When I reach my goal weight (fantasy #2)…
“What are you going to order baby?” Aaron asks, his husky voice the only thing I can hear in the crowded restaurant.
I stare at the menu, feeling a familiar wave of uncertainty wash over me. What would a skinny girl get to eat? Who am I kidding…skinny girls don’t eat.
But he wanted to take me on a dinner date, and I loved the process of getting all dolled up. But… if I eat then my tummy will bulge out and I will look like a whale in this bodycon dress.
I wish I didn’t have to eat anything at all.
“I don’t know…” I chew on my lip, looking down at the menu.
Aaron notices my uncertainty and takes my hand into his palm. He squeezes gently.
“Why don’t you get the salad? It’s only veggies. Look, just 200 calories and with a low fat dressing”
His words wash over me like a soothing balm, relieving the pressure that has been building within me. "Yeah, that sounds perfect," I reply, a small smile tugging at the corners of my lips as I look up at him, gratitude shining in my eyes. He knows how long it has taken me to reach this weight. And he knows how situations like this can be triggering for me.
————————
The food arrives. The waiter places a large plate of steak and fries in front of Aaron. His muscular frame fills the chair, veins bulging out of the back of his hands. He looks so good in the white shirt he chose to wear tonight. This kind of meal is perfect for a guy like him who is trying to build muscle.
Then the waiter places my plate down. The salad is bright and colourful, rich greens topped with vibrant tomatoes, red onion and black olives. Thick green leaves spill over the edge of the plate.
Aaron smiles and leans in for a kiss. As his lips brush the edge of my jaw, he whispers, “You don’t need to finish all of that Princess, just enough to stop the ache. You don’t want to overdo it, do you?”
I shake my head, eyes locked onto his.
“Skinny girls never finish their food. Self control is so sexy, don’t you think?”
I nod slowly, entranced in his gaze. He’s so right. Just a few bites. That’s all I need.
I chew on a piece of grated carrot, watching Aaron devour the steak in front of him. He’s eating for his body type and I am nibbling for mine.
————————
After a few bites of salad, I excuse myself to the restroom to make sure there are no bits of green in between my teeth.
When I return to the table, a giant slice of chocolate cake sits in the middle with two spoons. Instantly a wave of nausea overwhelms me. I slowly sit down, feeling my stomach turn.
On the one hand, every fibre of my body is screaming for a bite. I am a recovering sugar addict. Although I have done well to avoid it the past couple of months, this level of temptation is almost too much to bear.
Luckily, I have Aaron to support me.
“The waiter brought us two spoons, can you believe it? As if you will be having any. You hate anything sugary, don’t you? I love how you only ever eat healthily. There’s nothing more disgusting than watching a fat girl eating cake”
I freeze, feeling my cheeks burn.
“Good thing you’re nice and skinny, baby. You’re so perfect. I love how light you are. When we get home I’m going to scoop you up in my big arms and finish this date on a high”
Aaron then proceeds to eat every last bite of the chocolate cake, grinning with pleasure.
My tummy rumbles but I don’t even hear it. He said I was skinny.
Me!
Skinny!
As we leave the restaurant and head into the car, one thought dominates my mind.
The supermodels were right. Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels.

Notes: And so it has come, my friends, time to say goodbye to these lovebirds. I loved writing this story and writing Them. But when you feel that the story worth telling is told, it’s time to let go, and tell new stories.They’ve been with me for over 6 months, and I never could've imagined how bittersweet parting with them would be. Thank you to everyone who commented, gave a kudos, subscribed and most importantly, read this fic. Seeing that you liked it and followed it absolutely meant the world to me - and I’m not exaggerating even a bit. I hope you enjoy this one last, short chapter I felt was still worth telling.
::::::::::
It was the morning after the wedding. Steve woke up, yawned, and repeated his usual morning ritual of stretching his arm on Billy’s side of the bed to find him. When his hand brushed the familiar warm skin, he smiled and turned on his side. He examined Billy’s calm face that was full of freckles, the result of spending time in the sun over the last few days. They made him look younger than his years. Steve let out a contented sigh, and gently brushed Billy’s back up and down with his fingertips. “Good morning, Mr. Harrington,” he whispered.
Billy’s brows furrowed, and a crease appeared between his eyebrows. It soon vanished as a smile crept on his face. He let out a tiny tired noise with a deep breath. “Mornin’.” “Want to have some breakfast?” “I could eat,” Billy groaned. “Any requests?” Steve asked, smiling, knowing what the answer would be. Billy’s smile widened and he opened his eyes. “You already know.” “Baguette with chocolate?” Billy laughed a little. “And dark roasted coffee.” He looked at Steve for a while. “But it was supposed to be just for Paris.”
“Well, I brought Paris here, just for you.” “You did?” Steve nodded. “There’s a bakery in New York that bakes French pastry exclusively. The main baker came here to bake the bread for you.” Billy turned to bury his face into his pillow. “But of course he did.” “And he baked the cakes to the party as well.” Billy turned his head to peek at Steve with one eye. “He did?” “Well, I paid him for the whole weekend, so I thought he could do something else as well than just your delicacies.” “To be honest, the cakes were better than the ones we tasted when we chose this place.”
“I knew you would approve,” Steve said and moved close to Billy, laying his head on Billy’s pillow and leaning his forehead against Billy’s. He petted Billy’s hair and and brushed his cheek with his hand. “You’re a Harrington now, gorgeous,” he whispered. Billy smiled a wide smile, the one that trapped his tongue between his teeth. “I know,” he whispered back. “How does it feel?” Billy thought for a moment. “Free.” Steve frowned. “What do you mean? You’re off the market.” “Finally free of that… piece of shit. The last thing I shared with him is finally gone. My last name. So, free.” Steve wrapped his arms around Billy, pulled them together and kissed him. “I’m so happy you’re mine,” he whispered. “I’m happy you’re mine,” Billy replied.
They looked at each other for a while in silence. “What was the first thing you saw of me in the dream?” Steve asked. “I saw a corner of a red quilt. That was the very first thing,” Billy laughed. “One with those Scottish striped square things, laid out on a field of grass. Then, slowly, a few nights later, the camera zoomed out, and I saw your hair. Dark brown, wild, a lot of it, spread on the quilt.” “I saw the skyline of New York.” Steve smiled. “We were having a picnic in Central park. Well, I found out only later that we were there. The first thing I saw of you was a strand of hair, moving with the warm breeze. And your lashes, and your eye. And you whispered that you loved me.” “I remember that. Whispering ‘I love you’.”
A tear forced its way out from Steve’s eye, and it fell over his cheek on the pillow. “It’s still incredible that I found you.” Billy smiled and placed his hand on Steve’s cheek. “Well, technically I sought you out first.” “You have no idea how much I love you,” Steve whispered. “I think I have an idea,” Billy said, and leaned in to kiss Steve. “I have a wedding gift for you.” “You do?” “Of course I do. I just don’t know if it’ll match what you gave me.” “Gorgeous,” Steve said, brushing Billy’s hair behind his ear. “Anything you want to give me is always beyond what I can give you.” “You order the breakfast, baby, I’ll take a shower. Then you’ll get it.” “Not so fast, Mr. Harrington. I think I’m going to join you in the shower.” Billy smiled a wide smile. “Please do, Mr. Harrington.”
Once the breakfast was brought to the bridal suite after they had taken the shower, Steve sat by the table to pour himself coffee. He looked at the big box on the table. Billy walked to the room in a bathrobe, similar to the one Steve was wearing. “Go on, open it.” While Billy started to set his own breakfast on his plate, Steve opened the present. When he was halfway opening it, he realized what it was, and he leaned back on his seat, letting out a breath. Then he cleared his throat, and licked his lips. “Oh, gorgeous. This definitely is beyond what I could ever give you.” Billy smiled a wide smile. “I thought you might like it.” “’Like it’ is not the expression I’d use. More like...adore it.” “Well, go on, open it in full.” Steve did, and his mouth opened ajar. “There’s more than just one?” Billy nodded, amused. “Mm-hmm.”
Steve stood up. The box had three framed photos in it and he took them out one by one, placing them on the empty side of the table to see all of them at once. In each of the frames was a photo of Billy posing like a pin-up girl. Steve stared at the photos for a long while, utterly speechless. "Do you like them?" Billy asked. Steve turned to look at him, tears brimming his eyes. "Hey, baby, don't cry," Billy said gently and got up to hug Steve. Steve buried his face into Billy's hair and hugged Billy back, tightly. "I love them," he whispered, sniffling, "I love you." "Baby, I love you too. I wanted you to have something nice that only I could give to you."
Steve pulled back a bit to be able to kiss Billy. "I never imagined that I'd find someone who is so perfect. Smart, creative, loving, caring, beautiful, sexy. But here you are." He caressed Billy's cheek with his thumb, and Billy leaned to the touch. "Everything we've gone through in such a short time...and that you wanted to marry me..." He took Billy's left hand in his and looked at the rings on his finger for a while before pressing the fingers against his own cheek. "I still can't believe we're married." "We are. And I couldn’t be more excited to start our life together.”
A wicked smile spread on Steve’s face. “I want to hang those pictures above the bed.” Billy chuckled. “So you can see me under and top of you at the same time?” “Something like that, yeah,” Steve said, and kissed Billy.

George Weasley — 5th December
Tumblr media
Summary:  You read him a poem as he laid on your chest, loving the sound of your voice.
Words: 1,870 words
Warnings: Major Fluff, I Blushed So Hard so You Shall Too, George Weasley Supremacy 2.0, Makes You Wish You Can Shift Sooner So You Could Have This Moment With Him, So Floofy It Hurts Physically
Disclaimer: S i g h. I am just so in love with this man. The way I blushed so hard through this entire thing is obvious enough I will never love someone as much as I love this 6′3 ginger dork. Ooh, also the poem is mine, I wrote it thinking of George fdhfhjks I’m actually so so nervous to show you guys my poem so I really hope you enjoy it!
Tumblr media
“Hey, flower,” George greeted you as soon as he walked in your dorm, seeing you leaning against your headboard, scribbling onto your notebook. He hadn’t seen you at all today, and your friends had told him you had called in sick, so right after dinner, he snuck some leftover food and went straight to your dorm.
“Hello, mysterious handsome man,” You teased and laughed at him narrowing his eyes playfully at you. “How’s your fever, love?” He asked as he walked closer, giving you a sweet forehead kiss. You closed your eyes at the feeling of his lips on your skin, sighing in content, “Much better since Madam Pomfrey gave me some potions to drink. They were ghastly, to be honest.”
George chuckled at your fake vomiting, slightly relieved that you were still his same, silly flower.
He sat at the edge of the bed, right beside you as he held a tray of leftover food he had picked out, there were cauldron cakes, chocolate frogs, gummy worms, and a bowl of mushroom soup, which when you saw the thick creamy food you gasped, “They had mushroom soup today?!”
The next couple of hours were spent with you and him eating together in bed, you listening to his day today, Fred and Lee had tried to convince him to put some explosive powder into your mushroom soup earlier—you gasped in mock offense—luckily he said no, not wanting to be accidentally murdered in his bed at midnight—you nodded in agreement, he laughed—and the two friends wished you well.
You instantly snatched the bowl and groaned at the taste of the soup on your tongue. George chuckled, “Yeah, reckon you would like a bowl of ‘em in bed.”
“You’re kidding? I would love to have it in bed, blimey you’re the best boyfriend ever, thank you, Georgie.” You gushed as you gave him a big wet kiss on his cheek, which he laughed loudly at.
And you told him about yours, about how ghastly this morning was that you had woken up in cold sweats and practically had to crawl out of your bed to call your friend for help—he was frowning so hard—and Madam Pomfrey had visited you twice during the day, giving you some potions and brought you some food to regain your energy—George planned to surprise Madam Pomfrey with sweets the next day as a thank you—and you spent the rest of your day writing.
“What were you writing? Another poem?” George asked, he had known you had a passion for writing ever since you were little. It doesn’t matter what kind of writing it was, you do everything. From poetry to short stories to even some of Hogwart’s news articles, you love everything there is about writing. Even songwriting, George had to close his mouth manually when he found out you could actually compose songs and sing, he thought he’s had enough reasons to love you as it is when turns out there are more and he’s more pleased to discover all of them over time with you.
“You’re right, actually. I missed you a lot today, so I wrote it for you,” You said with a small smile, eyes tearing away from George shyly.
George had sworn his heart stopped beating for like 5 seconds.
“For me? Really?” He whispered in awe, his smile widening at your blushing cheeks. George was absolutely sure his face was the same hue as his hair at the moment, but his heart was leaping in too much joy to actually care. Seeing you before him trying to hide your heavy blush and trying so hard to contain a big grin with your teeth on your bottom lip had his whole knees weak. You looked mad adorable and all George wished to do at the moment was shrink you into pocket-sized and keep you in his pocket forever.
“I-I mean, no one has written me poems before…” He trailed off, his hand brushing the nape of his neck, feeling extremely giddy and extremely happy. He was usually the one who made you this way, blushing and stuttering, but when it’s your turn, he almost died out of heart attack each time.
“Well, you’re going to be surprised when I tell you that every love poem I’ve written, I thought of you.” You said, rolling your eyes playfully at his widened eyes, flushed cheeks, with a giddy grin on his lips.
There it is; the heart attack.
“Well I would love to hear you read it for me—excuse me, madam, coming through,” He said, shuffling on the bed closer to you, laying between your legs, his back on your chest and his head on your shoulder perfectly; as if your body was molded solely to hold him this way, and George wouldn’t agree more. You laughed as he finally leaned onto you, sighing in content as he did. You pulled the blanket so it could drape the both of you perfectly, and you leaned your cheek to his forehead.
“Alright, but warning, it’s very very mushy,” You warned, and he smiled a bit wider, “All the more reasons to read it then.”
You reached the leather brown notebook at your other side, flipping the page easily to where you want it due to the lilac feather quill resting between the tea-colored pages, acting as a bookmark.
Your arm beside George rested on his head, massaging his scalp gently as he liked it. George hummed in content as he leaned onto your neck, feeling very comfortable. The warmth from your body behind him and the heavy blanket draped across you both felt so comfortable that he didn’t want to move, ever.
“This is the first poem, I call it 5th December,” You said, and George opened his eyes, “Why 5th December? Isn’t that like, 10 days ago?” You chuckled, “Yeah, I first wrote it then, but I finished it today.” George hummed in understanding, “Go on then.”
“I’m not very good at reciting poems, so excuse me if it doesn’t sound right.” You said and George dramatically sighed, “You’re stalling, love. And even if you say it most horribly, I’ll still love it because you wrote it.”
“Aww, Georgie,” You cooed, kissing his forehead causing him to crack a smile. “Okay, okay, here it goes.” You said and George had his eyes on the notebook you’re holding, scribbles of black lines and paragraphs filled every page.
“Awh, darling.” George cooed and kissed your cheek, causing you to stifle a giggle before going back into reciting mode.
“If you ask what my birthday wish was,
I simply could not tell you because
I don’t wanna say it’s wanting you with me laying down the grass
Together at night with the company of the stars.”
As you read the words, George found himself getting flutters in his stomach. He was so focused now, wanting to hear more of your voice and this poem combined, because to him, there is no such beauty that could compare. All that matters to him as of that moment, was you.
“If you ask what my falling star wish was
I shall simply shake my head just because
It’s hard to describe wanting you by my side each and every night
Taking your hand in mine and waking up with you next in line.”
You looked at him, and George was already looking at you with full adoration. He looked so mesmerized and amazed, you smiled at this; how adorable. You closed the notebook, you had already memorized every line as you had read it over and over for the past day, getting butterflies in your heart as you thought of George every time. With your eyes on him, your soft voice recited the poem again.
“If you ask what my new year’s wishlist was
I would simply put my lips together because
I couldn’t tell you it’s wanting to travel the world with you
And just try together everything new and spend time with you.”
George was in a trance. The beautiful words you crafted together were meant just for him. The poem you shared with him was because of you thinking about him. At that moment, George had thought of something he never would’ve thought during his past relationships.
“If you ask what my clover wish was
I would just laugh and tell you no because
I wish to touch every inch of you every second with all my will
For your lips against mine, I shall need no happy pill.”
He wanted to spend his entire life with you, and no one else but you. He wanted to live with you, to be with you during thick and thin. Because… Because he loves you.
As you finished it, you gave him a gentle smile. There was a silent moment from the both of you, the only sound was the raindrops outside the window, the rhythmic splatter of water was therapeutic, to say the least.
“And if you ask, why won’t you tell me anything of you wished for
Let’s talk about it over a nice cup of tea just brewed
I shall say with the love in my eyes a secret till forevermore
That if I simply say it to you, then none of them would come true.”
You took your time to look at George’s face. Sometimes you had marveled at the fact that you could get this ridiculously beautiful man to be yours, to like you for who you are, to accept each and every quirk you have without any feeling of annoyance or disgust by them.
This ridiculously beautiful man, with lush and soft ginger hair, light colored long eyelashes, the stunning color of brown for eyes, and peach-hued freckles decorating his face like footsteps of an elegant ballerina on stage.
“I am so lucky,” Was all George could breathe out as he leaned upwards, engulfing you into a passionate kiss. George loved every single moment when he kisses you, your lips are nicotine at its best, and he would drop everything to be an addict, an slave for you; for thousands of eternities if he could.
His hands had found the back of your neck, pulling it closer to his direction, deepening the kiss. You closed your eyes to relish the moment, your hands already found their place at each side of his jawline, hungrily pulling him closer to you.
When you pulled away, your lips were ghosting each other, his hard breaths hit your swollen lips softly. “What exactly are you lucky for, Weasley?” You breathed out, still panting softly, the smile on your lips grew as it mirrored the lovestruck smile on his lips.
He kissed your nose, and the rosy cheeks returned, “For you, for the poem, for you reading the poem, for you writing the poem while thinking of me,” You giggled and he joined with a chuckle, a soft smile on his face, “For everything. I love you, my flower.”
“I love you too,” you bit your lips, trying your hardest to contain a smile, “If this is what I get after reading you a poem then do you wanna hear the second one?” George laughed loudly; happy and content just being there with you.

