” with your index finger and the Unfollow button? You did? Wow. I mean, that’ll show ‘em.
One might argue in an age ruled by digital numbers, in which we live, that the severe plummeting of Instagram and Twitter followers occurring on her accounts could spell social and marketable suicide to such a public personality.
Nah. In Dunham’s case, she likely feels blessed to know who her “true followers” are.
Listen. The entirety of rape culture is a Vesuvius-like eruption resulting from years of suppressing disrespect and assault on the rights and bodies of women. As such, the lava flow of call outs have been and should remain flowing towards people who sustained serially abusive behavior towards women for years. Unfollowing Lena Dunham will not be felt by Weinstein, Crosby or any of the other monsters in our midsts.
This most recent, mid-November 2017 wave of public shame on her Dunham’s extraordinary character has not shown her lacking. It has shown her to be human. Emotional. Loyal to her creative partners, which any creative will tell you is as intimate, if not more so, than sex.
The last time I checked the overall feedback to Lena Dunham was that her voice wasn’t that important, despite the obvious success she’s seen in leading an army of empowered young women who do no longer feel that they must bow at the altar of people pleasing. Together with Konner, she has helped lift the burden of an exhausting, suicidal task which up until our generation, has traditionally fallen upon the female role. So why all of a sudden is Lena Dunham’s opinion so critically important? Especially to an audience who has spent pages of fat shaming trying to silence her?
Ever since my grandma bought me “Little Women” for my seventh birthday have I painfully understood that every damn move a woman makes is doomed to be speculated upon. The recent backlash to Dunham’s own personal beliefs enforces this pattern.
Could it really be true that she has unfortunately misspoken and as a result been betrayed by a shrewly passive aggressive, former writer for her newsletter who outed her as a monster citing proof that Dunham once associated with a person who sometimes said the ‘n’ word at Oberlin circa 2007? And mind you where was the dissenting voice of said employee of Lenny Letter when she was networking with Lena to get a fucking job writing for Lenny Letter. Had her tongue been grabbed by Trump as well? Oh my. Let’s look past the hungry children in our country, friends, and make *this* the topic Google deems most important.
Once again, the media has succeeded in misplacing our anger.
I mean, sure, you *could* get angry at Lena Dunham. You can give her the ol’ zero and one finger and hit “Unfollow” on her social media accounts. You can publish unflattering photos of her defiant beauty in articles which essentially are nothing more than how well an online author can ‘select-copy-paste’ previously published media. Could one even argue that this overreaction to Dunham’s unassuming role as a leader is yet another example of how women’s voices are criticized and suppressed? It boggles the mind.
Or you could get off your fucking phone once you’re done holding your crush’s latest IG selfie to your face, imagining you’re rubbing noses with him, and look up at your life. Chances are, your feminist “rage” at Dunham would be more productive and SMART goal oriented exercised in the community surrounding you.
Take your frustration out with an “excuse me” the next time a man interrupts you. Text your friend with that abusive boyfriend and ask her how her day’s going. Go shopping for Christmas presents for your local Woman’s Resource Center. But leave Lena Dunham alone. Sarcastically speaking, society has echoed ad nauseum back to us the opinion of a “fat whale” woman means nothing right? Ça va? Ça va bien.
DISCLAIMER: Dr. Ashley E. Pincins is a registered pharmacist who fails to convince cute boys they shouldn’t be intimidated by her expensive six years of chemistry coursework but instead make out with her and eat cheese. She is in no way affiliated with Lena Dunham.

Hi guys! “There’s no time to change your mind – the time has come – you’ve been left behind”. The final chapter of our beloved The Leftovers has come and I couldn’t be more sad about the end of these three amazing years.
Let’s start from the end. The ending scene is indeed crucial to understand the rest of the episode. The last dialogue between Kevin and Nora reminded me a lot of Grace’s monologue in front of Kevin Garvey Senior: they’re both older than before – some people is sure that 13 years passed since they last met in the hotel in Melbourne (Season 3 Episode 4) – and they have just found each other again after all that time. Kevin pretends he had only met Nora once, at the Christmas dance (Season 1 Episode 4), and that they never were together, and of course never fallen apart.  He stops pretending after a while, when he realizes that his plan of erasing all the pain they had experienced together wasn’t working at all, and he finally confesses: he had been looking for her for years, he had spent every two weeks holiday in Australia for the last 13 years without never giving up, showing a picture of Nora to every single person he had met. And now that he has finally found her, he’s not willing to give her up again. He apologizes for shouting at her the last time they talked, and for telling her she should be departed with her kids.
