here's some witch thing to do for Mabon (mah-bawn) (also know as the Autumn Equinox, or Pagan Thanksgiving) since its saturday!
• make stew to celebrate the gifts (aka crops) that the earth has given us (even better if it has squash in it)
• eat stuff with apples and squash!
• set out an offering for the wildlife
• eat pomegranate in honor (idk the right word to use there) of Persephony
• relock your mirrors, recharge your wards, cleanse stuff, ect.
• journal what you've done this year so far
• set your home up for winter
and here something bigger that I would suggest doing is taking a healing bath.
put some healing herbs in your bath and corresponding crystals and candles (the candles and crystals are optional). here's a list of herbs im going to use: dried rosemary, apple slices, bay leaves, thyme, dried rose pedals, spearmint leaves, himalayan pink salt, blackberries, and cucumber. the crystals im using: clear quartz, rose quartz, moonstone, aquamarine, and jasper. and im going to use some ocean water, too (if you have an ocean near you, you can use ocean water). and here are the candles im using and the meaning that im using that color for:
white (peace, purity, spiritual)
blue (calmness)
pink (emotional healing, self love)
green (physical healing)
yellow (comfort, joy)
also, if you want to use different herbs and crystals then me visit pinecone pub on the ✨ interwebs ✨ and click the get started button and type in 'heal' or ' healing' (of course with out the 's) in the search and a list of stuff would come up (herbs and crystals) that you can put in your healing bath.
Mabon simmer pot:
what you'll need:
• an orange
• rosemary (dried or fresh)
• an apple
• cinnamon sticks
• rose pedals (dried or fresh)
how to:
(1. cut up your orange and apple into slices.
(2. start heating up a pot of water on a stove
(3. add in your orange slices, apple, rose pedals, rosemary, and cinnamon sticks.
(4. let simmer.
and a little extra tip for this coming autumn, the stuff that makes up pumpkin spice, all of those herds can be used for protection. so if you like pumpkin spice, there's a little excuse to eat more stuff with pumpkin spice in it.

I broke my dominant index finger a little while back, and though I was making good progress with it, I recently strained it again and set my healing back a fair amount. As such, I've decided to employ the traditional magical operation I know as 'Wresting the Thread'.
The process entails using a cord of undyed black wool to tie 9 enchanted knots, each of which captures the power of a particular healing prayer that is recited 9 times. That cord is then used to wrap and treat the injured extremity, and when the healing is done, the cord is burned.
Along with the basic traditional framework I learned, I also imbued the wool cord with the virtues of Medicus Oil (an empowered oil of sorcerous remediation,) and called upon the auspices of fixed star Rasalhague, which has shown itself, over the course of my work, to be a powerful ally in matters of health and mending.

Various Uses for Fossils in Magic from Wisht Waters by Gemma Gary
"Sea fossils, as well a guarding against drowning, had other protective uses. The fossils of sea urchins, or Echinoids, were employed for a variety of protections. Upon these fossils, one might find a star-like pattern, very reminiscent of the 'daisy-wheels', which one might find inscribed into the timbers and masonry of ancient buildings, most likely for apotropaic purposes. Their folk names include shepherd's crowns, thunder stones and fairy loaves. They protected against thunder, evil spirits and witches, prevented milk turning sour, and in common with other fossil amulets, they sweated in the presence of poison. As 'fairy loaves' they might be used to ward off supernatural interference from the baking process, and to ensure an abundance of bread."
pg. 104
"Belemnite fossils, from an extinct squid-like creature, were known as thunderbolts, and were thus kept as charms to protect against lightning. Once believed to be the tongues of ancient serpents, fossilised shark teeth were one of the fossil amulets against poison"
pg. 104
"Rings of stone, formed from the fossilised stems of the sea-lily were known as St Cuthbert's Beads, as were worn as amulets against evil influences."
pg. 105
"The 'Devil's Toenail' fossils were carried as charms against rheumatic pain, and they were powdered to be used in the treatment of soreness of the back in horses."
pg. 107
"Various accoutrements of the sea witch's divinatory work may be seen in the Museum of Witchcraft. Here we find that belemnites were employed by a Newlyn sea witch named Nancy. She would read the fall of her 'sea stones' to make predictions for fishermen. Perhaps their traditional association with lightning gave belemnites the virtue to make predictions regarding storms and changes in the weather?"
pg. 108
[...] There have been many ways to bless, consecrate and 'sain' water, thus rendering it more potent and useful within various rites and magical operations. This might be achieved by steeping or immersing charmed items within the water, or else allowing water to flow or be poured over such an item. These may include charm-stones, fossils, flints, or the metals gold and silver.
pgs. 115-116
"Ammonite fossils were also employed as charm stones to cure cattle in 17th century Scotland. They were known as 'cramp stones' because cattle afflicted with cramp would be treated by being bathed in water in which a 'cramp stone' had been steeped for a number of hours."