Daughter of the Sea - Chapter 1
Series Masterlist
Main Masterlist
Tumblr media
(Y/n) stands in the kitchen of her mother and step-father's apartment, making the bean dip Smelly Gabe liked so much.
(Y/n) fixes her gaze on the counter but then she lets out a yelp as something hits her in between her shoulder blades.
"Hurry it up, girl!" Smelly Gabe snarls.
"Yes sir," (Y/n) murmurs.
A few minutes later, Gabe stalks into the kitchen, takes the dip without so much of a thank you.
(Y/n) fixes her gaze on the shoe on the ground before she moves to her room. She climbs into her bed, getting under her covers. (Y/n) turns, facing the wall.
She closes her eyes, falling to an uneasy sleep.
(Y/n) watches, disconnected from the others in the dream, as one of her brother's teachers turns into something that reminded her of a demon, or something similar that she'd read books about. The woman had bat wings, claws, and a mouth of yellow fangs.
Then (Y/n) looks around, her eyes widening in shock as she sees her brother holding a bronze sword.
Percy swings the sword, the demon exploding into yellow powder, vaporizing on the spot.
A hand on (Y/n)'s shoulder has (Y/n) jolting awake. "Honey? Are you okay?" Sally Jackson asks.
Catching the wide-eyed look of horror on (Y/n)'s face, Sally wraps her daughter in a hug.
(Y/n)'s breathing steadies, and she breathes in her mother's familiar scent - chocolate, licorice, and all the other things she sold at the candy shop in Grand Central Station.
"Did you get all your work done?" Sally asks softly, her thumb brushing over a slightly visible bruise that had appeared at the base of the back of her neck.
(Y/n) hums in reply.
. . .
The next day, (Y/n) is once again lying in her bed, not wanting to have to deal with Gabe throwing more shoes or glass bottles at / near her.
. . .
Percy walks into the apartment, dragging his suitcase behind him, hoping his mom would be home from work. Instead, Smelly Gabe is in the living room, playing poker with his buddies. The television blares ESPN; chips and beer cans are strewn all over the carpet.
Hardly looking up, he says around his cigar, "So, you're home."
"Where's my mom? (Y/n)?"
"Mom's working," Gabe says. "The girl's in her room. You got any cash?"
"That's it. No Welcome back. Good to see you. How has your life been the last six months?
Gabe had put on weight since the last time Percy had seen him. Gabe looked like a tuskless walrus in thrift-store clothes. He has about three hairs on his head, all combed over his bald scalp.
"I don't have any cash," Percy replies.
Gabe raises a greasy eyebrow. Gabe could sniff out money like a bloodhound, which is surprising, since his own smell should've covered up everything else.
"You took a taxi from the bus station," he says. "Probably paid with a twenty. Got six, seven bucks in change. Somebody expects to live under this roof, he ought to carry his own weight. Am I right, Eddie?"
Eddie, the super of the apartment building, looks at Percy with a twinge of sympathy. "Come on, Gabe," he says. The guy just got here."
"Am I right?" Gabe repeats.
Eddie scowls into his bowl of pretzels. The two other guys pass gas in harmony.
"Fine," Percy says. He digs a wad of dollars out of his pocket and throws the money on the table. "I hope you lose."
"Your report card came, brain boy!" He shouts back at Percy. "I wouldn't act so snooty!"
Percy slams the door to his room, which isn't really his room. During school months, it is Gabe's 'study.' He doesn't study anything in there except old car magazines, but he loves shoving his stuff in Percy's closet, leaving his muddy boots on the windowsill, and doing his best to make the place smell like his nasty cologne, cigars, and stale beer.
Percy drops his suitcase on the bed. Home sweet home he thinks.
Gabe's smell is almost worse than the nightmares about Mrs. Dodds, or the sound of that old fruit lady's shears snipping the yarn.
Percy sits, lost in his thoughts.
Then he hears his mom's voice, "Percy?" She opens the bedroom door, and his fears melt. "Oh, Percy," she hugs him tight. "I can't believe it. You've grown since Christmas."
Sally had brought Percy a bag of 'free samples' the way she always did whenever he'd come home.
The two sit together on the bed. While Percy attacks the blueberry sour strings, she runs her hands through his hair, demanding to know everything that he hadn't put in his letters. She doesn't mention his getting expelled. She doesn't seem to care about that.
Percy tells his mother that she is smothering him, but secretly, Percy is really, really glad to see her.
From the other room, Gabe yells, "Hey, Sally - how about some bean dip, huh?"
Percy grits his teeth. My mom is the nicest lady in the world. She should be married to a millionaire, not to some jerk like Gabe.
(Y/n) pads into Percy's room, and the dark haired boy brightens at the sight of his younger twin.
"I've got the dip, Mom," (Y/n) says softly. Sally gazes at her daughter for a moment, her gaze sad.
"Wait, (Y/n)," Sally says, and (Y/n) turns back to face her mother. "I've got a surprise for the two of you," she says. "We're going to the beach."
Percy's eyes widen. "Montauk?"
"Three nights - same cabin," Sally replies.
"When?" (Y/n) asks, looking excited.
She smiles, "As soon as I get changed."
(Y/n) can't believe it. Mom, Percy, and I hadn't been to Montauk in the last two summers because Gabe had said that there wasn't enough money.
Gabe appears in the doorway behind (Y/n) and growls, "Bean dip, Sally? Didn't you hear me?"
Percy wants to punch him, but he meets his mother's eyes, and understands that she is offering him a deal: Be nice to Gabe for a little while; just until she's ready to leave for Montauk.
"I've got it, Gabe," (Y/n) says.
"Sorry, honey," Sally says, looking at her husband. "We were just talking about the trip."
Gabe's eyes get small. "The trip? You mean you were serious about that?"
"I knew it," Percy mutters. "He won't let us go."
"Of course he will," Sally says evenly. "Your stepfather is just worried about money."
(Y/n) turns to face Gabe, smiling as kindly as she could. "What if I make a seven-layer dip that'll last the whole weekend?" she asks. "Guacamole. Sour cream. The works."
Gabe softens a bit, then turns back to face Sally. "So, this money for your trip . . . it comes out of your clothes budget, right?"
"Yes, honey," Sally replies.
"And you won't take my car anywhere but there and back."
"We'll be very careful."
Gabe scratches his double chin. "Maybe if the girl hurries up with the seven-layer dip . . . and if the boy apologizes for interrupting my poker game."
Maybe if I kick you in your soft spot, Percy thinks. And make you sing soprano for a week.
"I'm sorry," Percy mutters. "I'm really sorry I interrupted your incredibly important power game. Please go back to it right now."
Gabe's eyes narrow. His tiny brain is probably trying to detect the sarcasm in my statement, Percy thinks.
"Yeah, whatever," Gabe decides; he goes back to his game.
"Thank you, Percy," Sally says. "Once we get to Montauk, we'll talk more about...whatever you've forgotten to tell me, okay?"
For a moment, (Y/n) can see anxiety in her mother's eyes, but then her smile returns, and (Y/n) figures that she must've been mistaken.
. . .
An hour later, the three are ready to leave.
Gabe takes a break from his poker game long enough to watch (Y/n) and Percy lug the bags to his car. He keeps griping and groaning about losing her and (Y/n)'s cooking - and more important, his '78 Camaro - for the whole weekend.
"Not a scratch on this car, brain boy," Gabe warns Percy as he loads the last bag into the car. "Not one little scratch."
Like I'd be the one driving. I'm fourteen, Percy thinks.
Watching Gabe lumbers back towards the apartment building, Percy gets so mad that he does something he can't explain. As Gabe reaches the door, Percy makes the hand gesture he'd seen Grover made on the bus, a soft of warding-off-evil gesture, a clawed hand over his heart, then a shoving movement towards Gabe. The screen door slams so hard it whacks him the the butt and sends him flying up the staircase as if he'd been shot from a cannon.
. . .
(Y/n)'s POV
Our rental cabin is on the south shore, way out at the tip of Long Island. It is a little pastel box with faded curtains, half sunken into the dunes. There's always sand in the sheets, spiders in the cabinets, and most of the time the sea is too cold to swim in.
I loved the place.
Mom, Percy, and I had been going ever since Percy and I'd been a baby. Mom had been coming even longer. She'd never exactly said, but I know why the beach was special to her.
It's the place where she'd met my Dad.
As we get closer to Montauk, Mom seems to grow younger, years of worry and work disappearing from her face. Her eyes turn the color of the sea.
We get there around sunset, open all the cabin's windows, and go through the usual cleaning routine.
Mom, Percy, and I walk on the beach, feed blue corn-chips to the seagulls, and munch on blue jelly beans, blue saltwater taffy, and all the other free samples Mom had brought home from work.
I guess maybe I should explain all the blue food.
Gabe had once told Mom that there was no such thing. They had had this fight, which had seemed like a really small think at the time, but ever since, Mom went out of her way to eat blue. She baked blue birthday cakes, mixed blueberry smoothies, bought blue-corn tortilla chips, and brought home blue candy from the shop. This - along with keeping her maiden name, Jackson, rather than calling herself Mrs. Ugliano - is proof that she isn't totally suckered by Gabe. She did have a rebellious streak, just like Percy.
When it gets dark, we make a fire. We roast hot dogs and marshmallows. Mom tells Percy and me stories about when she was a kid, back before her parents had died in the plane crash. She tells us about the books she wanted to write someday, when she had enough money to quit the candy shop.
Eventually, it seems that Percy gets the nerve to ask about what is always on our minds whenever we come to Montauk - our father. Mom's eyes go all misty. I figure she would tell us the same things she always did, but neither Percy or I ever got tired of hearing them.
"He was kind, Percy," Mom replies. "Tall, handsome, and powerful. But gentle too, like you, (Y/n)." Mom says and I soften. "You have his black hair, Percy, and you both share his green eyes.
Mom fishes a blue jelly bean out of her candy bag. "I wish he could see you two. He would be so proud."
I wonder how she could say that when I'm the girl who cowers from her stepfather. The girl who hides in her room to get away from said stepfather.
"How old were we?" Percy asks, pulling me from my thoughts. "I mean . . . when he left?"
Mom watches the flames. "He was only with me for one summer, Percy. Right here at this beach. This cabin."
"But . . . he knew us as babies."
"No, honey," Mom replies. "He knew I was expecting twins, but he never met you. He had to leave before you were born."
I try to square that with the fact that I seem to remember . . . something about my father. A warm glow, maybe a smile.
Percy and I had always assumed that our father had known us as babies. Mom had never said it outright, but still, I'd felt that it must be true. Now, to be told that he'd never even seen us . . .
I feel angry at my father. Maybe it is stupid, but I resent him for going on that ocean voyage, for not having the guts to marry Mom.
"Are you going to send me away again?" Percy asks. "To another boarding school?"
Mom pulls a marshmallow from the fire.
"I don't know, honey," her voice is heavy. "I think . . . I think we'll have to do something."
"Because you don't want me around?" Percy says and I flinch, avoiding both his and Mom's gazes.
I glance up to see that Mom's eyes had welled up with tears. "Oh, Percy, no. I - I have to, honey. For your own good. I have to send you away."
"But you never send her away," Percy says and I look up, eyes wide with surprise.
Mom looks at Percy, eyes wide with shock.
Finally she says, "I have to keep both of you away from each other as much as possible. I thought you'd finally be safe."
"I tried to keep you as close to me as I could," Mom says. "They told me it was a mistake. But there's only one other option, Percy, (Y/n) - the place your father wanted to send you two. And I just . . . I just can't stand to do it."
"Our father wanted us to go to a special school?" I ask.
"Not a school," Mom replies. "A summer camp."
My head spins. Why would my dad - who hadn't even stayed around to see me and Percy be born - talk to Mom about a summer camp?
"I'm sorry, (Y/n)," Mom says, seeing the look in my eyes. "But I can't talk about it. I - I couldn't send you two to that place. It might mean saying goodbye to you for good."
"For good?" Percy asks. "But if it's only a summer camp . . ."
Mom turns towards the fire, and I know from her expression, that if we asked any more questions, she would start to cry.

12/18/20: Day Five
On the fifth day of Ficmas, Hazel gave to yA, SOLNTSE. IN. RUSSI-A.
“Lupin! We’re going to Dante’s for drinks, what do you think?”
Remus looked back at Marlene and Dorcas, over the auditorium seats. Dorcas held up two thumbs.
“Last hurrah before Christmas vacay?” she said.
Remus slung his bag over his shoulder and laughed. “Yeah, Dante’s sounds good.”
“You can bring your hot Russian, if you want,” Dorcas pressed a kiss to Marlene’s cheek. “It can be a double date.”
Remus looked at his phone. “He’s in a meeting until later, but let’s go. We have dinner plans, though, I’ll tell him to come pick me up there when he gets off the subway.”
They left the lecture hall with the rest of the class, filing quickly out the door at the promise of no work for a good month and the weather forecasting first snow tonight.
It was a short, ten minute walk along West 4th Street. Remus could practically smell the coming snow, and he smiled, thinking about walking with Sirius in it tonight after dinner. He thought of Sirius leaving their apartment that morning in his thick green coat, and wanted to see him in the snow.
“Our very own aperitivo,” Marlene sighed, looking at the small spread of meats and cheeses in front of them and taking a loving sip of her drink. “Oh, yes, it’s Christmas.”
Remus popped an olive in his mouth. “It feels like it, doesn’t it?”
“It’ll feel more like it when you’re in Russia,” Dorcas said. “Covered in snow, and furs, and caviar and six-foot-something of dark-haired beauty—”
“Yes, okay,” Remus laughed, trying to shush her and agree at the same time. “That’s probably true.”
“Don’t know about the caviar,” said a voice from behind Remus. “But want to see Remus in furs.”
Remus turned just in time to see Sirius’ teasing smile, cheeks flushed from the cold.
“Only furs?” Sirius said. “Just for me?”
Remus rolled his eyes but tilted his chin up so Sirius could kiss him gently.
Marlene laughed. “Hi, Sirius, how are you?”
“I’m good,” Sirius’ grin was bright and he straightened, keeping an arm around Remus. “Long day of meetings but, all over now, yes? Here for celebration dinner.”
“Well, we got him all warmed up for you. Took us fifteen minutes to get him to stop talking about the final.”
“He get to say it all over again for me, then,” Sirius said. “Will make him very happy.”
Remus rose, drawing his bag over his shoulder. “Okay, okay,” he laughed. “We’re going now. Thanks for drinks, Marls, that was really kind of you.”
“Merry Christmas!” Marlene sing-songed. “And happy From-Russia-With-Love trip!”
Remus laughed. “See you guys in the new year.”
“Hi,” Sirius whispered to him as they turned, pushing out the doors and back into the frost.
Remus took Sirius’ hand and brought his gloved knuckles to his lips. “Hi. Как дела?”
Sirius nodded. “Da, today was good. Starving, though.”
“Me, too. Do you know when you’re wanting something, and so waiting just takes ages?”
“Everyday, coming home to you.”
Remus wrapped his hand around Sirius’ arm and leaned up for a quick kiss. “Yes, that.”
“Now I’m take to dinner,” Sirius said. “Then it’s just us. No more waiting.” He glanced up. “Not even for snow.”
Remus saw the first flakes fall onto Sirius’ hat before he felt them himself, nipping at his cheeks.
“No more waiting.”
They sat in a cozy booth, sharing plates and a piece of chocolate cake.
“Sweet,” Sirius said, thumb brushing a smudge of frosting from Remus’ lip. “Remushya always likes sweet.”
Remus just smiled over his glass of wine. “I’m really excited, you know. I’m glad we’re going.”
Sirius nodded, sucking air between his teeth. “Yeah. Hope it…goes good, you know. I really don’t know.”
Remus smoothed a hand over his chest. “I’ll be there if it doesn’t. I’ve been there myself.”
“Yes,” Sirius said, curling his fingers around Remus’. “But not think about yet. First, we have two weeks in dacha. Just us.”
Remus leaned into Sirius’ side, cheek against the soft material of his suit. “Love you.”
“Я люблю тебя,” Sirius said back, lips against Remus’ temple. “Now. Tell me all about final.”
~
The elevator dinged open, and the New York snow looked even more amazing from their large windows. Plush, and falling slowly.
“At least it’s coming now and no during our flight,” Remus said as Sirius helped him out of his coat.
“Have to get up early,” Sirius sighed and wrapped his arms around Remus’ waist. “Then I’m take you to dacha bed and we sleep in.”
“Sleep?” Remus turned his head. “Is that what we’ll be doing?”
Sirius’ laugh was soft against his neck. “Sleep, sex. Wake up, have tea and I’m make you blini with jam and cream. Then I’m put you in nothing but furs on Christmas morning, Merry Christmas to me.”
Remus turned in his arms. “You could put me in nothing right now.” He wound his fingers through Sirius’ hair. “We really should be tired for such a long flight…make it go faster.”
Sirius bit his lip. “Right. That’s true.”
Remus pulled Sirius down and kissed him gently. “Yeah?”
Sirius grinned, walking backwards slowly. “Come now.”
~
Remus was exhausted and exhilarated all at once. He was surrounded by unfamiliar signs in an unfamiliar language. But then there was Sirius. He spoke fast, smoothly, got their bags and ordered to-go cups of tea for both of them, sweetened and milky. Sirius was rumpled and adorable in his white beanie and black puff coat. He had a thick scarf around his nose and his tea held in one hand, suitcase in the other.
“Car waiting,” he said in a sleep-scratched voice. “More sleep.”
Remus pulled his own hat lower over his ears. He could feel the cold from beneath the automatic airport doors. He wished it was light out, but the sun was long set.
“Eleven PM, right?” Remus asked, looking at the time settings on his phone.
“Yes,” Sirius said, taking a long sip of his tea. “We take train now. Take one day. Have our own cabin, I set it all up.” Sirius sent him a smile. “It’s one of my favorite things. Sleeper train to country, get away from cities for a bit.”
Remus tugged his suitcase and smiled. “Wish I could kiss you right now.”
“Me too, baby,” Sirius said. “Soon.”
The train station was dim and mostly empty, but they were escorted to one of the rear train cars by a woman in a pristine uniform like they themselves owned the train. She opened the door for them, showing them the different compartments of their car—a kitchenette, a bathroom, two bedrooms, and a sitting area, all complete with crystal light fixtures and broad, clear windows. She left them with a slight bow and the wooden door clicking closed, silencing most of the train’s noise.
He and Sirius grinned at each other for a moment as they set their bags down. The cabin was soft and inviting, the snow outside glinting as it rushed by.
“Look,” Remus said, pointing to blanket on the couch. “Furs.”
Sirius laughed out loud, tossing their coats to the sides and all but tackling Remus onto the couch. Their kisses quickly went from playful to slow, Sirius’ weight rocking against him with the slight movement of the train.
“Miss you,” Sirius whispered, licking into his mouth. “Even for hour car ride.”
Remus pressed his hands under Sirius’ shirt. “Take this off.”
They shed their winter-cool clothes in favor of warm skin on skin.
“Hm,” Sirius said into Remus’ kiss. “Suitcase. I’m get. Pick a bedroom.”
Remus smiled, stretching out on the couch, cock warm and pleasantly turned on against his hip, before swinging himself up and picking the left bedroom. The bed was tightly made with a white quilt. He glanced back at the main room, smiling at their trail of clothes and Sirius’ bare back bent over the suitcase.
Remus untucked the sheets, fluffing the quilt up near the end of the bed before falling against the pillows with a sigh.
“Are you coming?” Remus called, letting his thighs spread.
“I’m come!” Sirius’ voice said, and he appears in the doorway a moment later. He leaned against it, naked and smiling, eyes raking over Remus. “I’m really come, wow.”
Remus laughed as Sirius stroked himself once, twice, and then walked forward to kneel at the end of the bed. Remus watched him look out the window, beautiful and silver in the night and the moon that silhouetted the trees.
“Looks cold out there,” he said. “Warm in here, though.”
Remus held out his arms and Sirius leaned over him, bracketing him in.
“Come here,” Remus laughed, pushing Sirius’ hips down against his with his heels. “We’re in Russia.”
Sirius let out a soft sound as their cocks brushed together. “You’re my home now, Remushya. Russia is special place but…it’s you.”
Remus pressed closer to him, closing his eyes at the feeling of Sirius’ skin on his. They kissed with no hurry, Sirius’ fingers heavy, and then light, and then heavy again, making him pant and push back against his touch. The train seemed to cradle them both, even as Sirius cradled Remus. Sirius’ first press inside Remus was swayed by the rocking of the train, making Remus’ eyes squeeze shut as he clutched to Sirius’ back.
“Remushya,” Sirius’ voice came out strained and breathless, mouth pressed to Remus’ neck. “Yes, yes, baby…”
Remus ran his hands down Sirius’ sides to his ass, feeling the muscles that indented at his hips every time he fucked forward.
“Can we,” Remus curled a hand around the back of Sirius’ neck and scraped his teeth against his jaw. “Harder?”
Remus felt cooped up and stiff from the plane. He wanted—he needed it all out somehow, the nerves about meeting Sirius’ family, the stress and elation of the last semester, his overwhelming love for Sirius that never seemed to yield. He needed it to be explosive, he needed it pressed into his skin.
“I’m do,” Sirius said with a smile. “But have to stay quiet. Can you? Don’t know if you can.”
Remus laughed, biting his lip against the next groan that threatened as Sirius stroked just right inside of him. He nodded. “Please.”
Sirius got his knees under him, his arms under Remus’ back to hold him close. It gave him enough leverage that, the next time he snapped his hips forward, the effect felt doubled. Remus’ head fell back, mouth open.
“Shh,” Sirius said with a soft kiss, and then snapped his hips forward again. He didn’t pick up the pace, but ground in hard each time their hips met.
“Ah,” Remus smothered the sound against Sirius’ neck, breathing harshly. Sirius barely gave him time to catch his breath before he did it again. The soft sheets slipped beneath Remus’ back, but Sirius didn’t let him go.
“So good, Remus,” Sirius panted. “Is good?”
“Yeah, yeah, yeah,” Remus chanted breathlessly. His lips dragged along Sirius’ neck, kissing and relishing. “You’re so—ah—“
“Shh,” Sirius’ laugh ended in a soft moan of his own, and Remus pressed a hand over his own mouth, laughing, too.
“No, no, like to see,” Sirius sat back on his heels, chest broad and tanned in the warm light of the cabin. Remus watched his brows knit as he looked down at where his cock dipped in and out of Remus’ body. “Fuck, so much to see.” He smiled at Remus, bending to kiss his chest before sitting back again and pressing into him slowly. “We get home, I’m make you say everything. No one but us.”
Remus watched as Sirius took hold of his hips and fucked forward again, and again, faster than before. Remus whined softly, his cock red and drooling against his stomach now. Heat spread over his chest, from where Sirius was warm inside of him, heavy and aching.
“Sirius,” Remus said, and Sirius fell forward again, Remus’ heels urging him closer. He tangled his fingers into Sirius’ dark hair, kissing him. Remus’ breath caught, his head falling back as his orgasm built, as Sirius’ cock brushed his prostate over again. He felt swollen against his stomach, balls drawn up. “I’m—”
Sirius jerked, a sound ripping out of his mouth as Remus clenched around him, coming between them without a hand.
“Baby,” Sirius groaned. “Baby…” he fucked Remus through it, more slowly now, dragging and careful as Remus’ cock spat out thick ropes of come. A moment later, Remus felt Sirius’ own heat, heard it in the way Sirius’ breathing stopped and the started again, in the way he pressed hard into Remus to ride it out.
Remus still remembered how this part used to feel. The obligation. The preparing his tired body to get up, get dressed, and walk home.
But the memory was faint now. Now, he was being kissed all over his chest and neck, his eyes closed as he laughed tiredly, hand rubbing the back of Sirius’ neck.
“Better every time,” Sirius’ low voice said, kissing along his jaw. “How you do that?”
“Me? You.”
Remus opened his eyes to see Sirius looking down at him. His hair was a mess from the traveling and the sex, he had tired circles under his eyes and chapped lips, and Remus had never seen anything better, anything brighter.
They couldn’t share the tiny cabin shower, but they managed the bed, squeezed in tight and warm.
Remus fell asleep with Sirius’ front pressed all along his back, and the world just beginning to lighten outside, above the moving landscape of Russia.
When Remus woke again a few hours later, it was to Sirius’ voice in the sitting area, speaking soft Russian. Remus waited until he heard the cabin door close, and then slipped his feet into the slippers that were waiting at the foot of the bed, and pulled one of Sirius’ sweatshirts on before opening the bedroom door.
Sirius was removing lids from dishes on a breakfast tray, set out on the table by one of the large windows. The world was a blissful white forest outside, the sun a watery dot in the sky.
“Wow,” Remus said, looking out. “We’re in Narnia.”
“Narnia?” Sirius laughed. “Oh, right. Cupboard movie. Yes, we meet spy goat soon.”
Remus laughed as he sat, tilting his chin up towards Sirius. “Доброе утро.”
Sirius set the tea he had been pouring down and took Remus’ face between his hands.
“Good morning, Remushya,” he whispered, and kissed him softly.
They pulled into a tiny station a few hours later, and, as Sirius drove a rental car through winding snowy streets, they only met a few small towns. The house they pulled up to, however, if not large, was tall and ornate. It was all white, blending in with the snow, and had carved shutters and trimming.
“It’s like a gingerbread house,” Remus said as they got out, pulling his coat closer against the cold. “Baby, it’s beautiful.”
Sirius beamed and wrapped an arm around Remus, pressing a kiss to his temple.
“Just us,” he said when they reached the door, and leaned down for a kiss while turning the key in the lock.
The entrance hall was a blast of warm air and Remus opened his mouth to voice his relief when—
“Sivushka?”
The voice made both of them jump.
There was a boy with dark hair and familiar eyes standing there. Regulus, Remus recognized from photos. Sirius’ brother.
“Regulus?” Sirius said, and in Russian, “What are you doing here?”
Regulus had only opened his mouth to respond when there was another voice from down the hall, and Remus was able to translate those words.
“Reg?” it said. “Who is it?”
A blond boy appeared, wearing a sweatshirt and sweatpants. He had the palest blue eyes Remus had ever seen.
“My brother,” Regulus said, still in Russian. “And—someone.”
“What are you doing here?” Sirius asked again. He didn’t sound demanding, but almost—whiny. Remus watched a smile pull at Regulus’ mouth.
After that, all Remus caught was family and home. He guessed Regulus was saying that he had just as much right to be there as Sirius did.
“Sirius?” Remus said hesitantly.
“English?” Regulus said incredulously, looking at him.
“This is Remus,” Sirius said, and then hissed a curse back. He looked at Remus again. “So sorry, I…Remus, not know they be here.”
“It’s okay,” Remus shook his head. “It’s completely fine. Do they…”
“No, can’t really understand us. Well, Regulus can’t but…don’t know blond man.” Sirius turned, asking. “Dima.”
“His…” Remus prompted.
Sirius’ expression went surprised, and he looked again. The brothers stared each other down. Remus sent Dima an awkward wave. Dima waved back.
Sirius said something in Russian and Regulus raised an eyebrow, shaking his head.
Sirius looked back at Remus. “Friends. Fishing and hunting.”
Remus nodded. “Oh.”
“I really surprise, I…” Sirius huffed out a laugh, but his face went firm again when he looked back at Regulus.
Remus looked around Sirius at the two of them and, in Russian, said, “It’s nice to meet you, I’m Remus.”
Regulus and Dima looked at each other, then laughed.
“What are you speaking?”
Remus smiled a little, face flushing. “I know I don’t speak well.”
“Do you have to be so rude?” Sirius sighed, and took their bags. “Did you take the good rooms?”
Regulus shrugged. “Of course, it is just the two of us. Why wouldn’t we?”
Sirius rolled his eyes and turned to Remus. “Be right back. Is okay?”
Remus nodded. “Yeah, go ahead.”
Sirius nodded and started trudging up the stairs with the suitcases.
“You may be big in America, but you’re just my brother, here!” Regulus called after him, then looked at Remus, standing alone and shrugging out of his coat.
“English?” Regulus said, in English this time. Remus nodded.
Regulus shook his head, pointing to himself. “Sorry. Dima—”
“I have better,” Dima said. “You are friend?”
“Oh,” Remus stuttered. “Um—”
“Boyfriend,” Regulus said in Russian, and Remus stared at him, trying to gage his reaction.
Regulus waved him off. “He thinks I don’t know.”
“But…you do?” Remus said.
“Yes.”
“You tell him?” Remus asked.
“He will tell me, now,” Regulus turned and walked down the hall.
“Please,” Dima said, and gestured for Remus to follow him.
Regulus looked uncannily like Sirius although, where Sirius was rounded out with muscle and his shoulders broad, Regulus was leaner, his features sharper.
“We…have lunch?” Dima said. “Yes? For you and Sirius?”
“Yes, please,” Remus smiled at him, then, in Russian, “I help?”
Sirius came back down to Remus chopping a tomato while Regulus fried something that he had called Kotlety in a pan. It looked like meatballs, only breaded and more fragrant.
Sirius eyed it, and Remus recognized the word uncle from Regulus. Regulus nodded.
“He say it is uncle’s recipe,” Dima supplied, and Sirius looked at him.
“Do you speak English?” he said.
Dima shrugged. “Some. I try but…not many times I need.”
Sirius nodded. “I understand. It is hard language.”
Regulus forked the steaming Kotlety onto four plates and Dima topped each with sour cream and onions. Regulus took the tomato Remus had been chopping and placed it on thick slices of brown bread, along with some ham.
“How long are you here, Sivushka?” Regulus asked when they were all sitting at the cozy kitchen table. Snow was falling in fat flakes outside, and Remus took a moment to look out at the land. It looked vast, with a frozen lake in the distance.
I’m here for Christmas and New Year’s,” Sirius replied around his food. “You know that.”
Reuglus said something and Sirius leaned in to translate. “I told my parents I come in two weeks. Wanted to be here with you before.”
Regulus’ next words had Sirius pale, and Remus guessed they had something to do with their relationship because, after a moment, Sirius took Remus’ hand tightly in his own.
“Da,” he said simply.
The table went silent. Remus watched Sirius look at his brother. His gaze was steely, the way it got while he was working, or on the phone, sometimes. But Remus knew how much hope and fear lay just beneath.
“Okay,” Regulus said, and went back to his food.
Remus raised a shoulder when Sirius looked at him, expression surprised. “He said he already knew…”
“How?” Sirius said in English, and then again in Russian.
Regulus just scooped his left over sour cream with the last of his bread and leaned back in his chair.
“Are you going to—” was all Remus understood from what he said next.
“I can’t,” Sirius sighed. “Even if I want to. It’s your house, too.”
Remus gathered Regulus was asking if Sirius was going to make them leave.
Regulus just shrugged, and when Sirius rolled his eyes again, Remus fought back a laugh. Sirius with his brother was different.
“Okay,” Sirius said in English—maybe just to annoy Regulus. “We’re jet lagged, we’re going to nap. Remushya, come, I show you house.”
Regulus’ eyebrows raised at the nickname.
“Thank you about lunch,” Remus stuttered out, and followed Sirius out of the room.
The bedroom Sirius led them to was warm, too, and Remus was full and feeling the full effect of the time difference. He groaned and fell down onto the bed on his back.
“Well, that was surprising,” he laughed.
Sirius fell down beside him. “Very.”
“Hey,” Remus turned onto his side, hand on Sirius’ chest. “At least he took it well. He seemed okay.”
“Regulus is not my mother,” Sirius sighed. “Or my father. I love them, I do…and I miss them, but…have see so many new things since leaving home. I’m worry—worry they don’t understand. They’re harsh people. I’m just—not really know.”
Sirius sighed again and pulled Remus onto his chest. “We sleep now. So tired. Maybe they are gone when we wake up, just bad dream.”
Remus laughed. “Maybe.”
~
Remus woke up groggily to Sirius closing the bedroom door as gently as he could. He winced when he turned to meet Remus’ tired eyes.
“Sorry, baby,” then, he rolled his. “Not just bad dream. Still here.”
Remus snorted, rubbing his eyes. “What time is it?”
“Almost dinner time. Slept for maybe four hours. Should get up now.”
Remus sat up slowly. He felt like he had sunk half way through the bed to the floor. Sirius laughed softly at the sight, coming to sit on the edge of the bed and stroke a palm over Remus’ sleep-heated cheek.
“I’m bring you orange juice, okay? It help with sleepy.”
Remus hummed, fingers closing around Sirius’ wrist. “Just a little longer. Come here.”
“We get so off schedule,” Sirius warned.
“We have nowhere to be,” Remus smiled as Sirius swayed forward with the words. He kissed his lips, easing him down over him until he could wrap his arms around his waist. “Come here, love.”
Sirius laughed softly, but settled down.
Dinner was delicious and not as awkward as lunch. The brothers seemed to be getting along better, and they made Remus feel alright about needing a translation.
Things got more serious after dinner. They were drinking tea spiked with strong liquor, and Remus felt warm all over, tucked into Sirius’ side. Dima and Regulus were stretched out on the floor in front of the fire, eating some sort of caramel candy.
“When was the last time you talked to mother?” Remus made out Regulus saying.
He felt Sirius stiffen beside him. “Um. Last week. Confirming plans.”
Regulus eyed him carefully, pushing himself up from resting on his elbows to resting back on his palms.
“This is what will happen, okay?” Regulus said, elbows moving to rest on his knees. His dark hair was framed by the firelight. “I’m telling you right now.”
“Okay…” Sirius began.
“They’re not going to be okay in the beginning,” Regulus said. “But I can see you think you are going to be in danger. That isn’t true.”
Sirius sighed. “I don’t think danger, I just think…” Sirius looked down. “I will no longer be…you know, the successful child. I’ll be something else.”
Regulus scoffed. “You’re the successful child because I am the unsuccessful child, not because of your love life.” Regulus shook his head. “Sirius, they love you. This is true, at least.”
“But what if not after?” Sirius said, then pressed his lips together. He wrapped his arm around Remus more tightly. “After they know.”
“Then…” Regulus began. “Then I convince them.”
Sirius looked up. “You would?”
Remus looked at Sirius, trying to gage his reaction—his real reaction.
Regulus tilted his head from side to side. “Okay, fine. Then I try to convince them.”
“You—” Remus began, trying to find the words. “Maybe, yes, you help. Good to have brother. Other people.”
“I brought Remus because…” Sirius looked at Remus, eyes searching and worried. “I wanted them to meet him before they decide how they…”
“Why didn’t you tell me?” Regulus said. “Remus just said. I’m your brother.”
Sirius let out a breath, rubbing his eyes and then staring at the fire. “I’m scared.”
“You don’t have to be scared of me,” Regulus said.
“How was I suppose to know that?” Sirius snapped. “We don’t speak.”
“And whose fault is that?”
Sirius opened his mouth, paused, and then closed it again. Remus felt him sag a little against his side and held him tighter.
Regulus sighed. He looked at Dima, and Remus watched him raised a shoulder. Then, he finished off his glass and looked back at Sirius.
“We’re leaving in the morning,” he said, and the rest was lost on Remus, but he didn’t look upset. “It’s fine, it’s fine, we will go back to be, what?”
He said a word in Russian and then Dima said, “spoiled.”
“Spoiled by mama’s cooking.”
“And we see you at Christmas,” Dima said in English.
“Reg…” Sirius said.
“Really, it’s okay,” Regulus nodded and stood. “You deserve good things, Sirius. And you, Remus. And…I want you to have good memories now…even if the later ones aren’t. Know it’s okay with me.” Then, he looked at Remus. “Our family will like you.”
“I hope so,” Remus replied and Regulus laughed.
“You really do have a horrible accent.”
Remus laughed, too. “I know.”
He looked at Sirius, and was glad to see the faintest of smiles there on his face.
The next morning, they watched Regulus and Dima pull out and down the road from the living room window, and then Remus smiled, feeling arms around his waist. He could smell the fresh blinis waiting on the counter for them.
“I think he’s right,” Remus said, imagining the two of them driving down that same road, towards Sirius’ family home. “I think it will be okay.”
“I hope. But now, just us,” Sirius said with a gentle kiss to his neck.
Remus leaned against him. “Just us.”