And that’s when Nora starts to tell her incredible story of how she travelled to another dimension, where the 98% of the world population departed, a world populated by the 140 million people who had departed from “their dimension”. She tells him she had found herself in the Australia of the other dimension, travelled by boat to New York – because in that world they don’t have enough pilots to make planes fly – and finally found her house in Mapleton. There, she waited for hours outside of her old house, waiting for someone to come outside and then someone did: her husband, with a new girlfriend, and her kids, older than she remembered, and happy. She then decided to go back to her world because in that dimension she was nothing but a ghost, and her children already had each other and didn’t need her anymore, so she looked for the inventor of the device that helped her cross through one dimension to the other and asked him to build another machine, so she could go back to the world where she belonged.
This was absolutely sad and heartbreaking and I felt so sorry for Nora. But I also felt that something didn’t feel right. I thought about it for a while, and then I started seeing everything differently: what if Nora didn’t necessarily tell the truth? At the beginning of the episode she said “I don’t lie”, but in fact she did.
I don’t think that Nora actually went through the machine. Let’s think about it for a moment… What happened when they invented the machine “in their dimension”? A LOT of people went through, 190 people used the device to be with their departed family members. So, if what she says were real, all the people of “our world” that went through the machine would now be in that other dimension, happily reunited with their family, and they would have started talking about this miraculous machine that can send you wherever your family went on October 14th. In a world where as much as the 98% of the world population is gone, people would have gone CRAZY. We saw what happened in the real world – where “only” the 2% of the world population had departed: people started to lose their minds, they started to join cults, to stone people to death, to worship a magic chicken, to bomb an island on the south pacific to kill a seven headed monster capable of ending the world, they bought mannequins looking like their departed loved ones, they put cities on fire, they started shooting dogs and worshipping a lion in a cage.
And there are more reasons why I think Nora didn’t go through the device:
1 – If another dimension populated by just 14 millions of people really existed, I’m pretty sure people would have reacted just like they did in the real world, or worst. And if there really was a chance to travel to the other world and join the other 98%, so many of them would have done it right away.
2 – Unlike Nora, people on the other dimension would have been sure that the machine really worked – because 190 people had already used it to reach them – and of course they would have come back en masse to their former world . But no. Nobody of the departed ever came back, not a single person. We would have known it if they did.  If that had really happened, the news would spread fast. But there’s no record of a departed coming back from the other side. Nora is the only person alive claiming she visited this parallel world, but there is absolutely no proof that it actually exists.
3 – It’s highly unlikely that Doctor Van Eeghen built such a device in a world where they weren’t even able to make planes fly. And he would have built another device just for Nora, with nobody else willing to use it…  And given that what she’s saying is true, how did she find Doctor Van Eeghen?
4 – Also, she was clearly yelling “STOP!” at the beginning of the episode, before the liquid inside could reach her face…
She didn’t go through. She just ran away, just like she was going to do the first time, right before finding Lily… I think she never believed that the device would have worked. When she decided to go through it, she just wanted to die, having a 1% chance of reuniting with her kids. But then she got scared and decided to stop. What she told is just the story she wants to believe in: the story of two kids who lost their mom but still have their dad and a happy life. She wants to believe in a world that is struggling to go on, but makes it anyway. She wants to believe that her children are alive and happy, and that they were able to start their life over, and succeed where she failed.
These are some other things that strengthen my conviction that Nora is lying:
1 – This interview to Damon Lindelof on the official website:
HBO: Why did you have her explain — rather than show — her journey to the other side?
Damon Lindelof: Because the show has always been about the stories we tell to make ourselves feel better.
2 – Nora being called a liar by Doctor Becker and Doctor Eden at the beginning of the episode
3 – Nora being called a liar again by the nun
4 – The nun saying “It’s just a nicer story” might also be a reference to Nora’s journey in the world of the departed.
After changing her mind and refusing to go through the machine, Nora gave up on life, changed her name and ran away. It almost feels like there was still a little sparkle of hope inside of her: she stayed in Australia, right where she had last seen Kevin, a very big country indeed, and full of people, where it’s really difficult to find someone but still not impossibile.
I think this is it, Kevin and Nora have found each other again and this time they’re not gonna let their relationship fail. Kevin proved to love her in every possibile way, and now she knows she has something to live for.
Honestly, seeing them together now that they’re old is a little unsettling. I wasn’t sure whether I was enjoying this final episode or not in the beginning. This wasn’t what I was expecting to see, I was hoping to see Jill and Tom again and I thought Laurie was dead, so this episode all focused on Nora and Kevin has really caught me by surprise. But it’s fine. I’m happy about them being together and I’m happy about how things turned out. Kevin and Nora deserve to be happy and together. It took them a long time to realize how important they were to each other, but this show taught us that it’s never too late to start loving again, to start feeling again and to move on. These amazing characters have lived in a world with no certainties,  a world that let everybody down in the most terrible way – by making loved people disappear, by making love a dangerous path to take, by making the creation of a new family an hazard – and now they’ve made it through and they’re all ready to move on. Some of them already did, others are just starting to put their lives together for the first time after ages. The real apocalypse was inside this people hearts, and – just like the world didn’t end – their lives didn’t either.
