I'm still high on cloud nine from last night, and I suspect I will never shut up about the event, or our boys/men/babygirls/babyboys/angels/what even are they?? I will never get over Fellow Travelers, Hawk, Tim, Matt, Jonathan or any of it, and I wouldn't have it any other way.

I didn't dare to dream we would see them like this again - happy to be together, both with arms around each other, Jonny even holding Matt's hand. Ahhhhhhhh!! They look so good together. None of the doubt and torture of the past months matters now, because they were home together. I'm more convinced than ever that their bond is rare, undeniable, eternal and unbreakable, and they will be like this even after outliving Hawk and Skippy.

As for their looks, Matt's look wasn't my favourite ever (although it was amazing), and poor baby looked extremely sleep-deprived. But he looked genuinely happy, and that's all that matters. Jonny looked slutty as fuck in that sage green shirt + trousers and brown shoes + white socks outfit. His beauty was dazzling, and this was one of my favourite Jonny looks ever.

This video is everything! It's easily as good as the Maestro premiere videos. Seeing them this content and comfortable... I'm actually at a loss for words. If you look really closely, you can see that Jonny is stroking Matt's back again. I don't care what people say anymore, he is NOT like this with others. And Matt is so much more open than he's appeared to be recently. It's rare to see this kind of public display of affection from him - like when he smiles, gazes at Jonny and puts his arm even tighter around him. He also has this particular micro expression he does when Jonny looks at him, I've seen it before.

I love how happy they look, and how Jonathan waits for a hug/touch from Matt, like he needs it.

I'm so grateful that we got the Ron/Matt/Jonathan only combo yesterday. Ron is the one person who loves and misses Matt & Jonny even more than the fans do. He loves them so much that he started to cry when he talked about their zoom chemistry read.

The panel was incredible. I'm in awe of the three of them, and I wish I could thank them personally. They spoke so eloquently and passionately, and I think they gave an extremely good impression. Jonathan's dirty joke was the icing on the cake.

Favourite moments from the panel:

Jonny saying he feels it in his stomach, when he talks about watching the emotional clip they showed during the panel. He says there's a real emotion that has not left him, that is still present. How they've had six months to get on with their lives and try to say goodbye to the characters, but so many people are talking to him about FT, even crying, and it feels amazing to be back and celebrate it. "I know what pride means now." Oh Jonny!!

Ron talking about the chemistry between Matt and Jonny (that I already mentioned above)

I love and adore Matt beyond measure, so I'm allowed to say this. He has a tendency to go into professional/autopilot mode sometimes, and he does just this when the interviewer (who was great btw!) asks him about the sex scenes. He starts repeating things he's already said in dozens of interviews. But then Jonny starts talking, with much more candour, and it's glorious. And you can see, at least in some angles of the video, that Matt starts to blink and swallow a lot. It's like Jonny unlocks him, like he always does...

Jonny's joke: "Obviously you'd want a scene partner like Matt, because he never put a foot wrong..." Nobody makes Matt laugh like Jonny does. I wish their chairs had been just a little closer, because Jonny really tried to put his head on Matt's shoulder.

Yeah. Yesterday will stay with me for a very long time.

I've been thinking about this a lot, and how to word this as gently as possible. Hopefully this doesn't piss anyone off.

I saw a post the other day about how autism is not always this cute quirky thing and there are autistic people who have addiction issues and anger problems stemming from the trauma of just being in the world as an autistic person. And I automatically thought of Nathan in the clip from AotD. Because he is widely classified as autistic in fandom, sort of how many fans classify Pickles as trans (no judgement btw, it's just very widely accepted fanon).

Yeah he was lashing out at his bandmates, and at the fans. He's always chased normalcy because his life has been anything but. I mean seriously, he watched his whole class get killed by a drunk driver, prophetic dreams since he was a kid (he dreamed of his own band but couldn't see any of their faces according to that one Revolver interview) that only got more intense, failing out of school because public schools are not designed for anyone who isn't "normal" - that's a lot to deal with.

Nathan looks at his parents as what a real, "normal" existence should be - fall in love, get married, have kids. He and the other guys, back in the beginning of the show when they were jaded rock gods who couldn't even shop for food at a grocery store on their own, always used to go off about how much they didn't want to be like regular people. But I think the first conversation Nathan had with Abigail made him realize he was getting older and running out of things to write songs about anyway and time was running out for him to get that normalcy he's always secretly craved.

Which is why he threw Pickles and the rest of his band effectively under the bus, especially after he and Abigail hooked up on the sub. He felt like he was so close and he didn't want to lose what he knew would probably be his last chance.

So now in AotD, Abigail dumps him and he's melting the fuck down. He knows he can't have a normal life. He knows he has to write the Song Of Salvation and save the world. He knows he and his band are gods. And he doesn't want any of it. No it's not right or fair that he lashes out at the guys, but he has so much anger and he has nowhere else to direct it at, which can happen to an allistic person as well but sometimes autistic people just can't contain it anymore when they've had enough. It doesn't mean he hates them. Everyone in Dethklok have all said they "hate" each other at some point, look at Skwisgaar and Toki. But the way they act around each other says otherwise. Hopefully he'll realize that "normal" isn't always right, but we won't know that for another week (one more week omg 🫣)

This is a response to an ask that Tumblr deleted while I was trying to post it. I did, however, get the chance to save my response. I do apologize to the anon, but it really was a fault of the website, I reached out to them to see if they could restore it, but they said it was impossible! DISCLAIMER: The anon who wrote the post did not accuse Jimin of anything btw, they're actually a Jikooker. I was getting to the last section of the ask where they went into some theories surrounding a few things!

Anyways... let's just read what I wrote.

Don't apologize for the ask length! Honestly, I'm fine with it, I tend to give extra long answers to many of the people who stop by anyway.

Honestly, before I address anything else, I'm going to respectfully disagree with the point that you brought up with the Set Me Free dance practice and the Agust D concert in Seoul. Of course, I know that you stated that you don't necessarily agree with this idea of stiffness either and that you think there's a deeper, underlying reason for it.. but, I would still like to talk about some of these incidents in reference to some other interactions among the members.

Does Jimin Make Jungkook Uncomfortable?

It's the million-dollar question that has everyone dying to know the answer.

Well. I do not subscribe to nor support the idea or theory that Jungkook is uncomfortable with Jimin in ANY capacity, because as it's been proved time and time again, whether it be in interviews, personal lives, FESTA segments, etc... Jungkook and Jimin have a pretty close bond built off of years of friendship and mutual trust. In the 지민 Choreography Practice Sketch, although Jungkook and Jimin don't do a lot of physical touching, the language speaks for itself. I don't know if you speak Korean or if you understand any of it, but the language that the two of them used was relaxed and comfortable. Jungkook was even making playful demands of Jimin, his hyung. If Jungkook was truly awkward or standoffish with Jimin, he would probably stick to using polite speech, establishing a type of spoken distance -- which wouldn't be odd, given that the two of them were in a public space. Also, we only saw bits and pieces of his visit, so I think it's unfair for us to come to a conclusion such as this based on bite-sized footage. I mean, the video was never meant to center on the people who visited Jimin, but rather on the time and effort he spent in perfecting the choreography for his first solo debut. So no, upon watching the Bangtan Bomb, there wasn't even a moment where I felt as if there was some sort of weird tension between them. I think a lot of these sentiments get lost in the subtitles.

Now for this next part, you wrote:

... a lot of this is just untrue. There have been so many times when Jimin has moved closer to Jungkook, has draped his arms around him, has gotten into his personal bubble -- and there's been absolutely no reaction. Zero. Zilch. Nada. A lot of the clips 'proving' the accusations against Jimin have been carefully crafted and cherry-picked among a sea of thousands of other instances where the contrary proves to be true: Jimin and Jungkook are comfortable with one another.

There have been several cases where Jimin has used Jungkook as a personal pillow (or vice versa), the two cozying up after dance practice or in between shoots to read a manga together. Jungkook shows no reluctance, no stiffness.

I can give you another example of this: in the Euphoria (DJ Swivel Forever Mix), if you go to 1:31 in the video, it's Jungkook laying comfortably on the floor, and at 1:37, tucked right underneath his arm is Jimin's head, slightly out of frame, the two boys enjoying some floor time while they aimlessly scroll on their phones. Jimin playfully nudges him after, earning a few giggles. It's a sweet moment. Also, a lot of the clips put into that video were filmed by Jimin.

... I don't know why I never noticed, but he has carrots on his phone case. I think... I think I need to lie down... that's so cute..

I think I would need to see more clips of instances where Jungkook looked 'uncomfortable' with Jimin putting his arms on him or touching him, because eight times out of ten, Jungkook is also the one initiating physical contact with Jimin -- just because he can. This is someone he has known for years, a close friend, a brother he can trust.

I mean, there's a clip where Hoseok goes to kiss Jungkook's neck, I believe it was the behind-the-scenes for the DNA MV or a Memories snippet, and Jungkook cranes away, trying to avoid it. Does that mean Jungkook is uncomfortable with Hoseok? Hell no. There's a Bon Voyage clip (?) where Jungkook accepts a cheek kiss from Hoseok before going to bed. Jungkook also gives Hoseok a kiss on the neck in Bon Voyage S2.