I didn’t have any in real life or online friends who like twst before meeting you so you mean a lot to me as my first. You always make me laugh whether it be bullying you or rotting over our mains together. Even when we get serious, I still love talking to you. You’re that amazing.  I hope you have an amazing day, one just as amazing as you are. Eat lots of cake and pocky. I love you ♡
“Jade,” you said, tugging at his sleeves.
He sighed through his strained smile as he set down a glass he was polishing. He tucked his hair behind his ear and dusted off his slacks as if he was brushing away invisible crumbs off the garment. It was an ungodly hour. He was working overtime for Mostro Lounge. Today was unusually busy. As vice prefect, Jade took it upon himself to bite off more than he could chew. And he could chew a lot actually. He was a moray eel with two sets of jaws and an immense appetite. In his human form, he only had one set of jaws yet the appetite remained.
The lounge was deserted. Students shuffled to the mirror chambers and headed to their respective dorms to retire for the night. Jade, on the other hand, was sitting on a barstool with an array of glasses and creased brows. You sat by his side, doing your assignments and engaging him in idle chatter here and there. He had promised to help you with your alchemy homework, but alas his duties called for him. In a way. You didn’t mind per se since he helped you understand the material within minutes during his short-lived breaks.
They were about three minutes long and Jade only took two breaks ever since his shift started. You weren’t an expert at reading people like he was, but even you could tell he could use some rest or a pick-me-up at least. Perhaps the latter. Jade was stubborn. He wasn’t going to head to his bedroom until he was done.
“Yes, (y/n)?”
You reached into your book bag and pulled out a small box of biscuits– pocky to be exact. You held it in front of his gaze. He cocked his head.
“Let’s play the pocky game.”
“Maybe later. We can play after I finish. Or tomorrow. It’s late so you should return to your living quarters and get some rest,” Jade said as he turned his attention to his task.
“Please? Think of it as a break. Your last one was about three hours ago.”
“Well, if you put it like that then I shall indulge you, my dear.”
Heat rose to your cheeks as he spun the barstool to make direct eye contact with you. You avoided his gaze as you opened the box, selecting a random stick of pocky and holding it in front of him. He took it and examined it with a perplexed expression.
“What is this?”
“Pocky.”
“Which is?”
“It’s like a cookie biscuit thing with a chocolate covering,” you said, getting yourself your own stick.
“I see. So this ‘pocky’ edible.”
“Yes,” you nodded, biting the pocky.
He mirrored your actions. You watched him chew it thoroughly. His eyes wandered around the ceiling of the lounge. You held your breath as he closed his eyes and exhaled.
“It’s delectable.”
Your shoulders relaxed and he chuckled under his breath. It would have been disappointing if Jade didn’t like pocky. That would mean you couldn’t persuade him to play the pocky game. You looked into his eyes lovingly while he nibbled on the remainder of the stick.
“And what is ‘the pocky game’?” Jade mused.
You took out another biscuit. His brows arched as you waited for him to swallow the last bit of his current pocky stick.
“The objective of the game is to be the last to hold onto the stick as we each take a bite and move closer to the center. Whoever is the last to pull away wins. You take one end and I’ll take the other. I’ll let you have the chocolate end because it’s your first time playing.”
“My, my how kind of you. I almost thought you were the headmaster. All you needed was to comment on your kindness.”
“Ha ha,” you deadpanned.
He brought his hand to chin. He feigned curiosity.
“Though… if you wanted to kiss me you could have just said, (y/n),” Jade gave you a toothy grin, ones he shot at the poor unfortunate freshmen souls that tried to escape the conditions of Octavinelle’s yearly exam contracts before chasing them down the hallways with his brother.
“I-I.. It would be more fun?”
“I jest, my pearl. There’s no shame in wanting to engage in intimacy. I shall indulge you. Though, I have a feeling that I will win every round– seeing as you get flustered even when I embrace you without warning fufu~”
There was not a shred of innocence in his voice. Jade knew where this was going. He was going to do everything in his power to win. He was good at that sort of thing, small ministrations that drove you wild.
When he found out that you were sensitive to neck kisses, chaste or not, he greeted you every morning outside of your first period threshold with a peck on the side of your neck. The first time he did that, you were reduced to a puddle of empty thoughts, a spasm of spiraling emotions and heated cheeks. The following incidents featured your hand instinctively shooting to the spot he kissed, cheeks still hot and bothered. When you had adapted to his rhythm, he kissed your neck in the halls, during lunch, and when he walked you back to your dorm. They were spontaneous and sporadic. They ceased when winter began and you wore a scarf around your neck all day, every day. Of course, that was months ago. The routine faded as your relationship developed. Jade had his share of teasing and came to understand that setting your nerves on fire on a daily basis despite your protests wasn’t exactly healthy. He also came to understand how people might get the wrong idea from neck kisses. He teased you for hours on end for being so lewd, but digressed when you were on the verge of tears due to embarrassment. That didn’t stop his other methods of teasing, but at least you were free from public surprise neck kisses.
Jade loved to tease. He was good at it too. He knew you and your ticks like the back of his hand. You were certainly going to lose this game, but it was better not to let your true feelings show and give him the upper hand.
You inserted the biscuit between Jade’s lips and took a deep breath before taking your end. It was more so a hybrid of a deep breath and a yawn. It was late after all.
Jade’s eyes widened and the stick broke in half. Your eyes widened as well.
“You’re supposed to hold onto the stick for a long as you can, silly.”
He closed his eyes: “Yes, my bad. Shall we try again?”
“One to zero,” you said as you slipped a biscuit into his lips.
“Did that count?”
“Of course it does.”
He pouted as you inhaled and exhaled deeply before taking your end of the pocky. It snapped immediately.
“Jade,” you whined, drawing out the last syllable of his name.
“Apologies, my dear. It seems to be instinctive for me to bite the stick.”
“You can bite. It’s just that the pocky keeps breaking in half whenever you bite it. Maybe try to be more gentle?”
“Two to zero.”
“You’re so cruel, (y/n).”
You giggled as you handed him the stick. He pursed his lips and held the stick out for you to take a bite from your end. You closed our eyes and opened your mouth to take a deep breath once more and the stick snapped before you knew it.
You looked up at Jade to see the pocky awkwardly sticking out of his hand which was covering his face. Mostro Lounge’s dim lights made it difficult to make out many details, but you were positive that Jade Leech was profusely blushing.
“Jade?”
“C-Could you not do that*?”
“Do what?”
What could have possibly reduced him to such an adorable state? He’s usually so composed. He was never this flustered. Out of all the times you tried to get him to break, he was resilient. And here you were, not having any idea as to what you did to make him blush.
“O-Open your mouth.”
“Pardon?”
A yawn escaped from your lips. Jade spun the bar stool around and stared at the glasses with sudden interest.
“Could you not do that?”
“Yawn?”
He nodded.
“Why?”
He mumbled something under his breath.
“Jade?”
“(y/n), you should have just asked for a kiss.”
The eel stood up curtly from his seat. He towered over you and his eyes glowed in the dark lighting. He pulled out a pocky stick from the box in your petite hands and slipped it in between your lips. There was a small pause before he came crashing down. If he hadn’t been holding your shoulders so firmly, you might’ve fell over from the force that he exerted. He came barreling towards your lips. You weren’t sure if he had even bit the pocky. You felt it snap, but when you parted your mouth to allow his tongue to entangle with yours, you could not find a single trace of the biscuit. The flavor lingered in his mouth, but the pocky itself was nonexistent. Did he swallow it whole?
He did not leave your mind to wander too far from him. He kissed you hungrily and nipped at your lips. His sharp teeth grazed your flesh and you mewled into the kiss. You could hear him growl faintly as he held onto your waist. You wrapped your arms around his neck to deepen the kiss. He tiled your head for a better angle. You pushed him away. You needed to catch your breath.  A string of saliva fell from your lips.
“Jade,” you gasped as he nuzzled his head in the crook of your neck.
“It would be in your best interest if you don’t do that again, especially during mating season. I don’t think I’ll be able to control myself next time. I might break you in half, dearest.”
Your cheeks flushed as you nodded absentmindedly. Mating season?
He bit your neck.You yelped and wriggled out of his embrace.
“Jade!” you hissed, clutching your neck.
“Consider that a small price to pay,” he chuckled.
You huffed.
“I win this time,” he said.
“Yeah, yeah…”
He packed the glasses onto a shelf.
“You’re free to go now. I’ve finished here so you don’t have to keep me company anymore. Would you like me to escort you?”
“No, it’s fine,” you said, trying to stifle a yawn.
“Goodnight, (y/n).”
“Goodnight, Jade. See you tomorrow.”
Though you had agreed not to yawn, it escaped your lips. Luckily, your back was facing Jade as you exited the lounge so he didn’t see you yawn, but rather heard you yawn. You heard a distant bang on the counter as well as a faint “dammit” from a voice you knew all too well.
It took every fiber in your body to restrain yourself from turning around. You knew all too well that if you turned around, he would’ve rushed towards you and snapped you in half just like a pocky stick. It was best to give him a little breathing room even if you were hot and bothered yourself.
*Note: To initiate the mating process, moray eels open their mouths very wide at each other to signal the start of it. This trait carries over to when (y/n) yawns as Jade took it as a sign for his eel-y instincts.

