#he just likes to hear dream's excuses and groveling

Imagine Azul begging you not to leave.
Begging you to stay.
Begging you to have a life with him.
But you can’t
For you need to go home
Nooooo 😭😭
----
"Please, prefect! We may have started off on the wrong foot, and you may not have liked me for the most part, but please! I can change that! I-I can change! Just please!! Don't leave me!"
You stay silent, painfully and pitifully staring at Azul, who's started crying and groveling on the floor at this point.
He shakily holds onto your hand, your leg, anything he can grasp, in desperation. His eyes are bloodshot, tears falling on his face and the floor.
"I'm begging you! I can't be left alone!! Not again! If you leave, I" -the boy stops to take a shaky breath- "I'll be all alone! No one's cared for me like you have! Not even the twins..."
Poor Ashengrotto has gone used to your kindness, your warmth, your love, your care, that once it's gone, he knows he'll never be the same again.
"I can stop all the contract stuff! I'll gladly shut down Mostro Lounge of you want!! I can grant you anything you've ever wished for and dreamed of!! All I ask of you is that you don't leave me...!"
You purse your lips, sighing at the begging octomer in pity. "Azul..."
Azul perks up at you, looking up in desperation and hope. You were going to stay with him, right?
Right?
"All I've ever wished for and dreamed of... was to go home. I have to do this."
No.
You didn't just say that right? Azul must have been hearing things!
Azul's heart stops. And he wishes it was meant in a literal sense; he can't possibly live without you with him. His grip weakens and eventually drops a second later, and with a pitying glance you turn around and leave him.
He cries and sobs his heart out so pathetically, he understands why you pity him.
Azul grips and tugs at his hair in frustration and agony as he realizes that you've always pitied him this whole time.
Everything you did was either out of obligation or pity, wasn't it? No wonder you left him at the end, anyway. Who'd want to stay with such a dumb octopus like him, after all?
Now, he's all left alone with no one to comfort him. He vaguely notices Jade knocking on his room and entering after no response.
Jade stares at his boss, his eyes holding amusement and that damned pity Azul hates so much.
"My, my. Well, you're quite a mess, Azul."
Azul stares at Jade despondently, while the latter looks at the magic crystal in Azul's staff. Finding no significant amount of blot, Jade leaves the room, excusing himself.
Now, Azul is left all alone. No comfort, no care, no warmth.
Nothing.

THE PROMISE (2023, THAILAND)
Episode 6 (after month long hiatus)
I have a lot to say about this series...so without further ado let the ramble begin.
I fell in love with these characters because of the 2 mini series last year PHUPHA (August 2022) then NANFAH (November 2022) before the series was announced. For the mini series it was a more serious tone to it. Phu was ready to confess to Nan after Nan set Phu up on a date with Dina. You could see the life force drain from Phu as Nan brought him to a restaurant then made up an excuse to leave so Dina could confess to Phu that she liked him. Phu told Dina he was in love with Nan and she convinced him to tell Nan. So Phu decided to do that on the last day of university. He says to Nan I have something to tell you so come straight home after your final exams. Nan agrees. Phu comes to Nan's faculty and hears him talking to friends about going out. Now Nan told his friends he needed to go see Phu. Then Phu sees Nan walk up to Gigi and hug her as she gives him a rose. Thinking Nan has chosen Gigi, Phu goes home and packs and leaves a note saying he's moving to Melbourne to be with his mother.
Now in Nanfah, Nan has a chat with his landlady where she reveals the story of Phu leaving after ordering a flower bouquet with a meaning but he came home crying and brokenhearted and left. Nan figures out Phu's feelings and for 10 years searches for Nan. Going to Melbourne every year looking for Phu. Emailing him. Video messaging him.
Now the series cuts a lot of that out. So we start with Phu orchestrating his way back into Nan's life.
So in Episode 5 of the series Nan finds out Phu lied to him and says he never wants to see him again.
So in Episode 6 one expects Phu to grovel to get back in Nan's good graces but NO.. Nan starts the whole process over again when he finds Phu has run away again (this time he thought his grandmother needed him) but Nan again runs after Phu. Yes, he's angry but not as angry as he should be.
So my theory is Nan is just as much into Phu as Phu is into Nan but for different reasons neither wants to say the words. I'M IN LOVE WITH YOU.
Nan is like a zombie after he learns Phu has once again ran off. He can barely function. When the series started Nan couldn't even sleep without prescription drugs. He wrote unanswered emails for 10 years.
Is there a codependency between these two? An obsession? Or is it an unspoken love? Or all of the above.
Nan is always very affectionate with Phu. Cheek kissing, face holding and hugging. Remember that look of jealousy when he saw Phu with Dina in Phu's bedroom?
Anybody else would have put Phu on the back burner and moved on. But Nan can't let go.
Our Dating Sim did this very thing (but better) Lee Wan confessed but felt rejected before disappearing for 7 Years while Ki Tae searched and brought Lee Wan back into his universe via a job.
Plus even after all this during Phu's dream of losing Nan after confessing. Nan says I'LL NEVER LEAVE YOU. DAMN GUYS JUST SAY IT ALREADY!!!
Now you gonna tell me Nan was so drunk that he forgot that kiss with Phu?
I think that kiss was Phu's confession because he was so serious about it. He wanted Nan to raise the question. What happened? Why? Because Phu can't say the words. He can't confess. It terrifies him for some reason. He wants Nan SO BAD but he can't say it. So instead he runs away. But quite honestly Phu has been a good friend to Nan and vice versa. From the minis to the series. But his constant running away makes it seem like the opposite is true. I hope this series picks it up soon from being an ad to being a BL.
RANT OVER.

TW: Self harm. Suicide
The horror first dawned on him when he took a sharpened rock to his wrists and still woke up when the sun next rose.
He’d had nothing left to fight for. Arceus had denied him, that child had stolen his chances, everything he’d worked and dreamed for, made a mockery of him under his own nose, and Volo had fallen.
He couldn’t even drag himself back to Cogita, the one person with the slightest chance to hear him out, couldn’t bring himself to grovel for pity from the neutral party. The idea almost stung more than the scrapes from the battle, so broken from his goals being shattered his pride barely let him think.
He’d let his pokemon go, folded into a heap in the rain at the base of the mountain, tucked away just enough that no one would see him if they wandered by.
Togekiss had refused to leave his side, even as he ignored her cries, her feathers dull as she laid beside him.
He could only spare a flash of guilt for what he was going to do to her, taking his own life. But what else was there for him? Perhaps he’d be granted a small enough mercy to finally meet Arceus in the afterlife.
The righteous anger he snarled at Arceus’ chosen bleeds from him alongside the rivets of red, the whirlwind of emotions soaking into the muddy ground as calm seeps in to take it’s place.
His head feels heavy, he tips, shivers, closes his eyes…
And wakes to Togekiss barking at a Psyduck that’s wandered too close for her comfort.
He spends the next three days in a haze, trying to process what’s going on, and comes to the conclusion this is punishment.
Three days of cold, empty shock gives way to vicious spite with the realisation.
So this is the game Arceus wants to play? To mock his failures like this? Then so be it.
He can make good on his threat. He will search for eternity if he must, but he will find all the secrets Hisui-this world-has to offer on its heartless, pitiful excuse for a god, he will face Arceus one day, and he will finally prove himself.
So he wanders. Keeps up the pretence of a simple merchant now and then. Finds he can grow hungry, he still needs food, but he can’t starve. After a while he finds he doesn’t age. He outlives Togekiss, and is all alone.
He tries again when she’s gone, at least it’s something less barbaric than a rock. The loneliness is colder than the winter he’d almost frozen to death.
He wakes up the same as last time, gives a poor stranger who’d come across his body a fright. Moves on quickly before questions start being asked.
He can scar. It’s dangerous to travel without a pokemon, but anything that would injure him badly enough to be a deterrent to anyone else suddenly feels as trivial as a papercut. He’s littered with silvery, puckered patches of skin within a few years.
He watches. He learns. The world around him grows and advances. He gets to see people and pokemon grow closer than he’d thought he’d get to see, he’s baffled by how fast technology changes, stubbornly tries to stick to tradition as much as he can.
He avoids making friends. Refuses to take another pokemon. He embraces the loneliness, starts to believe it’s what he deserves, just another part of the curse he’s under.
He never stops searching, meticulously uncovering every mystery he can. He chases tales and rumours across the world, visits regions he’d never heard of, never once stops, never once slows.
He doesn’t know what he wants in the end anymore. But he knows he will meet Arceus, even if it takes him eternity.

Perks of the Job
Pairing: Oikawa x Reader
Genre/Warnings: Yandere, NSFW, Non-Con/Rape, Bullying, Coercion, Abuse/Violence, Sexual Assault, Degradation
Prompt: “I wonder what he’d do if he knew you were with me right now.”
Summary: You realize far too late that you should have read the fine print of your job contract, questioned the golden egg that had fallen in your lap a little more as you stand face to face with the man you thought you had left far behind in your life.
Author’s Note: This is my contribution for my HQ Discord Server’s NSFW collaboration. There are so many talented writers on the server and I highly encourage you to check out the collaboration masterlist here to see how everyone decided to run with this prompt. (Masterlist goes live Sunday, December 6th!)
Big thank you to @sawamooora for beta-reading this~
Even by his first year of high school, Oikawa is used to the attention, used to girls smiling and giggling at just a well practiced wink he sends their way. And although no one catches his interest, he thrives on the power he feels, the way he knows he has people so easily wrapped around his fingers with just a few rehearsed lines and a dash of his natural charm. So he’s surprised when he first encounters you.
Unlike everyone else, you don’t even pause as you pass him in the hallway, don’t even bother to turn for a quick look in his direction.  Unlike like every other female, you keep your face focused forward and continue to class, completely tuning out the gaggle of giggling girls he has surrounding him. And suddenly his interest is peaked as he watches your retreating figure, a sharp gleam in his eyes and a new conquest in sight.
He uses every trick in the book at first, shooting coy smiles and flirtatious winks your way, cheerfully greeting you each morning at the front gates and walking you right to the doorway of your classroom, sometimes lingering around to exchange small talk if there was time before class started. You’re polite about it, although a bit hesitant, unsure what about you has caught his interest, uncomfortable with the glowering attention you’re receiving from the females around you, but he grits his teeth in frustration when you never reciprocate with anything more than a small smile and superficial words.
There’s only so long that one can keep a facade, even if it is almost like a second skin and bit by bit, Oikawa’s sheep-like fleece weathers down until snarling fangs and bared teeth are all that remains. You wince as he sharply tugs at your hair, glare as he purposefully knocks the items off your desk onto the floor, and lash out at him to his amusement when he repeatedly closes your locker on you. And although there’s bitterness inside of him that he’s had to resort to such uncouth methods, he can’t help the self satisfied smile when he has all your attention, when your rage filled eyes are locked on him and him alone, when you’re spitting venomous snarls just for him to hear.
So, he’s quite displeased when third year comes around and suddenly it’s like everyone’s biological clock has suddenly started to rapidly tick. Things are different now that they’ve officially entered adulthood.
His fangirls are touchier, more clingy, and although he rolls his eyes as they purposefully hike up their skirt and press their bodies against him when they talk, he doesn’t pull away. It wouldn’t be good for his image. And besides, being an adult means having fun doesn’t it?
So, to the dismay of Iwaizumi and the hoots and hollers of Hanamaki and Matsukawa, he has his fun, sneaking girl after girl into the locker room, the club room, even the equipment room.
But what infuriates him the most is the way seemingly every male suddenly has their eyes on you, the way your locker is filled to the brim on a daily basis with love notes, the way you’re now always surrounded by a flock of groveling boys all clamoring for your attention, the way he can’t even get close enough to do anything to you anymore, the way you seem to forget he even exists.
And that’s unacceptable.
He sends his fangirls to do his bidding and although it’s not nearly as satisfying when he’s not the one personally wreaking havoc in your life, when he doesn’t get to see the look of pain and anger in your eyes up close and personal, there’s still a sense of contentment when he sees your tear stained eyes and ruined uniform from afar, the way you seem to shrink in on yourself in shame and embarrassment when you come out of the women’s locker room, the restroom, places only other female students can get to you, where there are no other eyes to protect you.
But his nails dig into his palms as his fists clench when he sees his fellow male classmates bending over backwards to comfort you, to help you, draping their uniform jackets over your shoulders to hide your disheveled uniform, cooing at your injuries as they gently lead you to the nurse’s office.
And if there’s anything Oikawa hates in the world, it’s losing.
He slams his fist in frustration as he feels you slipping further and further away from him, as he loses against Ushijima, as he loses against Kageyama, as he loses any chance of seeing his dreams of Nationals come true, as he loses in everything that ever mattered to him.
Maybe that’s why he drinks far more than he should at the third year house party, an early graduation party of sorts, a last hurrah before all of you go your separate ways. Maybe that’s why when he sees you, his eyes narrow in determination as he chugs the rest of his drink, despite Iwaizumi’s growl at him to slow down his intake. Maybe that’s why he seeks you out like a bloodhound looking for prey that it’s caught wind of.
And all he can think of as he corners you in an abandoned section of the house, forcing your body against the wall, feeling you helplessly push against him, watching fear and confusion fill your eyes, is that he needs a win - just one win.
But of course life has different plans for him and just as he’s shoved his legs between your thighs, just as one of his hands has slipped underneath your shirt to roughly knead one of your breasts, just as he’s crushed his lips against yours in something far too brutal to be considered a kiss, he’s being torn away from you. It’s only Iwaizumi’s familiar voice and face that keeps the ace from getting punched in the face as he snarls at Oikawa to get the fuck away from you and sober up. And all Oikawa sees is red when he briefly glances back once more before turning the corner, only to see his own best friend kindly hovering next to you, gently taking care of you and fixing your clothes for you, an uncharacteristic softness in green eyes as he looks at you.
Betrayal like he’s never felt before suffocates him as he watches the two of you tentatively begin to dance around each other in an awkward yet endearing courtship. He watches as he loses his best friend, watches as he loses the only woman who’s ever caught his interest, watches as the two of you walk off into your fairytale sunset together, hand in hand, never even glancing back at him as you both go off on your merry way together.
He’s not proud of the cruel smile that naturally stretches across his face when he hears that the two of you have broken up years later, a brief comment that Hanamaki slips into one of their happy hour catch-ups as the ex-Seijoh third years share a bottle (maybe a few bottles) of sake. But he fakes a look of concern and consolement, trying to conceal his curiosity as he lightly questions Iwaizumi about the break-up, airily asking what the reason was.
And he secretly grins as he excuses himself to the restroom when he thinks about the depressed slump of the ex-ace’s shoulders, the downcast look on his face. He cherishes his dear friend, but it’s nice to see someone suffer the same way he had, to share the pain of loss, to share the agony of losing you specifically.
But maybe lost things are meant to be found, he thinks, as he scans the resume handed to him when he enters his office the next morning, chocolate brown eyes gleaming when they see the familiar name neatly typed on the top of the page.
You're desperate.
After Iwaizumi and you had broken up, you had insisted on moving out and living on your own. Never mind the fact that Iwaizumi was paying for the majority of your old rent. Never mind the fact that you don't make nearly enough income to survive on your own. You had just wanted a clean break from the handsome man who had been such a large integral part of your life and despite the small part of you that pleaded to give this relationship another chance, to take him up on his offer to stay with him until you're in a better place to support yourself, you packed your bags and left.
And now here you are, living in an awful part of town, sirens blaring every few minutes, struggling to pay rent for the old decrepit studio that's barely big enough to fit even just your modestly sized bed. But you determinedly make do, putting on your one nice interview outfit and applying your makeup as best as you can despite the cracked bathroom mirror and flickering lights, before taking a deep breath and exiting your apartment.
You're not even sure how you landed an interview at such a prestigious company. Although being a secretary for one of their higher ups doesn't exactly sound like your dream job, when you saw what the salary range was, you leapt at the opportunity. Screw your pride. If faking a smile and acting like a glorified maid for a disgusting old man meant you were finally able to   afford a decent quality life? So be it.
Nerves eat at you and your heart pounds as you anxiously wait for the interview to begin, but you're shocked when an employee steps inside the room only to distractedly ask you generic questions, questions you're sure just about anyone could answer, not even pretending to pay attention as he fiddles with his phone in front of you. You can’t help but wonder if this is a good or bad sign. Were you so unqualified that you were just a waste of time? Why even bother bringing you in for an interview if they had intended to turn you away right from the start?
But to your surprise when the quick and simple questioning is done, the interviewer just stands up with a smile and nonchalantly tells you that they'd be in touch soon. And true to his words, your cell phone rings not even a few hours later that same day and you gape as they extend an offer to you with a salary even higher than you had ever imagined, which you eagerly accept, not a trace of doubt or hesitation in your mind.
You meekly follow the friendly receptionist who leads you through the intimidatingly large office, the smell of coffee and the sounds of keyboards clacking and voices chattering swirling around you as you’re led further and further until you’re finally facing a solitary office, far from the bustling crowd of the main floor, reeking of status and power. And you force a tight smile on your face as you’re left alone, taking a deep breath before timidly knocking and opening the door when a voice beckons you in.
Nothing could have prepared you for the sight in front of you and if you were jittery before at the prospect of a new job and a new boss, then you’re positively shaking now, trembling like a leaf in the wind when you see a face you hoped you would never see ever again, a face that still haunts you to this day, that brings back painful memories of a tormented childhood. And you wonder if you should quit right here, right now, cursing yourself for not asking more questions about exactly who your employer was, who you’d be working side by side with as their executive assistant.
You’re so lost in your panicked thoughts that you don’t register the tall figure approaching you, head whipping when your name is called in that lilted sing song voice of his and you shudder as familiar brown eyes gaze down at you.
“Oikawa…”
He smiles at your shivering figure and your frenzied wide eyes when you register exactly who you’re now working for. Pride soaring in his chest when he sees the impact he still has, the effect he still has on you, even after all these years. And he can’t help but circle around your frozen figure, admiring how you’ve grown and matured since he’d last seen you, purring at the way you instinctively lower your head in unconscious submission, not daring to meet his eyes as he closes his office door, flinching at the sound of the lock clicking in place.
It just wouldn’t do for anyone to interrupt such a special reunion.
You’re so predictable, it’s almost laughable. Oikawa has to fight the urge to roll his eyes as he leans back against the closed door, blocking your one escape route out of this hell hole you’ve gotten yourself trapped in. It’s amusing listening to you stutter out some feeble attempt at a resignation, listening to you try to convince yourself and him that this must be a mistake, that surely you’re someone else’s secretary, not his, never his. And as cute as it is watching denial and pure terror dance across your face, he tires of your endless blathering and he maliciously grins at how quick you are to snap to attention and silence yourself when he barks at you to shut up.
But what he isn’t expecting is the sudden fire in your eyes, the resolved steeliness in your demeanor as you glare at him head on and maybe it’s a good thing that you’d spent so much time with Iwaizumi because this is going to be so much more fun than he could have possibly imagined.
The wolf inside of him gnashes his teeth and howls in amusement as you furiously give him a piece of your mind, rebuke him for how horrible and awful he was throughout highschool, haughtily tell him that this is the real world now and that you’re not going to let him just walk all over you, let him do whatever he wants. In fact, you’re leaving right now. You don’t need him or this stupid job.
And his grin sharpens as you hold your head up high while you make your way towards him and the door, not even hesitating as you move to shove him aside. But then he pounces and you can’t even scream as you’re suddenly shoved down, gasping as you painfully hit the ground.
He has to give you some credit though. Clearly dating an athletic trainer has done you some good and he winces just a bit as you thrust your knee into his abdomen, surprised by the force behind it. But the pain only fuels him more, the sharp pang grounding him, helping him concentrate as he pries apart your legs, his knees achingly pressing down into the sensitive flesh of your inner thighs as he puts all his weight on top of you, chuckling when you wail at how his kneecaps painfully pin you down.
And he almost coos proudly at you as you try to sit up, as you try to support your upper body off the ground with your forearms and hands, as you try to find some leverage to get yourself out of your undesirable position. But all it takes is him digging his knee even further into your bruised leg and with a yelp you fall back down, snarling at him with pretty tears welling in the corner of your eyes as he leans forward, pinning you fully with his arms now trapping your wrists on the floor on either side of your head.
“Don’t be like this, cutie. You’re the one who accepted the job. Not my fault you were too dumb to even look into it carefully. But I guess a dumb bitch is always a dumb bitch.”
He smirks at the way his cruel words have you twisting and writhing underneath him with renewed fervor, but like an animal sensing that it’s nearing its end, you surprise him with a last vehement action as you spit in his face when your futile struggle falls flat. And as the thick glob slides down his face, his facade cracks and a sharp cracking sound pierces through the air before you’re suddenly seeing stars as heat rushes through your face from the impact of his palm.
“Listen to me. You’re going to shut the fuck up and behave. You’re going to stay as my secretary. You’re going to do every fucking thing I tell you to do. You know why? Because I own you. I  could ruin your entire life with a single phone call - with the snap of my fingers. Your entire career, over, with just a single email. Good luck trying to afford even your shitty little apartment when you’re blacklisted from every corporation in this city.”
Oikawa hums in satisfaction when you finally still, fear and uncertainty twirling in your eyes as your bottom lip begins to tremble, liquid pooling in your tear ducts as you shakily stare at him. But he outright laughs in your face when you latch onto your one last hope.
“Hajime! I’ll tell Haji-”
You break off into a squeal when sharp teeth bury into the crook of your neck, tears streaming down your face as Oikawa leaves a mark that will last for at least a few days and you cringe at the feeling of his warm wet tongue tasting you, staining you.
“Iwa-chan? I wonder what he’d do if he knew you were with me right now. Would he trust his longtime childhood friend, his best friend who he still talks to and hangs out with almost everyday, especially now that you’ve left him all alone? Or would he trust the woman who broke his heart, who led him on for so many years, only to tell him you just “weren’t feeling it” anymore when he was about to propose?”
He lets out a derisive snort at the hurt in your eyes, the guilt he can practically see smothering you at his words.
“It’s okay, cutie. Of course you weren’t feeling it with Iwa-chan. You were just waiting for me all this time, right? So don’t worry. Relax. Let me make you feel good and make up for all the lost time, okay?”
And he beams when you don’t even resist in the slightest as he removes your clothing, as he hungrily explores every inch of you, calloused fingertips, lips, teeth, and tongue tracing every bit of you, tasting and feeling everything that’s been out of reach for so long.
A victorious grin spreads across his face at the slight moan you try to quickly muffle as he drags a wet trail to your nipples, tongue lightly flicking the hardening bud before his lips swoop in and harshly suck. He groans as your hips instinctively buck when his hand begins to toy with your other nipple and he grinds his straining cock against you.
But he lets out an irritated tsk as your hands feebly push at him, as your quivering voice begs him to stop, quickly silencing you with a rough twist of the nipple between his fingers and a feral warning look as he slides down his pants and boxers just enough for his throbbing cock to spring out.
And he briefly relishes the way your watery eyes are suddenly captivated by the sight of his impressive length. A sick sense of pride bubbles in his chest at the way you nervously gulp when he lines himself up with your entrance. You barely even have time to blink before he’s brutally slamming himself to the hilt inside of you with one rough thrust.
He hisses at how tight and warm you are, grits his teeth at the feeling of your nails clawing at his back and arms as he slams himself even deeper. Your pathetic cries make him even harder as you desperately scramble to accommodate his size.
He drowns himself in the intoxicating feeling of your walls clamping down on him, the sound of your strangled voice screaming his name mixing with the clapping sound of skin meeting skin as he pistons in and out of you relentlessly, starting a brutal pace right from the start, ignoring the terror and hurt laced in your screams as he hones in on your sweet voice repeating his name over and over again, hones in on the fact that every ounce of your attention is on him, that he’s all you can think of and feel in the moment and he wishes this moment could last forever.
But that’s impossible and he can feel his end approaching, his rhythm becoming erratic, his body tensing, and with a few more slams of his hips against yours, he’s spilling deep inside of you, moaning as he makes a mess of your insides, careful not to let even a single drop escape as he pulls out and quickly slips your panties back on you, trapping his essence inside of you.
You’re still limp on the floor as he stands up, casually stretching his arms above his head with a yawn before tucking himself back into his pants, brushing himself off as he makes his way to his desk. And he hums as he turns on his computer, not even glancing at the pathetic sight you make, sprawled out, naked aside from the pair of panties he had generously helped you with, your face a mess of dried tears and saliva, your hair a tousled mess.
But you flinch when he finally speaks as you muster the will to slowly dress yourself, the will to ignore the pounding ache and dripping mess between your legs, his carefree tone tearing your self-esteem to shreds as he just continues typing emails all the while.
“Hurry up and get to work. That’s what you’re getting paid for after all. You can consider what just happened a perk of the job and I’ll be sure to give you a lot of extra bonuses while you’re with me. Looking forward to working together.”
Bile rises in your throat at his flippant words and the flirtatious wink he sends your way. For a second you hesitate, staring longingly at the locked door. But even with your back turned to him, you can still feel his piercing gaze boring holes into your soul. You know deep down in your gut that his threat isn’t just empty words, that as hard as life is now, it would be complete and utter hell the moment you stepped out of his office without his permission. You know that in the end, you’d be left with no other option than to come crawling back to him, groveling for mercy when your bank account is running on less than empty, when you’re forced out onto the streets.
So, as humiliating as it is, you limp over to the smaller desk situated in the corner of the office, every step a crushing blow to your self worth and pride, grimacing as you begin to feel something thick and sticky threaten to leak from between your thighs. And you obediently sit, blinking back the tears as you turn on your own company-issued laptop, shifting uncomfortably as your aching body comes in contact with the solid surface of your chair, raising the ringing phone to your ear.
“This is Oikawa Tooru’s office. How may I help you?”