I guess it just depends on how he's feeling or where he is. A lot of the times that I've seen Jungkook pull his face away from Jimin has been in pretty public places, like sets, on-stage concerts, or shoots. When Jungkook pulled his head away from Hoseok, he was also on a set. And even when Jungkook pulled his face away, he still had allowed Jimin and Hoseok to get relatively close; if he was that uncomfortable he would have pushed them away or held his arms out. That's what people tend to do. Obviously, Jungkook doesn't hate Hoseok... so where do we go from here? Why do we always ride the Jimin hate train when many other members express the same sort of affection towards Jungkook, or hell, to each other?

You can even see his hand pushing against Hoseok's shoulder here. Why aren't these nasty antis screaming about this?

I mean, you rarely ever see this agenda of discomfort pushed toward any other member other than Jimin... and that's because these toxic shippers/solos don't actually care about any of the other members or their interactions with Jungkook. I was literally able to debunk the majority of the accusations made against Jimin in only a few examples.

Jungkook kissed Jin's leg during a shoot once and Jin wasn't a big fan... so are we supposed to call Jungkook a harasser? Taehyung also kissed Jin on the cheek without his consent during a RUN BTS episode, so obviously, Taehyung makes Jin uncomfortable.

... Now would you look at that, people never talk about this in the same way they talk about Jimin. Maybe because we all know that they don't make each other uncomfortable! All of this is bullshit!

We are not Jungkook, so how are we supposed to know how he's feeling? I think this is the real root of the problem; people see certain situations and insert themself into them, asking how they would feel if they were in their shoes. However, some of these innocent moments become victims of baseless projecting, where the accuser tends to have some sort of vendetta against one of the people in the picture.

I mean, a lot of Jimin's antis are toxic Taekookers; a lot of them don't like the idea of seeing Jimin with Jungkook because they think Jungkook belongs to Taehyung, so they start to interpret every little move that Jimin does toward Jungkook as targeted harassment. Who cares what Jikook has to say about their friendship. Who cares about the fact that Taehyung and Jimin are best friends. If Taehyung was dating Jungkook and felt like Jimin was harassing him, do you really think that Taehyung would continue to be friendly towards Jimin? Do you really think that he would willingly accept his hug at Yoongi's concert, especially if he had made Jungkook uncomfortable AT that concert?

(again, not accusing all Taekookers of being Jimin antis, that would be fucking ridiculous. I mean, some toxic Jikookers are anti-Taehyung, the trending page on Twitter a few days ago was proof of it.)

Anyways, let's take this hypothetical situation a step further: If Jimin was harassing Jungkook or making him uncomfortable, do you think that the other members would sit there and cosign his behavior? Do you think that they would let Jimin do whatever he wanted to Jungkook knowing just how bad Jungkook felt? Are all of BTS complicit bystanders in a fucked up chain of abuse? Does Jungkook have any real support system among them? Why did Jungkook willingly get the friendship tattoo (one of the largest in size, may I add) if he's not actually friends with any of them? What's the point of Jungkook being a member of BTS if everyone hates him?

See how this logic falls apart the moment you put a little bit of thought into it? And according to these toxic shippers, this harassment has been occurring since the beginning of their careers. Do you really think Jungkook would re-sign his contract? Do you think that any of the members would re-sign their contract knowing that Jimin is an abuser? No. Of fucking course not. When they re-signed their contracts in 2018, BTS reportedly had outside lawyers helping them through the process. They were able to make demands outside of the influence of their company.

For the Agust D concert, Jimin did a very similar maneuver that he had done before when Hoseok was enlisting, pulling Jungkook's face closer before wrapping him up into a hug. In the Bangtan Bomb, Jungkook and Jimin shared a few words laced with laughter, Jungkook accepting Jimin's gesture before joining him in the hug, hands wrapped around his back and upper arm. At the concert, Jimin pulled him in almost in the same way, Jungkook's eyes scrunching in a similar fashion, the only thing different is that the two didn't join for a hug as Jungkook backed away.

So, does this mean Jungkook hates Jimin? I mean, it's only June and Hoseok's enlistment happened in April... does that mean in the past two months, Jungkook has suddenly grown to dislike him?

See how none of this makes any fucking sense?

A lot of this is just framing and handpicking content to fit an agenda. You can watch harmless Taekook compilations that use clips from the same live that a Jikook compilation uses, the two shipping groups using different times in the live to prove the validity of their pairing when both possibilities equally coexist in the content. BTS has documented over ten years of their life online, there is going to be a lot of content that is overlooked and often forgotten. Not to mention, BTS probably has even more content locked up in a vault somewhere, dusting away, its contents never meant to see the sunlight.

People are once again only making assumptions based on what is published, but these are real people who have private lives behind the screen. How could you possibly justify knowing what's going on in someone's head, especially if you've never met them?

We didn't hear the conversations they had that day at that concert, we didn't get to see Jungkook's full reaction to Jimin's dance practice, we didn't get to participate in all of those lives, in all of those green room sessions. So how on EARTH do we know? How could we say with 100% confidence that we know what happens when the cameras are off or on? How can we justify telling other people that we assembled the whole picture of what happened when we've never even held a conversation with BTS themselves? Well, some have had the chance to talk to them through fan signs and phone calls... but my point still stands.

It's just projection. Pure projection.

Jimin and Jungkook are close. All of Bangtan are close. All of them are friends. All of them have a bond like siblings. I'm so tired of these nasty people attempting to create a rift between fans and the boys themselves. Also, I'm sorry to you anon that I really didn't touch on anything else in your ask... oops. I appreciated hearing your opinion despite the fact that I only really talked about the points toward the end. Feel free to stop by again if you have anything else to say.

I sent in the ask about Starstruck - not offended you removed the last part! BTW Seann Walsh's ex gf (the one who he cheated on with his Strictly partner, who then accused him of gaslighting and abusing her) is about to release a self-help book about leaving toxic relationships called "Why Did You Stay?" It's just interesting watching him do interviews where he paints himself as a victim of the media. His show Kiss tried to paint that narrative too. He wants people to feel sorry for him.

I didn't know that either and generally don't know a lot about that situation. I haven't seen much of Seann Walsh, just that he was a regular for a season on Argumental years ago, and makes occasional guest appearances on other shows. I sometimes have nights when I just spend ages clicking through YouTube videos of clips of stand-up routines by various comedians, and I've come across Seann's a few times, and never found him funny. Besides that, I know through some general osmosis that he had a Strictly curse scandal. But don't know details.

Having said that, I just watched the first episode of Backstage with Katherine Ryan, and did find him off putting in the way he talked about that. On the one hand I do think tabloids should leave people alone and I feel bad for people who've been hounded by them, but also, I find it annoying when people who did something shitty then go on TV to talk about how difficult it was for them to have people think they're shitty because of it. I recently saw an interview with Jimmy Carr about his tax scandal that annoyed me for the same reasons, in which he said that's when you learn who your real friends are during such difficult times and James Corden was the only person who cared enough to call and see how he was doing, and it was full of comments saying this is the one time when James Corden is the good guy in a story. Maybe your friends were just disappointed that you had knowingly as good as taken food out of the mouths of people who are much less lucky than you were, Jimmy. Maybe James Corden didn't care because he's a dick too.

Anyway. Bit off topic, but it reminded of me of that Jimmy Carr video when I watched that episode of Backstage with Katherine Ryan, where Seann Walsh was shown shown as a figure of sympathy because of the time everyone got mad at him for a bad thing he did. I do think tabloids should have left Seann Walsh alone if all he did was cheat on his wife, but I'm also a bit grossed out by him suggesting he's deserving of sympathy in that instance.

A lot of people are not great people. In a completely different context, I just happened across the information that Frank Skinner once married a teenage girl who was a student at a college where he taught when he was in his thirties, and now I have to find Frank Skinner gross, and I liked Frank Skinner. So I'm annoyed about that and that may have coloured how little sympathy I'm ready to feel for people who do gross things, and that may have affected how annoyed I sound in this post.

So... sorry that I took your message about one genuinely important issue, of a person who's gotten out of a bad situation writing a book about how often people stay in those situations, and replied by just being annoyed at shitty people on TV in general. People suck, but I hope the book is good and sells well.

BJYX Song #15: Summer’s Wind

Disclaimer: This is all a dream. Actually though, I’ve procrastinated this song so much that it started haunting me in my dream as an overdue assignment for school so I definitely need to write this to get it out of my system.

The song I wanted to write about today is “Summer’s Wind (夏天的风)” by Landy Wen in 2004. This song’s melody was written by Jay Chou, one of dd’s favorite artist. This song wasn’t super famous back then but now is often seen in tiktok in China because of covers. I’m not sure if it was as widely popular when gg quoted in 2018. Gg knows a lot of songs and often dig up sorta obscured (at least not super popular) songs that he likes. 

An extensive backstory about gg’s post on this song and his trip in Japan can be found in this amazing post written by @twolonesomestars. The most important kadian about this post is that it was the 521th Weibo post and 18th Weibo video (he had to delete some stuff to get here.) Also, something that wasn’t mentioned was that his post kadian at the time “12:43″ and 2:43 in the song corresponds to the line “I look at your cool smile, yet there are times when it’s shy.” I think this line perfectly describes dd and also gg has said that his first impression of dd is shy, instead of the cold aloof description other people usually give him. This kadian further strengthens that this song is about dd. We have also seen gg kadian the time of his post to the lyrics of songs before, as seen in “Nan Hai” and a song from the album “Kepler” (not that song though). 