Floral Pistachio
“We have to go there, Papa. It's grandma and my favourite,” Scorpius cried excitedly, dragging Draco by the hand. “That’s the shop right there,” he squealed and made a dash for it.
Draco jogged the last few feet and entered the shop called L’etoile . He leaned against a counter to catch his breath but the sight in front of him stole it away once again.
There was Scorpius, seated on a table top chattering away with none other than Harry Potter himself.
“Scorpius! What have I told you about running on the streets!” Draco chided, finally finding his tongue.
“I’m sorry, Papa,” the five-year-old pouted before resuming munching on a chocolate éclair.
When did he get that? “What are you eating, Scorp?”
“Chocolate éclair,” he mumbled, cream and chocolate smeared around his little mouth. “Harry always lets me try the specials of the day.”
Harry laughed and gently wiped the boy’s face with a napkin as Draco gaped at them.
“That’s not polite, Scorp,” he sputtered.
“Grandma doesn't mind, and I always thank Harry,” he said indignantly and Harry hid a snort.
Draco huffed and made a mental note to have a word about all of this with his mother. But not today. Today was her birthday and they needed to get back on task, which was buying her favourite cake from her favourite bakery as per Scorpius.
“I’m sorry, Potter. Please allow me to pay for this.”
“Please, it’s on the house. I can’t charge my little taste tester and critic here!” Harry grinned. “So what can I get for y’all today?”
“We’re looking for the ‘Floral Pistachio?’” Draco fumbled glancing at Scorpius who nodded effusively.
“It’s grandma’s birthday and she likes pistachios.”
“Great choice!” Harry beamed at Scorpius. “I just baked one this morning!” he turned and smiled at Draco. “It's got pistachios – obviously – cardamom, rosewater, a hint of lemon, balsamic-soaked strawberries and refreshing rose buttercream.”
Harry brought out a beautiful cake frosted in baby pink and pistachio green, topped with beautiful piped roses. “I just finished piping these before you arrived,” he proudly displayed his creation as Draco looked at it in awe while Scorpius eyed it hungrily. He had evidently inherited his sweet tooth from his dad.
“It’s also known as the Persian Love Cake,” Harry continued, “The story behind the name is that once upon a time there was a Persian woman madly in love with a prince. To make him fall in love with her, she baked him this cake, filled with magical love powers,” Harry said wistfully before remembering his audience. “I’m so sorry, I get carried away sometimes,” he blushed. “So, ‘Floral Pistachio’… I’ll pack it up.”
While Harry packed up the cake, Scorpius dragged Draco to the display case and showed him all his favourite confections.
“Will that be all?” Harry asked.
Draco hesitated. “Could we also have a box of the éclairs Scorp was having? They looked delicious.”
“Of course! These are on the house for my favourite customer,” Harry said as he handed over the items.
“Oh, no, Potter, we can't –”
“I insist! And please wish Narcissa a happy birthday from me.”
Draco nodded as Scorpius piped up, “We’re having a party for Grandma tonight, you should come, Harry!”
“Oh, I wouldn't want to impose,” Harry mumbled.
Draco’s not sure what made him do this, but he added, “You should come. I’m sure Mother would like that. Andy and Teddy will be there, too.”
“Yesss, pleaseeee, Harry,” Scorpius pleaded.
“Okay,” he relented.
Scorpius cheered as Draco gave him the time and Floo details before leaving the store.
Draco spent the rest of the day in a daze. Harry Potter was coming over for dinner tonight.
Harry spent the rest of the day with a smile on his face and a skip in his step.
At 6 pm sharp, Harry stepped out of the Floo at Malfoy Manor. He had left the bakery early, requesting Luna to cover the last few hours for him. After a quick change of clothes, he’d nipped to Grimmauld Place’s wine cellar to select a bottle of wine and picked up a delicate bouquet of blue agapanthus, white oriental lilies and large white roses.
Teddy and Andy were already there and Narcissa greeted him warmly. They made small talk, drank, ate and laughed. Harry was seated next to Draco during dinner and they chatted about Scorpius and Teddy, Draco’s job, and Harry's bakery. It was an unsurprisingly comfortable evening.
After dinner, they all retired to the living room. Draco played a few songs on the piano before cutting Narcissa’s birthday cake.
“Oh, this is simply gorgeous, Harry!” Andromeda gasped when the cake was brought out.
“Absolutely divine as always!” Narcissa raved after taking a dainty bite.
Once Scorpius had finished his second slice of cake, Draco decided it was time for bed. “Come on darling, you’ve had a long day, it’s time for bed,” Draco cooed and gently lifted his son off the sofa.
“Oh sit, Draco, I’ll put him to bed, it's Teddy’s bedtime as well,” Andy said as she took Scorpius from Draco’s arms.
The teen looked like he was about to protest but a look from Andy had him shutting up.
“Can cousin Teddy read me a bedtime story? He does the best impressions!” Scorpius asked cheerfully.
“Oh yes, Nan, can I, please?” Teddy asked, his hair turning a shade of platinum blond to match Scorpius.
“Oh alright, but just one story and you must brush your teeth and change into your jammies first,” Andy relented. “Now say goodbye to everyone and head upstairs.”
After a series of goodbyes and goodnights and I love yous and hugs, the kids went upstairs.
“I should get going too,” Harry said.
“Oh,” Draco replied. Did he sound disappointed?
“Why don't you stay for a cup of tea, Harry dear. I’ll just put the kettle on,” Narcissa said and left the room.
After a few beats of awkward silence, Harry spoke. “Thanks for inviting me, Draco, I had a lovely time.”
“Thanks for coming, and for the lovely wine. Oh and that delicious cake!” he moaned.
Harry flushed. “I meant what I said, by the way. You can come by Grimmauld Place whenever and I can show you the wine cellar. I’m sure you’d appreciate it more than me!”
Draco smiled, then snarked, “Of course, I’m an oenophile. But only if you promise to feed me some sweets as well!”
“It’s a date,” Harry laughed and Draco had a pleased blush on his face.
And if they heard some squealing and shushing coming from behind the kitchen door, they chose to ignore it.
It was past 6 pm on Saturday when Draco stepped out of the Floo at Grimmauld Place as instructed by Harry in his letter.
The house looked cheerful and airy, with large windows, light walls and comfortable furniture. It looked homey and inviting, unlike the house he had visited as a child with his mother. Harry had definitely worked on it.
“Draco, is that you? I’m in the kitchen, come on through.”
Draco followed the sound of the voice and found Harry in the kitchen icing a cake while wearing an apron that said ‘I cook as good as I look.’
“Hey, nice apron,” Draco smirked as Harry broke into a grin.
“Hi, make yourself comfortable. I’m just finishing this up.”
“What is it? Looks sinful,” Draco said.
“Our conversation the other night gave me an idea and I began working on it this morning,” Harry said as he piped the cake with concentration. “It’s a champagne cream and fresh strawberry cake. Perfect for a sweet toothed oenophile!” he declared.
“Here, taste it,” he said, cutting a slice and feeding it to Draco, then popping the rest of the piece in his mouth.
“Mmmm,” they both moaned. “This is gooood! Potter, cut me another piece.”
Harry did as told and fed the piece to Draco then peered at his face for a reaction.
“Is the balance alright? Do you think the strawberries overpower the champagne? I obviously can’t give it to my regular taste tester, Scorp, so you’ll have to do,” he rambled, then saw Draco staring at him intently and blushed. “Sorry, I get carried away sometimes.”
Draco grinned. “It’s cute… You’re cute… I mean, uh, your enthusiasm...” he petered off.
Harry stared at him with an indecipherable expression, then raised his hand to wipe off a smear of cream from the corner of Draco’s lips.
Draco’s breath hitched.
Harry hoped he’d read the situation right and whispered, “I’d like to kiss you.”
Draco nodded and closed the distance between them.
“That was amazing,” Harry panted as they broke apart.
“Strawberries and champagne are my new favourite flavour,” Draco declared, drawing out a laugh from Harry, who pressed their foreheads together.
“Mine is ‘Floral Pistachio’, it most certainly is ‘the love cake’."
This is my Wheel of Drarry Exchange gift for the lovely @hbee. I hope you enjoy this ball of fluff!
A big thank you to @crazybutgood for all the valuable help! You're a star!

Surprise
CW: food
Characters by @lumosinlove
I wrote this a while ago, but never uploaded it. Hope you'll like it :)
"No, I wanna go to Narnia. Lemme- I wanna-"
Sirius had a hard time holding back his giggles as he watched his husband roll around in their bed. Leaning over he caressed his hand over the expanse of his sides, drawing soothing lines until Remus stopped moving and talking, going back to his even breathing.
Sirius propped his head over his husbands' sleeping form to be able to see their alarm clock display 11:00. They were never usually able to sleep that long, not because their bodies wouldn't allow it, Remus had proven he could sleep until the evening if no one woke him up, but rather because of their practice being regularly scheduled in the morning.
Now, however they were in the anticipated off season, which meant time to be as cliche of a couple as Sirius could manage. He knew Remus liked it, the fact that the Lions Captain, who put on a stone face mask every time he was on the ice, was able to let go this much and express himself in ways that only Remus got to see.
"Thinking of the devil," Sirius muttered as his husband turned just enough to place a few sleepy kisses to his shoulder, before snuggling into his neck.
Remus pulled himself closer to the taller man, determined to bury his face further into the crook of Sirius' neck than was physically possible. He continued until he got his husband squirming out of his embrace, cranking his neck to the other side so Remus would be able to reach it.
The brunette looked up, slowly blinking his eyes open, a lazy smile on his lips. He would say that was the best part of his day, but he had things planned.
"It tickled," Sirius gave as an explanation, moving back to hold Remus, placing a kiss on his forehead. Then smiled, adding "Good Morning, mon amour."
Remus took a slow, deep breath before leaning over Sirius, placing a gentle kiss on his lips. "Good morning, baby."
They both settled back down into the pillows and just stayed there, until Sirius turned to his husband. "You want to get up?"
"No." Remus grumbled back, seemingly half asleep again.
Sirius smirked as he combed through golden curls "I have a surprise for you."
That made Remus peek up. Sirius knew he liked surprises, he didn't quite share the feeling, but loved planning them for him. He especially loved seeing the different reactions of his husband.
First came curiosity and adoration, when Sirius first told him about something he was planning.
Afterwards there was just excitement. Remus seemed to get so much energy through the promise of something unknown. Before a reveal, he could, more often than not, be seen jumping or running around, trying to get rid of the energy.
Then, at the reveal, the first reaction is usually Remus freezing in place, sometimes a hand over his mouth. He seemed so overwhelmed because of whatever Sirius did for him.
The black haired had asked if it wasn't making him uncomfortable, as Sirius himself hated being overwhelmed, but Remus had assured him he loved the feeling in those moments.
The last emotion that Sirius got to see on his husband's face whenever he surprised him was pure love. Everytime he showed the other his surprise it was like Remus couldn't believe he got so lucky.
Sirius felt like it was pretty mutual.
Remus was still looking at him, expectantly and curious.
Sirius sat up and got off the bed, extending an arm to his husband. "Come on. I'll show you."
They climbed out of their bed and Sirius went straight for the kitchen, telling Remus he could just take a nice shower in the meantime, while he was preparing something.
He did and once he was done they both got to brushing their teeth next to each other, fooling around too much to be efficient, but neither seemed to mind.
--
Sirius plans turned out to lead them into a car, the back packed with things Remus wasn't allowed to see. But he presumed everything was going well, since Sirius smiled smugly and that only got Remus more excited for whatever his husband had planned.
He was only a bit confused, when Sirius stopped the car in front of a forest. They both climbed out of the car and Remus was hit by the smell of fresh air and cut wood. The air in Gryffindor wasn't bad at all, but still you could smell the difference in a heartbeat. It was also way quieter than at home, he noticed. There were a few cars driving in some distance, but he could actually hear the birds. Other birds than pigeons that is.
While Remus was still staring at the trees towering over them, he heard something being set down behind him and right after felt arms circling his waist. Sirius placed his head on the others shoulder, kissing his cheek. "It's beautiful, eh?"
"It really is. How did you find this place?" Remus asked, turning around.
Sirius' smile turned into one Remus couldn't quite place until he told him dramatically "I was talking about you, mon coeur."
Remus laughed. He loved that side of Sirius. The one that was able to make a remark so sweet, yet with just enough sarcasm to make it funny.
Placing his hands on Remus cheeks, Sirius leaned down to kiss his nose. Which still managed to make Remus flush. He looked down at the ground. Next to Sirius on were the items he'd hidden in the back of the car. There was a backpack on the left and a picnic basket on the right. "We'll have a picnic?" he asked excitedly.
Sirius nodded, sharing Remus' expression "You like them, non? This seemed like the perfect place."
"Yeah," Remus said dreamy "It's perfect. You're perfect." He leaned up to his toes to kiss Sirius. They broke apart rather quickly though, the black haired walking over to get the backpack and basket.
Before Remus was even able to open his mouth to offer his help, Sirius just took his hand with his unoccupied one. "I'm a professional hockey player. I can handle carrying two things at once, but thank you." Placing a final kiss onto Remus' cheek for now, they wandered off into the forest.
After a few turns Remus wasn't actually sure where they were going anymore but his husband seemed to have a clue as he didn't even blink before making turns. After only a couple of minutes of walking into the forest they arrived at a clearing and Remus stopped right there in his tracks, pulling Sirius into an abrupt halt as well.
"Are you okay?" he asked after Remus proceeded to just letting his gaze dart around the clearing.
He let out a slow breath and held Sirius hand tighter. "Yeah, sorry, this just doesn't seem real."
They stood there for another moment before Remus ran off. He felt like a child, but this looked like it was taken straight from a fairy tale. The sun was shining through the trees, colouring the grass and moss beautiful shades of green. There were little footpaths snaking through the trees, Ivy growing up most of them.
"This is incredible!" still running around, he shouted back to Sirius, who was slowly making his way over to a sunbathe spot.
He heard Sirius laugh. It was perfect. Running over to where his husband had put down a way-too-cliche red and white checked picnic blanket, he just crashed into the other, who had tried to reach over to the basket. Sirius didn't seem to mind being tackled onto the ground by the love of his love, placing a burst of kisses all over his face.
"It's beautiful. Don't worry our wedding day will forever be the best day in my life, but this is up there on the list so far."
Sirius had known Remus would like this, of course, that had been the reason for the surprise. However, what he hadn't expected was for the other to love it this much. Seeing so much joy on Remus' face was probably the best thing to happen all week.
Sirius positively beamed "I'm so glad you like it! Took quite some time to find this place, but definitely worth it."
"Definitely," Remus said as he settled back onto Sirius. They just played there for a bit, until the shorter mans stomach growled.
"Ah, yes, food." Sirius adjusted his position, reaching over to the basket.
His husband sat up, making a nice space in front of them for whatever Sirius had brought. Placing the basketball next to him he pulled out item after item and set it in front of them. Once he was done he was done, he looked over at Remus, who seemed confused, yet impressed.
Sirius just smiled and got to explaining "We have some drinks of course: Water, Tea and Coffee; Then of course food, because I know you're hungry and I'm almost done, just wait another minute:" Remus put his head on Sirius shoulder as he continued explaining, "We've got a fruit salad I actually made -i'm pretty proud of that- then some grilled cheese in there so they stay warm, turkey sandwich, with cranberry sauce of course, some cut up vegetables plus dip and of course chocolate cake provided by Celeste, which is as close to on the diet plan as she could manage without it losing the taste."
"Wow," was the first thing Remus said, looking over all the things laying out in front of them. "Most of this is not even close to on our diet plan, but honestly, I couldn't care less. This is absolutely adorable, baby, thank you." There was that look, the one full of love with nothing else at all to distract from it.
"You like it? It's good, nothing missing?" Sirius asked. He was pretty sure Remus liked it, but he needed to make sure he hadn't forgotten anything.
Remus turned his head, moving his hands to his husbands cheeks, successfully turning his head to face him. "It's perfect and I love it." He kissed Sirius. "I love you."

Thief’s Kiss (Remy LeBeau x Reader) [Request]
Hi! Can I send a request too? I really wanna something about Remy / The Gambit, please. Maybe a date 😁 A romantic dinner with a make out session after (It doesn't need to be like a real smut) 😉 A lot of neck kisses, plese! 🥰🥰🥰 — Requested by anon
Tagged: @illbegoinhome (since you expressed an interest in him before)

Remy LeBeau was trouble incarnate if ever you saw one. His name was LeBeau, after all. But it wasn’t just his roguish smile, fabulous hair, buttery accent, or those enchanting black-and-red eyes. It was in the way he carried himself, the swagger, the confidence. It told you he was most definitely a man who walked around in his boxers at home—or in the nude.
You knew this at first glance, but when he asked you in that drawl of his, “My, my, chère, tell me you’d be willin’ ta be my date for tonight,” you said yes without reserve.
Arriving a few minutes late to the semi-upscale restaurant, you found him already seated outside on the veranda, looking fine in a tailored suit. He had ditched the tie, the top button undone to reveal some of the skin underneath. You paused for a moment to admire the tableau.
As though sensing your appreciative gaze, Remy glanced up in your direction and grinned, flashing perfect teeth in an even more perfect face. Fighting the tingling in your stomach, you joined him at the table. He jumped up to pull out the chair for you.
Chivalry, you thought. I have to watch out for this one.
Settling back in the seat across from you, Remy took a moment to return your appreciative glance. “You look magnifique, chère.”
Heat flushed up your neck and cheeks. What were you, a schoolgirl? You’d been on plenty of dates before; why the hell were you so nervous around him?
His smile widened.
I’m in for trouble, you thought, and you smiled back.
After placing your orders with the waiter, Remy segued into small talk. “So, what do you do for work?”
“I work for Lawson Stettler of Stettler, Inc. I procure items for him for his collections.” You smiled, chuckled to yourself. “They call me the Finder of All Lost Things.”
“Sounds like my job.”
“Oh?”
“Procurin’ things that are difficult to get ahold of. It’s my specialty.”
Your eyebrows arched. “It takes a special kind of skill set…and mind set.”
“We’re all made for somethin’.”
“I agree. So, do you work for anyone in particular? Or are you a freelancer?”
“I prefer freelancin’. Providin’ for myself is half de fun.”
You shook your head. “I’m on call at all hours, because Mr. Stettler has sudden urges to acquire things—and sure, I don’t like that—but I’m not sure I could handle not having the security of a permanent job.”
“Security ain’t all it’s cut out ta be.”
Laughing in agreement, you felt your nerves ease. The waiter brought over the meals a few moments later. Moving your clutch from your lap to the table, you dug into the food with as much daintiness as you could manage, despite the fact you were actually quite famished. Remy ate heartily as well, keeping you engaged with a rollicking story involving the acquisition of some pearls for an unnamed client. You had the feeling he was deliberately hiding things, but you avoided the sensation and focused on enjoying the outrageousness of the story. His energy had you buzzing with excitement.
Dessert arrived shortly after you finished your meals. Instead of sharing, you had each ordered something different: créme brûlée and a sense, moist chocolate cake. Remy reached over and sliced off a small piece of your brûlée with his fork.
Chuckling, you batted away his fork with your own when he reached for another bite. A woman with a basket hanging off her arm wandered over to you. A fresh set of various roses lay nestled in the wicker basket.
“A rose for the lady?” she asked.
“He could use one for his lapel,” you quipped.
“Me? Am I not already handsome enough?” Remy fished out some change from his pocket and paid for one rose. Instead of presenting it to you, however, he took his butter knife to it, cutting away nearly all of the stem and its thorns.
You watched with interest, curious.
“Voilà,” he cried, flourishing it, “now it can complement your hair.”
“Oh?”
Remy stood, moved his chair closer to yours, and gently reached forward, his smile soft, though his eyes were sharp with amusement. “May I?”
“Sure.”
His fingers brushed through your hair, curling stray strands behind your ear. Electricity sparked through you at the touch, warming your skin and sending a tingling sensation down to your toes. Trying not to lose your head, you tipped back under his ministrations as he tucked the rose over your ear and into your hair.
His lips ghosted over your neck just below your earlobe, trailing down your throat. Your breath caught as his touch, as light as a feather, skimmed over your skin. Fire followed in its wake, your nerves alight with it.
“There we are, chére,” he murmured against your skin, gently ghosting back up to the spot below your ear. He pressed a gentle kiss there, humming low in his throat.
Eyes fluttering shut, you tipped your head back, giving him better access. He peppered kisses down your throat, each touch of his feather-soft lips blossoming fire beneath your skin.
It wasn’t until the touch of his tongue laving over a spot near your collarbone sent a delicious jolt through you that you remembered you were out in public.
Pulling back with reluctance, you smiled at his bemused expression, trying not to notice his dilated pupils, and murmured, “You’re forward, aren’t you?”
“Some opportunities can’t be given up, chère,” he answered, his voice husky.
Swallowing thickly, you returned your attention to your brûlée. It felt cold on your tongue, especially when Remy seemed to be more than dessert enough for you. He paid for the meal and escorted you back to your car, where he paused to give you a proper kiss on the mouth. His tongue swept into your mouth, sending electric shocks through you. When you pulled away you could hardly catch your breath.
“My thanks,” he murmured, bowing his head with a rakish smile. “I will be de gentleman tonight, but perhaps another time, non?”
The words tumbled out of you. “Yes, definitely.”
“I look forward to it.”
With a bow, he walked off into the night, leaving you by the car. You watched him disappear past the reach of the street lamps before sagging against your car door and digging around in your clutch for your keys.
You pulled them out, then hesitated, frowning. Glancing into the clutch again, you shifted its spare contents around.
Your keycard was gone.
That cheeky bastard, you thought. Then you smiled, the curve of it vulpine.
He wasn’t the only one who had tricks up his sleeve. He had made a mistake stealing from you.
You could track him down with your mutant ability. You were, after all, the Finder of All Lost Things.
It gave you an excuse to see him sooner than he expected.

