Don’t you ever wonder what kind of secrets and plot points Venti keeps hidden? He claims to be the weakest amongst the Seven-and that could be true given his whole 500 year slumber and poison and all- but he’s still a god. AND one of the original Seven. You gotta be good at SOMETHING to survive for this long…
He’s also the only archon so far that doesn’t have a second story quest so what is he hiding?! We have accounts of him literally shaping the land with ease from both the Golden Apple Archipelago events and his character stories. We know that he has close relationships with the Hexenzirkel and somehow managed to avoid conflict with them??? And there’s also the fact from the skyward sword series that he was originally a catalyst user before picking up the bow in honor of Amos. He’s pulling a Childe when it comes to weapons he currently uses and the ones he’s proficient in.
And don’t even get me started on his connection with Istharoth and Celestia! Mondstadt already has the Thousands Winds Temple AND the nameless island where both Venti and Istharoth were once worshipped. And from Before Sun and Moon, we know that the Thousand Winds (which Venti IS A PART OF) were once called the Thousand Winds of TIME, all of whom were created and controlled by Istharoth. AND THEN you have Venti suspiciously appearing in the right place at the right time again and again and again. He even self proclaimed knowing every song: past, present, and future. Hell he’s probably one of the only few beings in Teyvat who can naturally bypass Irminsul because of his songs: Nahida already shown it’s possible to save deleted info if rearranged into fiction so the same should work for songs and poetry. And there’s also what the hydro fungus in Nahida’s second story quest said about changing forms. That you need time for growth to occur. And Nahida - an ARCHON- had trouble maintaining her fungus form for even the short period of time. She was even told that to do so for longer, one would need to bypass time itself which is near impossible. AND YET VENTI CHANGED INTO THE FORM OF HIS FRIEND IMMEDIATELY AFTER RECEIVING HIS GNOSIS AND HAS YET TO CHANGE BACK OR TIRE FROM FATIGUE (as we know it). HOW STRONG IS HE. Sure, the yokai in Inazuma and Adepti in Liyue can all change into a human form, but we know in game that it takes a long time and steady energy to take on a human shape, and the Adepti all seem to have that ability naturally: there’s no bending the laws of nature if it’s already natural to them. So what’s Venti’s excuse?!
As for Celestia: there’s already written in the statue of Barbatos “the gateway to Celestia” and what not. And Khanreia! In the chasm AND in the Caribert quest, Barbatos and Mondstadt keep getting named dropped. According to Dainself, the city in the chasm is supposedly OLDER than Khanreia and possibly the Seven, yet BARBATOS of all beings is mentioned in the records you find??? And in Caribert, it’s a Mondstadtian woman who that one bloke had a child with. Never mind that Mondstadt is where Kaeya and Albedo - the two characters with confirmed Khanreian origins- end up! There’s also the fact that Khanreia seems to base its gods and names and whatever around Norse mythology….which has strong ties to GERMANIC HISTORY. WHICH MONDSTADT IS BASED OFF OF. And Enkanomiya, which was once ruled by Istaroth, is Greek origin. Suspicious considering all the connections to HERMES Venti keeps portraying. (And then there’s also a connection to all three places with the hexenzerkel with their Chinese names? Like I think I read somewhere that Alice is Aries(?)/Eris(?) and Nicole is actually Nike in the Chinese version? Which are very much based in Roman/Greek origins)
Oh and something I forgot to mention earlier with the whole Istharoth connection. Mondstadt’s saying “seeds of stories, brought by the wind, and cultivated through time”. SUSPICIOUS
Tumblr media
Anyways, this has been my nonsensical Venti theory rant
And you’re stuck with me @worldsokayestmagicalgirl

been brainrotting Venti recently and all of his lore so just gonna put it somewhere that’s not my head
Some basics on Venti: he is the Anemo Archon of Mondstadt, with connections to wine and song, but with the official dominion of Wind, and his ideal is Freedom. He currently disguises himself as a carefree bard. His character story and Neuvi’s voice lines also declare him to be a god of hope.
when we first meet him he teleports away in a flash of Anemo (he can teleport!!) and we learn when we enter mond that the god Barbatos (an original member of the Seven) has been MIA for a long time. He’s not the one running the place, the Ordo Favonius are, but he does have a church and Mondstadters habitually give each other blessings from the wind. He himself has a habit of sleeping for long periods of time.
okay, cool. Venti himself helps us save Dvalin, casually revealing he’s the Anemo Archon just to get hold of the Holy Lyre. He breaks it when we’re on the quest, but returns it to Barbara magically fixed (and implies that she’ll find it broken again soon). His Gnosis is stolen (guys he can Teleport!!!) from him, but he returns to Windrise to recover.