S02E06: The Game Show Killer (Part 1)
Tumblr media
1. Paulina Gets Fired
Paulina stood in the elevator, her hands fidgeting at her sides. She plucked at the fabric of her well-kept slacks, needled at the strings inside her pockets, and tried not to chew a hole through her own cheek. He’s gonna let me off easy, I know it, she tried to convince herself. He likes me. We’ve known each other a long time… Has this elevator always been this slow?
The doors opened into a massive room. It was nearly as large as a tennis court, and the entire back wall was made of glass. Through it she could see alien shapes moving in the thick, dark water, cast in an eerie blue light by lamps from beneath the aquarium. The fish swam round and round, some looking at her with eyes as big as saucers. Others had no discernable eyes at all. And one of them had a tiny light of its own on a long, thin tendril, dangling right above its hideous maw.
“Paulina,” came a cold, clear voice. She snapped to attention. At the end of a long carpet, a pale and sickly-looking man—his hair and skin a gauzy white, his form beautiful even in his gauntness—laced his fingers together. “Why did I receive a call from the head of Top Tier this morning?”
“I-I dunno, boss,” Paulina stammered. “Why?”
“This isn’t a riddle, you goon!” President Amar roared, bringing his hand down onto the desk with a sound like a gunshot. Paulina jumped. “I had to spend thirty minutes convincing Percy King that I wasn’t responsible for his dim-bulb host coming home with bruises. Would you care to explain why you moved without my explicit authorization?”
“I’m sorry,” she said quickly. “I thought…I thought it was the right time. I mean, you always said Sparker was the weak link in TT, so I thought I could help you.” The excuses tumbled out of her as she gesticulated. “I know you’ve always wanted him out of the picture! I just jumped the gun a little, that’s all!”
“That’s all? Do you realize the nightmare you’ve put me through?” Amar spun around in his chair to face the aquarium, sighing irritably. “I've already had my hands full with that idiot nephew of mine terrorizing Sparker and his friends on the road! Don't tell me you two came up with this on your own."
“I don't know anything about that, boss,” Paulina groveled. “I swear! I can talk to him, if you want," she stammered. "He and I get along real well, but--"
Amar spun back around, his gaze cold. “No, I think you’ve done quite enough for one day,” he declared. “I wouldn’t dream of imposing any more work upon you. Collect your things from the hotel, Paulina. I’m terminating your employment, effective as of…” He glanced at his watch. “Now.”
Paulina froze.
“Did you hear me? Get out of here,” her boss ordered. He pointed towards the door with an immaculately manicured white finger. In the lamplight, it sparkled like snow. “Go back to the underground, where I plucked you out of the dirt and dust. I’m sure those rats in the tunnels will be more than willing to welcome you again.”
Paulina had made the trip to the tunnels hundreds, if not thousands, of times, but it was one she was hoping she’d never have to make again. To get to the town’s generators, the workers had to take buses to the lowest residential tier, 1-1, and then board the massive freight elevators that carried people and equipment down, down, down towards the very bottom of the city. Past the isolated farms, the crowded factories, and the prisons was the heart of Electricopolis itself: the power plants.
“Please, no,” she begged, quavering. “Please, Mr. Amar, I can make it up to you!” From out of the shadows, two figures approached, winding their arms around hers, dragging her towards the exit. “I swear,” she cried out, “I’ll make it up to you!”
---
Past the prisons, she thought to herself. Even lower than the convicts.
The power plant was ring-shaped, like the rest of Electricopolis' layers, and large enough to be a town in its own right. The electricity transfer lines criss-crossed each other and sprawled outwards in a jumble of wire and metal. Radio towers for worker use jutted upwards, blinking red and yellow, and the fluorescent lights flickered weakly.
Distantly, the wind whistled through the vents in the walls, but it wasn't enough to dislodge the dust and grime that settled on every surface. Paulina pulled her face mask up over her nose and mouth.
"D24," came a short, clipped voice from a man with a notepad. "D24."
She checked her work ticket, then looked up. “Here.”
“Haven’t seen you in a while,” the foreman remarked. “You’ll be on Team F, laying cable from points 28 to 32.” He reached down, grabbed a spool of heavy-duty cable, and shoved it at her. “Get going, don’t slack off, and don’t cause any trouble.”
As she walked past him, she heard him let out a knowing, smarmy chuckle. A wave of revulsion rose in her. “And welcome back,” he added.
---
At the end of the day, Paulina dragged herself into the bar. It was the only one in the maintenance tunnels, and it was crowded at all hours of the day and night with workers nursing their drinks and swapping stories. As she collapsed into an empty seat near the back of the room, she felt herself start to unwind and relax. This was where she felt most comfortable--in the din and dimness of a crowd of people. After the harrowing experience of being pinned under the eyes of Mr. Amar and the foreman, she relished the chance to do the pinning instead.
Her eyes wandered around the room, pulling from one end of the bar to the other. Some of the women were playing cards, some of the men were arguing over who owed money to whom, and some of the others were watching the television. It was a dingy, black-and-white little thing, looking about twenty years past its prime. It was playing Shock 'Til You Drop, one of the ones Paulina recognized as a rerun, and most of the folks at the bar were whooping and hollering whenever the contestant managed to weather another of Sparker's electric shocks.
Only one man at the bar was silent. His eyes narrowed, and his mouth pulled tight into a barely restrained grimace. Oh, now this was a kindred spirit.
Paulina grabbed her glass of water and shoved herself into a gap between the barstools. "That show's on almost every night," she said. "You like it?"
"Not…" the man cast his gaze from the television down into his glass. "Not very much."
"Me neither," Paulina said, nudging him with her elbow. "Somethin' about that guy just rubs me the wrong way."
The man looked up at her for the first time. His eyes had deep hollows under them, as if he hadn't slept a wink, and his voice was hoarse. But his fingers tightened around the glass with a strong grip, and his features hardened, even as his voice betrayed his curiosity.
"You mean Bob Sparker?" he asked.
Paulina nodded. She watched him, and he watched her. For a moment, they traded stares. And then the man gave way once more, looking down again. And he admitted: "I don't like him much either."
Jackpot. Paulina leaned over, curious. "You know him?" she asked.
"Do you?"
"I met him once or twice, back when I worked up top." On the television screen, Bob Sparker cavorted around the stage, cackling with laughter as he threw the switches to the electric chair. "I tried to give him some…career advice, but he just blew me off. Ungrateful, if you ask me."
The man blinked. "Hey, the same thing happened to me. Well…sort of. He was ungrateful, that's for sure."
"You wanna talk about it?"
"Well…" He fingered his glass, drained it, and then confessed: "I used to know him growing up. We used to be…best friends. But now that he's a big star, he completely blew me off. Acted like he didn't owe me anything. Like I was just some big burden to him." The words came out quickly, in a rush. "It makes me so mad, when folks go up top and then suddenly they're too good for--"
He heaved a sigh, shuddering, and put his hand over his eyes. "For the rest of us," he finished. "Sorry. I guess I got worked up."
"Hey, don't apologize." She leaned over and patted the man on the shoulder. "I feel the exact same way. Those assholes like to just use people and throw them away," she lamented. "Just like me."
"Exactly." The man nodded. "You get it. You're the only person who does." He looked around, then leaned in. "Everyone else acts like they're gonna make it big someday. Like they're going to go to an audition once they get the time and the money, and then they'll be stars too. Can you believe that?"
Paulina laughed. "Delusional."
"Yeah," he said, echoing her. "Delusional."
Their laughter faded out, covered by the chatter of the bar. Paulina and the man looked at each other. She smiled. He smiled back. Slowly, he reached out a calloused hand.
"It's nice to meet you," he said. "I'm Sam Gale."
"Nice to meet you too," Paulina replied, grabbing his hand and shaking it heartily. "Name's Paulina Sweet. You know," she added slyly, "I think we might just get to be friends."
He invited her back to his dormitory, a small one-room apartment where some of the workers lived. He told her the whole sordid story there, and what a story it was--full of resentment, bitterness, despair, near-traffic collisions and even a fist fight, to boot. By coincidence, Samuel Gale's run-in with Bob Sparker had occurred only a few months before Paulina's, and they bonded over their shared hatred of the man. Paulina's hatred, however, was mostly a result of her professional rivalry; it was obvious that Gale's dark feelings came from a much deeper place in his psyche. The poor guy truly felt that he was owed Sparker's adoration, his attention, some small part of his golden shine, as payment for having once been his friend.
Paulina had absolutely no sympathy for him. But she did recognize an opportunity when she saw one.
"I used to live near him," Sam Gale said, his eyes dewy and dark. "But I can't go back up there anymore. The idea that I might see him again--it's been killing me."
"You been to a therapist?"
"No."
Good, she thought. She moved closer to him, slinging an arm around his shoulders. "Can you tell me something?" she asked. "If you did end up seeing him again, what would you want to…do to him?"
He buried his head in his hands, groaning. "I don't know. I don't want to fight him, not physically. I just…" He let out a deep sob. "My head and my chest keep pounding. I just want him to know how it feels. I just want him to understand how much it hurts."
"I know, pal. I know." Paulina patted his shoulder and pulled him close. "What if I told you I could get you on his show?"
Sam laughed and wiped at his face with his sleeve. "Don't bother," he said. "He already said I wouldn't be any good."
She leaned in, whispering. "I'll make you good," she said. "I'll make you a shockproof, voltproof machine."
"How? Cheating or something?"
"No, no cheating. That's the beauty of it," she explained. Slowly, a spark of life began to shine in Samuel Gale's eyes, and he looked up at her, blinking tears away. "We'll do it fair and square, so he can't ignore you anymore. You'll beat him on his terms, and then he'll have to give you your due. Would you like that?" she asked sweetly. "Does that sound good?"
His gaze lifted away, and he stared into the distance. Somewhere inside him, Paulina knew he was there on the stage, triumphant. "What would I have to do?" he asked.
"I tell you what." Paulina turned towards him and clasped his hands in her own, like a child sharing a secret. "I have some money saved up from…some side jobs I've been doing. What about you?"
"I think I might have some, too."
"Good, good." She patted his hands. "See, I'm a game show junkie. I have tapes of almost every program on TV, and the ones I don't have, I can get. We're gonna need to know everything about everything. Quiz shows, endurance shows, obstacle courses, guessing games. And I know a great gym we can train you at."
"Training? Quiz shows? But I thought we were just going to--"
"One step at a time, pal," Paulina snickered. "Consider me your game show coach. By the time you make it to Shock 'Til You Drop, you'll be more god than man. If you're prepared to give me a year of your life…"
She grinned terribly.
"I promise you that you'll bring Bob Sparker to his knees."