It breaks my heart to say goodbye to this show. It’s been a wonderful  three years journey, and I wish it would have lasted forever. Just like the characters of The Leftovers we’re now ready to face our lives after this little big Departure. But let’s pretend there is no end.
Same time next week?
  INTERESTING FACTS:
– The opening scene with Nora and Matt is one of the saddest and sweetest moments of the show: Matt is broken, he has lost his faith and he’s scared of dying. He’s ready to come back to Mary and Noah but he doesn’t know how to face his illness and how to guide people through this difficult times because he feels like he has no answers anymore. In this scene he’s trying to make Nora’s last moments funny, like he did when they were little. He’s not trying to stop her anymore, he just wants her to get what she wants. Matt’s story breaks my heart, because it really looks like everything he always believed him brought him to be alone, to lose his wife, his son, his sister and eventually his faith. He has nothing to live for anymore and he’s sick. At the end of the episode we will find out that Matt is dead and that he had a beautiful funeral, with over 400 people attending. It also looks like he got back together with Mary.
– Why are Doctor Bekker and Doctor Eden promoting their device? Maybe they are genuinely  convinced that it works. Or maybe they’re not sure, and they only allow people who has no more reason to live.
– Nora is wearing white right before entering the event chamber.
– AAAnd for the last time, we hear about Cairo.
– Nora into the event chamber looks exactly like the French naked man on the submarine (Season 3 Episode 5)
– Nora put hers money in a jar, just like K.G. Senior did when he left 20.000 dollars for Matt.
– Laurie and Nora on the phone look like two teenage friends, gossiping about a boy. ❤
– In this episode Nora and Kevin are dancing to a Otis Redding song. In Season 1 Episode 4, they met at the Christmas Ball, with another Otis Redding song in the background.
– Kevin tells Nora he has a heart condition and that he has a scar right under his heart due to the insertion of a pace-maker – just like Kevin Harvey had a scar in the same spot, due to the removal of the “key” that allowed to destroy the world on the other side.
– Nora frees the goat from the bead necklaces which represent all the sins in the world, she puts them around her own neck, taking her place. This scene reminded me of Season 2 Episode 5, when Matt frees the man in the stocks and takes his place, claiming it was his turn.
– Nora changes the paper towel roll, just like she did right after Wayne hugged her pain away. Changing the paper towel roll was the last thing she did before her kids disappeared, and she left it there for three years after the Departure. This time, she puts the pearls on it. This might be a metaphor: Nora is finally accepting all her sins and she’s ready to move on.
– Nora’s house in Australia looks exactly like the houses of Season 3 opening scene, with the Millerite woman.
  – Laurie is still alive and she’s holding Jill’s daughter in her arms. ❤ This is a big surprise, we were all so sure that she committed suicide in Certified and no one was expecting to see her again. We also found out that she’s still living with John and that Michael is running the church. Maybe Jill and Tom’s phone call really changed her mind and save her. She was also able to keep her promise to Nora – same time, next week –
– In the very last scene of the show Nora’s birds come back with the love messages. She says they are trained to come back home – so is Kevin?

Film Treatment
Summary:
1. Main question of what genre of film would you prefer to watch related to British cinema? All came back with the majority of answers going for Drama and Action. So I will base my film around these specific genres.
2. My second question of what specific topic would you like to see in a film? And almost all of the questionnaires I received back were aiming towards the category of sport within the British industry.
3. Another question asked was what scouse phrase you prefer for a film relating to British cinema industry. I gave them the options of G’wed lad, Boss tha, and Alright kid. 7 out of 10 people who gave me the questionnaires back chose G’wed lad as they felt it suited best.
4. The 4th question asked was have you seen any other British cinema films that you enjoyed? A few responses came back saying that they have watched but didn’t enjoy them as they preferred the Hollywood films, But the few responses that enjoyed the British films came back to say that they have watched films such as Kidulthood and Adulthood, and then Kingsman Secret Service.
5. The next opinions I received were based around the question of do you prefer British cinema to Hollywood new wave? Just to see if the British industry is more popular with my audience than Hollywood Films. Because if they don’t prefer them and I did a British industry film then I won’t receive as many viewers as I would want. But the majority of people who took the questionnaire voted British Cinema in 6/10 of answers.
