running around in sr2 lately, as well as working on my zombie AU of all things, has just reminded me of one of my personal favorite dynamics to think about, and it’s troy and aisha. which like. probably sounds like a very specific duo, but it’s interactions that i think make sense in the context of what their respective characters are doing post-sr1/pre-sr2. 

troy’s purpose after the events of the first game is based around continuing to protect the saints despite his new status. and, even after the attempt on his life by johnny, he makes a very clear point to protect the guy. he keeps johnny safe in prison, and by extension i believe he actively looks out for aisha as well. in a better world we’d have more focus on aisha as a character in general, but one of the most crucial aspects of her character post-sr1 imo is her loneliness. she’s just trying to live despite being legally dead, and johnny and her sister are really all she had left. however, johnny gets thrown in jail after what we can assume was a split-second decision upon seeing troy in public again, and aisha’s sister has her own life. her sister is assumedly college-age by sr2, and she may not even live in stilwater anymore. she can only be around so much, and johnny’s stuck in prison. aisha’s left all alone, counting the minutes until someone visits again or johnny gets out. but that’s where i think troy would come in. 

in the initial visits (happening soon after johnny’s put in jail), aisha tells troy to leave. she doesn’t want to see him. troy respects that, and gives her space. it happens gradually, with him showing up when she least expects it. i imagine she still gets her fair share of people telling her she “looks just like aisha,” or other overly-excited fans hounding her with questions and accusations—but just as suddenly troy’s there telling them to lay off, to stop harassing this woman. she thanks him, but it still feels….off. she’s uncertain. but one day when he's just checking in, she invites him inside, and they just chat. almost like old friends, but there’s still an obvious wall between them. but he’s the first real human contact she’s had in a long time, and he reassures her that johnny is safe, and he’ll do everything he can to keep it that way. she laments that the life of a dead woman is a lot harder than she’d assumed. it’s the quiet that gets her the most. troy understands. he gets her special visiting times, longer minutes between the glass. troy is decidedly apologetic when he says it’s the least he can do. 

in some ways, aisha is the only saint he has left to protect. dex is gone, anteros isn’t waking up any time soon, lin’s been dead, and now johnny’s in jail. so he visits her when he can, he’ll run errands for or with her, he’ll do whatever it takes to protect and atone for what he’s done. and she wouldn’t forgive him entirely—and he wouldn’t blame her—but over time it’s nice to hear that familiar knock at the door. 

#it's canon he was questioned about her death in sr2. in the newspaper. i think about it So Much. #he cares so much. #anyway aisha and troy literally two of my absolute favorite characters of the series if it isn't obvious #and i think they'd have really interesting interactions post-sr1/pre-sr2.

the way hamlet acts in act 5 scene 1 juuuust clicked to me. like my impression was "smh my head he is so toxic, he did NOT love ophelia as much as laertes did, what is wrong with him" but actually i think the thing that sets him off isn't just laertes' display of grief, it's also how everyone takes it seriously. everyone treats ophelia's funeral like a funeral and is sympathetic to laertes and understanding of his desire to jump in a grave with her etc but these same people around hamlet expected him to celebrate his uncle's coronation and move on from his father's death at the same time. in that moment hamlet sees laertes as similar to the actor narrating priam's death in act 2 scene 2 and it makes him SO mad (and he regrets it later in act 5 scene 2 which is after he realizes laertes' emotions are as real as his own. probably why he calls him "brother" as well)

DpxDc AU: Justice League requires all of its youngest members to list at least one adult emergency contact in case something happens out in the field- And Lancer did tell Danny to put his number down if he needed help!

Lancer wanted to call CPS, wanted to call them for years, but something was wrong with his beloved town and the government agents that came were always… ill mannered. To say the least. So with the young Mr.Fenton appearing wounded in his class on multiple occasions, sleeping through lectures even more often, Lancer felt himself gradually accept that no other adult was going to step up to protect this child.

He figures out his Identity as Phantom and it makes his rage boil hotter than Dante’s sixth layer of hell. Danny refuses to abandon his parents (who continue to hunt him unknowingly), and he refuses to let any of his ghostly responsibilities fall wayside (this CW fellow is a real piece of work!).

But for all the things he expected when he told Danny that he could be trusted and could help- Ms. Manson and Mr.Foley coming to him for help, patching wounds, offering snacks and covering for Danny when attacks occurred in class- he hadn’t expected the Justice League to be knocking on his door.

Lancer blinked at the appearance of Batman in his classroom after the final bell, but then his stomach dropped.

TELLTALE HEART THATS THE BATMAN!!

“Phantom listed you as his emergency contact. Have you had any recent communication with him?” The deep, gravel voice startled Lancer.

Lancer checks his phone, Danny had skipped class today; and while Lancer was working with Danny to get him after school lessons and tutoring for all of the hours he missed, it was uncommon for him not to respond at Lancer’s text asking for a confirmation of his safety.

“Not in 24 hours, but I can message him again.” Lancer is shaking as he types on his phone to team phantom-Who wouldn’t be nervous at both the implications of Danny’s safety and the Batman??

Superman flies into the room from the open doorway, “No luck, without a heartbeat I can’t find him. Where ever they have him it’s lead lined or he’s keeping himself invisible.”

SCARLET LETTER ITS SUPERMAN!?!

Danny doesn’t reply to Lancer, and neither do Danny’s friends.

“He has two team members with whom he is inseparable, if none of them are responding then all three have been accosted. I’m coming with you until we find them.” Lancer declares and while he’s sure that Batman is unimpressed, Superman gives him a sad smile and nods.

Thus Lancer joins the Justice League for a day, Helps to save Team Phantom and Informs the takedown of an illegal government agency.

Batman also slides him some adoption papers and a card for a lawyer if Lancer decides to formally adopt Danny. Lancer also wins a Wayne Excellence Award for Teaching that year but he’s pretty sure the money is unrelated to Danny’s alter ego- after all, Lancer is a fantastic teacher.
