today is the first day of june. the woods were empty except for my dog and me and i let him run off-lead. while i turned my back to change my music, i looked up and - out of character for him, he was gone.
i called his name until my throat hurt. i knew i would keep calling him until i spat blood if it meant he'd show up. but he called back, eventually. a single, long whine. he had gotten his paw stuck under a branch. we both cried while i freed him, my arms wrapped around his frame. he was uninjured, just stuck. he was fine moments afterwards; bounding along happily.
later i texted my mom a picture of my eggs-and-toast. i told her about how at the end of the walk, we saw an older couple having a breakfast picnic. they had a blue cooler and matching clothes and held hands with each other over paper plates. i wanted to tell her something bigger, something without a name. about the loneliness.
i wanted to, but i didn't.
my dog is asleep in the other room. i can hear him snoring. i keep thinking about that moment of panic. about finding him tumbled to the ground, unmoving. i keep thinking about how scary it was for him too, trapped and unable to pronounce my name -
not being able to say mom, i'm here, and i'm trying to get home, but nature has gotten in the way.

if there's one thing this last episode has affirmed for me about Alastor it's that he FUCKING HATES being reminded that he's not the most powerful creature in hell.
Like, he hates being ignored by Carmilla when she says she doesn't care why he was gone
He hates Lucifer ON SIGHT
He threatens to KILL Husk when he dares to mention that Alastor is working for someone more powerful than him
and now this.
Alastor freaking out because he almost died. Something almost killed him. He can fucking die. There is something more powerful than him out there. And it's not something he can ignore or brush off because it almost killed him.
Alastor hates the reminder that he's not as powerful as he tells people he is. He isn't indestructible, he isn't invincible. And he fucking hates that.

Not to be That Guy but like.
Am I the only one that can't stop thinking about how Tianlang-Jun says about Luo Binghe that he pretends to be cold-hearted like his mother. The hint of fondness there, the heartache in that utterance.
Like it drives me absolutely insane. Imagining her putting on a front of strength, cold and driven and unrelenting. Why does TLJ say that about her. Did she secretly look for solutions that meant reconciling with demons instead of hurting them when her sect wasn't looking? (I wonder this because I feel like his weird fondness for SQQ would lowkey track if it's connected to the woman he once loved.) Did he mean that she was tasked with basically assassinating him and she fell in love with him instead (re: failed step one)? Did he mean that she was fond and doting in her own way (e.g. conceding he was attractive, paying for his exploits and humoring him)? Did he mean that, like LBH, she thought that power would be the thing to protect her--and that it was disguising a person who was deeply and privately wounded? All four????? I don't need sleep I need a n s w e r s
Did she know about the Huanhua Palace Master's skeevy ass intentions before she met TLJ? Or did those only come to significant light after she fell in love with TLJ? Is that why she never anticipated that level of betrayal, because initially she had no intention of being with anyone romantically? And HHPM just assumed she would be under his thumb forever?? Was she furious at her own indiscretion or did she try to use the pregnancy as a bargaining chip, a way to try to stop the immortals of Cang Qiong Mountain from attacking TLJ (plus the bonus of marriage entrapment no takesies backsies this is where LBH gets it from)? Did she try to use that claim on her to dissuade HHPM from his covetous advances, framing herself as tainted so that she could finally escape? Did she dream of a life by TLJ's side, far away from Cang Qiong Mountain?
Like. Literally every single permutation of what this could mean guts me to hell. Do you ever just cry about tianxi because I--[loud bawling noises]

Part 5 of the Linked Universe Winged Au! In the last poll you guys all voted for him so here he is, Wild!
<<< Previous Next >>>
As always, there has to be a silly little bird fact to start off with so did you know that the American Kestrel is the smallest falcon in North America and only weighs about 3-6 ounces which is the equivalent of 34 pennies? This fact isn't actually important lore wise for this headcanon, but it did remind me of the one post where someone discovered that BoTW Link weighs approximately 8.5 apples.
Anyways, as you may have guessed, Wild is heavily based on the American Kestrel because of their beautiful plumage and their unique behaviors and characteristics.
An example of one of these behaviors is that American Kestrels are known for capitalizing on favorable soaring conditions, such as mountain updrafts and thermals while traveling. In this headcanon, Wild shows this characteristic primarily through his use of Revali's Gale and his tendency to make fires in order to more easily take flight. While his methods are incredibly effective, they do also tend to scare the rest of the group the first time he does them. After all, it's not everyday you see someone make a fire and then run headfirst into it just to take off.
While this specific habit of his may appear to just be a funny little quirk that he just does because he's WILD, it's actually a result of his near death experience with Guardians. The scars on his face and body may be clearly visible to everyone around him, but the damage done to his wings is actually far less noticeable. His various injuries and scars actually have a major impact on his ability to take off and effect his stamina needed to maintain flight for long periods of time. Because of this, he tends to use the aforementioned methods to aid his flight or oftentimes simply chooses to leap off high surfaces and glide rather than attempt to take flight.
However, despite having difficulties with the initial takeoff and his struggles to maintain flight for long periods of time, he's actually very adept and capable of fighting in the air. The way he fights allows him to deliver sharp, agile, and accurate killing blows to his enemies in a way that others describe as, "Witnessing time seemingly slowing down for everyone but him." In other words, he's a real force to be reckoned in once he's finally airborne.
Anyways, there's more I could explain but that's all for now folks! As always, kudos to all those who read all that lore dump and thank you again for always being so kind and supportive! All your words of encouragement always inspire me to worker harder! Thank you all and please feel free to reach out with any questions or requests for who or what you would like to see next!
P.S. After much encouragement I did recently make a TikTok account where I'll try to be posting regularly! Feel free to check it and my Twitter out at sass_squat3! Thank you all again for your support! :D