😏 Hey, it's me, back again. On my knees, begging for more filth. I want some post mountain grovelling. I want Geralt on his knees. One of Jaskier's hands in his hair, holding his head still. The fingers of Jaskier's other hand in Geralt's mouth. <insert Gopher gif here>
Forgiveness
Not exactly filth? There is smut... but it caught plot. For those wondering... Jaskier's hair and beard looks something like this.

______________
Fear was not something that Geralt was accustomed to feeling. The trials had made sure of that, but the trials were created with monsters in mind, not bards. There had been a time when being afeared of Jaskier would have seemed preposterous. The worst thing that could have happened was the bard getting too close to a fight and getting hurt because of Geralt, but even then, Geralt had never been scared of Jaskier, more scared for him. Losing Jaskier to the witcher’s way of life would have been unforgivable, so Geralt made sure it didn’t happen.
Jaskier was gone.
And yet he still wasn’t safe. Geralt had torn his own heart into pieces to keep Jaskier safe, and now fucking Nilfgaard was destroying everything. Rumour had it that the army were looking for Jaskier, looking for a way to Geralt and to Ciri. So it was time for Geralt to swallow his pride and make amends. He’d travelled to Oxenfurt with his young ward in tow to search for his dearest friend, the man he’d broken. Ciri had been a surprising blessing in his life. Just like Jaskier, she had brought light to his life when there had been none, and he was beginning to realise that isolating himself did not make him stronger. His friends, brothers, lovers were more deadly than any sword or sign. Alone he was just one man, motivated by survival and a sense of duty.
For Ciri he would tear down the Continent.
For Yennefer he would climb the highest mountain.
For Jaskier…
He sighed. For Jaskier he would break his own heart, and for Jaskier he would try to make it right again.
It was more terrifying than any manticore or griffin.
A knock on the door, that’s all it would take. Instead he was just lurking outside the office, an elaborate “Professor Pankratz” painted in fine golden calligraphy on the panelling. Geralt pinched the bridge of his nose, every instinct he had was telling him to run, take Ciri back to Kaer Morhen for the winter and leave Jaskier. Surely no harm would come to him at the academy.
“Are you going to stare at my door all day, Geralt, or shall we go inside?”
Geralt’s eyes widened as he spun around to face his friend. He hadn’t heard Jaskier’s voice in years but there was no mistaking the lilting accent and the playful way that he spoke. No one else spoke quite like Jaskier. The bard’s voice may not have changed but Geralt was taken aback by Jaskier’s appearance. His hair, which had always been short and scruffy in the decades that Geralt had known him, was now long, the ends ticking just below his chin. The long locks were tucked behind one ear, and his fringe had grown out. But it was the beard that really drew Geralt’s attention. He’d never realised that Jaskier could grow a beard, he’d never even seen the bard with stubble before, and yet here was Jaskier sporting a thick beard that was as rich in colour as his hair, no sign of any grey despite his age.
He looked beautiful.
Piercing icy blue eyes burned with cool fire, and Geralt was reminded why this trip had worried him. Jaskier had been his most loyal friend, and despite his profession, the bard was dangerous. His tongue was sharp and his temper was short, for Lillit’s sake, he’d even tried to condemn a man to death with the blasted Djinn.
“Well? Come on, witcher, get inside or get out,” Jaskier said with the cool authority of the professor he had become. Gone was the eighteen year old fool that Geralt had met in Posada.
“Right, yes,” Geralt grumbled and stepped aside so that Jaskier could open the door. He trailed in after the bard, feeling very much like a dog with his tail between his legs.
“I never expected to see you at my door, Geralt,” Jaskier muttered as he busied himself around the room, sorting out his books and scrolls from his satchel, carefully placing his ink bottles on the messy desk, and shrugging out of his teaching robes.
Underneath the dark robes, he was wearing an elegant dark green doublet with matching breeches, gold thread stitching at the seams. To Geralt’s surprise, the bard's doublet was fully buttoned, hiding both the chemise and the mass of chest hair that Geralt knew was underneath the emerald fabric.
“I never expected to come,” Geralt admitted.
“Excellent, now you can leave again, it was good to see you old friend. Close the door on your way out.”
Jaskier’s words stung, a dagger between his ribs, poison running through his veins, but Geralt couldn’t give up, not without a proper fight. “I came to apologise.”
“Oh, ho, ho, that’s rich, witcher. What’s next? You’ll go and fetch your Child Surprise?”
“Ciri,” Geralt mumbled.
That seemed to have an effect, Jaskier froze, his back to Geralt. The bard slowly spun round and peered at Geralt. “So you finally found her?”
“I did.”
“Well, I’ll be damned,” Jaskier sighed, pushing his hair from his face and scratching idly at his beard. “Did she mention me?”
“She did.”
“So, tell me Geralt, are you here because you want to apologise, or because the princess demanded it?” Jaskier’s tone was sharper than any witcher sword, this was the man who had destroyed a knight’s honour with a few well-placed rhymes and catchy songs just because he had insulted Geralt, and Geralt wasn’t used to being on the receiving end.
“Nilfgaard are coming, Jaskier. I couldn’t leave you in danger. They are looking for you, because of me.”
Jaskier scoffed, throwing his arms up, almost knocking an ink bottle flying. “Nilfgaard, wow. Yup, yes, should have expected that.”
“I’m here to protect you,” Geralt growled, “and- and because I miss you.”
“Miss me?” Jaskier hissed, stepping forward so that there was barely any space between them, his sweet chamomile scent now flooding Geralt’s senses. “You should have led with that, witcher.”
“I-”
“Fine, you want to apologise. On your knees, grovel. I won’t follow you blindly again, Geralt. I need to know you won’t hurt me. You want to protect me?”
“Yes,” Geralt answered without hesitation.
“Then know that no one on this Continent has ever hurt me like you did on that fucking mountain. Forgiveness will take time,” Jaskier said haughtily, and Geralt dropped to his knees. He finally saw Jaskier’s rage for what it was; a shield. Jaskier was trying to protect himself… from Geralt.
“I am sorry, Jaskier,” Geralt said, his voice shaking but sincere. “I only ever meant to protect you. I lashed out. I was hurting after Yennefer. I shouldn’t have said those things to you, but-”
“Hollow excuses.”
“But I was scared,” Geralt finally glanced up, and oh what a sight. Jaskier was looming above him, his hair almost coppery in the candle light. He looked like a messenger from the gods. “My life is a dangerous one. I fucked up Yennefer’s life with one breath, how could I possibly risk doing the same for you?”
“You already did.”
“But you’re alive,” Geralt whispered quietly.
“I would have rather died, Geralt,” Jaskier hissed.
“Don’t be so dramatic, bard.”
“If it meant giving up my life with you. Life with you was the greatest adventure, there was never a dull moment. I got to live every single day. Now look at me, I’m trapped in a cage without the best friend I’ve ever had,” Jaskier spat. “So you’ll have to do better than that.”
Geralt lowered his gaze once more. He was running out of options, but there was one more card that he held close to his heart, rarely even admitting it to himself. They say that love can conquer anything. It hadn’t been true for him and Yen, but perhaps the sorceress had been right and their love was just an illusion created by his wish and the spell she’d cast on him.
“I love you,” he whispered, loud enough for human ears to hear but still a quiet admission, one he’d never said out loud before.
Jaskier didn’t say anything. Instead, there was a gentle tug at Geralt’s hair as Jaskier pulled the tie from its place. Geralt stayed still, letting his words hang in the air. The bard’s fingers began to gently run through Geralt’s hair, each touch sending warm tingles down his spine, and he felt his breathing relax almost into a meditative state. Jaskier had done this before when they were on the path, braiding Geralt’s hair whilst he meditated, but this felt different, there had never been this spark burning between them before.
There had never been those words lying heavy on Geralt’s tongue before. “I love you, Jask,” he repeated, his voice more slurred this time and he felt almost as if he had been drugged, his head feeling foggy. The haze got thicker with every stroke of Jaskier’s hand through his hair.
“Oh, dear heart,” Jaskier cooed, his voice sounding almost like a dream. “You have no idea how long I’ve yearned to hear those words.”
“I’m sorry,” Geralt mumbled. “Forgive me, Julek.”
“In time, my darling, in time,” Jaskier breathed, his scent sweeter now, something akin to arousal. It was hard to tell through the fuzziness in Geralt’s head.
There was a low whine, that Geralt vaguely registered as coming from him. Heat was beginning to thrum through his body, and he slowly realised that at some point he’d shut his eyes, completely submitting to his bard in his attempts to earn Jaskier’s forgiveness. He felt Jaskier’s fingers cupping his cheek, hooking under his chin. Geralt whimpered as he struggled to open his eyes.
“There you are, Geralt,” Jaskier whispered, “apology accepted, dear heart.”
“Jask…”
“I know, I know, I’m here,” the words washed over Geralt like a warm breeze.
“I- I- want…” Geralt didn’t know what he was asking for or what he wanted, but his head was spinning and suddenly the hand in his hair wasn’t enough. He’d gone so long without seeing Jaskier, and now that they weren’t together, it was like a dam had broken. All the things he’d been denying himself for years…
“Shh, Geralt, I’ve got you,” Jaskier hummed, and before Geralt could protest, he felt the press of Jaskier’s fingers at his lips. Eagerly, Geralt opened his lips, taking the digits into his mouth and sucking gently. He gazed up at his bard, drunk on the feeling of his own arousal.
Geralt had never seen Jaskier in his element at Oxenfurt before but the calm way in which Jaskier commanded the room was enticing. This was Jaskier’s office, his space. Geralt was the guest here, not the other way round. Usually Jaskier had to fit into Geralt’s life, but now it was Geralt’s turn, kneeling at the professor’s feet, a willing student, begging for another chance.
“Geralt?” Jaskier asked, cocking his head so that his long hair fell in front of his eyes. “Do- do you want this?”
Geralt hummed around Jaskier’s fingers, nodding his head. It felt like a stupid question. How could he not want this? It was everything he’d never let himself dream of. He tried to say yes, but the word was muffled by Jaskier’s fingers.
“Gods, darling, you look so beautiful like this,” Jaskier cooed, and there was a sharp tug in Geralt’s head. He moaned around Jaskier’s fingers, vaguely aware that his cock was now painfully hard in his trousers. “That’s it, my love, sing for me.”
Geralt moaned again, sucking at the fingers in his mouth, enjoying the weight on his tongue. He’d never done anything like this before, but with Jaskier it just felt right. When he’d come to Oxenfurt he hadn’t expected anything like this to happen. He’d been praying to whatever gods were listening that Jaskier would forgive him, anything more than that had been an impossible dream. Geralt’s eyes fluttered shut and he hummed happily, shifting his weight until he was in a more comfortable position, the one he used for meditating. Like this, he could sit at Jaskier’s feet for hours should the bard wish.
But instead, Jaskier pulled his fingers from Geralt’s mouth. The emptiness left an ache deep inside Geralt that he hadn’t expected, but Jaskier’s other hand cupped his cheek, tilting his head so he was forced to look up at the bard. There was an undeniable fondness in Jaskier’s eyes, and between the beard and the extra weight he’d put on now that he was settled at Oxenfurt, he looked so warm… cuddly.
And Geralt wanted him.
“Can I- do you want my cock?” Jaskier stumbled over the words, a break in his previously mask of calmness. “We don’t- it’s just a suggestion…”
“Yes,” Geralt breathed, gazing up at the man he loved. In fact, he could think of nothing he wanted more in that moment. He swallowed, his mouth dry as he shuffled forward to nuzzle against the bulge in Jaskier’s trousers. Jaskier groaned as Geralt mouthed at his erection through the fabric. “Please, Jaskier.”
“Go on then, witcher, please me.”
Geralt’s fingers shook as he untied the lacing at the front of Jaskier’s trousers, and they moaned in unison as he finally took the tip of Jaskier’s cock into his mouth, the taste of precum bitter on his tongue.
“Gods, Geralt, I never thought I’d see the day…”
Geralt just hummed, licking at Jaskier’s slit before bobbing his head, slowly taking more into his mouth. There was another tug at his hair and he hummed, relaxing into his movements as Jaskier slowly began to rock his hips, gently thrusting into Geralt’s mouth. All the while, a steady stream of soft praises fell from the bard’s lips. Geralt had never felt particularly aroused from sucking cock before, but at Jaskier’s feet, the gentle words lingering in the air and the rhythmic touch of fingers caressing through his hair, he was closer to cumming than he thought possible.
He gasped as he pulled back, biting back a moan as he rested his head on Jaskier’s thigh. “I- Jask, fuck…”
“Shall I take you to bed, darling?” Jaskier cooed, gently pulling Geralt to his feet.
His legs were shaking and he fell into his bard's waiting arms, burying his nose in the crook of Jaskier’s neck. Geralt hummed as he kissed Jaskier’s neck, the soft bristles of the bard’s beard warm against his skin. “Your beard is soft,” he murmured, running his lips along the edge of the beard until they were ghosting over Jaskier’s lips, a tease of a kiss yet to come.
Jaskier laughed, pressing their foreheads together. “The luxuries of Oxenfurt, my dear witcher.”
“Smells good too,” Geralt hummed, finally capturing Jaskier’s lips in a chaste kiss. The bard moaned quietly and his fingers dug into Geralt’s side, pulling him closer. “Smells like home.”
After a few moments of being lost in each other, Jaskier finally took Geralt’s hand, lacing their fingers together and leading him through the office to the bedroom that lay beyond. They had a long way to go before Geralt was truly forgiven but this was a start.
This was their start, their new beginning, a new chapter in their adventure.