any thoughts about world building medical systems?
Oooo, Medical worldbuilding can be tough, especially in the styles of hard worldbuilding
Think checks, balances, and rules when worldbuilding medical systems and features
Here's some categories you can mess around with, or some good places to start.
Hospitals
Knowing where people go when they're injured or sick can be super important, especially if a story takes place in a hospital a lot.
How available of these medical location?
Are there many different types? (Hospitals vs. Clinics)
What warrants going to the hospital?
What are conditions like here?
How do people get to the hospital?
You can even play with the appearance and layout, especially with fantasy components like magic and technology.
Law
Oh local ethics...
Deciding what are the medical ethics can do wonders on the worldbuilding and what being in recovery looks like.
What are doctors allowed to do?
Do they have a form of HIPPA?
What does medical consent look like?
What is done when someone croaks it?
Think also about how any other form of the world's first responders tie into this
Healing Magic
Healing magic, a worldbuilder's life saver and bane. Healing magic is tough to deal with because its existence completely reconstructs a world in how we see it.
There's the limitation to the healers, the limitation to the magic, and the limitation as to what it can do.
More importantly though, what it can't
How prevalent is healing magic?
How many people have it?
Is there enough people with healing magic to regularly run hospitals? If not are there specialty hospitals where you can find them? Are they so rare that it's nearly impossible to seek their aid?
Potions & Alternative Medicine
Medical also means medicine. We as humans have always had a version of medicine since the dawn of our time.
Think about what medicine are available and how technology/magic affect them.
Are potions added in? What does alternative medicine look like in this world?
Technology
When creating a world high in technology or magic that means technology and magic will find its way in every nook and cranny of life, and that includes medical too
How does technology and/or magic change common injuries, the extent at which one's life can be saved, or the kind of unique injuries magic and technology can cook up?
How do these unique injuries keep up with the world unique medical practices?
What this world has to offer?
Magic, technology, fantasy biomes, fantasy creatures, dimensional travel, diverse species... And more
How do these change the look of people arriving at the hospital?
Here's some examples of medical worldbuilding brought to my Worldbuilding Project: SOA
CW: Blood
Chromatic magic comes in a variety of ways, but the most common way we see it is the damage magic variant. What is life when four year old Jason discovers he shoot magic at the power of automatic rifles out of his fingertips?
It's all fun and games until people cast with lingering intentions. You know a lingering damage magic injury as soon as you see it. Saw a man once stumble into the ER, a bright red glowing wedge etched deep into his thigh. As it continued to pulse with magic it was as if the caster had hit him all over again, and the magic was slowly eating into his muscle.
Blood was everywhere. You could hear it singing into him. It'll keep going until its no longer got a target to cut through or finally it wears off. Unfortunately there's not much you can do. Chromatic healing magic can't uncast a spell.
We just have to wait for the lingering effect to fade away. All us healers can do is give away painkillers like candy, and get to work after it wears off. By Areth I hate damage magic.

Soap Magic
The following is a belief that I overheard from a group of grannies who were complaining about health problems they were dealing with due to their age, you can change the correspondences of the colors to fit your needs, what I wanted to share is how simple incantations can be!
But if you have real medical conditions, please go see a doctor, because just soap won’t work for you!
Water and soap reduce the energy of the disease. It is believed that the magic of soap is very effective if it is applied regularly.
After buying new soap, you should say the following incantation before using it:
“This soap ( say your name )
It will wash (say the name of the disease you have).”
Purple soap bought on Monday is used to neutralize stress and depression.
Blue soap bought on Tuesday is used for nervous problems.
Gray soap bought on Wednesday is used for thyroid disorders.
Green soap that was bought on Thursday helps to get rid of lung problems.
Yellow soap that was bought on Friday should be used for digestive problems.
Orange soap bought on Saturday is used for urogenital problems.
Red soap that was bought on Sunday is used for skin diseases and bone problems.
For example, instead of using yellow soap for digestive problems, you could use it to get rid of negativity and to welcome new energies in your body.
Instead of using green soap for lung problems, you could use it to wash away jealousy, be it your own or someone else's.
You could use red soap to wash away insecurities and welcome self love or affection.
You can use blue soap to wash away blockage and focus better in your studies etc.!