Care
Matsukawa x gn reader fluff
Author’s Note: This is sort of a prequel to my first fic? It’s a lot longer though and uh, tw disordered eating maybe
For as long as Issei had worked this job, he had been an early riser. He rose before the sun, sitting down on the edge of the bed while you lay fast asleep. He stretched and popped and cracked instinctively before getting up to brush his teeth. He’d walk, eyes still half closed, to his ‘home gym,’ or the space in the guest bedroom he had converted, knowing full well you wanted it in the garage. ‘It’s too spooky in there in the morning,’ he’d laugh, both of you knowing he just wanted to work out in the air conditioned room.
He’d finish off with yoga and meditation, centering his mind, body, and spirit, before hopping into the warm shower. He’d always leave the bathroom door open in case you woke up, ready to goofily tease you before you even remembered where you were.
“You like what you see, baby?” He’d wink, holding his Discobolus pose as you shook your head.
“Put some clothes on, Zeus,” you rolled back over but soon heard footsteps approaching.
“I’m offended that you’d compare me to the most promiscuous man on Mt. Olympus,” he kneeled next to the bed, grabbing your chin in his hand. “I’d prefer to be Perseus, and have my Andromeda ruling at my side.”
“It’s too early,” you dragged out the syllables as Issei rested his hand on your hip beneath the covers.
“What do you want for breakfast, sweetie? I can make pancakes,” he pressed a kiss to your hand resting on the pillow. You nodded, pulling the blanket back over your shoulders.
“I’m sure Perseus wore pants.” He rose, grabbing a pair of cobalt blue boxer briefs from the shared dresser.
“I’m sure Andromeda made the pancakes.”
Your arms found their way around Issei’s firm torso while he flipped each finished pancake on either of the two plates on the counter. He had a system, every other pancake was chocolate chip, “maybe you’ll be sweeter to me if I give you sugar,” he’d always say. The plain ones were for him, though he would spread peanut butter over them anyway. He’d learned that from you the first time he had made you pancakes, the first time you had spent the night in his arms.
“Do you want anything else, angel?” You shook your head against his back. He carefully turned around, handing you your plate. “I’m surprised you’re up so early,” he laughed.
“It was cold last night, had you brought out the winter blankets like I asked, I probably wouldn’t be.” You had made your way to the stool at the counter by now, cutting into your pancakes eagerly. It was his turn to hold you now, nuzzling his face into your neck after leaving a soft kiss on your jaw.
“Just say you missed me, baby. That’s okay, too.”
“Do you want to meet at that ramen place for lunch?” Issei was getting ready for his break, awaiting your text response. He was going to go anyway, he hadn’t packed any food. He just wouldn’t mind picking you up on his way.
“I can’t, I have a lunch meeting.” He frowned, those usually meant the worst for you.
“Do you want me to drop something off for you?”
“I’m not hungry,” he rolled his eyes before putting his phone back in his pocket, walking calmly down the street.
He had been battling your loss of appetite due to stress for the entirety of your relationship without much luck. He had never been one to push, but sometimes the only food he could assure you ate was breakfast. He had only gotten you to eat breakfast by making dinner early, leaving you starving by morning. It was only on bad days, it’s like your body would forget. Sometimes you noticed, but were afraid of getting sick if you ate something when you had already felt “full.”
He ate his ramen, debating bringing some back for dinner. There had been weeks where you ate the equivalent of one large meal a day. Every ‘not hungry’ made him fear a week like that, making food that you’d barely touch and praying you’d take it to work with you tomorrow so you wouldn’t wither away. His only solution up to this point was eating, and reminding you that normally this is when you’d eat too. Using your love for routine against you was his only hope, and it hadn’t been working as well as he wanted.
He could tell you felt bad about not eating, that you felt bad about worrying him. What else were you supposed to do if you simply weren’t hungry? Force feeding only made you feel inadequate, you felt full after half a sandwich or a few bites of pasta. The thought of eating a full protein made you sick. At your lowest points you’d start crying while watching tv with him, watching him snack on something you couldn’t bare the thought of consuming. ‘Issei, what’s wrong with me?’ He never knew what to say. When you got stressed your body simply refused fuel, and that worried him.
“How was work, angel?” His job had given him the ability to appear entirely composed regardless of the environment. You could never tell if he was stressed unless he dropped the facade and told you. When it was about you, he’d never tell you. When it was about you, though, you could tell. Issei was always caring. If he could tell you were in distress he’d pull out all the stops. He’d light lavender candles, he’d cook, he’d clean the counter. He wouldn’t complain if you wanted to watch something he didn’t, he wasn’t planning on taking his attention off of your subtle emotional responses.
“It was okay,” you lied. He already knew it wasn’t, but you didn’t want to talk about it. He always got home before you did, he didn’t have nearly as many responsibilities as you did. His work didn’t change, yours did. New projects meant new worries and new responsibilities.
“I’m almost done making dinner,” you had dropped your things by the door as soon as you stepped inside, making your way towards the man slaving over a pot of chicken soup. “I took the winter blankets out, I thought this might help warm you up.” You snaked your arms around his waist, hiding your face into his back as it warmed up, holding the tears welling up in your eyes. You could eat a little bit of soup, just a little bit, if it would make him feel better.
“Thank you,” you let out a deep sigh into his back. “I’m gonna shower.” He was already in his ‘pajamas.’ Issei ran too hot to sleep in anything but underwear, but enjoyed lounging around the house in your oversized Batman pants. You’d offered to buy him his own so you could match, but he said it wouldn’t be the same.
You both sunk onto the couch, searching for something comforting to watch. Maybe a disney movie, or something else you’d seen a million times. “You know how I played volleyball in high school?”
“Yeah, why?” You hadn’t forgotten. He even taught you how to play so your beach trips would be more fun.
“After practice Makki and I would compete to see who could make the better protein shake. I always won.” You laughed, probably way too much.
“You’re bragging to me about protein shakes you made 10 years ago?”
“What? They were good! Have some faith in me,” the movie kept playing, he tightened his grip around your waist. “I have no clue how I’d drink one everyday, though. If I had one now I’d probably puke. Oh, the joys of youth,” he laughed.
“Are you still hungry or something?” He wasn’t, his teenage athlete appetite had gone away as he aged.
“I was thinking about dessert.”
“I’ve had your protein shakes, I wouldn’t consider them a sweet treat.” He gasped, feigning offense.
“You know how much I hate protein powder, you think I was downing that everyday in high school?” You looked at him confused. His current protein shakes weren’t bad, for a protein shake at least. “It’s an acquired taste, and I still hold my nose and chug it.”You laughed at one of your favorite Matsukawa quirks.
“So why'd you stop making them taste good?”
“I was too broke in college to buy all that ice cream.”
“Ice cream? For protein shakes?” He rolled his eyes before pausing the movie.
“I’m gonna make you one, you’re underestimating my 17 year old metabolism.” He stood up, gesturing that you stay put. Issei was having another chaotic urge, apparently.
You turned on the couch, facing the kitchen instead of the tv. He began pulling every sugary food out of the pantry and fridge. Every flavor of ice cream, cookies, granola bars, peanut butter, anything and everything sweet. “You’re using all of that?” He nodded, haphazardly throwing everything in the blender followed by some milk, chocolate syrup, and two scoops of his protein powder. This really was a chaotic recipe, straight from the mind of a gross teenaged boy.
He came back to the couch with glasses for each of them, they looked like they had been filled with a child’s birthday cake puke. “Drink it, I promise it’s good! It’s so you can’t taste the protein powder.” It probably just tastes like chocolate and peanut butter, but you were still hesitant to drink it. “I promise, the team always liked mine better than Makki's.”
You held the glass up to your mouth, slowly drinking it, widening your eyes when you realized how good it actually was. You understood now. Your 26 year old bodies would cease to function if you had these everyday. You couldn’t pull the glass away until you were done.
“Yeah, I definitely didn’t think it’d be that good.” You laughed, wiping your upper lip.
“You couldn’t taste the protein powder right?” You nodded, watching him sip slowly on his, as his face suddenly scrunched up. “You know, I ate a lot at dinner. I probably shouldn’t drink the rest of this. You want it?” You shrugged, taking the glass out of his hand, drinking the rest like you hadn’t eaten anything all day. Oh wait, he thought. You haven’t for 14 hours. Oh wait, he thought, this is it. This was the solution to his biggest worry. A hidden reset button, your sweet tooth.

Paring(s): Kageyama Tobio x Top Male Reader.
Warning(s): NSFW (SMUT), Cursing, Bottom Kageyama, etc etc.
DNI; if you use she/her pronouns.
________
Piercing blue eyes stared up at me with hesitation and determination, a usual combo if you ask me but the first year was practically shaking in his shoes as he opened his mouth every few seconds to peak, only to snap it back closed right after. "Relax Kageyama, there's no need to worry just take your time" I smiled, we had been standing here for a little while after practice ended cause Kageyama said he needed to speak to me, but the poor kid just couldn't utter out a single word. "Um Senpai I uhm-!" A sigh soon escaped past my parted lips, shaking my head slightly at the setter who merely tilted his head at me in confusion.
"Kageyama, you know you can just call me by my name right? I don't care much for the honorifics" I spoke softly, sending the shorter male a lazy smile as he nearly jumped out of his skin- for what reason I do not know but the sight of pink dusting over his cheeks clearly caught my attention. "Yes Senpai!" He shouted, causing me to sigh in defeat, we've been at the whole 'call me by my name' thing for a month or so now, but he is very insistent on calling me Senpai for some reason and unlike Tanaka and Noya, I don't have a thing for it. "Hey Kageyama if you don't mind could we take this to my house? I need to check on my sister before she heads off to a friends house since our parents are out for their anniversary" I asked, glancing towards my watch.
I swear Kageyama's ears burned as he swayed a bit at the mention of coming to my house, so in an attempt to steady him I reached out, gently taking his arms in my hands. "Whoa you okay there?" My tone dripped with worry while I looked him over, not noticing the way he shuffled closer, wrapping his fingers around the front of my shirt. "I-Im alright.." He muttered out with a silent gulp, it wasn't until his gaze met mine that I realized how close we were, "Right, yeah that's good" I whispered, feeling a sudden pull from the way he looked at me, blue eyes swirling with a wanting I haven't seen in a long time.
I couldn't help when my gaze shifted towards his lips, my own tongue unconsciously drawing over mine as I wondered how they'd taste. Nearly jumping from the sudden thought I pulled away from the first year, watching as he blinked himself out of the trance, and with a sheepish grin I scratched at the back of my head. "Anyways! Shall we get going?" Kageyama only nodded and followed along side me, while a pretty pink blush still adored his features, "You know you can tell me anything right? I won't laugh nor judge you" I spoke, hinting at earlier when he tried to tell me something.
Even though the sudden topic was to also keep my mind off what happened only moments ago, "I know it's just-" He quickly cut himself off, sending me a nervous glare before shifting it back towards the ground. Kageyama had been acting weird lately, well, only around me at least. I don't know if he thought I wouldn't notice, even though it's pretty hard not to, he always talked to me a bit more than the others, asking for me to practice with him when no one else could, he'd even show up to my last class and ask if I wanted to walk with him to the club room. However, he's distanced himself from me recently, he'd basically run away or make up some excuse to get away from me, but I've also realized that his face would flush whenever speaking to me, and that his gaze would linger on me a little longer then usual.
"It's alright you can take your time, I don't bite" Unless you want me too.
Shaking my head I quickly squashed the thought, as I walked up to my house, opening the door so Kageyama could walk through, "Th-Thank you" He muttered out, quickly shuffling inside. With a quiet chuckle I walked in after him, "You can head up to my room if you'd like, it's up the stairs, first door on the left" Kageyama just nodded and headed up stairs while I headed towards the kitchen, already knowing my sister would be in there, most likely eating away at the cake I made yesterday.
And turns out I was correct, cause there she is, hunched over the counter with a mouth stuffed with chocolate cake, getting crumbs all over her shirt, and being the lovely brother I am I just had to say something. "I don't think your girlfriend would want you to eat her out with cake all over your teeth" I spoke with a smile, trying not to laugh when she nearly choked on it, "You asshole! S-She's not my girlfriend!" Skyla gasped, trying to get some air back in her lungs while I dug my finger into the cake frosting, licking it off right after. "Hey you know I don't judge, but seriously I think you should brush your teeth first" I winced as she punched my shoulder, heavily glaring at me with her icy blue eyes.
"Don't talk to me like that when you brought a guy home! We both know what you're thinking about if its him" I merely rolled my eyes, as I remembered all the times I talked to her about Kageyama, it's pretty obvious that I like him by now and technically shes not exactly wrong. "Okay okay I get it, just run along now" I huffed, sending her a small smile as she grabbed her bag and ran out the door, while I made my way towards my room.
"Hey sorry for taking so long" I chuckled, shifting my gaze around the room only to find Kageyama's eyes widened, staring at me like a deer caught in headlights. He stood by my closet shirt discarded on the floor, only to be replaced by one of my hoodies that was way to big for him, he looked so small in my clothing, but so god damn adorable I had to turn away to cover the sudden blush that even caused my ears to burn. "Ah! S-Sorry! I'll-" I quickly cut him off my shutting my door with a little more force then I intended, "It's okay! No need to worry, anyways would you like to watch a movie or something?" I asked, quickly trying to change the topic before I did anything I might regret later.
Kageyama merely nodded his head, fumbling with the strings of my hoodie. After a few moments of awkward silence I got a movie on, deciding to pick 'Before I wake' since horror movies seem to keep me at peace, however Kageyama quickly sat next to me on the bed, shuffling so close he was practically in my lap, it's not that I minded it though. Yet when the first jump scare appeared he jumped into my lap, gripping on tightly to my shirt with his legs wrapped around my waist, nearly forcing a groan past my lips from the sudden pressure.
"Hey Kagey-"
"Tobio."
"Huh?" I blinked, hesitantly moving my hands to his waist to keep him in place. "C-Call me Tobio" He stuttered out, looking between my eyes as mine almost immediately moved to his lips, "Tobio.." I whispered, loving the way it rolled off my tongue, and apparently he loved it to, from the sudden shiver that ran down his spine, and the way his grip on me tightened. "Please [Y/n], please kiss me" He whimpered, as I captured his lips with mine, feeling the restraint leave my body at the sound of his moans. His fingers instantly wove through the back of my hair, tugging hard enough to where I couldn't help but groan while I dragged my tongue across his lower lip, pushing my tongue past his parted lips, earning a soft moan from the setter.
The heat of his mouth was to addicting, letting my tongue roll over his teeth and the roof of his mouth, causing him to grind his hips into my own. My mouth instantly latched onto his jaw as my hands moved to his hips, keeping the movement going just so I could hear the occasional whimpers that emitted from his throat against his will. "S-Senpai!" My eyes narrowed at the name, letting out a husky growl while I dragged my hand up his thigh and towards the waistband of his shorts. "C'mon Tobio, even now you decide against saying my name?" I hummed, pressing my lips to the spot behind his ear, feeling him shudder under my touch.
"I guess that's alright.." I smirked, running my hands under the oversized hoodie in order to pull it off him, letting it drop to the floor as I leaned forward, pressing Kageyama's back to the bed, "Cause I'll have you screaming it in no time." I didn't give him time to respond, catching any words he had with my lips, slowly gliding my hands up his athletic build, loving the way it felt beneath my finger tips. I couldn't help but lick my lips at the sight of him beneath me, it was something I definitely hoped I got to see more of, slowly I slipped my hand past the band of his shorts, running my fingers over his twitching cock that forced a shiver down his spine, causing my pants to tighten uncomfortably from the intoxicating sight.
"O-Off" He whimpered, tugging at the bottom of my shirt which I gladly pulled off, watching as his eyes took in every detail of my upper body, those beautiful piercing blue eyes now darkened with desire, a desire I happily shared. With a lazy smirk I brought three fingers towards his lips, narrowing my eyes as he happily took them in his mouth, slowly dragging his tongue up my middle finger, letting my mind wonder what it would feel like to have my cock in his mouth instead. With a quick shake of my head I pulled my fingers away to tug off his shorts, throwing them somewhere in the corner of my room.
We could do that some other time.
Bringing my lips to his ear I kissed it softly, resting my other hand on his hip, "This'll hurt a bit alright? I'll move when you're ready" Kaageyama merely nodded, eagerly bucking his hips up in anticipation that caused me to chuckle softly until I pressed my middle finger to his entrance, slowly sliding it in. Kageyama's nails dug into the skin on my back, letting out soft whimpers as I kissed his forehead and his lips, trying to distract him from the feeling, which seemed to work since he wiggled around, letting out a breathy moan. Carefully I started to pump my finger inside him, trying to be gentle since it seemed like his first time, "M-More!" He whimpered, dragging his nails down my back in a slow motion that forced a groan past my parted lips. Granting his wish I slipped in another finger, moving them in a scissoring motion that caused him to cry out, and soon enough I found the special spot I was looking for that had him screaming.
Pulling my fingers out I ignored his disappointed whine and unbuckled my pants, pull them off along with my boxers, only for Kageyama to wrap his leg around my hip in attempt to pull me closer to him, "H-Hurry." His plea sounded like music to my ears, loving the way he begged for me to take him and for a moment I thought about teasing him, but quickly pushed the thought away as I pushed my cock inside him, groaning at the way his walls tightened around me."S-Senpai!" He gasped out, taking in deep breaths in order to calm himself down while my eyes darkened from the name, "Pl-Please move.." He whined, trying to move but my grip on his hips tightened, keeping him in place.
"What's my name?"
My voice deepened as I spoke, earning a moan from the setter beneath me, desperately trying to get some sort of friction, but I wouldn't allow it until he complied. "[Y-Y/n] please.." With a satisfied smirk I slowly rocked my hips, giving him the pleasure he was begging for while I pressed my lips to his neck, biting softly at the side of his neck before my hands moved under his thighs, pushing them forward so I could get more access inside him. The sudden movement forced a small whimper to emit from his throat, but it was when I hit his prostate that he arched his back, screaming out my name as his nails dug deeper into my skin.
Keeping a mental note of where it is, I repeatedly hit that spot, while letting out soft moans of my own as his walls tightened around me, drawing my climax closer, so with that thought in mind I wrapped my hand around Kageyama's cock, pumping it slowly while running my thumb over the slit. "[Y/N]! F-Faster! Pl-please, I'm close!" Kageyama pleaded, moving his hips in rhythm with mine as I smirked down at him, taking in the details of his sweat drenched hair that clung to his face, his eyes snapped closed tightly, as his body shuddered beneath me when I picked up the pace, slamming into him just to hear those sweet high pitched whimpers.
"[Y/n]!" He screamed, while his nails pierced the skin on my back, but I didn't mind it much as he cummed in my hand. "Just a little more" I groaned feeling my own orgasm draw closer, with a heavy breath I moved to pull out, just to feel Kageyama's legs keep me in place, "C-Cum inside.." He stuttered, hair bouncing with every thrust I made until I finally stopped when I came inside him, sending a shudder through his body once more as my muscles tensed.
I fell beside him since I didn't want to crush him under my weight, trying to steady my breathing before turning my gaze back towards him. "Are you okay?" My voice was barley above a whisper, and luckily he still managed to hear me, "I-Ive been wanting.. To do that for so long" He chuckled in a breathy tone, opening his eyes a bit to smile at me. My heart fluttered in my chest and I drew him closer to me, letting him cuddle up against me even though my body feels all nasty and sweaty.
"Do you want to wait or take a shower now?" I groaned, pressing my nose into his hair.
"Mm, later.."
With a final nod I kissed his forehead, wrapping my arms around his waist protectively, "You're mine now."
"I was hoping you'd say that.."