6. The 6th question asked what do you not like to see in a film? Most of the answers came back to say things such as violence, gore and horror. So I have tried to make sure I use only a limited amount of violence but the other answers I won’t be using as that is not what the audience want to see in a British cinema film.
7. I also just asked some simple questions just to get an idea of what specific audiences want to see within a film. Do you watch specific films in certain industries based on the stars? Only 4/10 of the answers came back to say they do watch it based on stars. So my film won’t need to include certain actor or actresses if I wanted it to.
8. Another simple question added in the questionnaire was what do you think of the film one night in Istanbul if you have seen it? Just because the film is related a lot to my own idea. Only 2 of the 10 said they have watched it but they gave a good review and said that they enjoyed the film as it contained both drama and comedy.
9. I carried on with the subject of that specific film and asked if they took inspiration from the film as it was seen as quite an inspiring film. As I could take that idea also and make my film quite inspiring to people to achieve there goals just like my character in the film. Both people that said they have watched it also said it was inspiring for them as the film was based around a football team reaching their goal.
10. My last question asked do you like inspiring films to stay on the same subject from previous questions. And 6/10 people said they do but the people who aid no said that they don’t like that type with emotion within films but the majority said that they did.
My idea for my short film was chosen around the British Cinema industry when I carried out some primary audience research to gain inspiration off viewers of what genre and story will my film relate too. I handed out 10 questionnaires with 10 different questions to both a mixture of male and female viewers to ask opinions of what my film needs to be about and what needed to be included in the film. My main question that I will focus on analysing is what genre of film would you prefer to watch related to British cinema? I gave the options of Drama, Comedy, Romance or Action. Most of the questionnaires came back with the answers Drama and Action. So then I decided to use all the genres into one and develop a film that was based around both.
A film that I could take inspiration off when planning the film is the 2016 film ‘Grimsby’. This film relates to genres such as Adventure, Action and a little Drama. So this film would fit to take inspiration off as the genres relate to my plan in developing my own film. So my main idea for my own film would be the same as ‘Grimsby’ and do it around the same type of film. As most of my audience who answered the questionnaire picked the film to be around the genre of Action and Drama I need surround my idea with football with the genres to create my title and synopsis. I came up with the idea for the title of my film to be around the scouse accent as it related to me as I support Liverpool. So I will use a scouse phrase as my title being ‘G’wed Lad’. This is a common scouse phrase so when the audience see the title of the film they will relate it to the accent and know what the film might be about. Also I could link this to my primary research of questionnaires as the majority of people said in one question that that specific scouse phrase was best to fit my film but also they wanted comedy, so then I could also take inspiration off the film ‘One night in Istanbul’ as that is a new scouse comedy film about going to the 2005 champions league final for Liverpool. This film was considered quite dramatic so I can make my film like this one to produce the drama aspect of the film.
My overall film idea will be based around a young scouse boy who wants to become a footballer but is in a financial situation therefore needs to build himself up and get money to live his dream. His parents are alcohol and drug users but that doesn’t stop him from meeting his friends whenever he can and play the sport he loves. He gets spotted by a former scout who wants to take him on a get him to his dream of being a professional footballer. But when he meets the parents who don’t want to see their son be successful in anyway so the former scout needs to persuade them to get there son to be where he thinks he should be. This synopsis links to my questionnaire also as one of my questions regarding the films development asked what specific topic would you like the film to be about? And due to the audience of my questionnaires mostly being in the age group of 18-25 year olds, most of them suggested the film to be related to sport, which is why I have chosen my film to be about football.
There are a couple of ways to distribute my film in order to gain or build my audience. One is Television broadcast and the other in a theatre realise. Television Broadcasting is a common way to distribute a film as most of the television channels or programmes have a high audience and therefore will see my film broadcasted when they watch TV. For instance if I wanted my film to go through on the BBC, HBO or PBS then it would gain a lot more viewers than putting it on such as the internet where there are only a specific type of target audience and I may not get as many viewers as I’m hoping. Also Theatre release is a very common distribution plan, usually, this option is reserved for top notch films that are fortunate enough to get a distribution deal. But for those willing to hustle and take their film city to city and theatre to theatre, it's possible although extremely time consuming and expensive to rent the theatres. So I could use either of these but my main option of choice would be Television Broadcasting as it would be a lot easier and cheaper for me to distribute my film than theatre release.
Once I’ve decided how and where my film will be shown, it's then time to start thinking about how I’m going to build my audience to watch my film. But by the time I would be marketing my film I would have already built most of my audience through personal network such as blogs, websites or any other social media sites. But the best way for me to market my film is news coverage as it’s free and easy to access but also gives me a much higher credibility. But if I was really confident with my film I could submit it to film critics who would give me that extra advice to get my film where I want it to be.
