Reading the pjo books to my sister rn and I can't get over how begrudgingly respectful Percy is in the early books. Even in his little shit 6th grader era he addressed Mr. D as "sir", he called Hades "uncle", he addressed Poseidon as "father" and Zeus as "Lord". By the second book he switches from "father" to "dad" but still calls Mr. D sir and even calls Tantalus sir. By book three most of these niceties are dropped, at least until he meets Hestia in The Last Olympian
