Disposable pt3
Being friends with benefits with Min Yoongi can be complicated (at best) by itself. But when you accidentally tell your family (and his boss) that the two of you are dating, things get messy.
Part 1, 2 , 4
You made a series of excuses to get off the phone with Namjoon before curling up under your covers and wishing you hadn’t gone out the previous night. Namjoon insisted that he meet your boyfriend, and you agreed to have lunch with him out of desperation to make him stop talking (it didn’t help that you ran out of reasons not to go). You had lots of friends who were men, surely you could ask one of them to pretend for a day.
You wracked your brain trying to remember what had happened, but all it was doing was making your headache worse. You weren’t thinking straight and you knew it. You needed coffee and a cold shower.
Your phone was still buzzing every few seconds, and you finally looked at the other messages.
“Since when are you in a relationship??”
“Wow he’s cute!! How have u never introduced me!?”
“Never knew you were the secretive type! How long have u been seeing him?”
“You’ve been seeing a hot guy and u never thought to tell me?”
You groaned. All of the messages were from different people, various friends and coworkers. There were more texts that you didn’t even open, you suspected they all said about the same thing. You opened Hani’s message again, sending a quick “What did I apparently tell the whole world last night?”
She sent a picture in response. It took you a second to register what it was in your hungover state. It was a screenshot of a snap, captioned with “Cutest boyfriend ever!!”
You frowned at it, realizing that it was none other than Min Yoongi smiling back at you from your phone. He looked happy, and you weren’t sure when the last time was that you saw him smile like that. You felt your heart sink, realizing a girl was kissing his cheek. “Of course he has a girlfriend.” You thought, and then parts of memories started to come back to you.
Too many shots. Instructing a random person how to insult. A blur telling someone he was your boyfriend. You remembered hugging Jungkook, and crawling into a taxi...
“Min Yoongi, you’re dead.” You muttered as you scrambled out of bed. No wonder Jungkook had believed you when you said Yoongi was your boyfriend! Yoongi had confirmed it, the bastard. You looked at the picture again, and you noticed that it was Yoongi’s arm that was outstretched taking the picture. This was his fault.
The thing you didn’t understand was what he would get out of this. He didn’t want a relationship, he didn’t even want to spend the night. So why do this to you? To rub it in? To make you feel worse by showing you how good you looked together? To embarrass you?
You weren’t sure if you wanted to cry or punch Yoongi, but you changed quickly.
You didn’t bother to call before showing up at Yoongi’s apartment. You pounded on the door, waited a few seconds, and started hammering again.
“What the hell are you doing?” Yoongi growled. The door swung open with your fist still raised, and you lowered it quickly. “Are you here to apologize for last night?”
“This is your fault.” You hissed. Yoongi raised his eyebrows at you.
“What is?”
“You know perfectly well what is.” You shoved him backwards into his apartment, and he staggered back surprised.
“Actually, I really don’t.” He caught your wrists before you could shove him again, and you yanked them away.
“This.” You pulled out your phone, shoving it in his face. “You did this.”
Yoongi frowned at it for a moment before his eyes widened. “You posted that on snapchat?” Judging by his horror, you guessed that he hadn’t known what was going to be done with the photo.
“You said you were my boyfriend!” You accused, changing the subject.
“And you were really drunk. It’s not my fault you did something stupid. Now do me a favor, and get out of my apartment.” You shook your head.
“How could you let me think you were my boyfriend?” You began pacing. “Do you know how much trouble I’m in?”
Yoongi sighed, leaning against a wall. “Do I care?”
You stopped. “Both of my brothers now think that not only am I madly in love with someone they don’t know, but they thinks it’s with you.” And shit. You just realized that you had agreed to take your ‘boyfriend’ out for lunch with Namjoon. What were you thinking?
Yoongi shrugged. “So tell them you were drunk.”
Yoongi wasn’t getting this. “It’s more complicated than that.” You started pacing again. If you told Namjoon now that you had lied to him, he would be heart broken. Namjoon never tried to pressure you to date, but you knew how much he wanted you to be happy. You hadn’t dated in years, and it had never bothered you. You figured you would find someone if it was meant to be, and didn’t bother looking. Namjoon, on the other hand, thought there was some underlying issue that made you avoid relationships, and tried to set you up on blind dates frequently.
“Go on a lunch date with me next week.” You said after some thinking. “I’ll introduce you to my brother, he’ll be happy, and in a few weeks I’ll tell him we had a terrible fight and broke up.”
Yoongi snorted. “How about... No.”
You rubbed your eyes, asking yourself why you had to be friends with benefits with Yoongi, of all people. He was one of the most difficult, stubborn people you had ever met.
“None of this would have happened if you hadn’t told Jungkook that we were dating.” You muttered, and Yoongi paused.
“What does Jungkook have to do with this? I thought you said it was because of the picture.”