Would you write for John McGinn? anything at all for him haha
you got me
a nasty breakup brings you to the door of the aston villa player, ready to welcome you once again with open arms full of love.
Tumblr media
Whistling to himself as he walks from his bathroom to the kitchen of his home, John towel dries off his hair when his doorbell sounds through the house. His immediate reaction is one of question. He tilts his head, furrows his brows and wracks his brain for a memory of potentially making plans that he had then completely forgotten about. Instead, he begins to wonder if there was a chance he had leaked his address and would be met with paparazzi or fans standing on his doorstep. The villa player draws blank on both of those thought processes, and is snapped from them when the a harsh knocking accompanies the sound of said doorbell.
His feet hurry him towards the door, taking the opportunity to look at the doorbell footage he could access from the little alarm box on the wall just next to it. His eyes are met with you standing on his porch dripping from the rain, shivering in soaked clothes and very possibly crying.
He reaches for the door immediately, tugging the heavy thing open with eyes wide, "Bloody hell, you have a key!" He exclaims, ushering you in as he removed his hair towel from around his neck to drape over your shoulders while you close the door behind you. Your lips are a little blue from the winter chill that had blown the cold rain through your clothes. "Forgot it." You chitter, entire body shivering with the painful force to try and conserve some form of heat.
John grabs a bigger towel, one that's much softer and warmer. "Strip off," he orders hurriedly, turning his back to go back into the kitchen and see if he left any clothes in his dryer from the load he put in earlier. "Sh-shouldn't you take me t-t-to dinner first?"
Your half hearted, shivering attempt at a joke doesn't make him laugh like it usually would. He turns around to shoot you a disapproving scowl. "I'll get you some warm clothes, get dried."
You do as told, or attempt to. It's hard when you can't feel your fingers to get a grip on anything more than the zipper of the zip up hoodie you'd had on. You try to shake the material from your shoulders, but your whole body is stiff with the tight muscles that the freezing temperatures had inflicted upon you.
"You'll end up with hypothermia," John rushes, dropping the warm clothes down on the cabinet by the door where you still stand, surrounded by a puddle of rainwater. He works quickly, but carefully to shed you of the zipper, then looks to you for permission to lift your t-shirt over your head. He hands you the warm, dry towel to cover yourself with so he can unclip your soaked bra. Shoes off next, he discards them off behind him as water literally pools from them. You keep that towel around you, patting at your skin as he tries to get your leggings off as painlessly as possible, but every touch still hurts. Your pants, you insist on doing by yourself even if it is a struggle while John holds up the towel.
He didn't bother to even make an attempt at pulling the hair bobble out of your hair, John just snaps the thin black band wordlessly, easily between his fingers before he orders you to flip your hair so he can tied it in another warm towel.
"Why were you out in that?" He asks as he sits you down in his cosy living room with a new, drier towel. You're still chittering, which is worrying but John had learned a lot from coaches behaviours towards the teams when they come off after games played on nights like these. "It's negative 6 degrees."
Warming up was the most important thing, just not too quickly.
You avert your eyes from his, chewing slightly on your lip. "(y/n)," John presses, moving to occupy the space on the couch next to you. You sit forward on the couch so you both sit shoulder to shoulder, his head turns to you while yours faces the floor. "David kicked me out, I didn't have my keys and my phone wasn't charged so I couldn't call you. Busses were off for the weather and the snow covered the train lines yesterday, plus I don't have any money with me so I was scuppered there too. I did some grovelling at the door then I walked here when he wouldn't let me back it."
John's jaw all but hits the floor as anger infiltrates the worry coursing through his veins.
"Don't..." you sigh, trailing off as you stand up with a loose shake of your head. "Don't look at me like that John. I'm gonna go get changed."
The sound of your bare feet padding off through his house holding the warmed pile of his clothes he gave to you was one that he would certainly like to get used to, but you had both done this dance so many times he knew it wasn't something he could count on. Usually you'll call him though, or he'll go and pick you up after a mutual breakup. You've never come on no notice and it's never been because of something like this. John hadn't heard from you in a few weeks either, you had his mind reeling.
Even more so when you reappeared, dry hair tied back out of your face with his grey joggers and black t-shirt drowning you in its size. They were him homebody comfy clothes, so they were bought to be even a little big on him. He had to admit they looked a lot better on you, though.
In the time you were gone, John had made hot chocolate and brought through his biscuit tin to sit on the couch between you both. Words weren't deemed necessary to find a movie he knew you would like. That and he knew you didn't want to talk, so even if he tried it would have been like trying to have a conversation with a brick wall.
He keeps looking over at you, trying to do so discreetly by flicking his eyes over in your direction. Those little giggles at Hugh Grants exasperated facial expressions while James Can disposes of a body in a trunk in the 1999 rom com you loved so much. The movie is good, but your reactions to every time you watch it just like each time is the first time. John can't understand why a man would ever do anything that would wipe that little grin off your perfect lips. How anyone could ever put anyone out on their doorstep in a  storm like that, but least of all someone who was supposed to love you. If it were up to John, you would have been wrapped in a blanket the second the rain pour started, curled in his arms falling asleep to the sound of the thunder rumble and the rain pattering against the street. That was his dream, the one he couldn't keep a girlfriend because of. All he wanted was you and nobody else ever lived up to that.
He wishes he could scream at you, tell you that those very sorry excuses for men that you end up with and what you have with them isn't love. Or maybe you do love them, but they do not love you. They like the idea of you, someone free spirited and always ready to fall in love.
It truly seemed as though you could fall in love with anyone but the one man who wanted you the most.
Watching you fall asleep on his couch, head resting on the high armrest with knees curled up and his blanket still tucked around you with a tiny little bit of chocolate on the corner of your lip sends his heart racing a mile a minute. It feels so right to have you there. He feels guilty for enjoying it. Your heart was broken even if you wouldn't say a word about it and here he was enjoying it.
He uses his foot to push open the spare bedroom door just along the hall from his room. John lays you down carefully on top of the duvet, letting your head nuzzle into his plush pillows as your eyes remain shut in soft sleep. He grabs another blanket for you and makes sure the heating is right up in the room before he leaves you there with an ache in his chest.
He goes to check on you in the middle of the night, finding you not in the room but instead standing in his kitchen still shrouded in blankets with crazy sleep hair and tired eyes.
“Can’t sleep?” He asks, startling you ever so slightly. You shrug, moving to take a seat at his kitchen island. “Woke up and got all messed up thinking about how i have literally nothing.” You mumble in response, your voice thick with the desire to burst into tears. It breaks his heart to see you so defeated, your eyes never meeting his as they stare pointedly down at the marble surface. “I’m sorry.” John says, “Really. He’s an arsehole. I can go round and grab some stuff for you tomorrow if you want.” He offers, his apology as sincere as they come. But you shake your head with only a quick glance up at him. John isn’t hot tempered at all. He’s mellow, easygoing and funny. Never quick to anger and never the type to get into a fight but by god is he protective of you. You worry about the kind of blow that would come to his career if he gets an assault charge against your ex when he inevitably doesn’t let John into the house to get any of your stuff while probably barraging you with insults.
“It’s not worth it.” You admit. “It’s less physical. Just leaves me empty, i guess. ‘Cause i gave everything to that relationship and how i have nothing left to give.” The heartbreak and the weight of your words will weigh on John’s mind probably for years to come. How someone could do that to you he will never understand. There’s nothing he wants more in this world than for you to be his to love. He wants to shower you with praise, make you realise how strong you are and remind you every single day that he loves you. That’s what you deserve. You deserve kindness and encouragement and support. He wishes more than anything to be the guy who could give that to you instead of watching you enter into relationships with the worst men he’s ever known only to see you torn down at the other side of it.
“You’ve got me.” He offers. He knows that’s probably not what you want to hear and it might not give you the kind of relief he wishes he could give. But you smile softly and stand up, shuffling over to him under blankets and his warm clothes until you reach him. You don’t really hug him, just lean against him with your cheek on his chest. John wraps his arms around you tightly and feels you sigh contently. He’s your John. The burly Scottish lad who makes you laugh when you feel like crying, who looks after you and keeps you pushing forward when life feels like it’s stacked against you. “Yeah. I love you, John.” You hum softy. John can feel the small smile on your lips against the thin material of the shirt he wore to sleep in because his house was like a sauna with the heating to keep your warm. He can tell you’re about to fall asleep there because he supports most of your weight. He holds you to him, rubbing your back soothingly as you nod ever so slightly against him.
“Even when i’ve got nothing, i’ve got you.”

Keeping Up With Seijoh Ep. 6
a/n: DKFJSLDKFSJ OMG YOU GUYS IVE LTR BEEN LOOKING FORWARD TO THIS FOR SO LONG AACCKKK!!!!!! AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
also, omg im screeching bc BAHAHAHA THERE IS GOING TO BE A SLIGHT PLOT TWIST YOU GUYS!!!!!
for more seijoh content, check this masterlist out!
anon:
- Ever since yn got lost during a trip to another school, the team made the rule that she has to hold one of their hands. Its probably so small compared against the boys. She got lost cause babie saw a cat
Tumblr media
SKDLFJLSDKFJ EWWWWWWWW IM SCREECHING IN DISGUST RIGHT NOW LIKE THATS SO DIS COS TANG OIKAWA TOORU LIKE LEAVE MY GUY ALONE!!!!!!! #LETMAKKILIVE
lmao yep this is really happening
okay so anyways
you guys know how seijoh is like known around the prefecture right?
and we all know that nekomata and old ukai are like besties so they were talking over the phone right
and nekomata was complaining that his players were already fed up with playing against the same people and they wanted to be challenged and wanted new exposure to other players and all that jazz
old ukai was cackling at the other side bc haha youre actually begging me to find you new teams now?
but anyways
theyre like besties forever so ofc old ukai would help
and by help, he turned to poor zaddy keishin and told him to look for teams that could be sent up to tokyo and play against nekoma
‘what?! im already busy and i dont have time to scout-’
‘YOU WATCH YOUR TONGUE BOY! I CREATED YOUR FATHER AND WITHOUT HIM, YOU WOULDNT BE HERE TODAY!’
‘BOLD OF YOU TO ASSUME I WANTED TO BE ALIVE IN THE FIRST PLACE!’
family goals 😍😍😍
but keishin still listened to his grandfather and recommended seijoh as being the one to go as they are one of the hardest to beat opponents in the preferecture
but its more like he wants to hear about nekoma being destroyed by oikawa’s service aces and grovel at their feet since naoi always made fun of them saying country boys arent as good as city boys
LIKE PLEASE
anyways!!!!!!
nekomata got word of it and immediately phoned aoba johsai and talked to the coach
‘yes, i heard from an old friend of mine that you are quite strong’
nekomata praised, wanting and desperate to have them come up
‘and do you think your team is good enough to beat us?’
LMAO YESSSS GRANDPA IRIHATA!!! DRAG THEM KITTIES!!!!
WAIT NO THAT SOUNDS WRONG
but they settled on their disagreements and decided yep they were going to go up there and have a practice match
however
irihata and nekomata wanted their boys to be kept in the dark about who this team is as knowing them, they have sources to find them tapes of old plays
they wanted it to be a fair match
even the managers were being kept from it as they could easily be influenced by the players for that information
irihata walked into the gym and announced a team meeting to which they stopped
you sat down next to kyotani, who pulled you beside him and wrapped a protective arm around your waist
‘we have a practice match against a prominent team up in tokyo in 3 days. make sure you have your plays right and pat down as they are known to be quite an opponent’
the boys shouted a determined cheer and they all hussled back to practice
you were running around, tending to everyone with towels or medical tape
once you finally sat back down on the bench, you noticed your phone screen light up, indicating someone sent you a message
it was natsu
you swiped open and smiled softly at his picture
it a selfie of him in front of his school as you told him to send you a picture that he arrived safely
‘got here in one piece since im not ready to meet daddy satan yet’
i hate him you guys
after receiving news of his mother gaining custody of him, he cheered and was able to go back to tokyo without his father in the picture
lets just say,,, hes not nice
anyways
you were sad to let him go but you understood he missed his friends and his almost-boyfriend so you were able to say goodbye easily at the station
‘gross but im pretty sure katsuki would blow satan to smithereens’
‘hehe ;) he would’
‘N A S T Y’
you cringed but giggled and the team noticed so they tried hard to gain your attention back on them
‘aaa!!!!! y/n-chan!!! my leg!!!!’
‘i think i chopped off my finger!!!!’
‘my head snapped off my body!!!!!’
you rolled your eyes and placed your phone down before walking over to mattsun to help him snap his head back on his neck
finally, it was the day of the match
you were arranged to stay the night at tokyo to have a few practice matches with this unknown team
the team was arranged to meet at the train station at 9:45 since the train leaves at 10
you arrived the earliest to keep track of everyone and just because you were actually kinda excited
theres this weird feeling in your stomach that isn’t exactly bad but its,,, giddy
you sat on the bench, waiting for the team
they all started arriving one by one and you were doing a headcount for everyone but you were missing one
you checked your phone and you noticed he was getting late
it was already 9:54
you hate it when people are late to meeting time so you were slightly irritated
you dialed up your captain’s number and you stood up, pacing around
‘hello~~~~ y/n-cha-’
‘oikawa-san! do you know what time it is?! you were arranged to come here at specifically 9:45 but its 14 minutes passed that so where the hell are you? you better have a good excuse you piece of-’
‘aww y/n-chan oikawa-san is sorry’
someone whispered in your ear from behind and you flinched, surprised at the sudden person
oikawa wrapped an arm around your waist while his other hung up the call and you turned around, arms crossed while pouting at him
‘sorrysorrysorry!’
he apologized and you rolled your eyes
‘i swear, oikawa-san. if i find out it was because of your hair again-’
‘oi shittykawa! your sister just called me and you left the curling iron on, you stupid bastard!’
iwaizumi’s shout made oikawa sweat and pale
your eyes glinted dangerously
‘this is the last straw, oikawa-san’
you growled and he shot down to his knees and was about to start praying to you when the coach decided he had enough entertainment for the day and called everyone to gather around
‘heres your tickets. this train will get us there around lunch time so dont worry about getting hungry’
the shinkansen train had 2-person seating so everyone fought secretly amongst each other to sit next to you
literally, their private group chat was blowing up until early this morning at the shouts and yells of everyone caps locking their arguments as to why they deserve to sit next to you
the only one who didnt was mattsukawa issei
bc quite frankly, he didnt care who he sat next to and although it sounds nice to be next to you, he isnt exactly the comfiest to sleep on due to the obvious size difference
lmao like your head probably wouldnt reach his shoulders bruh
now youre not oblivious
or blind
so you noticed the glares of everyone as you all stood for the train to come
and you also noticed mattsun just standing there, bored, so you sneaked over to him, wrapping your arms around him
‘arent you excited, mattsun-san?’
he gasped quietly at your sudden appearance but he smirked
‘its nothing special. just another team that we’re going to beat’
you giggled at his confidence and you walked in front of him so you could properly be held by him
it was practically second nature now by the way he just opened his arms and you crashed into them, his own wrapping around your shoulders to hold you tight
‘i love your confidence so much mattsun-san’
he flushed red and furrowed his eyebrows, head turning to the side to hide the obvious effect you had on him
‘whats the point of playing when you cant be confident’
‘aaaa why are you looking away mattsun-san!!!’
lmao when the team saw you sitting next to mattsun, they all felt so betrayed like bruh
ltr kyo and iwa were about to go feral
oikawa was like ready to screech his ass off but one look from you made him shut up
‘i sincerely, really, truly hope youre just complaining about the seat hurting your flat ass, oikawa-san’
KDFJLSDKFJSDL Y/N NO STOP IT
it was kinda funny actually bc everyone was all pouting and sulky while you just have mattsun who’s smirking like ‘beat that’
SDKFJLSDKF I LOVE MATTSUN’S SMIRK LIKE PLEASE OMG
ofc he let you sit at the window bc you love window seats
like iwa, he also pulls up the arm barrier thingy and you shuffle closer to him and mattsun practically combusts
the ride isnt expected to be very long but you still found yourself sleeping during it
mattsun has his arm around your shoulder while your head is leaning against his peck man boobie
omg its so cute like he actually slides lower on the seat to help you reach his shoulder and hes slouching and back is hurting just for you
;’)
he was awake the whole time bc he couldnt sleep with his heart beating so hard it might rip out of his chest
ew thats kinda gorey
your hand was gripping his own and to pass time, he found himself fiddling with your fingers
an unknown smile appeared on his face at the obvious size difference between yours and his
a finger traced different and foreign shapes just to feel the softness of your hand and he combusts again when you unconsciously squeeze his hand
mattsun couldnt help but bring your linked hands up and kiss the back of yours
it was soft, gentle, and his lips lingered there for more than a second
then a sudden feeling of fatigue washed over him and he leaned his cheek against the top of your head
the last thing he remembers is the smell of your f/s (favorite smell) shampoo
then you guys arrived in tokyo
irihata had to personally wake you all up because even naoi fell asleep and everyone fell asleep
irihata gently shook mattsun awake and when the boy opened his eyes, the older man nodded over to your form
‘gently wake her up’
as if mattsun didnt already know
thats why he softly ran the pad of his thumb on your cheek that was exposed to the air
‘y/n~~’
he coos and your nose twitches, in between the border of dreams and reality
‘darling, wake up, baby bear’
FSDKLFJSDLKSDJKFJDSKLFJSDLFKSJDLF YOU GUYS I CANNNNTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
also im listening to kataomoi by aimer  so that kinda influences the ‘darling
his deep voice that surprisingly reaches a level of quietness made your eyes flutter
your whole face scrunched at suddenly being woken up but the sight of mattsun’s genuine smile made you mirror it and cuddle closer for an extra dose of warmth
‘hmm, is my baby tired?’
he teasingly whispers and you nodded, snuggling even further and he gently cups your face
his hold had made your cheeks squeeze slightly together and your pout increased the cute factor
‘nwoooo dont skweeze demmm’
you slurred and he chuckled
‘hai hai’
‘kwiss it better’
you demanded and he full on laughed before moving his hands to your jaws so he could plant many kisses on your cheeks
the repeated kisses tickled so you giggled and squirmed
‘aaaaaa mattsun-san it tickles!!!’
your playful protests forced him to stop and allow you to actually sit up
as usual, your hair was a bird’s nest and mattsun attempted to settle it out
‘hah, y/n-chan your hair is like another being itself’
he choked out and you pouted at him
‘so mean! mattsun-san is so mean! baba-san! rescue me!!’
yahaba was known in the team to be the one who fixed your hair and you trusted him the most with it
hearing his name being called, the pretty boy dashed towards you and mattsun’s seats
‘is senpai giving you trouble again? come, honey, come to baba-san’
mattsun gave him a look for the younger’s passive agressive tone
oikawa immediately dashed over right next to yahaba
‘oh? y/n-chan! oikawa-san is here!!’
iwa and kyo growled
‘SHUT UP SHITTYKAWA!’
meanwhile irihata and naoi were just done
they just wanted to get off the train like is that such a big favor?
finally!!!!
seijoh was able to actually make it to the city and ngl, despite living in sendai, you were actually overwhelmed by the bustling city of tokyo
there were people all over the place and many cars and you were being pushed around
it didnt help that it was ltr lunch hour and a flurry of business people just flooded out of their buildings
you unconsciously gripped your bag and focused on just not tripping over people so your eyes were trained on your feet
then in the corner of your eye, you saw a tiny animal that was in danger of being stepped on so you ofc had to go chase after it
you shouted at some people to watch out and to not step on it
but then it disappeared
the moment you looked up, everyone was gone
you panicked and your head was turning from side to side
‘MATTSUN-SAN?! IWA-SAN?! KYO-SAN?!’
you shouted but it seems your voice wasnt loud enough
GIRL YOU GOTTA MANIFEST THAT BULLHORN VOICE
worry and dread bubbled inside of you but you stopped, just trying to calm down and think
then you saw the flash of white again so you hurriedly ran after it, not knowing that you were straying away from the city and towards the suburbs
you noticed you were now lost at the less amount of feet walking and this wasnt the city and you were now away from the team
taking yoru eyes off of the cat, you looked around to confirm your fear and that gave the cat an opportunity to disappear again
yoo crookshanks
huffing a curse, you pulled your phone out of your bag and dialed each
your phone wasnt reaching the boys and no one was picking up
what the heck
you ended up at some quieter and less crowded spot
like a neighborhood
you contemplated calling natsu as he lived in tokyo but tokyo was a big city and you were at some neighborhood so its highly unlikely he would know where you are
so you just walked around, looking for a place to sit and think like a park
then you heard a distressed meow
you were just walking and hearing that loud cry of help made you stop and immediately follow the sound
‘kitty? kitty?’
you called out even though you knew fully well they didnt understand you
but the cat cried even louder and you heard another cat
it was less higher pitched and honestly, you just felt like there was another cat
as you looked around, you saw the same cat you followed after and it bobbed its head at you as if asking you to follow him
‘you want me to go with you?’
the cat blinked then turned around and started walking
‘okay then’
you took the time to inspect the actual color of the cat
it was dominantly white furred but it had multiple colored spots, mainly yellow and brown
you eventually ended up at a large tree with a cat shivering on the biggest branch
it was black and had some fur sticking out at the top of its head and it looked young so its probably a kitten
you tutted and reached out your hand but it recoiled, hissing at you
BOI SHE TRYING TO HELP YOU WHAT
‘hey, i want to help you’
you softly said and maybe youre just doctor dolittle?
bc it stopped hissing and started whining instead
‘kenma-san! i swear i saw it just now-’
a sudden foreign voice made the black haired cat hiss again and this time, even you were counted as a threat
the appearance by the corner of two boys made you glare at them
one was freakishly tall with grey hair and scary green eyes while the other was shorter and had bleached hair that grew out
they both wore running shorts and black shirts and they looked like they were on a run or something
then you had a thought
this guy was tall
he could help
‘hey! you!’
you waved and the boys stopped, eyes wide
they pointed to themselves and you nodded
‘yes, silly! especially the tall one!’
the other had a flash of a glare that disappeared almost immediately but the ‘tall one’ happily skipped over
‘oho, hello chibi-chan’
KDFJSLDFKSDJLFDKSJ YES IM CONDENSCENDING
you puffed your cheeks out in anger at the nickname but this was not the time
‘that kitty up there is stuck. and i cant help it because its scared. and its all the way up there’
you pointed and he nodded
‘i followed that cat here too but i needed someone else. thats why i brought kenma-san’
your eyes shifted to ‘kenma-san’ who was focused on the other cat who also stared back at his spot by the tree
hmmm, they look kinda similar
‘well! we need to help it,,,,,, grandpa-san!’
taken aback by the nickname, the tall guy gasped while the blonde boy choked out a sudden laugh and you giggled
‘GRANDPA?!’
‘yea. you know cus you have gray hair’
you reasoned and he was about to retort when he stopped himself
‘no. we have more important matters in hand. kenma-san, come stand on my shoulders. chibi, use my jacket to catch it if it falls’
you scrambled to do your task but you heard kenma-san mumble
‘you cant tell me what to do’
‘oh hey! whats your name?’
you asked and the tall guy waved
‘im lev. haiba lev. first year’
‘kozume,,, kenma. im a second year’
‘oh! then nice to meet you! im l/n y/n!’
introductions had to be cut short as you all assembled
kenma wobbled while lev cringed at the obvious pain but they gritted their teeth and kenma lunged to grab the cat
but the cat jumped away, falling to the ground where it was caught safely by you
thankfully the jacket saved you from scratching but after a few soft whispers of reassurance, the kitty calmed down and it resulted in just shaking
‘its okay. we’re okay. i got you’
you were completely oblivious to the fact that kenma and lev were on the ground, bleeding after falling, or the shout at the distance
‘kenma! lev!’
‘Y/N-CHAN!’
you three turned to see two groups of boys coming from two directions
on the right had a guy with black hair similar looking to the cat on your arms
while the left had your familiar looking captain
‘oikawa-san!’
you shouted and he ran up, eyes wide with worry
‘where were you?! why did you run off?! you shouldn’t-’
he rambled but your eyes stopped at the appearance of your familiar pink-haired cousin
‘natsu?!’
you shrieked and he had an equally surprised expression
‘y/n?!’
he shouted
‘what-!’
he started but you beat him to it
‘why are you here?!’
you pointed to the people behind him
‘im,,, a manager. im a manager for my volleyball team’
‘volleyball,,,’
you trailed off
‘VOLLEYBALL?! NEKOMA?!’
you knew of your cousin’s school but you didnt think you guys would meet here
‘shes your cousin?’
someone piped up from the back and natsu nodded, still looking at you
‘oya? the apple doesnt fall far from the tree, then. hello gorgeous, the names kuroo tetsurou’
KSLDFJDSK I HATE THIS LIKE PLEASE HES JUST A NERD YET I WRITE HIM LIKE THIS I HATE MYSELF
‘HAH?! YOU BACK OFF!’
kyotani started but you caught him in time, holding him in your arms
‘nooo,, calm down, kyo-san’
natsu’s nose crinkled and his mouth curled
‘ugh, nice to see you too, brat’
‘BRAT?! YOU BASTARD!’
‘IM A THIRD YEAR, YOU BASTARD!’
kyotani was held back by oikawa and iwa while your cousin was with that kuroo guy and lev
you hurried back to the rest of the team and they each glared at you but they had an obvious expression of relief
‘do that again y/n-’
‘i know, makki-san. youll use a leash backpack’
lets just say its not,,, the first time youve been lost
‘new team rule. youre holding someone’s hand at all times. no matter what, always hold us’
yahaba scolded and watari nodded
meanwhile, mattsun grabbed your hand and gripped it tight
‘youre never leaving my sight again’
his tone was different from his usual playful and teasing voice
you knew he was very worried and that made you feel really guilty
‘im sorry’
you whispered and he pulled you to him, hugging you tightly
‘its okay. youre here right now and thats all that matters’
you nodded and you turned your head, leaning on his chest to watch oikawa yelling and shouting at this kuroo guy while your cousin and kyo were arguing and you chuckled
this was,,, chaos
‘dear god, you shouldve let me be lost for a few more hours’
you mumbled, smiling lightly when mattsun’s chest vibrated as he laughed
‘take me with you next time’
‘i will’
you hummed
‘Y/N-CHAN! YOU ARE NOT GOING NEAR THIS-THIS MONGREL!’
oikawa screeched, stomping his way over to you
you smirked
‘oi kuroo-san! lets hang out after the match!’
oikawa screamed
a/n: now that my nekoma manager is out, i can finally have a manager x manager interaction and uwuwuwuwu just wait until i finish the others and ill do that req anon sent in ;) if you sent it in, you know what im talking about ;)

