mass effect fandom typically has no problem disregarding or rewriting portions of canon, but one thing i have almost never seen touched is the friendship between garrus and shepard. so here is a poll because i am genuinely curious. i tried to be as expansive as poll limitations allowed, but since we are already throwing out canon i recognize there are a lot of variances that haven't been included. because of that, i would particularly like it if people elaborated about their non-romantic relationship with garrus in the tags, comments, or reblogs - especially if you are someone who has voted for any of the non-friend options. thanks for your time!
this post is not meant to be garrus critical. garrus enjoyers are welcome to participate in the poll, i only ask that you are respectful toward other people who may not have him as their favorite, or who may just simply roleplay a shepard that does not have him as their (best) friend for whatever reason.

You know, I would love it if we could see Mihawk just. Get slightly fucked up by someone, have his sword stolen and watch him figure out how to fight with some random ass sword instead
I just think. It'd be neat.
Like we kinda know how The World's Greatest Swordsman fights with his itty bitty knife, we know what kind of damage he can do with his iconic Yoru
I just think it'd be fun to see him fight with a regular katana and try to get his stolen sword back or summin' IDK

Honestly, Zoro could be revealed to be from the Grand Line or the New World and I would not even be surprised...
Zoro is absolutely the kind of person who would accidentally wander off and then proceed to get so lost that he winds up in a different sea altogether.
Can you imagine if the Straw Hats went to the next island and the people immediately recognize Zoro on the docks?
People calling out his name and saying, "Where have you been?!"
And the other Straw Hats are like, "You're from the Grand Line?!"
And Zoro's just, "I'm from the Grand Line?!"
-
Or, alternatively:
Zoro is convinced that — rather than him being from the Grand Line — Nami must've somehow managed to accidentally navigate them all the way back to the East Blue, and it's the Straw Hats who are now lost.

being a gbf fan and also being in a more slice-of-life series means i get the worst of whiplashes where i’m over here, on my blog, spending all day talking about how great and pitiful characters involved in various atrocities from murder, torture, apocalypse, and worse implied horrors, and then on the same day i see a notification in my activity reblogging a post from the slice of life saga, with a content warning tag for one of the characters who’s worst crime was kidnapping with no intention of harm.
it’s like. yeah you tag anything you need for blacklist for you but it truly is quite the timing. have you seen my blog even.

Just watched the fuckery episode again and it’s so funny to watch Jim in the background of the duel. They literally don’t give a single fuck who wins, they’re just there for the chaos and entertainment. Sipping their drink, miming fighting moves, and looking genuinely shocked and amused when Stede wins (this all, of course, after their disemboweling skit where they were having the time of their damn life). I love them.

AAAAAA PIRATE AU!! Going with the idea of mermaids being a hunted species the original anon had, that gives us a reason to bring the side characters in too right? IIRC in the original event they infiltrated the Lamentation crew because there was like a bounty on their heads (as illegal pirates), because Diavolo's a lord whose land needed money... but-
Maybe in our Pirate AU Diavolo's like a naive prince, doesn't know much about the world, and Barbatos + the Purgatrio are members of the royal household. (Barb is his butler, Sol is like the court's sorcerer, Simeon is part of the royal guard, Luke's a trainee servant). Diavolo wants to win more of his father's affection, and he figures that he'll do that by capturing those famous Lamentation pirates. Except it's hella difficult to infiltrate that crew bc 1. you can't track em down, 2. they're very distrustful, 3. they're not exactly looking for new members.
Idk what the connective tissue here should be but somehow they do get acquainted with the crew, and Diavolo switches the plan to abducting IK since a prized (live) mermaid would be very valuable to the king and is easier to get than an entire pirate crew. Except it's nigh impossible to do and also now he's getting attached to his new friends and oh no IK's such a cute lil kid what's he supposed to do now--
oo cool concept!! maybe diavolo and his gang stage a shipwreck or something, where they study the lamentation crew’s movements for long enough to predict where they’ll be heading, and then pretend to have had their own boat capsize along the route they’re taking
and then the pirates aren’t heartless, so they do rescue them (and dia’s gang’s disguises are in like totally normal clothes, and the pirates don’t recognise any of them as associated with the royal family). they do keep their guard up of course, but sol was smart enough to stage their shipwreck in a place that he knows is far from land, so they’ve got plenty of time on board the boat to win the crew’s trust
and then in the process of doing this, the gang just ends up befriending them for real

Saw the first episode of ENT (again? I'm sure I watched... something? Years ago? I don't remember a Klingon at all?) and oh my *fans self*. I love them all. I love Trip. Phlox is my favourite doctor. Fucking. Space leeches? Genius. I fear for poor Hoshi, nobody knows how linguistics works. Archer is the worst captain. He almost died like 736 times and it was 100% his fault. Safety regulations are written in "our captain's an idiot(derogatory) and when he gets himself killed THE VULCANS WILL JUST TAKE COMMAND OF OUR SHIP AND EVERYBODY'S COOL WITH THAT?!