Forbidden Spell: The Wound Binding Bandage
Today, I wanted to share with all of you a new spell of mine, the wound binding bandage. This forbidden spell -which is to be drawn on bandages- is intended for first-aid, stabilizing and protecting sharp-force injuries (punctures, slashes, and stab wounds) until doctors can arrive to administer proper treatment.
Tumblr media
The spell consists of three parts; the inner [sealing] glyph (blue), the outer [binding] glyph (red), and the satellite [drying] glyphs (green).
Tumblr media
The central [sealing] glyph is the most important part of the spell, sealing the wound to quickly halt bleeding. Pull signs tug both sides of the wound back into place while the binding sign and inverted cut spell seal the wound shut. To allow the spell to seal even the deepest of wounds, claw signs are placed around the outer [binding] glyph, allowing the [sealing] glyph to reach deep into the body.
Next, the outer [binding] glyph consists of only two signs, a strengthening sign that reinforces the bandage and a winding sign that makes the bandage automatically wrap around the wound. This automatic wrapping lets the bandage be administered almost instantly, saving precious time - time that could decide between life and death.
Lastly, the satellite [drying] spells dry out the bandage (and any blood that comes in contact with it) without drying out the wound. This helps to accelerate clotting and slow blood loss while allowing the wound to stay moist and heal.
While magic used on the body can be dangerous, by taking the proper precautions, these risks can be eliminated. In the case of this spell, these precautions involve simply sealing the ink with a waterproof resin or lacquer to prevent the woodcuror from coming into contact with blood. Gauze should then be secured below the sealed portion of the bandage to prevent uncomfortable rubbing with the hardened surface.
While not a suitable replacement for proper medical treatment, the wound binding bandage has massive potential to save lives in emergency scenarios. Magic is intended to make lives better, after all. What kind of witch would I be if I didn’t lend a helping hand to those in need?

I like to imagine Mario tries to hide any smaller injuries from Peach because he doesn't want to bother her with things he can just get over himself. Meanwhile Luigi (along with co-conspirators like Toadsworth, Toad and Daisy) will immediately snitch on him to Peach any chance they get because they know she wants to help him and he loves getting help from her. Every once in a while they "just so happen to discuss" something a little too loud where they know Peach can overhear, so it doesn't get too obvious what they're doing. Sometimes they just tell her straight out.
Oh they would. 😏👌
And this is precisely what happened there too! Peach saying that she's heard about Mario's mild injury says a lot (thanks Luigi!). x3
Her healing wouldn't only occur in dire or grim scenarios. Often times, it would happen in calm and soft moments when everything feels warm and cozy, and such occasions would always be enjoyed equally by the princess and her sweet friend. 😌💞