I’m going to channel in gg’s circumstance after filming TU and Japan trip for this analysis.

Right off the bat, as with the title, there are a lot of motifs we’ve already seen before like “wind”, “cloud”, and the over theme of “summer.” To me, “wind” is something this is transient and can symbolize feelings that can come and go. This is probably something gg was struggling with, whether his feelings for dd or dd’s feelings for him is transient like “July’s wind”. The first stance also described the discomfort of summer’s heat, which we know they complained about when filming CQL. Metaphorically though, I think the heat and “stuffiness” represents stuffed-up emotions, and the “rain” that came washes away those feeling and brought some clarity, which may be what gg came to realized post-Japan.

氣溫 爬升到無法再忍受 (Temperature, has climbed to a point of unbearable)

索性閉上了雙眼 (I just closed my eyes)

讓想象任意改變 (Let imagination morph and change freely)

I think the “temperature” and “heat” described can be about the electrifying connection and feelings between two people. It’s almost like the sexual tension has climbed to a point of unbearable limit for them, but they don’t know what to do with it. With reality that is hitting them after filming, they can only imagine all the different scenarios and happy ending they can have. 

場景 兩個人一起散著步 (The scene is two people walking together)

我的臉也輕輕貼著你胸口 (My face softly rest against your chest)

聽到心跳 (I hear your heartbeat)

在乎我 和天氣一樣溫度 ([You] care about me, just like the weather’s temperature)

Doesn’t this entire part just sounds like a very vivid picture of the entire filming of TU, especially since the first line even said a “scene”? Two people walking together, one in white, one in black. While filming, gg often have to rest into dd’s arms. It’s all very pure and romantic. No wonder this song can remind gg of the summer in 2018.

夏天的風 我永遠記得 (Summer’s wind, I will always remember)

I think summer’s wind is something carries feelings for gg. He said he will always remember that summer and those feelings. After filming wrapped, I think he wasn’t sure how long this wind will carry. There was too much uncertainty at that moment. In the end of 2019, we know he sang a song about summer’s wind lasting throughout the year into other season so we received the answer that this wind, and thus love, will persist. But in end of summer in 2019, this certainty was not there. All gg can be sure of is that he will always remember that summer, those wind, those mountain, because it’s very precious to him. 

清清楚楚的說你愛我 (Clearly say you love me)

I can see dd being very honest about his feelings that summer. Dd is not the type to hide what he feels and he probably expressed to gg clearly how he felt. But I think gg needed some time to think so he went to Japan, also to shed the character of WWX and his love for LWJ. But I think this line is gg acknowledging that he knows of dd’s feelings and how candid, sincere, and unambiguous dd’s feelings are. It also juxtaposed gg’s possibly jumbled feelings. I don’t think it’s that gg love dd less or that he’s uncertain of his feelings. I personally think he was certain of his feelings on 6/22/18 when he posted “If I were a song”. But I think he has a lot of different emotions that is coming to him all at once and he need some time to sort them out one by one. I can relate to having overwhelming emotions and also thoughts due to too many concerns and I think gg is also the type to get in that state.

也有靦腆的時候 (There are also times when it’s shy)

This is the line that I think gg kadian to describe dd. “Cool smile” is a very good description of dd, and probably the way most people who don’t know him well will say that is their first impression of him. Dd seems aloof and is overall a cool guy but unapproachable. But gg was the only that said that dd was “shy” to him on first impression. He saw through dd right away, that dd is hiding behind a shell of ice because he’s scared. Dd is a very sensitive person and he’s afraid that others won’t like him or how others see him so he protect himself by acting cold. But like this line and also gg’d interview that he has said before, once dd opens up, he’s very warm and adorable, and that dd likes to laugh a lot. It’s such a precious relationship to have someone that truly understands you and see the best of you. 

夏天的風 正暖暖吹過 (Summer’s wind, is currently warmly blowing)

穿過頭髮 穿過耳朵 (Going through hair, going through ears)

The “summer’s wind”, which are the emotions from the summer is currently passing through the entirety of the body, so it’s enveloping all parts of gg and dd. “Hair” and “ears” also also parts of the body that ggdd like to touch each other often when filming, as we seen from the bts clips. If I remember correctly, gg’s ears are very sensitive and doesn’t really like other people touching them (I remember a clip of his X-Nine’s member either touching or blowing into his ears and he flinched away.) This line is probably the most straightforward part of the song. The “summer” that just ended in gg’s post in 2018, belongs to 2 people. This the message of “summer’s wind”. The wind is saying that this summer is love between 2 people, and these 2 people can only be ggdd. 

溫柔懶懶的海風 (Gentle and lazy ocean’s wind)

吹到高高的山峰 (Blow up high to the mountain’s peak)

溫的風 山的鋒 (The warmth of the wind, the peak of the mountain)

吹成了山風 (Has became mountain’s wind)

This part to me is signifying change in feelings. The “gentle” and “lazy” warm ocean’s wind is like the ambiguous, fun, but uncertain relationship they had in the summer. They’re in a warm and safe place for these feelings to be able to developed, since they were  pretty sheltered when filming. But once filming has ended, this warm “ocean’s wind” has converted into “mountain’s wind.” Mountain’s wind to me is much colder and harsher, and signifies the harshness of reality and the difficulties they will need to face going back to the real world. But it can also be that this warm, soft wind has now strengthened, that it can become sharper, and able to face the harsh climates of the mountains.

Gg went to Japan with his friends (I think friends from college. He did not go with wzc btw, I just found this out like 2 weeks ago lol.) But dd was not there. And I think part of gg’s reluctancy at this moment is that he wasn’t sure if dd will always be as certain of his love as they did that summer. I don’t think it has anything to do with dd’s age, character, or anything he said. Honestly for anyone that has ever been in love, especially when the relationship just started, there will be some insecurity and you worry if the other person will love you forever or if they will change their minds and abandon you. I think this is a feeling that we can all relate to. So right now, gg may feel like it’s just him and “mountain’s wind”, which is the converted version of his love form the summer, and he’s unsure if dd will come back for him but it seems to me like gg is waiting on the mountains if dd every come, just like how WWX waited at the end of TU on the mountain for LWJ to come get him.

Overall, I think this song “Summer’s Wind” represent an end of gg’s ambiguous feelings of flirtation in the summer of 2018 while filming TU. In this post, he said “Summer’s wind has ended.” But I don’t think this necessary means his feelings for dd has ended (Spoiler alert, it didn’t.) It’s just that that stage of their relationship has come to a close and they need to find a way to open up a new chapter of their life together.

winston is also unusually Earnest and Honest, especially considering the show he’s in, and like, this guy is Putting In Effort to communicate and also connect with the people around him, which is not many people so far b/c he’s mainly interacted with taylor (which is Not a problem lol) and had fleeting interactions with his other 3 Named Coworkers.......he’s a touch ~sensitive~ lol like very prone to kind of capitulating to others’ Feedback, really into Taylor’s Validation which, why wouldn’t you be, but it’s a lil like “haha oh no” considering his and taylor’s first encounter was him annoying the hell out of them and them slamdunking him so hard he just goes off and presumably Has Depression about it until they get back in touch with him months later. Winston And Taylor Dynamic is essential considering a) virtually all winston’s scenes have been with taylor and b) asia kate dillon is Amazing and so is wrol of course and c) Their Communication(tm).....we are obsessed. this is a whole other extremely long tangent about taylor and winston’s mutual respect and ability to Get each other and willingness/ability to communicate well, which means A Lot considering like, everyone else finds winston offputting and does Not communicate well with him, and many people find taylor (at least initially) offputting for different but not-that-different reasons, and taylor often has to struggle for very conditional and transactional “respect” from others (they do get Some genuine respect, thank fucking god) but after his first meeting for taylor involves them reading him for filth and giving him despresso, the next thing he does is show up both Saying and Showing he’s listened to them and he’s clearly trying to Work With Them and they Work With Him and god the essays all about this scully.....the Essays......the Winnie N Tay.............the [they should absolutely fuck] and the Tayston...........

but winston is So Good we love him and we have so many Thoughts and he is very relatable b/c like. wrol just Gives These Performances and goes above and beyond to make this seem like a fleshed out person before anybody even asked him to lol. or winston would have only ever been Quant Kid 2 in one scene in ep 3x03. and there are even other things we can derive enjoyment from, or we’d be way deeper in hell than we are already. such as: taylor mason, which is akd really honestly being so good an actor they’re carrying this show lol they very truly elevated this series by a lot singlehandedly. Their Performance/s......which is why it’s fucking brilliant that Wrolliam and Akd are scene partners virtually all the time. together they are just killing it, by which i mean, us. that’s why we’re here really, we went and discovered how amazing their scene/s together in ep 3x11 were and it was like hmm. i think i will never shut up about this for A Year And Counting

HAPPY SUGA DAY!