Chapter 9 -
Barry had managed to pull off the grand lie that he didn’t remember anything to Joe when he came in the room, but he didn’t know if he could do that repeatedly, and he knew he’d have to if he stayed at his own place after leaving presumably the next day. He could only guess that his powers were gone, since he’d been in the hospital overnight instead of just a few hours, and he didn’t know how long it would take for the severity of his injuries to recede. It’d been so long since he was…well, human.
“I know that look,” Linda said when she re-entered the room sometime later.
Barry quickly smoothed over his face and looked up at her.
“What look? And also, how? You haven’t known me long enough to know my looks.”
“Psh. I’m a reporter, which means I’m observant. I’ve been paying a lot of attention to you in the short time we’ve known each other. Trust me.”
He watched her suspiciously as she sat down on the chair beside his bed again.
“You’ll stay with me.”
He gawked. “Excuse me?”
“It’s obvious you’re terrible at keeping secrets.”
“I kept from Iris that I was in love with her until her wedding reception.” He paused. “I think.”
He couldn’t remember now. Did he confess his feelings before then in this timeline? Suddenly it was all very foggy.
“That’s different.” Linda brushed it aside. “That was a secret you wanted to keep. This one you don’t. And I’m the only one that knows. It just makes sense.”
“Linda, I appreciate the offer, but I’m not going to be fully healed by tomorrow. You’re going to have to…wait on me and stuff.”
She raised her eyebrows, amused.
“Nothing I can’t handle. Besides, how are you going to handle yourself if you just go home? Answer, you won’t. Joe will have to come over and then your little secret will probably come out.”
“You don’t know tha-”
“You’ll be at your weakest moment, and without me to interrupt a possible moment of secret spillage, well…”
He waited.
“It would be a disaster!”
“I don’t know how I’ll be on a couch, Linda…I’m still kind of fragile.”
She waved that off.
“Oh, don’t worry about that. I have a guest bedroom. You can stay in there. And I’m a very clean person too, so you don’t have to worry about tripping over anything.”
His brows furrowed.
“Why would I worry about that?”
She leaned in, an all-knowing look on her face.
“Are you a clean person?”
He managed to blush.
“Yeah, exactly.” She returned to her former position. “If I leave you to your own devices, you’d probably re-injure yourself. And even worse!”
“Okay, okay, fine, I’ll stay with you.”
“Good.” She smiled smugly.
“But we’ll have to stop at my place first, so I can get clothes and stuff.”
“No problem.”
“Have you talked to Scott yet? About…your employment?”
She winced. “I haven’t heard from him, but I’m very good at groveling, so I’ll be sure to do that first thing tomorrow morning.”
“And if it doesn’t work?”
“Worst case is…he suspends me, which I wouldn’t be a fan of but it would give me more time to wait on you, so that should excite you.”
Barry’s brows furrowed.
“You’re not afraid he’ll fire you?”
She snorted. “Uh, no. I’m too good of a reporter. He needs me. Plus, it’d be kind of a dick move, don’t you think? He escorts me home, only to fire me on my next workday?”
Barry attempted to shrug, but it hurt, and he winced.
“Use your words, Allen.”
His lips thinned. “I guess.”
“Look, I appreciate your concern, but you’re in a much worse state than I am. Maybe let me take care of you and not the other way around?”
“I said I’d stay with you, didn’t I?”
“Reluctantly,” she reminded him.
He frowned. “I still said it.”
Linda studied him for a few seconds longer before letting up.
“Alright, well, I guess I should go.” She started to get up.
“Wait, why?”
She hefted her purse onto her shoulder.
“To let you get some sleep? I’ll be back in the morning to get you settled at my apartment, no worries. Unless…you’re not afraid someone will come in and pummel you here? You don’t think Eddie…” She let the question hang.
Well, he hadn’t been until now.
“No, of course not,” he said, sounding as convincing as he could. “Go ahead home, Linda. It’s late.”
“It’s early is what you mean.”
He had no concept of time anymore, so his brows furrowed and asked the question for him.
“It’s early Sunday morning. You were out for hours when they brought you in last night.”
That stunned him, even if he did recall vaguely hearing about that.
“Oh,” he said, and that clearly worried her.
“Maybe I should stay…” She bit her bottom lip.
“No. No, Linda. Go home. Everyone else will probably go home, and if they don’t, I’ll insist they’re not in my room. Get some rest. Please. You’ll be dealing with me enough in the coming days.”
“Okay, if you’re sure.”
“So sure,” he assured her.
She pursed her lips.
“I’ll be fine. The monitors will go off if someone starts punching me again. Then the nurses will come running and soon after, the doctor. You have nothing to worry about.”
She eyed him carefully, but it was clear she’d started to agree with him.
“Alright.” She reached for his hand and squeezed it gently. “I’ll be back in the…later morning. Get some sleep.”
“You too.”
With one last pained smile, she finally turned away and exited the room. Then he was alone. No one else came in until a nurse some 20 minutes later. That nurse asked if he needed anything, and when he didn’t, she shut off the lights and said she’d check on him later.
That seemed fine to him.
He lay his head back on the pillow and did his best to fall asleep. Unfortunately, he dreamed.
At least he thought he did.
“Flash,” a dark, rumbly voice sounded beside him.
His eyes flung open. He couldn’t believe what he was seeing. There in his yellow speedster suit stood the Reverse Flash himself. He was vibrating at full speed.
“Missing your powers, are you?” He darkly chuckled.
Barry’s brows furrowed. He had a million questions, but his voice was stuck in his throat and he couldn’t get them out.
“If you think this is bad, it’s only the beginning.”
Then a crackle a lightning filled the room and the man in yellow was gone.
Barry’s eyes flung open again, and he was gasping for air. He couldn’t breathe.
Fumbling around with his free hand, he hit the red nurse’s button. The monitors must’ve been beeping really loud, because three nurses came in at once and quickly got him on oxygen. They stuck a needle in him too – something to calm him he guessed.
He blacked out. He didn’t dream this time. No hallucinations or visits from evil speedsters.
He was just out. For hours.
The steady beeping coming from the monitors woke him once. That and the light coming through the large window that the nurses must’ve forgotten to draw the shades over. Glancing at the clock across the room, he saw it was still early, 5 a.m., but he was okay now. He could breathe.
He was okay.
He didn’t tell Linda about the dream when she came to pick him up a few hours later, but he did reluctantly tell her about the whole not being able to breathe thing. He shouldn’t have, because it made her feel guilty for leaving. He was quick to reassure her though, and soon enough all the necessary paperwork was filled out, and he was allowed to go home with her.
They stopped at his apartment, which he only remembered because he had his phone on him and apparently at one point he’d put in his address along with the general contact information for himself.
Weird, but helpful in this particular instance.
It took some time to get all packed up, but Linda was good at that too, and she was fast on her feet.
“I’m glad I agreed to stay with you,” he finally said when they walked into her apartment about an hour later.
She turned to look at him and smiled.
“Me too.”
Things moved quickly after that. Linda showed him to the guest bedroom, which had a TV in it and some comic books on the bedside table. Superman, Spiderman, Iron Man, etc.
“Some light reading in case you get bored and the TV doesn’t entertain you enough,” she said when she caught him staring.
“Did you…have these or-?”
“Let’s say I did,” she said with a wink, and he knew that she’d gone out and bought some for his sake solely.
He chuckled and shook his head but got in the bed anyway, kicking off his shoes just before he did.
“Comfortable?” she asked, coming in moment later with a tray of breakfast food.
“I-” His jaw dropped. “Yes, thank you.”
He started to try sitting up and found he was in pain again.
“Ah-ah-ah, here you go.”
She set some pain meds on the bedside table and pulled a remote up from behind the bed.
“This bed is one of those adjustable ones. It’s like a hospital bed that way except way more comfortable. So you can lay all the way down and only have to press a button to sit yourself back up.”
“Wow, this is…this is really nice. Thank you, Linda.”
She smiled serenely.
“Any time, Barry Allen.” She picked up the tray that she’d set on the edge of the bed and laid it on his lap. “Now, be careful so nothing spills. I wouldn’t want to have to strip you of that warm comforter to clean it with you laying there.”
He shook his head and smiled.
“You really are a neat freak.”
She actually laughed at that.
“And proud of it. You’re welcome.”
He took a bit of the eggs on his plate.
“Mm, and a really good cook too.”
She rolled her eyes at that.
“It’s eggs and toast, Barry. This is no gourmet meal.”
“Still, you could’ve burned it,” he said, and then wished he could’ve taken it back.
He managed not to frown in front of her though, which was a win because then she’d ask why and he’d have to explain something other than in another life Iris was his fiancée and she couldn’t cook to save her life, but he’d take her burnt toast instead of Linda’s excellent cooking if it meant he could have Iris back in his arms again.
Unfortunately for him, he stayed silent too long even without the change in facial expression.
“What?”
He shook his head and hoped she wouldn’t push.
“Nothing.”
“Right, well, I should get dressed and get to work. I’ll check on you at lunchtime – or sooner if I’m suspended. Just text me if you need me.”
“Will do. Thank you, again.”
“Any time.”
She smiled brilliantly and left the room. He heard the shower run on the other side of the apartment and heard her move around the kitchen in her heels. Then some time after that, he heard the door open, close, and lock and knew she had gone.
He set the trap on the other side of the bed after he’d finished eating and used the remote to lay back down again. He wanted to get some decent sleep that didn’t involve being attached to tubes and cords in a hospital bed. This was a really nice set-up Linda had made for him here, and he planned on taking advantage of every part of it.
He slept for a few hours and then was unexpectedly roused by the sound of soft knocking on the main door to the apartment. He frowned, unsure if he’d heard it or not. Then a familiar voice sounded on the other side of the door and awoke Barry fully immediately.
“Barry? Barry, are you in there?”
Given how at odds they were at the moment, he had planned to ignore Iris should she try to talk to him again about Eddie. That was the last thing he needed, and besides, he was in pain. He shouldn’t have to get up when he was feeling like this.
How she’d even figured out he was staying here was beyond him too. Unless Linda had told her. But why would she when she’d invited him so he wouldn’t be bombarded by Joe.
And then suddenly he knew why.
“Barry?” She sniffled.
He tensed up and immediately went into protective best friend mode. She was crying.
Gingerly he got out of the bed as smoothly as he could, wincing as he went, but he made it. Down the hall he went, and peeking into the peep hole before opening to make sure she was still there, which she was, he opened it and stared at all the crestfallen beauty before him.
“Iris, what are you doing here?”
She swallowed hard.
“Linda told me you were here. I begged her to. I knew she knew and-”
“Iris-”
She huffed out some air and dabbed at her damp cheeks.
“Can I come in?”
He stepped to the side to let her in and shut the door behind her.
“Wow, this place is clean,” she commented, briefly thwarted from telling the reason of her visit.
“Iris,” he redirected her.
She spun around to face him.
“Oh, Barry, I’m so…so sorry. I…” She shook her head. “There will never be enough words to apologize for what I was asking of you when you were injured. I mean, you still are injured. And to put him first,” she scoffed at herself. “I know he’s my husband, but-”
“Iris.”
He reached forward with one hand and gripped one of her shoulders. It seemed to calm her somewhat. She caught his gaze.
“He did it, Barry.”
His brows furrowed. “I…don’t understand. Who did what?”
She swallowed again.
“Eddie. He went back after you had blacked out and…” Her bottom lip quivered. “He’s the reason you were in the hospital.”