Murderous König
God there are so so many couples I could slot this in with it's too good, I love that man with blood on his hands. Medieval!König has won, here's the tyrant.
You are a coward, you are many things, but most importantly to this moment you are a coward. Facing down the king in all his glory makes your blood run cold. You know who he is, of course you always know who he is. König is and always will be a blood thirsty man, one that you should fear more than you could ever hold affection for. Yet he has never raised a voice or hand to you without your consent, and you had forgotten- you had forgotten that this man was baptized in blood, crowned with his father's head still clenched in one giant bloody fist.
You stand in your garden, his garden, and you are a coward. König flips the hand-axe over in his hand, pulled from your gardening tools, and slashes it through a nobleman's neck with such a crack that the head goes flying from the body. You watch the twitch of fingers, the half raise of hands, the body still catching up to the severing before it falls to its knees and collapses onto the grass. Blood coats König's cape, drips from his hands and the chainmail covering his face. He rolls his shoulders and rears back with the axe and brings it down hard into the middle of the corpse, another crack in its spine. A splinter of some metal.
He tugs his axe free with a grunt and a short wiggle of the blade, then reaches to pull a knife from the blood soaked tunic. The blade is broken in half, but that doesn't stop him from clutching the handle and throwing it hard into the back of the nobleman's fleeing secretary. The knife doesn't even have a point, you hear the thunk of it as it lodges the broken end into the secretary's spine, and the man falls.
You're a coward, you stand frozen and watch as König stalks over to finish the job. He brings the axe down four times before you jerk your head to avert your gaze. The force he uses, it's a quick death, it's blood lust that keeps him beating a corpse. You don't know how long you stand there, don't know how long the sickening thunk rings through your ears after König has stopped his assault. You don't know why you flinch away from the warm wet leather that grips your jaw. König has never raised his voice or hand to you, and he still doesn't, even when you push at his grip and try to keep your breathing steady.
"Do not be afraid Liebling," König coos, you can smell the blood as he leans close to rub his nose against your cheek, the metal rings drag sickly smearing red over your skin, "I won't hurt you,-" you swallow, squeeze your eyes shut, "-not without cause."
"And what cause did they give you?" You ask, because your curiosity will always get the better of you. König hums, turns his head to rub your cheeks together.
"They were coveting something they shouldn't have," You shudder, hear the axe drop so König can slip his hand around your waist, grip the back of your skirt and pull you close, "if you weren't here-" There's something disguised as gentleness in König's tone, something with teeth, something that warns you against listening too closely to the words he says, "-I might have let them live."
"You killed them for me," Your voice wavers, half question, half truth. You know- you know, that König's love is something alien to humanity, something that you can only understand in the moments he's inside you.
"It's important to know the man you're marrying," König tells you, with the same casual airs as giving you his favorite color, or his least favorite food. Still, the threat of marriage snaps you back to yourself, reminds you of the firm hand your king comes to you for.
"We're not getting married." You remind him.
"We're not getting married yet, Schatz," He assures you, pulling away only to let you see the dangerous spark in his eyes, "but we will."

am i gonna put you in the book acknowledgements am i gonna be able to say your name without flinching am i ever gonna get a word in edgewise am i ever gonna recover the time i spent with you. computer virus kid; i arrived in your life already begging to be let in. somehow insecure i could even be your friend. like you had a line outside the door and we were all shifting our weight, begging.
you're so fucking good at that - at making people feel like they need to earn you, like you're a commodity none of us can afford. no kindness or careful communication could work on you - you were so good at just going-ghost, about deciding someone just wasn't cool-enough. something about that is super ironic. even the parts of it that weren't romantic felt like a romance book. i wanted you to like me so badly i scrubbed myself clean just so you'd spare me - what. your favor? a look?
okay okay okay. it's just a friendship - if it was even true that we were friends, if you even saw me as someone you trusted. on reddit someone would tell me girl literally just cut her out of your life, it's not that difficult. even i was aware of how fucked up the whole situation was. like, why the fuck do i even care about your approval? you're like, not even that fun to be around. you are often a little bit cruel.
but for almost four years of my life, i thought i had found someone like me. somebody who liked the same things i do. someone who liked to read and who liked making jokes with esoteric references and who spent maybe too much time on the internet and who was absolutely a little bit pretentious. i don't know, something about that was powerful and addictive.
i keep thinking about our last conversation. about how i said - okay, enough is enough. you pushed me too far, you really hurt my feelings.
and how you laughed and said - you think you're the victim?

Danny makes jokes out of anyone finding out ghosts are real.
But only when it’s done through “accidental summonings”. In all fairness, if he hadn’t become a ghost at 14, he probably would have fuc-messed around with a ouija board too. So he can’t really blame them when the poor unfortunate souls happen to guess the correct phrase.
(And before you ask, it’s the ghostbusters theme song because of course it is.)
Instead of giving his victims summoners a heart attack, he decides to go for a more… Matrix approach. Incorporate a little humor into an otherwise terrifying experience.
Rather than a red pill and a blue pill though, he gives out a bright green glowing pill and piece of candy. He definitely gets annoyed more people don’t go for the candy. Just because it’s clearly the wrong answer doesn’t mean you should miss the opportunity for a delicious snack!