He also gives us the basics on Teyvat’s elemental powers, and tells us a god’s power is based in how much control they exert over their nation (this is later contradicted by Nahida + Focalors,,,, so chances are that he was lying!)
then we also have Carmen Dei, the only archon story quest to not have a part 2. In “Should You Be Trapped In A Windless Land” (and we’ll explore what wind means in Teyvat), Venti uses his godly powers to help Stanley, a boastful adventurer who has taken on the face and identity of his friend in order to carry on his memory. The friend died in Mare Jivari, the ‘windless land’ likely referenced by the quest title.
Venti then sings the story of how he, “a single thread of the thousand winds” (Venti character story), became an archon. He reveals he too has taken on the face of his friend who died among the revolt against Decarabian in Old Mond that ended with Venti being seated as the god.
(Guys he has associations with death!! It doesn’t stop here, Weinlesefest and Mond legends about your spirit being guided back home by the wind, even the connections in events to Hu Tao like !!!)
He hasn’t appeared much in main story, honestly. But there are so many crumbs that lead back to Barbatos and his homeland of Mond that one HAS to wonder: what is going on with him?
His drip marketing? oh he’s the “prodigal son”. son of who???
(“she was the moment. she was every moment… every second of joy, every moment of rage, every instant of longing, every flash of delirium”)
furthermore we’ve got more from his demo: “full of mystery, born from the branches of time / a history of glory and sorrow, and witness to the divine”.
so he’s the “prodigal son”, “born from the branches of time”, who is “full of mystery”, has “a history of glory and sorrow”, and serves as a “witness to the divine”.
what do his character stories have to say? a LOT. they call him “a single thread of the thousand winds”, “without a shred of divine dignity” (pre archon war). And they claim he became a god once the rebellion succeeded (it kinda makes sense, he was the spirit most associated with them after all, and as we know - gods of Teyvat draw power from their believers)
The 5th story remarks that Venti both should and should not be given credit for Mond’s prosperity, since it’s the doing of the Four Winds (which he established lol) but also he’s the one ensuring that the tales of their deeds are passed on.
ok let’s break this down. he’s the prodigal son? the question of his parentage seems to have found it’s definitive answer. Mondstadtian sayings commonly associate the wind with the passage of time, and there are temples to time and a god of time in Mond, which have now come to ruins. They were worshipped alongside Venti for a long time, but their significance diminished and eroded.
Now, in Enka we discovered records of Istaroth, who was also known by the Enkanomiyans as their Goddess of Time, and is the premier candidate (by lore enthusiast consensus) for the god that would’ve been worshipped alongside Venti.
She is also (I’m convinced) Venti’s mom. Remember, he was said to be “born of the branches of time” and “a single thread of the thousand winds”. What was Istaroth’s epithet? She’s the Thousand Winds. We are literally told he was a part of her.
We also have evidence to support Venti having time-based powers. Remember the Weinlesefest memories brought by the wind? He also “knows all songs, past and future”. And furthermore, he might have just rewound the Holy Lyre instead of actually fixing it permanently.
The real question up for debate is whether or not Venti is part of her or a completely unique entity. Both are possible, honestly. I mean, they coexisted. It’s just that the phrasing “a branch” bothers me because it was the exact same phrase used to reference what Nahida is to Rukkha but that much could just be coincidence.
I think we’ve established by now that he’s seen a history full of glory and sorrow, and that he’s full of mystery. So what’s left?
He “knows all songs, past and future” and he is a “witness of the divine”. And his character story supports that, highlighting the importance of his role as a witness to the history of Mond and the feats of the Four Winds. In light of the Sumeru and Fontaine AQs, where we learned that info can be erased from Irminsul and can only be preserved either through the memory of a Witness from outside the world or the creation of an allegorical tale that seems just fictional enough to bypass the Irminsul censors. Also, the importance of what we see being the truth.
(Oh yeah: forgot to mention that he also tends to play this role in history, where he doesn’t interfere much himself but he picks a hero to address a task and then supports them however they need to get the job done. This traces back all the way to his time with Decarabian; he didn’t fight in the war itself, but he watched the Nameless Bard and his countrymen do it, and recorded it in song. Same for Vennessa and the Revolution against the aristocracy).