AHAHA I FINISHED IT AND I LIKE IT
Soft content for Eli’s birthday, featuring some baby Eli content as well
CW: fluff. Eli cries a bit. It’s actually quite happy
***
He kicked his legs excitedly as he sat there in the booth, his brand new shark stuffie clutched tightly in his arms. He was so small, it was quite big compared to him, but that just made it all the better in his opinion. He was only just now turning six years old, but he was certain this was the best birthday, and the best gift he’d gotten in his whole little life.
Everett had kept him home from school that day, he was already excited to brag to anyone who would listen tomorrow about how cool his brother was for doing so. He had made him breakfast, pancakes with whipped cream and rainbow sprinkles, and after that he’d let him choose his own clothes for the day, instead of the strict and stuffy outfits their mother preferred he wore. He didn’t even fight him on his hair, simply tied it back in two ponytails for him instead of fighting with a brush while he cried. To him, it was already a great day just from the morning.
After that, he’d taken him out for the day. He’d repeatedly asked him where they were going but Everett simply assured him it was a surprise, only serving to make him more excited. He hadn’t been able to guess where Everett was taking him, but when he saw it was the aquarium, he had accidentally squealed from how excited he was, happily flapping his hands until Everett picked him up and had him sit on his shoulders so he wouldn’t run off in his excitement, as he was known to do.
He was completely in awe of the exhibits they passed through. They spent nearly thirty minutes in front of the tank of moon jellies because he just couldn’t stop staring at them. He thought that was the best, at least, he did until they entered one room where they could actually touch things. Everett was hesitant to do so but he set him down in front of the low tank, and he had absolutely no issue with sticking his hand into the water, gasping when his fingers brushed over the back of a small passing stingray.
“E-Ev- Ev! It’s a, it’s like a, like a pancake!” He giggled excitedly. He snatched his hand out of the water, spreading his hands out as he said, “It’s uh, it’s uh, it’s smooth and flat, it’s like a- like a pancake!” He said, waving his hands excitedly.
“A pancake? Really?” Everett laughed, and he nodded, happy to stick his hands back into the water, a look of absolute glee on his face.
They spent a long time at the aquarium, simply because he felt the need to look at everything for a prolonged period of time. Everett didn’t seem to mind though, he let him take his time and on their way out they stopped in the gift shop. He wasn’t the kind of kid to ask for anything, he knew the answer was likely to be no, but he couldn’t stop staring at the shark plushies, and after a while of him looking between them and his brother, Everett said he’d buy it for him, since it was his birthday after all.
He took him out for lunch once they finally left, and then to a park so he could run around, holding onto his shark while he did so so it wouldn’t get dirty. And now, as the day was ending, he brought him to a small ice cream shop, an especially rare treat for him. He’d gone to get their ice cream, leaving him there alone but still in his line of sight. He perked up when he saw him coming back, he had a cup with large scoops of mint chocolate chip ice cream for him and one with strawberry ice cream for himself.
“Here you go, kid.” Everett said, setting it down in front of him as he took a seat across from him.
“Th-tha-thank you!” He said, grabbing the spoon and excitedly shoving a spoonful of ice cream into his mouth.
“Have you had a good day?” He asked him, taking a bite of his own ice cream while he happily nodded.
“Mmhm! I-I- I had- had fun!” He giggled softly. “I like- I liked the- the- the fish! And- and my shark! I love my- my- my shark!”
“Are you gonna name it?” He asked, and he looked to the shark, making a face as he thought it over.
“Mmmm… Ev.”
“Yeah?”
“N-No- no his name- his name is Ev.” He said, looking up at him. “Since Ev got him- got- got him for me, his name- his name is Ev.” He said, and Everett smiled at him.
“You’re a sweet kid, you know that?” He said, and he giggled, happily shoving more ice cream into his mouth.
By the time they finished he was bouncing in his seat, even more hyper from the sugar. Everett cleaned up after them, getting up and leaving the table for a moment. He watched his brother, on his way back he stopped somebody, asking them to take a quick picture of them together and explaining it was his birthday. When they agreed, he sat down next to him, pulling him into a hug, both of them flashing big grins as the stranger took a picture, commenting on how cute the pair of siblings were as they handed the phone back to Everett.
“Can I- can I- can I see?” He asked, getting up on his knees, and Everett showed him the phone, the photo of them together, he had a big grin on his face, one of his front teeth missing and his shark still in the background. “Oooohhh! I- I love- I love it!” He giggled, and Ev smiled, pulling him into a tight hug.
“Happy birthday, kid.” He told him, and he clung to him tightly, a big smile spread across his face.
After they left, Everett carried him home, having to carry his shark in one arm so he wouldn’t drop it. It was quite late in the day, and after spending so much time out and being so active, he was quickly growing sleepy, struggling to keep his eyes open as they got closer to his apartment. Once there Everett carried him back to their shared room, laying him down and handing him his shark, taking a moment to pull his shoes off for him.
“I’m glad you had fun.” Everett said, brushing wispy strands of brown hair back from his face.
“I- I- I had…” He paused to yawn, finishing with, “I had lots- lots of fun…” He murmured, curling up and cuddling his new shark close. He was asleep in only minutes, a content smile still on his face. Everett smiled as he looked down at him, so happy and so relieved he’d been able to do this for him.
***
“Can I open my eyes yet?”
“Not just yet, we’re almost there.” Zander told him, steering him by the shoulders. “And no peeking.” He told him, Eli snapping his good eye shut when he said it. They’d spent the day out together, Zander had taken him to the aquarium and listened to all his talking and rambling, and now they were finally returning to his apartment, but Zander was insistent that he kept his eyes shut. He heard him unlock the door and push it opened, tugging him inside by his wrist and only stopped in what Eli assumed was the dining room just off his living room.
“Alright- you can open your eyes now.” Zander told him, and he didn’t have to be told twice.
“Surprise!”
He nearly jumped back, startled but a grin quickly spread across his face at what he saw. Cara, Lila, Alec, even Alondra were there, crowded around his dining room table. They’d hung a happy birthday banner on the wall behind them, and gotten blue and white balloons for him, tying them to the chairs. They’d hung pale blue streamers from the ceiling, and on the table was takeout food from his favorite restaurant, and a cake with blue icing and number candles for “25”, and the words “Happy Birthday Elias”.
“Eli- shit, kid are you okay?” Zander asked, sounding worried as he brought his hands up to cover his mouth, blinking back tears.
“I’m- I’m fine, I’m fine, I’m sorry, I love it!” He laughed.
“Aww, Elias you can’t cry on your birthday!” Cara said, coming around the table and pulling him into a hug.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry, no I’m so happy! This is perfect, I love you guys!” He said, reaching up and wiping at his eyes. Cara pulled away so they could all take a seat at the table, Alec using a lighter to light the candles, the small group singing happy birthday for him while he tried to keep from crying again.
“Make a wish!” They told him and he blew out the candles, smiling as Zander ruffled his hair.
“What did you wish for?” He asked him, and Eli laughed.
“I’m not telling, I want it to come true.” He said. He gladly accepted a slice of cake when Alondra passed him a plate, looking excited.
“I hope you like it, they said this was your favorite.” She said, and he grinned when he saw the inside was layered vanilla cake, one layer white and one colored blue.
“You made this?” He asked, and she nodded as he took a bite, only for his eyes to widen. “Oh shit- this is amazing!” He covered his mouth to hide the grin on his face, looking up at her. “I love it! Thank you so much!” He said, and she grinned at him.
“I’m so glad!” She looked both happy and relieved at the same time, as though she’d really feared he wouldn’t.
It was easily one of the best nights he’d had in a while, surrounded by his friends as they ate and talked and laughed. Once they had all had their fill of food, they brought Eli into the living room, having him sit down on the couch in front of the coffee table, a few gifts placed in front of him that they insisted he opened.
Cara and Lila had gotten him matching pink and green squid shaped pillows, and Alec had gotten him a set of books he’d been collecting. Alondra had given him a homemade apron, made from jellyfish printed fabric and a set of blue baking spatulas with white polka dots, measurement conversions printed on the back, and Zander had gotten him an adorable cat shaped lamp, which would fade through different colors when it was one. He was so excited over each and every one of them, to the point of frantically flapping his hands as he thanked them, looking overjoyed.
“Oh, there’s one more thing.” Zander told him, going across the room to get something from the closet.
“We all picked this one out for you.” Cara told him, and Eli grinned as Zander brought back a rather large gift bag, filled with blue tissue paper. He had to pull quite a bit of it out to get to it, but his face lit up as he saw the item inside.
“Oh my god! I love it!” He cried, pulling out the large dolphin stuffed animal. It was absolutely adorable, he instantly hugged it close to his chest, already in love with how soft it was.
“We’re glad you like it.” Zander said, ruffling his hair. “Happy birthday, kid.” He said, sitting down and pulling him into a hug, only for the others to join in as best they could. It took all his self control to not burst into tears again, overwhelmed with happiness and love for his friends.
***
That night he laid in bed, Zander next to him as he had stayed the night. Zander had passed out after a few too many drinks but he was still awake, laying there and watching the pale light from his new little lamp change. He smiled, turning onto his side and cuddling both his shark and his new dolphin close to his chest, thinking over that year’s birthday wish.
I wish to be this happy all the time.