****I meant to get this post up on Yoongi's actual birthday but due to Tumblr completely deleting my first draft and having to deal with some crap at work, I haven't really been in my right mind to do so, so unfortunately I wasn't able to get it done in time. Even if it's a little late I hope you guys still enjoy this post!****

So I've been thinking all day what I can say about Min Yoongi that I haven't said already and sadly I'm drawing a blank.

 I think everyone knows by now how, underneath that hard and standoff-ish exterior, Yoongi is truly one of the sweetest, most caring members in BTS.

 He may be the designated "grandpa" but he can give Jin a run for his money as the "mom" of the group with the way he dotes on every single member in his own way. So instead of me doing a long winded post that loses it train of thought a million times I think I'll expand on how much Yoongi truly loves his brothers:

▪JIN

So when it comes to the relationship these two share, "opposites attract" is the best way I could describe it. While one is outgoing and loud, the other is more reserved and quiet. This duo loves to annoy each other and you can see that every time Jin cracks a face-palm inducing dad joke, and vice versa whenever Yoongi makes fun of Jin for his "old" age. I mean it's obvious to ARMY by now how extra Jin can be at times, but even through all the cringe-worthy moments and  second-hand embarrassment, at the end of the day, Yoongi still has great appreciation and respect for him.

▪JIMIN

Like Jin and Yoongi, Jimin and Yoongi are also quite opposites when it comes to their outlook on life. Where Jimin sees positivity, Yoongi is more about realism. It's not that he doesn't want to see the world as a happy place, but he also doesn't want to be blind to the truth either. That's why these two work so well together, one is the lifts the other up while the other protects them from harm.

▪TAEHYUNG

It's no secret that Tae marches to the beat of his own drum, but it is because of this fact that Yoongi finds him so endearing. During an episode of BV the two were partnered up to spend time together and even when everyone else said they would never agree on anything, Yoongi had the perfect solution. He cares a lot for Tae and he knows how hard the past few years have been for him after losing precious loved ones, so he's kind of been the one looking out for him behind the scenes.

▪JUNGKOOK

When it comes to emotional vulnerability, I would say Kookie and Yoongi are two peas in a pod. Neither one chooses to wear their hearts on their sleeves, but on the rare occassions when they do, you can guarantee you will find yourself crying along with them. There's a lot of pressure and uncertainty that goes alongside being the maknae of the group, and even more so when you're the golden maknae, and that's why I think Yoongi has taken it upon himself to help shoulder those burdens by taking care of him. Whether it's sticking up for him, encouraging him, or simply offering to buy him a proper meal, Yoongi has always been a great hyung to Kookie. And who could forget the iconic moment of "Friendship is Irish Bomb"? Haha

▪HOSEOK

Ok, so there's a lot with this relationship. We have day meets night, dark meets light, and cynicism meets positivity. These two contrast so much but still connect on the same level in countless other ways. Both are 2/3 that form one of the best raplines I've ever seen. Both are very passionate about what they do (J-Hope: dance, Yoongi: music) and they have worked their butts off to reached the point they're at now. Because Yoongi is such a realist, he is constantly overwhelmed with the state of the world, and he desperately needs to see the happier side that he might be missing...that's where Hobi comes in. There's a reason he was given the nickname he was given, he provides everyone around him with hope and happiness when they need it most, and that especially applies to Yoongi.

 When you constantly find yourself in the limelight it can be hard not to lose yourself within it. You might even forget your sense of self and instead be reduced to nothing more than a preconception told from a cameras perspective; that's when friends are the best cure, and Hobi just so happens to be that friend. These two are important for one another because whenever they're together it seems to be nothing but laughs and genuine smiles. They are carefree and able to be themselves around each other. To have that sense of freedom is probably a rare occasion for BTS in general, but even more so for the one who's know to be the "cold-hearted" and I'm happy he can find it with Hobi.

▪NAMJOON

Finally we have these two: Namjoon and Yoongi.

I've decided to save this one for last because to me they have a bond that completely differs from all others previously mentioned. These two have known each other the longest, have lived together the longest, and have seen each other at their worst points. Before debuting these two would fight constantly, both due to genuine disagreements, and also because of the countless hardships and pressure they had thrown at them. They have grown with each other and have been there to strengthen each other every step of the way.

Yoongi might not be one to express his feelings so openly, but every time I see the clip of him crying with Joon after receiving their first MAMA award It's obvious how much he does care and how much this all means to him.

To be honest, Yoongi never fails to show his love and support whenever his brothers are feeling down, and that especially goes for Joon. With him being the leader of BTS there is so much added pressure and expectations to live up to that it can be overwhelming, and on top of all of it, being the designated translator, writing and producing most of BTS' songs, and also trying to learn the choreography to go along with said song can seem next to impossible; Yoongi sees these struggles and he does all he can to help lessen the weight.

These two honestly do share one of the most profound bonds and I believe nothing could severe it completely. They might still have their fights, I mean they're human, it's bound to happen, but the respect and admiration they have for one another wins out every time.

As much as they love each other, these two also love to screw with each other too. Yoongi constantly makes fun of Joon for his clumsiness and Joon makes fun of Yoongi for his laziness, but in the end these two wouldn't be who they are without the other.

Yoongi once said in an interview that Joon is one of his favorite people he's ever met and if he had to pick a person to spend his last day with he would pick him. Then Joon in a different interview mentioned how Yoongi is basically his mirror and he takes care of the thing that Joon is unable to. These two compliment each other so well, and musically speaking, their backgrounds come from very similar places that they just know how the other runs. If Hobi allows Yoongi to act himself and to let loose physically, then Joon is his emotional release. They know how to have those deep heart-to-heart conversation without worrying what the other might think. Yoongi is able to use his words and is able to open up to Joon about any doubts, fear, or anxiety he might be struggling with, as well as using them to provide Joon with the assurance he needs that he is doing a good job as the leader; and in return, Joon gives Yoongi that sense of comfort and stability whenever he needs it.

These boys are one in the same: two overall geniuses who started as underground rappers possessing skills of insane flow and destructive lyrics, then forced to become idols, who eventually helped redefined what idols are, and now are global superstars that have created the golden rapline (with Hobi), are living their wildest dreams yet still remain humble, as well as unapologetic about incorporation crucial social topics into their songs.

There's a reason these two get along so well and that's because of years of being around each other, having the same deep, philosophical thought process, and knowing that hard work, sleepless nights, and finding growth within personal struggles are what it takes to reach your ultimate goal.

The point is, if you're still with me that is haha, is that Suga tends to have this reputation that he is cold-hearted and aloof when it comes to the rest of the members, but honestly who wouldn't be exhausted and not wanting to participate in different events after having not slept for days on end and pouring their blood, sweat, tears (not intentional btw) into their creations?! Suga is one of the hardest working, passionate, individuals out there and if he didn't sacrifice so much for us, far beyond what this post can tell you, then BTS would not exist the way we know it now. It because he is willing to put his own health and well-being on hold --despite ARMY and the boys wishes-- and take on this almost altruistic behavior that I have so much respect and admiration for Yoongi. And anyone who says that this man is cold or that he hates his members...Have you not seen this man's precious, gummy smile when he's having the time of his life with his favorite people? There's a reason he chose to call himself "Suga" and that's because underneath that hard outer shell, deep down Min Yoongi is nothing but pure sweetness who isn't afraid to dream big and wants to see those he loves succeed to their fullest potential.

He is our resident grandpa, a musical genuis, and can spit fire while roasting people with the highest level of savageness you can achieve. He is the 2nd oldest, the hyung who tends to show his love when the cameras aren't rolling, and he is the backbone of BTS who slaves away in the recording studio to produce these insane tracks we all love so much. He is the only one that I've noticed who mirrors and compliments Namjoon's own thoughts and feelings and he is a huge reason why BTS has been so successful like they are.

This chick is Sam, short for Samantha. So why not just call her Samantha? Especially given the tone of their conversation, we don’t typically revert to nicknames when we’re pissed, we typically dial it up to full first names (and for parents, to full first-and-middle). Nope, gotta be "Sam". And he said it three times. Three times in a conversation that maybe lasted a minute, to make sure we got it.

Doesn't matter, I don't know why I'm even going down this road, I don't trust this writer's room in the least to have a carefully crafted plan that they've shared with Jensen. Well, it's beyond trust - Jensen all but said it in that interview (go find it yourselves, I'm sleepy, and this sammich ain't gonna eat itself, but I love you)

I really want Samantha's hair, and now her flannel shirt. I like her and her personality about a million times more than Maggie, why couldn't she be Maggie? OH SHIT.  Samantha - I forgot to introduce you to two more members of the name game club, here's Magda and Maggie. [Post-show pseudo-addendum thanks to astute Nashooligan] We would also like to introduce you to Amelia and Amelia and also the Name Game Sorority’s den mother, Millie, who we aren’t quite sure should be included but are hedging our bets. Could be Millicent or Melissa, sure, but why not complete an Amelia trifecta? ---> I’m about to digress with a side note that has nothing to do with this ep, I just want to further cement how much you should trust my judgment: in my big story, this name shit infuriates me so much, it was a factor I considered when constructing Millie’s background. I made Millie come from a slightly posh background on her British mother’s side, and a military family life courtesy of her high-ranking American father. I searched for names that the nickname “Millie” could evolve from that I thought would sound appropriate with this somewhat upper-crust lifestyle, so I made her real name be Emeline (Em-ah-lynn for me, though I’ve heard the last part with a long “i”, too) which is a sweet and classy oldie-goldie jam I wish would come back. It’s Brit-y for her mom, allows for her dad to be the only one who calls her Millie til Henry comes along. Her brothers call her “Em”, which annoys her mom. My psychiatrist’s front office girl has this name (except double-M) but insists on going by “Em”. Not “Emma”, not “Emme”. Em. (As in Auntie Em, I just had a fever dream about little people who give out candy, and grown men dressed in costumes who like skipping down roads with young girls, and trees that throw apples, and flying monkeys, which are cool, but still.) I have found her to be idiotic in several respects over the years, and this decision was not a point in her favor. There, I’m done.

I reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally wish for a moment there, not even five seconds, when ol' boy was standing above him, we saw some Mikey flash across Dean's face with a touch - and I mean a *touch*, CG department, don't blow your whole wad per usual - of blue. That nobody sees, only the audience and the monster, have monster kinda pause, maybe look confused and hit his little button but this time it comes out with the tiniest lilt of a questioning upspeak on the last syllable, and nothing ultimately happens since Sam arrives, Dean shakes his drowsiness off, then proceed to choke hold, etc. It would fall in line with whatever route they're going (Mikey actively impersonating Dean/Mikey residuals left in Dean/Mikey passively hiding out in Dean), also be a nice audience tease.

I didn't think I needed to specify that I wanted mushrooms on this cheesesteak hoagie. On god, the world is completely falling apart.

That whole car convo was.... weird. The party memory story went on too long and was stupid as shit, sure, but the costume discussion is what I mean. And then the one it ended on was especially weird. Why not just end with a shot of the Impala and their conversation continuing with their voices fading away with the engine? End on a better duo than Thelma and Louise who, Perez, killed themselves by driving their car into a canyon. Hell, end on Scooby. For the sake of their mental and physical health.Also, I know I’ve lowkey derailed your blog with Astrology and Michael Jackson stuff, but I appreciate you both being so cool about it and posting that stuff anyways! 💕"OH MAN, this is a topic I've done deep, deep research on in the past. I literally went through a five year period, where I did nothing but research Michael's case in my free time; I scoured the entire internet for information, I read books, I watched the ENTIRE trial online from start to finish. I've seen probably every interview of his, and I definitely know the one you're talking about, in which he called Tommy Mottola "the Devil." He's Mariah Carey's ex-husband, and even SHE said he's the devil. So I'd believe it. I firmly believe that Sony had something to do with Michael's death. I'll never be convinced otherwise. As successful as he was, he was simply worth more dead than alive. Michael was so immensely and increasingly paranoid in the months leading up to his death. He was terrified he was going to be killed, to the point to where he was afraid to eat or drink anything, for fear someone was poisoning it. There was this belief that Michael was this frail, sickly person. But in reality, it was an image he'd created for himself. He loved putting on a show and manipulating public perceptions of him. But he was AS healthy as could be for someone his age. He kept a really sound, healthy diet (I believe he was either vegetarian or vegan, and ate only organic foods). But despite his good health, he definitely had a dependency issue with pain killers. The medicine he was being administered in his final days, was an anesthetic medicine called Propofol. So it was used to induce sleep in patients who were going to undergo surgery. So it was a HEFTY medicine that was being misused. Conrad Murray was hired by AEG Live (who was hired to promote his tour), who didn't vet Murray's credibility, otherwise they would have known he was a farce. So either 1) Sony and AEG were just so careless and incompetent as to hire a fraud or 2) They did it intentionally, knowing they could set Murray up to be the fall guy. Which is what Paris and Janet Jackson and believe. It's definitely what I believe for sure. Last year, Paris told interviewers that she was concerned for Justin Bieber's health and safety, considering AEG Live managed Justin's tours. She warned him to be safe, because she thought he could potentially be killed or overworked to the point of exhaustion. I don't think the boys work with Sony, but I know Modest has some loose ties to Sony, and that's what I worry about. Because I know those dirty tricks and bad business tactics can't possibly just stop at Sony. Because Sony has SO MANY different branches to it, it owns literally the majority of labels and marketing distribution companies. I'm sure corruption breeds really deeply because of that. It's terrifying to think about. ANYWAY, this is long as fuck now, sorry about that!! I'm so versatile when it comes to topics, especially "conspiracy" related topics, so if you get me going I literally Never Shut Up. Don't worry about derailing the blog btw! I just wanted to say I love your trailers! They’re really cool! ❤️ I was wondering where you find all the clips you use do you just find they on YouTube?

First off, thank you! It really means the world to see people liking it! 

Now, down to the nitty gritty. There are a few different ways I find the clips, but all of them start off with deciding the FC.

Sometimes that’s decided by a fandom favorite (like Liam’s for my TRR trailer), sometimes because I know an actor that’d be perfect for it (like Justin Chon as Aiden), or the most difficult version of all: by one gifset I saw laying around and that would fit the trailer amazingly (like both Drake’s and Ava’s).

After that, I literally google the actor’s name and check out all of their work (from TV shows to movies and even photoshoots).

For this screenshot I’m using Daniel Di Tomasso (aka Drake) because this asshole gave me a TON of work:

Ignore the fact that my Google is in Portuguese, but basically on the right corner is where it lists all the actor’s previous and ongoing works. In Daniel’s case, I found the perfect scene in a gifset for my trailer, and for that I actually had to figure out which of his body of work had it. So, I looked in every one of them to see if I could find the outfit he was wearing. Fun fact: it was on one single episode of Witches of East End.

Okay, origin figured out, now’s time to find it. Usually when it comes to TV shows I try searching on YouTube for a clip from the show (most of them have it, like in Ava’s case that I actually found the exact scene I wanted, and sometimes I’m even luckier and find a compilation of scenes in 1080p from said show, like with Quinn’s and Maria’s case). But sometimes I’m incredibly unlucky and I don’t find anything, just bits and pieces from scenes that make no sense with the story of the book. Which was Daniel’s case.

When that happens I like to google a summary of every single episode from the series to try and figure out which of them could contain said scene. Sometimes it’s crystal clear (as in “so and so argue over something”) and sometimes there’s TOO MANY SIMILAR SCENES in the span of like 4-5 episodes. I honestly hate when that happens.

Sooo, it becomes my last resource to download the entire season (usually it’s easy to identify which season it is thanks to hair and makeup) and watch it just to find “I can’t watch you with him, hurts too much” (I literally did all this for just this quote). But there’s a plus to all my misery: I usually find a second FC that interacts with the actor I was looking for (both of the MCs’ faceclaims were found like that in both my TRR and Endless Summer trailers).

And that’s the hardest way with TV shows. There are also what I like to call “filler clips” that make the story of the trailer cohesive and tie the characters to the actual book. Sometimes it’s a video clip that I’d be using with no audio, sometimes it’s just the audio that fits perfectly with the narrative. In HSS’ case it was super easy, because Glee was my salvation. They had football, they had cheerleading and they had a band. So most of the filler clips were from the show I knew with the back of my hand. With the exception of the car and prom scenes, that I also remembered from the Paper Towns movie and knew exactly what to search to find it without downloading the entire thing.

When it comes to hard “filler clips”, the one I had the most difficulty was with Endless Summer. I had to change the color of a fox to create Furball, find clips of an island, of completely different environments and of volcanoes going nuts. I spent 4 of 7 days of research just looking those up. Second place goes to ILITW, not because it was difficult to find spirit and haunted related things, but because I HAD to look them up (and I’m fucking terrified of that shit).

Now going to movies, the biggest pain in my butt was Jake. First off, Jake has TONS AND TONS of fandom favorite FCs, so I had to decide which of them would give me more content. It so happened to be Michiel Huisman (sorry Ben Barnes stans).

Unlike Daniel, with Michiel I found this one single screenshot of him looking something up and was like “this is the movie I gotta find to make Jake real”. And so I looked it up and found 2:22, a sci-fi action movie with none other than Teresa Palmer, a plane that crashes and TONS of action. I had my plate full with it. I could’ve downloaded just the trailer for the movie, but to be honest I saw the scenes and went “I’m going to use everything I can from this” so I downloaded the movie and watched it whole before I started tearing it to pieces. Btw go watch the movie, it’s pretty damn good. I did the same with Liam’s FC.

And then there’s the impossibles: the FCs that have no good clip from an actual movie but tons of interviews and photoshoots recorded in 1080p and that fit their character. It was the case with Maxwell as Xavier Serrano, Olivia as Sophie Turner and Hana as Liu Yifei.

With Xavier the “main problem” was the fact that he is a model. He had no acting background and I had to find “vlog”-type interviews to put him in. At least he had tons of those to spare.

The problem with Sophie was pretty in your face: her only acting jobs were in movies that had nothing to do with Olivia or in Game of Thrones, that was too fictional and didn’t match the tone of Cordonia. Thank the gods for Vogue and their interviews though. She had the perfect one liners Olivia would have and was also dressed for the part.