(guys he is a god of hope and of freedom)
Carmen Dei the story quest does not have a part two. I fear for the day it does, frankly, because we will learn a LOT about this silly little man.

i saw you reblogged something from with the tags saying you dont want to infodump about languages in teyvat but fun fact. i would Love to hear your thoughts about language in teyvat. i actually think there's evidence to support regional dialects apart from a common tongue that is spoken, but I would love to hear your thoughts
@andreaissy
So, I will simply answer both of y'all here since you asked similar questions. Hope you don't mind ;)
There's this thing, it's an actual field of study in Teyvat, called the origin of language.
The Academya has these principals, to avoid their students going insane, called the cardinal sins. You might know them from Al Haitham's and Cyno's demos(? Either demos or teasers), it's also in Al Haitham's story quest and shit, either way, these are the principals.
Tumblr media
Most of these are legit very interesting because they are an extension of Celestia's will as the students that study them go crazy because they've found out something they shouldn't.
Now, for the sake of this theory let's ignore the others and look at just the fourth one.
Why would Etymology be so bad? You may ask.
Well! It's *puts tinfoil hat on* because of aliens.
Kidding. But not really.
So, brief history of the founding of Teyvat.
In an era known as the "old world," dragons and vishaps are the overlords of the world, with the Seven Sovereigns — dragon-lords at the apex of raw, whom ruled over seven nations, and each land they inhabited was attuned to their presence.
At some point, the Primordial One, also known as the "eternal throne of the heavens," appears in the world and colonizes the shit out of it like he goes ham, kills all the dragon lord, creates four shades, reshapes the world almost entirely.
After around 400 years, the Primordial One finishes preparing the world for the arrival of humanity.
Yes, Arrival. Humans are not native to Teyvat.
Humanity moves there and founds a gigantic civilization that last the entirety of Teyvat, which flourishes under the control of the first who came. It's destroyed later for complex reason, whatever whatever...
Thing is! Thing is! All humans descend from this one specific civilation and they speak one single language. Now, that leads me to believe that the reasln people from Sneznaya to Inazuma all speak the same language is because in Teyvat language doesn't seem to drift tremendously, like we can read shit from archon war time and shit.
It's like language not drifting is one of Teyvat's many laws and odd principles.
And yeah! That definitely could be narrative and handwaving but it's weird to handwaved shit when it's part of a much larger theory and shit.
So yeah, unified language theory.

.headcanon 10: fallen dynasties & kingdoms crumbled
Seven Sovereigns – Dragon Lords
Before Teyvat became the seven nations ruled by the Archons, there existed another civilization long before. The Realm of Vishaps was under the reign of the Seven Sovereigns: seven Dragon Lords of each element. They ruled peacefully and coexisted with one another. There’s no doubt that they had a language and means of communication of their own. A history, intelligence and culture that varied from place to place.
During our time in Enkanomiya, we learn that after the Primordial One ( PO ) dethroned the Dragon Lords and drove their subjects underground or into the sea, they began terraforming Teyvat. From there grass, flowers, rivers and mountains were created. Then came animals and humans. From this, we can safely conclude that Retuo/Azhdaha was one of the original Seven Sovereigns that ruled the lands.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
As stated by Jiu and the item story for Dreams of Dragonfell, Retuo is ‘far more ancient than [the mountains of Liyue]’. Another is when Jiu called Rex Lapis a ‘usurper’. And finally, the Stone Monument in Tianqiu Valley that was written by a ‘grieving servant’ called their lord a ‘wise and benevolent ruler’.
Tumblr media
“徽若陀兮叡后”, lit. "constrained retuo ah benevolent ruler", or "good/grand retuo ah benevolent ruler".
Since we learned from his first phase song that he had dominion over the area from Qingxu Pool to Tianqiu Valley, it likely refers to him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The song also references what happens to the vishaps more directly. As far as we know, the vishaps only reappeared more recently with the weakening of his seal. Humans haven’t really had interactions with geovishaps for millennia. And their mining operations in the mountains weren’t something done out of malice; humans likely had no idea about the Ley Lines there, let alone Retuo’s connection to them. So it stands to reason that the ‘harsh’ treatment or ‘belittlement’ the vishaps received was from when PO ran them out.
I used to believe that was because he was leader of the vishaps during the time he was above ground, but with Enkanomiya’s lore reveal, I’m moreso leaning towards this idea which has more ground ( haha ).