Let Them Eat Cake Part V
Hey guys! Sorry for the delay with this chapter, but this one is a long one so I hope that makes up for it!
Tonight on The Great British Bake Off…
“It’s all burned!”
“Oh my god, I forgot to put them in.”
“It’s all curdled. I don’t know what I’ll do.”
Remus woke up that morning with a bitter taste in his mouth. That was happening a lot lately. He got ready in a series of mechanic motions, showering, dressing, brushing his teeth. He met Lily outside the hotel, and she being the magical being that she was, had a coffee in a take-away cup ready for him.
“Hey,” She said softly. “You ready for today?”
Remus bit the inside of his cheek. “I suppose I’ll have to be.”
Six days earlier...
“Take a walk with me?” Sirius asked and Remus nodded his affirmations. As if he could say no. He followed Sirius out of the tent and they started strolling in the opposite direction of the hotel, avoiding the crowds of the bakers and crew packing up for the day.
“So you made it.” Sirius said after a moment or two of silence. Remus sneaked a peek at the other man out of the corner of his eye.
“Yeah,” He said scratching the back of his neck. “If I had gone home I’m not sure if I ever would have been able to eat chocolate again, and that would be a big problem since I think it’s my main food group.”
Sirius burst out laughing and Remus blushed a little, pleased. They were well out of ear shot of anyone else, almost out of sight too. There was a massive oak tree in the middle of an open field and Sirius stepped onto the grass grinning.
“C’mere, I found a cool spot.”
Remus bit down a smile as he followed him, taking a breath in when they rounded the wide trunk and found a wide swing hanging from a branch, the trunk of the tree completely shielding them from view.
“This is amazing.” Remus said, reaching out to touch the rope, running his fingers over the wooden planks forming a seat. “When did you find this place?”
Sirius shrugged and sat on one side of it, the swing tilting ever so slightly with the imbalance. “Some time in the first few days.” He patted the space still left open, “You gonna sit?”
“Who else knows about it?” Remus asked, rounding the swing.
“As far as I know… just me. And now you.”
Remus sat and the ropes evened out again. Remus rocked back and forth on his toes a little, the swing swaying soothingly with him.
“It’s brilliant, I love it.”
Sirius smiled. “Yeah, I thought you would.”
Today...
“Guys! Hang on!” Remus heard but before he had even turned around, someone crashed into him.
“Woah!” He exclaimed, stumbling a little because suddenly he had a bubbly pink haired woman on his back.
“Hi Tonks.” He said laughing, when he had recovered his footing. Tonks wrapped her legs tightly around his waist.
“Don’t let the cardigans fool you,” She said to Lily seriously, “He’s deceptively strong.”
Lily smiled, Peter falling in line with them. “I can see that.”
“Ooh! Bake Off love!” Marlene exclaimed, snapping a couple of pictures of them all together, Tonks still on Remus’ back. “These will be great on Instagram.”
“Oh great, now there’s gonna be theories of us dating.” Remus said dryly,  even though he smiled a little. “What do you think our ship name will be?”
“Ronks.” Lily snorted and no one could stop themselves from laughing at it.
“Is it bad that I kinda like it?” Tonks said, still giggling. “Like it’s ridiculous but that's why you’ve gotta love it.”
Remus nodded and bumped their hips together playfully. “It’s a perfect fit for a perfect couple.” He teased, then ignored the slight pang in his chest, even at his own words.
“Wait, you guys are dating?” Peter asked, completely bewildered and Remus shot him an incredulous look.
“Of course we’re not, we’re just joking Pete.”
Tonks gasped, her hand covering her chest. “Are you saying you wouldn’t want to be with me?”
“Of course not my love, we would be spectacular.”
“You can see why I’d get confused,” Peter mumbled to Lily.
“But,” Remus continued, drawing out the word before quickly spitting out the next sentence as he laughed a little. “I’m much to gay for that.”
“Here, here!” Tonks cried and they joked all the way down to the set. “Semi finals next week, I can’t believe we’re here already.”
“Oh my god I’m so not ready to think about that yet.” Lily chimed in, Remus and Peter nodding their agreements.
Remus felt his shoulders tense as they entered the tent, but after a quick glance around, he realised Sirius wasn’t there. He probably shouldn’t be so relieved, he would have to see him eventually so really Remus was just prolonging the inevitable but you can’t blame a guy for wanting to avoid an awkward situation. He stood at his station, but turned around so he was leaning on Lily’s counter as they chatted. He stayed that way until the producers started yelling for everyone to get ready and he turned around. At some point Sirius had come into the room. Remus didn’t meet his gaze.
“Welcome back! This week on The Great British Bake Off… It’s pudding week!”
“For our signature challenge,” Sirius continued, “Our judges have asked that you make a bread and butter pudding.”
“Sounds simple right?.” James grinned. “The catch is, you have to make it with bread you bake yourself.”
“Your time starts now, ready?”
“Set.”
“Bake!”
Remus looked away from the head of the tent as quickly as he could, ready to have an excuse to not look at Sirius. Especially Sirius in a leather jacket. He gathered his ingredients and set to work. Bread and butter pudding. That he could do.
Six days earlier...
“So,” Remus said as he swayed them back and forth. “Here we are.”
Sirius smiled. “Here we are.”
Remus bit his lip for a moment trying to figure out what the hell he was supposed to say. So, you like my mouth? You wanted to talk? Do you think about me the same way I think about you?
Instead he blurted out; “What’s your favourite cake?”
Sirius blink then looked at him with this startled but pleased smile. Like he was surprised by the question, but also like he had known Remus’ words before Remus even spoke them.
“Lemon meringue pie.”
“That’s not a cake.”
“But it’s still my favourite.”
Remus pursed his lips to hide his smile. “That's… sweeter than you usually like.”
Sirius’ small smile grew. “Correct as always. It’s less to do with taste and more to do with memories I guess.”
Remus tilted his head. “Yeah? What memories?”
Sirius laughed a little. “Inquisitive today aren’t we?”
Remus raised an eyebrow. His signature move. “Is there anything else you’d like to talk about?” He asked pointedly.
Sirius looked at him knowingly for a moment, but then shook his head minutely. “James’ mum used to make it every Sunday. She even taught me how, after I’d badger her to make more.”
Remus grinned. “She sounds great.”
“Sirius relaxed a bit, leaning back against the rope and tucking on foot under his knee. If Remus did it, he would have looked ridiculous and would most likely have fallen right off the swing and flat on his face on the ground. But when Sirius did it, the movement retained all the airs Sirius brought to the world, carefree, casual. elegant.
“So, how do you feel after this week?”
Remus groaned. “Can we not talk about Bake Off? I mean I love it and all but I need a break.”
Sirius chuckled. “That’s fair. I suppose I could use one too.”
“Yeah? What’re you gonna do?” Remus asked and it wasn’t until he said it that he realised it sounded almost flirty.
Surprise flickered in Sirius’ grey eyes and his gaze flickered from Remus’ own amber eyes to his lips. Remus tilted his head ever so slightly, tongue wetting his lips a little as his breath hitched and they were both leaning in, closer and closer until-
“-Remus.” Sirius said voice low, jaw clenching even as his eyes stayed trained on Remus’ lips. “We shouldn’t.”
Remus frowned, the spell breaking a little. “What? I don’t understand.”
“We work together.” Sirius said, sitting back once again and turning his head away. “It would be frowned upon.”
Remus looked at him in disbelief. “Who says anyone has to know?”
Sirius tugged on the tie in his hair and the dark waves tumbled down to his shoulders before he ran his fingers through it. “You’re looking strong for winning this thing. I don’t want anyone doubting your integrity.”
Remus shook his head in pure and utter confusion. “But Sirius, you’re not a judge. I don’t think it would even be possible for you to ruin my integrity.”
Sirius just shook his head silently. Throat tight, Remus stood up and took a few steps away. He looked back at Sirius and paused.
“What about everything you said? Sirius, I know you were flirting with me. And just forty minutes ago you asked me to come here with you. What happened?”
“I remembered.” Sirius said hollowly.
“Remember what?”
But Sirius didn’t answer. Remus waited, but the other man just stood up and walked away. Remus sat back down for a moment and put his head in his hands. How did he get here? This morning he felt sure. Now he felt… well he didn’t know what he felt.
He hung back to give Sirius a head start so there would be no chance of them running into each other. Then Remus stood up and walked back to the hotel. Alone.
TODAY…
“Fucking fuck fuckeroo I’ve fucking burned my freaking bread. Fuck!” Remus said as he pulled the slightly overdone loaf from the oven.
“Hey Remus, want to try again, but like… viewer friendly this time?” Marlene called.
Remus flipped her off but then gave her a thumbs up and went again.
“Oh no! I’ve burned the bread!” He cried and Marlene rolled her eyes.
“Remus Lupin I’m going to have you fired.”
“Love you too!” He said with a wink before turning back to figure out what the hell he was going to try to do.
“You’re awful.” Lily said to him as she took her own loaves out of the oven.
Remus shot her a wink too. “I know.”
In the end, Remus cut off all the crusts of his bread, knowing that it might slightly impede the structural integrity but at the same time… It was a pudding. They barely have any structure in the first place.
He whipped up his cream and added in some saffron, nutmeg and sugar then began making layers upon layers of bread and cream. He left out any raisins both because he hated them and he knew Dumbledore had a particular aversion to them and well he was willing to do anything to win a little bit of favour. He covered it all with another thick layer of cream, sprinkling the top with extra nutmeg and cinnamon.
He popped it into the oven and set his timer before asking Lily to keep an eye on his station for a moment just in case while he nipped off to the loo.
As soon as he stepped out of the tent they filmed in, he was hit with a wave of cool air and he breathed in gratefully - having several ovens in one space always led to quite a hot temperature in the tent. He splashed some water on his face in the bathroom and rolled back his shoulders. He didn’t know why he felt so… off. Okay he did, and that reason was the notorious Sirius Black, but Remus had decided from the very first day that he wouldn’t let anything get in the way of his baking. And here he was doing exactly that. He squared his shoulders and met his own eyes in the mirror.
“Get a grip.” He told himself and went back to the tent.
Apparently his little pep talk had absolutely no effect, because after burning his bread, he topped off the baking experience by burning the pudding too. It was beginning to look like another stellar baking week for Remus.
“It’s a bit dark.” McGonagall commented as she dolled out a serving for both herself and Dumbledore.
‘Yeah no shit’ Remus wanted to say. Instead he just nodded his head.
“Even with the cream, the bread is a little dry.” Dumbledore said after taking a bite. Remus clenched his jaw, frustrated with himself. “And it’s a little bitter from being in the oven a nit too long. Overall, not your best work Mr Lupin.”
Remus sat down once more and found himself taking a shaky breath. That was definitely not how he wanted to start this week. He comforted himself by saying that he’d do much better in the other challenges. Nearly everybody else did quite well. The only person worse than Remus was Peter who had somehow, by laws unknown to Remus and possibly to science had managed to have quite a liquid consistency.
Remus went to lunch a little put-out but chatting with everyone never failed to cheer him up almost instantly.
“They could have drank it with a straw!” Peter moaned, dropping his forehead onto the table. “I don’t even know how! The cream was whipped so well before it all went in the oven!”
“Hard luck mate.” James said, patting Peter on the shoulder as he slid into a seat next to Lily. Remus didn’t miss the way they leaned slightly towards each other. He wondered if their story would end better than his and Sirius’. Even Kingsley had joined them, making Sirius’ absence more stark.
“What’s Twitter up to this week?” Tonks asked, peering over Remus’ shoulder as he pulled the page up.
“Um, let’s see,” Remus typed in the bake off tag and watched as all the posts rolled up. “They’re still weak for your hair Tonks,” He said and Tonks flicked her hair dramatically in response. “Oh my god there’s a twitter war.”
“Wait what?” Tonks asked, leaning in closer as everyone else gathered around.
“From the picture of you and me this morning. There’s people shipping you and me versus people shipping me and Sirius.”
“Oh my god, that is comedy gold.” Peter said, oblivious. Remus didn’t know what Sirius had told James, but he suspected SOMETHING from the careful way James controlled his face.
“I’m just gonna see where Sirius is.” James said as he stood up. “I don’t know what’s taking him so long.”
The pair didn’t return for lunch, the next everyone saw of them was when shooting recommenced. Remus had given himself a mental pep talk as he walked back to his station, consisting purely of ‘Come on Lupin, don’t fuck this up, you can do it’.
“You ready?” Lily queried as the microphones were put into position.
“Ready as I’ll ever be, you?”
“About the same I’d say.”
“Okay and we’re recording in three, two and one.” Marlene said, pointing her finger towards James and Sirius to indicate that they were rolling.
“Our bakers just faced their signature challenge and while they might not have liked it, I must say, it was my bread and butter!” James opened and Remus covered his mouth with his hand because he refused to have the entire nation know he was even mildly amused by that terrible pun, but Remus really was a sucker for them.
Sirius rolled his eyes playfully. “Oh my god Jamie, that’s bad even for you.”
“I thought that was excellent, thank you very much.”
“I’m choosing to ignore you now.” Sirius bantered. “For our technical challenge, our judges would like you to make six individual sticky toffee puddings, judges, have you got anything to say?”
“Be mindful of your vanilla.” Dumbledore warned and Remus bit the inside of his cheek to stop himself from laughing at the ‘advice’. It was always so vague, they might not bother saying anything at all.
“Alright judges, out you go,” James said ushering the pair out the door.. Sirius faced the bakers and grinned.
“On your marks,”
“Get set,”
“Bake!”
Remus turned around to Lily. “Be mindful of your vanilla.” He said in a very serious turn. Lily threw the cloth covering her ingredients at him. All was well.
James swung by Remus’ station a little while later. “How’s it going?”
Remus was just finishing cutting out little circles of parchment paper to line the bottom of the little pots he would bake the puddings in. He had already liberally greased the edges with butter and he just needed to pop the parchment circles in.
“Alright, I haven’t actually done any baking yet.” Remus said laughing. James grabbed the leftover scrap of paper and attempted to make some kind of crown out of it.
“Here ye, here ye!” Remus joked, noticing half the cameras in the room training on them.
“I think I should be king of the bake off Remus, what do you think?”
Remus nodded along solemnly/ “Oh yes of course James, your baking skills are incredible.”
“I can bake!” James protested.
“Sure, sure,” Remus teased, beginning to measure ingredients. “But if you’re the king of bake off, who will make all the terrible puns.”
James covered his heart with his hand. “You wound me Remus, truly.”
Remus chucked a date at his head, but James just opened his mouth and caught it.”
Remus burst out laughing. “Okay that was good, you can be the king of bake off now.”
“Why thank you.” James said before heading off to chat to Lily next, still wearing his paper crown.
Remus turned back to his baking and began mixing ingredients together. He was careful to split the vanilla pod and scrape the seeds into the mix. In the end he was pretty happy with his batter, and poured it carefully into his pots, being careful not to pass the three quarter mark as they would rise in the oven and he didn’t want to have them spill over the edge.
He popped them in the oven and began to start work on the toffee, measuring ingredients as he let the pot heat up. He tossed in the butter and sugar and stirred a little before making a cup of tea. He came back to his toffee-to-be a few minutes later to see he had left it unattended too long and it had all crystallised.
“Fuck!” He said, emptying the contents onto a plate and quickly starting again.
“Oof, they crystallised?” Lily asked, on her tiptoes peering over at Remus’ work.
“Yup. I have just enough time to go again though.”
This time, the devil himself wouldn’t be able to lure Remus away from his bot.
‘A watched pot never boils,’ He thought. “Yeah well a watched pot never burns either.” He muttered, aware that he would probably come across as mildly insane but fuck it.
“Are you talking to yourself?” A lovely lilting voice asked and Remus froze for a moment before continuing to stir.
“Yes.”
“Why?” Sirius asked
“Because I’m an excellent conversationalist.”
Remus knew Sirius would be smiling even if he couldn’t see him. He slowly added the cream into his pot, folding it all in nicely.
“Well I can’t refute that statement.” Sirius agreed and Remus almost wanted to tell him to fuck off because even now Sirius was so lovely and Remus wanted to turn and see his smile, except he knew it wouldn’t be the same. It would be purely for the camera and there would be no little sly glances or secret winks and that gorgeous sparkle in his eye would be gone.
Or was it ever even there in the first place?
Remus took the pot off the heat and let it sit for a moment as he took the puddings out of the oven. He set them all on a cooling rack and turned to start taking them out of the pots when he spotted six identical little parchment paper circles sitting on the counter.
“Oh fuck.” He whispered. He never actually put them in the pots. “Oh Christ. Oh for fucks sake.” He said running his fingers through his hair.
“What’s wrong?” Lily asked, coming over to him and resting her hand on his shoulder.
“I never put the parchment paper in, they’re going to stick to the pot and be ruined.”
“You greased it though didn’t you? That’ll help a lot, there’s still hope yet.” She leaned in close again and whispered, “And if they go to hell you can bump into Peter when we’re putting them on the table and pretend he knocked them over again.”
Remus chuckled and gave her a quick hug. “Thank you, now go away because we don’t need yours ruined too.”
“They’re not ruined!” Lily yelled back at him and Remus smiled as he dug through his cutlery drawer to find the thinnest knife that he could. Biting his lip in concentration he carefully ran the knife along the inside of the pot to loosen the sides, then he flipped it over quickly and gently eased the pudding out. There was a little bit of the tip missing but - it could easily be covered with the toffee so all in all, Remus was actually quite happy.
“One down, five to go!” He called to Lilly but also for the benighted of Marlene who was hovering nearby, cameras trained on what Remus was doing.
The second one came out quite well two and Remus was beginning to feel a spark of hope when the third one completely split in half - the top still in the pot.
“Oh shittttttt.” Remus sang to himself, trying not to worry too much. He just kept going, he could assemble that one later. The following three had the exact same result. Marlene was hovering around him, capturing the tension. Remus looked up and stared right into the lens as if he were on The Office and said “I jinxed myself.”
He managed to coax the top halves out of their containers and gently put them back together again. He drizzled a liberal amount of toffee over the tops before having a moment of inspiration. He grabbed the abandoned crystallised toffee and used it to decorate the tops of the puddings before transferring them all to the rectangular plate he’d be presenting them on, adding a little bit of toffee to the plate to help regain any visual aestheticism.
“Alright bakers!” Sirius called, “Your time is up. Please walk your cakes up to the table at the front of the tent.”
Lily walked up next to Remus and mimed ‘accidentally’ bumping into Peter and Remus snorted as he set his plate down behind his picture.
“You’re insane,” He whispered to her as they sat down on their stools.
“You love me though.” She quipped back and Remus grinned at her before the judges came out.
“Hello again bakers!” Dumbledore greeted. They chorused back a hello and then the judges set to work. The judges actually cringed when they bit into Peter’s dish and on the other side of Remus, Peter was quivering a little.
“Our tip to be mindful with the vanilla went unnoticed with this one it would seem.” McGonagall commented and Remus had to stop himself from looking at Peter to figure out what the hell he did.
“It would appear this person included their vanilla pod.” Dumbledore said, trying to hide his cringe. “For future reference, it’s the seeds inside the pod you eat, not the outside layer.”
Remus knew Peter’s face was bright red without even looking at him, but he didn’t glance to the side for fear of giving away who had actually made the cakes.
Remus’ were up next, McGonagall looking at them cynically. “The presentation is quite lacking I must admit.”
“Yes, they’re a bit messy,” Dumbledore agreed as he cut into one. They each took a bite, nodding solemnly for a moment. “They certainly taste good though.”
McGonagall nodded in agreement and just like that they had moved on to the next person’s work. Remus let out a deep sigh. It wasn’t how he had wanted it to go but… at least they had tasted good. He was still annoyed at himself for forgetting the parchment paper but he had to let it go now.
The  judges were quick to decide this week. With only five contestants left and a tangible need to make it to the semi finals next week, there was a buzz in the air, at least it felt that way to Remus.
Or, it did feel that way until he came second last in the technical and suddenly he was seriously beginning to fear that this time next week, he’d be at home.
Peter came last. Tonks won; Kingsley and Lily filling in the middle spots.
Remus headed back to the hotel, talking quietly to Lily but really just planning his strategy for tomorrow. Considering his recipe. Mentally changing the flavours, then switching them back. The order he would make everything. If he should just head straight to the practice tent and make it one more time.
Lily wrapped her arm around his waist and leaned her head against him. Remus used to always look at people walking like this and think it must be so incredibly awkward, but this felt natural.
“It’s better to rest now then practice some more. You’re ready.” She said as if she could read his mind. Maybe after five weeks of being together every day, she could.
He smiled and placed a kiss to the top of her head, loving their friendship. “Thanks Lils.”
She peered up at him, those eyes vibrantly green, hidden slightly under her eyelashes. “Wanna make hot chocolate?”
Remus grinned as he put his arm over her shoulders and gave her a grateful squeeze. “That sounds like heaven.”
The next day began with the sunlight filtering slowly through the open windows as Remus got dressed. It was late enough in the year now that he woke up in darkness, but he always liked getting to watch the sun rise so it didn’t bother him. The air was crisp outside when he walked down with Lily and it felt like a new beginning.
“Let’s do this.” Lily said, holding out her fist as they entered the tent and Remus looked at her in mild amusement, but bumped his knuckles against hers lightly.
They set up their stations quietly, not having much to do, Remus just liked it organised slightly differently to the way the cleaning crew left it. Everyone seeped in quietly, the tension from yesterday lingering.
Marlene announced their start and suddenly they were off, James and Sirius bantering away with a familiar chemistry rarely found between two presenters.
“Welcome back for the showstopper challenge!” James greeted, Sirius grinning at his side. “Today our judges have asked you to reimagine a dish as a trifle.”
Remus remembered the first time he had heard that and thought it was a little weird, but he liked it. Back then he had planned to have a ‘death by chocolate’ theme but he changed his recipe last week. Lily was making a carrot cake creation that looked amazing. Tonks was wowing with a baked Alaska inspired dish. Peter had embraced chocolate chip cookies and they were featuring heavily in his. Kingsley was doing something with a lot of apples but Remus didn’t know many of the specifics. Kingsley wasn’t secretive, but he wasn’t majorly talkative either.
“You know Sirius, I once fought with a man over his multi layered cake,” James was saying vibrantly.
“Is that so?”
“Indeed. However I soon learned he was not to be trifled with.”
The light went out of Sirius’ eyes. “You’re fired.” He said to James in a deadpan voice and the entire tent burst into giggles.
Sirius sighed and turned to everyone. “On your marks, get set, bake!”
“Hey! We’re supposed to say that together!”
“Yeah well I fired you so it’s mine now.”
Remus couldn’t stop himself from chuckling as he set to work. Was he unsure of what was happening between himself and Sirius? Yes. Did he still have feelings for the man? Undoubtedly.
He immediately set to work making the meringues, those were gonna be hard to get done in time - they took two hours in the oven and then they had to cool down completely before Remus could do anything with them. He whipped the egg whites and sugar on high speed, until there were ‘stiff peaks’, the mixture was lovely and shiny and Remus felt like he was spooning marshmallow into his piping bag.
He made three circles of meringue, all the same size as his trifle dish along with a few little meringue kisses to decorate the top. He popped the trays into the preheated oven and set to work preparing everything else. He turned around to grab a tea towel and his elbow hit a glass bowl on the counter and it fell to the ground, shattering and leaving sparkling shards all over Remus’ station.
“Crap okay, can I get a brush over here please?”
A crew member helped him sweep it up as quickly as possible so he could get back to work. James sidled up to his counter as he started making a lemon curd, a suspicious grin on his face.
“I see you’re having a smashing time.”
Remus looked up from adding the grated lemon rind. “I thought you were fired.”
James just laughed and ruffled Remus’ hair in a way that if anyone else had done it, it would have annoyed Remus, but it was okay from James.
“I’ll let you get back to work.” And then he was off and Remus could once again focus. He looked down into his pot and nearly started to cry. It had curdled.
He stepped away for a moment, covering his face with his hands as he took a deep breath. It would be okay, he had time to make more. It just seemed like ever since Sirius had walked away a week ago, nothing had gone quite right.
On Monday, the restaurant made a mistake and gave Remus normal pasta, resulting in him being very sick for a while. On Tuesday, a pair of shoes he had long since worn in gave him blisters. Wednesday had him spilling tea all over his special edition book. Thursday he ripped a hole in his favourite cardigan and Friday Sirius walked into a room, saw Remus and immediately left. Saturday had been the signature and technical challenge and now he was here.
He jolted when a hand gingerly reached out and touched his shoulder. Light as a feather at first, barely the brush of fingertips but then the palm of the hand pressed reassuringly into Remus’ skin.
“Re?” Sirius asked. Remus heart soared and shattered at the same time. How was that even possible?
“I’m fine it’s just a lot today I think.”
“Do you want to step outside for a few?”
Remus shook his head as he turned to face Sirius. “No it’s okay, thanks. I don’t have enough time.”
Sirius’ eyes were conflicted for a moment but the next thing Remus knew, he was being pulled down into a tight hug.
“Sorry,” Sirius mumbled, “I should have asked first, it’s just you looked so upset and-”
“It’s okay.” Remus whispered, his mouth by Sirius’ ear.
He pulled away reluctantly, wanting to stay in the comfort of Sirius’ arms longer but very aware of all the cameras trained on them.
“Thanks,” He mumbled to Sirius, his face flushed. “I should get back to it.”
Sirius nodded and Remus went back to work, the presenter heading off to chat to someone else. Taking another breath, Remus began grating another lemon. It was time to start again.
Assembling the trifle was possibly Remus’ favourite showstopper to put together so far, just because of how simple it was. He placed a meringue disk at the bottom, followed by lemon curd, then repeated it twice, until his top layer was a bright yellow substance. He grinned looking inside the glass dish - he was really glad he chose to pipe the curd in, it made the lines much cleaner.
He placed the meringue kisses on top, then grated chocolate over everything and he finished just as James called time.
Remus watched the judges fall in love with Tonks’ amazing baked Alaska and beamed at the praise for his friend. Lily did very well too. Kingsley had a few problems but overall he seemed quite happy with his baking. Peter’s was only marginally better. And then it was Remus.
He walked up to the table at the front of the room, suddenly very aware of Sirius standing with James to the side of the judges.
“Remind us of what this is inspired by Mr Lupin?” Dumbledore asked as he and McGonagall took in the trifle.
“Lemon meringue.” Remus said, his chest tight.
Sirius’ looked up sharply, meeting his eyes. Remus nodded minutely.
They each took a helpful and took a moment considering the flavours.
“I’m impressed, Mr Lupin.” Dumbledore said. “I was worried the curd would be too wet and dissolve the meringue.”
McGonagall nodded. “Were you not worried that this might be a little simple for a showstopper?”
Remus shook his head. “A classic is a classic for a reason.”
McGonagall graced him with a very rare smile and for the first time this week, Remus felt like he had done something right.
They all sat on the stools a little while later, waiting and waiting and waiting while the judges took the longest time to decide yet this series. Remus knew it was down to Peter and himself. One of them was going home today. Remus just didn’t know who.
Peter had done a little worse than Remus yesterday, but had recovered a lot today. Remus knew he himself had also gained some ground, he just didn’t know if it was enough. He hoped it was. He feared it wasn’t.
James and Sirius emerged first, the judges next, none of their faces giving anything away.
“Today I have the pleasure of announcing star baker.” James said smiling, “For the second week in a row… Tonks!”
Remus grinned and kissed Tonks on the cheek as she was sitting right next to him. Both because he was proud of her but also to mess with Twitter a little bit.
“Sadly, I have the awful job of announcing who’s going home today.” Sirius said, nothing about him giving anything away. Remus’ heart pounded, he could feel his heartbeat in his fingertips. “This person has been a pleasure to work with and we’ll all be very sad to see them leave.”
Remus found breathing a little difficult. Would Sirius just hurry up and say it?
“Leaving us today will be… Peter.”
Down the line a little, Peter’s shoulders slumped and while Remus was disappointed for him, all he could feel was the adrenaline surge now that all the tension had melted away from his body. They all lingered in the tent for a while, congratulating Tonks and giving Peter their commiserations.
McGonagall came up to Remus at one point and spoke to him quietly. “Not your best week Mr Lupin.”
Remus shook his head. “No.”
McGonagall met his eyes. “You have amazing potential. I’ve seen you do great things, I hope I get to see them again.” She said before slinking back into the crowd. Remus blinked. It was possibly the most reassuring thing he had ever heard about his baking. He wanted to write her words down so he could keep them forever.
He was staying a little while longer.
Remus went straight to his room when he got back to the hotel, skipping the usual gathering they had after finishing filming that week as he was just exhausted after his day. He threw his clothes over the back of a chair in his room to be put away tomorrow and threw on a pair of sweatpants and a hoodie, a thick pair of socks on his feet. He turned off the over head light, flicking on his lamp instead and just about to crawl into bed with his book when he heard the faintest knock on his door.
He frowned, a little wondering who it could be. Lily? No, she would be downstairs talking to James. Not Tonks, her knock was loud and vibrant. Peter was packing-
Remus opened the door and there stood Sirius, who’d also changed into cosier clothes, looking almost lost in the depths of his massive jumper. For the first time since Remus had known him, Sirius looked unsure.
“Can I come in?” He asked softly. Remus bit his lip for a moment before nodding and stepping inside.
Sirius gazed around his room for a moment, snorting at the clothes thrown haphazardly over the chair.
“You didn’t strike me as messy.” He mused.
Remus blushed. “I’m not, I'm just tired.”
Sirius turned around. “I can go?”
“No it’s alright.” Remus had a feeling that if Sirius didn’t say why he came here now, it would be forever forgotten.
Sirius looked at the ground, scuffing his socked toes on the carpet. “Have you ever read about people I date in the tabloids?”
Remus frowned and quickly ran what information about Sirius he knew through his mind. “No? At least, I don’t think so.”
Sirius smiled ruefully. “That’s because I haven’t dated anyone in a long time. Ever really.”
Remus felt his lips part slightly. “Ever?”
Sirius rolled his eyes. “I mean a little in school but I don’t know if it really counted.” He kept looking at the floor. “I mean, I have flings or whatever but I don’t date. At first I was too preoccupied with building a life away from my family. Then I was so busy, focusing on my career. Then,” His voice grew soft like he was a little embarrassed, “It had been so long I was afraid. I forget sometimes, when I’m with you. But then that day, I remembered.”
Remus didn’t have to ask what day. I remembered. Sirius had said it then too.
And it was so dumb of me but I was afraid of having you.” Sirius finally looked up at Remus. Grey met amber and all was right. “But then today I worried for a moment that I was going to lose you.”
Remus laughed a little wetly. “You make that sound like I nearly died or something.”
“Shut up I’m trying to be romantic!” Sirius protested, but his cheeks were flushed.
“Sorry.” Remus said, but he was smiling faintly. He reached out and brushed Sirius’ fingers with his and Sirius caught his hand and held it.
“But I realised I’m afraid of being with you, but I guess I’m going to have to get used to it, because I’m terrified of being without you.”
Remus swallowed, wetting his lips. “What… Are you.. Wait?”
Sirius nodded. “Yeah.”
A little smile danced on Remus’ lips as he took a step closer and lowered his face down so he could nudge Sirius’ nose with his own. “I guess we can be a little scared together then.”
Sirius’ eyes lit up and Remus was about to kiss him but before he could move, Sirius had surged up and pressed his lips to Remus’.
Remus melted into it, wrapping one arm around Sirius’ waist, the other removing the hair tie from Sirius’ bun to be tossed somewhere that would probably never be found so he could finally tangle his fingers in the inky black strands like he had dreamed about doing so many times.
Sirius kisses were just like his personality. Confident, purposeful, Remus thought as Sirius nipped his bottom lip and Remus opened his mouth for him. Strong. At some point, Remus backed into the bed, his knees giving out so he sat on the edge while Sirius just straddled him, never even breaking away.  The pace was new and thrilling to Remus. A sweet caress of the tongue could lead quickly to a desperate clash of teeth and back again in just a moment.
“You made lemon meringue.” Sirius murmured against hips lips. Remus grinned and nodded.
“It’s your favourite.”
Sirius pulled away first, his chest heaving and his lips red and swollen, shining from Remus; own saliva. That thought alone had Remus chasing his lips for another taste. Sirius smirked but kissed him sweetly for a minute before pulling away and resting his forehead on Remus’ shoulder. Remus could just see those eyes he loved so much peeking up at him from under his ridiculously long eyelashes.
“So you and me?” Sirius asked. “We’re dating? I didn’t make that up, right?”
Remus beamed and shook his head. “You didn’t make it up.”
“Is it too early to ask to be exclusive? I really have no idea how this works.” Sirius laughed, pressing his face into Remus’ chest. Remus bent so he could nip the curve of his ear gently.
“No,” He murmured, “Well I don’t know how it goes that well either. But it doesn’t feel too early, does it?”
Sirius shook his head before lifting it and coming back to Remus’ level again. “You’re mine.” He breathed, eyes sparkling. He pulled Remus’ bottom lip between his teeth and sucked on it gently. “I must be the luckiest person on the planet.”
Remus kissed him softly, pulling him against his chest. “I think that title is reserved for me.”
Sirius hit his shoulder playfully. “Sap.”
“Hey! You started it!”
Sirius giggled and kissed him again, tugging on Remus’ hair a little before pulling away.
“I want you.” He whispered, “But I’m tired as hell. Wanna, I don’t know, cuddle and shit?”
Remus smirked, patting Sirius’ thigh lightly so they could climb under the covers.
“Yeah,” He agreed as he pulled Sirius against his chest once more, tangling their legs together. “Let’s cuddle and shit.”
They fell asleep like that, a jumble of limbs tucked under the warm covers, fitting together like they had been made for each other. Remus had one of the best night’s sleep of his life, even missing the sun rising in the morning.
(But somehow, he didn’t mind).