Stripped -  (Yahya x Black OC)
Sweet Thang Series - Chapter 2
Warnings: Language
Word count: 2,735
One-Shot: By the Open Fire
Chapters: 1
Tumblr media
By the end of the first song, Candace was in her comfort zone. Yahya never let his eyes leave her and she no longer felt shy. The club had rules about no touching but Candace suddenly wanted this man’s hands all over her. Those long fingers and smooth brown skin were doing things to her. Maybe it was the liquor making her horny over a man she didn’t even know.
Little did Candace know, Yahya had thoughts racing in his mind too. He couldn’t stop thinking about her petite body under his or how her lips would feel on him. Candace was a beautiful woman and something about her intrigued Yahya. When she straddled his legs and began to grind on his lap, the urge to touch her grew. The scent of her perfume was as intoxicating as her hips, almost putting a spell on him.
It must have been the alcohol that gave Candace the courage to make her next move. She could feel his breath on her lips before they were interrupted by the dance timer. The euphoria they had experienced quickly disappeared as they fell back to Earth.
“Shit, sorry,” Candace apologized, swinging her legs to the floor. Yahya became any other customer and she held her hand out to collect her payment. “Thank you. You enjoy the rest of your night.”
Yahya opened his mouth but Candace was already heading out the door, stuffing the bills in her bra.
-------
Well into the next morning, Yahya was still thinking about the mystery girl from the club. He’d been to many strip clubs and never felt a connection with any of the ladies he encountered. Something about her grabbed him and sucked him in and had her on his mind hours later.
“You still stuck on that hoe from the club.” Damon lit his blunt and relaxed his head against the back of the sofa. “Nigga, we ain’t taking you to the club again.”
“Word on the street is that the shawties at Dynasty have golden pussy or some shit,” his brother added with a drug induced chuckle.
“Respect the ladies, man. Being a stripper doesn’t make them hoes. And Kevin that’s enough kush for you. Golden pussy? Really,” Yahya snatched the blunt from his friend and put it back in the ashtray.
“Aight, let me respect the skrippas. But still, you don’t know her. What if she’s crazy? You will be going back home tomorrow night and no tellin’ when you’re coming back to LA, so why does it matter,” Damon explained.
“Both of ya’ll are some fucking haters. Trash asses.” Yahya grabbed his phone and took his troubles to the balcony. Kevin and Damon were great friends but their childish, misogynistic antics got on his nerves when he was around them. At times, he felt like he was outgrowing them, even though he still considered them brothers he never had. While he was looking to settle down sooner rather than later, they were stuck in the same phase they were in throughout high school and college and it appeared to be a never ending cycle.
Was it ridiculous to think that the stripper he met at the club was the one? Yep. But, that didn’t keep Yahya from wishing he could see her again before he was back to the reality of being jobless.
-------
“Are you sure you saw him with her?” The very question had Candace’s heart pounding against her chest. Natalie, Maxwell’s ex-girlfriend, had entered the picture again after Candace thought her dropping out of school was the blessing they needed. Now with her back in California via North Carolina, she had access to Maxwell as did he to her.
“Sis, would I lie to you? I saw that bastard with her in the Commons. Took everything out of me not to run up on them and start whooping ass,” Trinity said, fuming on her sister’s behalf. Truth be told, she never liked Maxwell and knew the type of guy he was from the beginning. Maxwell was charming and had the ability to make any girl weak in the knees. Especially a woman like her sister that was in love with being in love.
Anger built from the pits of her stomach. Feelings of betrayal had never quite faded since they had made up and she ignored it in the name of love. “Did he see you?”
“Nope. But I’ll make myself seen when it comes to my sister. Candy, why are you still trying to make things work with this immature, cheating ass, motherfucker? I try to hold my tongue like you ask but I refuse to hold it again. You’re too good for him.” When it came to family. Trinity was the sister that would physically fight for her siblings. At times, Candace admired her sister’s tenacity and wished she wasn’t as timid when it came to relationships with people. That was one negative trait that kept Candace anchored to people that did not deserve her time.
“I honestly don’t know.” Tears began to form in Candace’s eyes as the shame set in for her. She knew Maxwell was no good for her but he always found a way back into her heart. “I’m...um...I’m going to talk to him.”
“Candace,” Trinity called out, noticing her sister’s emotions getting the best of her. “Please don’t cry over that man. Please.”
If only Candace knew her worth.
-------
Candace took the scenic route to Maxwell’s apartment, playing different scenarios in her head on the way. If she murdered him, where would she hide the body? Did she just hit him with questions or soften him up first?
None of those scenarios played out once Candace reached her destination and was met by Natalie in the hall outside Maxwell’s apartment. The three of them froze, each of them searching for words to break up the awkward moment.
“I should get going. I’ll call you when I get home,” Natalie mumbled, lowering her eyes and pushing past Candace.
“I knew that apology was a lie and you were full of shit,” Candace spoke through clenched teeth. She was taught to never put her hands on anyone and it took a strong prayer to keep her fists at her sides. “What the hell is Natalie doing here and don’t even think about lying.”
Maxwell didn’t even put up a fight. Besides, after the news he had learned, he didn’t have the energy to lie or smooth talk his way out of this one.
“What was she doing here, Maxwell?”
“Natalie’s pregnant,” he replied, leaning against the wall across from Candace. He watched as his girlfriend’s face fell blank. “I fucked up and I’m sorry for that. You don’t deserve the shit I put you through.”
Still lost for words, Candace slid down the wall until her rear hit the concrete floor. Pregnant. That had to be the final straw, right? The game they had been playing for the past three years had come to a tragic end that Candace feared.
“Baby, I’m so sorry. I know I stay apologizing but I mean it. I didn’t mean to hurt you.”
“Yeah, you did.”
Maxwell kept his distance. “Did what?”
“If you didn’t mean to hurt me, this would have stopped after the first incident. But I gave you chance after chance and you still didn’t fucking stop. I’m done, Max. I can’t put myself through this shit because it’s obvious you won’t stop. I’m foolish to even think you would,” Candace spoke in a hushed tone, never raising her voice or releasing the tears that threatened to fall.
“I’m-”
“I don’t wanna hear another one of your tired excuses. I sure the hell hope your dick is clean. I’ll come back for my shit another day.”
“Candy, come on-”
“Move! Don’t fucking touch me.” Blood rushed to Candace’s face as the embarrassment set in and she could no longer look Maxwell in the eye. This relationship had become a part of her identity and she allowed it to consume her so much that she forgot to love herself. “We’re done, Maxwell.”
Candace ignored the apologies and groveling. A weight lifted off her shoulders and she didn’t intend to put it back ever again.
------
Yahya had one more day to enjoy Los Angeles before he had to return to San Francisco to figure out his next move. He was desperate to burn off steam and decided to hit the park for a workout. The skies were clear, granting Yahya  a good dose of vitamin D while he ran the steps. He pushed himself to do one more set before taking a lap around the trail for a cool down. Yahya was so focused, he didn’t notice Candace approaching him from the opposite sidewalk.
“Hey...wassup,” he said, removing his headphones when he finally saw the brown beauty in his path.
“Hey. Didn’t think I’d run into one of my customers...ever,” Candace chuckled nervously. The breakup had her emotions all over the place and gave her the bravado to approach a man from the club. Keeping those two lives separate  was important to her except in that moment.
“Oh, yeah? Well, I don’t want to think of myself as your customer. That’s a little weird,” Yahya admitted, earning a nod from Candace in agreement. “But since we’re outside of your job, can I get your real name?”
“Candace.”
“Nice to meet you Miss Candace. I’m Yahya.”
A short, awkward moment of silence gave Candace time to get a better look at the man she had danced on in a dark strip club. Beautiful dark brown skin covered a body that looked like it was sculpted with the utmost care. If you looked up tall, dark and handsome in the dictionary, Yahya’s picture would be used as the definition. Once her eyes traveled back up to his face, his bright, white smile captured her and held on for dear life. The man was fine and seeing him in the light had Candace acting like a shy, school girl.
“You live around here,” Candace asked, breaking the silence.
“No, I’m visiting my boys from back home. I’m living in San Francisco right now. I go back tomorrow evening,” he explained, looking Candace over. She was petite compared to his 6′3 frame. “You?”
“I’m from Chicago but moved here to go to school. Trying to live the dream, ya know?”
“I hear that,” Yahya nodded. “Well Candace, I don’t think it’s a coincidence that we ran into each other. Would you like to get a recovery smoothie with me? My treat. Unless you’re still in the middle of your workout.”
“I can cut out early. I know a good smoothie spot not too far from here if you don’t mind walking.”
Yahya’s smile grew, “Sounds like a plan, let me put on a shirt.”
Or not, Candace thought to herself.
--------
After the ice was broken, Candace and Yahya began to enjoy each other’s company. The break-up earlier that day was still on Candace’s mind, but she felt at ease being around Yahya. Sure, they didn’t know one another on a deep level, yet she could sense Yahya’s compassion. When she spoke, his eyes stayed on her and he truly listened. One thing that irked her about Maxwell was his inability to listen below the surface level.
“That’s too bad. Many of these fellas out here don’t appreciate their lady until she’s gone.” Maxwell sounded like many men Yahya knew and the type of man his parents raised him not to be. He could see the hurt in Candace’s face when she described what had led up to the end of their relationship.
“Yeah, it’s just a shame I wasted my time and my heart on a guy that didn’t want to protect it.”
“His loss, your win.”
Dumping personal information on a stranger was not how Candace usually moved, nonetheless it felt good. “I’m sorry for treating you like a therapist.”
“Nah, you’re good. You had a rough day. I don’t mind listening.”
“Thanks, but I wanna hear more about you. What do you do in expensive ass San Francisco,” Candace quizzed, sipping her raspberry/banana smoothie.
Yahya hoped telling Candace about his unemployment wouldn’t ruin his chances. He still hadn’t shared the news with anyone else. “I was a City Planner for the Mayor’s office but I was laid off on Friday. I honestly don’t even know what the hell I’m going to do when I go back home.”
One of Candace’s strongest traits was her empathy. She had no issue stepping into a person’s shoes and feeling what they felt. Those that were worthy enough to spend time with her felt Candace’s warmth right away. Yahya could feel it, which is why he felt comfortable sharing the news with her.
“I’m sorry, Yahya. Shit sucks when you get well into your career and your job is in another person’s hands,” Candace sucked her teeth and shook her head. “Are you thinking about staying there and getting another job?”
“To be honest, I need a change of scenery. Maybe this was a blessing in disguise because I think I got comfortable in my lifestyle. I loved my job but things were stagnant,” he explained, tracing the lettering on his smoothie cup. “Right now, I’m thinking about taking a break and figuring out what I want to do from there. I’ll get unemployment, so I’ll manage until I find another career that makes me happy.”
“That’s brave of you. I’m too damn scary and would need to have a plan right away. Good luck with that. You seem to be a determined man so you’ll find your way. I’m hoping I can graduate and get into Yale then we will see if I make a career out of this acting thing. If not, I’ll go back to school for education and teach theatre.”
“Wow, Yale? I did some acting classes back in the day and they seemed pretty cool. I don’t know if I have the talent to get into a school like Yale though. I need to work on my Denzel cry first.” The two shared a laugh and finished up their smoothies.
Time passed as their conversation ranged from discussing their childhoods to recent life events. They were so deep into discussion, they didn’t notice that two hours had gone by since they first arrived at the smoothie shop. Candace was more easy going than Yahya thought. That shy exterior had fallen down, exposing the sweet and funny side of her. Like many women in the stripping industry, her persona in the club was a lot different from her true self. He wished he could get to know more of that side.
They walked back towards the park, where their cars were parked on a side street. Yahya walked Candace to her Jeep and waited for her to load the backseat with her duffle bag.
“Thanks for the smoothie and talk. I needed that more than I thought,” Candace closed the back door and stood in front of the driver’s side door. “Dr. Yahya is a great listener, even though we’re complete strangers.”
“It doesn’t have to be that way. I wasn’t kidding about taking some acting classes with you when I’m in town,” he replied, flashing his wide grin.
“I’ll hold you to that Mr. Abdul-Mateen. Like I said, acting is like recess so it’ll be fun. Who knows, maybe you’re a natural at the shit.”
“We’ll see, we’ll see. I won’t hold you up, you should probably get home before it gets too dark. Text me when you make it.”
“Alright. Thanks again, Yahya. For real,” Candace’s soft curls blew over her face as the wind picked up.
“You’re welcome. Thank you for listening to me ramble. Get home safely and don’t forget to let me know.” Yahya leaned in and placed a soft kiss on Candace’s cheek. The simple act almost made her melt into a puddle in the LA street. Opening her car door, Yahya waved her inside. “Bye, Candace.”
“See you later.”
Candace drove away feeling like a new chapter of her life was on the horizon and she was ready to face whatever it had in store.

The Long Way Around ~ Chapter 4
Link to previous part: https://bonjour-rainycity.tumblr.com/post/623116614605357056/the-long-way-around-chapter-3
Pairing: Jasper x Reader
Word count: 2092
Warnings: None
Y/n’s POV
The next three weeks pass in a now predictable sequence. I spend the majority of my time getting to know my new roommates, for lack of a better word. Esme, who is quickly becoming my favorite, does whatever I want with me. We read books, watch movies, go for runs in the woods. The doctor, Carlisle, isn’t home very often. He and Edward spend a lot of time in town making sure the Cullens are not suspect in my disappearance. They decided it would be best to continue ‘business as usual’ to avoid suspicion, but also so they don’t have to give up the advantageous location in the woods and risk moving with me. Bella tends to keep to herself, though she does occasionally join Esme and I in our book club. Alice and Arthur are quite friendly, and I enjoy spending time with them, even if Alice does treat me like a Barbie doll. I swear, I’ve never owned more clothes in my life! Rosalie is slowly warming up to me. She’s not rude, exactly, but I can tell my presence is hard on her. Her husband, Emmett, is a whole lot of fun. He invites me for races and arm wrestling matches which, obviously, I win. I suspect that won’t continue forever, though. Once my newborn strength fades, he will likely be the strongest in the house.
Then, of course, there’s my shadow. Jasper doesn't say much, but he is a constant presence. I can tell he doesn’t trust me. The minute I get frustrated or upset he invades my personal space and uses his ability to calm me down. I do resent it slightly, but I understand the need. It’s as he says: I’m dangerous. It amuses me though to know that, as Jasper has taken the task upon himself to never leave my side, he has to do everything I do. So he watches sappy movies with Esme and I, he sits quietly while Emmett and I play board games, he sulks in the corner while I ask Alice endless questions about her psychic ability, and, of course, he hunts with me about four times a week.
My bloodlust is insatiable. This newfound life and the thirst that accompanies it keeps me in a near constant state of pain. My throat burns badly, and, even when I am drinking animal blood, the burn remains. I have a feeling that, at this stage of life, not even human blood would satisfy my thirst.
At the thought of human blood, a delicacy so far denied to me, venom pools in my mouth. From across the room, Jasper shifts uncomfortably, feeling my desire. I imagine it must be harder for him than the others, because he not only has to fight his own bloodlust, but everyone else’s.
He eyes me evenly. “Do you want to hunt?”
“I’m fine,” I lie. We just went yesterday, and I feel like a burden asking people to go with me constantly. I usually have an entourage of three minimum when I hunt, and I can tell it interrupts the daily flow of things.
Jasper’s eyes don’t leave mine. “Taking you hunting isn’t a burden. Trust me, we would much rather go with you twenty times a day than have you get too thirsty and lose control.”
I purse my lips at his uncanny ability to know what I’m thinking. I know his emotional radar detector must help, but seriously, sometimes he rivals Edward.
“It would probably be a good idea,” I acquiesce. “I’ll go see if anyone else wants to go.” I push myself off the kitchen floor-I had been busy reading through one of Esme’s architecture journals-and walk into the living room where Emmett, Rosalie, Carlisle, Esme, and Arthur are gathered around the TV.
“Hey does anyone wanna-” My words die as I register the news anchor’s words.
“The search continues for local Y/n, Y/l/n, who was reported missing over three weeks ago.”
It feels like the breath has been knocked out of me. I grip the back of the couch, grief ripping through me. Five vampires turn their wary gazes at me.
“Turn it off.” Jasper’s command comes from behind my shoulder.
“No,” I breathe, deeply hurt but desperate to know what my friends and family could be seeing.
The anchor continues. “Authorities say they have a man in custody who confessed to stabbing the woman, though claims he can’t remember what he did with the body. Witnesses to the crime seem to suffer the same memory loss. Police have refused to offer further comments, though locals speculate a conspiracy or the presence of illegal drugs. While the two witnesses to the crime, Kaitlyn Myers and Blake Hannigan, have faced backlash surrounding their involvement in the case, police have cleared them as suspects at this time.”
The couch snaps under my grip. I take two quick steps back, shocked by what I just heard and the jarring display of my physical power.
“Oh, sweetie.” Esme is in front of me instantly, reaching out to envelop me in a hug. Before I can even blink, Jasper is standing between us, acting as a barrier to Esme.
Hurt pierces through my gut. He only sees me as a threat.
“I’m not going to hurt Esme, Jasper. Back off!” I wish my words didn’t waver.
His voice is hard when he responds. “You don’t know what you’ll do. Newborns are governed by their emotions more than anyone else. I’m not taking any risks.”
“Well how about getting to know me instead of just generalizing?” I throw my hands up, properly yelling now. “I’m sick of feeling like I’m a prisoner with you. Everyone else is giving me a chance, so why can’t you?” I spit the words out, my hurt growing by the second.
“We’re hoping it’s all a terrible dream, that we’ll wake up soon and everything will be alright.”
They hadn’t turned off the TV. On the screen is a video of my parents. Hearing my mom’s tearful voice is like a kick to the stomach. I sink to the floor, gasping for air I don’t need.
“I just want our little girl to come home.” Mom’s voice breaks, and she stares into the camera. It’s like she’s staring right at me.
“Jasper, it’s alright, really. I appreciate your concern very much but I promise, it’s alright.” Esme’s soft voice vaguely reaches me through my sobs.
A pair of arms-Esme’s, likely-envelopes me, but I barely take notice. I only feel the pain. It’s so much worse than the burn in my throat. It almost has me wishing for the fiery torture I felt while becoming a vampire. But wishing very seldom equates to reality, so I’m left to allow the gaping hole in my chest to consume me.
I don’t know how long we stay like that, only that it’s dark when I finally regain control of myself. Esme never left my side, and even Rosalie had come to join us at some point. She says nothing, only rests her head on my shoulder and holds my hand.
Jasper is noticeably absent.
“I think I scared him off,” I mumble, guilty.
“He’ll recover,” Rosalie replies, sounding unconcerned.
“He’s coming from the right place,” Esme assures. “Jasper is a very passionate person who gives his all in everything. This is no different. I think he sees keeping you and us safe as a chance to redeem himself for his past indiscretions, though those are long-ago forgiven. He’s trying to keep you from making the same mistakes he did.”
I look at the floor, mulling Esme’s words over. I don’t really know what to say to that.
Thankfully, Rosalie saves me from having to craft a response. “Do you still want to hunt? I can go with you.”
I smile and shake my head, exhausted from the recent emotional turmoil. “No, it’s okay. I think I’ll just go to bed.” I say the word lightly, knowing I’ll probably just spend the next eight hours reading or something to keep my mind busy.
I stand, intending to exit the room. On the way out I see the poor couch, broken in two. I grimace. “Sorry about the couch.”
Esme smiles sweetly, waving it off. “Don’t worry about it. It just gives me an excuse to go shopping.”
I give her a quick hug, grateful for her endless kindness and patience.
Once upstairs in the room Alice and Esme courteously set up for me, I flop on the bed, grabbing the nearest book. I do my best to let my mind go blank and focus only on the words in front of me. About two hours into this exercise, I hear a soft knock on the door.
Jasper stands in the frame, looking repentant. “I’m sorry. You were right. I haven’t tried to know you. But I’ve got some time now if you’re free.” It’s then that I realize he means to do this now. Not wanting to smile because I really am still upset with him, I bite it back.
I decide to play coy instead. “I suppose I could clear my schedule. Though, a little more groveling might help…”
He smiles softly, almost hesitantly. With exaggerated movements, he gets on his knees and clasps his hands together in an excellent show of desperation. “Please do me the magnificent honor...of telling me your favorite color.”
Now I can’t help but crack a smile. “You may approach, peasant, but remember that my good grace can easily change.” I pat the foot of my bed, and he sits, facing me. “It’s green. Like trees and moss and emeralds.”
“What’s your favorite thing about this new life?”
“The running. I had asthma as a human but now I can run for as long as I want and be completely fine.”
He nods, filing the information away. “If you could be anywhere in the world right now, where would you be?”
I answer without hesitation. “London. The culture, the history, the accents.” He chuckles, teasingly exasperated. “I bet it’s amazing.”
He smiles, a faraway look in his eyes. “Oh it’s great. I was there back in the ‘90s...I bet it hasn’t changed too much though.” He grins. “Maybe in a couple of years we’ll all be able to take a trip.”
I look down at my fingers. “Maybe a few more years than a ‘couple’. I can’t even think of human blood without…” Venom floods my mouth. I offer a humorless chuckle. “See?”
Jasper shakes his head emphatically. “No, you’re really doing good.” I try to protest, but he shakes it off. “I wouldn’t say it if it weren’t true. You are doing remarkably well for three weeks in.”
I sigh, ready to tease him a bit. “Well I couldn’t do so well without my shadow micromanaging my every move.”
He smiles sheepishly and looks at his lap. “I’m sorry I seem a bit…,” he sighs deeply, “intense. I will try to ease off.”
I grin, pulling my knees up to my chest. “Thank you. I’ll try to be a little less emotionally hectic. It’s gotta be hard on you.”
Too quickly, he shrugs. “Don’t worry about it. You’re going through a lot, it’s okay.”
I chuckle, feeling much lighter now, either thanks to his ability or the natural resolution of tension between us, I don’t know. “Yeah well I could stay away from the movies that make me feel all the things.” Now he grins, raising his eyebrows. “Next time we’ll try something bland, like High Noon.”
“Hey now.” Jasper raises a hand, a comically disbelieving look on his face. “High Noon is a masterpiece, don’t knock it.”
I grin broadly, smacking him on the shoulder with a pillow. “I knew you were a Western guy! Gosh, that’s gotta be like, what, forty percent of your personality?”
He rolls his eyes good-naturedly, taking the pillow from me. “Mhm, somewhere around there.”
I like this Jasper, I decide firmly. This new, witty, freer Jasper is so much more fun to be around. I could stand to have this Jasper follow me around all day.
As if he has come to the same agreement, that Jasper stays at the foot of my bed well past the time the sun rises, talking and joking. We get to know each other.
And, for a while, I forget about how sad I am and the near constant burning in the back of my throat.
A/n Thanks for reading! I’m having so much fun with this story and I’m glad you guys are enjoying it, too! Please let me know what you thought of this chapter and if you would like to be added to the tag list!