Now with Hana, I know she isn’t a light-skinned Asian. I had Jamie Chung and tons of other actresses (I think there were 6?) open and none of them had clips that fit Hana. They were either too “aggressive”, too fictional (like Sophie) or with the worst quality ever. And making video edits is a lot different to gifs and icons (unfortunately). I was considering not even including Hana when I came upon this interview  of Liu and I couldn’t imagine another person playing Hana. She had the looks, the outfits, the setting, even the lines that fit her. And note: I didn’t use one single movie that had her, they were all interviews and photoshoots. She fit the bill perfectly.

And that’s pretty much it. It’s the worst and most time consuming part of the trailer making process, but in the end I discover some pretty awesome movies and TV shows (seriously go watch 2:22 and Witches of East End). And that’s also why I always ask people to help out and send their favorite FCs for the trailer. Most of the time I end up using them.

The one day you had off you were being called into work. Because what else would happen. You had received the call at 2:45, your boss told you that your co worker Kelsey, had called in sick today. On one of the biggest days of the year for the company you work for. The VMAs. Yes you worked for MTV, and it was great. You were one of the stage managers and photographers whenever the crew was short on photographers. Regardless, you had wanted to spend your night curled up on the couch with a cup of tea, a book and John Mayer playing quietly from your phone. But you unwillingly pulled on your black MTV staff shirt, black leggings, black lowtop Velcro vans and got into your car. All black was standard uniform for a stage crew member. The focus should be on the celebrities not the people behind the scenes. 

By 3:30 you were in your car dealing with LA traffic attempting to get to the location in Inglewood. By 4:00 you were on sight of the award show, and the pre-shows wouldn’t start for another 3 hours. You quickly found your boss through the haze of busy coworkers. 

“Hello dear, thank you so much for coming in today. I know it’s your day off but that stupid head lady Kelsey decided to call in sick today and you’re the  only one who could cover her job. So let’s get started we have no time to lose. See those baskets down the hall. Yes okay, you need to deliver them to the dressing room of each corresponding performer. Their name and room number will be on the card.” your boss, Spencer, explained to you quickly. 

“you brought me here to hand out baskets? Kelsey couldn’t do that, hell bring her in sick or not. It’s a few baskets. MY one night off is going to be wasted because Kelsey couldn’t come in and hand out a few baskets.”

“oh shut your trap sweetheart,(btw this guy is gay, so he’s not like some predator calling her sweetheart for some creepy ass reason lol)  it’s just a few baskets an then I need you to help conduct cameras and take photos at the show tonight. NOW SHOO” he finished, lightly shoving you in the direction of the hall. You walked down the hall muttering to yourself til you reached the basket table. You picked up the first four, balancing two on each arm and walked to your first destination of Khalid’s room. After leaving baskets in the empty rooms of many artists including Ed Sheeran, Kendrick Lamar, Cardi B, Fifth Harmony, Julia MIchaels, Alessia Cara and many more. You went on to give your last basket to Shawn Mendes, a Canadian popstar you had heard about on the radio. Stupidly, you didn’t knock and walked right in. But unlike the last 20 rooms this room happened to be occupied. Occupied by a half naked, Shawn Mendes. Clad in only his boxers and socks. You immediately shrieked upon entering and quickly backed out of the room, shutting the door behind you. You faintly heard Shawn’s voice from behind the door.

“It’s uh fine you can come on in again” he said to you from the other side of the wooden boundary. You slowly turned the doorknob and your eyes fell upon a still half naked Canadian popstar. 

“uh Hi, Mr. Mendes, I am so sorry I didn’t knock. I thought your room would be empty. But here is a gift basket from MTV personally. Have a great time at the award show.” you word vomited quickly.

“It’s fine” he said taking the basket from you “you can call me Shawn and please thank MTV on my behalf for this fantastic gift basket.”  he finished, turning away from you to set the basket on the vanity behind him. Back muscles shifting. You chuckled quietly at his last comment. You had obviously knew who Shawn Mendes was. You had seen his videos and heard his music but you wouldn’t call yourself a fan. It’s not that you didn’t like him you just never took the time to thoroughly check him out. At the current moment you were beginning to retract and make new opinions of the boy standing before you. You slowly began to realize you had spaced out and began to snap back to reality (oh there goes gravity lol sorry) but before you physically showed you were paying attention to what was happening. You couldn’t help but notice that Shawn had been staring back at you, studying and scouring your features.

“Um I’ll make sure to tell MTV that, once again I’m truly sorry for walking in on you. Have a fantastic time tonight.” you said quickly rushing back to the door.

“yeah thanks you as well.” Shawn replied lazily watching you leave. You grabbed the knob and pulled the door closed behind you. As soon as you heard the door fully shut, you exhaled and speed walked down the hall and back into the red carpet area. 

She’s adorable, you couldn’t have been happier that she walked in on you getting dressed. But that line, who the fuck is MTV. It’s a company not a person, Jesus Christ. You were overthinking everything now. She’s perfect but you doubt you’ll ever see her again. Which sucks.

Bright lights flashed as you adjusted the headset connected to one of your coworkers who was feeding you instructions about what interviews you needed to film, what cameras, what angle or what celebrity was going to be interviewed next. The pre-shows had commenced 25 minutes ago and you already felt like you’ve lost your head among the sea of stars. 

“Shawn Mendes is up next on camera 3″ said the little voice in your ear and your stomach explodes in a mass of butterflies. You hated it. Yet you still returned Shawn’s grin as you handed him his mic. 

“Fully dressed now huh?” you coyly whispered to him.

“Yeah I hope so” he replied sarcastically, his cheeks heating up. You lightly pushed him up the few steps and onto the interview platform. Every so often he would glance your way and grin slightly. You just continued to do your job, trying to keep your gaze away from his. He was a star and you were an asteroid. He burnt brightly, shining for all to see. You were dull and boring. You had no purpose but to drift through life quietly going unnoticed for the rest of time. It was the sad truth but then again not many truths are very happy.

It was finally time for the award show to start. You were walking around the venue taking pictures of the stage, the fans and obviously the celebrities. You had the camera hanging around your neck and were listening to the headset in you ear giving you the countdown til the show started. At the 5 minute mark you made your way over to the cameras being set up and tested. Finally the lights began to dim and those standing on the main floor began to scream and shout. Every time you and the camera man walked past Shawn during the show he would lick his lips or clench his jaw or curl his fist that was casually resting on his thick thigh. It made you blush every time so thank god for the darkness.

She was the epitome of absolute perfection, every damn time she walked past him as she trailed behind the camera man. He would feel his mind and heart explode into thousands of pieces. He almost lost his mind when she crouched down several feet in front of him. Her ass, Jesus fucking Christ, her ass made him wanna cry. She was a goddess but he knew he could never have her. She couldn’t love him if he was always on the road or recording or practicing. He was physically unlovable and nothing could change. But he would never see her again after tonight so what’s the point.

The show had whirled by and before he knew it, Shawn was standing backstage waiting for someone to hook him up to the sound system and a mic. By the luck of the gods, she came walking through the green room door. Her hands piled high with equipment to help Shawn and his band perform. She looked busy and tired, he wanted to be able to comfort her. He just barely met her and has probably spoken to her twice but he couldn’t help himself. She carefully dropped the equipment on the table across from Shawn and sighed.

“It’s been a busy day huh?” Shawn asked trying to break the ice.

“You have no idea.” she replied, picking up an in-ear monitor and walking over to him. When she reached him she began to untangle the wires of the monitor. Once the monitor was successfully untangled, she looked down at his crotch and then up to his face.

“May I?” She asked him. Shawn looked at her a bit puzzled and taken back. “Oh my god, I’m not trying to get in your pants or something. I just need to clip the monitor’s power box onto your waistband. Jesus, for such an innocent looking guy you have one hell of a dirty mind.”she said quickly. She crouched down onto her knees so she was level with his waistband. She pulled the waistband away from his hips and handed the monitors control box to him.

“Just clip it to your waistband so that it’s inside your pants and the little light is facing your skin..or...torso I guess.” she said, leaning to the side you grab the wire on the table behind him. Her chest was pressed against his upper thighs and he almost yelped at the contact. She took the wire and plugged it into the monitor box clipped on his pants. Needless to say Shawn would have loved to have her on her knees in front of him, under other less clothed circumstances. She took the other end of the wire and put it up the bottom of his shirt, so that the wire was brushing gently against his abdomen. Her cold hands made him shiver but the new sensation felt oddly relaxing. She made him nervous, she relaxed him and she even excited him with her glowing presence. Shawn hadn’t noticed what was happening until he felt the wire tickling his jawline(so sharp it could cut a bitch). She then stood up and pulled his waistband away from his hip, putting her hand on the monitor’s switch and turning it on. Shawn couldn’t help but what the way she moved with her fluid motions, he knew it was creepy and they had just met but he couldn’t help but look at her. Shawn was once again caught off guard when she cupped the side of his face and put the ear piece correctly in his ear. Their faces couldn’t be more than a few inches apart, a gap that could be easily closed. Her minty breath fanned his face, their gaze connected and Shawn almost exploded. But then it was over, and as soon as she came in. She was gone. He realized he would probably never see her face again. Little did he know that she would be working the next MTV unplugged show.(part two?)