Now that we know that the geography was obviously different during the reign of the Seven Sovereigns, I think that Retuo born blind because he didn’t need to see. Sight was never something he needed when he ruled. For the Ley Lines that sustained him, told him all he needed to know.
When the vishaps were driven into the sea, the ones that didn’t took to the ground. Retuo was one of them. He was gravely injured and it was only due to his connections to the Ley Lines that he managed to survive where the Anemo dragon did not. Hence Dvalin’s young age in comparison, as he is the Wind Dragon’s reincarnation.
Going by these facts, this proves that storyteller was wrong about Morax ‘carving a dragon and giving life to it’, proving again that most of the folklore in Teyvat is flawed.
It is also worth noting that the Bathysmal Vishaps are different compared to Geovishaps. The first thing we notice is that they don’t change colors and only have the ability to use cryo or electro. Which is unlike the mature geovishaps and Primo Geovishap who change their colors depending on what element is being channeled.
From the notes found in Enkanomiya, we are told that the Bathysmal Vishaps were subjects to many experiments and forced breeding. Not to mention, that without a pure connection to the Ley Lines, they evolved to adapt to their circumstances. Note that we don’t see any Domains or Ley Line blossoms as we do anywhere else in Teyvat here. It also would explain why the vishaps here were forced to resort to eating humans ( as that was the newest thing to gain sustenance from ) and a more biological way to reproduce. This is likely the reason the Bathysmal Vishaps are considered to be ‘impure’.
Perhaps it is due to their change into a more animal-like/organic creature. That’s why the reborn Water Dragon won’t be born to them.
Awaken – Dragon King
An undeterminable amount of time later ( probably millennia ) Retuo wakes after recovering from his deep wounds. Crying and and bemoaning his fate and that of his friends/followers causes tremors. It is then that Morax finds the newly awakened Geo Dragon.
Retuo is grateful to Morax for helping him get out because seal created by the Primordial One that kept the vishaps imprisoned in the sea and ground made it so he couldn’t free himself. And of course for granting him eyes to see this new world. A world so alien from his old home, one that spoke of blue skies and the sun that shone brightly on lush green. One he has only heard of from the Ley Lines.
One would not understand the yearning of a dragon who had never seen the Sun.
As a side note, it turns out he really likes flowers because they weren’t a thing and now he can see!
Archon War – A New Cycle
They say that time is a wheel and history is doomed to repeat itself. The Heavenly Principles dictate all that occurs. Retuo witnessing the Archon War and Havria retreating underground probably reminded him of what happened to the Vishaps. Once more they fight over land that did not originally belong to them, for the sake of ruling.
It's likely that the Archons don't know the #truth since Orobashi was punished for reading from the forbidden book. And though he witnesses and sees that the Archons are ascended via Celestia, he realizes that there's no point in blaming them. Same with humans, ( pre Erosion ) he doesn't hate them for existing.
From what Kun Jun said in the cutscene, he understands what is necessary to move forward. They hold no grudges for those who did not commit the sins against them and their kin. The Archons and humans are innocent of that crime.
Tumblr media
Retuo is a very reasonable and kind being despite the injustices he and the vishaps faced. He is also to set aside his own agenda to help pave the way towards a brighter future for everyone. No wonder he was called a ‘benevolent and wise ruler’!
Of course there are parts of him that hold some resentment because it can't be helped. Hence you have Jiu calling Rex Lapis a ‘Usurper’ and ‘Lord of Insects’. There are emotions that one cannot help but feel under certain circumstances.
Because everything has been very unfair to them from the start, but it remains...an inevitable misfortune.

Enkanomiya :analysis
Tumblr media
-A few things I noticed, first of all: Enkanomiya isn’t part of inazuma- the Enkanomiya region isn't part of the main Teyvat map it’s like a completely different world. instead has its own section within the game’s map, much like the Golden Apple Archipelago from the 1.6 update.and the serenitea pot.
also I’ve read on some leaks (may not be 100% reliable) that Enkanomiya is a Sumeru themed region.