Changing of the Guard, Part 2
WoW Birthday Whump Day 13: Natural disaster / Shock collar / "Shut up!"
Prompt List
first part
TW: imprisoned, electrocution, earthquake
Context: It has been several weeks since Henry has been appointed as Dragon Keeper. Arcturus has come to value their friendship. But the magic designed to keep Arcturus imprisoned might be stronger than Henry had anticipated.
-----
It wasn’t the distant rumbling that signaled to Arcturus that something was off. He was used to inexplicable phenomena in a world where wizards could conjure storms and create fire with nothing but a source to draw from. Earthquakes were uncommon in the valley, sure, but not unheard of.
It was when Henry arrived hours before he was supposed to.
During the weeks since his appointment as Dragon Keeper, Arcturus had gotten to know Henry quite well. More than he had any of his previous Keepers. And the boy had not raised his hand against Arcturus. Not once.
He had a good heart.
Surprising, given the upbringing Arcturus had come to expect of the Order. But such was the passage of time for humans. Death came knocking, and new generations replaced the old, removed from the reasons for their ideologies. And so cultures change. Such a thing was obvious to someone with a longer lifespan, such as Arcturus. But anyone who’s studied history can come to the same conclusion.
From what Henry had told him during their visits, it was pure luck which resulted in his appointment. He was one of many apprenticed wizards, never even set his sights on Dragon Keeper. But when Lars fell ill, the Order drew lots among the apprentices. It was clear by their actions they did not understand what sort of person was expected to be a Dragon Keeper.
In a way, Arcturus pitied Henry as much as Henry seemed to pity Arcturus. The boy was a black swan among his predecessors. It was only a matter of time before one of the more rigid members noticed his milder disposition.
So the first thing on Arcturus’ mind when Henry entered the cavern, long before the day had elapsed, was that the Order had discovered what was happening.
“What are you doing here?” Arcturus asked softly.
The boy hesitated, the golden light floating above his hand flickering briefly before stabilizing. He’d gotten better at keeping his magic from reacting to his emotions under Arcturus’ guidance, but he still had far to go. “An earthquake has struck the valley,” he said, “I was sent to make sure you haven’t caused it.”
Arcturus snorted, wisps of smoke puffing from his nostrils. “These chains greatly hamper my magic. I might be able to shake my cavern, but not the entire valley to such magnitude. You know this. Why are you really here?”
Henry was silent for a long time. Far away, deep in the valley, the earthquake continued. The vibrations reaching Arcturus’ prison were pitiful, but it must truly be devastating if he could sense it even at this distance.
“I’ve decided,” the boy finally said, his light brightening, “that we are leaving.”
Arcturus blinked in surprise. “Leaving? We?!” It had been a long, long time since he’d been rendered nearly speechless from shock.
“Yes,” was Henry's response before he crossed the cavern, purpose in his stride. Arcturus watched him carefully. Was this some sort of trick? As the thought crossed his mind, Henry reached Arcturus and put his hands on the chains. He murmured the words to a disintegration spell, one Arcturus hadn’t heard in many, many years.
As the chain crumbled into dust, it glowed with electricity, a last-ditch effort in case of escape. The pain that followed was like a thousand sharp needles digging underneath Arcturus’ scales, burning across his body like wildfire. His muscles spasmed, and he could only watch as Henry crumpled to the floor, shaking and thrashing, the scent of burning flesh heavy in the air.
The shock passed as soon as it had begun, and Arcturus lay limp, focusing on his breathing and trying to remember the spells for healing. The chains were designed specifically for him, they would have released enough electricity to incapacitate him.
The boy had taken most of the bolt upon himself. He wouldn’t survive without intervention.
And Arcturus would rather spend an eternity imprisoned than do nothing for the first human he ever considered a friend. The words of a healing spell fell from his lips as he struggled to get off the ground. The magic flowed around Henry, mending the damaged skin of his hands and sinking into his body. His muscles relaxed, and his breathing eased as the magic put him into a healing sleep. When he awoke, his memory would be the only thing remaining of the injury.
Arcturus didn’t dare do the same for himself. With Henry now incapacitated, it was up to him to get them both out. He gently picked up the boy in one of his claws and, for the first time in decades, walked along the tunnel to the outside world.
It was snowing, the tiny frozen droplets cold against his scales. Far below, the grove in the valley shook, still affected by the earthquake. Arcturus breathed the freezing air in for several moments before setting his sights south and spreading his wings to their full span.
How good it felt to finally stretch them out after all these years! He doubted he would get very far on them, weak as they were, but it would be far enough. The Order would never find them again.
“Don’t worry, Henry,” he said softly to the sleeping boy, “we’re going home.”

I know this gets zero points for aesthetics from the High Magic crowd, but once I learned that strong smells disrupt etheric energy and can even destroy talisman consecrations that I'd spent hours on, I started using TIGER BALM to unblock my energy centers, and I am never going back. Vicks works too, and I think it's less expensive. In fact, I think you can get it at the Dollar Store.
You have a cold? Put Vicks on it. Sore muscles? Vicks on it. Imbalance in you mleh-mleh-mleh chakra? VICKS. Some newb trying to target you with a ray? Vicks.