Okay so I realize I’ve been gone for too many weeks and that school is bullshit. BUUUUUUUUUUUUUUTTTT I’m back and this is my apology and I love every single one of you beautiful people that are crazy enough to follow me and publicly say you enjoying my writings. #33: Season 1, Episode 11 - “Secrets and Spies”

To destress from her busy schedule, Ren takes up a secret gig performing ABBA karaoke at local Japanese restaurant. She’s super sneaky about it and Louis is determined to figure out what she's up to.

The opening shot of this episode is Ren in her room rearranging her ridiculous schedule, showing us that she’s absolutely swamped. Eileen comes waltzing in and oddly knocks after the door is already open. I just randomly noticed that. Like, give the girl some privacy. She’s all excited to tell Ren that Councilman Mackenzie (whoever that is) is looking for a new intern and that he’s expecting her call. Ren CLEARLY does not want to do this and even tells Eileen that her schedule is too busy. One look at her calendar cork board would make anybody be like “Guuuurl, you’re only giving yourself an hour and a half each week for relaxation time?! You’re 14!” Instead, Eileen looks at her schedule and says “No, honey. Look! You have Tuesday, 4:30 to 6 available!!” Seriously, Eileen? 

Ren is spending Wednesday at 5pm reading to the blind. Give her a break. 

As soon as Eileen leaves, Ren walks into her closet and screams at the top of her lungs. Except, it’s obviously a stock audio clip of a horror scream. Louis overhears and it’s the first clue to the budding mystery. 

At dinner, Ren is curiously missing. We see that the Stevens are doing some “International Delicacy du Jour” where each family member chooses a meal from a different country to eat or something. I don’t know. Steve cooked a traditional Vietnamese meal, and I swear, the way he pronounces the dishes would never fly today. He’s like, “You already have your pho-taaaaaaiiiiii!” in the most mock Asian sounding accent ever, oh my god. He goes on to say “bon appetit” in Vietnamese, which also sounds terrible. He also cooked sticky rice and there’s a gag where the rice is, well... too sticky. None of them can get it off of their utensils. Ren comes running in late and clearly lies about meeting with the councilman. When asked, she tells them that she got the internship. That is, until Louis notices a yellow feather tucked into Ren’s shirt and makes a scene about it. She immediately deflects from that and brings up some ceramic cat that Louis broke to change the subject. Huummm...

Later that night while walking through the hall, Louis happens to overhear Ren talking on the phone in Japanese. He goes barging in “Hey, Stoolie! Why ya speakin’ in Japanese?” which is honestly so funny. It’s the way Shia says it, omg. He’s officially convinced that Ren is hiding something at this point. He has a meeting with Twitty to try and break down the evidence so far and we get a pretty memorable bit. Twitty’s reasoning is simply “Well, she’s a girl and girls do weird things. HEY! That’s a great song title. *proceeds to sing/play ‘girls do weird things’ on guitar*) This is a great scene so I’m just gonna embed it. There is one issue I’ll mention: there’s an awful overdub here. Listen to when Louis says “little miss perfect.” The audio was so obviously recorded at a different time, his lips don’t match, and he didn’t even bother to speak with an appropriate inflection so it would sound better in context. It makes me wonder what line they had him say originally... 

“Get out... Get out of my house” was always one of my favorite lines lol. 

We move on to the tiniest, most insignificant subplot EVER. Donnie is struggling with Trigonometry, (a subject I literally never studied in high school... is that bad?), so he gets an online tutor named Russell. The guy is a total nerd apparently and wants Donnie to help him out with the ladies. They meet up in person, and the tutor ends up being a little kid. That’s literally it. The plot never goes anywhere else. That’s it. There is a good line here, though. Russell is all “Let’s go meet girls!” and Donnie’s like “Look, kid. The only place I’m taking you is to a moon bounce.” I love this.

The next day at school, some random chick tells Louis to thank Ren for referring her to the Councilman and that she got the internship... not Ren. The plot thickens. We get a montage of Louis spying on Ren all day, even hiding in a darn mailbox, until he follows her all the way to Tokyo Rick’s -- a super random Japanese restaurant. Louis is beyond confused, that is.. until a man comes on stage and says “Up next on the mic, we have the vocal stylings of... Isis.” And we get the big reveal: Ren in a 70s style wig singing “Dancing Queen” by ABBA. 

Can we talk about that fact that Ren’s stage name is freaking ISIS though?! Isis?! Really, Disney? This is honestly Illuminati territory for me. Although, Isis is also an Egyptian goddess, which is probably where they got the name from. But, still. It’s a little disturbing in hindsight to think that Ren’s alias went on to be the name of a terrorist organization. Yikes. Christy is a fine singer, but this is unfortunately not her finest performance. To be fair, she was like.. 15 or 16 here. I definitely look back at my own performances at that age sometimes and.... yeah. Not the greatest. This is another memorable scene though and deserves to be uploaded to YouTube, so... I uploaded it: 

Now that Louis knows her secret, he decides to torture her with his knowledge of the situation. We get another montage of him sneakily posting Tokyo Rick’s karaoke fliers all over school, and Ren subsequently removing them. He also drops yellow feathers on her, and even sends a message for Ren to report to room 109, where he has the school band playing “Dancing Queen” (terribly.) I love this part. This is another thing that counts as music humor for me, which y’all know I’m a giant sucker for. The band is just so bad. It sounds as if every band member is on life support and being forced to perform on the verge of their last breath. They literally sound like they’re dying. Just think of the 20th Century Fox sax, trumpet, and recorder fails for an idea of what it sounds like... and times that by 10. Louis is conducting them and shouts “Javier!! That’s your cue!” which is absolutely hilarious to me. Sometimes, it’s the smallest details of this show that kill me the most. Ren walks in and Louis casually says “Isis!” When Ren asks “What did you call me?!” he responds with “I said ‘Hi, sis!’” Perfect. 

Ren pushes Louis out of the room and into the hallway to scream at him and it quickly turns from a scene I absolutely love to a scene that crushes my soul. Ren gets so fed up and screams “Do you think you’re funny?! I don’t. Nobody does! In fact, we all feel sorry for you because we’re out living busy, productive lives and you have... ugh, I don’t know... NOTHING! So just BACK OFF, Nothing Boy!” - The “nothing boy” remark was always a little cringy to me. Not the greatest insult, but it’s just so sad. She kinda hit Louis everywhere it hurts the most. He’s always struggled with feeling like he has nothing special or unique about him in comparison to everyone else. The one thing he does have is comedy, and she says he sucks at that too. Dang. He just stands there and sadly takes the beating. I’m upset. 

Louis takes ~the gloves are coming off~ approach and suggests that the family should go to Tokyo Rick’s as his pick for the International Delicacy thing to reveal Ren’s secret to their parents. But later on, Ren genuinely apologizes to Louis. She admits to being a little jealous that she can’t seem to relax and have fun the way he does -- so she decided to sing karaoke as a way to let off steam. It’s actually really sweet. I love whenever we get nice sibling moments between them. 

I will say, there’s a funny bit where some random kid is using the water fountain near them -- he’s sort of eavesdropping so Louis BARKS at him to make him go away. Oh my god. It’s one of those out of left field moments that help make this show great. I wonder if this was an ad-lib...? If it was, I love Shia even more and I didn’t think that was possible. 

Is it just me or does the kid look EXACTLY like Coach Tugnut? I’ma bout to ask Jim Wise on Twitter if he’s related to him...

EDIT EDIT: I was not right. Turns out Jim was pulling my leg??? haha. We cleared this up in our interview with him. So embarrassing. 

Louis accepts Ren’s apology, but it’s too late. Ma and pops are already at the restaurant. Oh, boy. 

Louis obviously feels bad at this point. When he gets to the restaurant, he does everything in his power to distract Steve and Eileen from seeing Ren on stage... but fails. They’re shocked to see her. Ren was singing “Dancing Queen” again btw (is that the only song she knows, orrrr?) and her outfit got an upgrade.  

Ren apologizes again and explains the whole situation to their parents. They’re surprisingly understanding! They agree that everyone should have some crazy fun every once in a while. The episode ends with Steve wearing Ren’s wig and the whole family singing “I’ve Got The Music In Me.” It’s hysterical. And ironic, because none of them have the music in them. Especially Louis. Seeing him dance and sing is truly the 8th wonder of the world. What goes through Shia’s mind while he’s playing this character? I want to know.

How does this kid go on to be a drummer? Explain. 

And that’s it! Like the majority of Season 1 episodes, this one is a little slow paced.. but it works here. It’s part of the charm of the first season. I love it. I originally had this ranked towards the “worst” half of the list, but upon re-watching I found a lot of things to like about it. Between Twitty’s awful hit single, the terrible school band, Ren’s performance and the family sing-a-long.. what’s not to love?! It’s a bit of a rollercoaster between Louis and Ren but ultimately turns out fine, which always feels like a well deserved and happy conclusion. I also like how this episode isn’t necessarily a Ren plot or a Louis plot, it’s blended and I love when they’re able to do that and have it flow so well. Also, if you’ve never seen the episode before.. it’s sort of a genuine mystery leading up to the reveal. It’s actually difficult to figure out what Ren’s been doing. It’s a pretty solid episode, imo. But, not the greatest.