You gave him a strange look. “Jungkook’s my brother, and you told him we were dating. He would have known better than to believe me otherwise.”
“But if Jungkook is your brother…” Yoongi said slowly, and you could see the beginnings of panic in his eyes. “That means that Namjoon is also your brother.”
“Yeah..? Do you know him?”
Yoongi ignored you. “You’re Kim Namjoon’s little sister? The one that does all the cool art things? And the one that he’s so protective of?”
You nodded. You weren’t so sure if running an art museum counted as ‘cool art things’, but weren’t in the mood to explain your profession to Yoongi right that moment.
“So you do know him.” You said, and Yoongi stared at you incredulously.
“Know him? He’s my damn boss.” It was Yoongi’s turn to start pacing. “Do you know what he’ll do to me if he finds out?”
“What?” You said calmly. “That you’ve been using his precious baby sister for sex? I wonder…”
“You wouldn’t.”
You raised your eyebrows at him. “Wouldn’t I?”
“You knew all along, didn’t you?” Yoongi suddenly accused, and you sighed.
“How would I have? Yoongi, I don’t even know what you do for a living, how would I have known who your boss was?” You watched Yoongi pace for a few more seconds before continuing. “Go on that lunch date with me.”
“No way in hell.” Yoongi was seething, and you knew it might not be easy to convince him.
“There’s a promotion in it for you.” You offered, and Yoongi glared at you. “I’ll talk to Namjoon—“
“I don’t give a damn about a promotion that I didn’t earn myself.”
You were a bit taken aback by this. Over the years, there had been so many men who tried to get in your pants as a way to move up in the company. Not to mention, everyone wanted to be the brother-in-law to one of the wealthiest men in the country. In their minds that meant getting a cut of the family fortune. It was one of the reasons you didn’t date.
“I’ll tell Namjoon about us.” You could tell by the way Yoongi froze that he knew exactly what you were talking about. You both knew it was low, but you were desperate.
“This is blackmail.” Yoongi fumed, and you shrugged.
“Would it really be so horrible to go on one fake date with me?”
“What about when you tell them we broke up?” Yoongi said, and you knew you had won.
“It won’t be an issue, I’ll just tell them it was my fault. I’ll say I cheated on you or something.”
Yoongi shook his head. “This is insane. I’m not doing it. You can’t make me.”
Yoongi couldn’t believe you had talked him into this. He checked his hair one last time before walking into the restaurant where you had agreed to meet. This was going to be uncomfortable and weird, and he really didn’t want to be there.
He wondered what Namjoon’s reaction was when you told him who you were supposedly dating. The man himself had been out of town the whole week, and Yoongi had never been so happy to see Namjoon’s office empty.
Jungkook had been acting downright strange however, asking him constant questions.
“So you’ve been together for a while?” He had asked the previous day, and Yoongi rolled his eyes.
“Sure. Now let me work.”
“Do you treat her well?”
“Why wouldn’t I?”
“You must have fought with her though. That’s why she was drunk, wasn’t it?”
His last comment had been a little too much, and Yoongi didn’t respond. He didn’t like thinking about hurting you, and it wasn’t like he had done it on purpose. It brought back your words from the previous week, and he felt guilty all over again.
“Why are you always so mean to me?”
He wasn’t always mean to you. And this would be proof.
You were waiting for him just inside the restaurant, and he noticed how nice you looked. To be fair, you always looked good--whether you had makeup on or had just gotten out of the shower, you always looked stunning. But today you looked different, with heals and your hair carefully pulled up into a bun. You looked sophisticated, and incredibly worried.
“Oh my god, I thought you weren’t going to show up.” You whispered when you saw him, and he made a face at you.
“I said I’d be here, didn’t I?” He grumbled.
“Yeah, you did, I just...”
“Let’s just get this over with, okay?” Yoongi interrupted. “Is Namjoon here yet?”
You nodded, pulling him by the elbow a few feet further into the restaurant, and pointed to where he was seated.
“Act like you love me.” You said, slipping your hand into his. He made a face, and then remembered why he was doing this. He had no idea if Namjoon was a vengeful person, but he did know that he was very protective of his sister. He took a deep breath and walked hand-in-hand with you a little further into the restaurant. Once he was sure you were within Namjoon’s eyesight, he pulled you in for a kiss. It was slow and deep, and when he pulled away you whispered a breathless; “What was that?”
“You said to act like I’m in love.”
It was a little worrisome, Yoongi thought, how right it had felt.
A/N Yay another part! I shouldn’t be too busy tomorrow, so I’m hoping to catch up some on requests, and work on the next part of “Of Books and Dirty Cash”. I feel a bit bad tbh, with each part, this gets further away from the original request. But I’m also really enjoying writing it! Thank you for reading, and let me know what you think! <3