DECEMBER, 2022.
YN was no stranger to a positive pregnancy test.
If you told her six years ago that she’d be a mother to a little girl the following year, who was the spitting image of her father, then she’d have told you that you were taking the piss and that they were dreaming all kinds of madness. So, if you told her three days ago that she’d be a mother to a second baby, she’d have laughed in your face and told you to jog on because “one’s enough for me right now.”
Of course, she’d grown up wanting more than one child to teach life skills and nurture and mould into such a beautiful young thing who cared and loved like there was no such thing as tomorrow. She’d been an only child herself and found life to be rather… different. Especially to her friends in school who were children of many in their families. Of course, YN had cousins and she saw them whenever she wanted (moreso on festive holidays and family birthdays rather than her parents appearing on their doorstep for a cup of tea and an offer for the kids to play in the garden until dark) but it never amounted to the same feeling as seeing a sibling on a daily basis, after school or in the morning, someone to wind up and irritate out of love but someone to trust when something came up that she didn’t want her parents knowing.
So when Persephone was born, freshly cleaned and m minutes old and laying her father’s arms in the most pinkest blanket found in her hospital bag, YN deemed it necessary to silently promise to never let her experience a childhood alone. Not that she thought it was a bad thing to be an only child; heck, she was thankful she never had the bickering brother to deal with that only fought for those he loved or the snotty older sister who told her what to do and not to do with her life but loved her all the same. She felt envious of Harry when she was introduced to his older sister but soon felt that Gemma was an older sister of her own flesh and blood with how welcoming she’d been and seeing the brother-sister bond that Harry had, she found it was only necessary to let her own child have that exciting life growing up.
“You’re not eating much this morning,” Harry said softly, inhaling the smell of honey porridge before wrapping his lips around the spoon in his hand and swallowing the thick textured substance. Eyes focused on his wife as sat in her own world, stirring her tea in her china mug, an ashen look on her face - because morning sickness had been a bigger bitch to her the second time than the first time and she wasn’t expecting it to be as bad- as she hid behind a smile. “Are you feeling okay?”
“Yeah, I think I’m a little stressed out. I have too much to do this coming week and too little time to do it and I feel so rushed,” she murmured, setting her teaspoon upon the plate that did hold her dry toast before Harry came and joined her for breakfast, fingers curling around the handle of her mug. “I might have to cancel lunch with your mum this afternoon. I need to start wrapping, decorating, planning Christmas day, getting the food in.”
“You’re looking a little sick, I’m sure she won’t mind if you want to cancel.”
“She was so excited though.”
“She’d feel even better if you took some time out for yourself and felt better. Besides, she’s coming next week with Gem and Michal for Christmas dinner so she’s got that to look forward to,” Harry said, plunging his spoon into his porridge before taking another bite and swallowing it, honey sticking to his pink lips, “what can I do to make you feel less stressed? Give me something to do.”
“You could go and pick Seff’s main present up from that toy shop on Oxford Street for me. I got an email saying it arrived yesterday morning so we just need to go and get it. I can wrap the last of her presents up whilst you’re gone and hide yours somewhere where you don’t go snooping,” she stated, cocking an eyebrow up on her browline and staring at him over the rim of her white mug, “like you did last year.”
“In my defence, you did ask me to go and get a pair of knickers from your drawer after your bath.”
Harry had always been one to go snooping when it came to gifts. Anne had told her that the first Christmas she spent with Harry during a conversation that spiked up when YN pulled Anne aside to ask her for tips on what to get him, whether he'd asked for anything specific and whether he was allergic to anything specific that would give her gift idea away if she asked him. And it stuck in the back of her mind every year.
Although, in his defense, he didn’t necessarily go snooping through her underwear drawer to find what she had brought for him, given the fact that she had a brainfart and had forgotten where she hid his most expensive gift for that year; a six-hundred pound watch that she’d seen him eyeing up in the shop window of Gucci every time they wandered passed. She knew he’d reach into the drawer, grab his favourite pair (that she always placed at the front of her pants) and chuck them into the bathroom with a joke that hinted to a little bedroom action when Persephone was in bed.
“You didn’t have to get a pair from the back end of my drawer. Since when do you reach for my period pants when I put all my nice, lacy ones at the front?” She huffed, rolling her eyes as she took a sip of the warm tea and felt it slide down her sore throat, goosebumps rising on her skin because there was a sense of warmth yet a sense of burning; acid reflux had become a bitch, too, and she was looking forward to sending him to the supermarket pharmacy, late at night, to grab a bottle of Gaviscon and heartburn tablets. “Plus, it was in a box with my name on it, sellotaped up on both ends, and put left in the box it came in. You had to open the box to find out what was inside the other box.”
“It fell out?” He shrugged sheepishly and sent her a cheeky smile. Tight-lipped, regardless of how sticky his lips were, and showing off his dimples in the middle of his cheeks. But YN was having none of it and she made sure her face told him that, her fingers tapping her mug. “Okay, fine. Curiosity got the better of me when I found it and I peeked. I promise I won’t this time though. The silent treatment you gave me on Christmas day was horrible.”
“You deserved it. I was excited to surprise you with it and you ruined it.”
“I know.”
The kitchen fell into a comfortable silence and all they could hear, coming from upstairs, was the bathroom tap running as Persephone brushed her teeth and got herself ready before school. Her uniform folded up and placed on her desk, like every morning, right next to the hairbrush that YN used to tie her hair into whatever kind of hairstyle she fancied for the day; today, it was plaits… thankfully, because YN really didn’t want to go through the hassle of doing space buns again.  Her school bag and her lunch box were hanging  off the back of the chair at the head of the table, homework left in her red folder on the table so she could double check her name was written on it before slotting it into her bag, shiny black shoes with a buckle left in the living room where she’d kicked them off yesterday. Coat hanging on the hook in the entryway, where she could reach for it on her way out before clambering into Harry’s Range Rover so he could drive her to school; her favourite mode of transport, she made sure to tell him every night.
“Can you get it by lunchtime today? So I can wrap it before she comes home from school. Otherwise she’ll see it and want it as soon as possible and this is probably the best one of the lot. And we know she follows in her father’s footsteps,” YN smirked, nudging her toe into his shin, “aren’t I right?”
“Like father, like daughter.”
*
The problem with wrapping presents was the backache.
Chronic backache experienced after an hour of being hunched over on the living room floor, sat cross-legged and leaning against the sofa, surrounded by rolled up balls of sellotape that got stuck to itself and useless pieces of wrapping paper that had no purpose on a present because it was too small or too wonkily cut. Bags upon bags full of Christmas presents, all named for family and friends, that she needed Harry to deliver before Christmas eve.
By the time she’d reached the bottom step, after her fourth trip up the stairs to take the newly wrapped presents into her office (locked to save the wandering eyes and the curious toes of her little girl finding them in the corner of her home-office), her husband had arrived home with an excitable Persephone and a guilty look upon his face as he shrugged his coat off and unwrapped his scarf from around his neck. His nose pink, Persephone’s cheeks red, but both their jumpers decorated with crumbs from what she could only imagine came from a cake in their favourite local bakery down the road.
“Mummy! Mummy, daddy took me for a cake afterschool today. I had a chocolate one with sprinkles and a flake and it tasted like an orange and-”
Harry’s eyes widened and he looked to his wife, who had a knowing grin on her face, and he knew he’d been busted from the moment he walked through the door.
“Seff, you promised me you weren’t going to blab to mummy. That was our secret, little lady,” he chuckled softly, cupping the back of her head with his palm, fingertips cold against her scalp, “mummy wasn’t supposed to know.”
“But it was really good and I wanted to tell mummy about it because she can get one when she goes out shopping with auntie Gem and they can taste it and tell me it was yummy,” Persephone grinned, the gap between her two front teeth starting to fill in with a brand-new adult tooth, all pearly white and jagged, “mummy can buy me another one and herself one and auntie Gem one and we can share them together.”
“Did you bring me anything back?”
Her gloved hands dug around her school bag, school shoes long forgotten by the front door and kicked off haphazardly, her scarf hanging round her shoulders and her hand tucked into Harry’s fist because, YN could only guess, she didn’t want to mess up the plaits still perfectly done up. A rustle of wrapping coming from the flat of her pocket, bringing out a carefully wrapped gingerbread man with a purple ribbon tying it together at the top, a bobble stuck to the top as some kind of festive decoration.
“I brought you a gingerbread man, mummy! With the money Nana gave me in my Christmas card,” she thrust her hand towards her mother and passed it to her; YN was sure the money her own mother had given to her was for something she could use herself but she was thankful, of course, entirely grateful that she’d chosen to share her money to get her something.
“Thank you, baby. We’ll share it for pudding after dinner later, yeah? With some strawberries.”
“Yeah and some chocolate sauce!”
And with that, she ran off into the living room and found a comfy space on the sofa to watch whatever YN had left on the television, leaving her mother and father to tidy the mess left behind in the entryway.
“Maybe a little sauce,” YN said as she reached for the coat on the floor, hanging it on the hook beneath her’s and Harry’s, hanging her scarf over the top and leaving her gloves on the radiator to warm up, “you’ve had some chocolate already today.”
Harry grinned and pressed a kiss to his wife’s forehead, squeezing her arm before sneaking passed her and into the living room, bending over the sofa to look at his daughter from an upside-down position, “come on you, let’s go do your homework at the table.”
“Actually,” YN blurted suddenly, standing in the archway before them, smiling softly at them as they looked at her, “before you do that, can I tell you something? Well, not tell you something. Show you something. I want to give you both an early Christmas present, I guess.”
Persephone perked up and pushed herself to her knees, an excitable grin on her already excitable face as she looked between her mum and dad, a confused look spread across Harry’s features.
“What is it?”
YN disappeared for a second, footsteps heard going up the stairs and a creak heard from a bedroom being opened - and if Harry was right then it was the spare room, because he’d promised to fix the squeaking door but had yet to get round to it, where nowhere really went into because it was empty and desolate and had no decor in it yet. There was a sound of some rustling, faint but still audible if you listened closely, the creak heard again before footsteps were heard descending the stairs, a deep breath escaping her mouth before she turned the corner. A white box tucked under her arm.
“Mummy, what’s in the box?”
“I’ll let daddy open it but sit together to open it because it’s for the both of you and I can’t wait till next week to give it to you,” she stepped across the carpet and passed it over, letting him get a good feel of how heavy it was before he sauntered around the sofa and sat on the sofa beside his daughter. Her hand coming across to touch and stroke the white box, looking at it with furrowed eyebrows, waiting for her father to open the flaps and pull whatever was inside out for them to look at.
Harry’s fingers timidly opened the box, sellotape coming undone as he pulled the contents out and set them upon the top; a white babygrow, a white hat and matching mittens and a sonogram of the ultrasound she had during her doctor’s visit. Biting her bottom lip, she couldn’t help but feel the pit of her stomach drop; unexpected or not, they were expecting a baby and she couldn’t have been more excited - she just hoped his silence meant he felt the same.
“So, what do you think?”
A gasp left his mouth.
“What- does this explain why you’ve been so ill?” He stood to his feet and left the contents behind, stepping around the sofa to grab her into a hug and squeeze her against his chest. The sting of happy tears burning the corners of his eyes as he twirled the both of them around. “God, I had a hunch in the back of my head that you were pregnant but I didn’t want to say anything in case it wasn’t. Christ, you think I haven’t heard you vomiting in the bathroom in the mornings before I wake up? Not eating your usual breakfast? All the same mannerisms from the first one?”
He set YN back on the floor and cupped his forehead with his hand.
“I found out this week, Monday evening actually. I wanted to wait till Christmas day to surprise you but I was too excited and it was killing me keeping it from you. I wanted to come back and shout it at you on Monday but- well, surprise.”
“Daddy, what is it?”
They both looked at Persephone and saw her holding the black and white photograph; a scene they hadn’t ever imagined but never wanted to take for granted. Bracing his weight on his elbows, he leant on the back of the sofa and took the picture from her hands, using his pointer finger to show her just what they were so excited about. His eyes scanned the photo before he found what he was looking for, turning it back to Persephone so he could show her the right place.
“You see that little white blob there? Right here,” he spoke softly, pointing to the middle of the sonogram, waiting for her to nod before carrying on “that’s going to be your new baby brother or sister, little lady.”
Her eyes widened and she looked at him.
“Where are you getting them from? Will they be here for Christmas? Can I come with you to pick one?”
Harry chuckled and looked over his shoulder, catching a glimpse of a tear dribbling down YN’s cheek, his own eyes threatening to flood.
“They’re in mummy’s belly right now. A little tiny dot, no bigger than your fingernail. That’ll grow, just like you did, in mummy’s belly until they’re nice and ready to come out and join us next year.”
“Why next year?”
At this point, YN had taken the space next to her husband, standing straight. She reached for her daughter’s hand, bringing it beneath her jumper and placing it on her bare tummy.
“Because they need to grow nice and strong in mummy’s belly before they can come and meet us,” YN smiled, squeezing her hand as they kept their joined hands underneath her bellybutton, “just like you did. That’s where you started, where you came from, until you came and joined us here. Growing and blossoming until they’re ready to come and see us.”
“Like a flower?”
“Yeah,” YN grinned at Harry, his arm resting over her shoulder as he pulled her into his side, squeezing her tightly to his body, “like the most delicate flower in the world. They need the space and time to grow big and strong in my belly, nice and healthy so they can come out and be a part of our family when they’re ready, and be your little brother or sister.”
“That’s great news, huh, little lady? You’re going to be a big sister.”
“The best big sister ever.”

Prompt 47, if you have time
I know I’m late but here it is!
47. “I thought it was a one-night stand… and now we’re married”.
~~~
Robb knows Theon was expecting this the moment he rolls his eyes at the sight of Robb entering into the kitchen carrying the cake on a paper tray.
“Happy birthday babe!” Robb happily sings, resting the cake in front of Theon’s seat and pulling a lighter out his pocket to lit up the candle. It’s a pretty cake: Robb and the baker had planned on how this cake should have looked like for days. In the end, they opted for a vanilla and strawberry cake with pink and red mousse roses decorating it all over. There’s a chocolate bar in the middle of it with the words “30s are the new 20s” written in frosting. A small red and white striped candle is right behind it, and now it’s lit up.
“Blow the candle, come on” Robb says, smiling widely at how Theon is trying his best to hold back a smirk.
“Yay!” he claps his hands like a little kid when Theon’s lips finally blow over the candle and set it off and Robb considers that the perfect time to kiss his cheek and sit on his lap. “Happy birthday, hon”.
“Thanks babe”
Robb rolls his eyes at that face and tap his index finger on Theon’s lower lip, “Oh, stop pouting. You’re cuter when you smile”.
Theon just huffs in response, looking so conflicted Robb almost laughs.
“I can’t believe I just turned… thirty.” He says, “That’s old. What’s next, grey hair?”
“Oh you have no idea how hot you’d look” it’s the first thing Robb says, cause he knows that’s true: Theon would look good with grey hair. It’s naturally black so it would turn to a dark grey, maybe it would start with just a streak and Robb’s sure as hell that would be such a turn on for him.
“Oh I’ll return the favor when you’ll be the one turning this old” Theon says, his pout still not daring to leave his face.
“Still got five years left though.” Robb winks at him and kisses his nose, “I’ll keep reminding you of how older and older you’re getting in the meantime”.
Theon rolls his eyes, slips his hands inside Robb’s back pockets and kisses his nose in return.
“You’re lucky you’re cute.” He says, then makes a weird face, “Why are you wearing jeans in the house?”
“I had to go and take the cake from the bakery” Robb explains.
“And you wore jeans?”
“Uhm yes?” He really wants to chuckle: Theon used to love wearing jeans. He still wears them, but not that often, only when they have to go somewhere special, otherwise he’ll just wear sweatpants everyday, says they’re comfier, which is true. A few years ago, though, he couldn’t help wearing skinny jeans cause he claimed they made his legs look good, which was true.
“Okay but why are they still on? They’re so uncomfortable, take them off” Theon’s hand try to unzip Robb’s pants but the redhead quickly swats them away. “Nope, we have all day for sexy times, let’s just enjoy this cake now”.
Theon glances at it, and finally smirks, “It’s too pretty to be eaten”.
“Oh so you don’t want it?”
“I never said that” he kisses Robb’s cheek and wraps his arms around his waist, pulling him closer and then rubbing his nose against his jaw. “Do you remember this day six years ago?”
Robb smiles, and caresses Theon’s hair: of course he remembers that day, he could never forget it, cause that’s where it all started.
“Oh yeah, we slept in and had brunch and we didn’t talk about how we had drunk sex the night before even though we’ve always been just best friends until the evening. And by the evening we had had sex like, three more times” he explains.
The memory is still vivid in his brain: he was nineteen, college was just starting to look normal, and Theon was his best friend. Five years older than him and with a job at a restaurant that had him wearing a black shirt that made him look adorable when it was all buttoned. The night before Theon’s twenty-fourth birthday he had asked Robb to come over to help him decide which alcoholic games to play at the party the following day. Then Theon asked Robb to stay for dinner and after a few beers they were kissing all of sudden. And all of sudden none of them was wearing clothes.
The following day they had ignored their respective headaches, though Robb couldn’t, at least silently, ignore the fact that Theon had made them something to eat: as far as he knew, Theon had never made his one night stands something to eat the morning after sex. Cause that was what it was right? A one night stand.
Well, it wasn’t.
“Can you believe it?” Theon says, “I thought it was a one-night stand… and now we’re married”.
He brushes Robb’s ring finger, where a small T is tattooed. It had been Theon’s idea to get matching tattoos instead of wedding bands and even though it hurt like hell, Robb has to admit he loves them.
“You were such a sexy twenty-four year old back then… not even in your mid twenties yet” Robb teases, laughing out loud when Theon rolls his eyes so hard they almost turn out completely the other way.
“Oh fuck off”.
Robb brushes some black locks out of Theon’s face, “Why are you complaining about getting older? You know I like older guys”.
Theon’s grip tightens even more around Robb’s waist, as he gently pulls him closer, chests now touching each other, “You don’t like older guys, you just like me”.
Their noses are touching, Robb’s thumbs are caressing Theon’s jaw as he presses his mouth on the corner of his husband’s lips.
“Untrue” he corrects. “I love you”.
Theon’s dimples aren’t exactly in the shape of a small circle, unlike the ones Robb has seen more often: they look more like a long line engraved in his cheeks, which looks just so good with Theon’s sharp features. They don’t make him look younger nor cuter (Sansa’s dimples are basically two little commas that make her look seven when she smiles without showing her teeth), they just make him look… sexy as hell.
And that smile is all Robb is staring at as Theon says, “I have to admit that even though I adored young Robb who still had baby fat at nineteen, I must say this older version of you in your mid twenties, is much hotter”.
Robb gently swats away the hand poking his side with a roll of his eyes, “Is it because of the beard?”
“And because you let your curls grow longer”
He smiles: if he’s obsessed with Theon’s dimples and legs, then Theon’s definitely obsessed with his hair.
“I used to be chubbier back then” Robb states at some point, and Theon nods right back, “You used to be adorable”.
Yeah, Robb knows he really thinks that: he remembers how Theon used to hold his hips, or thighs, and whispering how much he loved how soft they were.
“And you used to wear such skinny ripped jeans that made your legs look so sexy” he claims afterwards, bouncing lightly on Theon’s lap.
“My legs are still sexy”.
“I never said they weren’t anymore.”
They chuckle some more. Robb lays his chin on Theon’s shoulder, as he feels him playing with the curls on his nape.
“Actually how is it even possible that we didn’t hook up sooner?” Robb asks at some point, “I mean, I was totally into you”.
He can’t remember not being into Theon, not even when he was just a kid: Theon had always had this charming aura surrounding him, something that made it impossible for Robb to take his eyes off him.
“Cause we’re dumb and slow, babe.” The answer comes out Theon’s mouth not even after a second Robb asked his question. “Did you forget how much it took us to actually decide we were in a serious relationship after we hooked up?”
Robb loves how thinking about it now, years later, makes him laugh so hard, cause back in the days, not knowing what he and Theon really were drove him mad. He used to spend sleepless nights thinking about how he should have brought up a conversation about it, how to decide what they were, if they were something. When it was actually so easy to understand.
“We literally went on for months calling it a friendship with benefits when we just kept going on dates and cuddling all the time and talking about everything” he smiles.
Theon smiles back, “And everyone started screaming like we fucking won the World Cup for the first time in a century after we told them we were a thing”.
Oh yeah, he’s definitely never forgetting Arya running to the fridge to break out the sparkling wine as she yelled something like “it was about time!”
“Feels like ages ago” he whispers, and suddenly he realizes what Theon means when he says he’s getting old: when he was nineteen, the things he did at thirteen seemed to have happened just a few months ago to him. Now it’s a whole different story, cause he’s no longer a teen, and many things have changed.
“Yeah, back when Loras and Renly didn’t have to bring the baby on double dates cause they didn’t have a baby” Theon mumbles.
Robb nods, although it’s not a surprise that Loras and Renly were the first one becoming parents, in their crew: they’ve been together since anyone can remember, they probably lost count of how many years they’ve been together. Robb has to admit, he had always envied them for that.
“It’s funny cause every time I looked at them I knew they would’ve lasted forever, like, I just knew they would have always been together”, he says, “And I’ve always hoped it could have been the same for us too”.
Theon’s eyes are staring right into Robb’s, one hand massaging his thigh. He shrugs, “Well, look at us now babe. I am an old man and you are a hottie in his mid 20s”.
“You’re only thirty, for fuck‘s sake” Robb can’t help but lightly smack the back of Theon’s head.
“Yeah exactly!” Theon exclaims, like that can explain it all. “First I start getting old. Then I’ll grow grey hair. And then? Then what’s next?”
Robb shrugs, “Then I’ll get older too!”
“And then?”
“And then, I don’t know, then maybe we could have a baby or-“
Robb shuts up the moment he sees Theon’s eyes widening. He doesn’t know how he’s come up with something like this, they never talked about it. Well, Robb did think about it, but never too seriously. Why shouldn’t he, after all? They’re married, and Theon’s always been surprisingly good with kids, even if he says he doesn’t like them. And Robb would like to have a (or some) little munchkin to take care of.
But maybe that wasn’t the right way to bring it up.
“I’m sorry” he says, “I’ve rushed things, sorry. Let’s have some cake, shall we?”
He gets up, grab two small plates, two small forks and a knife and lets Theon cut the cake, since it’s his cake. He still sit back down on his husband’s lap, though, and Theon seems happy to welcome him back by wrapping his free arm around his waist.
“It’s delicious.” He says, after a few bites. Robb nods.
And then they stay silent. Robb’s tense and hopes his fuck up won’t make them fight. He just hope they can pretend nothing happened and eventually start talking about it some day, possibly in a better way.
But then, Theon rests the fork on the plate, cake still to be finished, and turns to Robb. “I would actually love to.”
Robb feels some weird, relieved, happy, feeling grow inside of him, making its way from his stomach to his throat.
“What?” he asks, just in case he’s all imagining this.
Theon rolls his eyes and smacks a hand lightly on Robb’s thigh, “Oh don’t play dumb. I’d love to have a baby with you”.
Robb has to blink a few times, smiling so wide his cheeks hurt, “You would?”
“Yes”.
He really wants to kiss him, he really does. He actually doesn’t know how he’s managing to stay this calm cause the one they’re about to take is a huge step, probably the hugest of their lives.
“Maybe we should take it slow and… try and figure a lot of things out.” He says, “Like, are we adopting or are we going to look for a surrogate or-“
Theon grabs his hand, nodding. He’s surprisingly calm too.
“There’s time for that” he agrees. “Let’s take it slow, of course. Just know that we’re adults, we have jobs, a roof above our heads… we can afford it. We can afford to do anything”
Robb nods, “So, we’re going to be parents at some point. We agreed on this.”
When Theon nods in return, then Robb does kiss him. Fondly. He can’t believe it, he can’t believe how this feels like the proof that Theon is and will always be the only one meant for him: cause Robb wants to spend the rest of his life with him, and their kid. Or kids. And he can’t believe that they actually decided they are going to be parents at some point.
It’s so unbelievable he can hardly imagine it: Theon holding a baby, wrapped in a small blanket. Theon and Robb raising a kid, for the rest of their lives. He wants it, and he loves that Theon wants it just as much.
“We’re really getting older, aren’t we?” he says when he pull away, as Theon reaches over to wipe a tear away from Robb’s cheek.
He winks, and starts whispering, “Yeah but… we’ll never be too old for sexy times”.
And suddenly Theon stands up so quickly Robb doesn’t even realize he scooped him up at first.
“Thee! For fuck’s sake I’m usually the one who picks you up!” He yells, as Theon quickly leads them to the living room. Sometimes he still feels like they’re just kids, though. And he loves it. He’ll still be loving it when they will actually grow old, cause he knows deep inside they’ll always be those two stupid kids.
“Turning thirty made me stronger babe” Theon says, as he lays Robb down on the couch.
Robb looks up at him, smiling. Funny how life works: they hooked up once and now they just said they want kids.
It all started with some drunk birthday sex and it’s still going on, it’s still evolving. And Robb knows, it’s also never going to end.