2017

It’s that time again, and I already know this one will be particularly difficult to write.

I’ll begin with last year’s resolutions:

1. Exercise more and eat healthier. This is probably as cliché as it gets.  And it’s probably one that is broken the most.  I’m getting older, and my body is deteriorating.  2. Appreciate the little things more.  I take so much for granted, and I think I need to be more appreciative of everything that happens.3. Make friends.You have like none. You should be more social and find a group of people that click with you for once.  Find friends that you share interests with.  Find friends who you’re genuinely happy to be around.  Find friends who you can be yourself around.4. Appreciate myself more and be happier. This one is going to be hard.  I know it. I’ve been trying to do this for years.  Keep working at it.  Things won’t always go your way, that’s okay.  Understand your own limitations.  Understand your greatness.  Appreciate all the good you do and stop paying so much attention to the bad. Do more of what makes you happy.  Try to do these. 

Well gee, I don’t think I did any of these. They are all however things I’d still would very much like to work on next year, so I’ll probably carry them over onto 2018, possibly with some modifications because they are pretty broad.  This year, I’m not really sure how I want to format this. I’m thinking start with the good and gradually go to the bad, then entertainment mentions, and then resolutions. Yeah, that sounds alright. The biggest thing that happened this year was I graduated college. I got my undergraduate degree in Computer Science. And honestly, I didn’t enjoy that period or milestone as much as I should have. I’ll get to why in a bit. I bought myself a Nintendo Switch this year. I’ll admit it was pretty impulsive, but I don’t regret it one bit. I haven’t owned a console since a Nintendo DS Lite, so it’s definitely been a while. It’s an amazing piece of technology. It’s portability, and ability to be docked is insane. And I’ve played probably one of my favorite games ever, Super Mario Odyssey. I love it so much. I don’t think I’ve ever had as much fun as I did playing this game. I’m looking forward to new features and titles to be released next year. 

I got my first official full time job as an associate software developer. It’s been a difficult and long journey, but I did it. Let’s get into it shall we. This year has been probably the most difficult yet. I’ve had countless nights of sobbing on the floor. Curled up, headphones in, and just bawling my eyes out. I had so many of these episodes. I even documented some of them as they were happening, and I was at my lowest point ever. I didn’t know my purpose in life. I didn’t know what I was doing. I felt lost. I felt worthless. I hated myself. I didn’t want to live. It was a vicious cycle. And what’s crazy was it was all self-inflicted. I put an insane amount of pressure on myself to find a job. Seeing all of my peers become successful and start their careers and lives, while I was left behind in the dust destroyed me. To cope with this, and to try to maintain what little remained of my sanity, I closed myself off from everyone and everything. I detached myself from society. In hindsight, I think that was the best thing I could do, granted I didn’t have a single person I could entrust with anything. Or a person that would understand what I was going through. And going through all of that alone forced myself to maintain focus on me and disregard any and all things others were doing. It was a terrible time, but I overcame, and learned a lot about myself, life, and the world. Right now, I don’t think I am happy. I am more so, just relieved that I am no longer caught in the vicious cycle of the job-seeking and interview process. I am just content that I have a source of income, that I am learning, and that I am moving forward, no matter how small a step it’s still toward the right direction. Did I think that once I got a job that every awful feeling would evaporate from my blood and bones? Yes, I did. And I was naive in believing that. The problem is deeper, and I’m still working at it. What I learned from all of this was that a lot of those sayings and advice that people give you are true. It’s just very difficult to live by them. Don’t compare yourself to others. Have faith and belief in yourself. You can do anything if you work hard for it. Nothing is ever guaranteed. Expectations are hardly ever the same as reality. These, and a whole slew of others applied to me. It’s insane to me, to reread some of these posts during or after some of my breakdown episodes. It’s a strange phenomenon, of being able to reflect on how awful you felt once before. And it’s amazing to see yourself in a better place, overcoming all of the treachery. I think I need to give myself a lot more credit than I do. I know I need to appreciate myself, and love myself more. Because, I am stronger than I know. Coming out of all of this proves just that. Even in those moments where I felt powerless and worthless, I somehow mustered enough to continue and fight on. I think in large part, entertainment had a lot to do with that.  TV has always been one of my greatest passions in life. I pride myself on how many TV series I’ve seen and episodes I’ve watched. This year I watched a lot of good shows, old and new.  The Gifted - I think this show only got on my radar from SDCC posts. I saw one of my favorite fellow Asians, Jamie Chung was in it as Blink, and it was in the X-men Universe so I was already sold. The show was a lot better than I anticipated. And I also ended up loving Polaris the most, oops. And this show gave me Emma, who is now one of my favorite humans.  Marvel’s Runaways - I originally wasn’t planning on watching this at all. But something compelled me to one evening, and I watched the first 3 episodes. I’m glad I did. It gave me my goth witch queen Nico. And this show just keeps getting better and better every week.  The Punisher - I loved Frank Castle in Daredevil S2, so it was a no brainer to watch this. It had all the blood and gore I was anticipating, and it even got me to feel Kastle things, WHICH I WAS NOT READY FOR. All the flashback with Maria and the kids, hurt me to no end. Frank can just be murdering people and I’ll be all THAT’S MY BB PROTECT HIM. Which he clearly doesn’t need any help with btw.  The Bold Type - This was probably one of the most important shows for me and I almost gave up on it. I watched the pilot and wasn’t crazy about it and quit for about 2-3 weeks. Then one night, I got bored and watch the new episodes on Hulu, and I got sucked in. This show came to me in the way the universe and fate work. It’s about three 20-somethings navigating their careers, love lives, relationships, and life in general. I think it’s a show that we’re lacking and I’m glad that it exists in the world. It’s relatable on numerous levels, going through similar struggles in finding a career and friends. And I’ll always love and support shows that feature strong female characters and relationships. And I am beyond grateful that Freeform renewed it for 2 more seasons.  American Horror Story - I tried this long ago, but came back to it because of Stevie. I learned she was in Coven and I watched it because of her. I loved it. And I got a new fave out of it as well. Jessica Lange. She’s incredible.  Big Little Lies - This was getting a ton of buzz from award shows, and it was star-packed so I was all in. I loved every bit of it, except that it was too white. But the heavy topics of domestic abuse, infidelity, sexual assault, and the societal pressures to hide all our insecurities and flaws were depicted perfectly. And the overall theme and ending of women helping women to stand up against men is something we all need to live by.  Movies I watched this year that amazed me. In the Mood for Love - This film has been haunting me ever since Summer of 2014, where I took a film studies class and the professor showed the corridor clip from this movie to demonstrate a tracking shot and I never wrote down the name of it. And since then I’ve been desperately trying to find it. But one night, I was on youtube and randomly stumbled upon a top 10 mojo saddest movies (or something along those lines), and I saw this movie in Chinese. I’m like huh, this looks interesting I want to watch it. And then the next clip showed the corridor scene. I almost screamed. And I immediately watched it afterwards. I found the entire film on youtube. I wanted to like this movie a lot. And it lived up to what I was hoping for. And this movie really opened the door for me to watch more Hong Kong cinema. It basically set the ball in motion for me to go on a Wong Kar-Wai binge. I’ve watched almost all of his movies. But most importantly, I think it showed me that Asians are more than capable of acting, directing, and the whole shabang. And it set a fire in me to always support Asians in Hollywood, because we are far underrepresented. And there’s really no reason why, because all of Hong Kong cinema show that we have the art form down to a T, I think we just haven’t had the opportunity to shine.  Thelma and Louise - I saw this on Hulu, and I remember this being one of Emilia’s favorite films, and I’ve always heard that it was a cult classic. I watched it one night, and I was blown away. It’s been a long time since a movie wowed me. It’s everything I’ve always wanted. I wanted a best friend and a relationship exactly like Thelma and Louise. Where’s my Louise!?!  Wonder Woman - This movie was amazing. It was the first time I watched a female superhero on screen. I love Gal and everything she put into this movie. I love everything Wonder Woman stands for, and I love the empowerment that it’s given women all across the world. I love how I felt walking out of that theater feeling like I could do anything. Albums that came out this year. I See You - The XX: This is probably my favorite album of the year. I also saw The XX live, and they were incredible as expected. I was only 1 person away from the stage.  Goals and resolutions for next year. 1. Make more friends and be more sociable. I want to go to meetups and take classes to meet like minded individuals. I think I’ve never found friends that have the same interests as me and we never really had anything in common. I think this is an important, if not vital, factor in any friendship. Without it, there’s nothing to bond you together. 

2. Love yourself fully. If this year has taught me anything, it’s taught me how important it is to love and to believe in yourself.  At the end of the day, you’re all you have. And if no one is there for you, you should at least be there for yourself. It makes no sense to hate who you are. Embrace yourself. All your flaws, your strengths, your mind, your heart, and your soul. Be true to yourself, and fight for yourself. And never, ever waver from who you want to be and who you are.

2017, you’ve been the worst to me. But through you, I’ve learned so much about myself and about life. You taught me valuable lessons. You broke me. But I’m still standing, and 2018 will be the year I rebuild myself. 2018 will be the year I take what is mine. 2018 will be the year I flourish.