-Enkanomiya isn’t like Inazuma, it’s kind of a dark hybrid of regions we’ve got and regions have yet to come. The fact that it’s so far deep and no light has reached it all, but animals and plants still manage to grow is interesting. The plants grow differently to the plants exposed to sunlight. (Which makes sense)
- Enkanomiya is the only place so far with no statues of the seven. I don’t think there’s a proper lore explanation (but if anyone knows please tell me)
Tumblr media
A few things I’ve gathered off resources :
Land of the White Night", "Midnight Sun")[1] and Tokoyokoku(Japanese: 常世国), is a location under Inazuma. It can be entered via a deep pool east of Sangonomiya Shrine, and legend has it that the Watatsumi people originated from here.[2]Although Enknanomiya is located under Watatsumi Island, it is still part of Teyvat, though somewhat disconnected from it.[1]
To enter Enkanomiya, the seals on the five Goshou Rocks are broken for the pearls located within the shrines for the Key of the Moon-bathed Deep, which would allow entry to Enkanomiya, provided that the spirit veins connecting Enkanomiya and Watatsumi Island are flowing smoothly and a person whose heart is "as clear as water". According to legend, the key was forged from Orobashi's blood
some history:
island nation of Byakuyakoku somehow sank to the bottom of the ocean,[1] where they were terrorized by the Dragonheir of the Depths and the Bathysmal Vishaps. Even though Phanes, the Primordial One, and three of his shinning shades did not hear the pleas of the people, Istaroth, the "Ruler of Time", heard and helped them by giving enough wisdom to Abrax so he could create the Dainichi Mikoshi. Only through the light of the Dainichi Mikoshi were they barely able to survive. Some great Watatsumi houses such as the Yuna Clan trace back to those days.
After being defeated in the Archon War and fleeing the continent of Teyvat, the ancient god later known as Orobashi no Mikoto appeared in Byakuyakoku. The people of Enkanomiya also had relations with the people of Khaenri'ah. Taking pity on them, Orobashi defeated the Dragonheir and sealed it away. Orobashi then used the coral growing off its body to create a path back to the surface world and create Watatsumi Island The people it saved dubbed this new land "Sangonomiya" and in turn began referring to Byakuyakoku as "Enkanomiya". They also began worshipping this god as their "Orobashi no Mikoto" and "Watatsumi Omikami".
Every few thousand of years, Enkanomiya begins to bleach Watatsumi Island's soil, which would endanger the island and slowly turn it into desert if not dealt with accordingly, along with the Dragonheir of the Depths or some other monster that may have resided inside and waiting to escape to the surface. Recently, Tsuyuko requested the Traveler to remove the five seals to obtain the Key of the Moon-bathed Deep while sending a request to Sangonomiya Kokomi to authorize entry into Enkanomiya to deal with the problem, who eventually gave them permission to enter and retrieve the Bloodbranch Coral. During the Traveler's trip into Enkanomiya, they discovered the ancient Bathysmal Vishaps along with numerous hilichurls and traces of the Abyss Order, having been sent by "Enjou" to search for the book "Before Sun and Moon" hidden inside to prove that the gods and Celestia came from outside Teyvat.
so yeah. I found that quite interesting, if you haven’t done the world quest yet I suggest to do it. i got this information from the Genshin wiki and a few other sites.
Upcoming posts :
idk when, but I’m gonna analyse Sumeru (or what we know about it, in the future )
-Seirai Island
-Watatsumi Island
-Tsurumi Island
(there may be posts in between but I’m eventually gonna make these, when I’m bothered or have inspo.)
also shoutout to @ofonikabutobeetlesandmen if you haven’t seen her account go see it, her posts are really good and I actually got inspired to write this because of her. So yeah, go see her account -if you find reading different Region analysis interesting then go look at it.