How they act around their crush: GD edition
[This one’s for @glass-grapes. I saw your submission and am completely psyched that you love my blog! I know that I’ve only recently had it kick-off with a few posts, but I have been wanting to start one of these since January. Hope this is to your liking! (p.s I didn’t know if I should do pre or post time skip, so I did a little dabbling into both]
Claude:
We all know Claude here is both a go-getter and a tease
If he finds you interesting then there’s no reason for him to hide it. A  battle of wits never hurt anyone, and boy do you two fight well
He is s a s s y. If you’re chatting with some other students he might stick his nose into the conversation to toy with you. It’s all in good fun, right? Just a little mini-game on his way to achieving bigger things
That’s what he tells himself
Some days he finds you a bit too alluring, and can’t help being self conscious of the other people around
Fiddles with his braid when you throw him for a loop
Will pay extra special attention to you in battle, and makes excuses to the prof. for why you should be near him. He really is a snake
Post-Timeskip he hides his bias even more. Not enough to fool his close comrades, but enough to avoid you receiving any extra attention from the enemy
Sometimes slips items in your room to distract from the stress. Tea, a new blanket, etc.
During the five year gap he keeps track of your whereabouts. After Garreg Mache fell he decided that his dream would take priority as planned, but also believed that one day you would be at his side
Wasn’t surprised at all to see you at the reunion, but that familiar urge to tug his hair returned too
Judith and Nader have already heard about you prior to your meeting. Much to his dismay they view his buried feelings as open range comedy
Lorenz:
We all know how Lorenz acts when he finds someone of interest. The guy is a huge flirt which causes the professor wayyy too much stress
He’s not as in-tune with his sense of romance as you would think. In the early stages he’ll treat you the same as all the other ladies: a potential partner for house Gloucester.
Date offerings, frilly words, gifts, acts of kindness. Ah tis but the duty of a noble, yes?
No.
One day he lets that stubborn side of his personality slip out, and you come back at him with just as much fire. He becomes so angered after it, but somehow hearing the words from you hurt more than if someone else were to say them
That’s when he knows that he’s in deep, and from then on he treats you more gently. He’ll watch his tongue around other women, and sets his sights on only you. His mannerisms are the same as before, but now he tries to learn more about you as a person vs. just the cold hard statistics
He’s a blusher. He has a naturally light pigmentation so it shows.
After the time-skip he’ll watch you like a hawke. Do you like his new hair cut? Surly it’s an improvement from before sorry bro it’s not
Sets his dignity aside to request that you be given a hexlock shield during battle, or placed near him. Claude won’t let him live it down
Ignatz:
He m i g h t avoid you, but please don’t take it the wrong way. That’s just how he is, you know?
Young Ignatz isn’t that confident in himself. You’re...well ‘you’. And he’s...well, ‘him’
Oddly enough he confides in HIlda of all people. It originally began with wanting to see if she was still on stable duty with him, but ended up with him working and her talking
When you’re nearby he chooses not to speak unless spoken to. If you didn’t know his tells he’d come off cold, but one look at his hands wringing together just proves he was nervous
Byleth puts you two on cooking duty together: que panic. He legit grovels at their feet to pick someone else. They don’t, and that evening he sketches a wonderful picture of you sifting through different seasonings
On your birthday he struggles to give you the gift he prepared. It ends up with Lionie giving you it while he watches from afar.
When you’re older he is much more verbal with his opinions
More often than not he lets those honey-coated words slip out, which usually end up with him excusing himself quickly
Invites you to join him during downtime at least once a week. Every day could be his last, and goddess forbid yours. He wants to spend time with you even if he isn’t the most graceful companion never mind that he’s a smooth-talking mofo
Raphael:
If there’s one thing Raphael is good at, it’s showing that he cares
The boy is a giant muscular teddybear. He will carry your things, he will spar with you, he will eat anything you cook without complaint, and he will hug you; hard.
Unlike everyone else he’s pretty open with his feelings. Life is short, you know?
If you make him particularly bashful he’ll laugh loudly. More so to cover up his own embarrassment than because he finds the situation actually humorous
Adopts this habit of constantly asking if you need anything. The guy loves to dote on people, and lookie here you’re the perfect target
Remembers all important dates like a pro. On your birthday he drops a gift right on your desk first thing in the morning
Goddess forbid anyone gives you trouble. Without the smile on his face he looks the murder type, and the guy uses it to his advantage. He will happily escort you anywhere you need to go
Once his sister is settled he might honestly stick with you during that five year gap. He’s made his feelings painfully obvious, and you haven’t chased him off. Why not stick around?
Hilda:
Yo she’s clingy
She knows you have to be a catch and a half to steal her heart, so who knows who else that you’ve smooth talked
Just like everyone else she’ll still get you to do her bidding...but, maybe a smidge less
She feels guilty, but won’t show it
Hilda will do all in her power to not let the news reach her family. The last thing she needs is Holst sending her more letters, or worse: showing up at the monastery
Y’all she will don her best perfume for you. She will push all her work onto Cyril and drag you to have lunch with her. This is normal Hilda behavior so she has no reason to be shy
Will flirt openly and proudly. If you recuperate she’ll go gossip to Marianne about how you’re ‘totally smitten’ with her
Post-skip she’s not much different. Most of her time is spent doing what she can for the cause, but when you see each other she’s more bold.
Like always she doesn’t like to have expectations pushed onto her. She does have one for herself though, and it’s to stay by your side.
Marianne:
During the academy years she tends to admire from afar
Her favorite memories are of when the professor signed you both up for choir practice. She loves your voice, and it was a time where there wasn’t any pressure for conversation
As time passes she’ll become less adverse to talking. Quiet greetings will be whispered when you cross paths, and occasionally you two have lunch together
Marianne is not as reserved as people assume her to be. She’s just had a rough time, and if you take things slow with her then she’ll gradually have a stronger presence in your life. She hopes that this comes true for you two
Eye contact hasn’t always been her forte. She does try to maintain it with you though
Her feelings remain at a stalemate through most of the academy days. Only when she bypass’ some more personal-issues does she let her emotions go free
About halfway through the war period she changes. Her stance is more vertical, and she becomes the one to take initiative in your relationship
She’ll still blush upon any physical contact, and in some cases she’ll lose her breath when you talk. Don’t take the momentary silence as a bad thing, she’s okay.
Occasionally she’ll be restless and unable to sleep, worrying about the future she now has in her grasp. You might find her scouring for a cup of chamomile late in the night
Lysithea:
She’ll deny herself immediately. For Lysithea the future is an anomaly. One of which that no amount of studying or research can uncover.
It’s painfully obvious that there’s a spark between you two. Anyone can see it, and Hilda has pestered her many times regarding confessing
If the situation was a bit different, she would. Lysithea is no push over, but she also doesn’t want to invest time into something that will bear no fruition
She keeps her cool around you for the most part...or at least until you’re out of hearing distance
Then she completely loses composure. Did someone say clammy hands? Because hers get slicker than lorenz’s hair gel
Leads to stress eating, not gonna lie. There are many late night trips to the mess hall, and many angry cooks over the missing sweets
Times are different post-timeskip though. She’s a bit more reluctant to let these feelings go
Occasionally there’s some open flirting on her part. If you recuperate then it becomes more frequent and less forced. The sassy banter between you two becomes the deer’s free entertainment
Leonie:
She’s commonly been viewed as ‘one of the guys,’ for her personality. So she’s very insecure about getting friend zoned
It’s not like she was actively searching for romance. It just happened, you know? One day something just struck a chord
She never took the time to picture sharing a life with someone. Most of her life has been spent worrying about her village, or working hard to attain some kind of recognition from the Captian
For a split second she considers going to Byleth for some advice. Now isn’t the time for school-girl crushes. Now is the time to be forging a path to the future
Decides to completely ignore the ache she feels when you’re nearby. Just...lets it go.
She’ll put hella distance between you two. The only time she’ll initiate contact is during sparring
After the timeskip she stays this way too. Well, until HIlda calls her out on her bullsh*t (if you haven’t noticed from all these. Hilda is a perceptive little cookie)
Just like anyone she’ll go through the moral dilemma of deciding to confess or not. She instead chooses to just let her feelings do as they please, and if something happens then it happens

phat concept,,,, but hear me out,,, imagine katsuki being the god of war and chasing after their darling (who happens to be the god of death respectively) who’s just Tired of dealing with bakugou starting wars and shit to find an excuse to talk to them
I love personification so much… y’all shouldn’t give me this kind of privilege, really. It gives me too many rights.
TW: Mentions of Violence, Mentions of Death, and Implied Genocide.
~
Death accompanies War. One has to be present, if the other is to be expected.
You’d been with Katsuki since his rebirth, constantly lingering, constantly there, even if it was only your name being whispered in the background of his court. You would attend to him on the battlefield, never bowing to the demands he screamed but never traveling far, either, your servants often out-numbering his own. Sometimes, he would attempt to speak to you, and often, you would refrain from answering. You didn’t seem to talk much, if he had to guess.
But, often was not always. You two had spent centuries in each others’ company, and while he had only heard you speak a handful of words, there was more than enough time to waste while on the battlefield. He could talk for hours, and you would listen attentively, only leaving when another tragedy called for you. Katsuki wondered what it must be like, to exist as a concept so… depressing. War was honored, War was sacred. Death was only dreaded, distanced, kept away regardless of the cost. Katsuki couldn’t die, not truly. The fear of it was foreign to him.
It didn’t take many more years for pity to replace whatever annoyance he’d felt towards your distance.
The first time he’d expressed was the first time he’d warmed your bed, after waiting far too long to do so. Emotions were rare among deities, even those who seemed focused on the subject rather limited in the range they could exhibit, and if you felt anything beyond numb acceptance at his confession, you hadn’t been eager to display it. There’d been no response, no words of reciprocation, but you’d held him close, only leaving his side when the sun rose the next morning.
Death attends War, as it always will. But, one must always call for the other.
Blood and gore and carnage seemed less important with each night he spent in your company. He didn’t leave his duties to his inferiors, nor was Katsuki any less enthusiastic about carrying them out than he’d ever been, but he was yours with the sunset. Katsuki liked it that way, even if he only ever dreamed of admitting it. He liked how you gave yourself to him, how he was able to give himself to you. He’d had mortal lovers before, young warriors and matured generals, but he’d like to think his immortality would be saved for you.
It was a pleasant thought, something to occupy himself with while the bloodshed was at its most dull. Nothing more, nothing less…
Until he’d come to know your psychopomps by name, at least.
He would ask you, but one-word replies were frustratingly common. A new plague in the cities, a season of starvation in the villages, all demanding Death’s attention over another ancient grudge or honor-driven combat. War was organized, War was strategic, but War was jealous, demanding, selfish, too. Would your followers flee if you stayed by his side, rather than traversing the halls of a family’s secluded cottage? Would your dwindling sacrifices dry completely if you lowered your hood? You offered no answers, and Katsuki was the only respectable deity who’d bothered to ask.
Death was silent for most, apparently.
Annoyingly, tortuously silent.
Katsuki’s battles grew larger, with that in mind. Blessings were given less frivolously, his servants slashing and cutting down any man who dared to survive his offerings to you. He’d have trapped and captured your guides, if he could, but the damn monsters were as untouchable as their master. He left you presents littered across fields and in valleys, bows of red and silver decorating every proclamation of his devotion. His emblem, his initials, he was written across each, calls for your attention you couldn’t ignore, days without you only fueling the gifts you’d receive the next.
War pursues Death. As one evolved, it would only grow to look more like a monument to the other.
Daggers were discarded in favor of swords, swords strapped to great, powerful machines before they too deemed themselves useless. It was all destruction, to Katsuki, all meaningless violence with the occasional bloodless coup or time of peace. But, he threw himself into his work, nonetheless, not knowing what else to do. He tried to live a mortal life (more than once, in fact), falling in love and growing old and finding purpose, but he would end up in the same place, regardless of how hard he tried to change. His daylight hours were spent in prayer, his nights wasted begging for your approval. He was more of a groveling devotee than a lover, within a few millennia.
He wanted your love, he wanted you.
He wanted all of those distractions gone.
Again, he waited to confess this. He waited until your servants were no longer audible outside your quarters, until the night was dark and the air chilled, despite the many lamps and lanterns that surrounded your bed, he waited until Katsuki wasn’t sure he was capable of waiting any longer. You must’ve suspected something, because for the first time in ages, you pulled him close, letting him hold you as he spoke.
“I’d like to make you happy,” He said, a monotone drawl masking the imperfections in his voice. It was easier to feel nothing than to feel something unpleasant, a notion Death must already be accustomed to. “I’d like to see you smile, and I’d like to be the reason you do so.” He paused, letting his head come to rest on your chest, your heartbeat as slow as those of the souls you dealt with. “I’ll get rid of them all, if that’ll please you. Mortals, immortals, everyone… I don’t care. I won’t stop until it’s just the two of us.”
“I would like that, too.”
At this, he dared to look towards you, the small, faint grin ghosting over your features spreading to his own without another word. In that moment, Katsuki decided his musing would become a reality, that he would turn the world to rubble, if only he got to witness a sight so beautiful for a second time.
War adores Death, after all. War worships Death.
But, one had only ever been a means to an end, for the other.