I find it very interesting that Venti is repeatedly called the weakest of the Seven and yet in his lore he supposedly was the one to level the mountains that made up Mondstadt at the time, essentially terraforming it with only the power of wind
In fact the history of Musk Reef is that it used to be a mountain, Pilos Peak, as mentioned in the Unreconciled Stars event, but Barbatos destroyed the mountain completely and the peak of it was swept off into the newly formed sea
Now this was almost 2,600 years ago from modern Teyvat, so multiple things could have happened since then to make sense of the amount of power that Barbatos once had to the power the bard had before his gnosis was stolen
1. The original Seven Archons were just that powerful that even the ability to reshape a country paled in comparison to their own power
Venti being referred to as the weakest could simply be in comparison to the great amount of power wielded by the other members of the original Seven
(I don’t think that the modern day Seven will be comparable to the first ones, for both power scaling issues in game mechanics, and we don’t know how these new gods came into possession of their gnosises, some could even have been mortal once)
2. Venti has been gradually losing power as he refuses to rule Mondstadt, but he started out with an incredible amount after he received it
We know this is mostly correct, as the Archon’s direct control over a land influences their power, but while Barbatos was leading his people in revolution he had direct control over them for a brief period, which might have given him the power to reshape the landscape
3. Venti lost a good chunk of his power in the Cataclysm that destroyed Khaenri’ah, killed the God of the Woods, and turned the Tsaritsa “evil”
I put these events in the same category because they all happened at the same time, 500 years ago, and this is more of a crackpot theory anyway
The history of Khaenri’ah and Barbatos are somehow linked, as Mondstadt seems to have been the closest nation to it before the Cataclysm. We know from the manga that Venti holds no love for Celestia and might even fear them. The Cataclysm occurred when the alchemist Gold’s experiments grew out of control and its people thought to have been cursed by Celestia because of that arrogance. It’s implied that the God of the Woods was present and killed in the disaster in the chinese version of the Viridescent Venerer set. The corruption of Durin also occurred around the same time period.
Mondstadt sent assistance to their neighboring nation during the crisis leading to the Knight Rostam, the Crimson Witch and the Viridescent Venerer falling in battle. I think that as the Cataclysm was part of divine punishment for Khaenri’ah, Baratos was “punished” for helping by both the arrival of Durin following the fall of Khaenri’ah and losing a great deal of his power and connection to Celestia.

Genshin OC: Spritefather
(A/N: I'm not used to character descriptions, I'm more used to story writing. So sorry if this isn't good. Also note that this character's history with Baal is a lot darker than originally planned)
Spritefather is an ancient immortal of unknown origin, he's rarely seen by mortal eyes but he is referenced in much of teyvat's legends. His legend depends on the region: in mondstadt he is the father of Barbados, who raised him to follow the path of freedom. In Liyue he helped Rex Lapis connect with mortals by showing him the many artist and singers of the land. In Inazuma he was the husband of Baal before they came to blows when she began the vision hunt. And in Schneznaya he's known as the man who told the Tsarista "fuck off pretender, I'm making cheese" when she ordered he move his camp to make way for a fatui building.
Personally
"Humans are so nice to look at, but Interaction is a bit of a chore."
-Spritefather
Spritefather is a very calm and kind man, as evidenced by his adopting of orphaned sprites and his ability to not lose it at over 30 children. He often wanders around the wilds of Teyvat to admire the beauty of the land and is often accompanied by seven of his children, each a different elemental sprite.
As mondstadt's legend's state, he loves freedom. To him freedom is the natural state of all things, and since he loves nature he loves freedom as well.
To him humans are difficult to understand, and their customs and behaviors are tiring to perform. However he finds Sprites to be more "simple". Their language is clear to him, and their customs and behaviors are casual and easy.
While he prefers to be around sprites and animals, he does love humans as well. He think the art they paint, the stories they write, and the songs they sing are all gifts to the world. Even if a painting envokes no emotion, a story has terrible writing, or a song makes your ears hurt, he will love it and the human who made it. Because to him creativity is the ultimate freedom, and as such is the ultimate beauty.
He is not above hate however. For instance the Tsarista hates his eldest son, so he hates her. However he also does not like to fight, so when he hates someone enough to act against them he will instead prank them and cause them misfortune. This is what lead to him calling the Tsarista a "pretender", because it upsets her, and getting in her way when she made the fatui headquarters.
He is, however, capable of fighting. He is an immortal after all, so it would only make sense he would be capable of defending himself.
History with Barbados
According to mondstadt legend, Barbados almost died in Decrabain's storms before he ascended to godhood. And it was only because of the Spritefather that he lived.
While the legend isn't entirely incorrect, it is plagued with inaccuracies thanks to the people of mondstadt not knowing of Barbados' origin as a sprite.
Long before Barbados met his friend Himmel, the Sprite struggled to persist in the cold storms that surrounded mondstadt. One day he almost faded away, thanks to an avalanche trapping him inside a cave in what is now Dragonspine. Luckily for him, Spritefather was in that cave as well. Though at the time he was simply known as the "husband of eternity", as he was the electro archon's husband. He saw Barbados was starving and freezing, do he picked up the little Sprite and hugged him close to his chest, using his power to transfer all his heat to the sprite. He didn't have much food, but he gave all of it to Barbados in order to keep them alive until the snow cleared away. In the six months they spent in their he told Barbados of the world outside of the storm, how even in war it was filled with beauty, of the many wonderous people he had met on his travels, and of his beloved homeland of Inazuma.
When the snow cleared long enough for the avalanche to clear away, both left, and while Barbados wanted to join the Spritefather the man insisted that Barbados journey his homeland and find people that could make this land worth living in.
Despite his insistence that he would not return, Spritefather continued to return to Barbados and help him live through the storm. Even meeting the bard Barbados became friends with, and comforted him when the bard passed away.
And while the legends say Spritefather taught Barbados to love freedom, he only taught Barbados the philosophy of freedom. And Spritefather, who usually dislikes unnecessary violence, wishes to smack whoever gives him credit for teaching Barbados to love freedom, because it further erases his child's friend from history.
History with Baal
(Note: this might change depending on lore for Baal as it expands)
Long ago, before they ascended to godhood, Baal met Spritefather. At the time he was not known as anything, as he was but an immortal who had nothing to his name. He would observe humans, but noone ever saw him, in fact it seemed that he was invisible to all but Baal.
They continued to meet many more times, each time growing closer and closer. Spritefather telling her of the great history of the world and it's people, and Baal telling him about her day. While to many this would seem an unfair exchange, to Spritefather her days as a mortal was the most amazing stories in all of Teyvat.
When she ascended to godhood Baal used he powers to make Spritefather visible to humanity, so that he may live with them and they may live with him. It was this act that lead to him proposing to her.
After his travels around Teyvat were done, and because of his encounter with Barbados, Spritefather brought up the idea of children to Baal, an idea she equally loved. And so they began to create many electrosprites, and any orphaned sprites they could find immediately became a part of their family, for many centuries the land of Inazuma was also known as the land of Sprites because of how many would fly around the land.
With such a loving relationship, one must wonder what led to them coming to blows.
Fall of Baal
(Tw: this bit includes abuse. Not detailed, but made crystal clear)
Spritefather was appalled when Baal declared the Vision hunts. She claimed that Visions are divine power, and as such belong to the divine alone. But the Spritefather saw it as egotism and denying mortals the rewards they worked so hard to gain.
Tensions rose quickly in their relationship, Baal became more and more frustrated at her husband's opposition to her plans, and how even her children became afraid of her after she began the Vision hunts. Eventually this lead to her most horrific act: abusing Spritefather. She claimed that it was "teaching him to love her" and she was "trying to bring him back to his senses", but his scars made it abundantly clear to everyone who saw him.
While many claim he came to blows with Baal, such an event never happened. What happened instead was Baal almost beat him to death, with a gift he gave to her no less. But the Sprites saved him. All the Sprites in the land of Inazuma came together and, with the combined elemental might of million Sprites, blasted Baal away from their Father and flew him to safety.
Sadly, however, this release of elemental energy did not leave many of the sprites alive. In fact, now only seven of them live. One of each element.
History with the Tsarista
Because she hates his son, Spritefather hates her. In fact many of the bard Venti's tales of Barbados troubling the cryo archon is based off of Spritefather pranking the Tsarista or otherwise being a nuisance. One of the best ones according to him is when he had a bug camp built in the place where Tsarista wantsd to build the fatui headquarters. While she could have killed anyone else, Spritefather is, well, immortal, so that was out. In fact he's the only person who has gotten the Tsarista to give up.
History with Rex Lapis
After a few centuries of being a God, Rex Lapis began to become apathetic to mortals, something Barbados mentioned to his father over wine.
Because of his love for mortals, and having seen the effects of an archon becoming apathetic to their people twice now, Spritefather decided to pay Rex Lapis a visit.
Yo keep him in touch with his people, Spritefather had Rex Lapis take the form of a human and then dragged him from his home in the heavens down to earth by the ear. When they arrived in Liyue he had Rex Lapis see the many arts of Liyue: the dancers, the singers, the poets, they painters, and even the cooks of Liyue. Over the course of a year he showed Rex Lapis the greatness of humanity, and renewed the god's interest in his people.
Description
Spritefather wears a cloak that is similar to a Sprite's body, however it is colored with the seven different colors of the elements. Under his cloak he wears a simple black leather outfit on his whole body. His eyes glow yellow causing them to appear as yellow dots beneath his cloak, and when his hair is visible it is short and brown.
The most notable part of his appearance below his cloak his the electro scar covering his whole neck, and below his whole outfit is almost his entire body covered in electrical burns and electro scars.