Sesskag week - Day 2: Fantasy
Tumblr media
Summary: A vampire and a time traveller walk into a ballroom.
AN: For Sesskag Week Day 2 Fantasy. Enjoy some vampire Sesshoumaru ;)
Rated M for smut
3,700 words
(all prompts posted on Ao3, fanfic.net and Dokuga)
Eventide
Senseless chatter had never appealed to him. He wasn't entirely taciturn, but he felt it important to choose words carefully, speak eloquently, and steer the conversation toward a goal. Humans did not seem to share this thought. Don't misunderstand though, he was excellent at being polite thank you very much; provided it served a purpose. His pride wouldn't allow for useless platitudes or grovelling. For the most part, Sesshoumaru took. He did not need to persuade.
As a vampire that made him somewhat of an oddity.
He stepped into the throng of idle gossip, tinkling laughter, wine-laced breath and senseless talking. The Ball was in full swing, with some grabbing partners to dance and others mingling around the sidelines in large groups. The commotion was loud and complicated, busy.
Perfect. The ideal environment to hunt in.
Glancing around the large room, with its high ceiling and grand chandelier, he inhaled. Perfumes, tobacco, wine, sweat and faint arousal permeated the air. Rain pelted heavily against the windows outside, which only further encouraged the humans to stay longer at the gathering, fretting the journey home by carriage. Sesshoumaru walked through the mingling humans like vapour, gaze passing over them, searching. He wasn't an official guest. No one knew him. But they'd invited him in after just a few choice words. It was apparent from his speech and the way he held himself that he was a man of standing, cultured and exotic. Yet none of them could see the true colour of his eyes and hair, the glamour perfect; right down to the bluntness of his nails, teeth or the unnatural points of his ears appearing curved.
His tongue pushed against the roof of his mouth, brushing the back of his fangs. Focusing drowned out the chatter and brought the thrum of hundreds of heartbeats into his hearing. Their happy faces blurred until red veins could be seen, spreading out like intricate tree roots under their skin. Blood called to him. Saliva pooled behind his teeth.
He flirted with the idea of wrapping a long-fingered hand around a blonde woman's arm and arresting her attention.
A burst of harsh pink light suddenly forced his eyes shut, coming from within the throng of people. No one else seemed to notice. Sesshoumaru hastily rubbed a hand over stinging lashes, lips curving in delight. Victory sang in his chest.
I knew you were here.
"I don't think I've seen you before."
Stiffening, the faces of the humans swamped back into place the moment Sesshoumaru's eyes peeled open. Turning, he found a dark-haired boy quietly looking at him.
He inclined his head, thankful his voice was steady. "I do not live in the area, rather, I am just passing through. Your generous associates invited me here for the night, nonetheless."
The boy rose a brow, but shook his head slightly as though trying to dispel his suspicions.
"Kohaku, are you interrogating every guest now?" An amiable young man joined the conversation, chuckling. "This is supposed to be a party. You need to enjoy more and worry less- you're not on guard duty tonight, correct?"
Kohaku frowned and folded his arms, glancing away.
Friendly dark blue eyes turn to Sesshoumaru, "sorry about that. There was just an incident recently is all. Everyone's a little on edge, so this party is quite ideal."
"I do not take offence to it," he inclined his head, glancing at Kohaku. If the suspicious boy would just leave, he could ask more about this 'incident' but as it was, he politely excused himself and moved into the crowd again. The light was the top of his priority list anyway. It had been since the second he stepped into the sea of possible victims.
Now where in the room was she? It was almost like she had sensed his bloodlust and thrown him off-kilter. Golden brown eyes passed carefully over the faces around him.
As he passed a grey-haired gentleman Sesshoumaru chanced a look at the swaying bodies of the dancers.
Long dark hair caught and held his attention first.
Sun-kissed skin and gentle laughter followed. Her green skirts flowed up into the air slightly as she was spun out from her partner toward him. Exhilarating light blue irises met his startled gaze before she frowned and was pulled back into the young man's arms. Sesshoumaru stared after her, inhaling the pure, intoxication scent teasing his senses.
Experimentally, he tried focusing again, seeing the human's veins once more around him- but the pink light flashed out the moment he did. Turning eager attention to her again, his instincts flickered.
Her eyes burned with warning. His lips curved up in response.
Sesshoumaru stepped forth into the dancers, moving swiftly and stepping around some couples. He pivoted on his heel to allow him through without touching them- fluidly passing around the humans like water. He reached the woman the moment the song ended. She was beaming at her partner and panting from the exertion while the young man laughed and chatted nonsense.
The moment she looked at him, Sesshoumaru bowed low, hand on his chest. "Will you honour me with the next dance, or are you spoken for, my Lady?" voice pitched to be respectful, he couldn't keep the velvet caress out of it as his thirst doubled. His head tilted up slightly to meet her steady, annoyed gaze, even as he kept his back bowed.
Sesshoumaru did not usually persuade, but it was somewhat necessary when dealing with her.
"Well uh- we were dancing..."
"Kouga," the woman looked at the boy, smiling gently. "I did promise to dance with everyone that I could- I wouldn't want to disappoint this man. Besides," she looked at Sesshoumaru again. "I'm not spoken for."
A breath rushed out of his dead lungs that he didn't know he'd been holding. Sesshoumaru straightened, smile sharp. "Shall we?" he asked, raising a clawed hand for her to take. He knew she could see it if she focused. Look past the magic coating his skin.
He watched her hesitate just a touch, and almost anticipated a refusal, until her warm, soft hand slid onto his.
Kouga briefly made a disappointed, sour expression but left them to it after saying goodbye. With the newfound privacy, the woman looked up at Sesshoumaru then- eyes hardening into glaciers. He slid an arm around her waist and settled a hand at the small of her back, fangs aching painfully.
Slim fingers dug into his shoulder with surprising strength as they stared at each other until gentle, coaxing music washed over the room.
His heel turned, and then they were moving, swaying gracefully amidst the other couples.
"It is a pleasure to finally see you again," dropping the charade, his voice rolled into a purr. She felt sublime in his arms.
"I wish I could return the sentiment," Kagome's words held a frosty edge to them that caused his fangs to flash, smile widening.
"Tell me, why do I find a time travelling priestess mingling with ordinary humans tonight? You have to agree, it is a little unorthodox." He only pulled her slim waist in closer, amazed to be standing in her presence. She had form, and was tangible under his hands. He inhaled her scent and tasted the gentle scent of a flower he couldn't name. He'd dreamed of her as a distant, barely-there being. It had been so achingly long since he'd seen her last. Kagome Higurashi was such a rarity she was practically otherworldly even when he himself was considered a 'mythical being.'
The woman in his arms was certainly real as she levelled her stormy gaze at him, voice sure and strong. "I'm mingling, conducting important business. I'm sure it wasn't an innocent reason that brought you here today, vampire."
He watched as he spun her out, wild hair fanning around her.
"There is no need for hostility, it is another turn of fate that we should both here tonight under the same roof. Would it not be prudent to-"
"I refuse to share the same space with someone who would do these people harm, my apologies," she spat, yet with such melodic tones he couldn't help but want her to keep talking, even if it were only to throw insults.
"Do harm? Forgive me, but at the very least, my goal is very easy to see. I only desire blood-"
"Only?!" she burst, before lowering her voice into a hiss. It thrilled him. "You bite me once in a dark alley on the worst first night on a job ever and then get hooked- stalk me through different centuries, and have the nerve to say you 'only' want blood? It's never 'just' blood, with you."
"Indeed. I think we can agree we do a lot more than bloodsucking."
Her face turned red, "we might have used to. That was before I knew just how many people you'd murdered, Killing Perfection."
He chuckled silkily, "a thing of the past. You fear for these people, yet it is only you that I desire." Sesshoumaru moved in closer, lips brushing her ear. He felt her body shiver deliciously. "Aren't you more dangerous for the potential calamity you can bring?" he murmured, turning them in a tight spin.
"I-I can't believe your audacity! That was one time, and I never meant to mess up like that-"
"But you are always so eager to remind me of my misdeeds," he purred, large hand brushing her rib, claws twitching into the material of her dress. She could no doubt feel the pinpricks of his claws through the lace, lightly scratching her heated skin. "How is the injury?" he inquired softly, though he knew the answer since she'd were able to move so fluidly.
Kagome glanced away, complicated feelings arising in her scent. "Better. Please...you should leave."
"Why? My offer still stands."
"I left you for a reason."
"Because you were afraid."
"How dare you-"
Sesshoumaru grabbed her waist, her feet leaving the ground as he lifted her and turned. Kagome gasped, heart fluttering in his ears. Arousal plumed.
A smirk curved his lips as he set her down, "you are quite predictable in some ways."
Blue eyes sharpened, "oh really?" she raised her voice suddenly. "Help! Help!"
Sesshoumaru stiffened as the people around him turned to look at them. A few gentlemen frowned, moving to assist the 'helpless' lady as she struggled in his arms.
Releasing her, the vampire glared. "You are only buying time. I will see you later, Miss Higurashi."
Kagome sniffed, cowering back behind big strong men and covertly sticking her tongue out at him as they told him to stop upsetting the young miss.
Little brat.
Taking his leave, Sesshoumaru strode out of the ballroom into the cool night air, fangs aching. It seemed the rains had stopped.
Moving around the side of the building, he grabbed a woman standing on the outskirts of the crowd and sank starving teeth into her neck. As she moaned and writhed he imagined dark hair and sublime legs. Before draining her completely, he dragged a wet tongue, sticky with blood over the wound, closing them.
Unlike his brethren who had likely caused a stir in this area, he hunted cleanly.
And because of that damn Higurashi…
He discarded the woman, leaving her alive where he wouldn't have done before.
------
Walking down a dirt road under the light of the full moon, Kagome felt mighty lucky to have detangled herself from the 'polite society.' The men had been so eager to ride in a carriage with her. She supposed it was to be expected in this time period.
Adjusting her lace sleeve and pushing it up, she checked her digital watch. She'd done everything needed. Not much time left.
She kind of wished she'd had longer. No, Kagome shook her head. There wasn't any point in wanting to see him. It would be so much easier if he'd just let it go.
Her job wasn't easy. Time-travelling for her boss meant stealing priceless artefacts lost to time or recording history. She wasn't supposed to interfere too much. In the 1600's she'd majorly fucked up and accidentally brought the witch trials to a quaint town. They'd sought her foreign tongue and odd words, but she'd managed to escape. Other women hadn't been so lucky.
And Sesshoumaru…
He'd always been there, on every job. Like a bloodhound, he just seemed to sniff her out. It had to be a coincidence. Seemed too odd that he could happen to be in a different country, in a different century at the exact same time. He called them fated lovers, destined to be together, but getting attached with her kind of job was a huge no-no.
A bone-chilling howl slid out into the night, close. Kagome stiffened. Wolves?
Or was it worse?
Glancing around at the dark trail, she quickly hitched up her skirts and removed a gun from her holster. Hearing the distinct sound of two feet moving instead of four, Kagome tried to calm her breathing. She was a priestess and could typically use her reiki. However, this type of beast required silver bullets.
The rapid footsteps got closer and Kagome turned, firing into the darkness. Everything lay silent then.
Taking a shaky breath, she noticed she hadn't heard the collapse of a body.
A large form lunged at her out of the shadows then, snarling. The werewolf spread large jaws open, saliva flicking out from long, hungry fangs.
Kagome cried out and stumbled back, firing into his gut. Even as he wailed, it was no use, he was going to land atop her.
The pale form of a white dog collided with the two-legged beast then. They both disappeared into the darkness, snarling and ripping sounds reaching her ears.
Kagome panted, staring with wide eyes. This had been an unexpected part of the job.
Fantasy creatures.
From Youkai in Japan, to murderous unicorns in England, leprechauns in Ireland, friggin Krampus. No one had told her she'd be wrestling with a damn fairy on her night shift! This was the past, she'd expected famine, wars and dysentery, not wendigos.
The noises died down, but she yanked her gun up and pointed it when footsteps approached again. Sesshoumaru stepped out into the moon's soft light, his long jacket unstained but white poets shirt marred with blood. Kagome's muscles automatically relaxed, and she lowered the weapon.
"You should not wander alone, time traveller."
Brushing herself off, she moved to go look for her bullets. Couldn't exactly leave evidence behind- but he lifted a hand out and offered them to her.
Kagome paused. "Why are you here? I told you to leave me alone."
"I am not so easily dissuaded from what I want," he glanced away. "That dead wolf changed back into the boy you danced with…"
"Kouga. Yeah, I got an inkling. I just hoped he wouldn't try anything," sighing, she stepped closer and accepted the bullets, putting them into a pouch. "I don't have long. Maybe 15 minutes."
Blue eyes slid up to him then, deliberating. He didn't move, he would stay with her for the remainder of her time left, she knew that. It was up to her how they spent it.
"Do you know a place?" she asked softly.
Sesshoumaru smiled, curling an arm around her waist and drawing her hips against his.
In a whirl of motion, Kagome found herself lying back in hay.
Classy. She couldn't say they'd lain together in a barn yet. Least that was something off the bucket list.
Embracing him nonetheless, starving lips met. Sesshoumaru groaned into her mouth, and she felt him already hard and ready between her thighs.
Perhaps to an outsider, it made no sense. They made no sense. She'd tried so hard to push him away but every time like a bad habit they'd end up this way.
It wasn't just because of what he'd done, either that she tried to resist. The killing had frightened her, yes, but a part of Kagome sought to protect them both. Him, waiting for her for so long couldn't be fair to him. It felt like she abandoned Sesshoumaru anew with each job.
Hitching her legs around his waist and mewing, the hay rustled as he yanked her stockings down and teased her. Kagome bit the shell of his round ear, shuddering.
"Drop the glamour," she breathed.
He obliged, dark hair, eyes and inviting features sliding off him like water. Long white locks splayed around him like spun silver threads. Two molten gold eyes smiled down at her like setting suns. Thin lips peeled back to reveal fangs, and he lunged- sinking them into her neck.
Kagome gasped and arched into him, feeling an ache between her thighs that she tried to alleviate by rutting against him like a needy animal.
Sesshoumaru drank her blood, panting, while Kagome reached down and freed his length, stroking. He groaned into her neck, chuckling and collecting her blood onto his tongue, swallowing and savouring the taste with relish like it were the finest chocolate.
"Having some trouble?" He teased in a velvety voice, bottom lip stained red.
Kagome huffed, "put it in already, we don't have time for you to be messing around-ah!"
His hips lunged forward, practically impaling her on his cock.
Kagome cried out, toes curling as he grunted, curling a hand into her hair and starting to move his hips in a languid pace, taking his time. "You cling to me so fiercely," he chuckled.
"Stop teasing," she panted, adjusting to his size. It didn't take long, her body knew him intimately well by now.
"Move your hips more," Sesshoumaru uttered, biting her collarbone. "Let me see your body ache to keep me in," he thrust shallowly.
Growling, Kagome shifted her hips, fingers clawing at his shoulders to keep him locked to her. How shameless and humiliating to beg. She didn't care though.
"Just- hah- do it…"
He gives a jagged smirk, animal eyes gleaming red. "But dear one," he groaned, holding her under her thighs and parting them wider to look down between them. "Do you not think you look delicious, moving against me? See how you greedily urge me deeper," giving a sharp thrust, he watched his cock sink inside slick folds deeper with rapt, arrogant pride.
Kagome snarled and dragged his head down via her hands on his cheeks, pressing her mouth to his. "Fuck me, Sesshoumaru, please!" she gritted out.
Sesshoumaru gave a low rumble of pleasure, tipping his head slightly into her touch and snapping his hips harder. "Hah- good. That is all I wanted to hear," he muttered, shoving her down hard and starting to move with wild abandon.
Kagome could do nothing but cling on, tilting her head back and feeling her body jolt like a rag doll as he fucked her. Obscene noises filled the cold air of the barn. It smelled like livestock, petrichor and other outdoors things, so she nuzzled into his damp neck, inhaling the rich smell of unknown tobacco, the copper of blood and decadence.
When they finished with long, quivering groans, they clung to each other long after the deed was done. Kagome panted, stroking twitching fingers through his hair as she felt him pool inside her.
"You couldn't have-" she swallowed, catching her breath. "Found somewhere nicer?"
"It is… hah...your fault for running from me in the first place. We could have enjoyed an evening of this in my hotel."
"I had to do my job and you would've distracted me," she muttered, closing her eyes. "You always do."
Sesshoumaru kissed her chest, making a dusty noise as she stroked his pointed ear. "I endeavour to keep being a… distraction, miss Higurashi."
Kagome sighed, "we've gone over this."
"Indeed, so do not waste your breath." His grip was tight on her hand, voice sharp.
A small beeping noise blared out from her watch. Kagome lay still beneath him.
Golden eyes gentled. "Where will you be next?"
"50 years into the past from now."
"Ah, I remember. You did seem calmer in our last meeting. Perhaps our time together today has… soothed any anxieties, priestess?"
Kagome squirmed out from beneath him and adjusted her skirts, picking out some hay from her hair. "I dunno," she murmured. "Nothing has changed."
We shouldn't do this.
Cold lips dragged across the nape of her neck, claws on her hips. "You are mine, Kagome. You will continue to be mine. I will reach your original time one day, and then you will not escape. I will turn you."
Kagome glanced at him over her shoulder, "Mhm. If you survive to then, I feel like you'd have done that by now, buster."
"I am most likely biding my time, for what I am unsure. Perhaps I anticipate the day you admit your love," he smirked.
Unable to ignore the beeping watch anymore, warning of a countdown, Kagome pressed a button that started coursing red static over her body. "Don't hold your breath, vampire," she said quietly.
Sesshoumaru felt her squeeze his hand, reluctance flashing in her eyes. And this was why. This was why he'd pursue her.
Because she asked him to, in the smallest, most silent of ways.
Kagome disappeared within the static, leaving him alone, blood smeared on his mouth, clothes rumpled and hay sticking in his fine hair.
Sesshoumaru brushed a hand over his mouth, licking at his chin to taste the remains of her on his skin. His blood heated, breath shuddering. Golden eyes flashed red.
"I will find you again."
